Chapter Text
“Ladies and Gentlemen, we're back and the fourth match is up and ready! On this side he’s the ultimate shield and sword combo of 1A, it's The Sturdy Hero: Red Riot!”
Ejiro walked onto the stage with a wide grin, he was looking forward to a good fight!
“And for his opponent, she dominated the cavalry battle and practically ruled the field, it's The Scale Hero: Rule!”
Yui calmly walked onto the stage, her ever blank stare fully present. If her idea worked out this fight would be over quickly.
“Same rules as last time, are both of you ready?” Midnight asked.
“Mm”
“Let’s do this!”
Midnight simply nodded and raised her whip. “Then let the fourth match…”
“BEGIN!”
Ejiro quickly hardened his entire body and sprinted forward. As he sprinted across the arena he couldn’t help but wonder why Kodai was placing her hands onto the ground.
Then it happened.
In a matter of seconds the ground he was running on was no longer there as he felt himself falling.
Looking forward he saw the entire arena had shrunk. Before he had the chance to even comment on it the arena enlarged again, smacking him directly into the wall.
He silently thanked his quirk for protecting him and quickly stood back up, only to falter when he heard Midnight’s voice.
“Red Riot is out of bounds! Rule wins!”
What?
Looking around more closely this time it finally registered that he was out of bounds the moment the arena shrunk. He had lost instantly.
“Looks like Rule dominates another battle! Man these matches are quick.”
🦋
Izuku took back everything he said about Iida being the biggest threat, he had completely forgotten that the only downside to Kodai’s quirk was simply the fact it didn’t work on living things, everything else was fair game.
For heaven sakes she just shrunk the entire arena!
He sighed as he watched as Bakugo’s and Yaoyorozu’s match also ended in seconds. Since Kodai and Kirishima’s match left no aftermath the next fight had continued on almost instantly.
Unfortunately the moment the match started Bakugo instantly let out any frustration he had in the matter of seconds. Poor Yaoyorozu never got the chance to actually create anything before Bakugo blew up the entire arena.
That simply left the next match.

“After two very short matches let’s get into a real fight! It’s a legacy showdown! On this side he put on a shocking display during the cavalry battle, bringing heat with that electricity, it’s The Surge Hero: Chargebolt!”
Denki jumped onto the stage as lightning sparked off his body.
“And his opponent is a challenger from Support, she’s gunning for her shot at the hero course, all the way from Class 1H it’s Mei-Dei!”
Mei launched herself into the air and landed on the stage with a wide grin.
Midnight raised her whip and addressed the two “Alright you two you know the rules already, so on my mark, let the sixth match…”
“BEGIN!”
Unlike the other matches neither of them moved instantly but instead started circling the arena as Denki spoke up. “What do you say to me and you go out after this? I’d be happy to treat you to a bite”
Mei gained a mischievous grin as she reached behind her back. “Sure, where to?”
Kaminari paused. “I don’t know…I honestly didn’t expect to get this far. I usually flirt with people to throw them off thei-WOAH!” He was cut off as he was forced to dodge to the side as a net sailed past him.
“Look alive, stun gun!” Mei said as she fired off her capture gun again.
He sidestepped the net and amped his quirk. Quickly rushing forward he got close to Mei and slammed his fist down.
Mei’s boots roared as she jumped high into the air, avoiding the wave of electricity that now covered where she was just standing.
Shooting one of her wire arrows into the floor, she pulled herself back to the ground just in time to avoid Kaminari jumping into the air and aiming a kick at her.
Taking advantage of Kaminai’s lack of mobility in the air, she quickly aimed her capture gun and fired off her last three nets.
Denki panicked slightly before amping up his quirk to the highest point again. While he had only done this once and during the cavalry battle at that, he couldn’t afford to get caught here.
Ignoring the pain once more, he crossed his arms as his sleeves teared themselves apart. “HEAT LIGHTNING: ARC!” He slashed his arms forwards as his quirk ripped through all three nets and lit up the sky.
“Talk about a light show! Looks like Chargebolt is going full throttle!”
The sensors on Mei’s hydraulic bracers activated as they flung her away from the lightning storm. “HEY! Be careful, I haven't made these babies shock resistant yet!”
She mentally berated herself for not including more offensive gear in her line up and reloaded her capture gun, firing all five nets at Kaminari.
Denki cut through the five nets with a kick and rolled to the ground. Six of his lightning rods were gone now and his quirk was starting to get to him, it’s now or never.
He dropped to the ground and slammed both his hands onto the floor. “Indiscriminate shock: ONE POINT FIVE MILLION VOLTS!”
Jumping into the air to avoid the wave of lightning, Mei quickly abandoned her hydraulic bracers as the sensory system started to overload.
In a quick motion she threw the smoking backpack towards a recovering Kaminari and let the explosion launch him away.
Kaminari felt himself roll across the arena and gave out a simple ‘whey’ mixed with a groan of pain.
“Chargebolt is out of bounds! Mei-Dei wins!”
Mei gave out a sigh of relief, though not how she expected she still managed to pull out a win.
Wait, how was she meant to beat that exploding pomeranian with only capture and evasion gear?
Shit.

“And his opponent is the brains behind our cavalry battle winner’s victory also gunning for the hero course he’s coming all the way from 1D, It’s Vintage!”
Minoru took a deep breath and prepared himself as he stepped onto the stage.
His fight had come quicker than he expected. NightHide or as he really knew him; Shinso had ended their fight just as expected, completely reliant in his quirk.
While he and Shinso didn’t see each other often due to them thankfully being in different classes, Shinso never failed to take the opportunity to point out how Minoru and his great powerful heroic quirk were kicked out of the hero course and how he freed up a seat for him.
It was frustrating.
So as much as he was looking forward to fighting Shinso, he needed to focus on his current match.
From what he saw from Real Steel their quirk would be troublesome, though still easy to immobilize.
He wasn’t going for immobilization though.
He needed to prove he was ready to join the hero course again, he couldn’t just stick Real Steel to the ground and call it a day, no he needed to prove he wasn’t just reliant on his quirk.
“The rules are the same as all the other matches, are both ready?” Midnight asked.
“Let’s get this over with, I’ll send ya back flying to Gen-Ed!” Tetsutetsu said while Mineta had settled for a simple ‘ready.”
“Then let the final match of the first first rounds…”
“BEGIN!”
Both boys were off the second the match started.
Minoru quickly met Real Steel in the center of the arena and ducked under his punch. Quickly grabbing the boy by his steel arm he gritted his teeth and threw him across the arena.
“OH, Looks like we’re in for a full on slug fest this time!”
Minoru braced himself as Real Steel recovered and attempted to tackle him to the floor. Digging his heels into the ground he shoved the metal boy off him and braced himself for pain as he slugged the silver boy across his steel jaw.
Tetsutetsu staggered backwards a bit. He wasn’t expecting Vintage to be able to punch that hard. Right as he went to follow up with a punch off his own the purple haired boy kicked him in the chest, sending him rolling.
Minoru winced in pain as he held his knuckles. It was a stupid idea to punch someone made of solid metal in the jaw but he wasn’t gonna win this match by playing safe.
As Tetsutetsu was getting up he rushed forward and rammed his shoulder into the boy to force him back down. Grabbing the boy by the leg he pushed past the pain in his arm and threw the boy closer to the edge before quickly running after him.
Just a little bit more and the win was his, he just needed to push past a bit more.
“It’s not very manly to hit someone when they’re down!” Tetsutetsu said as he rolled to his feet, instantly shooting back up to slug the boy across the jaw and knock him to the floor.
“But if that’s how you wanna play it, let me just stoop down to your level!” He yelled while delivering a swift kick to Mineta’s stomach.
Minoru rolled across the ground with a painful groan. He quickly got back on his feet to avoid Tetsutetsu’s punch and delivered one of his own before shouldering the boy again.
The moment he saw the boy's steel skin falter he didn’t hesitate for the second. He grabbed Tetsutetsu by the shoulders and headbutted him as hard as he could.
Not wasting any time for his own senses to clear up he grabbed his opponent by the leg again and threw him across the line with the rest of the strength he could muster.
“Real Steel is out of bounds! Vintage wins!”
He gave a sigh of relief as he stood there trying not to pass out. One down three more to go.
This was only the start of the tournament.
