Chapter Text
“Be gentle ad’ika.” Buh Stitches said as they approached bah Kian’s room, “He went through a hard battle and is resting.”
“Okay.” He bounced as he skipped along beside his buh.
“Mouse is here to see you Captain.” Buh Stitches said in a soft voice as they entered the room.
“Bah.” He moved quickly to his bah and waved to him.
“Hello Mouse’ika.” Bah Kian smiled, “How are you today?”
“I’m a-okay, are you okay?” He asked, “Buh said you went through a battle and that it was a hard one.”
“I’m sore and tired but I’ll be okay.” Bah Kian replied, then looked to bah Reeves who was holding a small thing in a blanket.
“Mouse, this is Thea.” Bah Reeves moved to them and knelt down.
“Hi Thea, I’m Mouse.” He said quickly, she was so small and cute and when she looked at him he realized her eyes were like bah Kian’s! “You have a very pretty name, my buh said it means gift of God.”
“That it does.” Buh Stitches said with a smile.
“How’d you come up with the name?” He looked between his bahs, bah Reeves looked to bah Kian who sighed a little before smiling again.
“Well… it was my name before I became Kian.” His bah explained.
“Oh!” He bounced in surprise, he hadn’t known that!
“I know, surprising isn’t it?” He nodded quickly, then looked back to Thea.
“She’s almost as small as you were when we first met.” Buh Stitches’ hand appeared on his head, “You are going to be a great ba’vodu.”
“I hope so!” He replied happily, smiling to Thea, “I will help you be the best person you can be, like all my family help me.” He knew he was going to be the very best because he had a lot of great role models! “And when you’re big enough we can learn all the things we need to know about the Galaxy.” He knew he’d be bigger than her but that didn’t mean they couldn’t learn things!
“Thank you.” Bah Kian said, “Oh, while I have you here, I have something for you.”
“What?” He asked in confusion but went to his bah when he motioned for him to come closer.
“I heard that someone is celebrating something.” Bah Kian smiled warmly, patting the edge of the bed which Mouse climbed up on, “And since I’m unable to do anything more than bathroom waddles, I said we’d give it to you now.”
“Oh, you didn’t have to!” He said quickly as his bah handed him a small package.
“Course we did.” Bah Reeves said with a smile, “What kind of bavodu’e would we be if we didn’t get you something?” He blushed a little but smiled.
“We hope you like it.” Bah Kian said as Mouse opened the box which revealed a really pretty stone, it was red and glowing, “It’s called a Heart of Fire, they say it holds a little of the giver’s soul and memories, so we had all your bavodu’e and buir’e give a piece of themselves to it so you could carry all of us wherever you go in life.”
Mouse sniffled and hiccuped as he tried to wipe away his tears, “It contains all our fondest memories of you.” Buh Stitches explained, “So even if you can’t read it, you will always know we’re with you.”
“Thank you.” He hiccuped and took the small stone out of the box, it had a leather cord attached to it making it a necklace, “It’s warm.” He wiped his eyes.
“It will always be warm.” Bah Kian smiled gently, “It’s full of our warm thoughts and feelings.”
“Okay.” He smiled and carefully tied it around his neck, “I…” He was cut off by Thea crying.
“Oh dear, feeding time.” Bah Kian sighed a little laugh.
“Let’s give them some privacy, yeah?” Buh Stitches asked and he nodded before quickly wrapping his arms around bah Kian.
“Thank you.” He said again.
“No problem ma sareen.” Bah Kian replied and he waved to him as they made their way out of the room, “Bye.”
“Buh buh.” He waved.
“Let’s head home, I’m sure your new ba’buir will be very excited to bring you to the park.” Buh Stitches smiled down to him.
“Yeah!” He bounced and skipped along beside his buh, he loved hanging out with bah buh Khalifa, “My friends are confused about her being my bah buh but I said I have a lot of different family members!”
“Hopefully we get to meet your other ba’buir.” He nodded again, he really wanted to see bah buh Plo again, he hadn’t seen him in forever!
“I hope so but he’s super busy!” He replied as they made their way back home, his bah buh had other things to do in the Galaxy and Mouse wasn’t going to be upset about that because his bah buh was a super important person!
“That he is.” Buh Stitches chuckled as he opened the garden gate.
“Buh… why do I smell…?” He started asking as the front door opened but he was cut off by a group of people.
“Surprise!” They all said as the lights came on and he saw that his whole family was there! He let out an excited noise at the surprise because he didn’t think anyone had remembered!
“You remembered!” He said quickly.
“Of course we did vod’ika.” Bah Cane said with a big smile, “And someone really important is here to celebrate with us!”
“Bah buh!” He almost screamed when he caught his bah buh’s scent.
“Hello young one.” He ran straight to his bah buh and wrapped his arms around his legs, “I hear it’s your decanting day.”
“Yeah!” He replied happily, he was so happy!
“I do hope this will be a fun party?” His bah buh chuckled.
“Every intention to make it the best party ever sir.” Buh Sawbones chuckled, “I hope you like music.”
“I love music.”
“PARTY!”
