Chapter Text
Jim started to notice hands after he got together with Spock. His boyfriend was a touch telepath - for him, holding hands was the equivalent of a passionate human kiss. After he spoke about this - it was when Jim accidentally held his hand in public and Spock immediately blushed violently - Jim began paying attention to the hands of other shipmates too. He was curious if hands really show that much of people's personality as Spock said. What he found was proving this fact clearly.
Bones' hands were the ones which were commonly referred as "doctor hands". They were quite big, with long, nervous and facile fingers. Little scars were all over them (Jim assumed they were scalpel cuts) but they were still well-groomed with short, neatly cut nails.
Scotty had a scarry hand too, it had a big burn on it which he suffered when he tried to repair the wiring on the bridge and accidentally caused a shortcut. It was a quite serious injury, but Scotty quickly recovered afterwards, as always when he was ill or hurt. Now only the white burn reminded of the accident. He had some bruises and cuts too, even fresh ones - these accompanied the Engineering work.
Sulu's hand was quite small but strong, and very quick. He could perform tasks with the speed of an illusionist. He took advantage of his mixed-handedness in freestyle fencing where he changed his hands - it was very confusing for his enemies. And he enjoyed that quite much.
Chekov had the second smallest hand on the bridge. His was the smallest little finger too. Sulu always found this really cute and couldn't stop teasing his Russian boyfriend about it. Chekov, of course, got really 'upset' because of this, but -surprise- he always forgave.
The smallest hand belonged to Nyota Uhura, but it was not to be mistaken as weak. Jim experienced its power on his face once when he tried to flirt with the Communications officer. He secretly admired them, though. Their skin was dark brown almost like a tree from an African forest, with long nails in the color of a pearl shell. They were beautiful by all means.
Finally, he examined his boyfriend's hand more closely than the others. Spock had strangely long fingers, which were really quick when performing measurements or basically just doing something which Jim called 'that scientific stuff'. Their colour was somewhat greenish with a yellow tint. They were moving significantly more than any other part of the First Officer's body and were indicating his emotional state clearly.
Whenever Spock was nervous or angry, his fingers always found a way to fiddle with something. However, when he was happy his fingers were moving too, but in a much more slow and calm fashion. It was almost unnoticeable but it was there. Jim secretly admired it very much. It was another amazing part of his lover.
