High Fever (But Also Just High)

Chapter 2: Nightmare

Summary:

Part 2 in which Angel has a PTSD nightmare/fever dream about Valentino and Charlie helps him calm down

Notes:

This chapter is the reason for the M rating due to the content of Angel's trauma so obvious trigger warning. Nothing graphic since there is no way I am writing that (because what the f***), but there are implications so yeah. Warning for that

Chapter Text

Angel opened his eyes. He didn't know when he closed his eyes, but it didn't matter to him. He was high and so was his temperature, so his mind was foggy anyways. He looked around and recognized the place he was pretty quickly, but it wasn't a good realization.

I'm in the limousine

The realization was like a stabbed to the gut. No, a gunshot. He was terrified. He had stopped riding in there ever since the incident, so finding himself back was horrifying. Looking to his left, he found something even worse. Or... Someone

"Hey, pretty boy" a sickeningly familiar voice cooed. It was Valentino, and he's holding my face Angel realized. He tried to move away from his touch to no avail, and it only got worse from there...

Charlie was doing basic computer work at Angel's desk. She felt bad invading his space like that, but she also didn't want to leave him alone when he was clearly in a bad state, just in case something happened. This proved to be a good decision when she started hearing concerning sounds from behind her

She quickly turned around to see Angel, still asleep, clearly distressed. She quickly but calmly went to his side and nudged him. Like the previous time, it took a few tries, but he soon bolted upright, hyperventilating a bit, tears threatening to shed from his eyes.

Charlie was about to place an arm over his back in support, but stopped herself, realizing that being touched may make it worse given the nature of what his dream (probably) was.

"Angel?" She asked calmly, getting his attention. He flinched slightly, but didn't back away, instead opting to look at her, fear and exhaustion clearly evident in his eyes. He obviously wasn't in his right state of mind, which only added another layer to the situation.

"Do you know where you are?" Charlie asked, tone still calm despite how concerned she was. The last thing she wanted to do was freak him out more.

Angel looked around the room with a confused expression a bit to try and figure out the answer to that question. After a moment, he hesitantly said "H-Hotel, right?"

"Yes, Angel" Charlie replied gently "You're in the Happy- the Hazbin Hotel. Can you try and breathe for me?" She asked him. He shakily nodded, so Charlie spent the next few moments helping him take deep breaths until he was calm again.

"Thanks" he said awkwardly, looking away. "No need to thank me" Charlie replied with a smile. "You know we're all here for you, right bud?"

Angel glared at her over the nickname but didn't comment on it. "That's nice" he replied with a small smirk "You may be a fucking weirdo and this place is awful for my reputation, but you are nice" he complimented... Well, it was a compliment coming from him.

Charlie chuckled at his failed attempt at being nice. "Well, I try" she joked, going over to sit back at the desk to grab her laptop. She wanted to give him some space now that he was awake again. As she went to the door, she stopped and turned back

"I'm gonna be working downstairs. Call me if you need anything, yeah?" She asked, wanting some confirmation. Angel chuckled at this. She's always wanting to fucking help someone, huh? He thought to himself, amused

"Sure thing, princess" he replied sarcastically. With that confirmed, Charlie left the room to go downstairs and work. Maybe she'll talk to her b**** of a girlfriend Angel mused in his mind. As much as he and Vaggie argued, he was glad that his therapist(? Boss? What would you call what Charlie did?) had a loving girlfriend

A weight suddenly was added to his arms, and he looked down with a smile, seeing Fat Nuggets curling up next to him.

"Yeah, pig" he said with a smile, glad to have his pet with him (Fat Nuggets always helped him remain calm) "Love you too"
