Chapter 1: Terra Comes To Earth, Part 1 Of 2
Chapter Text
Once upon a time, in a wonderful place called Mewni, there lived a princess.
Her name was Terra Butterfly.
"Rail slide!" Shouted Terra as she slid down the rails of one of her staircases and fell to the floor, the force of said impact being strong enough to make one of her family portraits fall to the ground and caused her to be hit by the paper, which destroyed the tapestry.
Terra was a girl who greatly resembled her father, King Thomas "Tom" Lucitor, what with her bright pair of ruby eyes and light pink skin and dark gray horns and pointed tail, but had inherited few traits from her mother, Queen Star Butterfly, The Rebellious, gaining from her side indigo colored hair, sense of adventure and fashion, love for danger, and a pair of rust colored humanoid skulls for cheekmarks. Her royal princess outfit was a black dress, greatly resembling those commonly seen on most Gothic Lolita models and/or dolls, consisting of a black skirt, a dark gray corset, a white tunic with puffy sleeves and black laces and buttons, a pair of black fingerless evening gloves on her hands that went into her sleeves, and a pair of black flats with white socks.
Today, on the 5th of Razor Crane 867 a. M, was Terra's 14th birthday, meaning that it was now her turn to inherit the Royal Magic Wand.
"Now, Terra..." Star began, just before giving the wand to Terra, knowing just how chaotic that she was going to be. "If this wand gets into the hands of evil forces, the entire Omniverse could be completely wrecked into pieces! Do you understand?"
"Yeah, yeah, yeah! Just give me my turn already!" Terra blurted out, too hyped up on adrenaline to actually process what it was her mother was talking about.
Upon finally being in her hands, the wand shifted its form to match Terra's personality, now having a spear-like appearance, with the grip being about a meter in length, black in color, while the crystal that contained the mana within the wand being an emerald carved to resemble an hourglass, and the charger at the bottom of the staff being a club-suit-like shape.
"Whoa!!! Don't worry, Mom. I can totes handle this magic stuff!" Terra said to reassure her parents, thinking that she could handle it.
Terra couldn't handle it, so now, she had to be sent to Earth with Glossaryck and her staff, which she was quick to name "Elentiya", which meant "Flame" or something like that. Terra never really bothered with academics, and cared little for remembering her High Mewnian.
As Terra was reassured of her departure from Mewni, she was informed that a family friend of her parents had agreed to watch over her during this period, as her fiance was the son of this man, and was his only remaining child and heir to something called the "Omnimatrix", which Terra simply assumed was an Earth word for wand.
To be continued...
Chapter 2: Terra Comes To Earth, Part 2 Of 2
Chapter Text
Kenny didn't know what to say to this girl.
While Terra was a nice girl, if a bit chaotic, she didn't seem to understand how school worked, and her brand of magic was nothing like what he was familiar with.
"You know, I could introduce you to my future hubby-bubby once I meet him!" Terra randomly commented as they walked through the hallways of McDuffie High School, which sounded very odd to Kenny's ears. as while he was familiar with the concept of an arranged marriage, and knew that Terra was a princess, but he had never met somebody who was actually in such an engagement.
Against his own wishes and internal protests, he asked her about who she was engaged to.
"I know that his dad made an arrangement with my mom, and when the wedding's taking place, as my fiance needs to be 18 in order for us to be wed because of Earth laws." Terra answered as she continued skipping alongside Kenny.
Kenny's eyes widened upon hearing that. What man on Earth allowed for his son to be married off to an alien princess?!
Devlin and Kenny had arrived home, since the mansion that Kai and Ben had bought early into their marriage had plenty of room for Gwen and Kevin and Zed and Janna and Argit, since they didn't know that Kai had difficulties with her eggs, namely PCOS, which made it complicated for them to have children, though not for lack of trying, as they did manage to have Kenny, who made them happy enough.
The cousins removed were not expecting to find a pile of fancy clothes on a bed in one their guest rooms, nor a suitcase, or a thing that greatly resembled a spear.
The biggest thing that neither of them had prepared for was the fact that Terra was going to be living with them while she was in training to be the next queen of the Butterfly Kingdom back on her homeworld of Mewni, while also getting to know her fiance, who was from Earth, most likely a rich person or a knight's son or something, if Kenny and Devlin's speculation on the topic was anything to go on.
That speculation quickly came crumbling down as soon as Devlin asked for the name of Terra's betrothed, which made him burst into laughter upon hearing it, and witnessing Kenny's reaction.
"WHAT THE FUCK, DAD?! WHY AM I ENGAGED TO AN ALIEN PRINCESS?!" Kenny shouted at the top of his lungs in shock as Devlin began to lose his breath in laughter, greatly enjoying the events happening around him.
The Osmosian/Anodite hybrid gripped his hand onto Kenny's shoulder, trying his best to not die from laughing, catching his breath, while also trying to reassure his cousin removed.
"Hey, look on the bright side, cuzie. You're gonna be the next King Butterfly!"
"I am not liking where this engagement is going." Kenny replied, feeling as if his life had just been ruined, even though it wasn't.
"Okay, I know that you're upset about your engagement to Terra, but trust us, this is the best option that we had." Ben said to calm down his son.
"It was the only option we had, but it's not like we can break a Demonic Soul Binding Contract written in blood now, since those things are indestructible by all means. I tried. Every attempt failed. And, yes, even the ones that you're thinking about failed too." Kai remarked, remembering the months she spent after the contract was signed that she had attempted to break the bind.
"What?" Kenny asked in a flat tone, now knowing that his engagement wasn't something that he could get out of, outside of maybe a divorce, but what if a divorce contract killed them both, and the Butterfly Kingdom would be left without an heir to her crown? Her safety was too important to risk losing. Terra was too important to die so soon. She was royalty, and he was just a common boy.
It was a few hours later when Devlin and Terra had finally found Kenny, who was angry-eating at a buffet place. He had already cleared off twelve plates worth of food and was going for a thirteenth by the time they had found him.
"Okay, he must be pissed off. He's already looking like he's going start puking his guts out soon." Devlin said, he and Terra both being simultaneously scared and impressed by how much Kenny could put down in one go.
"Let me talk to him."
"Go nuts."
"Kenny." Terra began. "I know that you didn't have a choice to be engaged to me, but it's not like I had a choice to be trained here on Earth, either. So, maybe, instead of starting of as husband and wife or fiance and betrothed or whatever, can we start as just friends?" Terra offered as she followed Kenny as he filled his thirteenth plate, which he gave to her, rather than consuming the contents himself.
"Here. I don't know what kinds of meals Mewnians have, but is it cool if I introduce you to vegetarian chili fries?" Kenny offered, now understanding her side of the story, having had some time to cool down from his initial rage from earlier.
"Rectangle food. Never had that, but I won't mind trying it." Terra replied as she grabbed a fry and put it in her mouth.
Chapter 3: A Visit From The Future Ministers Of Princess Terra
Chapter Text
Terra had not expected to be awoken in the middle of the night by "pizza rain" being thrown at her window.
She looked out to see nine teenagers, all of whom were Mewmans. How were they on Earth? Mewnians were no longer allowed to access other dimensions and planets and whatnot. Mewni was cut off from the rest of the Omniverse the day that Queen Star The Rebellious was forced by the Plumbers to be crowned back in 844.
Terra, who had been born in 853, had always viewed her mother as someone to look up to, as she was the only expectation that she had to take from as a princess. It was natural for Terra to be in the presence of the Ministers of Butterfly Kingdom just as much as she was allowed to be in the company of her parents, so that she could soak up the understanding needed to rule, so knowing the children who were next in line to become the Ministers of Queen Terra The Yet-To-Be-Titled was also natural to expect.
After Terra woke up Kenny and Devlin, they went out into the front yard to meet with the future ministry.
"Hello, Your Royal Highness. Friendship Thursday Pizza Service!" Said the future Lady Of Security, Wren Redbird, who had the typical scarlet hair and round eyes of her family, pale skin, and was wearing a simple ruby shaded long sleeved dress that went down to her knees and pair of red flats and black socks with little red bird symbols on them, depicting various species of birds, both Earth-born and Mewnian. "Care for a slice, my future Queen?" She offered, which Her Royal Highness gladly accepted. The pizza was roasted corn with a pig-goat cheese stuffed crust. Her favorite flavor of pizza.
"How did all of you even get to Earth if Mewni's been cut off since forever?" Terra asked as she and her court finished up on the pizza, which was also Devlin and Kenny's first time eating Mewnian common food, though neither of them had expected the dish to be a pizza that Mewnians could make work, since one of the better received things regarding Queen Star's reign was the introduction of wheat, potatoes, spices and herbs of various kinds, salt, and rice, which Houses Cross and Fields were highly grateful for, as during the Four Moons War, also known as The War Of Queen Star, the Butterfly Kingdom was beginning to run completely dry of rations regarding their corn supply, and they were needing to trade more anyways, so gaining those crops and salt stones were a moment of great good in the eyes of the Houses and people.
The peoples of Earth and Mewni were no strangers to warfare, but the Mewnians had no understanding of things like guns and poison gases, while the Earthlings were very familiar with swords and cannons. Earth had tanks and drones and bullets and knew how to read their enemies, many of them having formally trained in combat for a good chunk of their lives, which varied depending on their ranks and ages and cultures of origin, while Mewni had no weapon that the Earthlings didn't know of, and often had ill time to prepare.
The only reason why the War Of Queen Star had been put to an end was the Mewni And Earth Agreement, which was a peace treaty, written in the years of Mewni's 853rd Year After Mewnipendence and Earth's 2028th Anno Domini, and written with demonic blood, which stated that, in order to make sure that the governments of Earth didn't just end up murdering everybody on Mewni with nukes, it was decreed that Star's eldest then unborn daughter would be married off to the eldest child to anyone who was voted to be the best representative of Earth.
The agreement on who was considered to be the best representative of Earth was quickly decided, as both a way to get revenge the Queen of Butterfly Kingdom and to ensure a good future for his then unborn son, Ben Tennyson volunteered to be the one to engage his son to Queen Star's daughter.
The Agreement was highly controversial, for obvious reasons, as there was a strong case of dissonance and culture clashes regarding the marriage ages of the betrothed, as most Earth nations had agreed to having their age of marriage be usually around 18, with few exceptions, while Mewnian nations often agreed that their ages of marriage were to be placed at around the time Mewberty would arrive, which was often 14 or so, which naturally made the nature of the Mewni And Earth Agreement bring up the question of what age the children were to be wed, which was agreed upon to be the groom's age of Earth legal majority, which was, given his parents' nationality, eighteen.
Once the Mewni And Earth Agreement was officially signed by both Queen Star Butterfly and Benjamin Kirby Tennyson, the Magical High Commission and the Plumbers had declared that Mewni would be, until there was a future Queen Of House Butterfly who would be able to catch the attention of the Plumbers by placing a banner with their family's coat of arms on all three of the moons, no Mewnian, native or immigrant, would be allowed access to the Omniverse outside of their planet.
Returning to the current situation, Wren answered that they, the young ministers-to-be, had found a pair of Dimensional Scissors that was somehow overlooked during the Exile Of Mewni, which was in accordance to the Mewni And Earth Agreement, which included the fact that Mewni was cut off, and made it the Mewnian usage of Dimensional Scissors illegal on the planet, but not everywhere else, as the Plumbers wanted to make absolute sure that NOTHING on the same scale of the War Of Queen Star was to EVER happen again with Terra and her granddaughters onwards.
Unsurprisingly, this seemed to have forged something of a black market, or in Mewnian slang, blood market, for Dimensional Scissors in any form that Heckapoo had forgotten to grab in the past fourteen Mewnian years.
This pair that Wren was holding was a pair that had dark blue handles with bronze blades, with a pivot forged to resemble a flame.
"Who did you get these from, future Lady Redbird?" Terra asked, both confused as to where and why Wren had gotten these blades.
Wren had stated that she wasn't the one who found the blades, saying that it was the future Minister of Justice, Poppy Flowers, a girl who had bright rose pink hair and almond shaped cyan eyes and tan skin, wearing a pink dress that had its skirt made to resemble the flower of her given name, along with a pair of white evening gloves and green socks, both the socks and gloves having stitching that resembled vines, and a pair of tawny brown flats, who was the one who had found them.
Poppy stated that she wasn't the one who found them, however, as she said that Atlantic Waterson, the future Minister of The Butterfly Kingdom Navy, who had dark skin, sea-green hair and eyes, and was wearing what one could call a sailor fuku outfit mixed together with a naval service uniform, as her clothing was various shades of blue, wearing cerulean pantaloons that tightly hugged her legs, showing off her muscular tone, a short seaweed-colored skirt that went to her kneecaps, a pair of heavy midnight blue buckled boots with the buckles being composed of a bronze-like water-resistant alloy of "classified make" as she put it, an indigo cape that had the Waterson House coat of arms sewn into it was tied around her shoulders, while the shirt of her outfit was a daylight Earthen sky blue in color, with seaglass buttons and light tan ropes holding the outfit together. On her head was a lake-foam blue headband with beads made from pearls sewn into it, and in her hair was a short piece of rope that was pulling her hair into a ponytail, with the knot tying the rope being a butterfly knot, was the one who confessed that she had found them when she saw "a portal that was pouring strange blood colored water that was as cold as ice to the touch" into a boat that she was cleaning and repairing the decks of that was called the "BKRS Saint Navigator."
When Kenny asked her what BKRS meant, Atlantic explained the term as "the acronym for Butterfly Kingdom Royal Ship".
"So, where does everybody wanna try going first? Part of me has always wanted to visit Paradisia!" Atlantic asked as she began to smile in excitement.
Poppy suggested that they try going to somewhere that Flying Queen Pony Head referred to in passing while visiting Queen Butterfly called the "Bounce Lounge", while Wren requested that they go to the "place where there are adorable kittens with the faces of babies" whatever that meant, which was bound to give Kenny nightmares in the future as soon as he pictured a cat with a human face.
After a small vote regarding their "first meeting", Kenny and Terra were allowed to choose their first dimension to cut into from Earth, which was Paradisia.
Paradisia was a planet that was filled with thousands of archipelagoes. Much like the Oceanic Plate of Earth had each of its isles having cultures and peoples of their own, Paradisia was much in the same way, but with something of a catch, as on this world of islands, the peoples of Paradisia were not like Earthlings or Mewnians at all, as the Paradisians were underwater and/or amphibious beings, who had skin tones that were as various as every species of fish, sharing the body types of Pisciss Volans, even sharing the ability to split their tails into legs for mating purposes, which had never been recorded by outsiders before, but it seemed that they had no issue with the Butterfly future Queen, or her Court and King and Devlin, who was briefly confused as a Minister, but clarified that he wasn't any type of nobility.
Weather or not the Pisciss Volans were related to the Pradisians in any form was a question that greatly amazed Kenny's mind, going so far as to have the Omnitrix, which he had to explain the purpose of to his fiancee for about an Earth month, scan and retrieve DNA samples from every sapient species on Paradisia by putting his left hand into the water and activating the scan feature, which made the Omnitrix's dial glow and let out a pulse of yellow energy. Once the dial stopped glowing yellow, it simply spoke, saying that from Paradisia alone, he now had at the very least 999,000,000,000 different species and subspecies to transform into, and that categorizing all of them would be a challenge that it was going to enjoy having.
Kenny smiled at hearing that one his closest friends was going to have a good time. The future Minister of Agriculture, Mayan Fields, a boy who shared Poppy and Kenny's skin tone, had round coffee colored eyes with dark blonde hair, who was swimming in his clothes, which were kept simple, as it was a three piece suit with corn yellow pantaloons, a light brown shirt, and a dark brown trench-coat, with a pair of pinecone colored boots soon asked Kenny what the Omnitrix was and what it was capable of doing. Obsidian Stone, the future Minister of The Treasury, a boy with vitiligo skin, violet eyes, black hair, and wearing a three piece like Mayan, but with dark violet pantaloons, a lavender coat, and a purple shirt, along with a pair of boots that were pink in color, also began to ask questions about the Omnitrix. The same was true for the future Minister of The Butterfly Kingdom Army, Morgan McKnight, a girl with light purple hair and magenta eyes and dark skin, her outfit being a simple light grey button up long sleeved shirt with black stone buttons and dark blue pantaloons, a pair of dark grey boots her on her feet, and her hair was in a messy bun tied by a rope, but the knot wasn't well made, as the rope, due to the waves of the water surrounding the twelve of them, had already come lose and fallen into the possibly endless waters of Paradisia, but Morgan couldn't care less about her hair.
Upon returning to Earth, the future Minister of Health, Desmond Cross, a boy with light skin with dark orange freckles in various places on his body, bright blue hair and eyes, and was wearing an outfit that greatly resembled those of a modern-day nurse, but the dyes used made the clothing look white and pink instead of the traditional shades of blue, began examining every available form that Kenny was going to let him know about, as the "Paradisia Playlist", as they began to call it, was still in progress of being sorted out.
The future Minister of Culture and Education, Vela Firefly, a girl who had albinism, and all the issues that came with it, needing to wear a pair of spectacles in order to see. Vela's outfit was a light green sweater-vest that covered a white undershirt with short sleeves, a pair of orchid pantaloons, a black skirt that went down to her shins, and a pair of orange socks with purple flats. Her favorite pair of spectacles, which were pretty much always on her face, much like she was always seen wearing her sweater-vest, as the garment was a gift from her mother, Lady Carina Firefly, who had also given her the round rimmed glasses, which were forged from cold iron, with a pair of old telescope lenses serving as her prisms, also began to speculate with her future King about what types of civilizations that Paradisia could have while Desmond examined the latter.
The future Minister of Borders, Cedar Forest, a boy who shared Obsidian's skin condition, had almond shaped dark green eyes and hair, and much like Mayan and Obsidian, was also wearing a three piece suit, which was made from a light green coat, a pair of brown pantaloons, and a button up white shirt with brown buttons, and a pair of boots that were black in color, had begun to notice that Sol was about to rise soon.
"Um, okay, not to freak everybody out, but the sun's about to rise and we're all covered in ocean water." Cedar said to inform the others.
Terra was quick to panic, as she ran back into the house, grabbed Elentiya, and attempted to use her magic to teleport the nine closest friends that she viewed as siblings back to Mewni and hide the Dimensional Scissors inside the Butterfly Family Book Of Spells, but before she could create a teleportation spell or use a pre-existing one, Glossaryck flew out of the book as the sun continued to rise.
"Terra, what to you think you're doing?" Glossaryck asked.
"Uncle Glossy, I know that this looks bad, but we went to Paradisia via Dimensional Scissors that Heckapoo left on Mewni during the Exile, and now we're gonna get caught and locked up in space cop jail and we could all end up going to the Null Void for the rest of our lives!" Terra said, panic in her voice, and fear fueling her magic, making her staff glow the usual bright green that was typical for her style of magic.
"Okay, just calm down. Being afraid will only make your spells difficult to predict, let alone control. I just need you to breathe. Just take a deep soothing breath."
Terra did as Glossaryck instructed. Elentiya stopped glowing, and Terra was calm.
"There we go, my princess."
"Now what am I supposed to do?" Terra asked.
"That part is up to you. Do you want your friends to be sent back to Mewni? Or do you want them to stay with you on Earth?" Glossaryck stated, presenting Terra with the options before her.
Terra thought over her options. She did want to be with her friends more while on Earth, but that would be breaking the rules of the Exile, but she then wondered about the nature of being Queen, since while she had access to knowing about her kingdom, having grown up with the Ministry's presence in her life, but looking at her fiance's lifestyle, she knew that he would no doubt need to be educated on, well, most likely everything about her home, which was going to be his home once they were wed.
It was a tough choice, but it needed to be made.
Notes:
Cedar Forest's name is from cedar trees. Poppy Flowers is named after the poppy seed. Atlantic Waterson is named after the Atlantic Ocean. Obsidian Stone is named after the rock. Morgan McKnight is named after Morgan Le Fae from Arthurian Mythology. Mayan Fields is named after the Mayan Peoples. Vela Firefly is named after the constellation Vela, both meaning and is interpreted as a sail. (Vela was once part of a now no longer constellation, for lack of a better way for me to phrase it, called Argo Navis, which had Vela act as her sails.) Wren Redbird (say that ten times fast) is named after wren birds. Desmond Cross' name is of Irish/Anglo-Saxon origins and either means "gracious defender" or "one from South Munster" depending on who you ask.

The history of this AU is mostly the same as theirs, but instead of Star The Rebel marrying Marco and having the Queen Of Dawn as her heiress, she ends up married to Tom and has Terra due to reasons that I don't feel ready to explain.
Oh, BTW, jgss0109, if you're reading this, please don't be mad at me for making fanfic of your AU. I'm just exploring my own take on one of its possible futures, and I'll be as respectful as I can to the history and worldbuilding that you've done so far.
Chapter 4: Good Morning
Chapter Text
Kai was awake first, just as dawn began to break. Kai was always that kind of person who always woke up when the sun was rising. Her husband, on the other hand, was more nocturnal than anything else, possibly due to having insomnia or something along that angle. Ben often stayed up extremely late, away from home, fighting and/or saving something that involved with danger, and frequently came home and simply fell asleep in his clothes, though he always did try to take showers as soon as he woke up the day after.
They bonded most during what could best be called the smaller details that few would bother care about. In their teens, they would often get on each other's nerves without end. Bickering and fighting and downright saying that they hated each other was not uncommon. They never viewed the kisses in London and Dos Santos or the one after that dumbass game show as real kisses. Their first meeting was when they were children, and any feelings there was just the silly innocence of blissful youth, which Ben no longer had by then, while Kai would rather forget her childhood, if her fear of drowning was anything good enough to tell her that much. It was water that told her very quickly that her youth was gone. Water and blood. Water tried to drag her down to her death. Blood meant that she was strong enough to continue living.
"Morning, babe..." Ben greeted his wife as he woke up. "How's my darling cactus flower doing this lovely day?" He continued as they got out of bed and started to get ready for their day.
"Feeling as lively as a good day that this gonna be today!" Kai answered her husband, clearly having her head filled with sunshine. She was being optimistic today. Ben knew that when Kai was willing to have a good day, she would make it that way.
One would think that being the Hell that is warfare would kill Kai's joy, but it was clear that the opposite was true. Maybe it was something about being a mother that had changed her. Or maybe it had something to do with her being married to Ben of all people, despite the fact that Ben kept thinking that she could've done better, but remained faithful.
Ben would never know.
Kai knocked on her son's bedroom door as she normally did, but unlike most days, the door was open, rather than locked.
Devlin and Terra's doors were the same.
Fears in Kai's mind spiked as she wondered around the mansion looking for her son and nephew and daughter-in-law-to-be.
Were they kidnapped? If so, who took her babies?!
Kai simply screamed as she panicked in fear regarding her children.
She grabbed her sword, which was not Excalibur like most of her counterparts would wield, as the sword in question was not a longsword, but was instead a short-sword that could create blades of various compositions, which stemmed from its hilt, which was forged in Hellfire and made from Dragon scales, and was named Needle. The story of how Kai had managed to become the owner of Needle was a story for another time, as right now, she was more focused on where her family was.
Terra was trying her best to not panic as the daylight began to take over the sky.
She couldn't think about magic at a time like this, but she could think of a lie.
"WHERE'S MY BABY?!" Shouted what sounded like Dr. Green's voice, and she was not happy.
Terra took in a deep breath.
"Okay, Terra. Deal with pissed off mother-in-law-to-be now, and your Court later."
Chapter 5: Mewnian Form Activated
Chapter Text
It had been about a month on Earth since it was decided that the future ministers were allowed to live in his home, with some convincing lies here and there on Terra's part, so now Kenny had to deal with nine new people living in his house. His parents were skeptical, but supportive of Terra's decision, mainly because she did have a point about Kenny being uneducated about the world that he was going to immigrate to after graduation, since he was going to need to finish his formal schooling first before needing to move into Terra's home, which was going to be his own.
The ministers to be all got their own rooms, with Terra using a spell called "Sparkle Glitter Bomb Expand" to make the rooms in question change their appearances to match the rooms that they each had back on Mewni, with a surprising amount of accuracy, going off of their reactions. Kenny sort of admired the fact that Terra was able to recall such perfect details. No wonder she was so good with her magic, but that didn't explain why she was so bad at school. Kenny considered tutoring her in math, since that was her worst subject and his best, though why and how he was so good with numbers was something he didn't bother in trying to understand, as for him, it was just a natural talent.
Terra was beginning to act weird. Well, weirder than she normally was.
She seemed to become a lot more touchy-feely around Kenny, ranging from giving him more hugs than her usual amount, to clinging his arms, to at one point, even pinning him against the wall like a person from a shojo romance anime would. Not to say that Kenny didn't enjoy the attention, but being pinned by Terra made him feel something that was more arousal than just a close friendship-level of affectionate.
It was during that moment of being pinned, did Kenny notice that there seemed to be a few extra skulls on his bride's face, which were dark blue in color, rather than her normal burnt sienna color.
"Um, Terra?"
"Yes, my darling!"
"Not to make you freak out or anything, but you've got some little splashes of blue on your face or something, like, all over."
Terra's eyes grew wide as she examined her body, which was beginning to be covered by the little dark blue skulls, appearing on her form much like how zits on a Human would be, only mush faster and weren't something that could be popped, but could be peeled off, much to Kenny's disgust and her horror.
"Hubby-bubby, these little blue splashes are serious! The members of our court have all already gone through this, since they're all older than me by several months to a few weeks, and you and I are the youngest members of our court, meaning that I am now going through Mewberty, and so might you, if you've got a Mewnian transformation." Terra rapidly explained as she began to cover her eyes by pulling strands of her hair in front of her face in panic over her metamorphosis, her natural instincts telling her to go towards all potential mates, gather them up, de-flower them, and start a hive, much like a termite or ant or bee queen would, but due to her engagement to Kenny, she was strictly bound only to him and him alone. On his end of Mewberty, he'd strictly go after Terra, avoiding everyone else in his path to only have her, if he had a Mewnian form, of course.
Terra's absence from school was excused as her being sick, which wasn't far off upon learning what exactly Mewbery was and what it turned Mewnians into upon sexual maturity, which made fourteen being the legal majority age on Mewni not as weird sounding as it initially was.
Kenny was in the middle of gym class when he looked in the mirror and saw his reflection, surprised to see a pair of bright green circles on his face. Looks like he was gong to spend the day as a Mewnian, which was kinda cool, until, he looked closer and saw a smattering of hot pink circles on his arms and legs. No... There was no way that he'd be going through Mewberty today of all days, as it was his fourteenth birthday, October 6th, and that Mewberty wasn't supposed to be like a sickness that one was able to catch. It was supposed to work like puberty did, which, upon remembering what puberty was for, as it also marked the body as making itself ready for reproduction, made Kenny extremely freaked out and scream in fear of what his body was going to do to him.
He knew that he wasn't going to be allowed to change back, if his father's stories were anything to go on, so he was stuck going through Mewberty, which he rapidly decided as far worse than puberty, for at least the entire day.
Kenny took in the pros and cons of what he knew was the aftermath of Mewberty, the pros being that he was going to be able to fly, which sounded like fun, but upon weighing in the cons, mainly the fact that there was a 50/50 chance of him not being able to change back at all, meaning that he'd be stuck as the being that Terra, very vividly, described to him as she explained Mewberty.
Terra was locked in an emergency room that was installed into the Tennyson-Green manor, which was dubbed as the "Changing Room", as it was a room dedicated to making sure that, whenever Ben and/or Kenny were using an alien that they were not familiar with, they would experiment in this room to learn their limits. It was very much like a gym in that sense, as there were plenty of machines that could easily be used for exercises, but there were also several games, board and video, along with several soft toys to play with, books on various topics, most of them fictional stories, to read and enjoy, as well as various lounges and sofas to rest upon. It was clear that the Changing Room was a lot like the Mewberty Room back in Butterfly Castle, which mostly served the same purpose, but was strictly for Mewberty and nothing else. The Changing Room was a room that was frequently utilized and deeply loved by those who entered it, while the Mewberty Room was hardly utilized, but was still highly respected to a restricted degree.
Terra's hands and feet began to emit the typical webbing, as the blue skulls on her body began to grow wildly, to the point of being nothing but large blobs of tissue. She wasn't afraid of nature's touch, as thanks to having grown up knowing about Mewberty, she had nothing to worry about, as long as Kenny wasn't around, but his scent seemed to linger in the Changing Room.
Terra grabbed as many of Kenny's leftover clothes, which he had left behind by accident on more than one occasion, and began to put them into a small pile. She was polite enough to place Ben's clothing into a laundry basket to be washed.
Returning her attention back onto the pile of Kenny's leftover clothing, Terra took the time to smell each garment, despite knowing that was sort of wrong, but she couldn't help herself as she kept going. She moaned a bit in pleasure, wanting only her groom to be. She giggled in delight over the thoughts of him, both the innocent and the rather filthy kinds of thoughts that would be expected of a teenager's mind.
Kenny was forced by the school to be locked in the boys' locker room until his Mewberty phase was over, and with nothing else to do, he did the only rational thing that he could think of, which was to pleasure himself, despite the fact that he was doing this at school and not in his bedroom, but since nature was being a runaway dump truck - hot, fast, and full of garbage - Kenny ignored social graces and just let himself go wild with instinctual lust.
It was wrong to be doing something like this in a public space, but it wasn't like he was able to stop now, since he couldn't change back, and there was the chance that he'd be unable to, so he kept at it. Terra was frequently on his mind during this odd process of changing in ways he didn't understand, but desperately wanted to. He needed to understand what was happening to him, but mainly thoughts of Terra were in his head, which were in the same manner of how she was currently thinking about him.
He wanted Terra. Needed her, even if he felt wrong for wanting her in that sense, but she was his wife-to-be, so was it really so wrong for him to desire in such a perverted way?
Terra and Kenny had concluded their respective transformations, Kenny being glad that he was able to change between Human and Mewnian at will if he so wanted to, and Terra being excited about finally having her Mewberty wings, but was upset by the fact that they were too small to achieve proper flight.
It was late at night when Terra had knocked on Kenny's bedroom door. She knocked softly enough to not wake the others, but loud enough for Kenny to hear.
"Open..."
"Thanks."
"Nightmare, sweetheart?"
"Nah. Just couldn't sleep."
Kenny had allowed Terra to sleep with him in bed, as long as nothing below the belt happened. Terra climbed into Kenny's bed, smiling slightly.
"Devlin told me that you went through Mewberty at school today."
"Yeah... I ended up masturbating in the boys' locker room for most of the day... I felt like I was losing my mind without you in there with me, 'cause all I thought about-"
"Was you? I did the same thing in the Changing Room, but I made a pile of your clothes and went love-crazy smelling them."
"Really?"
"Really."
They were quiet for a short while before whispering again.
"Um, Kenny?"
"Yeah?"
"Do you want to go under the covers with me?"
"We're already under my blankets."
"Not in just the literal sense. I mean like, maybe try the sex thing?"
Kenny blushed once realization hit, but he didn't know what the limits were regarding this kind of relationship upgrade.
Terra placed her hands on his face, cupping his cheeks.
"We don't have to start tonight if you're not comfortable with it."
"I'm not trying to say that I'd be uncomfortable with having sex with you, but it's just... I don't know, what if we're bad at it?"
"Why do you think lovers sometimes experiment when it comes to sex? To practice at getting good at it. Do you want to do the sex thing tonight or not? I won't get mad if you say no."
"I don't want to have sex with you tonight, but is tomorrow night good?"
"Yeah. Tomorrow night can be good. Good night."
"Night."
Chapter 6: Whispers In The Dark
Notes:
Yes, the title of this chapter is from a Skillet song. Just go with it. Also, warning for NSFW implications, as due to me having standards and the rating of this fic, I'm only going to focus on an outside perspective regarding the events of this chapter. Not sorry, but I have limits, and I don't wanna destroy the innocence of a reader who's new to fanfics.

Chapter Text
Devlin was reading late at night, as he often did on the weekends and Friday nights, since he could stay up late. He was reading a book on demonology in an attempt to understand Terra's demonic magic. His studying was interrupted by some odd sounds. The sounds of Terra's voice whispering something, but her room was across the hall from his room, and Kenny's room was adjacent to his own, but it wasn't unusual for Terra to sleep in Kenny's room, but the whisperings between the two of them was, for tonight, it sounded like they were discussing something that wasn't their normal talks about literally anything that wasn't explicitly this topic.
Devlin listened in, curious as to what they were talking about, keeping his thoughts to himself, and silently promising not to tell anyone about the events on their side.
What Devlin heard were these conversations, which were very difficult to keep track of due to the low volume, but were still understandable, if lacking context.
"Are you sure that you want to do this?"
Terra's voice.
"You're the one who wanted to fuck me, and since you're the only reference that I'm ever going to have, so..."
Kenny's voice.
"Do you want this?"
"Do you? You're the one who asked me."
"Yes."
"Yes."
Some silence for a while. Then the sound of Terra making an odd sound, somewhat like a groan, or maybe drooling.
"Why are you staring at me like that?" Kenny was asking her.
"You are... Surprisingly well sculpted for someone our age range..." Terra explained.
Devlin was a bit confused about what she was talking about, but it sounded like a compliment of some sort.
"Uhh, thank you? I think? Can you clarify what you mean by that?"
"Your muscles are well sculpted, and I like looking at them. I'm sorry if that sounds weird to you."
Devlin wanted to puke upon hearing that, but kept his disgust in his mind.
"So my wife has a muscle fetish? I can't say I'm surprised by that, oddly enough. If it helps, you could use a bit of your fire on me if you want to."
"Oh, so my husband is a pyromaniac?"
"More like just curious about temperature play, if you're okay with using your fire on me, of course."
"If you wanna do stuff like that, we're gonna need a safe word, just in case it's too much for you."
"Smart move, darling. My safe word will be 'Lovecraft' in case I can't take any more."
"Why use the name of a disgusting man as a safe word?"
"Just because he was a bigot doesn't mean he didn't leave an impact on literature. I love his taste in horror, and once you separate the art from the artist, that's when the fun happens."
"Alright, fine. Our safe word is 'Lovecraft', but if I start setting stuff on fire, I'm blaming you."
Some more silence, interrupted by sounds of the bed squeaking in an uneven rhythm and confused vocalizations, which made some sense, as they were obviously new at whatever it was they were doing, which Devlin quickly realized was sexual activity.
Then Kenny beginning to scream in pain, which was muffled, most likely by a pillow or a hand.
"Lovecraft! Lovecraft!" Kenny was yelling, his voice still muffled. "Too hot! Too hot!"
Notes:
For those of you who have a gross mind, feel free to imagine whatever was going on, cuz even I don't know, and I wrote this!
Chapter Text
Devlin had no idea what to think regarding what he had heard last night. While he knew what sex was, and had once, unintentionally, walked in on his own parents in the act, he was highly uncomfortable with listening in on his cousin and his fiancee in the midst of that, even if they were obviously bad at it. Despite promising himself that he wasn't going to say anything about it, he knew that he had to inform his family about this.
Desmond, Vela, Mayan, and Atlantic were busy cooking breakfast, which was pancakes and waffles, whole wheat and chocolate chips, while Obsidian, Morgan, Poppy, Wren, and Cedar were busying themselves with making sure that the kitchen remained as clean as possible. Kai, Kevin, and Argit were on table duty, making sure that the dishes and cutlery and napkins went to the correct seats, while Gwen, Ben, and Janna were on drink duty.
Kenny, Devlin, and Terra woke up late in the morning, but not too late to have breakfast. Terra often liked to carry Glossaryck in her arms, carrying Elentiya with her tail wrapping around the staff's grip, in order to bring him to the dining table for meals, and to attempt to practice and perfect her magic. The idea being that she'd be able to be inspired by the flavors of the food and beverages and utilize the leftovers to create potions, in many failed attempts to emulate her Triple-Great Grandmother Shy, but alas, no success in such matters could be said, as she couldn't access the recipes of the Shy Queen, due to her infamously secretive nature and the Padlock Spell, which Terra didn't know the passwords to, for obvious reasons. Glossaryck knew the cosmic secrets of Celena The Shy, of course, but Terra didn't want to make him upset by asking him how to ask her ghost for help with making potions.
Breakfast was normal, but everything felt off, at least to Devlin's mind.
"Devlin? You feeling alright?" Morgan asked as she took another bite of her waffles. She had lived her whole learning how to read people, as was needed for a woman of warfare such as herself, and she could tell that something wasn't right with her future King's cousin.
"I'm alright, McKnight. I just couldn't sleep last night." He lied to her, but she wasn't falling for it.
Once she was done chewing, she quickly asked him what was keeping him up the night before.
"What kept you up last night?"
"Just some noise, that's all." Devlin answered, which wasn't that far off from the truth.
"Were you awake because of the sounds of the betrothed involving themselves in their first night of intercourse?" Morgan asked, which made Terra blush a very bright shade of much-pinker-than-normal for her skin tone, which was normally more or less the same shade as Kenny and Devlin's late Auntie Ester, while Kenny practically died of shame. Kai and Ben both took a spit-take of their drinks, while Kevin and Janna both laughed. Gwen and Argit dropped their drinks, causing the glasses of apple juice to shatter upon hitting the tile of the dining room floor. Zed was indifferent to the events happening around her, as she didn't have a reason to care. The Ministers-to-be were not surprised by Morgan saying such things, as they were adults by Mewman standards, so it wasn't abnormal to have sex at fourteen upwards, but for Humans, it was viewed as highly indecent and immoral, though this did vary from person to person and culture to culture, as well as which era that such topics were being discussed in.
"Morgan! Why did you ask him about that?!" Terra exclaimed in surprise. While she had been given the talk with her parents and teachers, regarding the act itself, birth control via bloomoon tea, basic safety, infections, her controversial Grandma Fairest, and everything else in between, she was not comfortable with discussing sexual behaviors outside of the home and only occasional cases of "moths" ending up in the dungeons of Butterfly Castle were the only way she'd talk about them, as long as it was still considered in private.
"Forgive me for intruding on your privacy, Crown Princess, but I noticed that Devlin had something in his mind, and felt that it was appropriate to address the issue. I deeply apologize if my acknowledgement of you and your fiance's bonding activities has caused disturbance." Morgan apologized.
"Your apology is accepted, Squire McKnight. But the next time that you spill the secrets of the Crown, I will have to enforce you to a vow of silence, which shall only last until I allow you to speak once more. Understood, Squire McKnight?" Terra warned, her eyes glowing a dim blue.
Morgan froze in place. While she was aware that the Princess Of Mewni was joking, that didn't stop her from being somewhat scary.
"Understood, Crown Princess."
After breakfast, Kai and Ben spent the rest of their day, save for meals and bathroom breaks, to educate their son and daughter-in-law-to-be on interspecies sexual details, and everything that came with it, much to the disgust of the betrothed. Even more so for Terra, due to having to suffer through the talk twice, only it was now MUCH weirder than her first sex talk, as this one involved many more species than she had expected. She blamed the soul of the Omnitrix for making this event so complicated.
Two days passed since that morning, with Kai and Ben, much to the betrothed's surprise, giving them their approval to continue their sexual experimentation, as long as precautions were taken in advance, mainly to prevent any bastard offspring from showing up and causing scandals for both their families, especially the House of Butterfly, due to their royal status, and the fact that, on both Earth and Mewni, children who were not the results of a married couple were greatly looked down upon, though on Earth, the nature of a child's status as the legal offspring of a couple were a bit more relaxed, but still viewed as a complicated situation in certain cases.
Terra was now trying out a new spell that she was in the process of creating, heavily inspired by the "dancing spells", as she always called them, of her Grandma Hours, who was well known for incorporating dance into her magic, according to Glossaryck's accounts of her.
The Clockwork Choreography was in the midst of its creation, but needed something to fuel it.
Notes:
If you're familiar with Venus The Fairest, then you'll know what "moth" means in Butterfly Kingdom slang. In case you don't, all I will have the guts to say is that the term "moth" is a slang term for, um, one who practices the oldest profession, to put it politely.
Chapter 8: What Happens At Homecoming Stays At Homecoming
Notes:
(See the end of the chapter for notes.)
Chapter Text
Homecoming was on its way, and Kenny had bought twelve tickets. It took him a while to earn that much cash, since each ticket was $20, and he had to multiply that by twelve, needing a sum of $240 in order to pay for all of them to be able to go to both the dance and the game. Six were for the game, which Morgan, Devlin, Desmond, Obsidian, Poppy, and Atlantic wanted to attend because of something involving the Spirit Committee that they were planning. The other six tickets were for himself, his fiancee, Wren, Cedar, Vela, and Mayan to go to the dance, mainly since none of them had an interest in American football.
The Game:
Poppy, Atlantic, Desmond, Obsidian, and Morgan were all prepared for the event that they had spent the past two weeks planning. Despite Morgan's knowledge of army-based warfare tactics and Atlantic's know-how regarding naval attacks, it seemed that the Spirit Committee had no interest in doing their job in summoning the School Spirit, which was essential for their plan of aiding the McDuffie Devils from suffering a tragic loss and gaining victory over their longtime rivals from Wyatt Preparatory Academy, the Wyatt Wyrms.
Devlin had informed them of the legendary rivalry between the schools, and they had greatly misinterpreted what he had told them, as they mistook the term "bloodbath" as a lot more literal than metaphorical, and booby trapped McDuffie High's football field, much like their current Queen.
Now everything was going according to plan, which quickly made Devlin freak out, since that was not at all what he was expecting from a football game.
"What the actual fuck did all of you do?!" Devlin asked, his eyes and hands glowing bright pink in panic.
"You were the one who informed us, so we were simply doing what was needed, which is why we booby trapped the battlefield." Obsidian explained.
Devlin took in a deep breath to calm himself down. Then he asked about the exact details about their football battle plans from the five of them. Since he knew magic, thanks to his mom and Aunt Charmcaster's lessons, he shifted into his Anodite form, and began to return the animals used for the battle back into their true forms, but it only lasted for a few seconds before they all changed back into the monsters that they were made into.
He didn't know how to fix that, so now he had to call Kenny for backup.
The Dance:
Dancing with Terra was far from fun, to say the least of it, as she kept stepping on his toes, while he was often out of sync with her steps, which made her upset. Kenny wanted to make his wife-to-be happy, but it seemed that he couldn't tonight.
Dancing to the silly bubblegum pop music was fun, as there were no rules to letting the music drive a dancer's steps, as that kind of music was more "go with the flow" when it came to dancing, but with more slow dance type songs, there was a lot more of a struggle for the two of them, as Kenny never was interested in ballroom waltzes and the like, he had never learned the proper details of such dances, while Terra was far more familiar with such things, being a fancy politician and all that.
It was odd to feel so out of place at such a formal event, but Kenny was getting the feeling that he was needing to make it up for Terra, but had no ability to recall what it was. Did it have something to do with something in his diary that he had no memory of writing? He knew that there was a specific date that was just plain gone from his memory, and that date was September 18th, 2038. He had no memory of that day, but knew that he wrote about it, and that he was quite detailed, given that he shared his father's photographic memory, since it was genetic on his Tennyson side, and that the date in question involved something called a "Lonely Star Ball" and he ended up getting picked by somebody called "Terra", but he didn't know who that was, or if he did, he couldn't remember that person.
Was the Terra in his diary the same as his fiancee?
No, that would be something that he would deeply remember, and if the two Terra people in question were indeed the same person, why couldn't he remember?
Why was there such a gap in his memory? Why couldn't he stop thinking about that void in his mind?! The gym/cafeteria was starting to spin, and Kenny felt extremely dizzy. Like he was going to vomit his guts out.
"Terra, don't get mad at me, but I think I need to be in the bathroom for a while..." He said as he excused himself from the fun of the party, much to Terra's concern.
The Game:
Everything was going down in flames at the point. Devlin, once he noticed that Kenny wasn't picking up his mirror-phone, simply just decided to call his parents to help out with all the crazy shit going down. He blamed himself to making Homecoming a disaster.
Good thing nothing was actually on fire. No, wait, scratch that. Something was now actually on fire! The flames weren't coming from the football field, as he expected, but as soon as he heard the school's fire alarm ring, he knew that people were going to die, since all of the booby traps on the football field were non-lethal weaponry, made only to scare the Wyatt Wyrms, rather than kill them, which was nice, and Devlin could only draw the conclusion that something inside the school was on fire! And his cousin, his soon-to-be-cousin-in-law, and 4/9ths of the Butterfly Royal Council-to-be were inside the building!
Devlin, out of instinct, shifted his Anodite form into a form similar to that of Lucky Girl's Anodite form, but his outfit was different slightly, as his outfit resembled his mother's first Lucky Girl costume from when she was a child, rather than when she was a teenager, lacking a skirt and was a one-piece. His clothing had the same belt, mask, and color scheme as the Lucky Girl 1.0 outfit, but had the Charms of Luck and Telekinesis from the Lucky Girl 2.0 outfit. The Charms were around his neck, with Luck to his left side and Telekinesis to his right, but in between the two Charms, rested the Charm of Powers, which was created by Devlin not long after discovering that he had the Spark like his mom. The Charm of Powers was a black onyx stone, with the power button symbol carved into it, which glowed blue when activated, and granted the user(s) to be able to have the ability to absorb and replicate powers from other sources, made in lieu for his lack of natural Osmosian powers, as well as storing up his own powers as a backup, just in case he ever needed to allow someone to use his own if they needed to use magic and didn't have the time to learn it.
In this mid-range Demi-Anodite (Demodite?) form, he went from being Devlin Levin-Tennyson to the superhero known as Halcyon, who was a bit new to the hero game, but had proven himself enough times to be called a vigilante, and the newest protector of Underwood.
The Dance:
Kenny had been vomiting for the past two hours, much to the concern of Cedar and Mayan, who were the only ones allowed to be watching him, since Wren, Vela, and Terra couldn't enter the boys bathroom. He had never puked this much before in his life, and he hated every second of it. It felt like he ate a Category V hurricane and it was now coming back up. All because of a weird memory gap in his head. His mind had a missing picture, and now he was in pain, simply because a photograph was no longer in the scrapbook.
Why was that specific date just plain out gone, and why was acknowledging that missing day hurting him so fucking badly?!
Notes:
Re: future chapters, that missing memory in Kenny's mind is gonna be important for Star's title as The - AH! Oops! Can't be spoiling THAT big of a reveal now, then it's not gonna be surprise!
Chapter 9: Mariposa's Hope
Notes:
It should be noted that this chapter's a flashback related to the Four Moons War, so keep that in mind.
Chapter Text
The year on Earth is 2023, and one Mariposa Diaz finds herself running away from the people who wish to kill her, just for being Marco Diaz's little sister. Her parents are already dead, and she cares nothing for her much older brother, as he lost the right to be called her family the second magic went away, and then as soon as it came back.
She was born in Earth year 2018, making her six years of age, and spending her life in an endless war was not good for her development in the long term.
Mariposa now found herself lost in a city that no longer existed, but she had lived here her whole life. This city was once called Echo Creek, in what used to be California, but those didn't exist anymore.
That is when the Witch finds her, starving and sick and scared.
The Witch scoops Mariposa up in her arms and asks the child what's making her sad.
"Who are you?" Mariposa asks the Witch.
"My name is Charmcaster to others, by you can call me Hope. What's your name?" The Witch, now known to Mariposa as Hope, asks her.
"Mariposa."
"It's nice to meet you, Mariposa. Do you know where your family is?"
"I don't have a family anymore."
"Oh... Well, there are plenty of people in this war-world cleaver that don't have much anymore these days. I don't have a family anymore either. I lost my mother not long after I was born, my father was killed by a tyrant wizard turtle, and I lost my uncle to this war. We at first lost our magic, but this war brought it back and made new magic, alongside the old magic. When my uncle and I joined the war, we only recently got our magic back, and everything felt awful afterwards, since we needed to readjust to having our powers returned to us. Once we did, I led armies from my home, while my uncle led the research behind our battles. But, not everybody was able to return home, so I scattered my armies, and allowed for research to continue without me. My people are on their own now, and they could be extinct for all I know."
"So, you don't have a family anymore either, huh?"
"I guess so."
"Can we make a new family for each other? Since you don't have a family anymore, and I don't have a family anymore, so can you be my mama and I be your baby?" Mariposa asks Hope, feeling safe for the first time in her life.
Hope hugs Mariposa tightly in her arms. It had been so long since she had felt this kind of love from anyone, that it was so easy for her to forget what love was.
"Yeah... we can be a family... my Mariposa."
Chapter 10: The Goopigrade Potion and the Pyronite Inferno
Chapter Text
Hello, future princess, or prince, or some form of heir who has magical powers. I don't really care what your title is, as long as you're willing to read from the chapter of Princess Terra Lucitor-Butterfly, The Not-Yet-Titled. Thieves who read this will be hunted down and executed put in prison. (Kenny, my darling fiance/husband, forced me to change the warning, but you will still be hunted down regardless!)
Let's just get started, since I can't wait any longer!
Goopy Upgrade (Goopigrade) Potion!
This one was inspired by my father-in-law, the one and only Ben Tennyson, and his work as a Plumber. (Plumbers are basically like the Royal Guards, but they work in space and other dimensions. I'm thinking of joining their ranks, but I don't know if I'm allowed to do that. Maybe one of my future grandbabies might, which could be something.)
Glossaryck here! Majority of Princess Terra's spells are inspired from the life of her husband, Kenneth Tennyson-Green, so most of these are based off of alien lifeforms, which is why the Biomnitrix exists to begin with. Do with this knowledge what you will, future spellcasters.
Uncle Glossy! Let me write in my chapter!
Not sorry, my lady! ;P
As I was saying, future spellcasters, this spell allows you to take a piece of complex tech (any level, doesn't matter) and upgrade and manipulate it to be whatever you want it to be.
For this spell to work properly, you need to make a potion with the following ingredients:
150 mL of plant-based oils. Corn works best in my case, but any edible plants will do just fine.
40 g of one's own keratin. It has to be your own, or else, your spell goes berserk and your machine of choice will stop working right. No, a tech expert, regardless of skill and/or machine involved, can't fix it. I've failed enough times to know that the hard way.
1 L of water. To use as a base for the potion. Pretty basic potion stuff.
Pour ingredients into a medium sized (basketball big) saucepot, let simmer for ten minutes at 85*C, and mix together with a wooden spoon once cooled down to 24*C. Metal spoons will just melt; it's not pretty. It should turn a bright green color once cooled. Texture is meant to be slimy and is supposed to feel bumpy when touched. When stirring and simmering, the potion will become black in color, but that's perfectly normal for this potion. If you're mixing this potion with another one, make the individual potions first, then fuse them together once both have cooled down to optimum temperature and have been stored in a dry room for at least one week. This allows for the magic in the potions to settle in and become stronger with age. (DON'T FORGET TO LABEL ALL OF YOUR POTIONS!!!)
Once your Goopigrade Potion is finally made, apply to any complex machine of your choice. The machine, once the potion is applied, will become coated in a green tar, and your spell is activated! To manipulate your magitech, simply just give any command to the item and say what form you want it to transform into. Once you're done with your tasks, clean off the potion tar with a wash rag and place the rag on a drying rack. The potion doesn't go away from the rag while drying, as it simply just condenses and drips out, turning into a blob of goo, which hardens and shapes itself into a ball and turns dark purple. Once the potion from the rag is done doing that, collect it and place it into the bottle that you poured the rest of your potion into. (Side note: Forgot to mention this, but it's important that you pour the potion into a bottle. Bottles made from glass are the safest, as this potion will melt any plastic bottles that you use and burn your skin for some reason. Bottles should be a 2-liter size.)
Pyronite Inferno!
This one should be quite simple for you to use, but I must warn you, this spell can be quite painful.
It's a fire-based spell. They're ALL painful! They use fire, for Goddess' sake!
Glossaryck does have a point there. Now to the spell.
For this spell to work properly, you must hold onto a cup or a bowl (any sort), place a stone or mineral (again, any sort), and pour any flammable liquid into the chalice. Next, you must clearly speak to the stone or mineral the following incantation:
"I ask for you to become a burning hearth. I ask for you to bring me Hellfire's light."
Once you've said this, the flammable liquid will begin to burn a bright color-changing fire, and the stone or mineral will begin to turn into a bright sky colored jewel. (Sky colors vary from the time of day that you're casting this spell in.)
The spell should last for as long as the chalice has the flammable liquid in it. Wares off after the liquid burns out. As for the mineral or stone involved, that remains a good light source for about as long as they stay exposed to light.
Chapter 11: How To Avoid Assassination Attempts
Notes:
(See the end of the chapter for notes.)
Chapter Text
Kenny was sick within his digestive system, and his lips were black. It was Lacrimosa flower poisoning, which had no cure, meaning that Kenny was dying, which was sharply hurting Terra, since their souls were bound since birth, thanks to the Mewni And Earth Agreement and the magic that was used to make it unbreakable by all means. Terra wasn't going to stand for it, and demanded that she find out the cure for Lacrimosa poisoning, regardless of her state, which was much weaker than her normal level of strength. She demanded Glossaryck to tell everything about the plant to Desmond, knowing that he was strong enough to go out and find the cure.
Now, Desmond was in the Never Zone, which gave him plenty of time to hunt down a cure, since Lacrimosa, as a poison, often kicked within roughly 6 to 12 hours, depending on the amount ingested, and death by poisoning was not a pretty way to die.
Ten minutes.
Twenty years.
20,000 flames.
1,000 per year.
Heckapoo had made the Scissors that could take Desmond to the right place. She was wanting to experiment with her Scissors anyways, so now she had the perfect excuse to make some. Planetary Scissors, she called them, as they strictly cut to anywhere on only very specific planets.
The first pair of Planetary Scissors had stone handles, an iron pivot, and bronze blades. On both sides of each blade was the name of the planet Mewni. The Mewni Scissors had now been forged, and now awaiting for their owner.
Desmond Cross was going to be the first person, or second to Heckapoo, due to her being the forger of all Dimensional Scissors, and now, Planetary Scissors, and obviously needed to see if they worked, to use them.
Desmond took up the blades, having finally earned them in the name of his Queen and King, Terra and Kenny, and traveled to his homeworld of Mewni.
Not once, was he allowing himself to become distracted from saving his rulers-to-be from dying and his kingdom from falling into ruin.
He found himself standing in a city of ruins from a culture that he knew nothing of within his lifetime, but knew from history that these ruins were from the era of Ancient Mewnian Empire, who used to rule over what were now known as the Phantom Isles, discovered by Queen Polaria The Navigator.
Did the Titans know anything about Lacrimosa and how to cure it?
He needed to know as quickly as possible, as he needed to have his rulers alive and still be able to have a home to return to. He travelled from ruined town to ruined town and isle to isle, Glossaryck helping him in the quest for the closest buildings remaining that could be called hospitals and libraries, aiding in translations and measurement conversions and local botany.
It took about three hours of doing this, Desmond stuffing his backpack and messenger bags with scrolls and plants and fungi and transcriptions of the Old High and Old Low Mewnian languages into every blank notebook that he had brought with him. In his searching, he discovered that there was indeed a cure for Lacrimosa poison.
Finding out the cure for Lacrimosa was the easy part.
Now came the hard part.
Desmond found that out as soon as he caught, and snapped in half, an arrow that was fired at his face.
He was being hunted down, perhaps because someone was finding out that he knew the cure for Lacrimosa poisoning.
Glossaryck had been his confidante for the past three hours and five minutes, so Desmond trusted him deeply, and thus, had no reason to lose his faith in the Honorary Knight Of Terms, but he had no love for Queen Star, who her daughter had long been lied to about her title, thinking of her as the Rebellious Queen, which, while it was not inaccurate to call her such a name, was far from what her true title actually was.
Queen Star Butterfly was known to the people and her court as nothing more than a disrespectful tyrant who didn't deserve her crown, but since she was the only option available, Butterfly Kingdom was stuck with her until it was Crown Princess Terra's time to begin as Queen Butterfly. Many members of Butterfly Kingdom citizenry and fellow rulers from other nations never said it, but everyone knew that Queen Star was not a respectable queen, nor even worthy of being seen as deserving to be called Queen Butterfly, only worthy of being called a moth, but not even moths wanted to be compared to the Queen, so people began to refer to the Queen as a maggot, which was deemed as worse than a moth.
As for who was hunting down Desmond and his newfound knowledge, he looked around, but couldn't see anything, until he heard a voice.
Female and was fluent in Modern Low Mewnian.
"Doctor's orders, Desmond Cross..." Said the voice. "You're lucky that was my last arrow..." She continued.
She sounded deranged.
Desmond put his survival skills to good use as he listened for the voice, but she became silent as soon as he began to search for her.
Deeply creeped out by the situation around him, he portal cut his way back to Earth, bring the cure for Lacrimosa, which was a bright hemoglobin-blood-red colored flower with five petals and purple stems and black leaves. When cut, the flowers looked as if they were bleeding out a green fluid. Since his sources didn't seem to have a name for this flower, he decided to call them "Bleeding Blooms", in lieu of their actual name.
Upon bringing forth the knowledge of the Bleeding Blooms from Titanic Mewnians to the modern day, Desmond quickly created an elixir made from the flower, going off of his rediscoveries of the ancient magic system, which was now co-existing with the current science of medicine.
Once the elixir was made, Desmond poured some of the elixir into a coffee mug, taking the rest of it to one of the Fallout Bunkers of the Tennyson-Green mansion, so that no one was able to steal it, along with the scrolls and notebooks that Desmond brought with him. It was agreed that Desmond would bring them to Cross Sanitorium upon returning back to Mewni after Terra and Kenny were married.
Desmond gave the mug with the Bleeding Bloom elixir in it to Kenny, who was still alive, and still had enough strength to swallow the drink and sit upright afterwards. Desmond noticed a weak smile on his King's face and gratitude in his eyes.
"Thank you, Desmond." He whispered.
"Just doing my job, my King."
"You just saved me and Terra's lives and you're being modest?"
"Modesty is built into my blood. Now rest, my King. You've been in enough pain for today. I will watch over you for tonight." Desmond said as the night fell, and Kenny began to fall asleep.
Desmond refused to sleep that night, staying true to his word. He only had one question on his mind after today.
Who was the person who placed a bounty on Terra and Kenny's heads?
Notes:
If the Lacrimosa flower cure sounds familiar, that because they're a "Danny Phantom" reference to the Blood Blossom flowers, which are safe for humans to eat and digest and are used in exorcism related activities.

Chapter Text
Kenny spent the following weeks healing from the Lacrimosa, thanks to Desmond's Bleeding Bloom elixir cure.
Due to the threat of being murdered, it was agreed on by his parents and Underwood ISD that Kenny would be educated remotely until there were no longer any threats to his well being. Knowing that Kenny being assassinated meant that Terra was also in danger of being killed herself, she was withdrawn from the school system for her own safety, much to her upset, but she was used to being threatened by people, so she didn't make a big deal out of it.
Desmond began to educate Kenny on the topics of Mewnian biology, ranging from diseases to anatomy. It was very odd to know that diseases on Mewni were more magically-infused than on Earth, but given that Mewni had known about magic for eons, it made sense that life on the planet would have evolved to be able to, either actively or passively, control the raw mana into their forms and spread that knowledge into their cultures.
Kenny grew wise with this new understanding of Mewnians as these sessions continued.
Desmond would be knighted for his actions once Terra was crowned, as the betrothed agreed on, after debating on the topic of how to honor Desmond's act of heroism. This greatly confused Desmond at first, due to not being much of a fighter, but once Terra decided that he was going to be knighted, not for any actions related to warfare, but his actions in protecting the Crown Butterfly because of his actions in rediscovering lost knowledge from the history of Mewni, which now redefined the concept of a knight as not just becoming a Sir or Dame for combat and warfare based protection, but now, the acts of protection in terms of peace and wisdom.
Desmond was beyond ecstatic to be Mewni's very first "Knight of Peace", as Terra coined it, stating that she would knight Desmond on her coronation day. Morgan was a bit jealous, but Terra assured her that her own actions as a Squire were just as valid for her to become Dame.
Morgan began to teach Kenny on the nature of the common warfare tactics for the Butterfly Kingdom Army, as well as the typical weaponry, rankings, and so on. The pride that she had for her House and family history were admirable, but she and Kenny frequently debated on if it was ethical to keep going to war with the Monster Nations and their peoples, which greatly upset the future King, as it reminded him too much of the history of his mother's side of his family, making him deeply empathize with the monsters, who he viewed as no different when compared to the Mewnians in terms of just wanting to survive and thrive with what they had on them.
Crying and lots of yelling were not uncommon between the two of them.
Atlantic began to join in on these "Mewni Classes", as she began to call them, and decided to teach Kenny about the Butterfly Kingdom Navy and the roles of House Waterson. Her lessons were often about the known world that she had long known about, as had been mapped out by Queen Polaria during the Great Expedition.
Lessons ranged from the structures of how the different types of ships functioned, to the rankings of the crews, to other Mewnian cultures, to even the types of knots to tie from the ropes. Questions about the "Unknown World", as Kenny began to call it, were frequent for him to ask.
Atlantic didn't have any answers for those kinds of questions, as she said that they only knew of the continent of "Polaria", as they began to refer to it, and nothing else, as the waters beyond the landmass were too wild to pass through, though, she was hopeful for when there'd be a day when truly all of Mewni knew of each other.
Cedar began to teach Kenny about the nature of who was classified as a citizen of Butterfly Kingdom, and what were defined as the borders of the country, but like with Morgan, Kenny frequently argued about what it meant to be seen as a person on Mewni, due to the monsters, and Kenny seeing them as indigenous peoples, a concept that made no sense to Cedar's view, but once he was given a really long explanation of the terminology, the young Forest quickly began to rethink his understanding.
Changing his mind was very difficult to do, but Cedar was starting to empathize with the monsters, once he and Kenny began to regularly discuss the concept of Monsters having rights of their own.
Wren began to teach Kenny about how to be a Redbird, as she taught him about the nature of her role, which was a lot to take in. The ruby-eyed girl spoke of the burden of keeping all secrets of the kingdom and Crown, in order to protect it from the inside, as the threats of traitors and domestic terrorism were quite serious matters, and that it was the job of House Redbird to keep track of all of that.
Kenny didn't think about the fact that a member of the Butterfly Dynasty could easily be swayed to betray their nation and commit such horrible things, but once he began to consider it, he was disgusted with his mother-in-law-to-be and her war crimes.
The two of them quickly began discussing the idea of a Butterfly Kingdom Police Force, an idea that Wren had been having on her mind for a few years now, not long after learning about the shocking about of criminal activity in the Kingdom, and the disturbing amount of undisciplined and corruption filled and just unfair treatment of criminals that went against every law that Kenny knew regarding how to give a criminal their fair trail and due process and rights to privacy and property, as well as the disgust he felt regarding the Butterfly Kingdom's total lack of a proper prison system and the nature of the dungeons.
Obsidian was next to teach, and what he chose to inform Kenny on was not just the history and nature of House Stone, but also the current economic crisis that was going on in Butterfly Kingdom, which meant that Terra was going to inherit a ridiculously large international debt, which they couldn't even afford, let alone tax the people.
The price of this debt?
100,000,000,000 Cosmic Coins, named in honor of Queen Cosmica The Explorer, per each foreign known world nation, which was way more than what they had, meaning that once they paid off this debt, they wouldn't have anything to spend on matters of the Kingdom itself. Obviously, not a good thing, as there'd be no way to pay off this debt and still have anything resembling a remainder.
Next up was Mayan, who informed Kenny about the fact that the people were running low on leftover rations from the Four Moons War. While the agriculture of the country was doing well, trading between Butterfly and their Queensroad allies was running rampant without restrictions, despite the laws in place regarding trade and barter, as well as various towns simply refusing to give food at all to people outside their homes, causing the "Corn Riots", which was the term for the events going on, especially in border aligned parts of the Kingdom.
Kenny had no idea on what to do regarding the Corn Riot situation, as he didn't know the first thing about agriculture, nor anything about how to fix the Queenroad related problems.
Vela's lessons were more about the people of the Kingdom, which was always a welcome break from the more stressful details of rulership. Vela informed Kenny about the current system of fosterage, which allowed for two major things:
1. The semi-legal legitimacy of bastards, since they were often looked down upon by most and were frequently abandoned by their families and adopted by guilds and members of the Celestial Church. Heartbreaking, but it was the truth. It comforted Kenny to learn that Queen Cresenta The Eager created the Financial Aid Program For Single Mothers And Widows, which was often just called the "Eager Aid" by most, due to the mouthful of a name it had.
2. The continuation of traditions via teaching the various crafts and skills needed for the occupations that were most common within the Kingdom, which ranged from metalworking and fabric spinning to storytelling and shipbuilding.
Vela spoke sadly about the Great Firefly Library Fire Of 200, which resulted in the destruction of more than 20,000 books and cultural stories and historical records, which caused her a deep pain and regret by knowing that such information was now lost forever, and had been lost for the past 667 years.
Kenny understood what it felt like to not know about things lost to the fog of ages, having asked his parents questions that, several times, ended up being answered with no response in return.
Finally, there were Poppy's lessons, which focused heavily on the written laws of the Kingdom, which were numerous, most of which were understandable, but some were confusing, and many of which sounded like pure insanity.
Poppy was very strict when it came to laws and how to best follow them, but Kenny saw several ways that the laws of the kingdom could easily become corrupted and abused, which made Poppy greatly upset once she began to consider the ways that the laws could be misinterpreted. Being a woman of rules, she thought that every law made sense and wasn't supposed to be corrupted in any form, but knowing that there would be days in which court cases could be wrong, she began to wonder if there were ways that she could fix this lack of clarity.
Poppy and Kenny soon began to talk of a judicial system of sorts, which could allow for laws to be interpreted in many different ways, meaning that the laws of Butterfly Kingdom didn't have to be stuck in old ways, allowing them to evolve as society changed.
That could bring forth so much good alongside that Police Force idea for the kingdom from Wren.
Kenny knew that he needed to inform his fiancee about the sheer amount of chaos going on within her nation.
He knew that, as a King, his job was to, as Queen Vesper The Morning Star famously put it, "be the queen's eyes for what she cannot see", and that he was going to live and reign by those words.
Notes:
I figured since the Butterfly Kingdom's been around for almost 900 years, I thought it would make sense for some stuff about each of the Noble Houses to have evolved to be as complex as most modern day nations' departments of various stuff related to their roles. I don't know anything about how Noble Houses work, since I live in a democracy and not a monarchy, but I'll see what I can research and go off of that, both historical Noble Houses, as well as modern ones, along with some stuff related to the departments of various stuff from my own country and other democracies and republics for an idea of how that works. I'll see if I can research tribal governments if I have the ability to write that as respectfully as I can. For those of you who have tribal governments, you are free to tell me as much as you know, so I can write that kind of thing accurately.
Chapter 13: How Do You Fix A Princess' Broken Heart?
Chapter Text
Kenny knew that he needed to tell Terra what their Council had told him regarding Butterfly Kingdom.
He didn't exactly have a plan as to how to respectfully tell her without making her upset, but knowing that she was going to become upset no matter which way he told her, he figured that she'd have to be given a wake up call at some point, even if she wasn't going to take it well.
"Terra, can I talk to you about something important?" Kenny asked her. It was one of their experimental nights, but instead of a night of sensuality, tonight would be a night of political discussions.
Terra was in her nightgown, which was white with a black upside-down pentagram printed onto the chest, while Kenny was wearing a nightshirt and sweatpants, gray in color. They were in Terra's room, and there was a heavy silent tension hanging over them.
"Sure. You know that you can tell me anything. What's this about?" Terra replied. It hurt Kenny to see such an innocent smile on her face, but he knew that he had to tell her the burdens that were going to come with the Crown, if she didn't already know, of course.
"It's about the kingdom, and what kind of state it's in right now." Kenny began as he told Terra everything about the situations that the future Ministry informed him about, much to Terra's faltering smile as it turned into a trembling frown, which Kenny knew was going to happen.
They canceled their experimental nights, deciding to resume them on their wedding night onwards. Kenny was pretty much banned from his fiancee's room until further notice, and Terra refused to leave, only going out for meals and bathroom related activities.
She started smiling less. Her clothing styles changed from her usual gothic Lolita dresses to hoodies and jeans. Whenever anybody went to her room to check on her, they often saw her reading books on Mewnian politics, history, Celestialism, and so on, as well as practicing her magic, using all of the spell books that were in the house, which were a lot, considering that four of the people who lived in it were mages to some degree, Terra included.
She barely spoke to anyone, with Glossaryck being the only exception. When she did speak to others, it was only for saying terms of politeness, rather than making small talk or engaging in longer conversations.
Kenny had now had enough of her shift in behavior, as he was now at her bedroom door.
He knocked on the door, and waited for her voice.
"Who is it?"
"It's your hubby-bubby."
"Kenneth, go away."
Kenny's eyes widened in surprise. This was the first time that she had ever called him by his proper name, apart from when she stated the name of her betrothed when they first met. Was she really that upset to not even use one her many pet names for him?
"Terra, are you alright?"
No response.
"Well, my room's open for ya, in case you ever feel ready to talk about the whole, uh, broken nation issue thing."
"How do I know that you're telling me the truth?"
"You could try out that All Knowing Alethiometer's Eye Spell, or whatever it's called. That spell of your Grandma Eclipsa, or is it your Grandma Vesper's magic? Well, whichever one helps you, I hope you can still trust me, even after I've seriously fucked up."
Terra opened the door to her room, held up Elentiya to Kenny's face, and invoked the Truth Seeker Spell, in High Mewnian.
"Lodjasi Selestheale
Aldigatei echnos eduvitaei
Etherian echnos hogwoe
Egursus echni doprangi."
Kenny didn't exactly understand what she had just said, but knew that it was a spell, if the echoes in her voice were anything to go on.
Terra then pointed the spear-tip of her wand towards his chest, but stated that she had no intention to harm him, as soon, a hologram of what looked like a combination of a clock, a compass, and a zodiac wheel with three needles and 32 symbols appeared in front of them.
Chapter 14: Keep The Goddess On My Side (She Demands A Sacrifice)
Chapter Text
Kenny had been allowed to be back into Terra's room again, much to the delight of both of them.
Their sexual experimentation had become much more rare, but were far from nonexistent, since their together nights were now being spent talking and debating about what they were going to do for when Terra was to be crowned, the topics related to the big event ranging from their wedding ceremony and the possible names of their future children to methods of how to reform criminals via rehabilitation and the ideas of public education for the smallfolk.
There were also plenty of nights in which Terra would allow for Kenny to hold Elentiya to try his hand at magic, but possibly due to lacking an Anodite Spark, a side effect of Lacrimosa poisoning that was still lingering even after being cured, or maybe due to other reasons that they didn't know of, Elentiya never transformed to match Kenny's personality nor allowed him to preform magic of any kind. Kenny could easily learn the words and steps and symbols needed, but since he had no proper training nor ability, he'd still be given no results by the staff.
As for their sexual meetings, they still followed the rules that they were given and had set. They still used safe-words and were still using contraceptives to avoid teenage parenthood and a scandalous reputation. Whenever they did pleasure themselves, they often tried their best to keep quiet, which would fail quite often, for obvious reasons, much to Devlin's annoyance and disgust. No details were given about what they would do regarding their sex life, as both of them were pretty private people, despite what many would think, knowing their respective parents' reputations as being on the more impure side when it came to physical affections and attraction, or so rumors would always speak of anyways.
Chapter 15: Learning From History
Chapter Text
Terra was still busying herself with magic, but had grown bored of trying to learn High Mewnian through the books, both educational and religious, that were given to her by her mother to look over to refine her incantations, and while Terra was fluent with the language, she felt as if she had no reason to use it, until she noticed the usage of High Mewnian within both historical records and in spells, a few of which were in the chapter of Queen Hekatia The Necromancer.
She was familiar with the name of her Grandma Hekatia, going off of both the biography that Glossaryck had written down about her and her chapter, which was mostly scattered pages and invisible scribblings, but was always curious about the nature of the spells within the mind of the Queen Necromancer, always wanting to speak to her in whatever way she could think about, but since Terra had no skills in necromancy, she figured that, since she herself was a descendant of Hekatia, she could easily try her hand at learning from history by speaking to the ghost of the very queen.
Terra asked Glossaryck about having the ability to speak to the ghost of Queen Hekatia, he only said that "If [she was] really considering talking to dead people, [she might've needed] to start with speaking to someone who knew them from when they were alive.", which made sense to Terra as she began to ask the small blue skinned man about the lives of every queen before her mother's current reign in as much detail as possible, even asking about the day-to-day and second-by-second of each and every member of her Butterfly side, knowing that the House Lucitor already had their own records and history, just as every culture and family did.
Terra spent the next several weeks studying the lives of her maternal ancestors, discussing them with Kenny during some of their together nights, and continuing to try her hand at "reading the minds of the past", as she put it.
She frequently experimented with this "historical telepathy" concept for as many nights as she could, creating a spell to do so, making revisions and edits for every time she just couldn't get it done perfectly.
She named the spell "Psionic Database Transcription", which allowed for Terra to access the minds of anyone who had given their consent to be able to transfer information from that person's mind and into a book, thus, creating a primary source of information that almost nobody else would know of, save for the person whom the information had come from and the spellcaster.
"So, do you think that I should do it?" Terra asked Kenny and Glossaryck, wondering if it would be safe to do it for a ghost.
Kenny was disturbed by the idea, but didn't want to not talk to the ghost of his Grandmother-In-Law Necromancer, so he gave Terra the okay. Glossaryck simply said that he had no issue with Terra's desire to literally learn from history.
Terra preformed her spell, using an English translation for Kenny's sake.
"If you desire to share your mind with me.
I wish to be able to speak to thee.
Hekatia of House Butterfly.
Queen Necromancer."
The crystal within Elentiya began to glow a dark shade of purple that was almost black in color.
"Uh... Is this supposed to happen?" Kenny asked.
"I think so." Terra replied.
Elentiya's spear tip soon began to spill out some kind of dark red fluid, glowing a bright green, which looked as impossible as it sounded, but it was very much real. The violet colored composition book that had blank pages inside of it, which Kenny had bought for Terra for this very night, quickly became a hardcover textbook, with the title of "The Grimoire Of Queen Necromancer Hekatia Butterfly" written in cursive, with the symbol of three moons, on its cover, in golden ink.
At the end of the event, a small stone totem, much like the style of Charmcaster's magic, had been created.
The totem was 10 cm tall and resembled every depiction of Queen Necromancer that still existed in the modern day, her Grandma Room tapestry included. Upon being lifted, the bottom of the totem showed off her cheek emblem and had her signature carved into the circumference. The totem was lavender in color and looked like she was holding a torch with a small pink flame made of thick glass.
"Did the spell work right?" He asked.
"I'm not sure. This is my first time casting this spell." Terra replied, just as confused. "The Psionic Database Transcription Spell is supposed to allow for me to gain info from both the living and the dead, but I guess since we're trying to talk to a dead person, the best way for them to come to us is to turn into a totem?" She guessed, simply going off of what she had just witnessed.
Terra picked up the totem of her Grandma Necromancer and tried to speak to her.
"Um, hello Grandma Hekatia. I'm Terra."
Chapter 16: Things To Be Learned From
Chapter Text
Hekatia was talking to Terra, but it wasn't out loud, as most totems were obviously unable to speak, but they could communicate via telepathy, which for who knew what reason, could also be heard by canine and avian creatures. No one really knew how or why, but magic was weird like that sometimes.
"Hello, Terra." She greeted, her tone one of a bit of dizziness. Hekatia wasn't familiar with English, so Terra needed to translate for Kenny's sake, since he was still learning High and Low Mewnian, which was very much a tongue of an alien nature, but was thankfully relatively easy to learn.
"She's saying hello to me." Terra explained.
Kenny couldn't hear anything from Hekatia, but after having witnessed her somewhat coming back from the dead as some kind of statue ghost totem, he decided to not question the nature of Mewnian magic at this point, since Terra was going to be his wife regardless, so asking her about her magic stuff would answer itself either way, be it sooner or later.
Kenny began to frequently check up on his fiancee, finding out over the following weeks that Terra had made more Psionically Transcribed grimoires and totems of her Queen Butterfly ancestors, taking in some kind of know-how on the respective spells and the like, all of the totems being composed of various stones, and their respective books appearing as if they were made out of various materials that normal books, most grimoires included, weren't supposed to made out of, ranging from insectoid wings to what was most likely a sliver of the literal sun.
Kenny understood where Terra was coming from, since he was the first person that she had informed regarding the Psionic Transcription Spell, but there was still something deeply unnerving about what Terra was doing. He had told his parents about his concerns in private, but as neither of them were wizards, they didn't know of anything that could aid in the situation, let alone of knowing how to make it end, simply saying that Terra would probably be finished at some point, and that was that.
Chapter 17: Apple Test
Notes:
(See the end of the chapter for notes.)
Chapter Text
Star was worried about her daughter's safety after finding out about her soon-to-be-son-in-law's survival from Lacrimosa poisoning and the events that soon followed. She knew that there were people who wanted her to die and be replaced by Terra, but she never thought about the risks of her daughter's in-laws being attacked.
Much to Tom's upset, Star called the Crown Princess and told her that she was going to be tested by Baby. Terra responded with a look of both acceptance and distain, but only told her mother this:
"I will allow for Baby to come over, but I will have to warn you, I've been doing a lot of experimentation with my magic."
Terra was getting everything that she had that was magic related as organized as possible, which was making everyone else within the home confused and concerned.
"Okay, what is making you act like this? You've been weird all morning." Janna pointed out to Terra, who was just now remembering that she needed to provide a lot of food.
"Food! We need to make, like, a feast's worth of food, like, right now!" Terra spat out in the midst of her panicking.
"Have you tried utilizing the pantry?" Wren said in a sarcastic tone.
"Levitato!" Said the princess as her hands began to become coated in a bright green aura, making the kitchen look as if it was coming to life, if the sounds coming from it were any indication.
Baby had finally come over to evaluate Terra, holding her typical pen and clipboard.
"Greetings, Your Royal Highness." She said as she gave a bow of respect. Upon turning her attention to Kenny, she gave him a bow as well, addressing him as "Your Future Grace", which made him uncomfortable, but he said nothing regarding it, simply returning the bow and welcoming her to his home.
"Now, shall we get started, Princess?" Baby asked as she adjusted her paws into a writing position.
"We shall, Godmother."
Terra finally had a chance to show off everything regarding her magic, and was loving every last second of it, up until the apple test began.
"Would you kindly bring me that apple, Terra?"
"What apple?" Terra asked just before a bright green apple appeared at the foot of her bed. "Oh, that apple. Should be easy." Terra said as she walked towards the fruit, picked it up, and gave it to Baby, who promptly teleported it back to the foot of Terra's bed.
"Let me try this again. Would you kindly bring me that apple, using your magic?" Baby asked, correcting herself, familiar with such a common mistake.
Terra, now understanding what Baby was looking for, quickly got to work, simply using Levitato to bring the apple to her. Baby was surprised by the fact that Terra was able to do wandless magic while still at the beginner level, but that wasn't the only thing about Terra's magic that was surprising to her, as while the apple did get sent to her using magic, it was what happened after that which amazed everyone in attendance.
The apple, once it was in Baby's grasp, quickly rewound itself back into a flower, and then a seed, and then became an entire apple tree, but each leaf and flower and fruit wasn't anything like a typical apple plant, as they were all composed of various materials, none of which were related to any species and cultivar of apple, or any plant for that matter, as it was now made from stones, metals, gems, minerals, and everything else in between, with every last part of the tree being safe to interact with. The only parts of the tree that were still like a normal apple tree were the trunk and roots and branches.
Baby dropped her pen and clipboard in shock.
"How did you do that?" The fairy-like feline asked, entirely stunned at what she had just witnessed.
"I just randomly thought about apples that weren't made out of apple parts, and started thinking about rocks and stuff, so I guess my magic just reacted to that, or something?" Terra explained, just as shocked at what she had just done.
Baby went back to Mewni, informing Star about Terra's progress in magic.
"So far, Terra's broken Rule 6 with her fiance, now knows about your war crimes and the current state of your reign, has been using illegal Dimensional Scissors, has been housing the Noble Heirs, went through Mewberty inside the one of the Tennyson-Green Manor's most restricted rooms, can do wandless magic without the need to dip down, created a spell that allows someone whose given her their consent to transcribe their minds and fill blank books with any selected information desired, including the minds of her Queen Butterfly ancestors, all of whom are now totems, a potion that allows one to control complex machinery, a ritual that creates a lantern charm, a dance that allows her to look into past events, and during the apple test, she created an apple tree that grows leaves, flowers and fruit made from non-radioactive stones, metals, and jewels." Baby explained, much to Star's surprise upon hearing the results.
"So... What kind of grade does she get?" Star asked, stunned.
"I don't think I've ever seen anything on the scale that Terra is on. She's a Day Queen, who tend to be quite powerful in terms of magical skills, but the only other Day Queen that I can even begin to make a comparison to for Terra's magic..." Baby stopped herself, the memories of Queen Helia The Light Of Power floating around her mind. She normally didn't use Helia as a point of measurement, as it would be doing a disservice, but she was going to have to make an exception to her rules, just this once.
She took in a deep breath, and made her comparison.
"All that I can say regarding Terra's magic is that... If Queen Helia was the sun, then Crown Princess Terra is practically the entire Soupina Galaxy." Baby said, her voice uneasy, but firm in her statement.
Notes:
Yes, the Mewnians named their galaxy after a woman named after soup. Queen Soupina Butterfly The Strange, to be exact. Do with that what you will.
Chapter 18: Entering Elentiya: Part 1 Of 2
Notes:
Okay, just a quick disclaimer, lots of religion stuff is gonna be in this chapter, so if you're not comfortable with that, you don't have to read this chapter. In case you're interested, there's going to be a bit of syncretism weirdness regarding the Abrahamic God and Jesus and the whole Angel War thing, and if you're super confused, please do keep in mind that this is going to be discussed from an alien, meaning that, while us Earthlings may have a good understanding of the context related to our own religions, there's naturally going to be a lot of confusion about said religions from the perspective of a person who has never been exposed to them, and thus, would obviously try to make sense of our traditions and faiths by viewing them from the POV's given from their own cultural backgrounds, which is what the whole vibes being given off from Terra's flashback wand trip is supposed to feel like.
Chapter Text
Terra had finished her lessons about dipping down, and had already figured it out within a day of learning it. No issues regarding how to dip down, as it just meant that Terra was done with the beginner and medium levels in terms of skill, or, in other words, she was now an advanced wielder of magic.
She wanted a new challenge to conquer.
Glossaryck understood where Terra's desire to strengthen her skills and knowledge of magic, so he agreed to allow Terra to enter her wand, in order to better understand her magic, rather than finding the thing that didn't belong, as he had done so for Star.
The one rule that Terra was given, for while she was within the staff, was that she was not to separate from Glossaryck under any circumstances.
Terra refused to break the rule that her teacher had given her as they entered Elentiya. The two of them first found themselves in the memory of Terra's royal private quarters as soon as they opened the door to the bedroom that she was staying in while on Earth, also the memory version instead of the real one.
She was in her memories of Mewni. Butterfly Castle, to be specific, within the capital city of St. Urania's Township, which was her hometown.
Everything in her room and town were perfectly accurate to the real places in question, ranging from her toys and clothes, even including her Princess Marco doll, which was a birthday gift from her mother back when she was five. Nowadays, Terra had outgrown the doll, but back when she was a girl who played with toys, she would often play "Kingdoms And Invaders" with the toy. Her favorite role to give to Princess Marco was the role of an "Un-Woman" who would always be punished by the sword for her blasphemy by Terra, who would often play the role of "Queen Conqueror" for her own empire.
She deeply loved playing such games with the servants and guards during those days.
The next place that they found themselves in was the interior of the Great Butterfly Celestum, where many followers of Celestialism often came and went for the many reasons relating to their faith the Goddess, just as much as any place of worship would be for any other religion.
Celestea, also known as Selesthea, Celestia, Celes, Thea, Dea, and a bunch of other names and epithets, was, in the religion of Celestialism, viewed as the "Great Mother Of The Universe And Of Everything That Lives In It", meaning that She was the creator of all good things, as well as all bad things, which was where the syncretism between Goddess and the God-Called-Abraham quickly diverged, as Celes was a pure neutral deity, while the God-Called-Abraham was a deity of nothing but pure good and didn't allow for bad things.
That wasn't the only point of divergence between the Goddess and the God-Called-Abraham, however, as there a few other details.
For Thea, She created the Universe and gave the world of Mewni to the Mewnians to call home, and went somewhere else to rest from Her work. There are no records for how long She had taken to create everything.
For the God-Called-Abraham, He spent six days creating the Universe and everything in it, only resting from His work on the seventh day, which became something called The Sabbath.
For Celes, once She had concluded Her work and just before leaving to rest, She took the brightest star in the sky and formed it into the Empress-Blown-From-Star, who would become the first Divine Celestial Empress and would reign for 10,000 years. Then, just before Blown-From-Star returned to Her Mother, She took a piece of the dawn's early light and formed it into the Empress-Woven-From-Dawn, who would reign for 5,000 years. Then, just before joining Her Mother and Grandmother, Woven-From-Dawn took a portion of the sun, Helia, and formed into the Empress-Forged-From-Sun, who would reign for 2,500 years. Then, just before returning to Her Family, Forged-From-Sun broke off a piece of each of the Moons, Diana, Dirhhennia, and Darlene, and formed them into Empress-Carved-From-Moon, who would reign for 1,250 years. Finally, just before leaving Her Throne, Carved-From-Moon stole a small piece of the sky and formed it into the Empress-Chanted-From-Sky, who was said to be the final ruler of the Divine Celestial Empire, but had grown disgusted by the rise of corruption and sins within the Mewnian peoples, and due to finding Herself unable to fix the damages, left Her Empire behind to search for Celestia, in order to bring back the peace and prosperity that had now become lost. Chanted-From-Sky reigned for only 625 years, and left behind no Heiress, only leaving behind a broken world.
For the God-Called-Abraham, He created a Court of creatures called Angels, who were His servants, but there were many Angels who did not desire to have the People Of Eden, as well as themselves, be allowed to blindly obey the laws of the Angel Court, and thus, rebelled. The leader of these rebellious Angels was named Lucifer, who declared that the People Of Eden deserved to be educated in the nature of the Universe and to grow wise from their knowledge, but the Angelic Court did not desire for such ideas. This declaration of education quickly led to a war between the Rebellion and the Court, in which, the Rebellion lost, and were exiled to Eden Realm, where they found themselves worshipped by the Eden Folk as deities within their own right. That made the Angelic Court angry, as they began to create plans for an avatar of dust, which would allow for the God-Called-Abraham to take on the form one of the Eden Folk. It worked, as this avatar of dust was named the Messiah-Formed-From-Dust, who would go and say that He was the Son Of The Grand Cosmic Father and preform magical acts of charity. Messiah-Formed-From-Dust stated Himself as the one and only savior of the world, for He would end sin, which was in truth, at least from the Mewnian perspective, knowledge given from Lucifer to the Eden Folk. The Messiah-Formed-From-Dust was nailed and tortured on a crucifix, in the name of the God-Called-Abraham and for the Eden Folk, who He desired to keep as slaves to Him and His Empire-Of-Grand-Ignorance, with the Angelic Court forever remaining as His servants, save for the Rebellion, who removed their old forms and reshaped themselves to become new gods for the Eden Folk, creating the religions that were still practiced by the Eden Folk to this day, making the sacrifice of Messiah-Formed-From-Dust ultimately pointless.
Regarding Terra's own relationship with her faith, she had grown up partially within the walls of the Great Celestum, as there would be days and nights and even whole months where her mother would take her to the building, not for any desire for her to learn of the religion, but rather, as a form of punishment for when she had been told that she had been a bad behaving child. Terra hated it whenever Star would pull out that dumb rose-gold bell from her dress pockets and ring it, as it meant that Terra was a sinner, and that she'd be sent off to the Celestum for grounding. Because of this, Terra had grown up learning her theology from the Cadentines, Astrines, Celestrines, and even the College Of Celestreans and the High Celestrean themselves, making her a surprisingly devout worshipper of the Celestial Church, which was something that her betrothed and his family learned very quickly during the Earth holidays of Hanukah and Christmas just last month, which was called December, with the New Year beginning in the month currently being called January, which was, for Mewni, the month of Butterfly. Kenny had already suspected the fact that Terra was very strict with her spirituality, and had no issues with studying Celestialism if it meant being able to better relate to his future homeworld's peoples, as he had seen the copy of the "Compendium Of The Cosmos" that Terra owned, which had a light pink cover with yellow pages, the ink in the book being as blue as the midnight sky of Earth, and the spine heavily broken. On the cover was the symbol of a red-brown butterfly/moth with a black outline surrounded by a circle that appeared to be a sun-like glyph, as from the circumference was edged with five rays, each filled by different color, with blue representing Empress-Blown-From-Star, orange for Empress-Woven-From-Dawn, yellow to recall Empress-Forged-From-Sun, violet to invoke Empress-Carved-From-Moon, and magenta in honor of Empress-Chanted-From-Sky.
Terra knew the Great Butterfly Celestum very well. It was her second home, after all. She had no choice but to call it such.
The next place that they went to was the one room that Terra was strictly forbidden to go into, but still had vague memories of, despite her mother's efforts to keep her ignorant.
The Grandma Room.
To Be Continued...
Chapter 19: Entering Elentiya: Part 2 Of 2
Chapter Text
Terra was now inside the Grandma Room with Glossaryck.
"The Grandma Room? Why are we in the one room that I'm not allowed to be in?" Terra asked, not sure as to why she was in here, or why she was even allowed to ever remember this room. The last time she was in the Grandma Room, it was on her Lonely Star Ball, which Kenny had no memory of, but Terra did remember, but was told to forget her tenth birthday, as her mother rang the bell and had her sent off to the Great Butterfly Celestum the day afterwards.
She grew to admire the Grandma Room, as it was the mystique of those depicted that drove her to lust after the secrets of her family.
The skylight began to open up, allowing the triple moonlight to illuminate the Grandma Room.
Terra and Glossaryck were now in the presence of ten past queens.
Hekatia The Necromancer.
Luna The Child.
Hemera The Builder.
Galaxia The Clairvoyant.
Hesperia The Singer Of Dusk.
Febe The Red One.
Diana The Huntress.
Vesper The Morning Star.
Polaria The Navigator.
Star The Rebellious, but that was not her true title, as Terra soon learned as she read the portraits of her grannies.
Hekatia The Necromancer
"In her quest for knowledge,
She eventually discovered
That there are spells
That should never be conjured."
That was what her pedestal said regarding her. She was a tall woman, with pinkish-lavender hair and eyes and light skin, which was almost a deathly pale tone. On her cheeks were the dark indigo symbols of the natural phenomenon of Hekatism, which simply just meant that the three moons of Mewni were in the waxing crescent/full moon/waning crescent pattern of their phases, which wasn't a fixed date on the Asterian Calendar. For the Butterfly Kingdom, the nights in which Hekatism occurred was known as St. Hekatia's Day, which could best be compared to the Earth holiday of Dia de los Muertos.
Queen Necromancer was a queen who had a deep fascination with the "magical nature of death" after an encounter with zombies conjured up by the then newly crowned King Lucitor of her era, The Dark Ages, and from there, learned the secrets of the dead and how to make sense of death through magic, but ended up destroying her works, after realizing something that only forced her to say that "there are things that should remain misunderstood."
Terra, being half Lucitor, had some skills in the Necromantic Arts now, as dipping down made it much easier, but she wasn't perfect in her work. Terra could invoke her ancestors without much effort, and could easily speak to them. Hekatia included.
They were both women who loved to learn from the dead, just doing so in different respects.
Luna The Child
"The child abandoned
By the heartless mother.
Assuming her duties
Much younger than any other."
Terra had always felt pity for the Child Queen. Luna was only eight years old when her mother abdicated. Luna was a girl with bright pink hair and bright green eyes, whose wand was once a rattle, which froze into a rose of blood red crystal.
Every flower had her thorns, and the Child Queen was proof of that.
Terra was no different in terms of being a woman who had a burden on her shoulders at such a young age, but at least Terra had the luxury of having a childhood.
It was often said that the Child Queen was wise beyond her years.
Hemera The Builder
"Building her thoughts into reality,
Constructing a long lasting legacy,
It was a structure so pristine,
Every hall and room fit for a queen."
Queen Builder was a woman who dressed as if she was an Egyptian pharaoh, with black hair that had a bluish touch, blue eyeshadow over her shut eyelids, and pink pyramids on her cheeks.
There was just something so strangely enviable about Queen Builder that Terra couldn't help but ask questions. She often remembered wondering the halls of Butterfly Castle, trying her best to hunt down every last secret place that could be found, but despite her efforts, nothing.
Maybe now that Terra had access to Hemera's totem and grimoire, she could finally locate the hidden places within her home.
It was far from uncommon for Terra to wonder if there were other kingdoms on Mewni that had hidden places of their own.
Galaxia The Clairvoyant
"Preventing wars and diseases;
Foreseeing the future.
This was the power
Of the queen of unique nature."
When Terra first met Vela, she quickly turned to thoughts of the Clairvoyant Queen, since both of them were albinos, and Vela's middle name was Galaxia, in honor of the queen. Ever since the reign of the Clairvoyant Queen, all albino Mewnians were said to be St. Galaxia blessed, as it was now a common superstition that albinos on Mewni shared the gifts of Galaxia, which was the ability to perceive the world around them in ways that were often impossible.
Would Terra create a superstition about hybrid Mewnians after she was long dead too?
Hesperia The Singer Of Dusk
"The firstborn of the greatest warrior
Great things were expected of her.
Until she took a peaceful route instead.
From her songs, many a tear were shed."
The most wonderous voice in Mewnian history was the one that Terra wished she was around to hear, but alas, she would have to be content with the many plays and songs that the Queen Singer has now immortalized herself in. Hesperia had become immortal, by making herself part of the culture of a people and their nation, her performances being proof of that very detail.
Terra had shared a deep love for music and dance, even if her fiance was out of sync with her. His skills with drums and strings and acting more than made up for his bad waltz steps. Maybe they could spend their first wedding anniversary in the Theater Square and watch a play created by the Singer Of Dusk...
Febe The Red One
"Losing her beloved soulmate
After the crimson light fell,
For no one to share her fate,
On the moon she cast a spell."
Terra had no shame in showing off her romantic side, if the lipstick on Kenny's face (and sometimes, his body below the lips and, if he allowed it, his "tower where his armies readied themselves for conquering Terra's castle gates") was anything to go from. Kenny wasn't exactly the kind of guy who enjoyed Romanticism, as he viewed it as, in his own words, "a waste of genre", most likely confusing it for the literary nonsense that Earthlings mistook as love, which was more along the lines of abuse, which Romance certainly was far from such.
Romance was a form of expression. It was the expression of love, not just between people, but also of nature and emotion and the arts in all their forms.
When Terra showed off her romantic side to Kenny, she was simply revealing her love for him, no matter what form he was in, as that was love for her. Earthlings had so many beautiful words for love, and the one that suited Terra's love for Kenny was that of Eros.
To love another person within and without.
Diana The Huntress
"In the hazy depths of the woods,
The secrets take shape;
Guided by arrows so sudden
That no one can escape."
How could one run from the arrows of the Huntress Queen? Simple, you couldn't. That was a trick question, which was half the fun. The Huntress Queen was said to know the roads of Mewni better than anyone. After all, when a queen writes a book, she's bound to leave a mark on the world.
Terra had her own copy of the "Route Of Wonders" written by the Huntress Queen, and had broken the spine enough times to need regular repairs. She always wanted to travel to the kingdoms outside of Butterfly, and while going to other planets and dimensions was nice, she wanted to know more about her homeworld of Mewni, which felt so small when compared to the rest of the Omniverse.
Vesper The Morning Star
"During the hard years of darkness,
When the scarce hope is already far.
The evening star will be revealed
Like the brightest morning star."
Queen Morning Star, who Kenny and his family, at first, confused for some dude named Mike of House Morningstar or something, which greatly offended Terra, as she thought that her ancestor was being insulted by being compared to a vampire, which just caused even greater confusion until it was clarified that Vesper was a queen who had the title of the Morning Star, rather than being a member of the Morningstar family, which was now extinct ever since that Mike guy died by Mewnian Fire in some battle between the Mushroom Kingdom and Japan.
Regarding the Queen Morning Star herself, Terra had a deep respect for Vesper, which grew rapidly when she was informed of the state of her nation, even if it broke her heart to hear it.
Polaria The Navigator
"An explorer like her mother
In the seas of Mewni ventured
In navigations that by
The Star of the Queen were guided."
A confusing rhyme scheme when translated into English, yes, but it still made sense regarding the Queen Navigator, who Terra had to admit, was her personal favorite Queen from the Age Of Ascension, as travelling the seas made the world not feel as small as it often did.
Maybe that's what drew Terra to gain her love for the ocean, and her former crush on Atlantic when they were younger, but that crush died out as soon as Terra was told of her engagement. If she were not the Crown Princess of Butterfly, Terra would've easily chosen to join the Butterfly Kingdom Royal Navy if it meant that she was able to go past the stormier parts of the oceans and explore more of her homeworld.
Star The Titan
"A selfish and heartless queen
Who broke the worlds.
To the son of a hero her heiress was to be wed
In order to end the resulting wars."
Terra didn't understand what the poem was referring to until she looked up at the tapestry, which depicted her mother, who was dressed in an outfit that she now recognized as that of a disgusting madman from Earth's history, but it was missing the symbol that was usually on his left arm, which made sense, as it wouldn't translate very well between Earth culture and Mewni culture, but the rest of the outfit was spot on, albeit heavily altered to suit Mewnian culture.
The clothing was a grey suit, covered in many colors, mainly red, which was blood. There was depictions of blood all over her mother's body, especially on all six of her hands. Her mother looked like she was being nailed to a crucifix, her crown being one of thorns. Her mother was holding a swaddled baby who had a small devil's tail. Terra, almost instinctively, knew that the baby in the tapestry was her.
Her mother had been lying to her all her life.
Chapter 20: "My fiancee might have some form of depression. What do I do?"
Chapter Text
"My fiancee might have some form of depression. What do I do?"
That was what he had typed into his laptop. Kenny was growing more and more concerned for Terra's mental health, as she looked like she was getting worse. This wasn't like when he told her about the issues regarding the Butterfly Kingdom, as there was an air of broken trust and a lack of eating.
Terra was clearly beginning to enter the typical stages of depression, and Kenny didn't know how to help her. Desmond had been spending several days and nights reading through every psychology book that he had available, and the symptoms all matched clinical depression, which greatly worried everyone. A broken minded ruler of any country was never a good thing. History and current events had proven that.
Terra was upset about something that had broken her, and Kenny needed to know what it was that was hurting his bride.
Kenny had invited Terra over for one of their together nights, secretly having invited his family and her council-to-be, as a form of intervention.
Terra opened up and followed him into his bedroom, surprised to see a circle of loved ones in her presence, all sharing looks of worry towards her.
"What's all of this about?" Terra asked, not understanding.
"Listen, we're all concerned about you, and this was the best thing that I could come up with. This is kind of an intervention. Now, just tell us what's been making you so upset." Kenny answered, encouraging Terra to speak up about her issues.
Terra broke out into a rather lengthy vent about her trip into the wand, and finding the tapestry and poem of her mother, Star The Titan, which translated to "tyrant" in Mewnian. A fitting title for a queen like her. The Crown Princess soon revealed her history of the rose-gold handbell that her mother would use to force her to go to the Great Butterfly Celestum as a form of punishment for when she misbehaved, which disgusted them all, as it was flat out religious abuse.
It seemed that even aliens could have abusive homes.
Regarding her relationship with her father, that was practically non-existent. Since her father was King Lucitor, he wasn't really around Terra except for birthdays and holidays and the like, essentially making him a ghost to her.
She didn't know where the relief began and the pain ended as she continued talking about her issues, but she now understood that the relationship between her and her mother wasn't normal.
Her entire life was her mother's punishment, and she was the main target for her mother's abuse, which she now knew was abuse.
Chapter 21: Yamamoto Pier
Notes:
(See the end of the chapter for notes.)
Chapter Text
Terra was feeling more positive, but bouts of her upset still kicked in from time to time. Freshmen year and the following summer came and went, and Kenny was now a sophomore, while Devlin was now a junior.
Things were becoming relatively normal, in a weird sense of the word.
"You. Me. Juliet Yamamoto Memorial Pier. Sundown tomorrow." Kenny said, making it clear regarding the location and time. Terra was taken by surprise by the odd sounding ask out, but accepted, knowing that he was going to have to ask her out at some point during their courtship period.
"Very well. I accept. It's a date, darling!" She replied, her tail wagging in delight while giving him a smooch on the back of his left hand. The base of his left ring finger to be specific. Kenny didn't quite expect the kiss, but he welcomed it, returning the favor by giving Terra a kiss on the lips, much to her joy.
A date at the pier was met with an enthusiastic response from Ben, who at some point dated the very girl that Yamamoto Pier was named after. Kai was a bit jealous, but she seemed to be cool about it, despite being a bit miffed.
After being dropped off at Yamamoto Pier, the betrothed set off on their fist date.
Sixteen smoothie flavors, ten small animal plushies (five for each of them), and some cotton candy later, the two of them were getting hungry for some real food.
"So, how much cash you got on ya, sweetie?" Terra asked, having just finished all of the cotton candy that she had on her.
Kenny got out his wallet and pulled out $650, much to Terra's surprise.
"Just $650. What're you in the mood for?" He asked, treating having six-hundred and fifty dollars as if it was nothing.
"Can we try a buffet place?"
"Sure. Just let me call Mom and Dad first."
Before Kenny could get his phone out, they soon saw what looked like a person, wearing a white cloak over themselves, teleporting right at the edge of the pier. The person in the white cloak had grey skin, a reptilian form, black hair, and eyes that had yellow irises surrounded by white, with serpentine pupils. Underneath the lizard man's cloak, was a fairly nice looking suit that was bright red in color. Those who were seeing the lizard man's arrival quickly ignored him, rather than staring and asking him any questions, for they all knew that he wasn't one for meaningless chatter. Children were told to stay close to their families, while adults who didn't have families fled the scene.
The lizard man walked up to Terra and Kenny, who didn't understand what was going on. The lizard man gave a bow of respect, recognizing Terra as royalty, thanks to her cheekmarks.
"Hello, Queen Terra." He greeted.
"I'm not Queen Butterfly yet. Not until I'm married." Terra clarified for the lizard man, glancing briefly at her fiance, before returning her attention back to him. "Who are you, and why are you here?" She asked.
"I am here to make an offering of peace between Mewmans and Monsters." The lizard man explained.
"And your name?" Kenny chimed in.
"You may call me Toffee." The lizard man, Toffee, answered, as he pulled out a takeout menu for the couple. The menu was for a place called "Aquatic Starlight", which looked like some sort of underwater/space themed restaurant.
"What's this for?" The couple asked in unison.
"Dinner for a lovely bride and groom. Food's on me." Toffee replied.
Notes:
In case you're questioning how and why Toffee is re-alive again, the answer is actually quite simple: Bone marrow. Since Toffee's bones would most likely still have marrow within them, his regeneration powers would've still been able to activate, and thus, new Toffee.
Chapter 22: Aquatic Starlight
Chapter Text
Aquatic Starlight was an underwater restaurant, with the food being served in airtight containers or just served raw for indoor hunting by the guests. As one would expect, the staff and patrons were all members of aquatic and/or amphibious species. How the culinary staff were even able to cook without boiling everyone alive was anyone's guess. For patrons that were unable to survive underwater, their food was simply given to them through delivery by takeout bubbles.
The decorations of the building were very diverse in terms of which culture each piece came from, ranging from the common chashitsu teahouses of the Japanese countryside to the cafes of many French cities, and so on and so forth. For Kenny and Terra, this place was a hidden gem of discoveries, but for Toffee, Aquatic Starlight was a place that was essentially a second home.
The three of them had ordered their food and started talking about various topics, mostly those of a political nature, until the betrothed were finished with their meal and Toffee needed to leave in order to return to Mewni. Regarding their conversations, Toffee mostly informed the couple about the Monsters' side of Queen Star's reign, and that the rulers of the Monster Nations had sent Toffee to serve as a representative in order to invite them to an international diplomacy convention of sorts to discuss relations between the countries involved.
The princess and her consort-to-be briefly debated over if they should go, knowing that they were going to have a lot on their shoulders once they were wed and Terra was crowned Queen Butterfly, but came to an agreement, and informed Toffee that they would both be in attendance for this event.
Kenny looked over at Terra, knowing that they were both nervous to be meeting with foreign rulers from nations that they weren't familiar with. Neither of them knew what to say, and neither of them knew any of the proper customs of the nations involved, let alone had any idea of who they were going to be speaking to.
The people that they were now in the presence of were three of the most powerful people in the Local Group.
The first of these rulers was the Incursion Empress-General Attea of the Imperial House of Anura.
The second of these rulers was Vilgax of the Imperial House of Azathoth, and the Ruling Commander of the Cthulhu Empire.
The third of these rulers was not a ruler at all, but was just as powerful in terms of reign, as he was known as the High Magistrate of the Plumbers. His name was Rook Blonko, who was known as the Diamond Tower in legends all throughout the Local Group.
Blonko was the first to speak, after a long silence between the five of them post-greeting each other.
"Crown Princess Butterfly, are you well?" He asked, knowing full well of everything that the Titan Queen had been doing to her, thanks to his close friendship with his former partner, his family, and their accounts.
"I'm fine, just at a loss on what to say, Diamond Tower." Terra answered, her voice deeply uneasy. It was clear to the Ruling Commander and Empress-General that there was something going on, but neither of them chose to press any further, as they desired to respect the Crown Princess' privacy. It was a silent agreement, but one made from genuine kindness.
"Well, since we're all sure that you might be confused as to what exactly is going on here, this meeting is not one related to warfare, despite what it appears." Vilgax said to finally begin their discussion. As a head of state, it made sense for Vilgax to work in the fields of international diplomacy, so him speaking to another head of state to talk about negotiations was a rational detail to not overlook. The same was true for Empress-General Anura.
The five of them began to ease up on the tension, cutting it with their dagger-like words, and soon found themselves speaking to each other in much warmer tones.
"Now, as to the matter at appendage, if you are comfortable with discussing this, but Ruling Commander Azathoth, High Magistrate Rook and I have agreed to utilize our respective resources to help aid in the post-Four Moons War recovery effort, and have already drafted a treaty between our empires and the nations of Mewni." Said Attea as she started properly bringing up the main reason as to why this meeting was occurring.
Terra, now fully aware of the issues lingering within Butterfly Kingdom, allowed for this discussion to continue, as she understood that this treaty draft could mean good things for her homeworld, and by that same logic, her people.
Kenny was skeptical of the Ruling Commander and Empress-General, mainly due to his own personal prejudices related to the history between the rulers in question and his father, but knowing that his wife's people were in need of a queen who could understand their worldwide trauma, he set those biases aside for the sake of his wife's citizens and homeworld, allowing for himself to be open-minded just enough to discuss this treaty draft.
The five rulers talked and debated on the nature of this treaty draft, ranging from the nations who would benefit the most, to the possibilities of the treaty being a subject of potential riots and protests from the peoples of their respective domains of rule.
Chapter 23: Princess Terra's Song Day Festival
Notes:
(See the end of the chapter for notes.)
Chapter Text
Terra was seventeen now, making this year, in Mewni's Asterian Calendar, 870 a. M., while in Earth's Gregorian Calendar, 2044 AD. Today was September 18th, or on Mewni, Razor Crane 5th. Right now, Vela was being hired as a songstrel, as she was the only one willing to preform for a "monster princess", as some bigots back on Mewni would call her.
Right now, they were stumped on how to approach the nature that Terra wanted to present herself as to her people.
"Ugh! Why does this Song Day thing have to be so stressful?!" Vela whined as she repeatedly banged her head against the dining table in frustration. Desmond patted Vela's back, and then placed a hand on her head, concerned for any damage to her facial bones. Other than impact pain in her forehead and nose, the albino Mewnian girl was fine.
Kenny was told to wear his best clothes for the event.
He was nervous to be attending Terra's Song Day thing at the Theatre Square in St. Urania's Township. He had only seen the capitol city in pictures, and Terra never really gave him a good idea of how to navigate the place, since she only had so much knowledge of her hometown. Why Terra had so little knowledge of her own home was something Kenny refused to question, as he had already figured out that it was just another product of Queen Star's "lovely" parenting.
Kenny had just finished getting himself ready, his best clothing for Song Day being a simple three piece suit, green in color, with a black shirt underneath, and a red tie around his neck. His shoes were simply a pair of black and white sneakers with pink laces, while his socks were pale yellow.
Vela was nervous to be the one preforming Terra's song for the people, but swallowed her fear, and began to sing as the marionette of Terra's likeness began to be lowered down and started to be moved by the puppeteer. The puppet of Terra was wearing a smaller version of the real one's normal royalty clothing, with a pair of broken hearts in its eyes. As for the real Terra, she was wearing a much less complicated dress, which was a simple light green garment with black leggings underneath, with red sandals on her feet. Nothing more, nothing less. Terra wasn't in the mood to wear anything of excess as would be expected by royalty, but as Terra had become jaded with her mother's reign, knowing that she had to be better than her as soon as she was crowned, and upset by her lack of action as a Queen Butterfly, Terra began to wear green clothes as an act of rebellion and a silent declaration of personal independence from Star.
It was a bit of a surprise to see Vilgax, Attea, and their respective families attending the event, but despite Ben's upset, Terra gladly welcomed them to her Song Day, trusting them enough to agree to the treaty of peace that they had discussed not too long ago.
"She is the interstellar bride
Who is beyond unafraid to wear her crown
And earn your respect in stride
She'll take her lead across this nation and every town
She is Terra Butterfly, and she's gonna be our Queen someday
No disaster from the Titan Queen before her is gonna get her down
She'll be the one to return the daylight to these lands
She'll be the one to fix repair this kingdom with her own two hands
She's made her vows, in the eyes of Goddess
Underneath the heavenwood trees
She may appear as the monsters of the Deathly Forest
But she's far from scared to fight the long standing injustice
Daughter of the former Rebel Princess
She'll become one of the best
She's made a promise to us all
That she's gonna take a stand just before she is laid to rest."
The smallfolk greatly enjoyed the song, as did the nobles, happy that Terra was willing to better her nation as the next Queen Butterfly, even if the song was a "puff piece", as Queen Star would put it. As for the Queen's opinion, she seemed upset, but Terra wasn't sure if it was because of the song's genre or if it was because of the lyrics in the song itself.
"Is the Queen alright?" Asked a female servant who had orange hair and teal eyes with light skin. Terra knew her name as Catelyn Moth, a bastard girl who was Devlin's age who managed to find stable employment as a member of the castle staff, even if she was simply a maid to Terra's room. Catelyn's position on staff was to be a Keeper Of The Private Chambers, which simply just meant that her job was to make sure that Terra's bedroom was nice looking and well guarded, much like how a fancy hotel would operate.
"I don't know, Catelyn. Mom won't say anything about my song." Terra answered her servant's questioning.
As Terra undressed herself, and Catelyn got her bath ready, a question and a concern entered Terra's mind.
"Cat?"
"Yes, Princess?"
"Do you know if we have a foreign affairs ministry?"
"Foreign affairs? No, I don't think we have that on our planet. If we do have any, they are lost to history, or the concept is from a failed experiment." Catelyn answered, showing off her surprising intellect, which was one of the reasons as to why Terra had hired her, knowing that Catelyn could easily slip unnoticed by those who could be called enemies to the kingdom, thanks to her bastard status making her untouchable. Catelyn technically wasn't supposed to have her intelligence, but Terra went against the common custom of looking down bastards, and personally taught Catelyn both basic Low Mewnian literacy and mathematics.
Catelyn had grown up not far from Port Waterson, making her well versed in the arts of international diplomacy and trade, something that Terra valued in Catelyn during the hiring process. If there was anyone worthy of being a founder of a foreign affairs ministry, it was Catelyn Moth.
"Catelyn Moth, would you be comfortable with being the founder of the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs on the Butterfly Kingdom Royal Council?" Terra asked as she entered her bathtub, greatly enjoying her return to her life of royal luxury, but partially missed having some autonomy of her own. She wondered of many things during her bath, Catelyn worrying over her state of mind as the bath continued, unsure on how to answer her question.
A bastard on the Royal Council... Impossible to think about, but it sounded intriguing.
Notes:
In case you're not familiar with "A Song Of Ice And Fire", the last names of bastards usually stem from their locations of origin, so I figured that the natural thing would be to do the same for "Royalty and Rebellions" by having the surnames of bastards on Mewni work the same way. For the Butterfly Kingdom, bastards are given the surname of "Moth", since moths are normally seen as the opposite to butterflies.

Okay, I did the math just now, and I just realized that I have no idea how to measure a person's lifespan. I can assure you, the glaringly obvious bad math will be corrected in the biographies of each of my characters as time goes on.
For now, we have to suffer through my terrible math skills.
Chapter 26: Lunar Chess
Chapter Text
Kenny didn't know what to say to Her Majesty, Queen Star The Titan, but he didn't have to say anything, since right now, Lord Yoric Flowers - the current Foolduke and husband to Lord Sir Beric Flowers, the current Minister of Justice, meaning that they were the fathers of Poppy II and Tulip Flowers - was trying his best to keep the Royal Family and their guests entertained by singing the songs that had emerged not long after the Four Moons War, with the audience not being very amused.
Tulip Flowers was the spitting image of her big sister, save for her age, which was three years younger than Poppy.
Lord Sir Beric Flowers was a large man, with tan skin, gray eyes, and a bright pink head of hair, with a beard not unlike his father's, but was much longer and was styled into a braid, with little flowers decorating it, no doubt gifts from his daughters. He had gained the nickname of "The Immortal Flower", for it was sung that for every attempt at his life, Beric would simply rise back up to fight again, killing those who had tried to kill him.
Kenny questioned if that was true, but didn't, since magic wasn't something that followed rules.
Lord Yoric, the Foolduke, was dressed in what the previous Foolduke before him used to wear, as she was his mentor before she was killed, his skin was light, with hair that was a soft shade of lavender, with eyes of teal. He was playing a violin whilst singing his songs, ranging from songs such as "The Tears Of The Bleeding Titan" and "The Broken Hearted Bride" to songs such as "The Wolf Of Blood" and "The Emerald Miracle", songs no doubt referencing Kenny's parents and mother-in-law-to-be in some form.
Star dismissed Yoric as Foolduke, asking him to return to dinner before his food got cold, ringing the handbell in her dress pockets, this one not matching the description that Terra gave of a rose-gold bell, but rather, it was a bell of stainless steel.
Terra wasn't at dinner yet, which Star found odd, but considered the idea that Terra might've just been skipping dinner, but she wouldn't miss a meal when there were guests over.
When Terra, now earing her nightclothes, arrived to dinner, she seemed to have something on her mind, but the only question that Star had was as to why a servant girl was being allowed to sit next to Her Highness, without her mother's blessing to do so.
"Terra, darling, who is your servant girl, and why is she sitting at this table when we have guests over?" Star asked her daughter. She already knew that the girl was a servant because of her uniform, but didn't know her name, or why she was even in here sitting next to Terra.
The servant girl looked like she was nervous. Why wouldn't she be nervous? She was having dinner with her bosses and their guests. This was an irregular opening, and Terra was controlling the board with her little pawn of a servant girl, thinking herself as queen, but she was not queen just yet.
Not until she was married off to her groom on his 18th birthday. Just two more years of this engagement, and this punishment would be over with soon enough.
Catelyn was very nervous to be in the presence of Queen Star.
What was Her Highness thinking, asking her of all people on Mewni to be Minister of Foreign Affairs? To be the founder of such a position? She was a bastard child, not a lady of noble birth! She only had the job that she had because Her Highness thought of her as "deserving of a special seat" or something like that.
Was this what Her Highness had in mind for Catelyn; to be the founder of the Butterfly Kingdom's Ministry of Foreign Affairs?
Vilgax could tell that something was going on here, but he couldn't quite put his tentacle on what exactly that something was. Queen Butterfly heard nothing about the meeting that he had with her daughter, save for names and titles most likely.
Despite having telepathy, for many psionic lifeforms - Chimeras like Vilgax included - to read a mind without consent was viewed as highly indecent at best, and the equivalent to rape at worst, and since he didn't dare to wish to violate the guest rights that he had underneath the roof of Castle Butterfly, he refused to read the minds of his hostesses, fearful of Queen Butterfly's reaction, knowing what she was like when pissed off, if the stories and songs were to be believed.
Queen Butterfly wasn't referred to in the songs of his own peoples as "The Madwoman Of Molten Gold" for nothing.
Terra made her announcement to all in attendance, much to the surprise of everyone involved, save for King Lucitor.
Tom was unfazed, as he had been recently receiving calls and regular visits from Terra, her wanting to form a better bond with him, and him just happy to be allowed to be near her again since she was a little girl. Star wasn't really one for affection anymore. The bonds between Tom and Star had been growing thinner and thinner as their marriage went on, the only good thing left about it being Terra, but even their daughter couldn't fix the problems between them.
Had Star forgotten that she was married?
Did she just forget that Tom was even a person?
Terra's announcement was short and simple.
"Ladies and gentlemen and all honorable guests, may I have your attention please? Thank you. Now, what I'm about to say is what I believe is going to be of a great benefit to all of our realms involved. Miss Catelyn Moth here is going to become, by my decree, the founder of the Butterfly Kingdom's Ministry of Foreign Affairs once I ascend to the throne." Terra announced, later giving a toast of good fortune for Catelyn Moth, who Tom knew of as a "favorite" of his daughter's servants.
Tom and Kenny and their respective families, as well as the families of Azathoth and Anura, were the only ones who gave an applause that night, Tom proud of Terra's bold move. She was going to be a wonderful Queen Butterfly.
Star and the Royal Council didn't clap, as controversy quickly spun itself and spilled out of the goblets. Wait, what? Whatever, Tom was invested in hearing Terra's debating against Star regarding the importance of having a noble house in charge of Foreign Affairs.
The main problem was the fact that Catelyn was born a bastard, her mother a worker of the oldest profession, and her father an unknown person. The detail that Terra was playing favorites was not spoken out loud, but Tom knew better. Catelyn didn't have many options for how her life was to go, so being granted such a high position was a good thing that she now had going, but old habits died hard when it came to bastards, since they were the results of sinful behaviors, which included her mother's occupation. Catelyn had worked hard to gain the job that she had as Terra's Keeper Of The Private Chambers, so this would be no different than getting a promotion for her, maybe more. Tom knew better than to call this a promotion. This was a war between mother and daughter.
A game of thrones where you either lose or die.
Notes:
The title of this chapter will make more sense in Part 2 of this series, "The Assassination Of Star Butterfly", where the rules are going to be better explained.
Right now, Lunar Chess will be used metaphorically, with the actual game showing up later.
Chapter 27: The Locker Spell: Part 1 Of 3 - Helia
Chapter Text
The year is 396 a. M. and the Royal Magic Wand is in the hands, or more accurately, on the head of Helia Butterfly.
History will know her as "The Light Of Power" long after she has died, but for now, Helia is creating a new spell in her collection, which she has now named the Locker Spell.
1. Draw or cast the wheel according to the number of "keys" you will use.
2. Place the secret (or person or object that carries it) in the center.
3. Place each "key" in each slot. If it's not something physical, like a song or a spell, just recite it or mentalize it.
4. A lilac flame will be emerged from the centered object. Look inside the flame to see if that's what you want to hide and say "yes" or "no".
5a. If you want to hide the secret in the object itself, simply return the flame to it.
5b. If you want to hide it in another receptacle, move the flame to it.
6. Secret successfully locked!
How to unlock the secret?
Well... Unlock the keys and it's done.
Helia never knew just how impactful such a spell was going to be, as it was going to hide a secret that was going to alter history.
Chapter 28: The Locker Spell: Part 2 Of 3 - Luna
Chapter Text
The year is 572 a. M. and now, the Royal Magic Wand is in the hands Luna Butterfly.
History has already dubbed her as "The Child" not even before being dead from a broken heart.
Luna was running low on options, and had only two more years of holding her wand, which is now called "The Rose."
Oliver may have been saying that Luna's obsession of getting rid of her kinship with her mother was futile, but Luna was known to be willing to erase someone's memories via her "Mind Eraser Finger Pew" spell, so it was only natural for her to go further into her spiral.
Luna was in her mother's favorite part of Castle Butterfly, which was the Rose Tower, and was holding her mother's medallion, which held a pair of small paintings, depicting Queen Hekatia The Necromancer and her husband, King Edmund Cross, who were Luna's maternal grandparents, and Luna herself, back when she was seven, and her father, King Edric Flowers.
Accessing the Locker Spell, she placed the medallion into the center, and said "yes" into the lilac flame.
Luna smiled, satisfied with the fact that she has now just damaged history for centuries to come.
Her mother was now called "Queen Helena", who had never existed, and now, nobody was going to know that her mother was actually the Queen Of Darkness.
Eclipsa Butterfly was no longer her mother.
The only one who knows the truth is Sir Glossaryck Of Terms.
Chapter 29: The Locker Spell: Part 3 Of 3 - Terra
Chapter Text
The year is 870 a. M. and the Royal Magic Wand is now in the hands of Terra Butterfly.
Terra wonders into the Rose Tower with her fiance to have a private moment of affection and to generally explore Butterfly Castle, knowing that she's not supposed to be in there, by the orders of her mother.
Terra has begun to hate her mother, but doesn't have the heart to lock her away in the same way that Luna did.
"Whoa! Are we even supposed to be in here?" Kenny asked, confused and disturbed by the overgrown thorns and vines and roses, knowing from Terra telling him about Luna's actions regarding the Rose Tower, which was abandoning its usage and forbidding anybody to go inside.
Of course, since the Rose Tower was still part of Castle Butterfly, Terra was technically allowed to go in.
"Well, the Rose Tower is still part of my home, so I think it's safe for us to be here. We've been in here before, you know?" Terra replied, not knowing what her mother has done the day after her Lonely Star Ball.
"We've been in here before? I think I would remember that. I think I remember writing about a tower of roses in my diary once. I think I was nine or ten when I wrote it, but the page I wrote that entry on went missing. The entire diary went missing, actually, which is weird, since I had recently just bought it, and that entry was the only one that I wrote down."
"What was the date of the entry?"
"September 18th, 2038. Earth years. It's the only day of my life that I can't remember. It lines up with Razor Crane 5th, 863, if we're using Mewni years." Kenny explained, trying his best to recall the Lonely Star Ball from his memory.
Terra quickly began to ask him some rather strange sounding questions, to which he answered as honestly as he could, which gave her a disturbing thought in her mind.
Terra quickly decided to open up the Locker Spell, but unlike the previous users of the spell, Terra was going to remove every secret that had been placed within the center.
As she removed the secrets, ranging from forbidden spells, to a certain medallion that was quickly restoring history back to the way it should be, to the very thing that Terra had been looking for:
A diary belonging to one Kenneth Tennyson-Green, with an entry dated to September 18th, 2038.
Chapter 30: September 18th, 2038/Razor Crane 5th, 863
Notes:
Did you really think I forgot about Homecoming? I told you that the memory gap was going to be important, and now, here we are!
Chapter Text
September 18th, 2038
Since this is my first entry in this diary, I might as well start with today.
I have to go to something called a "Lonely Star Ball" because of some space queen inviting my family. We've just arriaved on some planet called "Mewni" or something in a different galaxy, which the locals call "Soupina", which is a wierd name for a galaxy, but I guess I shouldn't complain, since my own gaxlaxy is called Milky Way back on Earth, which is just as weird.
I guess strange minds think alike?
Razor Crane 5th, 863
Today is the day I get my Lonely Star Ball! Mommy's never been more happy to spend the day with me, but she says that Daddy Father King Lucitor isn't going to attend my dance, which makes me upset, but maybe dancing with my first choice will cheer me up!
I can't contain my excitement!
I don't understand anybody's words, both in speaking and in writting. They speak in some language called "Low Mewnian" for everyday stuff, but use something called "High Mewnian" for things like laws and medicine and religion related stuff.
Esspecially religion stuff. They believe in a Goddess called "Celeste" or something simular. She seems to be a huge deal, but what kind of religion wouldn't be a big deal? Uncle Blonko and Aunt Shar believe in Bralla-Da, and Aunt Looma believes in Zed, so why should I be surprised by an alien religion at all?
My first choice for a dance partner is a boy from a place called Earth. He has brown hair, green eyes, and skin like a desert. I don't know his name, but he is a really bad dancer. His skills need a lot of work.
He seems to be quite nice, despite his flaws.
A man and woman, who I think might be his parents, are talking about something with Mommy. I don't understand their words, but it sounds important.
She lead me to somewhere she called "The Rose Tower", where we could get a clearer view of the castle's gardens. It was hard to see, since the triple moonlight of this planet makes my eyes hurt.
I'm not used to being on planets with more than one moon, but I'll get used to it when I become a Plumber and start travelling, just like Mom and Dad do.
She soon asked me about my favorite types of roses, after she told me that she said that her favorite type of rose was one that didn't grow on Earth, known as an "eclipsed" rose, which only blooms at night on a triple full moons night and glows a bright white/silver color.
We couldn't find one of the eclipse roses, so I just told her that my favorite type of rose was just a common yellow rose.
Mommy's informed me that I am now engaged to the son of the famous Ben 10,000. His son's name is Kenneth Wesley Tennyson-Green.
My engagement is an arranged marriage. I don't know if my now fiance is aware of our engagement, but we'll probably learn to love each other. Are we even going to have a courtship? What will my new husband be like? Will he be happy to learn that he's going to be my King Consort?
Chapter 31: A Declaration Of Independence
Chapter Text
Terra burst into the Throne Room, furious at her mother for every last one of her notorious acts.
War crimes and a broken nation were one thing, but altering a person's mind was another.
The doors of the Throne Room were lit on fire as Terra marched towards her mother, who was clearly enraged. Her father was someone who the Princess knew wasn't going to stay for long, so Terra knew that she needed to make a stronger impact than she was planning it to be.
Terra marched onwards, with a look of rage and pain on her face.
Star quickly reached for the rose-gold handbell, sometimes referred to as the "Celestum Bell" by Terra, hidden in her dress pocket and began to ring it, attempting to halt Terra's march by making her go to the Great Butterfly Celestum as she often did in order to "discipline" her by making her think about her supposed "sinful" behaviors.
Star had never rung the Celestum Bell in front of guests and staff, as the looks of confusion and rage on the faces of her guests and Ministers' children and soon-to-be-son-in-law's family began to alarm her, especially the look she saw on her husband's face.
Terra froze up upon hearing the ringing of the Celestum Bell, as she always did when she heard it, but covered her ears and kept going until she reached her mother's seat, and promptly smacked the bell out of her hands, making the instrument fall to the ground with an atonal clank. The Princess soon grabbed the bell and burned it, slightly injuring her hand.
Afterwards, Terra proceeded to punch her mother in the face with a left hook, knocking out three of her teeth.
Star covered her mouth, groaning from the pain.
"Why did you just do that, young lady?" Star asked, both understanding where her daughter's rage was coming from, and disturbed by the fact that she was willing to harm her own blood.
"WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCKING ETERNAL OBLIVION IS WRONG WITH YOU, STAR?!!" Terra screamed out, her voice deepening the same way her father's voice would when greatly angered, and her eyes glowing a bright shade of blue that almost looked white. Her pupils and irises were already glowing red, almost to the point of being a very light shade of pink. Her hair was becoming bright white flames, with her normal indigo still at the roots. Her wings grew large enough to achieve flight, as was typical of mewberty. Flames were emitting from all six of her arms, the fire a bright green glow. Her bright pink skin became as black as coal. Her cheekmarks were glowing as blue as a blue supergiant star.
Everybody in Castle Butterfly, regardless of who they were and what they were doing, were immediately ordered by Her Royal Highness to evacuate the building, knowing that this shit was going to get ugly.
Star shifted into her own Butterfly Form in return, as a defensive reaction towards Terra, to remind her of Rule 8 of Etheria's Code, which stated that the Crown Princess must "always remember that [she is] still a subject of the Queen."
The rumors and words were spreading like wildfire as the castle staff began to run back to their homes, already informing their loved ones about what was now being called "The Battle of the Butterflies", no doubt referring to the conflict between Star and Terra, both metaphorically and literally speaking.
Chapter 32: The Battle Of The Butterflies
Chapter Text
The fight was over now, ending itself in the Grandma Room.
Mother and daughter holding swords and axes against each other's attacks, with Terra aiming Elentiya's spear end at Star's neck, almost wanting to strike.
Outside, the Slow Motion Spell was activated by Queen Butterfly in order to prevent any deaths of her peoples, giving the smallfolk in town a chance to escape the damages.
Now, mother and daughter were no longer such.
"Your Majesty..." Terra began, tired from fighting her queen. "I am well aware of Rule 8, but just because you are my queen... Divorce my father, and never return to Mewni as soon as I ascend to my place as Queen Butterfly following my marriage... From this day onwards, to your last day, you are no longer my mother... You've lost every right to be called such... Farewell, Queen Butterfly, for after today, I hereby renounce you as my mother."
Star was clearly crushed to hear her own child treat her like a bastard, but in all fairness, she should known better than to allow herself to love Marco, but she was young and foolish, and now, the hearts on her cheeks were broken and black.
They had been such ever since she had killed him with her own two hands.
Chapter 33: can't let go (even if I tried)
Notes:
More flashback stuff. Marco and Star stuff, how Marco died, etc.
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
Star looked at the old newspaper in her hands. It was one of thousands of documents that she had collected over the years following Mewni year 844, or Earth year 2016. How old was she back then? 14? 15, perhaps? Some dumbass space math wasn't important to her anymore.
All that was still important to Star now was fixing her mistakes, but it seemed she couldn't even do that right.
MEWNINEWS
Gravnogk 37th, 844
Hail the Queen?
The Princess, Star Butterfly, is crowned as punishment to mend all the mistakes made.
Star wanted to marry Marco, but upon looking at the next paper, she was sharply reminded as to why she didn't do that.
She had to kill him. It was a mercy to do such a thing. Marco could rest peacefully, knowing that his best friend was going to be okay.
Admirestar 15th, 849
"Sir" Marco Diaz executed following the Bloody Engagement
Yesterday, on the 14th of Admirestar, following the disturbing battle now known as the Bloody Engagement, Queen Star Butterfly announced that her second-in-command, best friend, and personal knight, the so-called "Sir" Marco Diaz, would be sentenced to hang from his neck in the Forest of Certain Death. The execution was not known by Diaz, or his loved ones (including his parents and sister, who are presumed deceased in the case of Rafael and Angela Diaz, and at large and/or missing in the case of Mariposa Diaz), and Diaz was hanged in the public view of various members of numerous "First Mewnian" tribes living in the region, the majority of whom, upon being interviewed, agreed that such an act was "disgusting" and "utterly damaging to her [Queen Butterfly's] and her nation's once glorious reputation" as well as generally seen as "an act of international cowardice" by all nations currently involved in Queen Star's War upon being informed through various forms of social media, raven letters, and other such forms of communication.
Star added another scar to her body. A tally mark, as she usually did. She counted the marking, her count now adding up to 10,000.
One tally mark for every single heart she had been responsible for breaking.
One tally mark for every life she had stolen.
One tally mark for every single last bit of love that had become lost.
Star wept once more, and in her privacy, she whispered secret prayers to Thea.
This was far from the first time she had done so.
"Goddess, how many times must I tell the Omniverse that I'm sorry? Is this Your punishment for being a rebel princess? If it is, please help me reverse this madness that I've started..." Star trialed off, stuck on what to say. "But You won't help me at all, will You? Is Terra part of Your punishment to me, or is she just a consequence of my sins? Or is Terra a blessing You've given me to fix my disaster of a world?"
Star stopped praying, and looked at the picture of Terra that was no longer there.
Terra's imagery had been removed from Castle Butterfly by raiders and looters and thieves and even clergy and servants. Members of the Noble Houses, such as Lady Dame Willow Forest, Lord Sir Rhysand Cross, Lady Dame Lake Waterson, and Lord Albedo Firefly were even willing to steal from their own queen.
The rest of the images of Terra were taken away from Castle Butterfly by Tom and his side of the family, not long after Tom told her that he was wanting a divorce.
What Tom had announced, and what followed afterwards, marked the very first time that a Queen Butterfly had ever been divorced by her King and vice versa.
Star walked from the Royal Bedchamber to Terra's bedroom, or what was left of it, and sat down on her daughter's bed.
To think, it used to be her bedroom, so, so, so long ago.
Star began to return to her weeping, not caring that there was nobody left to care about her.
Nobody was left in the Omniverse to love her.
"Seles, if You can tell them from wherever You are right now as Empress-Chanted-From-Sky is looking for You, please make sure to tell Terra that I'm sorry for every burden that she's going to inherit from me, and protect her and her husband's family, friends, and world from Your future disasters and punishments. In Your name, I pray for their protection. Amen." Star prayed one last time for the night before drifting off to sleep.
She did not dream.
Notes:
The Bloody Engagement is referring to Ben and Kai's engagement party. As you can tell by the name, you can take a guess on what happened during that.
As for the Noble Heads, Lady Dame Lake Waterson is named after Lake from "Infinity Train", Lord Sir Rhysand Cross is named after High Lord Rhysand Archeron from "A Court Of Thorns And Roses", and Lady Dame Willow Forest is named after Willow Park from "The Owl House", in case you're wondering about who they're named for.
As for Lord Albedo Firefly, well, I'm saving that name for a later chapter.
Chapter 34: Surprises And Guilt
Chapter Text
Terra had returned to Earth following the Battle Of The Butterflies, claiming to both love and hate her birthday from now on. Since Star was the one who cast the Slow Motion Spell during the fight, Terra was unaffected by the white hair side effect, unlike her mother's hair, which changed from its signature golden blonde locks to a much more platinum gray color.
Right now, Terra was resting in her room, listening in on her family's conversations.
Devlin clearly failing at flirting with Catelyn, with Catelyn actually being the one trying to make the first move, even though neither of them knew each other very well, since Cat had only been on Earth for about two weeks after Terra's Song Day. The rest of her friends had been told to return to Mewni, mainly because of the fact that they disobeyed their parents who had no idea that they had left and grown up fear kicked in as soon as they were told that their children were on Earth.
Kevin, Ben, Kai, Gwendolyn, Argit, and Janna trying to summon a demon and ending up summoning King Lucitor in order to chat with him about the "demonic soul binding" part of the Mewni And Earth Agreement, finding out that the contract was nothing more than an ordinary peace treaty that was enchanted to be unbreakable in the literal sense, rather than in the magical sense. Being a half-demon, it wasn't a surprise for her father to be something of a trickster, most likely as a coping-with-war-trauma kind of thing. Kai was beyond pleased to hear that the "soul binding" thing was never real.
The discovery of a second child in the Tennyson-Green branch of their family was definitely a surprise for the ages, considering Kai's medical issues with her eggs, which made Terra upset to hear, but was reassured by Kai when she said that PCOS wasn't unusual among Humans who had ovaries.
This discovery quickly took care of the question regarding how Ben was going to pass down the Omnitrix, as the general agreement was that the watch would be given to his second-born, while Kenny would still be married off to Terra as her king-consort.
Kenny was happy that the Omnitrix was going to (hopefully) be in good hands, and was excited about being an older brother for his unborn sibling, but it was very clear to Terra that, for all her fiance's smiles and laughter, he was deeply upset by the fact that she had essentially ruined his life just by merely existing.
Chapter 35: Family Planning
Notes:
(See the end of the chapter for notes.)
Chapter Text
As Kai's pregnancy advanced, it was clear that Kenny's attitude towards his unborn sibling was growing a bit more tilted, for a lack of a better word.
He would avoid the baby's room as much as possible, despite having helped out his father in getting it ready.
He wouldn't take part in choosing names for him or her, despite having written down names of his own choosing and showing them to Catelyn, but since she couldn't speak or read English, Spanish, or Navajo, there wasn't much of a conversation to have with her.
He would even try his best to avoid his mother, but those attempts naturally failed, for obvious reasons.
It was so obvious to Terra that he was clearly avoiding the topic of his sibling, so in response, and as a little callback to what he had done for her regarding her relationship with her mother, Terra decided to help her fiance open up about his insecurities about becoming an older brother.
"Okay, talk to me." Terra prompted from her fiance, much to his confusion. Unlike what Kenny had done for Terra, this conversation regarding their families was a private discussion, not ready for the Omniverse to know of.
"About what?"
"About why you've been trying to avoid your sibling?"
Kenny tensed up, partially regretting being so close to her, but was partially glad that he was being obvious about how he felt. They even had something of an inside joke between them, which was something along the lines of "4/5 hearts in Romanticism, 5/5 hearts in Companionship, and 5/5 hearts in Sensuality" or something like that.
"Fine, I've been kind of... Upset about my sibling inheriting the Omnitrix. I mean, do you know what it feels like to learn that something that was always supposed to be yours is suddenly going to be given to someone else?"
"So, like Dirhhennia The Heaped, then? Is that how you feel about your soon-to-be brother or sister?"
"Pretty much."
Notes:
To anybody who has a large age gap between you and your siblings, y'all know how this goes. I know from experience, since me and my oldest brother have a 14 year age gap between us, so a 16 year age gap between Kenny and his sibling is not unrealistic for siblings.
Also, yes, I did reference Terra and Kenny's Love Rating Card from my DeviantArt with the "inside joke" part.
Chapter 36: Jupiter
Chapter Text
Hearing his mother screaming in pain and getting his hand crushed into pieces was definitely something to experience and talk about. Once it was over, the doctors handed over his newborn sibling to Kai, who quickly scooped him or her up in her arms. Kenny didn't want to look at his sibling, wanting his parents to take in the little bundle of joy. He briefly saw tears in his father's eyes while he was holding the newborn Tennyson-Green. Kenny smiled upon seeing that small moment between his father and his sibling.
Then, it was his turn to hold the baby, much to his surprise. He was told to be gentle with their head and neck. Almost instinctively, he placed his sibling's weight onto his left side, allowing for his brother to hear his heartbeat. He had a little brother now, going off of his appearance. His brother who shared their father's skin tone, but their mother's eyes and hair.
Kenny, in spite of himself, couldn't find himself to be able to be upset at his brother.
"Looks like someone's trying to say hello to his big brother..." Kai said with tiredness in her voice, though to be fair to her, she did just spend the past nine hours pushing her second-born son out of her body, and thus, fell asleep while the doctors and such watched over her to keep her safe.
It was now Terra's turn to hold her new brother-in-law-to-be in her arms. Since his parents and brother hadn't given him a name, they allowed for Terra to do so instead, as a way to better connect to her new family. Terra looked down at the infant boy, and then looked out the window for the sky above her to grant her inspiration.
Her inspiration came to her when she saw the wandering stars, which she now understood as the other planets of the Sol System, aligning themselves almost perfectly in the late dusk above her, with the planet that caught her eyes the most being Jupiter as it glowed.
She didn't expect, let alone think about, herself dipping down, nor did she understand the wheel below her feet, which seemed to be Galaxia's Wheel. As soon as the baby's hands began to grab onto Terra's right index, his eyes began to glow a bright pink color, but only in his irises. The glowing only ceased once Terra's dipping down abruptly stopped on its own just ten minutes later.
"Jupiter..." Terra whispered. "His name is Jupiter..."
Chapter 37: Watching From The Sky
Chapter Text
Wren Redbird was busying herself with her falconry, utilizing her personal favorite Nightmare Falcon - a species of falcon native to Mewni that were not unlike bats in terms of behavior, save for being diurnal, as would be expected for most falcons - by the name of Erma, who was the typical coloration for her species, with her soot black and steel grey wings, her blood red beak and talons, along with her purely midnight blue eyes.
Despite Wren's love for the art, why was she wasting her time with falconry?
Wren knew that she had a duty to her queen, but the queen in question was not the Titan. Wren's queen was Terra through and through. She had no doubts about that.
It was going to be a lot to work on, regarding the Butterfly Kingdom's problems, but while Poppy was more concerned about crime, Wren was more worried about a cult that worshipped Mina Loveberry, who was seen by this cult as a saint and empress, much to the discomfort of Wren's mother, Cardinal, and her father, Vulture, whenever they encountered and detained any of the members of the so-called "Order of Saint Mina", who Wren clearly understood as domestic terrorists trying to enact a civil war and steal the Throne that was rightfully Terra's to inherit.
The Butterfly Kingdom Police Force wasn't going to be useful in domestic terrorism related threats. Wren knew that much, going off what Kenny had told her about Earth nations and how they kept themselves safe from the dangers within their borders, which was very little, for reasons Kenny wasn't allowed to discuss, either because of taboos or some other reason.
She needed to do something about the Order of Saint Mina, but didn't know what to do.
