Chapter 1: My World
Chapter Text
- STEVE POV -
I pop into my new world. The warm, bright sun held in the sky feels nice on my skin. New worlds always have such a refreshing feel to them. I begin to look around, scanning my surrounding environment for any resources. I appear to have spawned in a plains biome with a plethora of different flowers, all of different colors, around me. In the distance, I believe I can see a birch forest. After looking around a bit more, I begin to walk towards the birch forest, green grass crunching rhythmically beneath my feet with every step.
As I reach the tree line, I begin to strike one repeatedly. I break one of it's logs, leaving the tree floating in the air. I continue punching the different logs until I've destroyed all of the tree. I collect all of the birch logs that are on the ground and make myself a workbench. I place the workbench down on the ground and use it to make a wooden axe so I can gather wood more efficiently. I begin to chop down a few more trees with my newly crafted tool.
With the new wood I've obtained, I make myself a wooden pickaxe and wander around looking for a cave so I can gather more materials. After quite a bit of walking, I find the opening of one. Before entering, I mine eight stone around the entrance for a furnace. After picking up all of the stone I mined, I head into the cave, looking for coal. Without going in too far I find some. I grip my pickaxe and take some swings at the ores. In the middle of mining the coal, I hear an oh-so familiar rattle of bones. I pick up the coal on the ground hastily and book it out of the cave. I leave with the stone and the few pieces of coal I managed to pick up in my inventory.
After getting out and away from the cave, I notice how hungry I am. I do some more exploring, killing random animals every now and then for food along the way. Once I notice the sun beginning to set, I craft myself a bed with some of the wool I collected from random sheep and make a furnace with the stone gathered from the cave. I put some of the meat I obtained while exploring into the furnace, along with the coal I mined from the cave. I craft a chest while waiting for a piece of meat to cook. After I finish eating some food, I place the chest down and set all my items inside. I look around, double checking there's no mobs in the vicinity, and place my bed on the ground. I get under the cozy covers and close my eyes, falling asleep.
When I wake up, I'm greeted with an odd feeling, as if something isn't right. I sit up from my warm, comfy bed and look around myself. When I look to my right, I see a very strange looking portal. I slowly get out of bed and cautiously walk towards the portal. As I get closer to it, I realize that it's shaped like a nether portal, except, it isn't made of obsidian. I get a bit closer to look at what it's made of. The blocks are a deep red and look like they're made of meat, or something of the likes. As I stare at the blocks, I notice that they appear as if they're alive... and breathing.
I decide that it is definitely time to get away from this suspicious portal thing. I start to back up without turning my back to it. As I get further away I notice the sky turning black. I stop moving and stare at the once blue sky in disbelief. How could it be night already, I just woke up a few minutes ago? Suddenly, I feel something wrap around both my ankles. I quickly look down and see red, sickly tentacles emerging from the strange meat blocks the portal is made of.
I hit the tentacles with my fist, trying to get them to let go of me, but to no avail. The tentacles begin to drag me towards the portal, causing me to topple over onto the ground. I try my hardest to hold onto something but the force of the tentacles pulling me are too strong. Eventually, they get me within a block of the portal. I give up as the tentacles drag my body into the portal and I pass out from terror.
When I wake up, I'm laying on my back. As I open my eyes I'm greeted with an orangey-pink sky and what I believe to be a weird looking tree. I stare at it for a bit and wonder why it looks like so weird. It isn't square, it has different shapes in it. I sit up and I'm immediately startled by my surroundings. I'm not in my familiar blocky world, no, for this place has lots of things that aren't blocks. I stand up, tripping over myself slightly before catching my balance, and begin to look around. Everything here looks like my world, just less blocky and square. I think I'm in some sort of forest. I walk up to one of the odd looking trees and inspect it. Instead of the logs being square, they're round. I start to punch it, and after awhile, realize nothing is happening.
I try hitting another tree, but it won't break. I panic after remembering that I put all my materials in my chest back home. I frantically run around looking for the portal that brought me here, or anything I can use to get resources, but I can't find anything. I run around more, even more panicked than before, and start screaming and crying. I collapse onto the ground and curl up into a ball as I notice the sky getting darker. I try to think of any way to hide from the mobs at night but I can't think of anything. I lay on the ground in a ball, sobbing loudly.
Chapter 2: The Swamp
Chapter Text
- SHREK POV -
I sit up in bed, Fiona laying sound asleep next to me. I look out the window and notice that that the sun is hardly up. I get out of bed as quietly as possible and get dressed. I decide that I want to go for a walk while everyone's still asleep. I creep out of the house, trying my best not to wake Fiona or any of the triplets. After successfully leaving the house, I begin to walk into the forest surrounding my swamp.
I've always found the forest very relaxing. There's no distracting noises in here, just the birds and other calming nature sounds. One of my favorite spots in the forest is this little clearing I found while exploring a few years back. I walk towards the clearing and see something strange. I walk closer and notice that it's kind of a person; it's very square and blocky though. Compared to me, this "person" is a bit small. I crouch down and inspect the tiny man. I tap the shoulder of this person and they shoot up. Once they see me, they shriek and scoot away from me and near the border of where open space turns into forested area.
"No, no, it's okay, I'm not that scary," I quickly say, attempting to calm the person down. "Okay, maybe I'm a little scary..." I joke. The person stares at me with wide eyes as I question him, "Can you like not talk or something? Do you just stare? Staring isn't very polite you know." I laugh, continuing to joke around.
"Y-yes. I can t-talk," the person stammers out after a few seconds of silence.
"Okay, well, what's your name?" I ask, moving a bit closer to the frightened person. A few seconds pass before the person replies with a stutter, "St-Steve."
"Okay. St-Steve," I laugh, poking fun at his stutter "Why are you so blocky?" I ask him.
"Well why are you so green?" He shoots back at me snarkily. Nobody says anything for a few seconds.
"Um- I'm-I'm lost, could you maybe help me find a p-place to stay or something?" Steve asks me nervously. I can tell that he's still scared from the hints of fear lacing his words.
"Yeah, follow me," I assure him in the most comforting voice I can muster. I stand up, offering a hand out to Steve, and we begin walking back to my hut, Steve following close behind me.
When we arrive at my hut, Fiona is already up and taking care of the kids: Farkle, Fergus, and Felicia. She looks very groggy, seeing as her movements are a bit slower than usual.
"Honey, I found this guy in the forest. His name is Steve," I declared, gesturing towards Steve who still looks a bit scared.
"Hi," Fiona responds with a small delay. I can tell she's basically half asleep.
"Steve, this is my wife, Fiona," I gesture over to her. "And these are my kids: Fergus, Felicia, and Farkle." I smile, motioning towards each of them as I say their names. "Oh- and I almost forgot," pausing to face Steve. "I'm Shrek," I bubble, finally introducing myself.
Steve looks pretty overwhelmed with everything. I guide him over to an extra room within my hut. I go back to the main room and sit on a log thinking about how I could help calm Steve down. He's obviously scared and overwhelmed with everything. While I ponder, my mind begins to wander, he's kind of cute when he's scared... I think as I picture the moment I woke him up. Wait, no- that's weird. He's a guy, and I'm a guy. I literally have a wife! I snap away from this train of thought and decide to go outside to finish my walk that had been interrupted by Steve.
As I walk, my mind somehow keeps going back to him. I think about his cute, little face. I blush a bit as I picture him in my mind. Wait, I think to myself. I'm straight. There's no way I'm not! I've never been interested in a man before. I begin to ponder about whether I'm completely straight or not. No, I'm definitely straight. I could never imagine being with another man; that's- that's just weird! He's just attractive, that's all. I'm not into him or anything. I decide to just head back home, being out here makes me think too much.
I arrive back at my hut, and immediately notice that Fiona is showing Steve around and introducing him to the kids. He seems a bit more comfortable now, now that he's been here for a bit. He turns his head towards me and we make eye contact. I quickly break the mutual gaze by veering mine towards ground, hiding my blushing face.
"Oh hey honey! I was just showing Steve around," Fiona chimes to me. "Maybe you could help him get his room together? That bed that we have in there still needs to be put together. I tried but that damn thing is nearly impossible to put together."
"Yeah, it's from IKEA, you need to be a fucking engineer to put their furniture together," I drawl to her as I head down the hallway to Steve's new room. I can try to put the damned bed together but I'm not sure how far I'll get.
I enter Steve's room, and with a huff, begin attempting to put the bed together. It probably takes me a good hour to just figure out how the instructions work; then presumably another thirty or forty minutes to actually construct the bed. Finally, after a long wait, the bed is finished. I drop a mattress down onto the frame, followed by a pillow and a blanket. I call down the hall to Steve.
"Steve, your bed is done!" I shout, waiting for him to come into the room. When he sees the finished bed, he seems excited.
"Does it look okay?" I ask, waiting for his validation.
"Yeah," he approves while climbing onto it. "It's perfect, thanks Shrek!"
I blush a bit from his response and exit the room, telling Fiona that the bed is put together. I go back to our room and lay down. I'm pretty tired and it's only noon; I think I'm gonna take a nap. I close my eyes and fall asleep pretty quickly.
Chapter 3: Lovely Night
Chapter Text
- STEVE POV -
I think it's around noon. I sit on my new bed that Shrek built for me; it's pretty comfy. I lay down on my back and stare up at the ceiling of my room, basically talking to myself in my head, this is so weird. How often do people get dragged into a portal by tentacles?
I roll onto my side, eyes half closed, and see a figure in the doorway of my room. I jump a little and my eyes focus on the once blurry figure. I realize that it's Shrek's wife, Fiona, standing in the doorway. "O-oh hi," I murmur as I sit up on the edge of my bed, a little startled.
"Hey, are you doing ok?" She asks how a mother would to her child.
"Uh yeah, I'm just so confused with everything right now," I tell her as I exhale a sigh.
"Aww, what happened?" Fiona asks me, entering the room room and taking a seat next to me on my new bed.
"Oh it's just- you don't- ugh-" I stutter out. "Jesus Christ why can't I talk normally..."
"It's okay, what happened?" She asks me again, in an oddly comforting voice.
"I just- I don't know why I'm here. I got sucked through a portal into what seems like a whole different fucking universe," I explain to her.
"Wait what," she asks in confusion.
"Yeah I know, pretty damn confusing," I huff, sighing. I lay back down on my bed with Fiona still sitting on the side of it. Fiona and I both looks towards the doorway as we hear the beginnings of a baby wailing.
"Oh sorry- I have to go take care of that," she acknowledges while rushing out of the room.
I get up out of my bed and head down the hall towards the room holding Fiona and the crying child. I pass the door and leave their hut, heading outside. I wander into the forest looking for something to do. Suddenly, I hear a strange noise that sounds like growling. My heart starts to beat faster than usual and my breathing becomes heavier. A strange, gray creature with what looks like wings swiftly runs past me, making me stumble backwards slightly. Suddenly, six more of those same creatures dart past me, making me stumble back even more.
I stand frozen in shock until one of them trots up to me. It resembles a donkey with red horns and wings; it cocks its head at me. I see a donkey trot up behind the tiny creature. The donkey seems a bit surprised when it sees me, as it's head also cocks to the side.
"Oh hey! Who are you?" The donkey asks me.
I stare at it." The donkey just talked to me. Donkeys don't talk. I think I'm going insane," I mutter quietly to myself.
"Well, you gonna answer me?" The donkey questions me.
"U-uh w-well I'm Sh-Shrek's f-fr-friend," I stammer out in a bout of confusion.
"Ooooh, so you're Shrek's buddy? Cool, so am I! My names Donkey! What's yours?" He chimes with an unusual amount of energy.
"Um- my name's Steve," I respond, still surprised that I'm talking to a fucking donkey.
"Well that's cool. Hey do me a favor would ya, tell Shrek I say hi when you next see him," he says before running off the same way the tiny creatures ran, presumably to catch up with them.
"I'm going back to Shrek's," I blankly state out loud. I turn around and walk straight back to his shack still in shock. Why is this world so weird? Once I see the hut, I walk into it and head directly to my room, closing the door behind me. I flop onto my bed and let out a sigh, "What. The. Actual. Fuck." I close my eyes and try to sleep. "This is too abnormal for me to handle," I announce to myself before beginning to drift off.
- SHREK POV -
I open my eyes and sit up; Fiona is next to me, asleep. I look over to the window and notice that the moon has already been hoisted into the quiet night sky. I quietly get out of bed and walk out into the living room. I get myself a glass of water and sit down, sipping on the drink. I glance over to the hallway that leads to Steve's room. Without thinking I get up and move down it. I stop in front of his closed door and knock softly, no response. I push open the door slowly and poke my head into his room. He's sleeping on his bed. Why does he look so cute while he's sleeping? I query to myself.
I close his door quietly and walk back to my room. I get back into bed with Fiona and lay motionless, staring at a wall. Why can I only think about Steve, I question. It's probably just because he's a new friend, and maybe because he's living here now. I sigh and roll onto my back. I'm not gonna be able to fall asleep, I admit to myself in my head.
I get back up and out of bed once again and stroll into the living room, taking a seat on the log I had been sitting on. I sigh and stare at a wall which was softly illuminated by moonlight. I hear a faint yawn from behind me and spin around on the log. I see Steve stumbling down the hallway rubbing his eyes. "Oh- St-Steve, hey," I stammer excitedly, blushing slightly. Steve replies by waving back at me sleepily. "How did you sleep?" I ask him.
"Fine," he says, still sounding tired. He plops down onto the log seat next to me.
"U-uhm- so um-" I stutter awkwardly, trying to form a sentence.
"And you made fun of me for stuttering," Steve chuckles.
I laugh awkwardly at his joke. "So uh- how did you get lost in the forest?" I ask him sheepishly.
"Ughhh, okay so, it's so weird. I had just woken up and I felt really weird for some reason. So naturally, I looked around and saw this portal thing. And get this, it dragged me through it!" Steve explains, "And then I woke up in this place. It's so different from my world..."
"Woah that's weird," I mutter, not fully understanding what Steve just told me.
"Yeah I know; my world is just squares. And this place," Steve pauses. "This place just looks so weird to me."
I stare at him, blankly. I can feel myself starting to blush, so I avert my gaze from him and try to think of something to say, but I can't come up with anything. We sit in an awkward silence and my palms start sweating a little. I nervously laugh and say, "Sure is nice out tonight, hm?"
"Yeah, there's no mobs thankfully," Steve quietly laughs.
"Huh?" I state, shooting him a puzzled look.
"I have so much to tell you about my world," Steve says. He starts to explain how his world works and before we know it, the sun is coming up, brightening up the room.
Chapter 4: Confession
Chapter Text
- STEVE POV -
As I finish summing up my world to Shrek, Fiona strolls out of her room tiredly. "Oh hey Fiona!" I holler over to her while waving. She replies by sleepily waving back to me.
"Well, you two are sure up early," Fiona says to Shrek and me with tones of grogginess in her voice.
"Hahah, yeah," Shrek laughs. "Steve was telling me about his world, it's so weir-"
I cut Shrek off. "No, this world is weird!" Fiona chuckles at us and moves to get herself a cup of water.
"Oh, Fiona," Shrek chimes in, grabbing a glass of water off the table and holding it towards Fiona. "Take this, I hardly even drank from it."
"Oh Shrek," I chime in suddenly, turning towards him. "Donkey wanted me to say hi for him!"
"Oh, you met Donkey? He's fucking crazy," Shrek says as he turns to face me again. "His kids are even crazier."
"Oh, is that what those things were?" I ask him.
"Yeah, they're part donkey and part dragon. Kind of weird if you ask me. Just imagine how they were made..." He trails off.
"He had kids with a dragon?" I smirk and continue, "How does that even work?"
"I have no idea," Shrek responds. "Anyway, I think I'm gonna go for a walk. You can tag along if you want," He mentions to me.
"Oh, yeah sure!" I exclaim excitedly.
- SHREK POV -
"Oh- my- god- he said yes," I celebrate in my head while blushing slightly. "Okay well- I'm gonna go get my shoes on," I say to Steve while walking to my room. I enter my room and close the door behind me. "OH MY GOD," I whisper scream to myself. "Phew- okay, Shrek- you got this," I quietly say to myself as I put my shoes on and walk out of my room. "Okay, let's go!" I announce, and head outside with Steve.
"Okay Steve, do you have anywhere you wanna go, or shall I lead the way?" I ask him, smiling.
"I don't really care, I guess you can lead," he replies while glancing around.
"Okay!" I lead Steve into the forest. I take him to a small pond with shrubbery generously guarding the edges of the water, like knights surrounding a castle concealing a royal family. "This is a pond I found not too long ago while wandering around in here," I inform Steve. He looks at the pond and sits down near the edge, in between two bushes.
"This is a nice place," Steve drawls while looking around.
"Yeah I know," I agree while taking a seat on the ground next to him. I have to move a bush slightly out of the way to make room for myself.
I look around and eventually, my gaze lands on Steve as he's looking around. He eventually notices me staring at him and turns to look at me, making eye contact with me. I divert my eyes away from his gaze as my face starts to turn red. "So uh- how are you feeling about this world so far?" I nervously ask Steve while staring straight ahead at the water.
"It's okay; it's just a little weird you know," Steve sighs. "Being dragged through a meat portal sure isn't something that happens every day," he chuckles with the last few words.
"Yeah..." I reply softly, "So uh Steve..." I begin to say to him.
"Hm?" He answers, turning to look at me.
"Have you ever been in love with someone?" I coyly ask him while fixating my eyes on the ground, hiding my blushing face.
"Uhm- I have this ex. I thought I was in love with her but I guess not. Her name's Alex," he responds with a depressed tone tainting his voice.
"O-oh- s-so are you straight?" I guiltily ask him, stuttering like crazy.
"I think so. Why?" He asks.
"Oh- um- just curious," I respond, looking out into the forest in front of me. I begin to feel a bit sad, but I'm not sure why. I awkwardly sit next to him without saying anything. Some time passes by and the sun eventually starts to set.
"I think it's time we head back," I suggest to Steve while slowly standing up.
"Yeah, we probably should," he says while also standing up and dusting himself off.
We head back through the forest to my home. When we arrive, Fiona's already cooking dinner. I walk in, followed by Steve. "Hey honey, whatcha making?" I ask her.
"Oh just some soup for us," she replies without turning around.
"Oh okay, well it sure smells good!" I say to her. "Alright Steve I'm gonna go chill in my room," I tell him as I walk towards my room. Once I get to my room, I sit on my bed and begin thinking.
Do I like Steve? I ask myself. I don't know, I thought I was straight. I can't tell if I'm just excited to have a new friend or if it's something else, my thinking pauses. "Maybe I do like him a little," I say out loud to myself. However, my alone time is interrupted suddenly as I hear Fiona yell for me to come eat. I leave my room and go out to eat dinner.
Steve and Fiona are already sitting at the table with their soup. There's and open chair with a bowl of soup in front of it that I sit down in. I start to eat the soup.
"So, Steve.. how's the food?" Fiona asks.
"Awesome!" Steve replies in between gulps of soup.
Fiona laughs, "Slow down there! You don't wanna eat too fast!"
After we finish eating, Fiona cleans up the table and heads into our room, leaving Steve and me at the dinner table... alone...
After I hear the door to our room close, I silently sit at the table and glance over at Steve. Now's my chance, I announce in my mind. I silently stand up and move seats; I sit down next to Steve. My heart starts to bear faster and I'm already beginning to sweat. Steve looks up at me and our eyes meet. My heart skips a beat and I smile nervously at him.
"What?" Steve asks while staring at me, obviously confused as to why I switched seats all of a sudden.
My heart is properly pounding now and my face is probably red as a tomato. I nervously gulp and feel my palms starting to get sweatier by the second.
"Do you just stare? Staring is kind of rude, you know," Steve mimics me while chuckling. I nervously laugh along with him, my voice trembling slightly as I laugh.
"Um St-Steve," I pause and look down at the table, feeling my heart jumping into my throat, and a few sweat droplets forming around my temples. "I-I have s-something I need t-to tell you..."
Chapter 5: Falling
Chapter Text
- FIONA POV -
My eyes flutter open to the sound of distant chatter. I recognize the voice to be Shrek. "Ugh, why is he still up," I mutter to myself as I stand up. I walk towards the bedroom door, ready to drag Shrek by his gross little ears into bed until I hear what's being said beyond the door. I stop next to it and listen; I can hear Shrek's voice pretty clearly.
"Basically what I'm just trying to say is-" he pauses. "I-" There's an audible sigh. "I think that I have a crush on you, Steve."
I step away from the door in shock. My husband just said he has a crush on Steve. My eyes begin to tear up as I come to the realization that my one true love, loves someone else. I sit back on our bed, burying my face in my hands, and I begin to cry.
- STEVE POV -
"W-what?!" I practically shout at Shrek with a red face. "You've only known me for one day! And don't you have a wife?!"
Shrek hushes me., "Yeah- now shush! You're gonna wake her up if you keep talking that loud!" He looks towards his bedroom then back to me. "Yes, I know that I've only known you for a day, but I believe that I have feelings for you," he tells me.
"Well- I-I don't- I just- I'll-I'll think about this later, right now I need sleep," I stutter out as I stand up and start walking down the hallway towards my room. I look over my shoulder and see Shrek still sitting at the table, just staring at the ground. I walk into my room and sit on my bed, letting out a quiet sigh.
- SHREK POV -
I look up and see that Steve has already gone back to his room. I feel overwhelmed with emotions as I stand up and begin shuffling towards my room. My throat clamps shut and I feel tears welling up in my eyes. I stop in front of the door and look back to the hallway that leads to Steve's room. Just looking in that direction fills me with even more regret and sadness. I look away and enter my room. I frown slightly as I see Fiona laying in our bed, motionless. I get into bed with her and close my eyes.
- STEVE POV -
Once I hear Shrek's door close, I let out a large sigh. I begin to think about what Shrek told me. "How could he feel that way after one day..." I mutter to myself. "I mean- he is kind of hot," I admit as I picture the handsome man in my mind. I immediately snap out of this thought when I hear a wail coming from the triplets' room. "He has a wife and kids, how could he actually feel that way," I ask myself quietly, burying my face in my hands.
I hear shuffling in the hallway then the door to the triplets' room open. The crying stops after a few moments. I roll over onto my back and stare up at the dark ceiling. "Maybe I should sleep," I tell myself. I roll over onto my side and close my eyes. After laying there for a bit, I open my eyes and give up on trying to sleep.
I sit up in the middle of my bed, propping my back against the wall. I let out a sigh and get out of bed. I open my door slowly and stick my head out into the hallway. I don't see anyone and open the door more. I creep out into the living room. I get myself a cup of water and sit down, sipping on the water. I turn to look at Shrek's room and start thinking about what he said again.
- SHREK POV -
I wake up and look out my window; the sun is barely up. I quietly get out of bed, being careful not to wake Fiona. I walk out of my room to go get some food but I see Steve sitting at the table with his back to me. I back up as quietly as possible but I accidentally bump into a corner. Steve turns his head towards the sound and sees me.
"Uh- I was just getting some food," I say awkwardly and walk towards the kitchen with my head down. I hear Steve get up and walk to his room. I look up once I hear his door close and hear a voice in my head, telling me that I fucked everything up.
"I probably did..." I mutter to myself, shedding a tear. I turn around and go back to my room without even getting food. I get back in bed and force myself to sleep.
- STEVE POV -
"Fuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuck," I mutter repeatedly while pacing around my room. "Why did I just leave?! Who does that?" I scold myself aloud. I start thinking about how Shrek probably feels. I blush as I picture him in my mind. His luscious, green skin and his special body type... "So hot," I whisper, grinning like and idiot.
I walk over to my door and reach for the handle. My hand stops before making contact with the handle, "I should check if he's out there." I open the door slightly and poke my head through the opening to see if Shrek is out of his room still. Thankfully, I don't see him. I quietly walk out of my room and down the hall, being careful not to make a noise. I walk over to the front door of the hut and look over my shoulder.
I turn back to the door and take a deep breath. I reach for the handle and slowly open the door. I look back once more and then walk out, closing the door behind me, I need to go somewhere I can think properly. I see the sun coming up. I start walking, knowing that Shrek will most likely get back up soon. I don't want him to know where I'm going and follow me. I need to be alone. I reach the tree line of the forest and stop. I sigh, and walk into the forest without looking back.
- SHREK POV -
I'm awoken by Fiona shaking me. She's saying something. I blink a few times trying to wake up my brain and sit up slowly. "What do you want?" I ask groggily.
"Steve isn't here!" She whisper yells at me.
I shoot up out of bed and jog to Steve's room, only to see that he's not there. I check everywhere in the house, but he's nowhere to be seen, "Shit."
Chapter 6: Separation
Chapter Text
- SHREK POV -
"Fiona!" I yell out while getting my shoes on quickly. "I'm going out into the forest to look for Steve!" I go to head out the door but pause. I turn around and grab a knife, tucking it in my pocket, just incase. I rush out of my home now. "Steve!" I call out into the forest, "Steve, if you can hear me please, please say something back!"
After a few seconds of silence, I start to speed walk into the forest. I check all of my surroundings as I walk through the forest, trying to find anything that could lead me to Steve's whereabouts.
I search what seems like every inch of the forest and notice the sun beginning to set. My eyes start to tear up at the thought of Steve being out here all alone during the night, but suddenly I hear a weird sound. It sounds like a weird, slow, whooshing sound.
I inhale deeply and begin cautiously walking towards the odd sound, all while scanning the environment around me. I begin to see what's making the sound through the trees as I get closer. It looks like a portal to a different dimension. I stop walking and gaze up at the portal; it's just a rectangle with a red, meat looking border. What in the world? I slowly walk towards the strange portal to get a better look at it.
Suddenly, I stop walking as I remember what Steve told me. He had described a portal that looks suspiciously like this one that dragged him into it. "Oh no," I mutter, taking a guess at what's about to happen to me.
Tentacles suddenly rush out of the meat blocks and start coming for me. I reach for the knife that I brought and pull it out of my pocket, so quickly that it cuts it open a little. One tentacle comes for me and I slash at it with the knife, severing it. The severed piece falls on the ground and a puddle of black goo starts leaking out of and around it. As I look back up, two more tentacles are coming at me and I duck suddenly, dodging them. I turn around and see them behind me. They both come at me and I slash at one while dodging the other. Suddenly, I feel one wrap around one of my ankles and yank me towards the portal. Fuck.
The force of the pull is strong enough to make me fall face first on the ground. I notice blood beginning to trickle out of my nose as I feel another tentacle tightly wrap around my other ankle. They both start pulling me towards the portal. I see a thick tree root sticking out of the ground and cling onto it, dropping my knife. I'm able to hold onto it but not for too long. The tentacles overpower me and I can't help but let go of the root. The tentacles start dragging me even closer to the portal.
I try to wiggle my feet free but the tentacles are wrapped too tightly around them, and are only constricting tighter. I feel my body being dragged through the portal. The sensation of the portal is both painful and numbing at the same time. I start to feel nauseous as my lower half is pulled into the portal. I throw up a little in my mouth and my vision starts getting fuzzy. I suddenly see a flash of blue moving towards me; it's Steve. He's too late though. The portal is up to my neck before he can even get within ten feet of me.
"Shrek!" He cries out to me, "No!"
I feel the portal engulf me up to my nose and I slam my eyes shut as my body is fully immersed in the portal.
- STEVE POV -
"No!" I cry out as I fall to my knees in front of the now disappearing portal. I sob into my hands, not knowing when, or if, I'll see my love again. "I'm going to save him," I spat in between sobs. I weakly stumble back onto my feet, shouldn't you tell Fiona? My brain questions me. "She'll be fine," I mutter to myself while wiping tears and dirt from my face.
I begin thinking about how I could find that portal again. It seems as if it spawns somewhere randomly and only disappears once someone goes through it, or happens to be forced through it. I begin wandering through the forest, dead leaves crunching with each step. The portal could be anywhere.
- FIONA POV -
I begin to get a bit worried as the sun sets. Shrek hasn't come home, and neither has Steve. I open the front door and look outside, scanning the forest for either of them, but I don't see any signs of life. I go back inside to take care of the kids but I can't stop thinking about Shrek and Steve.
- STEVE POV -
I continue looking for the portal as it turns night. "The damned thing could be anywhere," I mutter while walking. "I should get some rest before trying to save him," I interrupt myself, scouting around for a comfortable looking spot. I spot a pile of leaves on the ground and decide that it's good enough to sleep on for the night.
I crawl onto the pile of leaves and lay down on them. It's not as comfortable as it looks but it'll have to do for now. I don't know my way out of this forest so I can't just go back and sleep in my bed. I close my eyes and try to sleep.
- FIONA POV -
I tuck in the triplets and leave their room. I go over to the front door and look outside again. "It's night," I hum to myself. "Why aren't they back yet?" I step outside and call out for both of them, but as I expected, I get no response. I go back inside and into my bedroom. I lay down and try to sleep but I can't. I'm too worried that they're not safe. I can't go looking for them though, I have the kids to take care of, I think disappointingly. I sigh and shut my eyes, forcing myself to just sleep.
Chapter 7: Search and Rescue
Chapter Text
- STEVE POV -
I wake up and see the bright sun shining through the trees above me. I squint and remember that I'm not in a bed as I feel my back ache. I groan and stretch out my limbs. I sit up and listen to the birds chirp. As I'm listening to the chirping, I remember why I'm out here. I look around and listen for the portal but hear nothing. I sigh and stand up.
I begin walking through the woods in search of that damned portal. After about probably an hour of aimlessly walking through the forest, I hear the familiar swooshing noise of a portal. I suddenly stop walking and perk up, almost like a cat. I glance around and start jogging in the direction of the sounds. After jogging for a bit, I slow down and bend over, putting my hands on my knees while catching my breath.
I look up as I hear the sound of the portal fade away from in front of me and fade back in behind me. I whip around and see the portal ominously towering over me. I stumble backwards, nearly falling over. "I guess I have to go through it," I mutter to myself, taking a shaky step towards the portal. The tentacles slowly start coming out of those meat blocks the portal is made of. I stare at them while slowly creeping towards the portal.
I inhale deeply and take a few more steps towards the portal. I can feel my heart starting to pound heavily in my chest. I stare into the portal that's now only a few inches from my face. I sigh and look down. I close my eyes and take one deep breath before running into the portal.
I feel my body tumble through the portal and soon enough I pop out on the other side. I clench my stomach as I feel the oh-so familiar queasiness paired with being transported between dimensions.
As I look up, I see my beloved, blocky world. I let out a sigh of relief but stop mid-sigh, remembering why I'm here. I need to find Shrek. I let the rest of the air in my lungs out and look around. I'm in the middle of a dark oak forest. "Great," I grumble. "These forests are so confusing," I mutter. I pick a direction and begin walking that way while calling out Shrek's name every few seconds.
While wandering through the forest, I see a dim, red glow in the distance. I walk closer to the light and look at it, puzzled. It's a two-by-two tunnel dug into the a hill, lit with red stone torches. "What?" I ask myself. I sigh and keep looking through the forest. "I can't be getting distracted," I scold myself. I quickly break a tree and some stone and craft myself a stone sword.
As the sun starts to set, I lose most of my hope I have for finding Shrek. I gather some wood and craft myself two wooden swords. I continue wandering through the forest as the sun sets and moon rises, killing mobs every now and then. "SHREEEKK!" I holler out, listening for a reply. After a few seconds of silence, I shout again, "SHHREEEEKKKK!!?!"
I stop moving when I think I hear a reply. "Shrek?" I hollered out. All I hear is distant mob sounds. I begin walking again but stop as I hear a crunch of leaves behind me. I spin around, sword in hand, but see nothing. "I'm literally going fucking insane," I sigh as I turn back around and continue walking.
I start to hear more and more unusual sounds, turning around each time. I sigh, starting to ignore the random crunches of leaves and snaps of twigs. While ignoring them, I fail to notice how much louder they've grown. I only realize how truly loud the sounds had gotten until I hear a loud snap that makes me jump.
I look over my shoulder and see a shadow figure zoom from behind one tree to another. I freeze and hear a few crunches of leaves from behind the tree the shadow figure used to hide. I slowly turn around to face the tree, being careful not to make a sound.
I slowly creep towards the tree, gripping the handle of my sword tightly. As I reach the tree, I put one hand on it and mentally prepare. I quickly look behind the tree while raising my sword. "What the fu-" I start to say as I see nothing behind the tree, but get cut off by something jumping on my back, making me fall face first on the ground.
I force the thing off my back and roll over. I look at the thing and see a few blue colors dimly lit by the moon. I stand up while staring at the figure who is now also standing.
I run up to the figure and begin to swing my sword but stop once I look into its eyes. "No way," I mutter, moving back slightly. The figure is just like me, except, his eyes are completely white.
"He-Herobrine!?" I gasp, backing up more. Suddenly, a square of fire appears around me. My breathing starts to become quick and shallow. The fire starts to close in around me and I feel dizzy. I fall down onto my hands and knees as my eye sight starts slowly fading in and out.
Suddenly, I feel my weak body get scooped up off the ground. I feel air swishing past my face. I start to get my vision back and see blurry shapes whizzing past me. My brain starts to function normally again and I process what just happened. I start panicking as my brain realizes what's now occurring.
I flail my arms and legs violently, making the person drop me, "I don't wanna dieee!!" I beg as I crawl away. I can tell that the sun is coming up, judging by the light beams starting shining through the trees. I start to cry as my arms give out and I face plant onto the grass.
I squeeze my eyes shut as I feel strong hands grip my waist and pull me up. The hands prop me up against what I think is a tree. I open my teary eyes and see a green blob through the tears. "CREEPER!!" I shout, shielding myself from the explosion about to happen.
Nothing happens for a few seconds. I feel the hands pull my arms down from my face. They slide down my arms and grasp my hands. I open my eyes and realize that the green blob I saw is Shrek, making me gasp.
"Sh-Shrek?!" I exclaim while wiping tears from my face. Shrek smiles at me and pulls me up onto my feet. His green hands slide down and around my torso as he gazes into my eyes. I gaze right back into his and feel myself start to blush.
I slide my hands up onto Shrek's chest and feel his heart beat. My eyes stray from Shrek's and down to his luscious lips. My mind wanders to thoughts of us tenderly making out, tongues and all.
My thoughts are suddenly interrupted by Shrek pulling me into a passionate kiss. I feel my face go red as our lips meet and our tongues graze one another. I slide my hands up from his chest to behind his neck, pulling him closer to me. He gently pulls at my hair, causing my mouth to open slightly; which allows a moan to escape my lips. Shrek becomes more aggressive as he pushes his tongues further into my mouth. I welcome his tongue by meeting it with mine, almost as if we were shaking hands. Shrek pulls back slightly and looks into my eyes. As he does this, a string of saliva connects our wet lips shortly before breaking. Shrek's cheeks have been adorned with several shades of red, which deepen towards the highest points. I'm sure my cheeks look similar to Shrek's. He moves forwards for another kiss, however the action is suddenly interrupted by the snap of a twig breaking. Our heads both whip in the direction of the noise and we simultaneously gasp.
Chapter 8: Bloody Knuckles
Chapter Text
- SHREK POV -
I stared in disbelief. How did he find us? We ran so far! Herobrine stares right back at me and smirks as I turn my body towards him, taking a step forwards. We continue to stare each other down for what seems like ages until Herobrine suddenly casts a ring of fire around us.
"Steve, go," I sternly command without turning to look at him. I hear his running footsteps in return. My fists begin to tighten as I stare into Herobrine's empty, white eyes.
I suddenly charge at Herobrine but abruptly stop in my tracks as he disappears from in front of me. I whip around see him floating in the air behind me holding a fireball. He smiles evilly at me as he raises his arm, holding the fireball higher into the air.
I duck instantly and basically fall on the ground as Herobrine throws the firey mass at me. As I look up at him, I see him holding two more fireballs in either hand. I quickly roll behind a tree as he throws them both in my direction.
I sit up and press my back against the log of the tree. I can feel the bark scratching the back of my head. I briskly roll up my sleeves to my elbows and brush some dirt off of myself.
I hastily stand up as I hear Herobrine's approaching footsteps. Suddenly, the tree I'm sheltering myself behind goes up in flames, scorching my skin as I hear a loud boom come from the sky. I jump away from the burning tree and turn to face it. I scan the flames for a second before turning to my left to face Herobrine.
He comes zooming at me and tries to punch me in the face, but I jump away before he can hit me. As I look up, I see Herobrine's fist inches from my face. I fly backwards in the air when his hand makes contact with my face.
My flight is abruptly stopped by a tree slamming into my back, knocking the wind out of me. I grunt as I hit the ground with a thud, desperately trying to catch my breath. I shakily stand up and wipe a mixture of blood and dirt from the corner of my mouth and look up.
I glare at Herobrine before charging at him, but as he disappears, I swiftly turn around and tackle him to the ground. I grab him by his throat and push him up against a tree, squeezing his neck tightly.
I glare intensely into Herobrine's hollow eyes. I shut mine and choke him harder, while also pushing him against the tree with more force. I open my eyes and see Steve staring up at me with watery eyes and lowered brows.
I gasp and drop Steve on the ground, "St-Steve I'm so sorry! I-I thought you were H-Herobrine!" I frantically apologize to my friend who is lying limp on the ground.
I spin around looking for Herobrine until I see him holding an stone sword. My expression turns sour. I feel my jaw clench with rage and my throat tighten while staring at him.
I run at him full speed and tackle him to the ground once again. I grab his neck and pushed his back onto the dirt while pummeling his face with my other hand. Herobrine drops his sword and raises his hands to mine, scratching at them lightly. His face begins to turn red and his eyes slowly seem to lose some life, life that was never there.
I see him mouth "Shrek," as he weakly lifts his arm to point behind me. I glanced over my shoulder but immediately turn back to my dying victim. I stop for a moment before looking over my shoulder again. I immediately spring up off the ground and turn around to look up at Herobrine who was now floating a few blocks off the ground. I look back down at who I had been choking and realize that it had been Steve, once again. What?!
My face twists with anger and I grab the sword Steve is holding. I stand up and suddenly rush towards Herobrine, swinging the stone sword all over the place. When I turn around to look up at Herobrine, he isn't there. I glance around in confusion and see Herobrine doubled over, leaning on a tree. I had slashed him in the stomach.
Herobrine disappears from in front of me suddenly. I glance around but Herobrine is nowhere to be seen. All of a sudden, I get a weird feeling. I look up and see Herobrine coming straight for me. I jump out of his way and he turns towards me, before hitting the ground. I back up but run into something. I spin around and notice it's a wall of something. I think Steve told me about this. I think it's called- netherrack?
I turns back to face Herobrine and see him walking forwards, cornering me. Suddenly, I hear screaming. Not just any screaming; it sounds like a banshee. Herobrine stops walking and turns towards the sound, only to be met by a screaming Steve jumping on top of him.
I stare at the pair, tumbling around on the ground for a second, before realizing what just happened. I grip the handle of the sword and run up to them, inhaling deeply. With a forceful shriek, I jab forwards and impale Herobrine directly through the chest, hopefully hitting his lifeless, blocky heart. Herobrine suddenly becomes limp, as thick blood seeps out from the wound and into his shirt fibers. I pull the bloody sword from Herobrine's chest and sigh heavily.
I drop the sword on the ground and look to Steve. "Do you wanna get out of here?" I chuckle.
"Hell yeah," Steve replies as he wipes some sweat from his forehead. "I've never wanted to get out of this place so badly."
I glance back down at Herobrine's limp body; his eyes are no longer glowing and have started to fade. I look back up at Steve and his eyes meet mine. I reach my sweaty hand out, and Steve takes it. Together, we walk away from Herobrine's body and into the forest.
- HEROBRINE POV -
My eyes flutter open as I grin. This won't be the last you see of me, Shrek...
Chapter 9: Fresh Meat
Chapter Text
- FIONA POV -
I lay in bed, motionless. Shrek's been gone for so long. I feel a few tears escape my eyes and slowly run down my cheeks. Soon, more tears are running down my face and my breathing begins to get shaky. I sit up and gaze up into the night sky through the window. Maybe he's out there. He has to be... somewhere out there.
I almost lose myself in the stars and my emotions until I'm snapped out of my trance by an echoing knock. C-could it be? Is it really him?
I rush out of bed and to the front door while wiping my face dry. As soon as I'm in reaching distance of the handle I swing the door open and throw myself at the person standing there.
"Shrek I missed you so muuahh-"
My hug is interrupted by my face suddenly in the dirt. "Ow," I mutter as I sit up and dust myself off.
Glancing around, I don't see anyone. Well that's strange. I could've sworn someone knocked-
"Ahem- Princess Fiona," a voice breaks me from my thought.
I look down and see Lord Farquaad looking up at me. Farquaad? Him of all people? He's not in his usual attire; he's in just a golden robe, his hair slicked back. I hoist myself up off the ground and into a standing position, in front of him.
"I noticed that your... um- monster... of a husband hasn't been around lately," Farquaad asserted while a smirk of some sorts begins to form on his lips.
I sigh heavily, looking down at my feet. God I can't bear the thought of what could be happening to Shrek, why did Farquaad have bring him up. "Yeah... How did you notice so quickly?"
"I uh-" Farquaad pauses, "I just have my ways..." He finishes with a chuckle, as he grins slightly.
We stare at each other for a few seconds before Farquaad breaks the silence, "Princess Fiona... do you mind if I... come inside?"
"Uh- I don't see why not," I agree, shuffling back over to the door and further dusting myself off. I smile at Farquaad and stretch an arm out, welcoming him inside. He enters, followed by me.
As I shut the door I ask, "Um, can I get you anything? Water?"
"I'm fine. But you know what I do want," He replies, turning to face me.
"What?" I ask.
"A piece of you~" He says, grinning and stepping towards me.
"F-Farquaad-" I begin.
"Please, call me Max," He says cutting me off.
"Far- M-Max, I'm married. You know this!" I say, backing up a bit.
"Yeah, yeah, but, he's gone. No one has to know," Max grins even wider and steps even closer to me.
"B-but-" I stutter.
"Shhhhh," Max hushes me while grabbing my hand and pulling me in the direction of my bedroom. I tug my arm back towards myself but Max squeezes my wrist, making me yelp. I reluctantly follow him.
He walks me into the bedroom and shuts the door behind us, locking it. He proceeds to pull a ribbon around his waist, untying it. His robe gracefully falls to the floor as his naked body is exposed.
He has a massive cock. It seems to be at least two feet long. Damn Max, you're really packin'. He waddles over to me, his dick flopping in between his legs with every tiny step.
"Um," Farquaad stares at me. "Would you mind taking off your dress?" He asks awkwardly.
- FARQUAAD POV -
As Fiona takes off her dress, her massive, voluptuous tits bounce out. They're spilling out of a light blue, lacy bra that matches her lace panties. As my eyes graze her beautiful body, I notice the fat rolls on her belly. Immediately, my dick stands straight up.
- FIONA POV -
Farquaad's cock grows at least another foot as he stares at my body. Fiona what are you doing; you're married! I pick Max up and carry him over to my bed, laying him down on it.
I hover over him and begin sucking on his massive meat rod. I can't even fit a fourth of it in my mouth without gagging.
"Mmmm, your mouth feels so good." Farquaad moans quietly.
Something about that moan... it just... makes me so horny! I continue to move my mouth up and down on his shaft. Well, at least the part I can fit in my mouth!
My saliva drips down all over his dick as I continue to suck. Suddenly, he grabs a fist full of my hair and shoves his dick deep into my throat. I gag, nearly vomiting, as his warm cum fills my mouth.
"Mmmgmhhmmg," he moans as I gulp down his thick cum, trying my best not to gag.
As soon as he let's go of my hair, I pull his cock out of my mouth and gasp for air. "Jeez Max, you gotta give me a warning before you do something like that," I mutter while wiping my mouth.
Farquaad rolls his eyes and crawls up onto his knees. He pushes me down on my chest so I'm flat on the bed. All of a sudden, I feel a sharp pain on the back of my left thigh.
"Ow!" I yelp, quickly rolling over and bringing my legs up to my chest. "What the fuck was that?!" I yell at Max.
He grins at me while holding up a knife and fork. "Shhh.. I know you want this, Fiona," he whispers quietly. His words drip with lust and evil.
"What the fuck?! Are you fucking crazy," I yell at him, getting off the bed to go check my leg in the mirror.
All of a sudden, Farquaad jumps off the edge of the bed. He flies through the air and onto my back, and latches onto my shoulders like a backpack.
"Fiona," he hisses "Just enjoy it!"
Suddenly, he slides down my back and to the floor. He slashes at my thigh with his knife and a chunk of meat rolls down my leg.
I scream as the meat on my leg dangles off, hanging on by hardly anything. Max grabs a chunk of my hair and yanks me to the floor. I begin to cry out, "Please- y-you don't have to do this-"
Farquaad hushes me as he begins to lick the inside of my wound. "F-Farquaad- pl-p-please stop- it hurts so b-bad-" I cry out.
Farquaad suddenly chomps down on the loose piece of meat, separating it from my leg. I scream out in pain.
He suddenly rips my legs open and begins to eat me out, quite literally. It hurts so bad, but, the pain kind of feels good. He chomps down on my pussy and rips some of my flesh off, eating it.
Instead of screaming from the pain this time, I moan loudly. "Mhm, see? I told you you wanted it," Farquaad barks while eating my flesh and meat.
He goes back down and takes a few more chomps out of my wet, and bloody vagina. The pain feels too good.
After awhile, Farquaad stands up and grabs his robe, redressing himself. "Thank you Fiona, I believe I best be on my way now." He wipes my blood from his mouth with his robe and leaves my room, leaving me bleeding out on the floor.
I hear a scream come from outside.
Chapter 10: Amber Alert
Chapter Text
- FIONA POV -
I grasp the edge of my bed and shakily hoist myself up onto my feet. Everything hurts so bad. I take one step but immediately yelp from the pain engulfing my lower body. Come on Fiona, you can do this! I stumble my way through the house, holding myself up with the furniture strewn about, to where I believe the scream came from... the kids' room.
As I reach the hallway, I start to feel faint. Dizzily looking down and behind myself, I notice a startlingly big trail of blood leading up to my feet. Holy shit, am I gonna die? I shake myself out of this trance and push to check on the kids. I have to make it, the kids need me.
I reach for the handle and practically fall into the room as the door opens. I land on my hands and knees on the floor with a thud. Dazed, I lift my head to look at the kids, my vision starting to blur. I gasp, then shriek as I see the mess that's been made.
- STEVE POV -
"Well Shrek, this is where I lived before I got transferred to... wherever your reality is," I explain while showing him around my universe. "It's quite nice isn't it? Way less confusing than your world with all the confusing shapes," I laugh, turning to look up into his alluring, brown eyes.
Shrek moves, his hands grip mine as he also turns to face me, looking down slightly. I can see his gorgeous, green skin turn slightly pinker than usual before he starts speaking. "Um- Steve," he says softly, breaking his gentle gaze to look at the ground. "Have you ever felt like you- um... belonged with someone?"
"Yeah, I have..." I mumble, forming a picture of my ex, Alex, in my mind. "I figured out I was wrong when I thought that though, so I've learned to ignore those thoughts. But-" Shrek cuts me off.
"Oh- I'm- I'm so sorry about that. I-I-," he pauses to gulp, "I shouldn't have brought this up. I'm s-sorry Steve." His voice dials down to merely a whisper as he finishes his sentence. I can see his eyes start to become glassy moments before he squeezes them shut and turns his head to the left, loosening his grip on my hands.
"Shrek," I croon while squeezing his hands slightly. "You didn't let me finish my sentence."
His head droops and I can see him staring blankly at the grass below us. About half of his face is dimly illuminated by the setting sun, highlighting his features, but also allowing me to see the tears welling in his eyes.
"Finish it then," he croaks weakly.
"But," I begin to speak. "I think I might trust my thoughts now. I've met a man so incredible, so sweet, and caring. A man that I almost feel was made for me, as if he was the last piece to my puzzle... Shrek..." I pause, and take a deep breath before completing my thought, "Shrek, that man is you."
I could tell those last few words hit Shrek deeply, based on how his eyes seemed to spark with faint hints of emotion when they escaped my mouth.
A deafening silence falls upon us as Shrek keeps his gaze fixated on the ground. I inhale and break the quiet with a sigh as I huff out, "We should find somewhere to sleep for the night, or else the mobs will get us."
I turn away from Shrek and glance around our surroundings for some ways to obtain wool to craft beds, "Shrek, you can go gather some wood for us." I continue, "If we don't have any, we won't be able to sleep through the night."
He turns away from me without a word and wanders slightly to some trees, and begins striking them repeatedly. I watch him for a few moments before suddenly veering my eyes to the right with a heavy blink, where I spot some sheep. I start walking over to them.
- SHREK POV -
My mind races as I process what Steve just said to me. How could- does he- did he mean what he said? I raid my mind for any details I remember from the past few minutes in an attempt to comprehend what just happened.
As I hit trees mindlessly, I notice Steve gathering wool from sheep, in a somewhat cruel way. Instead of just cutting the wool off, he's killing the sheep. Is that normal here?
I bring five logs to Steve and, like second nature, he immediately crafts a crafting bench in his inventory and places it on the ground, followed by crafting two beds. Steve places the beds on the ground next to each other and climbs into one of them. I pause and stare at the current arrangement.
"Well, what're you waiting for?" He queries while looking up at me.
"N-nothing-" I stammer, moments before slipping into the bed next to the one Steve is in. I can't believe I'm about to sleep this close to Steve! My heart races at the thought of Steve in the same bed as me.
I exhale shakily, yet wearily while rolling onto my side to face Steve. Our gazes meet and I frown slightly, "Steve, this bed is just a bit too small for me, don't you think?"
"Oh uh- I guess you'll just have to suck up it for the night, it's really all we have," he shrugs in reply.
"Great," I sigh heavily with a slight eye roll. Great? Just great? Amazing! I excitedly scream in my mind, I'm even closer to him than I could ever imagine!
I gaze up into the night sky, sparsely speckled with square stars. I could live in this moment forever. My eyes slowly close and I fall asleep.
- DONKEY POV -
"Good morning, babe," I sing out to my beautiful wife. As per routine, I trot outside to get some delicious sun rays. I haven't seen Shrek in awhile... Maybe I should visit him today!
"Honey, I'm going to Shrek's," I shout to my gorgeous wife, before leaving in the direction of Shrek's hut.
When I arrive, his swamp seems oddly barren. I know it's early but I can't shake the feeling that something is off. I knock on the front door with my hoof, only to get no response.
"Shrek?" I pause before yelling again, "Shrek I'm gonna come in!"
I move back a few feet, distancing myself from the door. I run towards it and kick it with two of my hooves, busting it down.
I gaze into the empty house, no one. Usually it's pretty lively within Shrek's home, so this state of desolation it's in creates an eerie aura. I peer deeper into the house and notice a shocking amount of blood running through the back, almost like a river. I nearly vomit at the sight of it.
"Sh-Shrek," I shakily call out. "Shrek this-this isn't f-funny."
I enter the house and ogle at the bloody stream. Wait a second, I pause. This leads into the kids' room! I gasp and run over to the hallway, suddenly tripping over a mound on the floor.
"Ow," I yelp as I tumble into the room. I sit up and look back over at what tripped me. I shriek in horror as I observe Fiona's presumably lifeless body, "F-Fiona!"
I whip my head to the right and see three cribs lined up against the wall. All of them are empty, however, all of them are drenched with blood. "Fiona where are the kids," I scream out, running over to check the empty cradles for any remnants of the kids.
Looking to my right, I notice an open window and blood splotches scarcely leading off into the distance. I can hardly comprehend what I'm seeing.
My thoughts are interrupted by a sound from behind me. My heart sinks as I slowly twist my head to peer behind myself.
Chapter 11: Predation Sensation
Chapter Text
- DONKEY POV -
"Fiona!" I cry as I see where the noise originated from. "Fiona, you're alive oh my god!"
I rush over to her limp body that's barely clinging onto life, "Fiona listen, I'll call an ambulance or something and they can help you! I just need you to stay awake for me, please!"
I run out of the bedroom and into the living room. Phone, phone, where's the phone... I glance around the room until my thoughts are interrupted by another sound, this time from a different area; the front door.
My head whips to peer at the front door as it slowly opens with a small creak. Is it the kids? Oh, please be the kids! The hinges squeal as the door is pushed fully open, and I see a small figure framed in the doorway. No- No why is he here, "F-Farquaad?!"
"Donkey?" He seems slightly taken aback judged by how his speech falters, "W-What are you doing here?"
"I-" I pause and scan Farquaad with my eyes, looking him up and down a few times over. He's wearing a fancy, gold embellished robe covered with splotches of some dark liquid. My heart begins skipping beats and my breathing turns shaky before I tremble out, "F-Farquaad- what- what is that on y-your robe?" The question is pointless, as I could already make an accurate guess as to what the stains are.
Farquaad glares at me; I can feel his eyes groping me with an insatiable hunger. He seems to be lost in thought, I wonder what he's thinking about. My thoughts are cut off suddenly, yet answered, by Farquaad speaking, "Mmmm Donkey, I think you would make a wonderful snack." He's drooling at this point, and licking his lips like a dog.
"Wh-what-"
"You heard me. I said you look like a wonderful snack."
"F-Farquaad what do you mean? Did you- did you do that to Fiona?" I interrogate him loudly and begin to look around the house for somewhere to run, just in case he tries anything. I nervously gulp down thick saliva as I see him take a small step forward, "F-F-Farquaad- what a-are you d-doing? Get- get away fr-from me!"
"Shhhh," he hushes me while gently putting a gloved finger to his soft, rosy lips. "Don't worry, everything will all be over soon."
Those same delicate lips lace each word with a painfully lustful venom as they escape his mouth one by one, making my stomach churn. I turn to glance at Fiona's body, but, it's gone. How in the world did she- where did she go?
I have no time to think before Farquaad suddenly breaks into a sprint, so I do as well. I dash back towards the bedroom and notice a blood trail leading further down the hallway. Ignoring it, I turn into the bedroom and immediately spot the open window. Yes, my way out! I run towards the window at full speed and leap out through it.
"Hah! Take that Farquaad," I sing out before looking back. Only, he's not behind me. I slow to a stop and glance around. "Shit," I blurt out as I see Farquaad sprinting towards me from the front door.
I scurry to the left and around the side of Shrek's hut. I slow down to a light jog and trot around to the back of the shelter. I pause to catch my breath, but sharply inhale as I hear a voice call out my name paired with light grass crunching.
Thoughts race through my mind, I need to get out of here or else- or else- I need to get out of here before I figure out what he's planning to do to me! I slowly move around the rest of the house, towards my own. Once I get to the side opposite of where I was before, I book it into the surrounding forest. I know Farquaad heard this, as the small yet fast footsteps from behind me start back up again, though further away this time. I run for my dear life; I run until I can't hear anything but my own heart, footsteps, and breath. I abruptly stop, the sun... the sun is going down...
"No, no, no, no," I softly mutter between heavy pants while beginning to enter a panicked mindset. Glancing around, I can't see anything, or anyone. I need a place to sleep...
- FARQUAAD POV -
As I peer down on my prey from the treetops, I know he has no clue as to where I am. I grin and feel my mouth slowly fill with saliva. Gulping, I move slowly and quietly through the randomly crossing branches and leaves, all while keeping a keen eye on my fluffy victim. As triumph nears, my mouth waters more and more, becoming harder to contain.
- DONKEY POV -
I notice a not so inviting pile of leaves that I can sleep on. They look mildly uncomfortable, but that's not what matters right now, I just need somewhere to sleep. Exhaling an exhausted huff, I turn in a few circles and gently lay my body onto the leaves. I was right, not comfortable at all. I begin thinking, I wonder what would've happened if Farquaad would have caught me... Would he have... I need to stop thinking about this, I need to try to sleep! However, the thoughts occupying my mind are suddenly drawn into the back of my head as I hear something, a sound from nearby. It sounded like a small crunch of leaves or a branch. It's probably just wildlife, there's no way Farquaad could have found me here.
Except another sound, but this time it's not a rustle. It sounds as if something had dropped onto the ground directly in front of me. I move forwards and tilt my head down slowly to peer at the leaves on the ground beneath me. Yet another dropping sound occurs, except this time I notice the substance as it falls through the air. It was a white substance that dropped onto a leaf, it's wet. My breathing becomes lighter as well as more shallow, and my vision becomes tunneled as I slowly pick my head up from the downwards position, and tilt it upwards to peer above me; the sight is horrifying.
Farquaad has all four of his limbs splayed out, each clinging onto some of the branches from the immediately surrounding trees. He has stripped himself of all his clothes, exposing his entire naked, hairy body. I notice his mouth glistening with saliva which is reflecting the moonlight; presumably the same liquid that had fallen in down in front of me. His cheeks have tightly pulled up the corners of his mouth to form a hideous grin plastered on his chiseled face, unmoving even when he whispers, "Donkey..."
Chapter 12: Brainsick Compulsions
Chapter Text
- SHREK POV -
My eyelids flutter open, exposing my eyeballs to the frigid night air and sky; a black canvas dazzled with an abundance of sparkling white squares, varying greatly in size. Directly above me, a mighty luminous square moon, brighter than all the four-sided stars combined. Blocky clouds sparsely populate the artwork, each differing in opacity. Truly a beautiful sight for such a strange world.
I roll to my right which brings Steve's resting face into my view. He looks so peaceful. His jaw lies ajar; I can feel his small and rhythmic breaths on my face. His lips, so relaxed, form his perfect mouth. I match my breaths with Steve's and begin to lose myself in a train of thought. So cute. I move closer to Steve's face and feel mine begin to tingle shortly before becoming warm. My lips part slightly as I move closer to Steve, my warm breaths traveling through them into my lungs and back out my mouth. Closer now, I study the shape of his mouth, narrow wrinkles on his lips. Unbeknownst to Steve, we begin to swap breaths with one another. My head tilts down which leaves no more than a few centimeters between both of our faces.
No. I sharply turn away to scold myself, I can't be doing this while he's asleep, that's so creepy. I retreat further to the left side of my bed in shame. Pull yourself together, Shrek. Images of Steve and me kissing infiltrate my mind; those perfect lips against mine as our warm tongues dance gracefully in sync with one another. I want more...
- DONKEY POV -
I can feel my heartbeat in my head. How long have I been running? I can't remember. My lungs sting from such aggressive usage and my legs are starting to burn as well. I can hardly see even a few feet ahead of me due to how deeply into the forest Farquaad has chased me. My vision blurs slightly which prompts me to slow down somewhat as I forcefully blink my eyes. My vision returns to an extent, however it is still inhibited. My head stoops as I continue on until a sharp pain in my chest causes my legs to falter. I trip over myself and tumble a considerable distance. As I come to a stop, I curl into a ball. It hurts so bad. I struggle to breathe and my head begins to flood with pain.
I feel something touch my side which impels my head to raise. I see Farquaad's small figure looming over my weak body; he's petting my side.
"Oh Donkey," he says sweetly. "You didn't have to do this to yourself, you didn't have to run so far for no reason."
He continues to pet me, gradually moving his hand up to my throat. He lightly squeezes my neck and chuckles heartily, "Don't worry, Donkey. It'll all be over soon."
He wanders a foot or two, searches the ground, and returns with a decently sized stick. He crouches down by my belly and I try to crawl away. Whatever is about to happen, I don't want it at all. I pathetically attempt to crawl away, however I don't get very far before Farquaad simply pulls me back towards him by my hind legs.
"Stay still," he barks at me. "You'll make everything worse than it already is if you keep struggling."
My mind is muddled with pain and mixed thoughts, and I can't form any coherent, let alone sensible thoughts. My foggy and fragmented consciousness is suddenly all gathered to a sharp pain in my stomach. I yelp and flail my body about. Farquaad grabs my legs and pulls me towards him again though. I peer down at my belly only to see Farquaad attempting to drive the stick into me, presumably the second time. I scream out in pain as the twig breaks through my skin.
"F-Farquaad," I cry out. "Please, I- I won't tell anyone what I s-saw! I promise!"
Farquaad responds to my plea by driving the stick further into my torso. He then roughly pulls it towards my hind legs, slowly ripping my underside open. I can feel the skin being separated inch by inch as he continues to drag the stick over. I start crying and screaming from the pain, it hurts so bad. Farquaad giggles as he stops pulling the stick, only after traveling the length of my body. He attempts pulls the stick out of my belly, but it halts. The sudden stop makes me wail.
"F-Farquaad, please!"
He seems to be enjoying my crying and screaming, as my second plea only makes him giggle more. With more aggression this time, Farquaad yanks on the stick and it comes out of me with a sharp pain. I start to feel lightheaded and my breathing rapidly changes pace. Everything hurts so bad.
Farquaad places both of his hands on either side of the gash, sliding his fingertips underneath the flaps of skin. My eyes widen immediately before Farquaad begins pulling the edges of the wound in opposite directions. I scream as he does this, which only makes him go further. He pulls the gash apart until my screaming seems to be dialing down, only then does he finally stop and let go of my skin. I shakily whimper and feel wind breeze over my tear-drenched face. I squint my eyes from the sudden cold and the focus of my consciousness is taken away from my open stomach for a few seconds.
I'm brought back to the pain as I feel pressure accompanied by an intense and sharp pain shortly after. I can feel Farquaad rummaging around inside of my belly, moving my organs around. I begin to feel very lightheaded and suddenly find it quite difficult to breathe. Farquaad takes notice to my struggling and begins to quicken his movements. Abruptly, he begins pulling my entrails out, separating and ripping them from the mesentery that once held everything in place. I begin to panic and start screaming wildly fueled by energy purely from the adrenaline coursing through my system.
"Oh come on, Donkey," Farquaad whispers in my ear. "Don't pass out just yet, we haven't even gotten to the main course!" I can tell he's grinning now by the way he whispered those words.
Farquaad grabs both my front legs and drags my limp body to a tree only a few feet away, and props my back against the trunk. A nasty grin pulls the corners of his mouth into a hideous smile before his hisses, "I want you to watch, Donkey." Each word he speaks seems to have a lustful undertone, as if he gets off on torturing people like this.
His grin only widens as he plunges his hand into my open torso while maintaining eye contact with me. I whimper and feel tears stream down my cheeks as he fumbles with my organs. He grabs a fistful of entrails again, and yanks them out, making me whine out in pain. I can tell that the adrenaline level in my body has dropped profoundly, as I have almost no energy to even groan from the excruciating pain anymore. While still maintaining intense eye contact with me, Farquaad slowly raises his clenched fist holding my guts to his mouth, and smirks.
Slowly, he opens his mouth and places the entrails inside. He chews them slowly yet deliberately while beginning to laugh, "Mmm, Donkey, you're delicious!" He chuckles with his mouth closed before swallowing the meat.
My head droops as my vision becomes fuzzy. Farquaad grabs the underside of my snout and faces it towards him in order to force me to look at him. Again, he plunges his fist inside my belly and grabs more innards.
Pulling out another fistful of my guts, he barks a command at me, "Open your mouth."
Reluctantly, I do so, in fear of what would happen if I were to defy his orders. Farquaad smiles at me and pushes the hand holding my insides into my mouth. He places the smooth and squishy meat down in my mouth and closes my jaw with the bloody hand.
"Chew," he barks again.
I slowly begin to chew the squishy innards and immediately gag. The guts spill out of my mouth as I dry heave, nearly vomiting. Angrily, Farquaad grabs another handful of entrails and shoves more back into my mouth.
"Eat them, you ass," he yells this time.
With more haste, I chew the meat and gag yet again. However, I clamp my mouth shut in order to keep the guts inside of my mouth. After chewing more, I try to swallow; it proves to be quite difficult. I chew a bit more and resist a couple more gags, then attempt to swallow again. The smooth meat slides down my throat with a bit more ease this time. Immediately, my neck thrusts forward as I gag hard.
Farquaad pushes me onto my side again and rummages inside me some more. He begins to rapidly shovel my insides into his mouth. This is the last clear image I see before everything begins to spin. All objects visible swirl into a muddled circle of dark colors. I close my eyes to prevent myself from feeling too dizzy from the nauseating visuals, however I still feel an intense and sickening spinning sensation. Breathing becomes challenging and I stop receiving any auditorial input. Facsimiles begin to form in my mind.
I see myself as a child as my legs start to lose feeling. I see Shrek and myself saving princess Fiona from her castle as my head starts to feel light. Finally, I see my wife as I lose feeling in my whole body. The images slowly fade to black.
Chapter 13: Carnal Illusions
Chapter Text
- FIONA POV -
I'm startled awake by my body gasping for air. I shoot up off the cold floor and look around. I'm not dead... I'm not dead! I glance around and suddenly remember the events that have occurred over the past day. I had snuck into Steve's bedroom while Farquaad and Donkey were confronting each other. What time is it? I look up and out the window to my right and see that it seems to be very early in the morning. I raise myself up onto Steve's bed, to the left of me; pain radiates throughout my entire body as I do so. I stare at the closed door further to my left and peer at the trail of blood leading to where I had been lying on the floor.
- SHREK POV -
Turning to my right, I see Steve still asleep next to me; the same perfect features peacefully resting on his face as before. As I examine his face for the second time tonight, his eyelids start to twitch for a second or two, then his eyes flutter open. Steve groggily blinks a few times before intensely locking our gazes together. My face immediately heats up and I can tell my face is bright red. We stare at each other for what feels like forever, exchanging breaths in the process due to the closeness of our faces.
The deafening silence between us is finally broken as Steve speaks up, "Do you need something?"
"N-no I just- I just can't sleep," I lie and abruptly avert my eyes from the prolonged eye contact.
"Oh," Steve pauses. "I mean... I know something that might help."
"What is it?" I ask, finally looking back into Steve's eyes.
Steve doesn't respond to me, but instead sits up in bed and pushes the covers to the bottom of the bed. Angling his body towards mine, he stares at me for a few moments which prompts me to also sit up. Confusedly, I question him, "What?"
Without skipping a beat, Steve leans forwards and our lips meet. My eyes widen suddenly, and again, I feel my face instantly heat up and turn a bright shade of red. Steve pulls back a few inches and looks me in the eyes.
"Is this okay?" He asks.
"Y-yes-" I begin saying before he cuts me off by moving back in again to kiss me more.
I close my eyes this time and one of my hands finds its way to Steve's hip. Gently, our lips repeatedly graze each other's. I sit up further and move my other hand to Steve's other hip and pull him closer to me. His hands reach up and around my neck as both mine and his breathing becomes heavier. I pick him up slightly and sit him on my lap as our lips begin to caress each other's with increasing amounts of intensity. Now on my lap, Steve's hands rest on my shoulders and his head is tilted down.
Steve's lips part slightly which I take as an invitation to initiate a deeper kiss. I graze his lips with my tongue and he responds enthusiastically by parting his lips more. His tongue greets mine and beckons me to come further into his mouth. I oblige and gently slide my tongue into his mouth; he does the same. Our tongues warmly embrace, and move around each other as if performing a delicate dance.
Pulling away, Steve looks up at me again. As our eyes meet, I feel as if Steve is reading my mind through them; as if my eyes are simply windows, giving away my deepest thoughts and feelings hiding behind them. Steve briefly looks down, then back up at me again. I notice his face become a bit red before he asks, "Are you hard?"
My heart drops as I try to figure out how to explain the hard bulge in my pants right now, "I- Uhm- It-"
Steve cuts me off, "It's okay, don't worry. I can take care of it."
He slides himself off my lap and sits between my legs on the bed. Looking down, he moves his hands to the crotch of my pants. He undoes the strings cinching them around my hips. Moving one hand up, he grabs the brim of my pants and pulls it down, revealing my blue boxers, now tight around my crotch. I help Steve by pulling the back of my pants down. Gazing up at me now, Steve moves his hands to the brim of my boxers. He sits motionless for a few moments, staring up into my eyes; his beautiful brown eyes twinkle from the dim moonlight. Tracing back and forth on my underwear's brim with his hand, he speaks up, "Are you ready?"
I notice his cheeks seem as if they're glowing a deep red as he peers deeply into my eyes. I respond, "Y-yeah... Have you ever done this before?"
"No," Steve pauses and glances down momentarily before locking our gazes back together. "I haven't done anything like this with anyone, let alone a man..."
"O-oh.. Well if you don't want to do this you don't h-" Steve cuts me off.
"I want to do this, Shrek," Steve sighs before continuing. "I swear I'm crazy for you or something. Since the day I met you, I've felt so attracted to you for seemingly no reason." As Steve says this, I feel my cock twitch. "I was so confused for awhile because I've never felt like this for a man before; I thought I was straight... But I guess not..."
Steve starts pawing at my bulge through my boxers, "Let's get this started. Okay?"
"O-okay..."
"Shrek?" Steve stares at me.
"Yeah?"
Shrek?" He says again.
- STEVE POV -
"Shrek?" His eyes open suddenly and we make eye contact; his face turns beet red and his eyes widen. "Shrek? Are you okay? You looked like you were having a nightmare."
Shrek sits up abruptly and averts his gaze from mine. "I- Y-yeah I'm f-fine," he stammers. "Just a nightmare," he says while looking down into his lap.
Chapter 14: Ghosts and Ghouls
Chapter Text
- STEVE POV -
"Alright Shrek, well, we should probably get going," I chime while beginning to stand up from a crouching position. "Best to start early so we don't end up stuck out here in the dark." Standing fully upright now, I turn around and begin collecting the little supplies that we were able to collect last night, and put it all into my inventory. Shrek's gotten out of bed by now and is meandering around, kicking at the ground lightly; his eyes are locked on the grass beneath him.
After gathering all of our items, I pick up our beds as a final touch and stow them away in my inventory as well. "Shall we go now?" I ask Shrek. Without breaking his gaze from the ground, he replies in a mainly monotone voice, "Yeah... Sure..." I stare at him momentarily, just long enough for him to notice I haven't moved yet, which prompts him to tilt his head up to peer at me. Our eyes greet each other for a split second only for Shrek to abruptly look back down at his feet, weird.
I begin to walk back into the thick of the forest, glancing over my shoulder to check that Shrek is following, although there's a sizable gap between the two of us, he's indeed trailing behind me; I continue to check that he's still following me every now and then. After awhile, my stomach growls which prompts me to speak up, "We need to get some food." I frown and rub my belly. My statement is met with nothing more than silence from Shrek. He seems to be oddly quiet today, as he has yet to make any comments or statements of his own unless I directly spoke to him to elicit a response, I wonder if he's upset. I quickly wave away the thought fogging my conscious, I can't stand thinking he might be upset.
Passing tree after tree, we navigate the forest as one would a crowded mall, moving around tall figures and dodging outlines of plants littered around graciously. Time seems to be nearly unmoving due to the thick blanket of branches and leaves overhead blocking the sunlight which preserves a consistent lighting level, I could've sworn I passed that tree already. Pressing on, I walk more, passing the occasional giant mushroom. I've been leading Shrek and I in a straight line from where we had set up camp as to make sure we don't get too lost or turned around. This tree also looks uncannily familiar. I turn back around once more to look at Shrek, except he's not behind me anymore. "Shrek?" I glance at my surroundings but don't see him anywhere, "Shrek?!" Random scenarios begin to infiltrate my mind as I begin to panic. What if he got lost? What if something attacked him? What if Herobrine took him?
Hurriedly, I retrace my steps looking on either side of me. "Shrek!" I holler out, cupping my hands around my mouth. "Shrek, where are you?" I ditch the straight path I had been following in my flurry of panic and begin wander the forest randomly. My surroundings begin to darken from the thickening of the treetops as I roam deeper and deeper into the dark oak forest. Sprinting now, I'm passing dimly lit figures which I constantly need to double take. As I continue racing through the forest, more and more uncannily familiar figures and outlines begin to form in my peripherals. I'm hardly even looking straight now as I focus more on deciphering the ill-lit shapes manifesting. Ghastly silhouettes seem to be appearing from the darkness all around me now, almost as if they coordinated a sick attempt to engulf me whole. One by one, they each reach out for me now with grisly hands made of shadow; I can nearly feel the limbs grazing my body as I sprint by, trying to dodge them frantically. Suddenly, my body jolts to a stop and I feel my foot catch something on the ground.
My body lands on the ground with a dull thud that resonates throughout my entire being, knocking the wind out of me. Shit, ow! I wheeze for awhile, eventually catch my breath, and come back to my senses. Looking around again, I notice that now all the figures and forms that had seemed to be forming so freely, almost reaching out for me, have all disappeared, it was just my imagination. Am I going insane? I sit on the dirt and pick my mind apart, making fruitless jabs and attempts to try breaking the code of what's going on with my psyche, or even simply explain what I just experienced in a rational manner.
This forest is too creepy for me, I need to get out of here! I stand up shakily and glance around, still no sign of Shrek. Looking more intently into the forest now, I take in a scenic view void of any forms or life, or other life-like forms; just an empty abyss of dingy and drab trees and other foliage littered about. Suddenly, the sound of a twig snapping emanates from behind me. I whip around and scan between the trees and shrubs. "Shrek," I strain out. "Shrek, is that you?" I can hear my own voice wavering from the immense amounts of fear and adrenaline flowing throughout my veins. Again, another sound emanates from somewhere near me; the abrupt crunch of a leaf startles me. "AAAAAGH!" I scream as two heavy hands land on my shoulders and yank me backwards. I flail my arms around with my eyes squeezed closed as if to shield my mind from the danger.
After a few moments of nothing happening, I slowly open my eyes. The first image I'm greeted with is Shrek's face only but a few inches from my own. "Shrek! You're back! Where did you go, did you get lost?" I interrogate him momentarily before throwing my body into his arms, hugging him tightly. I feel Shrek's warm embrace as he wraps his arms around me pulls me even closer to him in return. All at once, I feel every drop of emotion in my soul suddenly overflow and break through the dam that had been holding it all back. I begin crying from a mixture of fear, happiness, and relief. Looking up at Shrek's face now, he finally looks at me for the first time today. Our eyes lock and an overwhelming sense of longing rises within me, I want to spend every moment in your arms.
Eventually I notice that Shrek's expression, while loving, seems to also have overtones of worry entwined within. "What's wrong?" I cock my head slightly and question him. In response, Shrek edges me out of our tight embrace. Holding me by the hips now, Shrek gazes down into my eyes and almost whispers, "I saw him."
"What? Who did you see?"
"Herobrine."
"Herobrine?!" I shout astounded. "You saw Herobrine?! Are you okay?! Did he hurt you?!" I frantically look up and down Shrek's build, scanning for any sign of injury to my green friend. All I'm able to spot are sweat stains and dirt marks on his clothing though.
"Yeah, I saw him. He's probably still somewhere nearby, we should get going," Shrek responds in a serious tone, stretching the air around us thin. "I'm worried he'll find us again."
"Wait, Shrek," I pause momentarily. "Didn't you kill him? Are you 100% sure it was Herobrine you saw?"
"If anybody else in this world looks exactly like you but with white eyes, do tell, because that's what I saw." Shrek trails off and his voice nearly lowers to a whisper, "There's nobody else in this world anyway."
"Sorry, sorry, I'm just checking; earlier I swear I was hallucinating or something. This forest is starting to get to me. Do you think we could find the portal elsewhere?"
"Maybe, I think it moves around randomly. We might be able to find it almost anywhere."
"Okay, let's try to get out of this forest first," I say while wriggling out of Shrek's now loose grasp. "I'm sure we can find a way out of here soon, the forest can't go on forever." I spin around for a moment before settling on a direction, "Let's go this way." I lead us forward, this time making sure Shrek is walking next to me instead of behind, I can't let Herobrine hurt him.
After walking for awhile, the trees begin to lower in frequency and we eventually exit the forest. "Finally, took long enough," Shrek complains whilst stretching, his arms thrown up and back, lengthening his form. With an exhale and lowering of his arms, he looks around and pauses, "What."
"What?" I ask, averting my gaze slightly and praying he didn't notice me staring at him.
"What is that," Shrek points into the distance and I trace a line from the tip of his finger off into the distance; a village. "Do other people exist here?"
"Yes! a village! Shrek this is amazing! We need to go there, the villagers will have supplies and shelter for us. We can stay there for a little while we figure out what to do." I grab his free arm resting at his side and jog towards the town, pulling Shrek along behind me. We reach the outskirts of the village and I slow to a normal walking pace. I glance over at Shrek and notice he's looking around as if he's never seen a town, let alone houses before: his face, awestruck. I chuckle to myself and drop his hand, moving ahead of him marginally. I peer down the man-made trail of flattened grass leading into the center of the village and see something... someone, shit. "Shrek," I grab his hand abruptly and quickly guide the both of us into a house, nearly slamming the door behind us. "We can't stay here, we have to leave."
Chapter 15: Visitor
Chapter Text
- SHREK POV -
"Steve? Steve, what did you see?" I question him quickly. My thoughts begin to race, dreaming up a multitude of possibilities of what he could have seen. My heart sinks towards my stomach as the thought crosses my mind. Did he see Herobrine? My eyes dart around the room, scanning for any danger, before I whisper, "Steve, did you see Herobr-"
"What? No. No, I didn't see Herobrine," Steve interjects my question. "If I saw Herobrine, we'd already be out of the village," he says, reassuring me by touching my arm.
A flood of relief rushes through my body, "Okay, so, if you didn't see Herobrine, then what did you see?" I stare blankly at Steve, but he shifts his gaze to the ground as my eyes meet his. "Steve?"
"We just- we can't stay here, Shrek. We have to go, now preferably." He shuffles on his feet before turning for the door.
"Steve, wait-" I grab his hand and he glances over his shoulder towards me. "Steve, is something wrong? You seem really nervous."
"It's just- I-" Steve stammers out only a few words before the door to the house begins to make sound. Both of our heads spin to face the door in response. The door handle jiggles and I hear someone unlocking it, as well as a muffled voice from outside, "I could've sworn I left this unlocked..." The voice seems to be one of a woman's judging by the pitch. The lock of the handle clicks and the knob begins to turn. I notice I've nearly stopped breathing from the anticipation and my brain begins to realize the situation we're in, what will the house owner do when they see two random men in their home?
The knob finishes turning and the door swings open. A red haired woman, holding a key in her right hand and an iron pickaxe in her left, steps through the newly vacant frame. Immediately, her eyes lock with Steve's and her jaw goes slack, her eyes widening, "St-Steve?" The sudden shatter of silence brought me back to my thoughts. How does she know his name? "Steve, I- I thought you never wanted to see me again," the woman continued softly. She takes a few steps towards Steve, leaving the door wide open as she does so. Again? Do they have a history?!
"L-look, Alex," Steve begins to speak. Alex? Alex, Alex, have I heard that name before? "I- I best be going, my friend too, we didn't intend for this to happen." Steve turns to grab any part of me and lands on my torso. He grips my shirt and starts leading me towards the agape door. Alex! She's his ex! My heart drops towards my stomach, she's his ex. Steve and I are already halfway out the door as I realize this. Did he come here to see her? Suddenly my face and ears feel as if they're burning, in addition to feeling as if I have a cage restricting my lungs.
"Wait, Steve," Alex calls from behind the two of us, causing him to stop almost dead in his tracks. "You two look... well... not the best? Did you guys want any food, or something?" She offers shyly. I'd kill for something to eat right now. My thought is interrupted by my body whipping around seemingly on its own, and my mouth blurting "No, lady!" I stop moving and stare at Alex, whose face is a bit pale. Oh my god, I didn't mean to say that.
"O-oh," Alex averts her gaze to the wooden floor. "I didn't mean to upset you, just-" Her words are cut off by Steve butting in, "No, no, it's okay. Shrek it's fine. Yes, we'll gladly take some food, and then be on our way."
"Oh, okay!" Alex smiles at Steve, then me, though it seems less sincere than when she was looking at Steve. What does she think she's pulling? I bet she just wants to get back with Steve. Alex moves towards the back of her house, where the furnace is, and Steve guides me back inside from behind. I glance down at him, yet he seems to be completely fine with this. He can't seriously think this is okay, she's his ex for crying out loud! Steve pulls a chair towards himself and takes a seat in front of a table; he's sitting at the end, with only one chair to his left. I do the same, sitting down in the only chair next to his. After getting comfortable, I lean over and whisper to Steve, "Don't you think this is a bit weird? You know, considering how you know her."
"Shrek, it's fine. She's just trying to be nice," he whispers back to me, giving a small grin of reassurance after his sentence. I sigh and look towards Alex, she's making some food but I can't quite tell what it is. I study Alex with my eyes; she's wearing a green shirt with brown pants and grey knee-high boots. I notice she has a tattoo on the upper portion of her right arm, it appears to be a lady with snakes for hair. Weird, I think.
After Alex finishes making us food, she turns around to bring it to Steve and me. She sets down two plates, two forks, and two cooked pork chops on the table and says "Dig in!" I try to eat but I can barely focus with her watching us. Keep it together Shrek, she's probably just curious as to why we are covered in dirt and mud... "So, Steve..." Alex interrupts my thoughts, "We haven't seen each other in awhile."
"Yeah," he replies with food in his mouth.
"And you," she turns her head to look at me. "I've never met you before. What is your name?"
Despite my racing thoughts, I'm able to reply somewhat calmly to her, saying "Shrek, my name is Shrek."
"Well, Shrek, it's nice to meet you." Alex says.
- STEVE POV -
I can't believe I'm in the same room as her. My mind flashes back to when I walked into that god forsaken room with her in it. God, I can't stop thinking about it now. Why is she here, why did I have to walk into this house? "Steve," I hear Alex begin quietly, "Could we talk privately when you're done eating? I have some things I need to talk to you about." Oh no, oh god no. I look up at Alex, "Sure." Curse my people pleasing tendencies. I glance over at Shrek who is already staring at me. He looks worried, as if something might happen between me and her. I try to soften my facial expression to give Shrek some reassurance, and it seems to work a bit, as he turns away from me and continues to eat his food.
Soon enough, I finish eating and follow Alex as she leads me outside to talk to me. "Look, Steve-" she speaks before I cut her off. "Alex, if you're trying to convince me to get back with you, it's not gonna happen. What happened in the past happened, and I will never forgive you for breaking my heart the way you did."
"Steve, you don't understand." She says.
"I understand fully, you cheated on me with my brother, Alex! I can't just forgive you for that."
"Steve, that's not what happened. Your brother... he has some sort of powers."
"Yeah, I know that. We've been running from him for the past few days. But regardless, what are you even trying to say, Alex? That he had the power to seduce you and sleep with you?"
"No Steve, Herobrine... He..." Alex seems to be struggling to get her words out. "That night, Steve... Herobrine looked like you. I don't know what he did, but he looked exactly like you, like he had some sort of shape shifting powers. I thought it was you at first, which is why we were together in the first place, but then he transformed right before my eyes into himself. Steve, your brother, he... he raped me, Steve."
My jaw drops as I hear those horrible, horrible words exit Alex's mouth.
"I didn't want to do it, Steve," her voice wavers and her eyes become glossy. She sniffles, "I didn't want him to touch me, Steve."
I reach for one of her hands but she pulls away sharply, "Don't touch me." She says firmly. I apologize immediately, and finally start to realize what my brother did to Alex. My chest tenses and I feel my body fill with rage. Involuntarily, my hands clench into fists, and my jaw grinds against my top row of teeth. Herobrine. I will get back at you for this. You traumatized my first love, and I will never forgive you for that, I promise to myself.
Alex shifts side to side on her feet and glances around before saying, "Steve?" I look up at her, "Yes?"
"This is the first time I've asked this question to anyone since that night, but... could I have a hug?"
"Of course, Alex." I reply, moving forward to gently embrace her. She's shaking, but I pretend to not notice for her sake. "It's good to have you back, Steve," Alex whispers. After a few moments, we both back up. The sun is starting to set now, and I turn to grab the door handle, but Alex says something before I do. "Steve... do you forgive me?"
I turn back around and look at Alex softly, "Alex, you have nothing to be forgiven for. It wasn't your fault. I am so deeply sorry that I didn't listen to you the first time all those years ago. I was an asshole, truth be told. But you have nothing to be sorry for, and even if you did, I would have forgiven you already. I'm sorry if this sounds weird but, I love you Alex. You were a great experience for me and I hope we can be friends now that everything has been settled and explained." I smile at her and she smiles back. We head inside and Shrek is still sitting at the table, prodding at his leftover food.
He turns around to face us and greets me with a smile. "Hey Shrek," I smile back, "We've got some planning to do."
