Return To Hopes Peak: Part 3 of 3

Chapter 6: Act 1: A Dinner To Die For. Never Look A Gift Bear in the Mouth (Motive Presentation)

Chapter Text

(The following morning)
(Wolfheart)
Ok, Monokuma said he had a gift for all of us; let's see what I got. If I had to guess, I'd say. It's in this box here.

(Opens Box)

I got a knife and what looks like a bottle of poison, more specifically Strike 9 Poison, interesting. Anyway, I did say we'd all meet in the cafeteria to discuss Monokuma's gift. I'll head there now.
(Dean)
Oh, your up also; perfect timing. Let's walk to the cafeteria together.

(Inside the cafeteria)

(Kyrex)
Ah, there they are; that's the last of the stragglers. Now we can get this meeting started.
(Orlando)
Anyway, it's better we clear the air and go around the circle and tell everyone what Monokumas gift was.
(Wolfheart)
About that, I have a feeling all our gifts have one thing in common: They can be used as a weapon in some way.
(Carl)
How are you so sure?
(Wolfheart)
Because my gift was a bottle of Strike 9 poison and a knife.
(Flynn)
I'll go; next, my gift was a microphone.
(Wolfheart)
But does it work? Did you check for hidden compartments?
(Flynn)
What happens when I push the button? (Flynn pushes the button on the mic) Oh shit, there's a hidden knife in here.

(Carl)
I was given a set of kitchen cutlery.
(Orlando)
I had a frying pan in my room.
(Dean)
I was given an axe.
(Dave)
I was given a crowbar.
(Torahiko)
I had an anchor chain.
(Juuichi)
I was given this wooden board.
(Kenji)
I was given a joy buzzer.
(Dom)
I have a spyglass; I suppose there's probably a hidden compartment inside. Aha! The outer half unscrews, and it's a hidden compartment with a blade inside.
(Cameron)
I got this Necronomicon.

(Wolfheart)
I fail to see how a book could be used as a weapon.
(Dean)
Is it an actual book or one of those fake books that have a section cut out of it?
(Cameron)
Now that you mention it, when I looked inside it, there was a knife hidden inside it.
(Wolfheart)
Ok, so far, my theory tracks. Walter, your up.
(Walter)
I fail to see how a compass could be used as a weapon
(Wolfheart)
You didn't attempt to open it up to look for hidden weapons? From what I've noticed, everyone who was given random commonplace objects have a hidden weapon.
(Walter)
Huh, imagine that; the compass is fake. I've got a ninja star inside it.
(William)
I have a gun, which is weird because I thought for sure I had mine on me when I came here; I guess Monokuma took my gun away from me only to re-gift it back to me later; talk about lazy.
(Volga)
I guess I'm up; next, I have no idea how Monokuma got a whole ass spear inside that tiny gift box.
(Wolfheart)
The spear can be separated into two parts, the shaft, and the tip.
(Dean)
Eyy, I see what you did there. Was that pun intentional?

(Wolfheart)
Real, mature. Anyway, Shoichi, you're up.
(Shoichi)
I was given a shot-put ball. Odd, I thought he'd give me a volleyball considering my talent.
(Kyrex)
I was given a dumbbell set. Nice of him to give me those; now I can keep up my gains.
(Grant)
I was given this upside-down horseshoe, which is odd because usually, these are supposed to bring good luck. And it's quite heavy, so I suppose it could be used as a weapon.
(Hiro)
I got this wrench, which I guess serves multiple purposes.
(Oscar)
All I got was this lame pen.
(Wolfheart)
That makes you the most dangerous, Oscar; that's no ordinary pen. You can use it as a knife, click the button,
(Oscar)
Oh shit, the pen was a knife this whole time.
(Wolfheart)
From what I gather, the gifts are designed to be used as weapons and correlate to our talents. Now all that's left is to wait for Monokuma to tell us what to do next.

*Ding Dong Bing Bong*
(Monokuma)
Ahem, everybody, please gather in the gym for a special announcement. (Everyone meets in the gym)

(Wolfheart)
Ok, Monokuma, spill the tea; why did you summon us? It's way too early to be handing out a motive. The game just began yesterday.
(Monokuma)
Caught me in 4K, huh? Ok, I admit It's a bit early, but for this particular motive, we have to start it early. I've infected all of you with the despair disease, which will take some time to manifest. I've triggered it to start after I dismiss you from here. Let me explain how it works; starting after this meeting, someone will randomly start acting opposite to their normal personality, and this trend will continue until either 1 of 2 things happens: someone kills, or everyone is "infected" once either condition is met, the motive will expire.

(Wolfheart)
So who's the lucky stiff?
(Monokuma)
Oh, you'll know who it is in about 5-4. Now!
(Dean)
No, Don't come any closer; you're all hideous!
(Wolfheart)
Ah, of course, the usually friendly and trusting Dean is now pushing us away from him.
(Monokuma)
Let's call it the "Distrust Disease." Oh, and just for today, This is a 2-for-1 special.

(Torahiko)
What is the point of all this? We'd be better off going to bed and sleeping all day.
(Monokuma)
And it appears Torahiko has come down with the "Lazy Disease."
(Wolfheart)
It makes sense Torahiko is super energetic and constantly working out.
(William)
Ok, We need to keep an eye on them and make sure they don't try anything.
(Wolfheart)
From what I gather, Dean's disease will make him more likely to kill someone out of paranoid fear. And Torahiko's disease will make him easy pickings for any would-be killers. I think I've figured out the pattern.
(Dave)
We should pay close attention to the next one to see if they exhibit any traits that make them more violent than usual.
(Wolfheart)
Let's explore the school for a bit. We still have a few hours to burn before nighttime.
