Chapter Text
‘Kristin?’ Philza stuttered in disbelief. ‘Is that really you?!’ He called out as he ran towards the willow maid. As he approached her she expressed the warm welcoming smile of a loving mother and wife.
‘My love!’ She said softly and happily as Philza embraced her in a hug as she stood up from her mushroom stool. He squeezed her tightly to make sure she was real before releasing her from his warm embrace. Tears started to pour from his eyes as the realisation started to set in as to who was in front of him.
16 years… He couldn’t believe it had been 16 years since he last saw Kristin. ‘16 years is a long time to see each other again. It feels like I only saw you yesterday but at the same time it feels as though it’s been a thousand years.’ Philza whispered in a quiet and calm tone.
‘How are my boys? Have they grown up well in these 16 years? Is Wilbur the mischievous one as I thought he would be? And how’s your friend Technoblade? How’s the kingdom you went off to build?’ Kristin asked excitedly, eager to hear all about what had happened in the 16 years that had passed since Philza had left as the young hunter, leaving her to create his own kingdom with Technoblade.
‘Wilbur and Tommy grew up into fine young men. Haha, Tommy is the mischievous one out of them both!’ Philza chuckled at the thought of Wilbur being mischievous and the memories of the times Tommy secretly fed the dogs his meals as a child so he could get to eat dessert quicker.
‘Technoblade is as amazing as always. Recently he’s started to give Wilbur and Tommy fighting lessons. Teaching and training them on how to fight properly. The kingdom is prospering. Except a few merchants have gone missing recently which I no doubt is the same reason I got led to you, dear.’ Philza informed.
‘Come back with me. Take my hand and return with me’ Philza asked smiling as he reached out his hand to Kristin. ‘But you cannot break the curse. My life is bound to the Willow tree. I can’t leave the forest. I cannot follow where you lead.’ Kristin commented, voice quivering as she tried to hold back tears. She didn’t want to get her hopes up and to believe that the curse could have a chance at being broken but Philza made the impossible sound possible.
‘Don’t worry my dear. I think I’ve found a way after all these years to cut you free.’ Philza smiled unsheathing his sword and walked up to the willow tree with confidence in his stride. He made his grip on his sword sturdy before he swung his sword at the trunk of the willow tree. His sword cleanly sliced through the willow tree trunk with ease.
Philza stepped back to where Kristin stood as the tree fell to the ground with a thud, disturbing the animals in the glade. As soon as the tree hit the ground, the loud noise it made as it hit the ground caused the birds to take flight. The birds filled the evening sky which was music to the eyes, moving like one of Kristin's beautiful melodies.
‘Now the tree is gone, so should your curse. Kristin. Come with me. Come meet our boys. They’ve always wanted to meet their mother.’ Philza smiled, holding out his hand for Kristin. Hesitantly, Kristin took his hand and he led her to the edge of the glade.
‘I do hope the curse is gone. I’ve been dreaming about this day my entire life.’ Kristin said excitedly, grinning at Philza as they made their way through the forest.
As the couple worked their way through the forest and back to the stone covered path, Philza told her about all the adventures he had with Technoblade. He told her the places he took Wilbur and Tommy and all of the memories he had with them that he hadn’t already mentioned. During the entire walk through the forest, Kristin had never stopped smiling. She was filled with glee, finally being able to live a normal life. She felt so warm and filled with joy.
They eventually reached the edge of the forest where they spotted three figures standing in the moonlight’s shine waiting for them.
