You have a type!?

Summary:

Stan never really put two and two together when he found himself enamored with Wendy who was a carbon copy of his best friend but was a girl. When Kyle starts to date a new girl at school, Stan starts to realize his true feelings for the ginger haired boy, but will it be too late? Or did he never have a chance to begin with.

Notes:

I did my best to bring the characters to life through my story telling. I’ve had a hard time with run on sentences and tried my best not to do this. So be prepared to see tons of them. The characters have been aged up to high school level age. It’s mature mainly for the language, I tried my best to stick to canon best I could. May also be coming back every now and then to Tweek what I wrote. The first chapter I’m posting now but second chapter is almost done and will be coming out shortly after. I hope you style fans enjoy!

Chapter 1: The Boy In The Green Hat

Chapter Text

Green. That was a color Stan found himself thinking about often. If it wasn’t for Kyle’s emerald eyes, it was his favorite green cap that he used to cover up his luscious curls and red hair. Stan loved Kyle’s hair and didn’t understand the concept of why Kyle would hide it, which was arguably one of his best features. At least according to Stan.

It wasn’t until he had been waiting by the bus stop with Kenny that he had a sudden realization as the question hit his eardrums.

"Holy shit, dude! You totally have a type!" Kenny’s voice mumbled, covered by his oversized orange hoodie.

The question alone baffled the ravenette, since he had never really considered that a fact before. His mind raced, wondering what had even transpired to lead them to that conclusion. The conversations that had occurred thus far were just about school work, with a mention of the most recent episode of The Mandalorian. There had been no indication that the conversation would shift to tales of Stan’s whirlwind romance with Wendy. Nor was it hinted that he had the aforementioned type, as Kenny liked to put it. He was simply frozen in time, not knowing how to respond or answer the blatant excitement in Kenny’s voice.

Dude, are you good?" Kenny’s next response came out as he looked at him quizzically with brows furrowed in confusion.

"I…I guess… I never truly thought about it before." Stan managed to speak, his mouth feeling dry like cotton.

"You can’t possibly tell me; you’ve never thought of that before! Wendy is literally Kyle, but in different fonts." Kenny expressed himself, moving his arms animatedly in every direction. His smile was overflowing with excitement, much to Stan’s dismay.

"I never even mentioned Kyle or Wendy in this whole conversation. How did we even draw ourselves to this conclusion?" Stan couldn’t help the bewilderment showing on his face as he patiently waited for a response from Kenny.

Kenny, on the other hand, clicked his tongue before stepping into the bus. Stan had been so lost in thought and in the conversation that he never noticed the bus had arrived. Stan took a quick glance around and noticed that Kyle and Cartman were nowhere to be seen. They were not at the bus stop at all, which is the place they’d always meet up for school. His only thought process was, Where’s Kyle!?’.

Stan got on the bus and chose a seat in front of Kenny, who decided to sit next to Butters for the ride to school. He had hoped he could ask Kenny more about what he had meant that morning, but it rang in his ears. Stan’s eyes gravitated towards the window as he watched the scenery pass outside. Stan and Kenny were on their way to becoming adults, and yet they found their small group of friends without cars or licenses for 16-year-olds.

Stan failed his permit test twice and finally got his permit. However, getting his father to take the time to teach him was another story. Luckily, he was able to get his mother and sisters help with the practice he needed before he could officially be driving. Kenny didn’t seem to care about getting his license; he simply told Stan he didn’t care and wouldn’t mind walking everywhere if he had to. Stan knew it was because Kenny’s family was in poverty, and even if he got a license, he wouldn’t be able to afford a car payment. Not even with his two part-time jobs that have kept him quite busy the past school year.

Stan never thought to get a job like Kenny had, opting for having the time he has now to just enjoy being a kid, especially since he took some small side jobs along the lines of babysitting neighbors kids from time to time when he wasn’t busy playing his music at home. He's been trying to come up with a new song for a while but hasn’t really had the proper inspiration.

Stan’s life was simply school, eat, music, sleep, and repeat. He found his life to be rather dull, and he even found himself wondering if he should break it off with Wendy so that he wasn’t holding her back. Wendy had told him it wasn’t true, but he couldn’t exactly help the thoughts that would bombard his head.

Suddenly he felt the bus stop abruptly and saw a familiar head of curls outside the bus, near what looked to be... a car!

Stan got up out of his seat as soon as the doors opened, ignoring a frazzled Kenny who was trying to keep up with the boy. Stan couldn’t help himself; as soon as Kyle was in his pherifiral, he didn’t seem to care about anything else.

"Dude! You've got a car!" Stan bounded towards him with excitement. Kyle Broflovski was a straight A student, and as you can assume, getting his license was a cake walk for him.

"Hey dude! And yeah! My dad surprised me this morning with it. I was shocked, to say the least. If he gave it to me yesterday, I could have just picked you and Kenny up with it." Kyle laughed, and his hands gently swiped over the hood of the black sedan.

"I’m surprised your father didn’t say to heck with this and get you a hybrid car." Stan laughed, recalling the memory. He had been so afraid that Kyle was dead before the smuggler destroyed San Francisco. He was so happy that he was still alive and well.

"If he got me a hybrid, at least I’d know not to be smug about it." Kyle laughed again; this time Stan was frozen in place. Had Kyle's laugh always sounded so beautiful?

"Dude! Why'd you run off so suddenlysuddenly? We didn’t get to finish our conversation." Kenny came running behind Stan with his hand clasped tightly on his shoulder. If it wasn’t for that, Stan felt like he Would have floated away on cloud nine.

"Sorry… I saw Kyle had a new car and couldn’t help myself. " Stan grinned back at Kenny, who mocked his surprise as he carried a smug smile. Stan wanted to wipe it off his face.

"So... when do we hitch a ride in the morning rather than taking the bus? Because that shit is brutal." Kenny feigned dramatics as he threw his hand back in a betrayed fashion.

"Oh, he’s got jokes! Seriously though, I can start giving you guys a ride tomorrow, but Thursday I do have basketball practice. Those days you may have to take the bus home or walk." Kyle had a sheepish smile. He had worked so hard for years to play basketball. His love of the game was impressive. Stan loved playing as a kid for fun, but he could never imagine playing on a team. It just seemed tiring and took less time for him to work on his music. "Stan, question… but are you and Wendy ok?"

Kyle's next question stumped Stan. Why would he suddenly ask if we were okay? It seemed like an odd question for him to ask out of the blue.

"As far as I know, why?" Stan questioned her, his smile turning more into a frown at the mention of his girlfriend. He loved her truly, but sometimes he honestly didn’t know what he had done wrong to upset her.

"Nothing too major, but Wendy did ask me if I had heard from you recently. She seemed super concerned, dude. She said you barely respond to her messages, and she normally gets a thumbs up emote on her message rather than a response. I understand relationships can be rough, but why do I get paragraphs from you and you don’t do the same for your girlfriend?" Kyle was concerned about Stan’s relationship with Wendy. Stan’s heart ached slightly, and he secretly wondered if it did because Kyle was concerned for a reason Stan hoped it wasn’t.

"I’ve just known you forever, dude; it’s no big deal. I only have energy for one person anymore. So I simply chose my super best friend." Stan sighed. It wasn’t the best excuse, but Kyle seemed to buy it for now. Stan was not about to tell him that, since Kenny’s question this morning, he was questioning his sexual identity along with his feelings for him. Kenny smirked as he wrapped an arm around Stan’s shoulder to the best of his ability since he was slightly smaller than Stan.

"How about we head inside so Stan can reconcile with his lady, and Kyle and I will get our books for class?" Kenny suggested that Stan and Kyle both give each other a look before laughing.

"Since when did you care about academics?" Kyle couldn’t help the smile that appeared on his face as he chuckled.

"Since I heard a rumor about a new girl attending our school, You best believe if there is a new girl, I need to get in there first before anyone else." Kenny was dead serious, and maybe that’s why Stan and Kyle could hardly contain their laughter. Kenny was a playboy and was very open about it; he was a boob guy, so what could he say? He loved the ladies, and there would be the occasional dude he would mention as well. He primarily loved women, though.

Stan couldn’t help the sudden burst of envy that appeared in the pits of his gut as he remembered what Kenny had told him back at the bus stop that had been erased from his memory. Kenny’s eye sparkled as he commented on the people he had either slept with or found attractive. Suddenly he brought up Kyle and how if he knew for sure Kyle was into dudes, he would have no trouble putting it in his hot ass. Stan's stomach had pooled with anger at the statement, and he had no idea why at the time, but he did remember hitting Kenny pretty hard.

Stan quickly shook away those thoughts as he turned toward Kyle, who was beaming with excitement. Stan felt a heavy weight drop on his chest at the sight. When did it hurt to think Kyle might find someone?

"Dude! I heard, and I’m honestly stoked! I heard she’s gorgeous. I haven’t had much luck dating, but I’m honestly hyped to get to know the new girl." Kyle smiled, and a little piece of Stan died inside.

"I wonder what she’s like. Maybe I can take her to bone town." Kenny joked, wiggling his eyebrows, as the other two sputtered at the use of the words "bone town".

"Seriously, dude!? Bone town? That is just an awkward way to say sex." Stan spoke up as Kyle just nodded his head in agreement.

Kenny just laughed at his friends reactions without a care in the world. That was until they saw Mr. Eric Cartman walking over to them with the widest grin he could manage. Stan couldn’t help but wonder what the fat ass was up to too.

"Hello, khhhaell!" Eric spoke with smugness in his voice. Stan and Kenny exchanged looks with each other noticing how Cartman had decided to not greet either of them.

"The name is not Khael, it’s Kyle. What do you want, fat ass?" Kyle was exasperated as Cartman simply smiled.

"Of course, Kyle, and what makes you think I want something, you Jew?" Cartman clearly had an agenda. Stan couldn’t seem to pinpoint what it was, but the little green-eyed monster popped up again for him. Kenny and Stan have always known that Cartman had a small crush on their favorite ginger-haired friend. This little factor got obvious through the years, but what Stan didn’t understand was why he was feeling jealous at the thought of Cartman and Kyle. He knew that Kyle would refuse Cartman in every way. Kyle hated the guy with a passion. Cartman’s crush would always be one-sided, and the only one who was oblivious to it was the object of his affections himself.

"Fuck off!" Kyle grew accustomed to the fights he’d have with Cartman, but he didn’t find them any less irritating.

"I just noticed you got a new car, Kyle, and what better way to test it out than take a joy ride?" Cartman's grin was still plastered on his face. Everyone knew there was a catch, but they didn’t dare ask for more information.

"That’s a no. And definitely not with your fat ass. I don’t like you." The flicker in Cartman's eye as Kyle said those words showed slight hurt. Stan could only hope that he never felt something like a one-sided crush. The pain and rejection would crush his soul and heart. He would never recover from that.

"Fuck you, Kyle!" Cartman yelled as he flipped him the bird before departing the group once more. Since I taught high school, their group consisted of just the three of them most of the time. Cartman opts to spend time with his current girlfriend, Heidi. It was beyond Stan how she was still with him when it was obvious that he had a raging bonfire for Kyle. Heidi knew of the rumors but didn’t seem to mind as much as Stan thought she would. It was beyond him if she knew it wasn’t just a rumor.

"Dude needs to get a grip. His feelings are so obvious." Kenny whispered to Stan. Stan let out a hardy laugh as Kyle’s emerald eyes met ocean blue. The blush that crept up his neck was alarming as he shook those thoughts away. Stan’s thoughts went to Wendy as the group began to move towards the front doors of the school. Wendy was perfect in every way, and Stan did love her, but he was now beginning to wonder if she was a replacement for someone he knew he couldn’t have. He admitted that what Kenny said that morning made so much sense. He did have a type, and that type was anger-prone academic achievers.

Before the bell rang, Stan looked for Wendy but had no luck. He resolved to speak to her at lunch later on. As he and his other classmates took their usual seats in Mr. Garrison's homeroom class, he noticed the absence of his girlfriend and a blonde girl that was huddled near the doorway.

Mr. Garrison wasted no time in introducing the girl to the class. She had cascading blonde hair that flowed down to her waist, and her blue eyes were mesmerizing as she spoke with sheer confidence to introduce herself to the class. Stan racked his brain to pay attention, only picking up on her name, religion, and the fact that Kyle couldn’t take his eyes off her. The pool in the pit of Stan’s stomach grew larger as he saw that face. Kyle had that look for Heidi, Rebecca, and various others, but Stan could tell this look was different.

Stan cursed silently as blue met green and his world came crashing down.

Chapter Text

It had been a day. Only one singular day since the new girl joined their class. Stan was already having it rough since before class started the new girl who’s name was Lucy was instructed to sit next to Kyle. They immediately hit it off, talking about their mutual interests. Not to mention she was partially Jewish as well which Kyle had mentioned that his mother had always been fond of the idea of him eventually getting a Jewish girlfriend. Stan was hurting and he didn’t know why, the heavy weight he felt on his heart was just making him sink deeper into his own mind.

He began to wonder if Kyle and Lucy would begin to date and eventually stan would be more in the foreground of their relationship. Stan always made time for Kyle, sometimes choosing him over spending time with his current girlfriend Wendy. Wendy with whom he would still need to talk with, since she had been absent the day prior. Stan began to wonder why he would ditch his girlfriend to hang out with super best friend. It wasn’t exactly the normal thing to do when someone was in a relationship. Kenny’s words resurfaced in his head as stan thought about it some more. Stan never truly thought he was gay or anything of the sort. He had a crush on Wendy and loves Wendy, and he never truly started to think of Kyle as an option till Kenny brought it up at the bus stop yesterday.

Stan openly sighed as he let his mind wander, meanwhile checking out his face and hair to make sure he looked good before his ride got here. The promise of getting a ride from Kyle everyday made him smile and heart beat fasten. He blushed crimson at the thought behind why he might be happy at that notion. stan slapped his face slightly to knock himself out of the thoughts he was having regarding his super best friend. Stan also reasoned that today he should talk to Wendy.

“Stanley! Kyle’s here with Kenny! “ he heard his mother Sharon call from down the stairway. He took a deep breath in and out as he took one last look in the mirror before coming down.

“Thanks mom! I’ll see you later! “ Stan responded as he made his way over to Kyle and Kenny. His heart momentarily skipping a beat at the site of his super best friend. Stan was in denial and reasoned that this only happened because Kenny was in his head.

“Alright! Everyone ready to go?” Kyle turned between the two as they both nodded in. Agreement. The three of them wandered outside to Kyle black sedan, and took their respective seats. Stan automatically taking shot gun to be closer to his super best friend.

The blare of the speakers came on and Taylor swift was on the radio with her new song ‘anti-hero’. Stan wasn’t a super fan or anything, but he could admire her lyrical genius. Kenny began to bop his head to the beat as Kyle’s palms thrummed at the steering wheel as they made their way to school. Stan almost wished they could be frozen in time in this moment to just bask in each others company as long as possible.

“It’s me! Hi! I’m the problem it’s me!” Sang kenny and Kyle as they pointed at Stan. Stan almost seemed offended if not for the playful and enticing smirk that Kyle gave him. Stan swore he almost felt hopeful at the thought of the ginger haired boy flirting with him.

“At tea time, everybody agrees.” Kenny sang with delight as he pointed towards Kyle for the next lyric.

“I’ll stare directly at the sun but never in the mirror. It must be exhausting always rooting for the anti-hero!” Kyle exclaimed as he frantically wrapped a free arm around Stan’s shoulders bringing him flush to his side. Stan knew that this was normal for them, since they had always been this close. It, however; didn’t stop the flutter of the butterflies in his stomach and thrum of his heart beating.

They drove a bit further down, finally reaching their destination as they parked into the spot that Stan had seen Kyle park yesterday. Stan glanced around, already feeling weird that no one seemed to be at the school yet. It was almost unsettling.

“I don’t thing I’ve been to the school this early in my life.” Kenny commented as they remained sitting in the sedan for a few minutes.

“I’m still trying to get better at timing out when to leave, today was definitely too early.” Kyle winced as Kenny ruffled his curls from the back seat. Stan felt another twinge of jealousy forming in the pit of his stomach once more. Kenny’s stupid words ringing and echoing in his head.

“Well, dude. If it’s any constellation, at least now we can talk before school starts.” Stan for the first time since getting in the car spoke out. He was happy to converse with his best friend.

“Well, that is true. Speaking of talking though, the new girl is new around here and I was sort of wondering if it be ok if we picked her up on our way to school as well?” Kyle had asked the question, face red as can be as Kenny teased him from the back with side ways glances and laughs. Stan however just felt that pain again, not wanting the new girl to be close to Kyle for reasons Stan couldn’t explain.

“I don’t mind dude! But if you guys start doing indecent things, it be wrong of me not to ask to join.” Kenny laughed wiggling his eyebrows suggestively. Kyle didn’t hesitate to shove him back in his seat from the angle he was in the drivers seat.

“Dude! I definitely don’t want a three way.” Kyle’s face was red and Stan’s heart sank further. He couldn’t even speak.

“Le gasp! I thought we were besties. You’d deny me a three way with your hot ass and the sexy new girl?” Kenny dramatically fell to the back of the seat with both eyes closed. Once his head had his the back of the seat, he proceeded to open one eye as he gave Kyle a self-satisfied grin. Stan wanted to punch Kenny, and he was shocked by that realization.

“Stan! Help me out here?” Kyle was exasperated to say the least as he playfully hit Stan in the arm drawing Stan out of his thoughts. “Also stop talking about my ass.”

“He’s talking about your ass?” Stan glared at Kenny as Kenny just gave a knowing look.

“Dude, were you not privy to our conversation? You seem so out of it today.” Kyle gave Stan a sympathetic look. Stan at that moment didn’t want the sympathy. He just wanted Kenny to stop talking about Kyle’s ass.

“Who wouldn’t talk about that thing? I’d wear that thing as a hat and live there for all of eternity.” Kenny laughed as Kyle flushed even darker. Stan’s memory of that note that Bebe wrote somehow suppressed in his mind. He remembered everyone’s shock when he had to read it out loud to the class. Stan couldn’t deny Kyle had probably one of the nicest asses out of the entire school, but that didn’t mean he was gonna justify the way Kenny brazenly brought it up.

“how about we stop talking about my ass.” Kyle sighed as Kenny just couldn’t control his fit of giggles. He ended up laughing so hard that he died.

“Oh my god! They killed Kenny! Stan announced.

“You bastards!” Kyle answered back as they went on to talk about other topics now that Kenny had died once more and his body had also some how disappeared from the back.

“Do you think Kenny was right all those years ago?” Stan decided to ask.

“You mean about how he has the power to never die?” Kyle mentioned his brows scrunching up on his face in thought.

“Yeah! I mean I don’t remember any of the times he’s died before now and yet I almost feel like we’ve never lost him every-time.” Stan mentioned as Kyle nodded in agreement.

“It honestly could be true. After mint berry crunch, we kind of ignored Kenny about what he was saying. I don’t know if there is a way to find out the truth, but it seems plausible enough.” Kyle shrugged as he felt a tap on his shoulder. It was cartman looking smug again.

“What is it fatass?” Kyle cried out in frustration. The loss of Kenny already forgotten as he was being reborn again in the confines of his own home.

“I heard through the grapevine that you’re into the new girl.” Cartmans expression didn’t waver and it made Stan question his true intentions with the boy.

“So what if I am? What are you gonna do lard ass.” Stan laughed, the use of lard ass wasn’t new in Kyle’s vocabulary but Stan found it all the more amusing in this situation.

“What are you laughing at gaywad?” Cartmans attention now directed at Stan.

“I don’t know why you find using gaywad is insulting? Who cares if I was gay anyway plus I would never be truly gay since I like girls. I’d only be half gay.” Stan reasoned with cartman and caused kyle to laugh uncontrollably.

“Dude, that was the best thing I ever heard.” Kyle wrapped his arm around Stan’s shoulders again, bringing him to his body again. Stan could see the twist of anger receding from Eric Cartmans brows at the declaration.

“Ok enough of the affection you homos, I just came by to say that maybe the new girl likes someone else Khaelll. And maybe just maybe it’s someone you happen to know quite well.” Cartman joked not noticing the swish of blonde locks that popped up behind him. “The whore probably enjoys sucking him off in her spare time.”

Kyle and Stan gulped as they saw an angry blonde behind him. Her eyes darkened as her hand wrapped around Cartman’s arm before twisting him around to slam him hard into the ground. He sucked in a breath he didn’t know he was holding as the new girl glowered in his direction. Stan saw as Kyle’s eyes had a sudden twinkle to them. He somehow thought that if all he had to do was beat up cartman to impress him, than he’d need to fight cartman more often. Stan slapped his face once more at those thoughts and decided that he should probably take his leave to go find Wendy.

“Hey Kyle! I was wondering if you were free today after school? “ Stan wanted to gag as she saw the flustered look to her as she asked the question. Stan thought she couldn’t be more obvious with who she really liked and wondered what Cartman’s goal was with the way he openly bashed her without knowing her. He could only sum it up to jealousy, which he was having a similar feeling now. Stan desperately wanted to know why, he couldn’t possibly have a crush on Kyle as well, could he?

“Actually, stan and I had plans today after school, but I’m free Friday?” Kyle looked up at her with a hopeful glint in his eye as she smiled and put her hand gently on his arm as he was leaning out the cars window.

“It’s a date than! I’ll see you Friday, and dress nice!” Lucy called back as she began to walk away. Stan panicked. A date!? But not just any date. It was a date scheduled for Kyle and stan immediately found himself wondering why he felt like his heart was breaking. He was with wendy so it shouldn’t matter what Kyle and some girl do in their free time. Stan however knew it wasn’t just Kyle. It was what Kenny said at the bus stop that was making him confused. Stan decided he should talk to Kenny later on, momentarily forgetting that last night after school he had promised a day for Kyle and him to hang.

Stan knew that after the confusion he was feeling past two days, hanging with Kyle was a bad plan. Another part of him however didn’t want to cancel at the prospect of him going on a date with Lucy instead. He hated that feeling.

“Dude! Before we head in, what time should I expect you over tonight?” Kyle questioned in excitement. They decided to head over Kyle’s tonight since his brother Ike was supposed to be out with friends and his parents had a dinner reservation at casa Bonita in Denver. Apparently they had decided to take a trip and we’re going to be gone till Sunday. Kyle had the house to himself minus his brother and that panicked Stan more.

“Give me till seven? I wanted to talk to Kenny about something.” The death that morning of Kenny was already being forgotten as Kenny had once again risen from his death and was trudging back to school once more.

“You can always talk to me if you want Stan, we are super best friends aren’t we?” Kyle’s eyes glistened with hurt and Stan felt guilty about not being able to talk to his best friend about this. What was Stan suppose to say, hey hot stuff I might have a crush on you? Stan wasn’t even sure if it was a crush, it could just be admiration for a really good friend.

“Of course dude! But this is more Kenny’s speed. I promise that I will open up about it with you. Just not right now.” This seemed to get Kyle’s attention as he gave his super Best friend one last hug before exiting the vehicle. Stan had huffed in the scent of Kyle’s cologne that smelt of pine trees and the ocean. He had wished that he was being held for longer and inwardly slapped himself for wanting that when he had a girlfriend. Stan knew he needed to stop what ever this is.

Stan exited Kyle’s car as the car had beeped twice acknowledging Kyle had locked it. The two of them walked inside together side by side. Stand hand brushing Kyle’s slightly causing Stan to become overly self conscious of their relationship. As they walked down the halls they spotted Kenny who was at his locker looking disheveled.

“What happened to you. Dude!?” Stan exclaimed as Kenny gave him a look that it looks could kill Stan would be one foot in the grave.

“Ya know, the usual, just died laughing and you morons don’t even remember. “ kenny wasn’t surprised when Kyle and Stan looked at him with quizzical expressions.

“Dude, that’s a good joke, isn’t that right Stan?”

“Yeah the funniest joke ever.” Kenny however was unamused.

“Seriously, guys. I’m not joking. I’m going to class, I’ll see you guys in the afternoon when I calm down.” Kenny replied as he slammed his locker shut and walked away. Stan cringed at the loud noise as he noticed Kyle had wandered off to go speak to the new girl as they conversed at her locker. She had her hand perched on his arm and every time he made her laugh she would shove him playfully. She was clearly flirting with him and Stan didn’t like it, unsure why.

“Stan, we need to talk.” A feminine voice popped up beside him interrupting his train of thought.

“Hey Wendy. Yeah I think we do.” Stan complied as wendy led him somewhere less heavy on foot traffic. Lucy and Kyle were still in Stan’s pherifial vision and he hated that. He tried to get Wendy to move else where but she refused ready to discuss their current relationship issue.

“Listen, stan. I don’t think I’m being valued enough in our relationship. I’ve seen the way you text Kyle compared to me and it upsets me. All you’ve done is like my texts but never respond. I’ve always been afraid that I might be a substitute for someone else. I took yesterday off so I could reflect, and you’ve just been distant where I think I know what’s going on. Plus there was the whole chat pt thing where you used an actual ap just so you can send me messages that you never even paid attention too. I forgave you because I love you Stan but I know that I’m not who you want, at least not really.” Wendy dared to look up as she was speaking, heartbroken that Stan wasn’t even looking at her but directly at him. Wendy always knew that Stan harbored some form of feelings for his super best friend, but seeing it up close really stung. Stan did have a type after all and she was just a version of kyle but she could never be the real thing. Whether Stan realized his feelings were more than friendship was something else entirely. Wendy placed her hand ons tans chest as he focused on her as tears fell from her eyes. This was her first love, but she knew that if he was happier somewhere else, she’d let him go free.

“Wendy, I do value you. What do you mean!?” Wendy knew than that it was over. He didn’t acknowledge how much she had said and only picked up on the parts that he wanted to hear.

“Stan, I think we should break up.” Wendys words hit Stan and he felt his heart break into pieces.

“Wendy…wait…no, I love you.” Wendy smiled up at him with a gentle smile.

“No Stan…you don’t, at least not as much as you did. You did love me once but I always felt that I was a replacement for some misplaced feelings. I will always love you Stan, but we aren’t meant for each other. We can remain friends, and I will always be there for you but I will not stay with you if it means you lose out on being happy.” Wendy wrapped her arms around stand chest as stan pushed his nose into her hair and embraced her tightly.

Stan knew it was for the best, they had been going through a rough patch lately, but hearing it out loud really cemented everything for him. The thoughts nagging at his mind once again as he truly put into words what Wendy had said. Did he always love Kyle and choose Wendy simply because she was close enough to the real thing. He didn’t want that to be true.

Stan noticed Kyle staring at them, Lucy momentarily forgotten as she was rummaging through her locker. Stan willed him to look away so he wouldn’t see him so vulnerable. He hated that feeling. He felt sad but he also wanted to punch a wall. There was no in-between.

Wendy slowly let go of Stan as he wiped the tears from her eyes with his thumb. Stan normally felt so upset when Wendy and him broke up. He even went so far as to hang with the emo kids back in the day. Yet, at this very moment he just felt numb. The feeling wasn’t as unwelcome as he initially thought.

Wendy smiled up at Stan as she took his hand from where he has been wiping her tears away. Stan couldn’t help but give a warm smile back, both agreeing the breakup this time was mutual and that it would be permanent this time.

“I’m going to get to class now, I may just need some time to process this. You may not realize but I know you more than anyone else, right next to Kyle of course. I just wish you weren’t so oblivious to your own feelings. “ Wendy pouted as she yanked at her black hair.

“My feelings? What do you mean?” Stan ménage’s to question before she shook her head and turned around to walk away from him.

“ I’ll tell you later, once my heart has some time to heal.” Wendy responded and with a click of her heels she was gone.

“Yo dude, everything ok?” Kyle appeared beside Stan his expression shifting into concern.

“Yeah, I’m fine. Wendy and I just broke up.”Kyle was about to speak again before Stan gestured him to be quiet. “It’s ok, this time it was mutual.”

Kyle put a reassuring hand on his best friends shoulder as he began to also make his trek to class. Stan couldn’t help but notice how Lucy waited for him and how Kyle wrapped his arm around her waist. Stan wondered how he could possibly have feelings for his best friend now.

“Hey stannnn, I see your boyfriend is more interested in pussy than you.” Stan sighed as cartman came up next to him as if to mock him.

“Dude, i don’t know why you bother. You do realize that you also are out of the running.right!?” Cartman sputtered as if he wasn’t ready to admit that he had feelings for another guy. Internalized homophobia at its finest.

“ I’m not gay for kael! Understand me no gay.” Cartman pointed at himself as he stormed away. Stan smiled about his small victory in pissing cartman off. The knowledge of cartman liking Kyle was not a shock to anyone involved. After all, pick on the ones you like the most right!?

Classes flashed by in no time, Stan being distracted in majority due to the pda that Kyle and Lucy displayed. He had never known Kyle to be so affectionate with any of his previous girlfriends through the years. Did Lucy somehow bring out a different side to his Best friend that he himself as never seen.

The lunch bell rang and Stan almost dreaded sitting next to his best friend. He already knew lucy would be in attendance and he refused to get to know this girl. He simply didn’t want to know the girl who had single handedly won over Kyle’s heart. Stan knew it wasn’t Lucy’s fault that he just realized his feelings for Kyle but he still didn’t have to like her. A certain saving Jane song came to mind when he thought of the busty blonde.

Stan sat down at the lunch table, luckily no one else was here yet. It gave him some time to prepare himself mentally for the hellstorm he was about to go through. He had to deal with envious feelings at Kyle and Lucy being together. Along with cartman stewing in his own jealousy but while shouting profanities at this girl who knocked him out this morning.

Kenny was the first one to take his seat across from Stan. A sly girl was plastered on his face as he tapped the table to get Stan’s attention.

“How’s it going, lover boy? “ Stan just knew by Kenny’s tone that he already knew what was going on with Stan. Stan just didn’t want to bring it up till after school.

“Fine. Listen can we talk after school, I have some things I need to talk to you about.” Stan whispered as Kenny simply nodded.

“I’m surprised you didn’t want to talk to Kyle about this.” Kenny murmured as Stan poked at his food with his fork.

“I can’t talk to him when it’s about him.” Kenny’s eyes widened, ready to say something else before the rest of their usual group all sat around them, carelessly dropping there lunch trays on the table.

“Hey Stan! So this is officially Lucy. You both didn’t get a chance to talk much earlier. “ Stan acknowledged Kyle for the first time as he gave him a halfhearted smile.

“It’s nice to meet you Stanley! Kyle has told me so much about you. “ Lucy smiled. Stan hated how much he wanted to punch that smile off her face.

“Nice to meet you.” Stan was struggling to get the words out as everyone who was at the table turned to stare at the newcomer.

“Will you be staying with us every lunch than?” A boy by the name of Clyde questioned.

“Only if that’s ok? I don’t want to step on any toes. I’m just new here and we’ll since Kyle and I are going on our first date Friday, I wanted to get to know his friends.” Lucy mentioned as she smiled up at Kyle, placed a hand on top of his for all to see. Craig gagged as Tweek was freaking out next to him.

“This is too much straight for my gay heart.” Craig commented as he got up from the table to walk away. Craig and his gang rarely sat with their group since the Peru incident. To be fair it wasn’t entirely their fault, at least that’s what Stan always told himself.

Craig was one of the tallest of there crew, with kenny being a close second and Kyle being only an inch above Stan. Stan had to admit Tweek was a lucky guy to land Craig. Craig’s personality not so much, but as far as looks went, Stan could admit the boy was good looking. The girls original list proved it when he was voted the cutest of the class. Stan knew if he had any say he’d put Kyle at the top of any list.

“Craig, if it helps I’m bisexual.” Lucy commented as she brought Craig’s attention back to her.

“Well, alright.” Craig murmured as he flipped her off like he often did with most people. He sat himself back down as he went for tweets hand to hold. Tweek smiled, albeit twitching as he did.

“So what you’re not fully into kael?” Cartman expressed. He had been unusually quiet today. Stan wondered if his words got to him.

“ I can assure you I’m very interested in kyle. I just can also admire when a girl is hot. That Bebe girl for example is smoking.” Lucy grinned as cartman gagged earning a glare from kyle.

“Bro don’t even think about my girlfriend like that.” Clyde said as Lucy waved her hands in front of her.

“Sorry, I truly meant no harm. I was just trying to make a point. Clyde you are a very lucky guy.” Lucy commended which boosted Clyde’s ego by ten fold.

“Don’t boost this morons ego more than it already is.” Craig laughed as Clyde looked at him in shock.

“My ego can not be boosted anymore than it is since I am the cutest guy in school.” Clyde blew a raspberry at him and he continued to enjoy his lunch.

“Well I can’t sit here any longer with you homos. Screw you guys I’m going home.” Cartman commented as he got up and walked straight out the cafeteria doors.

“Is he always like that? “ Lucy questioned as Kyle just nodded. Stan noticed he had been unusually quiet the whole lunch period. He planned to ask him about it later on.

“So Lucy, what drew you to our precious Kyle? Was it his hair, his eyes or his hot ass?” Stan wanted to punch Kenny for brining up Kyle’s ass again. He swore the dude had an obsession with it.

“Kenny! What the hell!?” Kyle shouted with his fists clenched. His face already getting red. Lucy placed her hands over his which seemed to calm him down right away. Stan had to admit, she was great at calming the fiery red head down.

“I’d have to say his award winning personality, but his hot ass is definitely a bonus.” Lucy complemented with a wink as she leaned further into Kyle’s personal bubble. Stan wanted to hit her but he couldn’t bring himself to hate her. She had been nothing but nice to all their friends. Stan wanted so badly to hate her but he couldn’t. His best friend was happy and he simply missed his chance.

“You speak to my bisexual heart, bisexuals unite over one goal. Kyle’s ass is the holy ground and this bi has won the war.” Kenny acted so dramatic as he gestured over to the blonde whom laughed at his shenanigans.

“Kyle, I really love your friends. Don’t ever lose them.” Lucy stated in a serious tone as she began to converse sometime with Kenny. Them bonding over their shared sexual identity.

“So guys, my birthday is coming up and I wanted to throw this huge bash at my place this Saturday if anyone was free. My parents won’t be home, there will be no supervision. Also alcohol and maybe we can play some party games.” Toilken mentioned as everyone’s attention was draw to him. Stan can’t believe he had misunderstood his friend name meaning.

“Dude! Yes, I need to let lose for sure. Best believe we playing all the normal games like truth or dare, seven minutes in heaven, and maybe even some spin the bottle. “ Kenny wiggled his brows suggestively as everyone gave a laugh.

“We are definitely inviting everyone, we need a good boy to girl ratio for the party.” Clyde mentioned.

“The games sound dumb. A lot of us are in relationships. What if we get sent in there with someone else.” Craig mentioned in irritation.

“Too much pressure…gah!” Tweek exclaimed as Craig reassured him with some soothing motions on his hand.

“That’s why we will enact a rule. So whom ever refuses a dare or to go into closet with someone will have a penalty game but this way we can respect the boundaries of those with relationships.” Clyde suggested as everyone seemed to agree that would be fair.

“After school today, I’ll start getting things set up than. I’ll be passing along invites on Friday. I rather cartman not be there. I’m afraid of what he might try to do.” Tolkien without saying more glanced at Kyle. Everyone knew cartman harbored feelings for the ginger haired Jew. Everyone except for Kyle. Stan already knew that if cartman came he would try to get into the closet or enact some date where it would end with Kyle and him in a compromising situation.

Cartman wanted Kyle, they all knew this. They just didn’t know to what extent his crush had gone. Kyle hated his guts with a passion so Stan would do anything to protect Kyle and keep cartman away at all costs.

The bell rang ending the time for lunch to end. Everyone left the table and went to their respective classes. The pda continued from there but at least when Stan was finally in art class he could concentrate on something else.

The final bell rang for the day as everyone gathered their stuff to walk out the doors. Stan meeting at Kyle’s black sedan with only Kenny waiting.

“Hey, Kenny. So after Kyle drops me off did we just want to have our conversation at my place?” Stan questioned before Kyle had the chance to get there.

“Sure! That sounds good. I know we didn’t get to finish talking at lunch. I just know I need to know more about what’s going on.” Stan knew kenny was able to immediately tell what was wrong the moment he saw him. Kenny had a way of just know what the wrong or right things to say was.

They were about to talk some more before Kyle came over, hand in hand with Lucy. Lucy seemed super into Kyle and stan didn’t seem to understand how quickly there relationship was going. Lucy even leaned up and kissed him on the cheek before walking away. Stan didn’t expect Lucy to wander away from the group after that display. Stan had thought Lucy would have needed a ride.

“Lucy isn’t coming?” Stan couldn’t help but ask.

“Oh, no, she has tennis practice tonight. She just joined the tennis team. She’s honestly great guys. I hope you guys will hit it off more. It seems like kenny and her did most of the talking today.” Kyle laughed and stan looked at him quizzically. He didn’t laugh like this today in school.

“I could say the same for you. You were uncharacteristically quiet today. “ Stan commented.

“ I was honestly nervous. Lucy and I have only really been seeing each other for a day, and I just wanted everyone to like her. You guys will be seeing way more of her as it is.” Kyle ran a hand through his hair and his normal green cap had precariously fallen off of his head. Stan didn’t waste time in picking the hay up off the ground as he felt frozen in time as he was mesmerized by his best friend. Kyle rarely went without wearing his hat, but when he did he was the most beautiful man alive. At least according to Stan anyway. Stan wished that Kyle would always go hatless, but a part of him also didn’t want other people to realize how truly attractive his super best friend was.

“Don’t be nervous dude! She was great, I may have found my new best friend. You best believe we will most likely talk about how attractive you are behind closed doors, Kyle. “ Kenny laughed as Kyle flushed crimson. Stan didn’t understand why suddenly Kenny felt the need to comment on Kyle’s looks. It also didn’t help that Kenny kept giving him a look saying ‘I know all of your secrets.’

“Dude! What is up with you today. You’ve never said this much about my looks before.” Kyle accused as they piled into his car.

“Let’s just say, I have my reasons.” Kenny looked between Kyle and Stan, Kyle letting out a sigh as he turned on the ignition. The rev of the engine drowned out Stan’s thoughts as they left the school grounds.

Chapter Text

A song came on the radio as they enjoyed the drive back home. A classic song came on by cascada. Needless to say, Kyle and Kenny as they did prior were jamming out to the song. Stan didn’t understand how the song was as enjoyable as Kenny and Kyle made it out to be. Stan noted to thank his mind for that. Ever since he was younger, he suffered with mental health. The one time they had misdiagnosed him with Asperger’s , and he had been dealing with it but didn’t enjoy all the things he use too. Now, deal with his clinical diagnosis of depression was rough on Stan but he managed daily as long as he remembered to go to his therapy appointments and take his meds. That was the one thing they managed to diagnose right.

“Every time we kiss, I swear I could fly!” Kyle and Kenny sung in Unison which brought Stan’s attention back to them.

“You guys are idiots.” Stan commented fighting the grin slowly slipping on to his face.

“But we are your idiots.” Kenny declared ruffling Stan’s hair from the back seat. Stan had forgone his usual cap today and decided it be best to start wearing it again tomorrow. He felt like a child when Kenny did that.

“Kenny isn’t wrong there, but seriously dude!? How can you not love this song?” Kyle exclaimed as the song slowly started to end, switching over to another track which was a little more laid back.

“Dude, you know how I feel about certain music.” Stan commented remembering how he found everything to be shitty back in the day. Therapy and the meds have helped slightly with his feelings regarding music etc. again.

“I know, but doesn’t mean that I’m not going to talk about it.” Kyle grumbled as Stan sort of felt guilty for way he responded. He was afraid he came off as tired of his best friend when he simply just meant that he didn’t like certain songs like he use to.

“I’m sorry man, I probably should have been a little bit more tactful in how I responded.” Stan lowered his gaze staring down as he twiddled his thumbs.

“Don’t apologize, you did nothing wrong. You know we love you man, but I’m still going to feel bad for not being there for you back than.” Kyle replied. Stan never knew that Kyle felt remorse for not being there for him when he was going through his depression. He had gotten a custom to the taste of alcohol in only the fourth grade. Stan had gone down such a dark path at the time, that he didn’t care that Kyle wasn’t there for that part of his life.

“You’re here now.” It was three simple words, but Kenny felt like he was a third wheel as Stan and Kyle shared this moment. To Stan it was like they were the only two people in the world.

“Yeah, you’re right! And I’m never leaving again.” That declaration made Stan skeptical. Lucy was now in the picture meaning Kyle would most likely spend most nights with his girlfriend.

“I don’t know about that, you’ll probably want to spend time with your freakishly strong girlfriend.” Stan smiled softly, trying to hide the pain in his voice.

“Oh! We aren’t girlfriend and boyfriend. At least not yet. And she is a bit stronger than most girls. She apparently has been doing self defense classes since she was young.” Kyle mentioned while Stan and Kenny gave each other a look.

“What do you mean you’re not girlfriend and boyfriend yet!? You and her are already so lovey dovey. You guys held hands and you out your arm around her waist for gods sake!” Kenny exclaimed as he pulled at his hair, frantically pushing his hoodie off his head exposing his messy blonde hair.

“We never discussed the actual terms yet. We are going on our first date Friday so we might be putting labels on it by then. Right now, we are just enjoying some harmless flirting.” Kyle explained, as he put his car in park. Stan didn’t even realize they were already back at Kyle’s place.

“Harmless flirting my ass, y’all were practically eye fucking and groping each other.” Kenny yelled as Kyle’s face turned as red as a tomato.

“Ok…maybe not so harmless, but she is the first girl who has expressed this kind of interest in me before. I know it’s dumb but ever since the list back when we were young, I’ve always been so insecure in my appearance. I know the list was not the final list but a part of me wonders what if the fake list was just telling me what I already know.” Kyle sighed as he took the keys out of the ignition.

“Dude!? Are you serious? You are like the most gorgeous guy to ever exist. Have you seen your eyes, you could practically get lost in them.” Stan couldn’t help his outburst or the nausea that crept in as he had gotten up close and personal to Kyle’s space.

“Uh…thanks dude?” Kyle looked away scratching the side of his cheek.

“Stan’s not wrong though dude, you got to exert more confidence. Besides Lucy and I agreed at lunch that you were hot. So own that shit.” Kenny put a hand on Kyle’s shoulder as he stepped out of the vehicle. Stan and Kyle following soon after.

“So Stan I’ll see ya after your conversation with Kenny?” Kyle asked as Stan simply nodded, afraid to talk since he was ready to spew his guts out.

Kyle walked away and entered his house with a small wave to Kenny and Stan as they made their way next door to enter Stan’s house. Stan immediately ran to the bathroom as soon as he entered. Throwing up all the contents of his stomach, while Kenny made his way upstairs after saying hello to Mrs.Marsh and Shelly. Kenny quickly opened the door to Stan’s bedroom before flopping onto the bed. He only moved his body up once he heard door click open and shut.

“So lover boy, we talking about Kyle?” Kenny grinned as Stan looked ready to puke again. It took everything in Stan to calm down his nausea.

“This is all your fault.” Stan flopped down on the bed beside Kenny as Kenny patted his back in comfort.

“All I said was that you had a type, I didn’t think it would affect you this much.” Kenny sighed as Stan glared at him.

“I never would have even realized that I might have feelings for him till to you brought up the fact that Wendy and him were the same people.” Stan groaned as he hid his face in his hands.

“Might!? I think we are past might. You freaking threw up over the fact that y’all got a bit to close and personal. I don’t know about you but that sounds like you might have deeper feelings for him than you yourself realizes.” Kenny stood up pacing turning around to give Stan an exasperated look.

“Dude, I know don’t remind me! I didn’t want this to happen. I’m already having a shitty day. I had to watch Lucy and him being flirty all day. Wendy broke up with me, luckily it was mutual but still. Plus I’ve been getting jealous over stupid shit. Speaking of please stop commenting on his ass. It has literally been making me want to punch you in the face.” Stan glared at Kenny who scratched the back of his head sheepishly.

“Honestly he does though but I was just doing that to test the waters with you. I kind of noticed how you acted yesterday and wanted to put my theory to the test. No promises that I won’t bring it up though. I’m a boob guy but I can still admire a perky ass, and let me tell you Kyle’s is by far the best ass in the school,” Kenny walked back over to sit next to Stan on the bed shielding his face from the possible onslaught he’d face from what he said. “If it doesn’t work out for you two, do you might if I shoot my shot.”

“Kenny, you are literally unbelievable.” Stan groaned, blushing slightly at his sudden arousal from talking about Kyle’s body.

“Yet, I’m the one you chose to unpack all your raging emotions on. I have to say I’m flattered.” Silence took over for a moment as Stan took deep breaths to regather his thoughts. Suddenly Stan stood up alarms going off in his head. No…no no no no. Stan was supposed to meet Kyle after his talk with Kenny. Kyle the boy he literally was just throwing up over, he had no idea how the hell he was going to avoid getting nauseous without giving himself away.

“Kenny, what the fuck do I do? I’m suppose to meet Kyle after we are done talking. How the fuck am I supposed handle that. We are gonna be so close to each other, I don’t know if my body can handle that.” Stan started to hyperventilate. He was a custom to having panic attacks but never in his life had he had one in front of a friend.

“Dude, woah, take some deep breaths ok. I’m here for you.” Kenny wrapped his arms around Stan as he tried the breathing excercise she was instructed to do. He hasn’t had an attack in quite some time, he must have stressed himself out to the point of having one.

An hour or so passed as Stan was finally coming down from his attack and starting to feel better. He read the time on the clock that said six pm. He took a deep breath out as he felt a buzzing in his front pocket, pulling his cellar device out.

From: Kyle SBF
To: Stan

Hey dude! We still on for games?

Stan read the message meticulously over and over again. Trying to find out what he should say, he couldn’t avoid his best friend because of a silly crush. Kenny turned to look at him briefly as he sighed.

“Dude, it’ll be ok. I’d just tell him that you lost track of time because you have a bit of a stomach bug. That way he won’t get suspicious if you blow chunks.” Kenny was quick to the point as Stan laughed at just how silly he had been to worry about something so minor. He always was more sensitive than the other kids. He even chose to be a goth when Wendy broke up with him the first time.

“Kenny, thank you. You have no idea how much it meant to me that you were here for me when I needed you. You are seriously a good friend.” Kenny blew him a raspberry.

“Don’t get use to it! I’m still the fun loving kenny everyone loves. Besides I really want to see some ginger and black haired babies.” Stan sputtered as he hit Kenny on the shoulder. Kenny who was so into laughing that he didn’t notice the sharp pain that Stan caused with his punch.

“Guys can’t get pregnant. Besides the fact that I don’t really want to raise little demon spawns. Dealing with my dad is enough, he is an adult child.” Kenny smiled as he stretched his arms before getting up off the bed.

“True. Anyway, go head over. It might make you feel better after well ya know…” Kenny trailed off but Stan knew Kenny was referring to his attack. Stan normally after having an attack would be out of commission the rest of the night, luckily today was a minor one.

“Stanley!” Stan heard his mother call. He shot up off the bed as Kenny followed so that he could leave and head home.

“Yeah mom!?” Stan questioned as Kenny and him made their way down the stairs.

“Kyle is here.” His mom replied as Stan blushed and had tried to crawl back up the stairs as Kenny just motioned him forward.

“Hey dude!? Sorry to barge in like this, but I was worried. You normally answer right away, but you didn’t.” Kyle has been doing this for years since Stan’s depression started. Any sign or indication that Stan might be upset in anyway and Kyle would be at his door with ice cream, movies and some blankets. Kyle always knew what to say to make him feel better.

“Sorry dude, I had a small panic attack. It’s nothing major, I’m ok. It was luckily a more mild one.” Stan replied as Stan’s mom dropped a plate on the kitchen floor.

“My poor baby. You’re having panic attacks again?” Sharon Marsh questioned as she stepped forward to console her son.

“I haven’t had one in like seven years. This was just a mild one, I just ended up stressing myself out a bit to the point of triggering one. It’s really not a huge deal. Kenny was there to help me through it. “ Kyle frowned and it made Stan wonder if he had said something wrong.

“I’m…glad Kenny was there to get through it than. Just if it ever happens again, I wanna be there for you.” Kyle’s frown quickly flipped, but Stan could tell it was a fake smile. Hope welled in Stan’s heart at the thought of Kyle being jealous that Kenny had been the one to comfort him in his time of need.

“Well, when you are with your therapist tomorrow you better bring this up to him. You were doing so good and I just want to make sure everything is ok sweetie.” His mom hugged her son briefly before turning to Kyle. “Kyle, if you would like, you can stay for dinner since your parents are gone for the week.”

“I appreciate it Mrs.Marsh but I promised mom I’d eat all the leftovers she left for us. You know how my mom can be.” Kyle laughed as Sharon nodded in response.

“Yes, Sheila can be quite headstrong. Kind of like you.” She teased as Kyle grunted crossing his arms.

“Mom, I’m going to head over to Kyle’s for a bit. Can you place my dinner in the fridge? I’m not very hungry at the moment.” Sharon pressed a calm to Stan’s forehead to check for a fever. Stan loved his mom but sometimes she could be a bit overprotective and at times overbearing.

“Are you sure, you shouldn’t skip meals Stanley.” Stan smiled weakly at his mom.

“Yeah I’m sure, my stomach has been a bit nauseous today. I couldn’t really keep it down anyway.”

“Are you sure you should be going over a friends house if you are not feeling well?” Sharon was not backing down with the third degree she had been giving her son.

“Yes mom, I think I’ll be ok. Unless Kyle is uncomfortable with me being near him.” Stan replied as they turned to look at Kyle.

“Dude, you know I don’t care. If you had an attack today maybe you should take it easy though…” he trailed off. Stan loved all his friends and his parents, but sometimes he wishes they wouldn’t treat him like he was so fragile. Like he could break at any moment. He hated that.

“Dude, I’m perfectly fine, I’ve calmed down a lot. Besides if I do have another, you always know what to do.” Stan commented remarking on how many times Kyle had been there for him through each of his attacks he had while he was younger. They were in rarity now that he was older, but he did was happy to have a best friend who always managed to calm him down when he had them. Kyle truly deserved the world in Stan’s opinion.

“If you’re sure, maybe if you want we can do a sleepover? It’s been kind of a while.” Kyle commented as Stan nodded in agreement, trying to hide how red his face was from the thought of sharing a bed with Kyle.

“Awesome! Pack a small bag for clothes for tomorrow, and I’ll go home and get the air mattress ready. Unless you wanted to share a bed. I know when we were younger, after you had an attack you’d want to share the bed cause it made you feel better.” Kyle turned towards Stan expectantly.

“Oh, the air mattress would be fine tonight. I’ll let you know if that changes.” Stan commented. Both momentarily forgetting that Kenny was still there just sitting beside Shelly watching them.

“Gay.” Kenny whispered to Shelly whom giggled quietly.

“Super gay.” Shelly laughed as she whispered that back to him.

“Alright, I’ll see ya in a minute. And Kenny go home!” Stan laughed as he began to walk upstairs to grab his stuff.

“I’m leaving geeze! “ Kenny sighed as he flipped Stan off before exiting the doorway to head home.

“I’ll see you soon!” Kyle called up as he began to walk out the door, hearing a buzz in his pocket. Kyle exited the door and checked out his texts.

From: Lucy <3
To: Kyle

I need you.

Kyle stared at the message for a few moments before dialing her number and waiting for her to pick up. Lucy did, her haggard breathing alarming him.

“Woah, Lucy are you ok?” Kyle was worried as Lucy struggled to catch her breath on the other end.

“Sorry I’m just getting over a panic attack. I had it right on the court Kyle. I’m so embarrassed. I’m even more angry at myself for telling you this. I’m probably ruining your night. Ah…never mind it’s stupid, go enjoy your night.” Lucy cried as Kyle heard shuffling on the other line as to hang up.

“No, don’t hang up. You could never ruin my night. Besides just the fact you called me over anyone else. I don’t know it just makes me feel needed.” Kyle commented as he swore he heard Lucy laugh.

“ I appreciate it. I just know you were looking forward to spending time with Stan.” Lucy mentioned as he heard her take some deep breaths to try and calm herself down more. She was struggling in between her words as she forced them out with each breath.

“I know. I still will be but I don’t want to get off the phone with you till I know you’re ok.” Kyle said as Lucy smiled on the other end of the phone line.

“Stan sure is a lucky guy to have you. I wish I had a best friend as caring as you are to him. Maybe once I get to know more of this class. I think they like me so far but I’m just so scared that they all secretly hate me or that I said something incredibly embarrassing. I’m afraid they’ll dislike me.” Lucy’s breathing was slowly getting back to normal and more steady as she still struggled to speak.

“They all love you. I know Kenny for sure does. And if anyone says otherwise than they can speak to me, Stan and Kenny.” Kyle smiled as Lucy chuckled on the other line, her breathing starting to stabilize the more they talked.

“Sorry for dumping all that on you, I never want to just pull people down with my negative ass. Thank you for talking to me for a bit. I really like you Kyle.” Lucy blushed on her end of the phone line as she waited for a response. She heard Stan on the other end asking what Kyle was still doing outside his door. Lucy knew the deal that her and Kyle had made when they started this relationship but she couldn’t help but fall for him. He was unbelievably kind and he always knew how to comfort her when she was suffering from her anxiety.

“Ok, Stan just got outside so I’ll have to go. You sure you’ll be ok?” Lucy realized Kyle never heard her yet she was ok with that as long as she had him in her life.

“I’ll be fine. Have fun for me ok?” With that the phone line went dead.

Lucy brought her knees up to her face as she sat on the bleachers. She already knew that this relationship was doomed from the start. She could tell Stan’s feelings for Kyle were way past friendship. She caught him staring at them a few times, her jealousy getting the best of her. She felt like an awful person for invoking someone else to feel that same awful feeling of envy. She just didn’t want to lose him yet. She was prepared to say goodbye if they needed too, but she was always known to fall to hard and fast. Right now she had fallen way to hard for him.

Lucy sighed as she picked up her guitar that she had brought with her to practice. She strummed the first chord as a black hair girl walked up to her and tapped her on her shoulder.

“You must be the new student, as student body president it is of utmost importance that I greet all the new students. My name is Wendy.” The girl smiled as Lucy couldn’t help but smile back, won over by the girls infectious smile.

“Lucy. I hope you don’t mind if I continue to play. I don’t want to be rude, just playing music calms me down.” Wendy gestured for her to play as Lucy began to strum the chords some more, playing a song that was familiar to Wendy. Radio head.

Kyle and Stan sat in his room, Stan having brought his guitar with him. He had told Kyle he had some material he wanted to write for his band Crimson Dawn. Stan sat there on Kyle’s bed as he strummed some chords for a warm up.

“Hey, do you know the song creep by radio head?” Kyle asked as Stan decided to humor him.

“I do.” Stan responded as he fixed his hands to strum a G chord.

“You don’t have to play it if you don’t want too, I just really love the song.” Kyle smiled as Stan shook his head.

“Dude it’s ok, I also love the song and would love to play it for you. Just I’m not sure if my voice is a good fit for the song but I’ll do my best.” Stan started to play the song at the same time that Lucy was strumming the same song, both playing in front of their own respective person. Only difference was Stan had feelings for Kyle and he had strange feelings about serenading him with a song even if it wasn’t a romantic one.

“When you were here before, Couldn't look you in the eye, You're just like an angel, Your skin makes me cry, You float like a feather. In a beautiful world, I wish I was special,You're so fuckin' special.” Stan sang as Kyle just looked on mesmerized. He never knew that Stan had such. Gorgeous voice.

“But I'm a creep, I'm a weirdo. What the hell am I doin' here? I don't belong here!” Lucy sang as Wendy watched her play. Suddenly Stan flashed through her mind in that moment. She couldn’t put a finger to why.

Stan continued to play as did Lucy as they got to the end of the song. Wendy and Kyle watching both musicians as they sang with so much emotion.

“Whatever makes you happy. Whatever you want. You're so fuckin' special. I wish I was special, But I'm a creep….I'm a weirdo, What the hell am I doin' here? I don't belong here…I don't belong here” Stan finished the song strong as Kyle couldn’t keep his eyes off of him. Stan blushed and turned away.

“Dude, I told you I wasn’t that good. “ Kyle proceeded to yank Stan’s face to his with his arms as he looked him dead in the eye.

“Dude, you literally gave me goosebumps. You’re amazing!” The declaration made Stan feel nauseous again, he tried to yank away from his hold before he could throw up on Kyle. Kyle’s grip was strong. And than he couldn’t hold it in anymore.

“Ew!Dude! Gross!”

Meanwhile with Lucy and Wendy. They talked for a bit more after Lucy had performed. Wendy mentioning that Tolkien had wanted some live music at his party Saturday and that she should consider performing a song. Lucy considered it before heading home, sending one last text to Kyle before heading home for the night. Smiling at the fact she may have made a new friend.

Ding! Kyle’s phone had gone off. Stan heard the noise as he looked up from where he was currently shoving his head in a pillow. He was beyond embarrassed. Kyle said it’s not big deal and that he just needed a shower but Stan still hated the fact that he did that.

Stan glanced at Kyle’s phone briefly seeing it was from Lucy. Feeling sick to his stomach that she had a heart after her name. Stan looked back and forth as he intently listened to hear if the shower was still going. He heard the water running and couldn’t help but wish he was in there with Kyle. Stan cringed at the thoughts he just had about his best friend. He grabbed the phone off the table and swiped to put the passcode in. Stan always knew Kyle’s passcode, he always had it input as a reference to one of their on going inside jokes. Stan chuckled as he put 0420 in to the phone. They made a joke about that day a few times when they had decided to try getting high one night when there parents weren’t home.

That night was rough since Sheila and Sharon had walked in on them with the room smelling heavily of pot. Stan proceeded and opened the text message up, his curiosity getting the best of him.

From: Lucy <3
To: Kyle

I’m heading home now. I met someone today, she was really cool. I got to sing her creep by Radio Head, one of my favorite songs. Also Tolkien told her about wanting live performances at the party 🎉

I may do it! Just give me a list of your favorite songs too? Anyway goodnight 💤

Stan stared blankly at the phone. Was radio head’s creep Lucy’s favorite song and not Kyle’s like he had said. Did he only want to hear the song cause it reminded Kyle of her. Did he only grab his face closer because that song reminded him of her. Stan glared at the text message, he hated her. He hated how she could steal Kyle’s attention away like it was nothing. He hated the fact that she got his attention so quickly and he especially hated that Kyle would never look at him the way he looks at her.

The door creaked open as Stan quickly tossed the phone back to the spot it was and laid back down on the bed facing away from Kyle.

“Dude, you asleep already? I thought we were going to play some video games after you did some writing for your music?” Kyle mentioned as he just got silence. Kyle sighed as he started to rummage through his drawers for his pjs so he could at least get to sleep too. Stan gave a sideways glance and all he saw was Kyle’s back. He wanted to cry, he knew it could never happen and he hated the fact that today he got hope to the fact he might like him back.

Stan felt as the other side of the bed creaked as a warm body got next to his to sleep. It only took a little bit of time before Stan could hear Kyle’s deep breathing indicating that he was finally asleep. Stan turned to his side to just stare at his best friend teary eyed. It was only in these moments that he could truly see and watch his best friend without him knowing his dirty little secret.

If Kyle knew would he even want Stan to be this close. Would he never want to see him again if he truly knew how much he loved him. Stan never realized how deep his feelings for Kyle were until this week. Maybe he had loved him their whole lives. It would make sense of what Wendy had told him when they broke up.

Stan slowly lifted his hand to Kyle’s face as he gently with as light of touch as he could caressed his face. Why couldn’t his best friend be single again and be in love with him. It would save Stan from this heartbreak. He swears it’s worse than the times that Wendy and him had broke up. Stan removed his hand as he just stared at Kyle’s sleeping frame.

“I love you, Kyle. I wish I found out sooner.” Stan whispered as he turned back over so he wouldn’t be caught crying.

The night went by In a flash and the next morning Kyle was scrambling around getting dressed for school. Stan didn’t wake up till a jacket was thrown at him.

“Stan come on! We need to get to school.” Kyle exclaimed as Stan grunted in response. Stan wasn’t a morning person and he certainly wouldn’t be one now even if Kyle was the one waking him up.

“Dude! Do not make me jump on you.” Kyle shouted once more. That comment made Stan jump out of bed immediately. He would not be able to control himself if Kyle was that close to him. He barely controlled himself last night. He desperately wanted to kiss his best friend and it was a struggle to not just go for it.

“Alright! I’m up ok?” Stan yawned as he got dressed too, and then making his way downstairs with Kyle in towe.

The news was on when they walked down stairs with an announcement on the tv. Kyle and Stan grinned as they gave each other a look.

“No school today! Woohoo!” They yelled in unison as they high-fived. Stan couldn’t help but feel hot from the contact. His new feelings were making it so hard to be ok with being just friends.

The news had announced a water main break and had announced all schools and extra curriculars were canceled for Thursday and Friday. Stan figured the school decided to just close Friday as well to give them a longer weekend but he wasn’t complaining.

“Looks like we get to have a nice long weekend. We better enjoy it as long as we can.”

“Yeah, what would we wanna do?” Stan asked Kyle hopeful that they could hang out just them the next two days. He loved Kenny but he wanted alone time with his super best friend. Maybe it was the fact they hadn’t had time to themselves in a long time, but a part of him knew it was because he was hopeful that the more time he spends, the more Kyle may eventually return his feelings. Lucy be damned.

“I may actually hang with Lucy today and switch our date to today if that’s cool. That way we can have our usual Friday sleepover with the guys?” Kyle said as he ran back upstairs to grab his phone that he seemed to have forgotten when he dressed in haste.

“Oh that’s nice, I may continue to work on that song I was working on than today.” Stan sighed, he knew it would happen but he was happy that Kyle wanted to at least keep their sleepover Fridays planned. They never truly got to old for sleepovers, but Friday meant Cartman and Kenny would be there too. Cartman unfortunately was still apart of their group and so as long as he could remember he was at every sleepover.

Stan cringed as he remembered a few times waking up from sudden movement to see Cartman try and sneak into the same sleeping bag with Kyle or to do something else equally sneaky. Stan’s new found feelings for Kyle might be found out Friday. Before he was protective of Kyle sure and did call Cartman out for the shit he did. But Stan knew that he might be a bit worse if he see’s Cartman pulling that in front of him.

Stan cringed at the thought, grabbing his stuff quick before getting ready to head out.

“Kyle! I’ll see you later maybe.” Stan called not really wanting to stick around for a phone call between Lucy and Kyle discussing their date.

Stan stepped outside and rushed home without another word.

Chapter Text

Stan was jealous. Ok, he was more than jealous. He was wondering how Lucy would brush her hands over Kyle’s chest and how her lips would brush against his. Stan groaned as he slammed his fist on his bed. He briefly wondered if he should take swig of the alcohol he hid in his drawer. Maybe it would numb the ache in his heart from hurting so bad. Suddenly the door slammed open, revealing his orange hoodie wearing friend.

“Get dressed dude!” Kenny announced tossing Stan’s jacket at him from where it was on his computer chair.

“Ok…ow, what the hell dude?” Stan didn’t understand why Kenny felt the need to throw something at him. Kenny was always a unique kid, even while growing up. He always knew when Stan needed some company, and he silently wondered if Kenny always knew because his alternate identity as mysterion.

“Well one, not going to let you sulk over the fact that Kyle is on his date with Lucy right now. Two, you need some fresh air, like pronto. Plus, maybe we can stalk Kyle on his date?” Kenny teased as Stan became flustered at the mention of Kyle.

“Wait, how do you know where Kyle is going? He didn’t even tell me.” Stan questioned as Kenny smiled knowingly.

“You know I have my ways of the super human variety. Also, Cartman kind of has plans to crash their date. You aren’t the only one who’s taking the whole Kyle dating thing rough.” Kenny replied as Stan looked at Kenny with wide eyes.

“Dude, we need to stop him! He’s going to ruin everything.” Stan said as he quickly shot out of bed to get dressed for the day.

“Yo, chill dude. Maybe you wanna take a quick shower first? You reek.” Stan took a quick sniff of his underarm and gagged. He definitely didn’t smell the best and he had to admit Kenny was right. He sighed as he ran over to bathroom to hop in the shower and get ready as quickly as possible. Kyle hated Cartman with a passion. He still questioned why they all still hung out with him considering his awful track record. Cartman however would do anything to push Kyle’s buttons because he enjoyed getting a rise from him. He reveled in the fact that by doing those things to rile Kyle up that Kyle’s attention would than be solely on him. Cartman loved when he had his attention, no matter how negative of a response it illicited.

Stan rushed his shower as he hopped out rummaging through drawers to pick out anything decent. He didn’t even notice that he was dressing different from
Normal till he heard a loud whistle from behind him.

“Dude, you are totally trying to impress Kyle right now. You literally subconsciously picked out your best fitting clothes and put those on.” Stan looked into his mirror and realized that he did indeed put his best clothes on. Skinny jeans that were the right amount of tight fitting. A white t-shirt paired with his red converse and a black leather jacket.

“I can’t believe I did that…I should change, I’m not even wearing my hat.” Stan shouted as Kenny grabbed his arm and yanked him out the door.

“Don’t you dare change, if Kyle sees you like this. Hell, he might just break up with his girlfriend than and there. Because dude you look hot! Like James Dean! ” Kenny complimented as Stan couldn’t help but feel strangely subconscious about it.

“I don’t know about that one, dude. Lucy and him seem super into each other. Plus last night I think Kyle lied to me about his favorite song. He told me to play creep by radio head and Lucy texted him saying it was her favorite.” Kenny stopped in his tracks to look back at Stan. They had stopped in his living room. Randy and Sharon were long gone, off to work on the farm. Shelly must have been in her room, since she was also missing. Randy had reluctantly agreed to have his family move back to their family home at the encouragement from Sharon. Stan for once was happy that his parents weren’t privy to a personal conversation like this.

“Ok, how do you know Kyle just doesn’t have the same taste in music? Maybe it was just a weird and odd coincidence that she happened to have the same favorite song. Did you try talking to him about it?” Kenny inquired as Stan shrugged his shoulders. “I’ll take that as a no. Dude, you have to talk to him about this. If something is bothering you, you need to talk to that person. Communication is key.”

Stan hated that Kenny was right. Communication was the key to any good relationship and Stan’s communication skills were surely lacking. Stan had just felt so emotionally raw from just seeing the text message from Lucy. It was so full of love and he hated that he couldn’t send Kyle something similar. Although Stan would probably end up just liking every text of Kyle’s rather than talking to him about his actual feelings.

“Dude, do not sulk.”

“I can’t exactly help it. I’m literally in love with my best friend, and got upset over a text message from a girl rather than actually talk to him about it. Kenny, I didn’t realize how bad my feelings were before all this.” Stan hated how Kyle had single-handedly turned his world upside down. He wanted to punch him in his stupid pretty face.

“Well, now you do. Plus, I’m pretty sure everyone always knew. Wendy for sure you knew how you felt. Only one who didn’t realize is you and the moron you are in love with.” Kenny couldn’t help but give Stan a smug smile. Stan knew Kenny was right but it didn’t make him feel any better. After his breakup with Wendy, he thought that he’d be more broken up about it. As soon as he thought of what Wendy said the more he put two and two together. He loved Wendy but he was never in love with her, not like he was with Kyle. And now Kyle is dating someone, and Stan didn’t know what to do with himself. He wasn’t acting like himself and he blamed the Jewish boy for his turmoil.

“God, I can’t believe I was this dumb. Wait, when you said everyone…even?”

“Yes, even Cartman knew about it. You already know that he wouldn’t have told you anyway considering his own feelings. Bro’s to homophobic of himself that he can’t even bring himself to do anything about it though.” Kenny took a moment to lean back against the couch. He figured they’d be here a little longer since Stan needed to get some things off his chest. Kenny was willing to listen.

“Cartman wishes he stood a chance. Freshman year as a joke and also party out of anger, Kyle literally bought a death note from Walmart and scribbled down his name like twenty-seven times. Cartman thought it was his diary and literally thought Kyle had a crush on him. “ Stan laughed at the memory. “Although, I guess that really means I don’t have a chance either.”

“Not necessarily. You are thinking way to much about this situation. Kyle is dating Lucy, that is a fact. However; It doesn’t mean she’s the one and they are going to just run off and get married. “ sighed Kenny as gave Stan an exasperated look.

“I’ve just never seen him look at anyone else the way he did her.” Stan tried to reason as he fiddled with the hem of his tshirt.

“I could say the same for you. I’ve never seen him look at anyone else the way he looks at you, Stan.” Stan looked up with wide eyes toward Kenny. He had never really thought about Kyle possibly returning his feelings, but he felt that it was nonsense since he had Lucy.

“Don’t get my hopes up, dude.” Stan laughed quietly as he took a glance at the clock on the wall. “Shit, I got distracted. We need to get to Kyle’s date before Cartman can ruin things.”

Kenny rolled his eyes as Stan and he ran out the door. Kenny knew they’d have to ride their bikes to the location, it would take too long to get there on foot. Stan without hesitation grabbed his bike from the garage as Kenny grabbed his that he had used to get to Stan’s house.

“Alright so I know he took her to that new restaurant that opened up. It’s called the jitterbug cafe. It shouldn’t take us to long by bike ride but I don’t think we will beat Cartman there unfortunately.” Kenny turned to Stan as he rolled his bike over to Stan. Stan sighed, he had known that he was in a hurry for a reason and yet he couldn’t help but confide in Kenny. He was feeling so upset over last night and after talking with Kenny he realized just how much he may have overreacted. He was glad he didn’t confront Kyle about it at the time when he was not thinking clearly.

Kenny and Stan started to make their way to the cafe. Meanwhile, Lucy and Kyle were currently seated at their booth enjoying some coffee, and tea respectively. They had just placed their orders and were busy waiting for the food to arrive at their table. Her hands atop of his in a comforting fashion as they chatted amiably about their week and how luckily they had been to get the next two days of school off.

“This is nice.” Lucy smiled as she felt Kyle turn her palm over and squeezed gently.

“I really like this too. I’ve really liked getting to know you more these past two days. I know that’s such a short time, but it weirdly feels like we’ve known each other our wholes lives.” Kyle laughed as Lucy gave him a knowing look.

“I wonder why that is, don’t tell me you forgot what we talked about in our biology class yesterday?” Lucy’s voice was dripping with sarcasm as Kyle glared at her.

“I haven’t forgotten. It’s honestly super cool that you are so cool about doing this.” Kyle responded, the conversation between them being a little secret between them. Both knowing what they agreed on and the circumstances behind their relationship. Kyle knew why he loved being around Lucy, in a way he suppose he always knew. Lucy was an enigma, she was kind, cared for animals, played music, and reminded Kyle of a certain super best friend.

Lucy was Stan and Kyle suppose he knew the moment he saw her in class that first day. Lucy was capable of calming him down with just a touch just as Stan was able to do the same for him. Kyle was also equally there for Lucy when she was feeling depressed as he was with Stan. They both were basically the same person but Stan having had more issues with substance abuse, while Lucy had a more personal issue which she said one day she hoped she can open up about it with him.

The comfortable silence sat between the two of them for a bit as Kyle found himself tracing the palms of her hands where the lines were. Lucy hummed a small song that vaguely sounded like something from Taylor Swift. The small moment between them being interrupted by none other than Eric Cartman.

“What do we have here? The dirty Jew and his slut of a girlfriend. You two are basically made for each other, but tell me Kyle how badly does she need dick…to settle for you?” Cartman spoke with venom. His jealousy getting the best of him as he scoffed at the thought of being jealous over Kyle. He refused to admit that he was in love with a guy. Lucy and Kyle had immediately separated as soon as he interrupted their moment.

“Cartman, I swear to Moses if you don’t shut your fucking mouth, I will smash your fucking teeth in.” Kyle’s anger was quickly getting the best of him. He often shot back at insults regarding him, but his blood was boiling at the way Cartman described the blonde beside him. He was visibly shaking as his palms formed into fists, ready to punch the smug look off Cartman’s face. Cartman had never been happier to get a rise from Kyle, always happy when Kyle’s attention was on him.

Lucy grabbed hold of Kyle’s hands immediately which helped calm him down from his high. Knowing that just that simple touch would be enough to calm him down.

“Eric cartman. I’m so sorry that you feel the need to pick on others because you’re dealing with your own internalized homophobia. If you really want to kiss Kyle, just do it. Although, you wouldn’t get that far since he wouldn’t even give you the chance.” Lucy’s expression darkened as she glared at Eric. He was shaking, all smugness dropped from his face as he growled at her. He slammed his palm on their table before stomping away to sit in a far off booth. The booth not being to far away but far enough to get their privacy.

“Oh god, I thought he would have left. Also, all of that was rather unexpected. Everything you said seemed to have really gotten to him.” Kyle commented as Lucy looked at Kyle bewildered.

“Wait was it not obvious he has a crush on you?” Kyle sputtered as he spit out his drink that he took a sip of.

“A crush!? On me? Gross. Cartman really!?” Kyle did not disguise his disgust well.

“Yeah. He makes it super obvious with the way he wants to get under your skin. It’s typical behavior from a guy who is not ready to admit that they are into guys to any capacity. Plus it just seems like the way he picks on you. He just wants a rise from you so he can have your attention on him rather than someone else.” Lucy commented as she took a sip of her tea. The waitress took that moment to bring their food over.

“I never thought of it before. I honestly hate cartman so it kind of freaks me out that he might see me in that way. I’d honestly be fine with literally anyone else.” Kyle said as he took a bite of his pancakes.

“Like for example…Stan?” Lucy knew what she was asking. She couldn’t help but tease him over it.

“Listen, we said that no matter what we would not talk about our discussion out in public. But yeah, I’d be kind of happy if that happened.” Kyle blushed as Lucy grinned as she took a bite from her own plate.

They continued on like that for a bit as the doors to the cafe burst open revealing a disheveled Stan and Kenny. From the angle they were at, Kyle saw them immediately. His eyes immediately lighting up at the sight of his super best friend and Kenny. Lucy turned around quick to see what he had been looking at and gave him a look that said ‘really, can you be any more obvious!?’ Kyle glared at her as he waved the two over.

“Oh…hey…Kyle. Didn’t know you two would be having your date here.” Stan lied through his teeth as did his best to not show that he clearly hated being there. Seeing them on a date just brought out the same jealous emotion he had been feeling all day.

“Lucy! There’s Kyle’s better half.” Kenny called out as he teased the ginger boy who glared at him.

“I’m flattered. But I’m really nothing special. Kyle, we did have plenty of time to have our date. If you would rather spend time with Stan and Kenny now I will not hold it against you. They are your friends, and plus you can always call me later to talk.” Lucy mentioned as Kyle thought about it for a moment. That was until his phone went off. He looked down to see a text from his coach.

“Fuck.” Kyle cursed as he ran his hands down his face.

“Everything ok dude?” Stan questioned as he placed a hand on Kyle’s shoulder. Lucy looked at this moment skeptically.

“Yeah, everything is cool. My coach just wants us at practice still tonight. This basically means I’m going to have to get heading to practice in a little bit.” Kyle bit his bottom lip for a second before turning to his girlfriend. “Lucy, would you like to come with me? I know the bleachers aren’t any fun but maybe Stan and Kenny can go to and you guys can hang together. That way you guys can get to know her.”

The suggestion came on suddenly. Stan had felt happy for being included but felt dread at the fact he’d have to converse with the enemy. Kenny gave a grin as he accepted Kyle’s offer for all of those involved. Lucy and Stan both seemed to feel weird about the idea, but neither seemed to notice. They quickly finished their food as Kenny and Stan sat down with them till they finished eating and paying for their meals. Kyle had taken it upon himself to pay for both their meals.

They than began to walk out ignoring cartman who’s eyes seemed to follow a certain ginger. One with whom had been told about his feelings for him. As they walked over to Kyle’s sedan, Kyle quickly grabbing his letterman jacket from the back seat to give to Lucy.

“You want me to wear it?” She questioned as Kyle simply nodded before she shorted the jacket over her clothes. Stan watched on as he couldn’t help but glare at the transaction, only be knocked back to reality when Kenny elbowed him.

“Also, Stan sorry I didn’t notice before. But you look good dude! I haven’t seen you wear anything but your usual outfit for a while. It looks nice on you.” Kyle complimented which caused Stan to turn red as he waved him off.

“Thanks dude, but I don’t look that good.” Stan laughed as Kyle shook his head.

“Trust me, you definitely do.” Kyle’s green eyes met with Stan’s ocean blue. Stan felt his knees buckle slightly and felt like he’d need someone to hold him so he didn’t fall over from Kyle’s intense stare.

“Well…I’m going to go ahead and get in than. If it’s ok I’ll be taking shot gun.” Lucy said interrupting their moment. Kyle smiled back at her as she gave him a weak one back. They proceeded to get in the car as Lucy’s mind ran wild thinking back to the conversation Kyle and her had had the day prior.

Lucy had just wandered into biology class a little late and took her seat next to Kyle. It was a lab day and they needed to work on dissecting a frog. Lucy grimaced when she saw the poor things insides. The poor animal didn’t stand a chance.

“I can’t do this. The poor animal. I wish there was a way we could stop dissection of frogs in biology. This isn’t right.” Lucy concluded as Kyle turned to her mesmerized.

“It be cool if they could. I’m sorry I just I don’t know why but you are honestly reminding me of of my best friend Stan right now.” Kyle chuckled as the past two days conversations and moments Lucy had spotted started to make sense. The moment with Stan and Wendy’s breakup was the one that stood out the most.

Kyle and her had been talking and flirting. She didn’t mind, she tended to be quite flirtatious with how her personality was. She never truly knew when she was actually flirting. She had noticed the way Kyle would glance over at his best friend a few times during the conversation. Kyle even going so far as to leave her behind to see if he was ok after the conversation. Something’s were starting to make sense now.

“You like him.” It was said as more of a statement than a question.

“What? I mean yeah I do he is my best friend. If you meant the other like than I’m sorry but that’s reserved for you.” Kyle chuckled as Lucy grabbed hold of Kyle’s hand, momentarily pausing his work on the frog.

“No. You like like Stan. Hell you might even be in love with him. Don’t you at all find it odd that you had such a reaction to me so quickly when I first joined the class. Plus your comment just now solidified it for me. You don’t like me, you like me because I’m basically the girl equivalent of your best friend. You love him.” Lucy explained as Kyle looked on wide eyed at the determined girl.

“What? No.no.no. I’m not gay though. I would know wouldn’t I? That makes no sense so, I really like you. That can’t be possible.” Lucy smiled softly as she squeezed his hand to calm him down.

“You don’t have to be gay. You could be bi-sexual like me or maybe not bi at all. There are so many different sexualities on the spectrum. You don’t even have to put a label on it if you don’t want too. But I see the way you look at him and it’s increasingly obvious that you like him more than just a simple friendship.” Kyle groaned as he tried his best to work more on the dissection so their teacher didn’t think they were screwing around.

“I just. Shit, maybe I do. I’d never be able to actually tell him though. It would ruin our friendship forever. It wouldn’t be the same.” Kyle wrote a few notes down on the sheet the professor gave them.

“Not necessarily, maybe we could make a bit of a deal. You won’t have to do anything, especially if you’re not ready. We can continue to date as we’ve been already. Just if later on Stan does happen to return your feelings in any way, than I will let you go. No hard feelings and we can still stay friends. I can’t lie and say I won’t be hurt but I know I will if it does happen. A part of me just doesn’t want to say goodbye yet.” Kyle looked at her skeptically.

“Are you sure? I wouldn’t want to hurt you ever. Plus what would you even be getting out of this?”

“One, I get my first boyfriend and experience for the future. Two, I get to date probably one of the most attractive boys I’ve seen. It’s a plus that you have a nice ass too. Third, I get to spend some time with a really sweet and kind guy who equally wants to spend time with me.” Lucy blushed as Kyle looked into her eyes blush also adorning his cheeks.

“I appreciate the compliments. If you are sure than a deals a deal. We will continue to date until Stan realizes maybe he likes me too. That one I doubt, but I could be dating someone else who I don’t have any interest in whatsoever.”

“Please, we both know you only find me attractive is because I remind you of your best friend. The saying same person different font comes to mind.” Lucy teased as Kyle blew her a raspberry.

“You are honestly to kind for your own good, you know that?” Kyle replied as the memory slowly lifted. Lucy finding herself at the school. She turns toward Kyle who was busy parking the car.

She squeezes the edges of the jacket as she holds it tighter to herself. She knew Stan would return his feelings one day. She already knew that going in but seeing the way they had, had this special moment just between them truly made Lucy wonder if she really wanted to continue. Especially when she knew she’d be getting herself hurt.

The group sauntered into the gym as Kyle went to the lockers giving Lucy a quick peck on the cheek before heading in to change. Lucy blushed as Stan grumbled not liking the initial contact they had shared. Stan knew why he felt this way, and he knew he shouldn’t since Lucy could be Kyle’s future.

The thought alone made Stan want to just skip town and not turn back. Stan vowed he’d be happy for his best friend no matter who he ended up with. Kenny conversed with Lucy briefly before dragging Stan over to the bleachers with him to watch the practice. Stan already felt nervous about being here, since on the other side of the gym was Wendy, Bebe and Red. He had just been broken up with, he felt fine but he hopes Wendy would feel comfortable enough to be able to talk to him.

“Let’s take our seats than.” Kenny spoke up trying to hide the tension between Stan and Lucy. Lucy simply nodded as she followed Kenny, with Kenny making sure to put ample space between the two.

“I’ve never really gotten to see Kyle practice before. This is all so new to me.” Lucy murmured as Kenny put an arm around her shoulder in support.

“You are in for a treat. As a true blue hoe, I can tell you that watching these guys glisten with sweat is chefs kiss.” Kenny smiled as he gestured to the court as the team started to wander out. Lucy giggled as Stan just gave him a look.

“Dude, you don’t have a filter do you?” Stan gave an awkward chuckle.

“Me. Never. I personally love woman and men equally. I do not discriminate, but you can’t deny they look fucking hot especially in their uniforms.” Kenny remarked as a certain ginger made his way out of the locker room. He was wearing the cows basketball uniform which showed off his muscular arms. His curled hair out of his usual cap he’d wear, leaving him looking rather wild. Stan couldn’t take his eyes off of him. Kyle had always been Kyle but during this whole ordeal, Stan began to recognize just how beautiful Kyle truly was.

“You are a really lucky girl.” Kenny commented as he elbowed Stan. “Isn’t that right, Stan?”

Stan glared at Kenny, he was already heating up from Kyle just simply walking out looking like James fucking dean. Stan began to wonder if Lucy was suspecting something since the way she looked at him was as if she were terrified. As if just the fact that Stan might have feeling for Kyle would be an obstacle. Stan didn’t quite understand how he could be one since Kyle didn’t return his feelings. He never planned on ever telling him. He was too much of a coward to even try and see if they could be together. Not wanting to risk their friendship. Losing Kyle would be worse than waiting for rain in an endless drought. Stan doesn’t think he’d ever be able to live with himself if he lost the one person he loved.

Practice started as the coach turned on some music as they started to run some drills. Sneakers by Knox came on immediately as Wendy made her way over from the other side of the gymnasium. Stan wanted to immediately sink in his seat as she walked right toward him.

“Hey new girl! Did you think of my offer?” Wendy proceeded to ask as she stopped in front of the letterman wearing blonde.

“Oh I have! So for the party I’m actually going to be super late. I told Kyle about that this morning, so he said he’d probably be heading there earlier and if I wanted to perform he could bring my equipment with him. I think I’d like to maybe perform a few songs, but most will probably be covers if it’s ok.” Lucy responded. Stan briefly wondered when Wendy and her had talked. He couldn’t remember a time where she wasn’t attached to Kyles hip.

“That’s awesome! Stan, I know we haven’t talked yet and I promise I will. I’m still hurting because it’ll be hard to get over your first love but I do think I’m feeling a bit better to finally talk to you as a friend. I guess being on and off again has made it easier for me to come to terms with it.” Wendy tried to joke as Stan laughed awkwardly in response. “So, I have already talked to Lucy about this since she performed for me last night and just wow. It kind of reminded me of….oh. Oh my god.”

Stan looked at her in confusion as Wendy’s eyes widened. She suddenly had a realization and turned toward Lucy who was staring at her with fear in her eyes. Wendy immediately understood with one look and cleared her throat as if to pretend that nothing was wrong. Stan didn’t seem to convinced.

“Sorry, I just had this sudden pain. I think I’m getting a bit of a headache. Lucy if you can ask Stan for me? I’m going to head back over to chill with Bebe and Red. Maybe one of them has an aspirin.” Wendy mentioned as she wandered away. Suddenly the track on the station that was playing had changed to Deja Vu by Olivia Rodrigo. Wendy smiled slightly at how ironic that song was in this moment.

Stan turned toward Lucy as if inquiring her to ask the question Wendy had been wondering about. Lucy looked over at him as she played with the ends of her hair, braiding them into small braids as she ran her hands through each strand to than separate them to start over once again.

“Tolkien’s party. He wanted live performers, and she asked me last night and I think she wanted to know if you’d be opening to performing a few songs as well?” Kenny smiled as elbowed Stan once more.

“Dude, you’ll deff have to perform with your band crimson dawn!” Lucy’s eyes sparkled as she turned toward Stan.

“That’s such a badass name! My band was called crimson sun, so it was pretty similar huh?” Lucy chuckled as some lightbulbs started to appear in Kenny’s head as well. Something seemed a little to familiar with this conversation.

“That’s kind of funny that we have bands with such similar names.” Stan laughed not picking up on the fact that Lucy and him may just be a bit too similar to each other.

The next hour the group kept talking and Kenny started to see that Stan and Lucy both had similar interests, and dislikes. Kenny even picked up on the fact that even their style was basically the same, minus the hats being slightly different. Lucy sporting more of a plain black beanie compared to Stan’s poof ball cap. Stan’s jealousy momentarily forgotten as he got to know Lucy.

He hated her so much for stealing someone he loved and yet how could he hate her when she was so kind to him. Practice had than started to end as Kyle ran over to them encasing Lucy in a hug which ruined the moment between Stan and Lucy. Stan remembering why he had not liked her that much. Knowing that it was unfair since it wasn’t her fault. He was just upset that it wasn’t him in Kyle’s arms right now.

“Kylllleeeeee. You are so gross right now, stop!” Lucy laughed as Kyle pressed his sweaty body to hers and leaned down to give her a kiss. That part broke Stan as he felt the need to want to run away.

“If you guys are cool waiting, I just need a shower quick, than I can take us home?” Kyle questioned as Stan stood up to look at him.

“It’s cool dude, I can actually walk back home. I think you and Lucy should be able to enjoy the rest of the day with each other. Especially, since the fatass ruined it earlier.” Stan commented as he remembered what Lucy had told Kenny and him. Stan had to admit what she said back in retaliation was priceless and he wish he was able to see Cartman’s face.

“Are you sure dude?” Kyle questioned as Stan nodded. Kenny took that moment to intervene to make it less awkward.

“It’s probably for the best. Lucy mentioned tomorrow she had to drive out to Denver with family anyway for some wedding plans for her brother. So that way you guys can actually spend some more time together before than. Besides we have our weekly sleepover tomorrow so it’s not like we won’t see you.” Kenny mentioned as he shoved his hands into his pockets.

“Alright, than I’m going to go shower and I will be right back, Lu.” Kyle kissed her once more before walking away. Lucy said goodbye to the boys as she gave them each a hug respectively.

Stan and Kenny made there way back home. Stan noticed that Craig and Tweek were walking hand and hand towards the park. Stan immediately felt jealous of the two of them. He wished Kyle and him could be together like they were. He knew it was impossible and he didn’t want to hate Lucy since she ended up being a very kind girl. He just wished she was dating someone else that wasn’t Kyle.

The two of them walked on in silence till they made it to Stan’s house.

“Are you going to be alright?” Kenny asked as Stan simply nodded not wanting to go into much more detail. Kenny decided he would tell Stan tomorrow what he had realized tonight. He didn’t want to bring up anything he was unsure about. He was hoping he can do some digging tonight as Mysterion.

The two boys said goodnight to each other before Kenny’s long night of research started. It was going to be a long night.

Notes:

I wanted to note this towards the end of the chapter but Lucy’s character is roughly based on Stan. I wanted to create a character that like Stan and I did my best to characterize her as such.

I hope you guys loved this chapter. It took me a while to write it. Next chapter will be a fun one since the sleepover is next chapter so be ready!

Chapter 5: Realizations

Summary:

Kenny and Stan have a talk, Cartman is being a dick

Notes:

I did my best to portray Cartman this chapter the best I could to canon. It was rough but next chapter we are having more developments and it’ll be the longest chapter I write for this story so be prepared. Plus next chapter will be the most style content since I wanted to establish the fact that they both caught feelings but were nervous to make a move. I hope you guys like this so far! I have other stories I’m looking at writing when this one is done, and I may eventually go back to some unfinished works but right now I want to commit to one at a time. My hyperfixation on South Park right now is to thank for this one. Otherwise we probably wouldn’t have it. Future edits will be done later on.

Chapter Text

One kiss. At least that’s all Kyle got before having to say goodbye to his girlfriend before she went to Denver that Friday morning. Kyle briefly had met her at her place early that morning to say goodbye. He grabbed hold of her hands as he brought her closer to his frame. Breathing in her intoxicating scent of lavender and lilacs. Her scent different from that of Stan’s whom tended to smell like pinewood trees and rain. Both scents equally intoxicating to Kyle as he lifted his right hand to place in her cheek before pulling her closer for one kiss. Her arms wrapping around his neck to deepen the kiss. They parted as she looked into his emerald green eyes with a small smile.

“I’ll be back late Saturday night. I’m going to miss you.” Lucy commented as Kyle chuckled.

“It’ll be here in no time but I’ll miss you too.” They parted a little more as the space between them grew.

“Have fun with your sleepover with the guys later. And…I have something I want to tell you but I think it’ll be better till we wait for tomorrow. It’s regarding our deal.” Lucy knew what she needed to do. She wanted to be brave and tell Kyle right than and there what she was so sure of. The way Stan looked at Kyle the day prior cemented the idea that Kyle’s feelings may already be reciprocated. She wanted to tell him, but decided it be better to wait. They had a sleepover that night, the complications and awkwardness that her words could cause would be detrimental to their relationship. She also couldn’t bring herself to officially say goodbye. A goodbye she knew was coming soon. She always fell to hard to fast and Kyle was no exception. If she proved to be correct, she rather take the next two days to try and prepare herself from the heartbreak she’d inevitably feel. A small part of her hoped she was wrong.

“Oh…ok sure. We can definitely talk more when you get back from your trip.” Kyle smiled as Lucy gave him another quick embrace before backing up and slowly losing the grip of Kyle’s hands. Once she turned around she let a small tear fall from her eyes knowing that after tomorrow their relationship might be over. She promised if Stan returned his feelings she’d back away. She just wished it didn’t hurt so much. She just somehow knew that she was right, and that Stan truly did love Kyle back. She hated it. She hated herself for feeling this way when the plan was her idea in the first place.

She quickly got into her parents car with her brother as she wiped her eyes quick. She waved goodbye to Kyle as they drove away with her family. They wouldn’t be back till tomorrow and she hoped in the back of her mind that she was completely wrong about what she has seen.

The afternoon arrived rather quickly as Kenny yawned, finally waking up from sleeping for several hours. He had been out all night as mysterion gathering some information he needed to confirm his theory. He had been correct and he was more than happy to share the news with Stan. He got dressed quickly, wearing his trademark hoodie as he ran out the door to bike over to Stan’s.

Upon arriving, he noticed Kyle’s car was already in his driveway. Kenny knew that Lucy had left that morning, but he did not realize that Kyle would be back home already. He has assumed that Lucy was not leaving till the afternoon. He couldn’t believe how wrong he was. He put his bike in park as he ran up to the Marsh residence to knock. Today was normally a school day, so Stan should be the only one home.

Kenny was right to think that as a disheveled Stan opened his door. Kenny couldn’t help but chuckle at his appearance; realizing that he was the reason for it.

“Sorry, didn’t mean to wake you.” Kenny at least had the decency to look guilty at possibly waking his friend up.

“No you’re good. I actually just woke up. Just didn’t have much time to actually clean myself up. Kyle mentioned that if we wanted we can head to his place around two since no parents. He did say Ike would be back home though and just to be careful. Kyle mentioned that Ike has been a bit more possessive over him lately.” Stan brought up as he gestured for Kenny to come inside as he shit the door behind him.

“I still need to pack my bag myself but this couldn’t wait.” Kenny brought up as Stan ceased all movement to look back at him.

“Oh…what’s wrong? Is everything ok?” Stan’s expression changed form overly self-conscious to concern.

“Dude, I’m perfectly fine but you should sit down for this one.” Stan plopped his ass down on the couch as he looked up at his friend.

“So…yesterday, we were kind of sitting with Lucy and I realized something…odd.” Kenny began as Stan rose an eyebrow.

“Define odd.”

“Lucy….she literally was like looking at a twin of you but just blonde.” Stan glanced at Kenny before gesturing him to continue. “I did some digging and found that it wasn’t only appearance wise in the way she dressed and carried herself. You both have all the same interests and act basically identical. Even down to the mental health issues.”

“So we are similar, that doesn’t really tell me what’s going on here.” Stan laughed as Kenny sighed.

“Dude, put two and two together. The same way you dated Wendy cause she is literally Kyle. Kyle is doing the same with Lucy. He likes you!” Kenny couldn’t help the wide grin that spread over his face as Stan sunk further and further into the couch, face as red as a tomato.

“There is absolutely no way, he has a girlfriend he loves. And he’s not even remotely swinging for the same team.” Stan was adamant that Kyle could in no way have feelings for him. There was just no possible way it was true.

“Dude, I’m telling you that Kyle may not be completely straight.” Kenny cried out at Stan’s stupidity.

“How would you know?” Mysterion had found out a few things last night including something about a deal between the ginger haired boy and the blonde. Kenny found that he should not reveal anything like that, since it seemed like a private matter. The more he thought about it, the deal sounded as if they were dating temporarily.

“I may have gone out last night as my alter ego. Found out a couple things as I did some digging. I don’t want to reveal everything I know but just know that Kyle definitely likes you back. I think only thing stopping him is same thing that’s stopping you from telling him how you feel.” Stan hated to admit that Kenny was right. He was scared. Scared that Kyle would hear his confession and than cut him out of his life. He couldn’t handle that happening again, not after what had happened all those years ago after he had, had his birthday. Everything and anything sounded or tasted shitty, and he even got tricked into believing his issue could only be handled by alcohol. He remembers briefly how he had been so happy in his drunken state to see Kyle and how he had been the only person he had wanted to see at that moment. He supposed he should have known back than, but they were just kids. That moment however was what started his drinking problem. He has been a bit better since, and being around Kyle has surely helped him through it.

The alcohol took away the pain and made him less cynical. It was like a way to cure what was going on at the time, something they’d later learn was depression. He knew he’d probably be drinking at Tolkien’s party on Saturday but he has been doing better moderating how much he’s been drinking. He tended to only drink socially now, but the fear of relapsing into his old habits.

“Even if what you say is true, I can’t do that to Lucy. I honestly can’t say I didn’t like her and a part of me still doesn’t. Mostly because she has Kyle, but she has been nothing but kind to me. It would feel like a breach of trust. I’m sure Kyle would feel the same way if Wendy and I were still together.” Stan explained as Kenny gave him a grin. It terrified Stan as he thought of the possible plan that he had come up with.

“You see, I wouldn’t worry about Lucy too much. She is honestly great and if she’s anything like you, she may just go hang with the goth kids if they do break up. But that’s the beauty of the plan I have. You won’t hurt Lucy in anyway, you’re just going to be testing the waters tonight.” Stan roses his eyebrows as he stared back at Kenny.

“Elaborate on that please.”

“Tonight, we are going to have you openly flirt with Kyle. Like nothing to outrageous of course. Don’t want Kyle to be suspicious of us. I’m just saying maybe try and see how Kyle reacts to certain things you do. That could be a clear indicator right there!” Stan blushed at the thought of flirting with Kyle. He had always been a bit awkward and not really great at flirting. The thought of flirting with Kyle was enough to make him want to toss himself into the sun.

“I wouldn’t know how to flirt. I always threw up on the person I liked so I never really got to flirt.” Kenny grabbed hold of Stan’s shirt as he yanked him up to his feet.

“Than practice on me?” Kenny’s intense gaze was enough to have butterflies in your stomach. Stan however was just stunned by the sudden movement he had been forced into.

“Dude, personal space. And I rather take my chances with the throw up. Flirting with a friend is way to awkward.” Stan reasoned as Kenny pouted.

“It’s not that weird to flirt with a friend. But fine, you win. I hope you enjoy the fact that Kyle might be covered in your vomit all night.” Stan glared at a Kenny as he began to walk towards the door to leave.

“I won’t be you ass! I was going to take some medication for nausea to help.” Stan called after him as Kenny gave him a sideways glacé with a smirk plastered on his face. In that moment if Stan didn’t fall for Kyle, Kenny would have been a good runner up. The boy surprisingly was very handsome, and had a certain charm to him.

“Oh, we all know you don’t want my ass. Kyle’s though, you definitely want to pound that ass.” Kenny laughed at Stan’s expense. Face beat red as he suddenly realized something important.

“Wait! Kenny we forgot about Cartman!” Kenny turned back around eyes widened at the realization.

“Shit.”

Eric Cartman. He had been a bane in everyone’s existence. Their whole lives he had done nothing but ridicule their group, but Kyle more so than others. Nobody else put two and two together when he would constantly choose to pick on Kyle over spending time with his girlfriend. It wasn’t till the imagination land incident that his feelings for the ginger haired boy came to light. That was too everyone but Kyle. Kyle was completely oblivious and thought Cartman had imagined himself getting sucked off by Kyle just to spite him. Stan remembered at the time that he had felt this pit in his stomach. He had just assumed it was irritation at the circumstances behind the scene. Looking back he now realizes he was jealous and had wanted to punch Cartman till he relented and wished away the nightmare.

For the past few years they had shared sleepovers on Fridays. It had been tradition for the four of them. Stan and Kenny however forgot about Cartman and his crush on their friend. Every year Friday he would make lame excuses on why he’d want to be next to Kyle or sleep near him. One time Stan and Kenny had caught him trying to kiss Kyle in his sleep. If they hadn’t been there, they were afraid Kyle’s innocence would have been tainted by the bastard. Kyle was a heavy sleeper and never seemed to wake up at the slightest movements. Stan was relieved that he wasn’t such a deep sleeper and was able to protect his super best friend from the likes of Cartman.

Stan and Kenny’s plan was was simple, find ways to create a moment to have Kyle’s feelings for Stan. Second part of plan was make sure Cartman didn’t ruin anything due to his own insecurities regarding his crush. The two arrived together at Kyle’s ready to take on sleepover head on, but it was to their surprise when Cartman answered the door.

“What up fuck wads?” Cartman looked smug as if he had done something worthy of it.

“Where and what did you do to Kyle, fatass?” Stan grew impatient, not liking the fact that Cartman showed up early to be alone with his Kyle. Stan’s eyes widened at his last thought and shook his head to shake the thought away. Kyle wasn’t his, and he didn’t like how possessive he had gotten over him. Stan had never been that way, not even with Wendy.

“God Stan! Didn’t realize you had sand in your vagina.” Cartman complained as he opened the door wider to reveal Kyle. Kyle who was plugging in the game system giving everyone a clear front row of his ass. Stan sputtered as Kenny let out a low whistle.

“Looking hot as always Kyle!” Kenny announced as Stan walked over to him to try and shield him from the others prying gaze. Not being able to control his jealousy. He didn’t want anyone else to look at him. He didn’t even think to wonder if Cartman had noticed the strange behavior but he didn’t say anything.

“Shut up, Kenny!” Kyle shot back as he shot up from the ground to bring Stan in for a hug. “Glad you could make it, dude!”

Stan was blushing, and also thankful the nausea pills were working. The moment was quickly interrupted as Cartman quickly shoved them apart.

“Alright, I don’t need to see some gay shit right now. “ Cartman grumbled as Stan and Kyle both glared at him. Stan was already mourning the loss of contact.

“Ok, internalized homophobia aside, what does everyone want to do? Because I’m totally up to beating your asses in Mario kart!” Kenny announced as Cartman whined something of he wasn’t gay and he hated how everyone was starting to assume he was.

“I’m a Toad main, so be warned.” Kyle grinned as he gave a challenging look to Kenny. Kyle was strangely competitive and had a drive to win everything he did. The only skills he lacked so far was dancing. He was very uncoordinated and they learned that the hard way.

“Peach is obviously the best character! Princess Kenny says so.” Princess Kenny was certainly a badass.

“Guys obviously your both wrong, the real one is bowser.” Cartman commented, his whining long since ceased.

“Stan, which character do you main?” Kyle brought up to bring him into the conversation.

“If I was going to main anyone, it be shy guy. I always play him.” The group shared looks as they all took seats on the couch letting Kyle load up the system. Kenny had made sure to sit between Kyle and Cartman leaving the last spot on the end to Stan. They could already tell that Cartman was upset which the seating arrangement but he didn’t say was otherwise.

They quickly picked their characters as they each took turns choosing the different courses. Kenny truly was showing his princess Kenny powers since he got first place pretty much every round they did. Always managing to get Kyle out of first place with a blue shell. Kyle was livid over the fact that it was always last minute effort and Kenny always managed to get the blue shell last minute and destroy him. Cartman and Stan were neck and neck most rounds, constantly destroying each other with bananas shells and other items. An unspoken rivalry was between them as they completed each round. Both more determined than the last round to beat the other. Kenny figured they weren’t competing to win but competing for something or someone else in particular.

Each round of the game passed by idly as they all shared some of their usual banter. It truly felt like old times in that moment, without all the heavy feelings involved. Stan suddenly got up letting the others know he was heading to the bathroom, as the group waved him off as they were deciding on what to do next. Suddenly Stan felt a presence at the doorway as he was washing his hands.

“What do you want Cartman?” Stan barely registered that he was there as he couldn’t help the anger seep into his voice.

“Just found it kind of funny how much Kyle has grown into his body.” Stan froze as he tried to ignore him. “Would be a shame if anyone were to break him.”

Stan glared at him, eyes piercing through Eric’s soul.

“Oh, now I got your attention. Stan, let me level with you. Why not just give up those lame ass feelings of yours. That way you won’t get hurt.” Cartman was mocking him at this point as Stan started to dry his hands.

“I don’t know what your talking about fat ass, now move out of my way please.” Stan made his way to the door as Cartman made it his mission to block his way. They could briefly hear Kyle in the background yelling to them to hurry up so they can pick a movie.

“Do us a favor Stan. Give the hell up and stay away from my man bitch.” Stan sighed remembering how he had tricked Nicole into thinking Kyle and him were a gay couple.

“What the actual fuck Cartman?” Stan was just confused and he wanted to depart this conversation as fast as possible.

“I know you like Kyle, I see the way you look at him… just a bit differently than you did before. Meaning you must have realized your actual feelings. Kyle, is mine bro so I’m going to need you to step off.” Stan was flabbergasted at the fact that he’d opening admit his feelings for Kyle to him.

“You actually admitted you have a crush on him? I’m honestly shocked.” Cartman glared at Stan still making sure to block his way.

“I don’t have a crush on Kyle. I just don’t want you to have him.” Stan laughed at him as he shoved Cartman through the door hard.

“You are so full of it! You’re clearly jealous that I am now your competition. You are so scared that you might actually have feelings for a guy that you’re showing aggression towards me for being able to openly admit it. Fuck, yeah I am in love with Kyle but that gives you no right to tell me to back off. You don’t have any special claim on him, dude. You fucking asshole.” Cartman smiled and Stan froze a moment to turn around but was confused when he saw nobody around to hear his confession. Cartman laughed as he ran off as Stan shouted following after him, scared that he may have recorded his confession.

As soon as the two ran out of the room Kenny and Kyle stood up in anticipation. Both equally worried that a fight was about to break out. Suddenly time stood still as Cartman tackled Kyle and kissed him. Stan saw red as he yanked Cartman off his best friend. Kyle’s eyes were blown wide, possibly broken from being kissed by his worse enemy. Kenny ran over to help Stan as he too was equally upset at the action.

“What the fuck Cartman!” Kenny yelled as Stan had thrown him to the ground.

“For a joke, it’s not that funny!” Stan was fuming as he glared down at Cartman. He hasn’t felt this much anger since Cartman had gotten Kyle sent to an immigration camp.

“I knew you’d be too much of a pussy to do it yourself.” Cartman laughed as Kenny saw Stan shaking as if he was ready to jump Cartman at any moment. Kenny knew that if this happened, Stan may commit a murder tonight.

“I think it’s time you leave Cartman.” Kenny held no emotion in his voice as Cartman glared up at Kenny and picked him self back up from the floor.

“Screw you guys I’m going home.” Cartman stated as he sauntered toward the door. Stan could tell already that he didn’t even feel the least bit sorry for what he did. If Cartman wanted to get under Stan’s skin, it was working.

Kyle was still frozen solid as Cartman made sure to bump into him knocking him out of his stupor.

“What the fuck Cartman! “ Kyle yelled after him.

“This has been fun, but Kyle if you ever need more than just a kiss….you know where to find me. Bye.” With that Cartman was out the door and Stan did his best to control his temper. Normally Kyle was the one with the short fuse.

“That asshole, damn it.” Kyle ran his hands through his curls as Kenny did his best to comfort him.

“If it is any consolation, you are probably the only ten he’ll ever get.” Kenny joked lightly eliciting a small blush to rise on Kyle’s cheeks.

“What about Heidi? “ Kyle asked as Kenny was lost in thought for a moment.

“Heidi is gorgeous but she doesn’t count cause she left him for you.”

“Yeah, than she left me for him again.” Kyle was always insecure about his looks. Just the thought of being a ten was impossible in his standards. Even his current girlfriend could t convince him he was attractive.

“Dude, that’s because Cartman lied to her and made you out to be manipulative. Unfortunately, Cartman is a manipulative son of a bitch. Wait I can’t say that, Lianne is hot and let’s be real I think she’d be a fun time.” Kenny joked which lightened the mood a lot. Joking that liane was basically the equivalent of stiflers mom from American pie.

“That manipulative son of a bitch kissed me…Jesus, I need to wash my mouth out with soap.” Kyle whined as he brushed at his mouth with the sleeve of his sweatshirt. Stan was still agitated over the whole ordeal. He couldn’t believe that Cartman was willing to expose himself just to piss him off. Stan was smarter than that though, Cartman was an idiot sure but he never did anything without having a motive. It worried Stan that maybe the kiss was a distraction and that maybe Cartman did record him. That thought alone made Stan freak out, and he hoped to god he was wrong.

“You don’t think Cartman…like…did this intentionally, do you?” Stan spoke up skeptically as Kenny and Kyle exchanged looks.

“Cartman is know to do lots of nonsense shit to get things he wants. But I wouldn’t say he intentionally kissed me because that would me mean he likes me and that would just be so gross. Plus when he got here I confiscated all his shit so he didn’t have anything on him when he was chilling. I literally hid everything.” Stan was relieved Cartman didn’t have anything on him when he was confronted. A small part of him; however felt his heart ache at the thought that kissing another guy might be gross to Kyle.

“Why would it be gross, the lard ass likes you. You should be flattered.” Kenny was teasing with his gestures. Kyle glared at him for even saying that Cartman had a crush on him. Kyle would rather forget that even happened.

“Because it’s Cartman! Plus I have a girlfriend.” Kenny decided to pry a a little further as he opened his mouth for his follow up question.

“What if it was just another guy in general who kissed you? How would you feel?” Kenny’s line of questioning made Stan want to grab Kenny and shove him out the door. He didn’t want his feelings to be made obvious, especially since they didn’t know.

“Honestly, I don’t think I’d mind as long as it’s not Cartman.” Kyle scowled as meticulously went through each movie they had set up to watch before the incident.

“So you’re saying I have a chance.” Kenny waggled his eyebrows in a joking manor. Stan chuckled lightly for once at the joke, he was already on cloud nine thinking that he may have a chance.

“Only in your dreams. But I got a few movies here for us to pick from. So I got jon wick chapters 1-3, sonic the hedgehog one and two. I also have cabin in the woods, a quiet place, and we got lots of marvel movies to pick from.” Stan had to admit the choices that Kyle had were solid films. Stan however had a hard time choosing between them.

“I think we should watch spider-man, specifically no way home.” Kenny smiled as Kyle and Stan’s faces dropped.

“Dude, how emotional do you want us?” Stan spoke up as Kyle placed a hand on his shoulder to steady himself. Stan himself didn’t feel as sturdy as Kyle was hoping he’d be.

“I’m just kidding, but maybe we should do the classic spider man with Toby?” Kenny suggested as Kyle and Stan didn’t oppose to it. Toby was a part of their childhood. They remember their parents playing his movies to them when they were kids. They were incredibly cheesy for their time, but they were classics for a reason.

As the movie played, they all got comfortable on the couch to watch. Without Cartman there, it was unusually quiet. It was a comfortable silence not having to worry about Cartman saying things that would set them off. Stan found it ethereal not having Cartman around, plus now he can finally stop thinking about the stupid kiss. He didn’t understand what Eric was trying to pull, was he trying to get him upset on purpose? He shook his head as he glanced at Kyle who was super into the movie. Plan to try and test the waters was a bust the moment Cartman started causing his normal nonsense.

Stan let out a small yawn as he felt an arm pull his head closer. He was to tired to care what was going on at this point.

Kenny looked over to see Kyle place Stan’s head on his shoulder with his arm wrapped around him. Stan had fallen asleep by this point and Kenny wanted to smack him. Kyle literally showed he might have feelings for Stan right at this moment and the boy didn’t even see it. Kyle was blushing for gods sakes and Stan missed it all. Kenny was ready to just die again if it meant not dealing with this tonight. He’d just be back the next day anyway, but he had promised Stan he’d stay. He hated how much he cared about these idiots.

Bzzzzz. A phone went off as Kyle picked up his cellphone, a dopy grin on his face as he read the text message. Kenny could only assume it was Lucy.

From: Lucy 🥰💕☀️
To: Kyle 🥰💕⛈️

I figured out how to change our names with the phone! Look how cute the emojis I set are! I hope you’re having a good time like I am. This wedding planning is beyond boring. Can’t wait to go to the party tomorrow! 🌈

Kyle grinned as he read the message. He felt guilty for placing Stan on his shoulder just because he wanted him close when he had such a caring girlfriend. He knows that she said if Stan did ever return his feelings she’d back away and they could stay friends. This didn’t stop Kyle from feeling like the worst person ever for seemingly leading her on in a way. He knew she already knew but it just felt like he was.

To: Lucy 🥰💕☀️
From: Kyle 🥰💕⛈️

That’s awesome! I can’t wait either. Especially to hear that song you wrote 🤘🏻

Kyle sighed as his phone rung one last time notifying him that Lucy had sent one last text. He planned to respond to her in the morning.

From: Lucy 🥰💕☀️
To: Kyle 🥰💕⛈️

I can’t wait for you to hear it! I wrote it for you and took inspiration from my brother and wife. I’ll see you tomorrow, and have a good night 💤

Kyle chucked as he felt another weight on his other shoulder suddenly restricting his movement. He did not anticipate that Kenny would also fall asleep on him. He sighed since he knew it be time to have everyone turn in for the night.

Kyle gently shook both of them as he led them upstairs, turning the movie off as he did. Kenny grabbed his sleeping bag and Stan ended up just collapsing on Kyle’s bed. Kyle laughed as he maneuvered Stan’s body so he could hop into the bed as well. He smiled as his eyes began to droop sending him into sweet unconsciousness. He failed to recognize the warm body that had maneuvered closer to him. Nor did he notice how he subconsciously wrapped his arms around the other body.

They all were dead to the world but Kyle and Stan had no idea what they’d be waking up to the next morning as they held on to each other in their sleep.

Chapter Text

Tangled limbs and the smell of pine wood trees and crisp rain water. The sun began to peak through the curtains as Stan felt himself stirring from the brightness that assaulted his line of eyesight. It didn’t properly register in his mind that he was encased in an embrace by another warm body.

The immediate panic he felt as the close proximity of his super best friend made him shove the unsuspecting party off his bed. The action alerted Kenny who had been peacefully having a dream about the big boobed blonde from his cheesing phase.

“Yo, what the hell! I was having the best dream and you fuckers ruined it.” Kenny complained as Kyle whom was the pushed off party rubbed the back of his head. Stan winced knowing that he had caused Kyle to hit his head off his nightstand.

“Dude, why’d you push me?” Kyle seemed agitated. Stan knew not to provoke an already annoyed Kyle. When Kyle was annoyed about something, any little thing could cause his short fuse to go off.

“Sorry…I had a nightmare…about some windegos…they looked freaking vicious let me tell you.” Stan tried his best to come up with a lie on the spot as to not alert Kyle of the true reason.

“We didn’t even watch anything last night about windegos…why the hell did you have a dream about them?” Kyle’s face scrunched up as he tried to think of when windegos were even brought up to cause a dream like that.

“Yeah….that’s my fault dude. I may have played until dawn the night before. Truly freaked me out.” Stan lied hoping that Kyle wouldn’t pick up on that. He never played until dawn. Stan also loved horror so it was another flaw to his lie. Why would something he loved freak him out? Plus now he would guaranteed he’d get spoiled on the game from his best friend who did play. All and all, Stan regretted his makeshift lie. The lie had to many holes int it.

“Dude! You finally played! That’s awesome, although I can’t believe they freaked out mister horror lover. They freaked me out but you know I don’t do horror much. “ Kyle replied as Stan took a breathe he didn’t know he was holding. That was until Kyle asked him a question and was hoping he could bury himself in the sheets and disappear.

“Who was your favorite character?” Kyle was known to get overly excited over things. When air soft was popular, Kyle was talking so fast they swore his father had an aneurism.

“My favorite was Josh!” Kenny brought up as Stan thanked him for taking the attention away from him.

“Dude, why? Sam was obviously the best character right Stan?” Kyle looked at Stan with pleading eyes. He could have melted right there with how his friends emerald green eyes stared through his soul. His eyes truly were breathtaking.

“Oh no! Do not involve Stan to come to your side for this. Josh had mental health issues and lost his sisters, he was put through so much. Plus Sam is fantastic, Chris was a solid choice as well. Ashley was cute. Emily was a bitch but I can admire her damn near hard work and life saving skills. Like they had lots of great characters don’t get me wrong but Josh was just Josh. He deserved so much more than what he was delt.” Kenny reasoned as Kyle nodded taking his point with a grain of salt.

“I suppose you are right there. Stan, who did you like the most?” Kyle tried to ask again as Stan inwardly thanked Kenny for revealing some of the names of the characters.

“Oh…probably….Chris?” Stan said it with hesitation, trying to commit to his lie.

“That’s fair he was a wholesome dude.” Kyle reasoned as he looked at the time.

“I’ll be back guys, I got to go pick up Ike. Did you guys want me to pick us up some breakfast Burritos? “ Kyle asked as he ran over to his closet to rummage for some clothes.

“Dude, hell yes! I can go for a burrito!” Kenny shot a fist in the air in victory as Stan laughed.

“Awesome! I’ll bring some back than.”Kyle laughed as he removed his shirt and pants. Not realizing how a certain super best friend was watching his every move with bated breaths.

Stan knew he shouldn’t be watching Kyle. Kyle the one who had a girlfriend, the one who didn’t like him back. He didn’t care what Kenny said, he was wrong. He felt himself getting slightly aroused as he stared at his super best friend. He didn’t stop staring till Kenny walked him with a pillow, whispering not to be so obvious.

“I’ll be back!” Kyle suddenly called out, bringing Stan’s attention back to a now fully dressed Kyle. He did his best to mask his disappointment.

“Hurry back! My bed gets lonely with out you!” Kenny called after acting dramatic as he always did. He loved teasing his friends, and loved the reactions that came with it. Kenny soon realized that comments about Kyle would be drawn to a minimum anymore since Stan took the liberty to smack Kenny as soon as Kyle left the room. That moment he realized that Stan was going to be an overprotective and jealous type. He already knew from the reactions he had but now that he knew that he was in love with Kyle. That meant a whole knew reaction. Something’s he wouldn’t react to before would cause a reaction now.

“Dude, you didn’t have to hit me. I’m not going to bone Kyle. What kind of friend do you think I am? Is this what you truly think of our friendship. You wound me.” Kenny kept his remarks upbeat despite being a bit peeved he got hit.

“Sorry, I just don’t know what came over me.” Stan remarked as he pressed his face into his palms.

“Dude, it’s fine. You’re in love. I’d probably react the same way if I was in love with someone.” Kenny commented as he did his best to comfort Stan.

“I know I am but just all of it sucks. This is just so shitty dude. Lucy has been nothing but kind and considerate to me and I can’t help but hate her. I’ve been acting out more than usual over the smallest things regarding Kyle.” Stan cried out growing increasingly embarrassed from another issue that had so conveniently popped up.

“Listen, it happens. You are only human and those feelings don’t make you any less human. Same with how you watching Kyle undress made you pop a boner.” Kenny was so casual about it that Stan couldn’t help but be more flustered at his approach. “Dude, nothing to be embarrassed about. We all do it, we are guys after all. It goes hand and hand with the human thing.”

Stan grumbled as he awkwardly got up to ran to the bathroom. He definitely needed a cold shower and he’d rather be ready when Kyle got back home with his brother. His brother whom through the years despite being the younger of the two, was overprotective and possessive of his older brother. He remembered moments when Ike would purposely steal Kyle’s attention away just so that Stan and him weren’t sitting in close proximity. He dreaded the moment the boy came through the door with his best friend. Not because he didn’t like Ike but because that also meant he couldn’t be close with Kyle like they had been before he left. The thoughts of how close they had been together all night made him wonder if he didn’t panic if he could have pretended to sleep just so he could be cuddled up in his arms longer.

Kenny and Stan both got their bags packed and ready for the day, they did have a party later after all. It felt like forever before Ike and Kyle wandered through the doors. Ike seemed agitated by something the moment he walked through the doors. Stan couldn’t help but wonder why that may be.

“Ike, please stop sulking!” Kyle yelled as Ike flipped him the bird before running into the kitchen, bag of food in hand.

“Yo, what was that about?” Stan questioned as Kyle sighed handing the bag of food to Stan in return.

“He’s upset about me dating someone. When we were younger he didn’t really care, but now he just sees it as us growing apart. He thinks that if some girl or boy takes me away, than I won’t hang with him anymore.” Stan couldn’t stop the grin on his face as Kyle mentioned if a boy took him away. This meant that Kyle and him had a chance.

“I get that! That’s how Karen has been lately. It might be a younger sibling thing.” Kenny commented as he shoved his hand into the bag Stan carried to grab his burrito. “Hey, do we owe you?”

“Kenny, you’re poor dude. You definitely don’t owe me a cent.” Kyle joked as Kenny pretended to be offended. Stan couldn’t help but laugh at the two of them as he too grabbed his food out the bag.

As soon as the three sat down in their spots from the day prior, Ike came bounding out of the kitchen and shoved himself between Stan and Kyle. The immediate glare Stan got from the boy’s younger brother was enough to kill. Stan wondered if maybe Ike knew he was in love with his brother and decided to cockblock him because of it.

“Ike, that was super rude.” Kyle scolded as his brother cuddled up closer to him on the couch. Ike was never this clingy before, but Stan supposed it was due to the fact they were getting older and had less time to spend together.

“So what do we wanna do?” Kenny mentioned between mouthfuls of food.

“Kenny don’t talk when your eating, that’s gross dude? “ Kyle grimaced. He always had a thing about people eating with their mouths opened. Stan laughed knowing that Kyle was a bit of a germaphobe as Kenny started to chew with his mouth open on purpose, closing in to Kyle’s face.

“How about we go shopping? We can get some new clothes for the party. I can finish writing my song I’ve been working on too.” Stan suggested as Ike glared at him once more. He really missed when Ike would smile at him.

“I can use some new clothes for sure; Kyle wanna be my sugar daddy? As a Jew you’re really good with money.” Kenny joked earning a glare from Ike and one from Stan as well. Normally that joke he would have laughed at but any type of flirting with Kyle just made him mad. Stan gripped tightly to the remainder of his burrito as he aggressively took additional bites.

“Kenny, sorry but you’re not my type. Sorry you had to find out this way. I will however help you get some new clothes because I want to help.” Kyle always had an exceptional moral compass. He always loved helping those in need, and always wanted to do the right thing. Kenny appreciated that, but always felt bad like he was taking advantage of Kyle’s kindness.

“You really don’t have to do that. I was just joking.” Kenny laughed as Kyle simply insisted and it was end of story. When Kyle set his mind to something, he would just get the job done no matter what.

“Ike, are you ok to be by yourself for a little while?” Kyle decided to ask his brother who was pressed against his side like leach.

“Can’t I go?” Ike decided to ask as he gave the puppy eyes. It was one of Kyle’s many weaknesses, but Stan just wanted the opportunity to spend time with Kyle without his little brothers interference.

“Sorry, but it won’t be that fun little dude. We are just buying clothes. You’d have way more fun being home, plus once we are done you’ll have your brothers time all to yourself till the party tonight.” Stan explained to Ike as the brother simply nodded seeming to understand. Stan chopped it up to the fact that he’d have some brotherly bonding time with Kyle afterwards.

“I’ll be back home soon, and we can play some video games or something till I have to leave.” Kyle brought up as Ike nodded suddenly mood changed and lips brought into a smile .

“Alright, we’ll if you losers are done. Let’s go shopping!” Kenny got up from his seat as he glanced down at the other two.

“Just give me one minute, I just need to call my parents quick. They are suppose to be home tomorrow, but mom wanted me to call her.” Kyle brought up showing his phone to the group.

“Dude, don’t sweat it. Go take the call, Kenny and I will just take our stuff next door to my place quick.” Stan said standing up as he grabbed Kenny’s arm to drag him towards the door where they had dropped their bags off.

“That’s fine! See you guys in a bit.” Kyle announced as he hit dial to call Sheila Broflovski.

The phone had rung a few times as Kyle waited for an answer. Suddenly he heard his mom answer the phone, and she seemed rather frazzled at the moment.

“Bubbie, what’s the matter?” Sheila’s voice came through the phone, voice laced with worry.

“Oh, nothing mom. You just wanted me to call you today.” Kyle chuckled as his mother suddenly understood.

“Alright bubbie, everything is going ok while we are gone? Ike isn’t too much trouble is he?” Kyle was suddenly bombarded with millions of questions.

“Ike is fine. And everything has been great.” Suddenly Ike yelled out announcing to his mother on the other line that Kyle had a girlfriend. Kyle wanted to hit his brother for revealing that to their mom. His mom who was a bit overprotective and would now give him the third degree.

“Bubbie! You are dating! Who’s the girl? Is she Jewish? You know how happy we’d be if it was a nice Jewish girl. Although, we’d be alright if you dated a nice Jewish boy as well. We just want you to be happy after all, Bubbie. Although we always thought you and Stan would be together one day.” Kyle blushed at the mention of Stan. He appreciated that his mom was being so supportive regardless of gender.

“Stan’s not Jewish, mom.”

“We would appreciate someone Jewish bubbie, but if they are not…that’s perfectly fine as long as your happy, bubalah.” Kyle chuckled lightly as He couldn’t stop the smile on his face.

“What about dad?”

“Your father may not be as open about it as I am, but he takes time to get use to those ideas. He will come around, because I’m the end he just wants you happy as well. Now, we will be back tomorrow morning. I know you have that birthday party tonight, so be safe. Ike is suppose to stay with one of his other friends tonight, so make sure you drop him off before the party. “ Sheila mentioned as Kyle raised a brow at Ike.

“Sure thing mom! Goodbye and I hope you guys enjoy rest of your trip. Love you.” Kyle said as Sheila said I love you back before disconnecting the call. “What friend are you sleeping over at? You said you didn’t have plans tonight.”

“I lied to mom so I can have independence and stay at home by myself. I’m not a kid anymore. I’m capable of handling myself. Mom is always so overbearing sometimes.” Kyle knew is mom could be like that sometimes. She was insanely overprotective of her kids. Kyle smiled as he placed a reassuring hand on Ike’s shoulder.

“I won’t tell her if you won’t.” Ike smiled up at his brother as hugged him to thank him for allowing him to stay home alone.

“I will however be picking you up pizza. I don’t trust you to not burn the house down from cooking. “ Kyle ruffled Ike’s hair as he ran upstairs to get into something a bit different for their shopping trip. There was no way he was going to wear beat around clothes for this.

Kyle ended up settling on a nice pair of skinny jeans, a red muscle shirt with a pair of some red converse. He decided to forgo a jacket today since sun felt a bit to hot on his skin the moment he exited the house. He made sure to leave some emergency numbers on the fridge for Ike just in case.

Stan and Kenny didn’t take too long as they all piled into Kyle’s car to take their usual seats. Kenny this time trying to fight for shotgun but lost the battle when Stan decided to just toss him into the back once he could shimmy the back door open between the struggle.

“You good?” Both sides of his mouth upturning into a smirk as Kyle stared at Stan who was panting after getting in the car. The fight with Kenny took a lot out of the two as Stan shot a glare at Kyle.

“Just peachy.” Was the only answer as Kyle turned on the radio. ‘Shadows of the night’ came to life in the car as Kyle merely hummed along to the tune.

“We’re running with the shadows of the night, so baby take my hand it’ll be alright. Surrender all your dreams to me tonight, they’ll come true in the end!” Kenny sang along in the back as his voice was muffled from his hood cover his face. Stan couldn’t help but smile as he thought of how ridiculous Kenny could be.

They drove along the roads to the mall, it wasn’t to far way. Kyle ended up finding a rather close parking spot after their seven minute drive to the mall. Kyle was so happy to have spotted such a close spot. Each song that played for those seven minutes had been within the rock variety. Stan was happy to have the opportunity to get inspiration from listening to music. He had written a song regarding his feelings of jealousy toward Lucy and his feelings towards Kyle. He had wrote it down all in a journal, but thinking back he realizes if someone read his journal. That person would undoubtably know about his crush. The song wasn’t too discreet with him simply changing Lucy to Heather. It was a much different song from what him and his band are use too performing.

The group made their way through each store till they stopped at a banana republic. Kenny was already smiling knowing he was getting a free outfit from Kyle’s money. It didn’t stop Kenny from feeling bad, but only a little bit.

“Kyle, you are going to have to try these on. Your ass will look so good in these.” Kenny smirked back at Kyle who’s face was beat red. He loved getting a rise out of the ginger haired boy.

“Kenny, you are absolutely awful. What is your obsession with my ass lately?” Kyle couldn’t help but be confused at the fact that Kenny had been bringing this topic up since beginning of the week. He couldn’t for the life of him figure out why.

“Nothing really. I just think if you got a good asset, that you got to just accentuate more.” Stan couldn’t help but glare at Kenny the entire time he had been talking to Kyle. He really needed to control his jealousy a bit better.

Kyle stuck his tongue out as he grabbed hold of the pants Kenny was holding for him. Stan was nervous for when they got to the dressing room. He didn’t want to make his feelings obvious, he wanted to take them to his grave.

A few minutes later they all individually had picked out a solid two outfits to try on for the party later. Stan was happy with his selections as they walked over to the dressing rooms to show each other. Everything had been going ok with showing off each outfit that they got. That was until Kyle stepped out in the pants that Kenny suggested would highlight his assets. Stan felt dirty as he couldn’t keep his eyes off his lower region. The pants were the right amount of tight without being too constrictive.

“I don’t know about this one. Do I really look good?” Kyle grabbed a piece of his hair as he made a face at his appearance. He was wearing a pair of skinny jeans that Kenny picked out, a white polo shirt, and a black bomber jacket. He had paired it with his black converse he had worn to the mall. Stan was happy that Kyle took off his usual green cap. He loved Kyle’s hair and wish that the boy felt more confident wearing it naturally.

“You look amazing.” Was the first thing Stan said as both their eyes met. Emerald meeting blue in an almost intimate moment shared just between them. Stan swallowed hard as he began to feel awkward under Kyle’s heated gaze. Kenny simply clearing his throat to ease the tension.

“You really do look good, you should wear that tonight.” Kenny said as he fixed himself. He adorned a pair of skinny jeans as well, with orange converse and a red hoodie rather than his usual orange.

“Thanks guys, and Kenny do you ever not go with hoodies?” Kyle and Stan laughed as Kenny poured for a moment before he grinned at the two.

“Hoodies are fantastic, and easy to rip off when trying have closer body contact.” Stan and Kyle blushed still not use to how vulgar Kenny could be at times. Kenny knew this and loved to joke with them regarding it.

“Dude.” Stan said as he realized he ended up picking out the same outfit he had been wearing, but with a red shirt instead of the white one.

“It looks just like what you had worn already, you know the look I said made you look like James dean.” Kenny mentioned as Kyle thought about it and couldn’t help but nod his head in agreement. What he was wearing was definitely James dean esque.

“Should I just get it?” Stan replied as he felt a hand on his shoulder. It was Kyle who was smiling at him with the biggest smile. Stan felt his heart skip a beat.

“I’d say if you already have an outfit that makes you look this good, than save your money and just rewear it. You did look very good on Thursday.” Kyle mentioned as Kenny was gesturing wildly behind him for Stan to see. Kenny already alluding to the fact that Kyle was very much being a little flirty. Stan refused to believe it till he was told otherwise.

“Thanks dude!”

“Should we than get these bought and head out? It’s already getting a bit late in the day and party starts at six.” Kenny commented as he gestured to a clock that was in the dressing room area. The clock read one pm. They had not realized they had even been shopping for that long.

The three of them got their stuff bought and quickly made their way to the food court. They didn’t realize that most of their school had the same thought process as they noticed Craig and Tweek sitting in line at the china kitchen, and a few of the usual girls at the Arbys opposite of Craig and Tweeks choice of food. Kenny took the opportunity to go say hi to the couple as Kyle and Stan figured out what they wanted to get for a quick bite.

“Hey guys!” Tweek responded back with a hello as Craig glared at him and flipped him off.

“What do you want McCormick?” Kenny knew he’d get that response but he had ulterior motives for speaking to the token gay couple of the school.

“Craig ah be nice.” Tweek said. Kenny knew that if Craig got Tweek mad enough that Tweek would be a terror. Hyped up on caffeine and adrenaline, he could be quite the fighter and Kenny had seen it first hand.

“Craig isn’t wrong that I have an ulterior motive for coming over. You see I want to give some assistance to my friends. What would you say is the best way to find out for sure if some bats for the same team?” Craig glared at Kenny again making sure to flip him the bird once more for the question alone.

“Just because we are gay does not mean we have this automatic gaydar.” Tweek grabbed hold of Craig’s hand as the line moves up by one.

“I know that but my friend doesn’t seem to think this guy likes him back. I want to try and prove to him that he does.” Tweek gave a knowing look to Kenny as he sweat bullets from his staring.

“It’s gah Kyle and Stan ah isn’t it?” The twitchy blonde questioned as Craig smirked at Kenny.

“You didn’t say it was Style.” Craig laughed as Kenny looked at him with furrowed brows.

“Style is gah Stan and Kyle’s oh jesus ship name.” Tweek responded as Kenny just grew more confused.

“Style? Like the Taylor Swift song? Not going to lie that’s adorable but why do they have a ship name when they aren’t together?” Kenny was put off by the change of convo but he needed to learn more.

“Everyone knows about it. Most people thought they were already together when they heard Wendy break up with Stan. Kyle dating the new girl was not really thought about when everyone started to place bets on who would get together. We simplified each couples name in the chart to make it easier when they win the money.” Craig explained as realization dawned on Kenny. The whole school had put bids on who would end up together. This meant that he could have been making some money under his friends expense. He felt dirty for considering it but he was broke as hell and needed money.

“How much is the prize for Style?”

“Right now it’s about six hundred dollars. A lot of people are rooting for them. They are getting very close to beating our score. People bet one thousand that Tweek and I would end up dating.” Tweek squeezed Craig’s hand as he squeezed back.

“Who’s in charge of this list in the first place and how many couples are on it?” Kenny was intrigued at who thought of this idea.

“Jimmy is, but I’m not telling you anything else. I only told you who because I know you McCormick. You are poor and would most likely want to place a bet on your friends since you’ll have more control to interfere with the bet.” Craig saw right through him and Kenny figured he would since he was fairly smart.

“You caught me. I do need money but I can’t interfere to much since regardless of what I do, it’s going to be up to them anyway.”

“Fair point. Now please let Tweek and I enjoy our date in peace.”

“Are you guys going to the party tonight?” This was Kenny’s last question as he started to walk away from the couple.

“Unfortunately.” Was Craig’s answer as Tweek shoved his arm. Kenny went back to the two as he noticed they hadn’t gotten in line yet. He noticed the shine in Kyle’s eyes and the way he was looking back at Stan. Kenny could only wonder how Stan was so blind to not want to believe Kyle wants him too.

“So what we decide on?” Kenny questioned as he finally got within their peripheral vision.

“I think we both are feeling some pizza.” Stan brought up as Kenny simply nodded in favor of the choice.

They all grabbed their food before sitting down at a table. Stan and Kyle gravitating toward each other in the one side of the table as Kenny took the other. The entire time they waited for food, Kenny noticed the small touches and glances that Kyle gave Stan. His theory now not seeming to be that crazy as they dug into their pizza.

The three of them discussing more about the party tonight and reminding each other that The last of us premiere is tomorrow. They promised each other they’d watch it together over Stan’s house. Kyle’s parents would be coming home Sunday and no way would Sheila let them watch it there. Sheila wouldn’t want Kyle watching period despite him now being older.

Once they tossed their food out they made their way back to the car. They were all excited to finally start getting ready for the party at home. With the time reading four, they knew that it was time to start getting ready for the biggest party of the century.

Kyle dropped off Stan and Kenny before getting ready himself. He ordered the pizza for Ike and ran out to grab it quick before leaving Ike to fend for himself. He had a few rules for his brother to follow while he was alone and he said if they aren’t followed he would never let him stay home alone again.

The clock now read five forty-five as Kyle started to walk over to Stan’s. They decided it would be better to just walk to Tolkiens, since they all knew that alcohol would be present at the party. Having a car located at his house seemed like a poor choice for some drunk teenagers. After picking up Stan, the two made their way towards Kenny’s home just the two of them.

“It’s been a while since we were alone together. I feel like we don’t really get this kind of one on one time like we use to.” Kyle chuckled as Stan nodded in agreement.

“Yeah, it’s weird not having that one on one time. Maybe tomorrow before the premiere?” Stan suggested, happy that those nausea pills he had been taking are doing the trick.

“Dude, totally. I’d definitely be down for a chill day.” Stan shook his head at his super best friend, failing to notice how emerald eyes were watching his every move.

Once they arrived at Kenny’s, Kenny immediately jumped at the two wrapping an arm around their shoulders. Kyle and Stan laughed at their friends antics, although Kyle had been slightly irritated at the slight pain he felt when he had grabbed on to them.

“Calm down Kenny.” Stan laughed as Kenny blew him a raspberry before squeezing both their asses and walking away. The two boys were red in the face at the transaction.

“You are remarkably horny tonight.” Kyle said as Stan glared daggers at the back of Kenny’s head. He was doing a bad job of keeping his jealousy in check.

“This party is going to be wild and a part of me rather go home tonight no longer a virgin.” Kyle and Stan have each a look.

“No way your a virgin.” Stan was first to speak up.

“That’s one hundred percent cap.” Kyle agreed as Kenny pretended to be hurt.

“Oh wow, you both wound me. It is however flattering that you both think I’m the king of bone town.” The trio laughed as they made their way over to Tolkiens house.

They could tell that they were almost there as soon as they heard the loud music blasting from the speakers and chanting coming from the back. Stan briefly wondered if they were trying to summon a demon with how chaotic they sounded. They walked past the guarded gates to make it to the front door unaware that Cartman had trailed behind them.

“Hey guys! Ready for this mega awesome party?” They groaned as Eric Cartman came up behind them with a smug grin.

“Dude, you weren’t even invited. Get out of here!” Kyle was fuming as Stan tried his best to defuse the situation by putting a hand on his arm.

“Calm down Kahl. Are you just mad because you enjoyed my kiss?” Kenny had to place a hand on Stan’s arm to hold him back now. Kyle was already fuming and even more agitated but Kenny didn’t want to deal with two of his friends fighting with Cartman. His mom would for sure murder them and Kenny wouldn’t be able to shoot his shot.

Tolkien answered the door at that time to let them in, already upset that Cartman had came despite not inviting him. Eric didn’t stop nagging Kyle the entire time with his usual insults about him being jewish. Kyle was holding it together surprisingly very well despite the fact that everyone can see the vein on his forehead.

Luckily for them once an hour had passed into the party, the music had gone up an octave and played Kesha’s love is your drug. Clyde was one of the first people to shout out that they should play some games till the real party starts later. Around nine they had planned for some live performances and some karaoke and Stan could only imagine how that is going to go.

“What are we playing than?” Kenny was the first to ask as Clyde just smiled clearly inebriated already.

“We got a few games, truth or dare, seven minutes in heaven, and we can even do the kings game?” Kyle and Stan exchanged a look at the last option.

“What’s the kings game?” Butters was the one to ask as Clyde held out some strips of papers to everyone.

“Play and find out?” Clyde was smug as the others decided to entertain the brunette. Kyle, Cartman, Kenny, Stan, Craig, Tweek, Tolkien, Bebe, Wendy, Nicole, Red, Butters and Scott were the ones to each take a slip of paper.

“So mine has a little crown on the end, what does that mean?” Butters was again the first to question the games rules.

“So you are king, you pick two numbers and have them do whatever you want. That’s the fun of this game!” Clyde mentioned as the others grew a bit nervous at the implication it presented.

“Oh…I don’t want to make anyone uncomfortable…um maybe five and ten hug each other?” Butters came up with the most innocent one and everyone was immediately hopeful Butters would be king each round.

“Boring…who’s five and ten than?” Clyde drawled as Tweek and Kenny rose their hands. The two quickly embraced as requested as Tweek let out a yell of too much pressure. “Alright, now it’s time to pick again!”

They shuffled the papers again and all pulled out their slips, all inwardly chanting ‘let me be king’. This time it was Bebe who pulled the king paper.

“Oh my god! I know exactly how to make this more interesting. Now who to pick.” Bebe thought for a moment as the people grew more nervous with each passing second. “Six and seven I want you guys to make out for seven minutes.”

Clyde whooped at the change of pace for the game. The others were rather nervous for how intense the game was going to get when half the group was getting rather intoxicated. Minus Stan who decided to stay sober tonight, the fear of revealing to much while drunk was too much. Six and seven ended up being Butters and Kenny. Kenny didn’t seem to care as he pulled on Butters collar to bring their faces closer to each other. Once they started going at it, they got hoots and hollers from the circle as Stan laughed at the eagerness of Kenny.

It wasn’t till Stan felt a head rest on his shoulder that time stood still for a moment. Stan didn’t dare look over, already knowing who it was as he felt two arms wrap around his body in a hug. Kyle was known to be quite clingy when drunk, his usual demeanor which was full of anger softened up with alcohol. He was like a whole new person. He was more clingy but it did not help Stan’s restless heart.

“The jew and the hippie how cute.” Cartman’s voice was grating. Laced with jealousy and anger as he saw how Stan jumped at him directing everyone’s attention toward the two.

“Isn’t Kyle dating that Lucy chick?” Craig questioned, his arm draped over Tweek’s shoulder.

“Maybe gah they broke up?” Tweek supplied as Stan got increasingly more nervous at the insinuations of the group.

“Guys calm down, Kyle is just a really clingy drunk. He’d literally cuddle with anyone.” Kenny chuckled, finally done with his make out session with Butters. Once he sat down, Kyle smiled calling out to Kenny and removing himself from Stan to cuddle up next to the blonde. Stan felt annoyed once Kyle removed his body off of him. Part of him wanted Kyle to stay and the other part wanted to punch Kenny in the face.

“Wow, he really is! Is he just a lightweight?” Wendy responded as she noticed how cute a drunk Kyle actually was. Stan was hoping no one would ever notice how cute he was drunk. That was just the selfish part of him that wanted Kyle to only be Stan’s.

“Yeah he is! Now we ready for next round?” Clyde chimes in trying to get everyone back on topic.

“Alright fine! Let’s go!” Bebe collected the paper slips again as they all gathered around to grab a new one. This time Cartman was king, and he was really hoping that he knew what number Kyle got. It be easier to get Kyle to do something while he was drunk.

“I want number eight to kiss me on the lips.” Cartman smiled as everyone choked on their own saliva at the thought of kissing Cartman. He would normally be offended but he was hopeful a certain ginger got that number. He was paying close attention to everyone’s numbers and was sure he saw the number Kyle got. Stan grabbed hold of Kyle’s number and let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding. Cartman got Kyle’s number wrong and now someone else was going to be kissing him.

“Ew.” Red yelled out as she revealed she was number eight. “Anyone want to switch?”

“I mean if you switch with the jew, I can accept that.” Cartman brought up thinking he was fooling everyone with what he really wanted.

“The fuck you are, you already kissed him without permission, you ain’t getting another one when he’s like this.” Stan was mad, and he couldn’t help it. He wasn’t about to let Cartman take advantage of the situation.

“Seriously Cartman!? You did that to Kyle. That’s low!” Wendy snapped as everyone glared at the boy.

“Jesus get off my back, I was only teasing and joking. It wasn’t serious.” Stan felt his temperature rise higher. He was mad and with Kyle to drunk to notice, he wasn’t there to calm him down.

“Bullshit! He didn’t want that kiss, and you forced it on him. Stop playing the god damn victim.” Wendy took this moment to rush over to her ex. Placing a reassuring hand on his shoulder which seemed to bring him back slightly. He must really seem pathetic in her eyes for her to help him with the breakup still fresh.

“Fine. Eight can just give me a kiss on the cheek ok?” Cartman gave up as the tension began to get unbearable. Red sighed as she walked over to finish the request of the king.

“Ok, the tension got real fierce there, maybe we should switch the game?” Clyde suggested as everyone seemed to be ok with a game change. Hoping that it could ease the tension.

“That seems like a good idea, I don’t want to see Marsh blow a gasket, even though watching Cartman get beat up would make me so happy.” Craig smiled at the thought.

“We can play truth or dare?” Bebe suggested as she grabbed an empty bottle from one of the drinks that had been finished.

“Who’s going first?” Clyde questioned as Bebe shot him a look. “I meant to say Bebe my super amazing girlfriend is going first!” Bebe smiled as she pecked Clyde on the cheek.

“Alright! Let’s see who we get!” Bebe spun the bottle as it landed on Wendy. She smiled as she uttered the words ‘truth or dare’.

“Truth.” Was Wendy’s reply which elicited some groans. Most wanting her to choose date and make the party more interesting.

“Who do you have a crush on?” Stan was a little confused by this question. Wendy and him had just broken up so why would she be crushing on anyone new.

“Skip.” Wendy replied and this got everyone’s attention.

“Wait you like someone that’s not Stan? Do we know him?” Clyde was the first to start the questioning.

“Clyde let’s not discriminate, it could be that the person is female or non binary.” Bebe suggested as Wendy got more flustered by the minute.

“I rather just do the penalty.” Wendy replied as Clyde thought for a moment for what the penalty could be.

“Ok so for this game, the penalty for not doing a truth or a dare is to remove one article of clothing.” Bebe hit him for the suggestion until she found herself agreeing not realizing that some dares and truths that might occur could end up with someone totally nude.

Wendy removed her shoes from her person as she spun the bottle next with it landing on Kenny. She asked him the same question Bebe had done and without hesitation, Kenny said dare.

“Give me anything, I’ll do it.” Kenny was ready as Wendy tried to think of a good dare. That was when she remembered overhearing a few conversations regarding Kyle’s assets. She was embarrassed for what she was about to suggest but was too drunk to care.

“I dare you to press your face in Kyle’s ass for three minutes since you love it so much.” The hairs on Stan’s neck rose as he began to shake from the mere suggestion.

“You don’t have to ask me twice but I don’t think Kyle would like knowing I did this when he was plastered.” Kenny laughed as Kyle just stared at Kenny before standing up in front of him. Kenny wasn’t about to say no to this opportunity as he pressed his face against perked cheeks. Everyone started dying of laughter as Stan clenched his teeth.

“Best ass in the class!” Bebe whooped as the others nodded in agreement.

“I probably watched the one TikTok we made a bit to much because of that thing.” Tolkien admitted as Red laughed beside him.

“Same dude, I was probably your first seven hundred views.” Stan’s insecurity got the best of him as he was now thinking everyone secretly wanted Kyle despite the fact that they were only complimenting him.

“That’s impossible I was the first eight hundred views.” Cartman commented as he did his best to backpedal once he was getting stares. “I’m not gay.”

“Sure you’re not.” Wendy sighed as the three minutes ended. “Ok Kenny times up.”

“I want to live here forever.” Came a mumble from Kenny before he pulled himself back.

“Your turn!” Wendy called as Kyle sat back down but in someone’s lap. A certain boys lap to be precise.

“Kyle…oh…what are you doing?” Stan questioned as Kyle ignored him only cuddling into his super best friend further.

“How drunk is kyle?” Scott decided to ask Stan as he could only shrug. A little embarrassed at the entire situation.

“Alright, truth or dare….uh I guess Stan?” Kenny commented as Stan saw the bottle was now pointed in his direction.

“Um…I pick truth.” Stan said as he remembered Chef’s sound advice of not wanting to sound to eager.

“Ok, who wrote that note back in fourth grade about Kyle? Was that really you?” Kenny asked. Kenny already knew the right answer but not many others knew it was not Stan’s note.

“That was Bebe. Why are you asking me something you already knew?” Stan commented as everyone laughed with this new found knowledge.

“Kyle has a really nice ass, I was really into him back than.” Bebe admitted as Clyde slipped his hand in hers.

“You like me more though,right?

“Awe, babe you’re feeling insecure I was attracted to Kyle. You know I love you.” Bebe smiled as she kissed him and Clyde smiled back.

“To answer your question, truths are hard to come up with and I had a better dare in mind.” Stan knew Kenny would have had him kiss Kyle or something and he made sure he’d say truth on every single one of his turns.

Stan took the bottle and it spun till it landed on Scott. Scott simply answered with truth and all Stan could think to ask is what was having diabetes like. A lame truth to ask but what else do you ask a kid aside from the obvious who do you like. Scott took his turn and like that time started to fly by with each dare and truth that was done. Craig and Tweek had to make out, Craig and Stan had to swap clothes, Kenny and Butters had to hold hands for a few turns. Wendy even had to kiss Bebe, and yet so far nothing to put of the ordinary till Kyle finally got his turn and said dare when Tolkien had asked. Stan didn’t expect for the guys to dare Kyle to kiss him. Nor did he expect that Kyle in his drunken state would be so gentle as he brought Stan in to kiss him.

Stan was on cloud nine and wanted the moment to last forever. All moments needed to come to an end though as Kyle backed away with his forehead pressed to Stan’s. His emerald eyes looking into Stan’s ocean blue ones. Stan wanted to kiss him again but before he could do or say anything, Kyle backed away and proceeded with the game. Stan decided to hide his face in Craig’s hat till they were allowed to change back.

More time passed as the game started to dwindle and Stan was able to get back into his clothes. The only person who was basically nude was Cartman since most of the dares he got he didn’t want to do. It humored Stan that not more people ended up losing more articles of clothing.

“Stan, did I do anything weird? I’m starting to sober up a little bit. I just wanted to make sure I didn’t make anyone uncomfortable.” Kyle whispered as hot breath brushed against Stan’s ear. Stan shivered as he politely said he was ok. Kyle was known to be a lightweight but he also was able to sober up quicker than anyone he’s known and Stan was envious of this. Stan had given up alcohol a while back due to his drinking problem he had adopted from his father.

“Alright guys, I think it’s time we switch games up a little bit. Seven minutes in heaven anyone?” The time was nearing nine as a couple people started to move away from the game area to make their way to the makeshift stage. This left Kyle, Cartman, Kenny, Stan, Clyde, Bebe and Wendy.

“Kyle, where is Lucy?” Wendy questioned as Kyle smiled at the girl.

“She should be here pretty soon. She said she’d be closer to performance time. She told me that you guys formed a band of your own?” This was Stan’s first time hearing about this. His nerves shot from the idea of his ex and his enemy making music together. Wendy went on to explain that since she had seen her play creep by radio head that she brought up the idea to her during the week. Bebe, Wendy and Lucy than created a small band and had wrote a few songs. Even expressing how Lucy was excited to perform the one she had written for Kyle. Stan just wanted to leave, why should he have to sit here and watch Kyle and Lucy flirt later when he knows that he wants to be Kyle’s instead of the blonde.

Clyde decided to play seven minutes in heaven he was going to drop everyone’s names in a hat and pull accordingly to whom is going in and when. It was Stan’s luck when his name was picked alongside Kyle’s. Cartman had been livid, especially since he got stuck with Bebe. Clyde was exceptionally upset with that one. As each pairing was put together, Clyde decided to have Kyle and Stan go first since Lucy would be here soon and he didn’t want to take up to much of Kyle’s time.

Once they had pushed into the narrow closet, Stan all at once wanted nothing more than to just tell Kyle here and there.

“I don’t quite understand this game as much. I just don’t see the point of locking two people in a closet together for seven minutes. Seems kind of arbitrary.” Kyle mumbled as Stan picked up on the tune of ‘enchanted by Taylor swift.’ He found himself relating to the song as it played.

“It’s not so bad, it gives people time to talk and maybe reflect on shit.” Stan mentioned as he became more aware at how close Kyle really was to him.

“What do we talk about that we don’t already know about each other?” Kyle threw his arms in the air as Stan looked up into his eyes, resolve ever more prominent.

“Kyle, I have to tell you something.” Stan wasn’t ready to lose his best friend but he just knew he’d regret it if he never said anything. And how could he get over him if he kept it to himself.

“What’s wrong Stan?” Kyle was looking at him with those perfect emerald eyes that Stan had grown to love.

“I…I lov…” before Stan could finish, the door was shoved open causing Stan to fall on top of Kyle.

“Damn it! There was no way that was seven minutes!” Kyle yelled as Stan was red in the face from their current position.

“Sorry dude but Lucy is here.” Was the first thing out of Clyde’s mouth.

“Shit, dude did you want to finish what you were going to tell me before I go?” Kyle asked as Stan said it was fine and pushed him to go.

‘Please don’t be in love with someone else, please don’t have somebody waiting on you’ was the part of the song that decided to play as Kyle walked away to go to his girlfriend. Ironic wasn’t it.

Stan’s eyes followed after Kyle as he spotted Lucy, whom was breathtaking as she wore a fiery red dress and black leather jacket and cowboy boots. Lucy had smiled as soon as she spotted Kyle, and Kyle immediately ran to her giving her a kiss and fawning over her. Stan felt sick and without a second thought took his first drink of the evening. Control be damned.

Chapter 7: Wish you were sober

Summary:

Continuation of chapter 6

Notes:

This one was always meant to be a shorter chapter, but it’s a part 2 to chapter 6. I may go back to edit and add scenes later on but at the moment this works perfectly fine.

For Lucy’s band listen to anything by the Veronica’s to get their sound. Since I’m not a master lyricist, I used real artists songs as if they had written them. Heather is by Conan grey and most other songs in the chapter I do mention the artists for. And I could get use to this and everything I’m not are by the Veronicas. This chapter will be edited at a later date so enjoy!

Chapter Text

Stan was on his fourth drink. He couldn’t help it, every time he saw them together he had the urge to drink more. Lucy was currently getting set up for her first set of the evening before they did a karaoke intermission break and Stan couldn’t stop staring at the way Kyle’s arm rested around her waist. He hated this and hated that these emotions had caused him to break his sober streak. He momentarily wondered if Kyle cared since as soon as Lucy got there he was invisible. Kenny was wrong, Kyle didn’t like him back and he was glad he didn’t make the stupid mistake of telling him in the closet.

“So…Kyle won’t be too happy to find out you’ve been drinking.” Kenny brought up as he walked up to the wall that Stan was leaning on. He had been leaning against it brooding and glaring at the blonde near the stage. He would however change his expression when she’d wave at him.

“Who cares, he surely won’t.” Stan was upset and just wanted so badly to just leave the party.

“Stan, that’s the alcohol talking. Why don’t we just head over there. Mingle a little and maybe get you out of this mood ya little grump. Unless you’re upset with me too for what happened during truth or dare. Because it was a dare and you know that I respect you enough not to go further than that.” Stan was upset sure but he didn’t hate Kenny for it. He knew that Kenny and Kyle would never be more than friends. Kenny could just be a horn dog sometimes and had a bit of an obsession with sex.

“Fine.” Was the only response Kenny got and he was willing to work with that as he dragged Stan over to the stage. Lucy immediately saw them and pulled Kenny and Stan in for a hug. Stan wished she didn’t.

“It’s great to see you guys! I’m so excited, I got a small set planned with the girls. Stan, are you performing tonight as well?” Lucy was kind. She didn’t deserve the hatred but Stan’s clouded mind had no filter.

“What do you think bitch.” Lucy just stared at him as Kenny waved him off and stood in front of the agitated boy.

“He’s suppose to be later after the intermission. He said he had one song he wanted to play. Sorry he’s been drinking and he kind of gets more agitated with alcohol and confrontational.” Kenny explained as Lucy nodded before wandering back to finish setting up. Kyle looked over at Stan as he felt Lucy whisper into his ear. Stan already felt awful at knowing that Kyle now knew he had been drinking.

“Stan, you’re drinking?” Kyle questioned as he ran over to him. He could see the way his eyebrows were turned down, that Kyle wasn’t too happy with him.

“Yeah I am.” Was all Stan could manage without blurting something out.

“Dude, you were doing well. You were sober! In retrospect this is my fault. I shouldn’t have tempted you by drinking myself. I should have been a better friend and I’m sorry. But you shouldn’t have anymore.” Kyle said as Stan felt a renewed resilience and chugged his current drink he held before walking over to grab another. Was he being spiteful because he was jealous, yes he was but Kyle couldn’t know. “What the hell dude!?”

“Stop, I can handle myself fine.” Stan was mad and Kyle couldn’t do much to reason with him. Kyle sighed as he walked away from Stan. Leaving Stan to his own devices.

“Wait…I love you.” Was said as a whisper as he babied the beer in his hand.

A few minutes passed and Stan was back leaning against the wall but closer to the stage this time. Everyone had already sat down to enjoy the entertainment. Kyle was sitting front row as he waited for Lucy’s set to start. Stan was mad that he had been so petty before and couldn’t sit right next to Kyle. Kenny however took a stand text to Stan and was being the best friend anyone could hope for. Stan didn’t deserve him.

Moments later Lucy got on stage with Wendy on piano and Bebe on the drums. Lucy preparing her guitar as she got up to the mic.

“Hello! Queens, kings and non binary hoes! This is my brand new band The Cherry bombs. We have a few songs tonight we want to perform. So without further ado. Our first song is called ‘when it falls apart’.” Lucy announced as they all began to play their instruments.

An hour or so had passed since they had began and they were on their second to last song. Stan had been dreading the last song since he knew the song was about Kyle. He didn’t know how it would affect him. He felt a reassuring hand on his shoulder as Kenny gave him a squeeze and a smile.

“Alright guys, as you know my boyfriend is Kyle over there. I wrote a song this week after getting to know how wonderful and sweet he really is and I couldn’t wait to sing this and dedicate this song to him tonight. It’s called ‘I could get use to this.’ “ Lucy began to strum her guitar as a gentle rhythm filled the room. Kyle was staring right at her with the biggest smile. It hurt.

“You make me breakfast in bed, When I'm mixed up in my head, You wake me with a kiss,I could get used to this.” Sang Lucy as she stared directly at Kyle with each lyric she sang out. “You think I look the best, When my hair is a mess. I can't believe you exist. I could get used to this. Because I know you're too good to be true. I must have done something good to meet you.”

“Cause you wrote my name across your hand. When I freak you understand. There is not a thing you miss. And I could get used to this. I'm feeling it comin' over me. With you it all comes naturally. Lost the reflex to resist. And I could get used to this.” This time all three girls sang in unison as the guitar picked up tempo.

“You love the songs I write. You like the movies I like. There must be some kind of twist. But I could get used to this. Because you listen to me when I'm depressed. It doesn't seem to make you like me less.” This part of the song hit home as Stan remembered all the times that Kyle had listened to him during his bouts of depression. He also hated to admit that the song she wrote was rather good.

The song continued on with the same chorus as she directed all her attention to Kyle during the entirety of the song’s. Her eyes were shining as she couldn’t keep her eyes off of him the entire time. Stan had to say he felt the same way since during the song, all he did was look right at Kyle. The song slowly came to an end as everyone applauded the song with renewed vigor.

“You guys are amazing! A terrific audience. We have one last song to play before we end our set. Now this song is about comparing yourself to someone else when the person you like might like someone else. This song I worked on with Wendy. She drew from her own experiences and we hope you like it. This is our last song ‘everything I’m not.’ “ Lucy announced as Stan grew nervous at the mention of his ex Wendy writing the song. Kenny also have Stan a nervous look. They both knew that if this song is what it is that Kyle being as smart as he was might pick up on the fact that Wendy broke up with him over him being in love with his super best friend.

“Oh no…Don't go changing. That's what you told me from the start. Thought you where something different. That's when it all just fell apart. Like you're so perfect. And I can't measure up. Well I'm not perfect. Just all messed up.” Lucy sang as she hit all the notes in the song. Wendy and Bebe were providing all the back ip vocals for her till the chorus. Than Wendy took over while grabbing onto her second instrument, a base guitar and strummed like her life depended on it.

“I was losing myself to somebody else, but now I see. I don't wanna pretend, so this is the end of you and me. Cause the girl that you want, she was tearing us apart. Cause she's everything, everything I'm not.” Wendy sang the chorus as she felt her eyes drift between Kyle and Stan. Stan couldn’t help but feel Kyle’s gaze land on him with an expression full of confusion.

“It's not like I need somebody. Telling me where I should go at night. Don't worry you'll find somebody. Someone to tell how to live their life. Cause your so perfect and no one measures up. Yeah…all by yourself. All messed up.” Bebe sang this part of the song as she was sweating bullets from drumming to the beat of the song. By this point Stan felt everyone turn to look directly at him as if putting two and two together.

The girls kept playing completely oblivious to the chaos they single handedly caused. One the song had ended, Wendy noticed that everyone was staring at Stan. She definitely needed to nip this in the bud now.

“I want to let everyone know, the song is not about Stan.” Wendy announced in the mic as everyone turned back toward the band before hooting and hollering and asking for an encore. Wendy’s eyes met Stan’s as he whispered. ‘Thank you.’ Wendy smiled as she looked over at Lucy and Bebe interacting with each other. Wendy did use Stan as some inspo but she may have been in a similar situation now with her new crush.

“You were amazing!” Kyle commented as he swung Lucy around in an embrace.

“Thank you. I guess everyone is going to want to go straight to the karaoke intermission.” Lucy laughed as before they knew it ‘poker face’ by lady Gaga was blasting towards the speakers with the lyrics popping up on the screen. Cartman was quick to take the mic once they had ended their set. Kyle chuckled as he explained to Lucy why him picking this song was funny. Apparently Cartman was a big Lady Gaga fan and had sang this song every year on rock band for the past few years. So it wasn’t to surprising when he started to sing it again.

As the night wore on Lucy and Wendy had taken the mic again to do a rendition of ‘you’re so vain’. Kenny had even dragged Kyle into singing sincerely me from dear Evan Hansen. Everyone laughed when Kenny rubbed his nipples when the songs iconic line came on. Everyone was having a blast except for Stan who was now on his seventh drink and starting to get worse for ware.

Jimmy was next to the mic now and performed ‘too sexy for my shirt.’ This illicited a lot of girls to scream for Jimmy to take off his shirt. When Scott went up, he ironically sang ‘Sugar Crash by elyotto. Tolkien sang Frank Sinatra’s I did it my way. Even Craig and Tweek sang a duet ‘I’ve had the time of my life from the movie dirty dancing. Craig even had Tweek run to him and did the whole dance routine. It was quite impressive but Stan was too far gone to enjoy this. His inhibitions were out the window and at this point he had no will power to stop himself if he tried to kiss Kyle.

When Clyde and Bebe took the stage with don’t go breaking my heart, Stan had finally had enough and interrupted their performance to the irritation of Bebe. Everyone looked on with confusion as Stan decided to grab Lucy’s guitar and got near the microphone.

“Stan?” Kyle questioned as Kenny did his best to try and get Stan to stop but to no avail.

“I wrote a song too. Taking inspiration from Kyle and his girlfriend.” Stan slurred, with slight irritation lacing his voice. Lucy looked up at Kyle who was as equally confused as her. “It’s called heather.”

He began to strum the guitar not noticing that Cartman had been rummaging through his belongings. His drunken state probably wouldn’t have noticed regardless.

“I still remember the third of December, me in your sweater. You said it looked better on me than it did you. Only if you knew how much I liked you. But I watch your eyes as she walks by. What a sight for sore eyes. Brighter than the blue sky. She's got you mesmerized while I die.” Stan sang as he stared directly into Kyle’s emerald green eyes. The next lines came as a shock to the couple as he continued the song.
“Why would you ever kiss me? I'm not even half as pretty. You gave her your sweater, it's just polyester. But you like her better. Wish I were Heather. Watch as she stands with her, holding your hand.Put your arm 'round her shoulder, now I'm getting colder, but how could I hate her? She's such an angel, but then again, kinda wish she were dead.”

Stan continued to perform as everyone at the party grew quiet. They all knew the implications Stan was presenting them with with this song. Once the song had ended he set the guitar down and stared at Kyle who was just in shock. Cartman had other plans though as he marched up on to the stage with a little black tablet that looked familiar.

“Dudes, Stan likes Kyle! He crossed out Lucy’s name multiple times and put Heather next to it. This whole song is just his horrible attempt at revealing his true feelings.” Cartman laughed as he showed everyone and suddenly Stan felt his legs moving as he ran through the crowds to try and get to the doors. Everyone just stared at him. He wish they’d stop.

“Stan, wait!” He felt a hang grab hold of him. He had hoped it be Kyle but seeing Lucy’s face just made him more upset. He yanked his arm away from her and glared.

“Don’t touch me.” He growled as she just looked stunned. A single tear drop falling from her eye as Stan continued to make his way to the front door. He failed to notice how Kyle had found Lucy and gave her a hug. Or how he had whispered he’d be back and had followed him outside.

“Stan, what the hell was that!?” Kyle yelled after him. They were finally alone in the cold air outside in Tolkiens front yard.

“You tell me.” Stan said as Kyle just yanked at his hair, he had almost pulled it out with how Stan was making him feel.

“That’s my girlfriend, alright, and you basically sang this song that is giving the impression you wish she wasn’t around because you love me? Is that true?” Kyle asked, suddenly the music was drowning him out as wish you were sober by Conan grey came on.

Stan couldn’t bring himself to answer him as Kyle asked him if he loved him again. Stan was just frozen and unable to process his emotions. Kyle glared at Stan and than repeated the question again. Stan didn’t even realize that he had started to walk towards Kyle before he had taken Kyle’s collar and had pulled him roughly into a kiss. Kyle’s eyes blown wide by the shock of it all.

“I love you.” Stan whispered as Kyle couldn’t comprehend any of it. Stan knew that this could ruin their friendship but he was already far gone once he decided to drink tonight. So much for their excursion tomorrow. Kyle probably won’t want to talk to him after today. Kyle smiled softly before pressing his palm against Stan’s chest.

“If only you were sober to mean this.” Kyle’s voice came as a whisper, but Stan’s drunken state had taken Kyle’s response as a rejection.

“Goodbye.” Stan said as he began to run away from the party to get back home so he could forget he even did or said anything. Kyle had tried to catch up to him but swiftly gave up when he realized that Stan was long gone. He decided to stay outside for a moment longer as rain started to pour down.

Lucy stood back as she watched her worst nightmare become true. Stan had returned Kyle’s feelings and so their relationship would be ending. Once Stan had left, despite the fact she was hurting, she knew Kyle needed a friend right now. Lucy wanted to be that friend but instead had got Kenny to go console him.

Kenny did not expect the night to end with him consoling Kyle and a missing Stan. Yet here they were. Kenny wanted to yell at Stan for the shit he had caused tonight but he figured he would speak to him tomorrow morning and try to fix whatever was going on with the two friends.

“Kenny…he kissed me, and told me he loved me. He’s not even sober to remember it.” Kyle cried out as Kenny became annoyed.

‘Are you shitting me!?’ Was the only thought Kenny had. He was beyond pissed. Kyle liked Stan and Stan liked Kyle and yet these two fuckers were walking circles around each other. He had never felt so bad for Lucy and Wendy than he did now. His friends are morons.

“Let me walk you home, and than in the morning we are all sitting down and talking about this shit. You guys are going to be adults about this.” Kenny scolded as he dragged Kyle to his feet before dragging him home. Cartman did not realize that night that he ruined his chance to try with Kyle. Not that Kyle would have said yes.

Kenny took Kyle home before checking at Stan’s house to make sure he made it home. Luckily he did, but he was still mad at Stan for getting drunk like that. He sighed as he looked at his contacts, he had shared a contact with Lucy tonight and took that moment to call her.

“Hello, I might need your help.”

Chapter Text

Lucy held her legs to her chest as she couldn’t help but cry. She already knew the moment Stan had sang that song that it was over. Seeing them together broke her heart. She already knew that it was to be expected and that she had already made a deal with Kyle. She just couldn’t help but fall for him. His kindness, even the way he would get mad was adorable. Her phone rang as she looked down to see Kenny calling.

“Hello, I need your help.” This was the first thing that she heard through the receiver.

“I’m assuming with Stan and Kyle.” Her voice was rough, and Kenny could already tell she had been crying.

“I know it is honestly fucked for me to even ask considering, but I know you made a deal with Kyle. Stan does return his feelings and he fucked up royally tonight. I know I can’t imagine how you must be feeling right now but please try and understand why I’m calling you for help.” Kenny knew Lucy was the best bet to get them together. If Kyle would listen to anyone, it would be her. Normally Stan would fill that spot but considering the circumstances, he didn’t think that would be a possibility at the moment.

“You need me to talk to Kyle don’t you?” Lucy voiced her question despite knowing the answer already.

“I do. He’ll listen to you, and I’ll talk to Stan. I figured they won’t speak to each other unless we set up a way for them to do so.” Kenny brought up but Lucy was too upset to agree to such plans.

“I’m sorry but you’ll have to do this on your own.” Lucy sobbed as she hung up the phone, ignoring the pleading voice from Kenny. She knew she was being selfish but she’d rather be selfish a little longer.

Kenny cursed as he decided he’d need to try and fix things by himself. He knew it was a stupid idea to ask Lucy. She went into this knowing if Stan did ever return Kyle’s feelings than it was over, but she had every right to be heartbroken. Kenny smacked his face at the stupidity of trying to get her help. Of course, she’d be upset. The boy she liked loves someone else and based on the events of tonight. This girl had fallen deep for the ginger haired boy.

Kenny arrived home to go to bed, in hopes of reconciling things the following day between them. They had plans to watch the last of us and he was hoping that they wouldn’t let this ruin that plan. After all, Kenny didn’t have a tv to watch it on, or an hbo max membership. He needed them or at least one of them.

The following day was peaceful, that was until Stan woke up with the worse hangover of the century. He barely remembered what happened last night and decided to check his phone for any type of update. He had about seven messages, he unlocked his phone as he read each one.

To: Stan 😎
From: Wendy 😋

Stan, please call me when you get up. You messed up royally tonight. I know I’m your ex but I still care about you.

To: Stan 😎
From: Kenny 🐣

Dude! I didn’t think anyone would do that while plastered. You fucked up bad, and I also did talk to Lucy last night. She is super upset dude. We need to make everything right. Meet me at my place when you wake up.

To: Stan 😎
From: Cartman 🤬

I did warn you to stay away dude.

To: Stan 😎
From: Tolkien 🤩

Listen dude, last night at my birthday party you kind of did something a bit fucked while drunk. I just wanted to check in on you to make sure you were good.

To: Stan 😎
From: Bebe 👸

Listen, I know you and Wendy broke up but I didn’t realize the real reason till tonight. You really hurt some people tonight and if you show your face to me without making it right, you be missing some teeth.

To: Stan 😎
From: Clyde 🫡

My girlfriend told me to text you that she was serious about her threat. But the guy part of me wants to tell you that you got the mad rizz.

Stan glanced through each message till he spot the very last one from an unknown number.

To: Stan 😎
From: Unknown

We need to talk.

Stan was confused, he already knew he would need to talk to Wendy and Kenny and even responded to others letting them know he was sorry. The unknown number however was not a number he had. He shot off a quick text to find out who it was and within minutes the text message was shot back from the number.

To: Stan 😎
From: Unknown

It’s Lucy.

That was all he needed as he pressed the dial button on his phone so they could talk. He was nervous but he prepared himself from what Lucy possibly had to say.

“Hi, this is Stan right?” Lucy questioned as Stan hummed in response loud enough to alert her he heard her. “Listen, I kind of witnessed what happened yesterday between you and Kyle.”

“What happened between me and Kyle?” Memories were still hazey and he was dreading what she was about to say.

“You kissed my boyfriend. And confesses your real feelings for him.” Stan’s world came crashing down as suddenly those memories were more prominent in his head. He wanted to scream.

“Shit.”

“Listen, I’m not mad at you or anything. I plan to talk to Kyle later about everything. I just don’t want this to ruin your friendship. I want both of you to come out of this stronger. I just wanted to tell you that what ever happens, you have my blessing.” Lucy decided to forgo telling him about the deal. She figured Kyle would want to tell Stan himself.

“Kyle rejected me though, you shouldn’t have to give me a blessing for something that’s not happening.” Stan scratched his cheek as he thought back to what happened. Kyle never did give him an answer. He took that as a rejection.

“Stan, no offense, but you are a real idiot. “ Lucy commented before she had hung up leaving Stan confused.

Lucy was confusing and Stan still didn’t understand why she was giving him her blessing. She was dating Kyle and she would willingly step aside for their happiness. She really was the most bizarre girl in the world. Stan’s next mission was to call Wendy as he dialed his exes number.

“Stan! Thank goodness you called!” Wendy shouted over some music that had been playing the background. “Hold on, let me get somewhere more quiet.”

Stan waited a few moments till the music was to a low hum. “What is it that you needed, Wendy?”

“I don’t need anything, I wanted to make sure you were ok? Last night Lucy had to grab Kenny to comfort Kyle. He was a near wreck and I could only imagine how you were after that.” Stan’s eyes widened at that. He made Kyle cry? Not only that but why didn’t Lucy try and comfort Kyle over this.

“Why didn’t Lucy comfort him?” Was the only thing Stan found himself asking.

“I mean if I was in her shoes I don’t think I’d want to comfort my boyfriend over his feelings for someone else.” Stan tried to think back to his confession. Had Kyle said anything that indicated maybe his feelings were reciprocated?

“Someone else?” Wendy sighed on the other line, clearly frustrated with him.

“For you, you moron. Kyle loves you and you ran off rather than sticking around to talk about it. You really need to stop drinking so heavy. You made so many poor choices.” Wendy scolded as Stan could only think to how happy he was knowing Kyle loved him back. It wasn’t some fake reveal or anything. He truly did love him. Maybe he should apologize.

“Than I have a chance?” Wendy let a breathe she didn’t know she was holding.

“Stan, you under no circumstances will be telling Kyle anything till Lucy and him are able to have their breakup. You will apologize and reconcile your friendship but you must give Lucy time to talk with her boyfriend. It’s unfair to her otherwise. Now, I’ll talk to you later. Lucy is calling me now. She probably wants to talk about what happened. Do the right thing Stan.” Wendy said as he heard the line go dead on her end. Stan couldn’t help but scream into the palms of his hands. It was only eleven and so far he was already dealing with so much. Stan quickly got out of his bed to head over to Kenny’s. Not caring that he was still in yesterdays clothes or that he had not showered or even brushed his teeth. He just wanted to talk to Kenny and fix this.

While Stan made his way to Kenny’s a certain blonde had passed him as he flew by. She pushed some strands of her hair behind her ear as she looked on with sad eyes at the black haired boy who flew by. She wanted to be upset but she knew it was her idea to begin with. She was heart broken but she cared more about Kyle and if he was ok right now than her own well-being.

When she had knocked on Kyle’s door, she remembered him saying that his parents would be back later that afternoon. She would rather avoid meeting them if this was the end of the relationship. She rather not give his parents this false hope. She was sure they’d love their son no matter what, and probably would be happy about Stan being with Kyle. She nearly choked up at the thought as she tried to push her feelings down.

She knocked again after a few minutes of waiting till she heard the doorknob jingle before opening for her. It revealed Kyle who looked disheveled with bags under his eyes as if he had not slept all night. Without a single word Lucy just wrapped her arms around him and let him cry as he leaned on her. She truly cared for Kyle and no matter what happens, she would always be here for him.

“He…he said he loved me.” It was a whisper but Lucy heard him. It solidified what she had heard when she first saw them.

“I know.” Lucy brought her hand up to his arm and started to bring him over to sit on their couch. Ike was sitting down and with one look from the blonde he got up reluctantly and made his way into the kitchen. Leaving the two of them to talk without prying eyes.

“You know?” Was all that Kyle could say as Lucy started to cry. No longer being able to hold it in.

“I…I saw you and…Stan…at the party. I…I overheard…and saw everything.” Lucy explained as Kyle brought her in for another hug as he ran his fingers through her hair in comfort. “I..I know that I said…I know I said it would be ok…but I didn’t think it would…hurt this much.”

“Lucy, I’m so sorry.” Kyle murmured as Lucy just cried into his shoulder. Enjoying the comfort and serenity in this moment.

Lucy pulled away and wiped her tears away as she calmed down her breathing to the best of her ability.

“It’s ok. You and Stan are really good together.” She smiled up at him as Kyle caressed her cheek. She brought her hand up to hold his hand that cupped her face.

“If only he said that while sober. I’m second guessing everything since that was said when he was drunk, Lu.” The nickname he had given her still being used with such familiarity. Lucy smiled sadly as she looked down at her lap.

“Sober thoughts are just drunken feelings. He may have not been sober but he definitely feels the same way. It’s hard for me to let you go because you mean so much to me, but if it means you get to be happy. I would gladly throw away everything.” Kyle brought Lucy in for one last kiss to say goodbye as she reciprocated.

“You are honestly the best. You deserve the world. I’m sorry it couldn’t be with me. Maybe Wendy? She said she had a crush on someone, maybe it was you?” Lucy laughed for the first time since last nights drama.

“Wendy doesn’t like me! She has a crush on Bebe. She wasn’t lying when she said that song wasn’t about Stan. Although considering, it could still be seen that way.” Kyle chuckled at this new piece of information. He hoped Wendy and Bebe would work out but he felt bad for Clyde if it does happen. “Besides, why are you already trying to set me up with a rebound? I am your friendly neighborhood bisexual and I have standards good sir.”

The banter between them felt unreal and as if it wasn’t truly goodbye. Lucy and Kyle just knew that despite this, they can still remain friends. Being friends with exes were rough but something between them felt natural.

“Alright, but if Stan really does mean all that, what do I do?” Kyle asked as Lucy thought for a moment.

“Well, maybe wait and see if he even remembers last nights events first. If he doesn’t, than I wouldn’t bring it up till he does. I’m a bit petty to begin with but if he’s going to put you through he’ll he needs to work for it.” Kyle had to admit Lucy was right. Stan had really hurt him last night. He had publicly humiliated him with the song he wrote than was just going to run away after Kyle was about to tell him what he felt. Yeah he needed to work for it alright.

“I think that sounds like a solid plan. I’m suppose to see them tonight for the premiere.” Kyle mentioned.

“Oh that’s right, the last of us is on tonight. God I can’t wait. That game is gold, but tonight just keep your plans but see what he does. If he says nothing than make him work for it. If he’s too stupid to notice, start flirting hardcore.” Lucy said as a weight was suddenly being lifted off her shoulders.

“I honestly don’t deserve you. Thank you.”

“You don’t but I’ll take you going to my brothers wedding with me as your formal apology. I need a date so I’m not at the kiddy table. Only downside, we have to stay together till the wedding happens. Than after that we can truly be broken up. I don’t want family getting suspicious.” Lucy brought up as she started to walk towards the door.

“Fine! My only questions are a is are we still together only to your family? And b is the wedding dress-code formal, or casual?” Kyle questioned as Lucy merely answered yes and formal to his questions. Like that she was out the door leaving Kyle to his own devices.

Kyle sighed as Ike wondered in to give his brother a reassuring hug. Kyle had told his brother everything that had transpired the evening prior. Ike otherwise wouldn’t have given him and Lucy space. He was however worried about his brother trying to tag along to Stan’s later because of the Stan of it all.

Stan had made it to Kenny’s in record time as he made his way through his house slamming open the door to Kenny’s bedroom without any warning. Kenny flopped off his bed unceremoniously as he flipped Stan off from his uncomfortable spot on the floor.

“You wanted to talk to me, and I really wanted to get it done so I can apologize to Kyle.” Kenny shot him a look as he sat up.

“Nope. You do not apologize to Kyle. He will literally think that you are saying sorry because you didn’t mean what you said. That’s a terrible idea.” Stan sighed knowing Kenny had a point.

“What is your suggestion than rocket fucking scientist?” Kenny pinched the bridge of his nose letting out a deep sigh.

“First off, you were drunk beyond belief. Kyle even was toward beginning of night. Maybe just wait and see if he brings it up. If he doesn’t than we can just come up with a way for you to confess in a not so terrible way. Mostly because I am not letting you ruin the last of us tonight. I’ve waited to damn long for that shot to be dragged into this couple drama thing. “ Kenny didn’t give two fucks what the hell they did. He just wanted them to get their shit together before they hurt more people.

“Fuck. You’re probably right. Plus Wendy said I should probably wait for Lucy and Kyle to break up first.” Stan scratched the back of his head as he stared at Kenny.

“I mean yeah. You’ll be like a home wrecker if you guys get together too soon. All though, it’s probably too late for that since everyone heard that song yesterday. Dude, really? The ‘kind of wish she were dead’, that line was too much. Although it did fit well with the song and tone musically speaking.” Stan groaned. He knew that line would be rough regardless of what he did with it. The fact he told everyone what the song was about yesterday though made him want to hide himself. Kyle had to know that Stan thought of him while sober and not drunk right? He wrote a song while sober that revealed all his feelings clear as day.

“I guess that is fair.” Kenny nodded.

“I did however want you two to talk it out as adults. We are teenagers but we are old enough to know when we need to talk. Knowing you guys, you’ll just blow it off and pretend nothing happened period.” Stan couldn’t even try and defend himself. He knew it was true. Kyle would most likely wait for a response about last night and if he didn’t get an answer he liked, he’d pretend it never happened. Stan himself was no better, he wanted to pretend he couldn’t remember anything to save himself from further embarrassment. They were truly hopeless.

“Speak of the devil.” Kenny commented as he showed Stan the text he received from a certain object of his affections.

To: Kenny ☠️
From: Kyle 😈

Hey, we still on for tonight? 🤔

“Devil emoji, really?” Stan humored him as Kenny chuckled.

“What can I say, I felt it was fitting for his temper. I’m just going to let him know I’m bringing you. I already told him I’d have you both talk. I’m not about to break a promise.” Stan sighed as he looked at the floor. It was tempting to wish for the floor to just swallow him up so he didn’t have to deal with his emotions. “Don’t be thinking of running away. You did this to yourself dude. I tried to stop you.”

“Not very hard.” Stan growled as Kenny waved his hands in surrender.

“Ok not very hard, but I was getting tired of the same old song and dance of will they won’t they. I also didn’t expect you to be that savage.” Stan really wanted that floor to swallow him now. Anytime now.

“I can’t believe I did that.”

“You live and learn, now hurry up and get home so we can head over to Kyle’s. You don’t know how much last night fucked him up. He was a wreck.” Stan hated knowing that he had hurt him. He cared about Kyle and he was the reason he had cried. He had been the reason why he broke down. Stan felt selfish for caring about only how he had felt.

The conversation ended with Stan leaving to head back home to get ready. He had caught Sheila and Gerald pulling into the drive way next door. Immediately rushing inside his house so that he didn’t get stuck in an awkward encounter. He was going to make this right. He was going to talk to Kyle and everything would be ok.

Everything was not ok. As soon as Kenny brought Kyle over, the awkward silence was deafening. Kenny had messaged him earlier saying now that he was joining still they could watch the show over Stan’s house to avoid prying eyes. Sheila was a helicopter mom with a bad temper and she was sure to be asking too many questions if they held it over there. Now that Kyle was here, Stan would welcome that much needed noise.

“I’ll go and make the popcorn. You two talk.” Kenny glared at Stan and gestured for him to take initiative.

“So…how are you doing?” Stan wanted to hit himself for even asking that question. Of course, he wasn’t good.

“Really, Stan?” Kyle was annoyed he was always quick to anger but Stan was not ready to feel the brunt force of it.

“What do you want me to say?” Stan questioned as Kyle threw his hands in the air in exasperation.

“I just want you to tell me what you meant last night. I…just…I don’t know what I want.” Kyle couldn’t bring himself to say what he wanted. Fear of rejection a bit to strong.

“I hardly remember what I did last night. All the pieces of my memory are blurred. I just remember singing that stupid song which I wish I never wrote.” Stan cursed as Kyle’s eyes widened, hurt flowing through them. Stan wish he could just take it back.

“Oh…than let’s just forget it happened.” Kyle whispered as he shot past him. “We can just forget the confession and kiss ever happened. That’s what you want right? We can pretend there isn’t anything between us. We can pretend that you didn’t write that song. We can pretend Lucy and I are still together too if that means that will be normal for you. You hurt me Stan and you just want to erase all of this from happening.”

Kyle knew what Lucy said but as soon as he saw him, all resolve flew out the window. Stan watched as Kyle broke down in front of him. Slowly unraveling in front of him.

“I don’t want that.” Stan wanted to say more but could barely form the words.

“Stan, you already said you wish you didn’t write that stupid song. Despite everything I knew what that song was about and despite the fact you basically wished Lucy dead. I know what that song meant, Stan. You wanted to be in Lucy’s place. I didn’t realize it till I was sitting in my room after having a talk with Lucy this morning over last night. I thought maybe after talking that you felt the same way. But if you want to erase it than by all means we can forget this ever happened.” Kyle was shaking by this point, Kenny peaked around the door to take a look between the two. Secretly happy that Stan’s parents had gone grocery shopping.

“Kyle, I…no.” Stan wanted to hold him closer and just take away the pain he was causing him. Not realizing that Kyle had inadvertently confessed to him his own feelings.

“No? Is that all you can say. I’m sorry I ever fell in love with you.” Kyle snapped as he quickly made his way to the front door. “I guess things won’t be the same anymore, goodbye Stan.”

Stan tried to form the words but just couldn’t as Kyle made his way out the door. His mouth feeling like cotton. Kyle just told him he was in love with him and he couldn’t even tell him he felt the same way. Why was he such an idiot. He heard Kenny yelling to go after him but his feet stayed grounded to the floor. Unmoving.

Was this how he chose to end things. So much for the premiere tonight. Kenny grew frustrated as he shoved past him to run after Kyle. Stan really was an idiot.

Chapter 9: 2 months later

Summary:

Two months later…

Notes:

One more chapter left everyone! Thank you for following this story. I have a few other ones planned so can’t wait to write more.

Chapter Text

It’s been two months. Two months since Kyle ran out that door and since he’s heard anything from Kenny or Kyle. He fucked up and he knew he did. School was even more rough, he would get glared at in the hallways and Lucy who would smile at him would just stare at him with pity. He deserved this for being such a damn coward.

He would see Kyle and Lucy hanging out like they normally did but there was no kissing or any type of relationship there anymore but friendship. Stan wishes that could be him and Kyle again. He wished he never realized how much he loved Kyle or just wishes that he just told him he loved him too. Why was it so hard for him to have said that when Kyle was pouring his heart out. Stan truly was a failure when it came to his emotions.

It was a Friday in December, he had nobody and all he wanted was to just crawl and bed and pretend that he had run after him and things were good again. The school bell rang as Stan made his way outside. He was use to riding the bus anymore as Kyle and Kenny drove in Kyle’s car normally. When Kenny suddenly approached Stan once he exited the doors though, he was in shock.

“Dude, I can’t believe it’s been two months and you still won’t talk to him.” Kenny was sharp in tone as he glared at Stan. Stan knew he deserved it.

“I didn’t know what to say.” Was all Stan could manage. Kenny let out an exasperated sigh.

“Dude, you just had to say I love you too. Was that so hard? What are you so afraid of?” Stan never really thought of what could have caused him to freeze up. In that moment all he could think was if he said those words, would their friendship be the same? What if they broke up down the road? Stan didn’t think he could handle losing Kyle and he was right. By not saying anything at all, he truly lost Kyle.

“I was scared.” Kenny whistled as he engaged with a slow clap.

“Finally, you admit it. Dude, you know I will always be your friend but these past two months. I honestly couldn’t stand to look at you after what Kyle was put through you being emotionally stunted.” Stan knew Kenny was right, but the words cut deeper than a knife. “Listen, we can still fix all of this. Lucy and I have gotten closer over the past two months. She’s really cool and even after what you did she still doesn’t hate you. I would if I was her, just saying.”

“Get on with the actual point.” Stan grunted.

“Ok, so Lucy gave me an extra invite to her brothers wedding. The one she is taking Kyle too, and she has given me permission to bring a plus one. Would you like to be that plus one?” Kenny asked as Stan could only gape at him. Was Kenny being serious? There was no way Lucy would be remotely ok with him showing up and ruining the day with drama.

“Dude, Lucy I don’t think wants her brothers day to have drama.” Stan explained as Kenny walked him on the head.

“Idiot, it’s Lucy’s idea. She wanted me to invite you since it would mean you and Kyle can reconcile. She has been there first hand and knows Kyle is still hurting. She wanted to set this up so maybe you can apologize, and maybe get back on track.” Kenny smiled as Stan looked hopeful for a moment.

“So, I might be able to see Kyle again?” Kenny nodded as he handed the invitation too Stan. When Stan read it he saw that the wedding was tomorrow. “Dude, how the hell am I going to have a suit ready to go to Denver tomorrow. Plus I didn’t even get to rsvp. Don’t weddings take a long time to plan?”

“So Lucy thought of everything. She is buying me the extra entree herself. Which bless her heart, that shit is expensive. I imagine it’s cause of the extra gigs with the band she can afford it. Point is if you had said no than I get extra plate of food, and my family be poor so I’d welcome that. Actually Stan maybe you should stay back so I can still save that entree for later.” Kenny teased as Stan pushed him. Suddenly after two months apart, they were back to their old routines.

“Alright, I guess I’ll go than if it’s Lucy’s idea.” Stan said. “I’ll have to go and get a suit than. So I’ll run now.”

As Stan started to walk away Kenny had called out that they’d be riding with Kyle and Lucy tomorrow. Stan’s heart dropped into the pit of his stomach as he thought about what would happen. His nerves were shot and he felt the urge to suddenly flee the country. Kenny knew Stan all too well though and the following day already had Stan’s bags packed for him and was ushering him out of his bed.

“Maybe I shouldn’t go.” Stan tried to reason as Kenny glared at him and pushed him into the bathroom to get ready.

“Dude, you are going. You need to make things right. Stop being a baby about it.” Kenny sighed as he heard the shower turn on and some music turn on. ‘Shot through the heart by Bon Jovi’ roared from the speakers as Kenny hummed along as he waited for Stan. Kenny’s phone went off as he looked down at the caller ID. It was Lucy.

Kenny answered the phone in record time as he explained the situation to Lucy who let out a very verbal sigh.

“He’s hopeless.” Kenny laughed, Lucy wasn’t wrong.

“I just want him to say what he wanted to Kyle. The fact he waited two months is unreal.”

“Tell me about it. I was so upset at that time but now I honestly pitty the guy. Kyle told me everything that happened and I do have to say I’m not happy with him. I just know that Kyle would be happier spending time with him again. He hasn’t been himself, and normally he’s so vibrant and has such an explosive…personality.” Lucy hesitated as she spoke the last word, which made Kenny laugh on the other end of the receiver.

“If personality is what you want to refer to Kyle’s habit of fighting anything and anyone when they piss him off than sure. I’m honestly surprised he hasn’t hit Stan.” Kenny remarked as he listened in to hear that the water was still going and the next track on the list was another Bon Jovi track. Stan must really like that band.

“Oh trust me, after he ran out that day he definitely wanted to hit him once he came to his senses. Like after you talked to him, he called me up quick and explained what happened and said he wanted to push his fucking teeth in. His words not mine.” Lucy remarked as she remembered the bitter memory.

“When will you guys be here, and does Kyle know?” Kenny pried as Lucy hummed for a moment meticulously planning her next words carefully.

“Kyle, just left to pick me up, so he’ll be here shortly. I didn’t tell him yet. I was going to wait till the bags were packed otherwise he’d run for the hills. I’d say we should be there within the next thirty minutes or so. Be ready.” Lucy warned as Kenny just replied with we will be before they ended the phone call.

Another five minutes had passed since they spoke as the door to the bathroom finally opened with Stan looking as good as new and already in the tux that Kenny had brought. Kenny couldn’t help but stoke his ego a bit by telling him he looked amazing. The wedding would be around 2pm in afternoon followed by the reception at 6pm to give everyone time to check into their respective hotels. Kenny and Lucy planned for them to get together by the time the reception ended. If that happened, they had two queen beds in the room and had already decided Kyle and Stan should share it.

With all their bags packed and with the thirty minutes Lucy said they would be, Kyle pulled up in front of Stan’s house. Kenny already felt the tension as Kyle stepped out of the car. The way Stan’s breath hitched as soon as he saw him spoke volumes. To Stan, Kyle had somehow gotten more attractive since he last saw him. He was not about to waste this moment again.

“You look good.” He blurted out loud as his hand shot up to his mouth as if to cover it. Kyle looked at him for a moment, a hint of a smile on his face as he shook his head. Stan felt hopeful as he went over to help Kyle with the bags. Kyle however glared at him as if to tell him that he was still mad at him. Stan knew he should have never assumed by that smile.

“It’s going to be a long drive, maybe Stan should sit in front with you?” Lucy suggested as Kyle let out a sigh and glared at her.

“Do you really think I’d be ok with that right now?” Kyle was livid. He was upset Lucy didn’t tell him sooner of Stan being Kenny’s plus one. He was not about to have his heart broken again by talking to him and falling in love again, just for him to fall apart again. He was not going to do it.

“Kyle, clearly you both have some unresolved things. I think it be good for you guys to open up to each other. I’m sure this would be good for you.” Lucy tried to explain as Kyle growled at she tried to place a reassuring hand on his arm.

“Unresolved things? He essentially rejected me. There is nothing else to say. So you better sit in the damn front seat of that car and I’ll decide if I want to talk to him later.”Kyle cursed as Lucy simply nodded and walked over to Kenny to explain. Kenny solemnly nodded and shook his head at Stan to notify him that this would be a lot harder work and he’d need to really work for it.

Once the bags were packed, Lucy got in the front seat so as to not anger the ginger bit more. Kenny got next to Stan as Lucy put on Apple music and started playing some Taylor Swift. Kenny knew she was a big fan and didn’t mind it as the album folklore started playing for the car ride down. As they drove, they’d stayed in complete silence, watching as they passed by the mountains till they made it to the busy highway to get into Denver. To ease the tension as they were stuck in traffic Lucy started to sing to the back of the car.

“Would you tell me to go fuck myself, or lead me to the garden…” they were the lyrics of Betty. Lucy’s voice was calm as Kenny decided to join in with them. Kyle gave them both a strange look and when one line in particular came on he heard Stan sing in the back. Someone he’s least expect to sing a Taylor swift song.

“The worst thing that I ever did, was what I did to you.” Those words stuck with Kyle. He briefly wondered if Stan was being sincere with those words. Kyle briefly looked into the rear view mirror when traffic was at a stand still. His eyes widened as he caught Stan staring at him with sad eyes. Stan was always Kyle’s kryptonite and somehow always managed to calm him down when he was mad. Maybe he should talk to Stan and fix this. If Stan didn’t love him that wasn’t his fault and he shouldn’t lose a friendship over his feelings. Kyle cursed as he actually thought of forgiving him just for singing a stupid song.

They got closer to the church as Kyle found a place to park. Lucy got out first to explain to Stan and Kenny that Kyle was pretending to still be dating her for show at the wedding. She also begged them to please be careful since her family could be quite traditional. Explaining that her father still thought that bisexuality wasn’t real and that it was a phase. Stan and Kenny nodded but Kenny especially wanted to punch Lucy’s dad for even saying that to her.

As they walked to the church to sit down, Kenny couldn’t help but joke that Lucy also had a rough relationship with her father like Stan. Stan scoffed and punched him in the arm. Once they all sat down they watched as Lucy’s brother Danny got married to her now sister in law Rebecca. She wore such a beautiful wedding dress that was covered in just the right about of lace from top to bottom. She looked stunning.

Once they saw the couple kiss, everyone clapped and Kyle and Stan glanced at each other momentarily before Lucy dragged them out the doors so that they can go to the room to get unpacked.

It took only a eight minute drive to the hotel as they parked and got checked in. Lucy and Kenny took the opportunity to step out once they got all the e bags upstairs to give Kyle and Stan some privacy. Kyle had to admit he was happy they did.

“Did you mean what you said?” Kyle was the first to break the awkward silence between them. They both had been sitting on different beds just staring at the ground prior.

“You mean the line of the song I sang? Because yeah it was.” Stan admitted as Kyle looked up at him from across the room.

“What was the worst thing you did?” Kyle dared to ask as Stan finally looked up blue eyes meeting emerald green for the first time since the car ride.

“The fact I didn’t communicate to you that I love you too. That I may have always loved you. I’ve been questioning it this whole week because of Kenny. I was so terrified when you admitted you loved me too that I didn’t know how to respond. Instead of actually talking to you, I was an idiot and just kept my mouth shut. I held this in for two months and I never realized how much someone could miss someone when they aren’t by their sides all the time. I love you Kyle and I’ll say it now as many times as I have to if you’d just forg-“ Stan was about to finish his sentence before he felt arms wrap around his neck and pull him into a kiss. Kyle had raced across the room to kiss him. It was almost primal in the way he grabbed onto Stan. The kiss was full of fierce passion and longing. Kyle broke away from Stan as he laid his forehead on his.

“You’re forgiven you damned moron.” Kyle wanted to hear those words so much. His anger quickly displayed as soon as he uttered the three words he had wanted to hear for months, even before all of these revelations happened.

“Just like that? Are you really Kyle?” Stan laughed as Kyle glared at him and said “shut up and kiss me asshole.”

They kissed again this time just as passionate as if it was just the two of them in the world. Kyle had longed for this and Stan equally so. Stan wonders why he was so afraid before when he finally had what he has been wanting for years. They parted once more as Stan’s forehead rested a moment on Kyle’s chest. Both hearts beating like crazy.

“So what does this mean for us?” Stan dared to question as Kyle hit him on the head. Stan complained it hurt as he pulled himself back up to press his palms into the area Kyle hit him.

“You’re an idiot and deserved that punch. Obviously if we kiss and told each other we love each other, that kind of means we should be dating than.” Kyle laughed as Stan’s eyes glimmered with pure joy.

“Dude, I’m so happy.” Stan cried as Kyle scoffed.

“Gay.” Stan laughed as he swung an arm around Kyle’s shoulders like old times.

“But I’m your gay for you.” Stan laughed as he pecked Kyle again on the lips, right at this moment Kenny and Lucy made it back into the room, holding what looked to be white cheddar popcorn.

“Lucy and I went to the minimart across the street for only seven minutes and you guys are already sucking face. I swear turn your backs for a few seconds and they go at it like rabbits.” Stan and Kyle blushed at this before separating from embarrassment.

“Rabbits are quite horny animals. “ Lucy commented as Kyle slapped her slightly on the arm when she walked by to sit on the bed across from them.

“All we did was kiss if you must know.” Kyle smiled as Lucy laughed.

“Thank god, because I did not want to be changing the hotel bed sheets that soon.” Lucy commented as Kenny lost it and fell to the ground.

“Lucy, you are a riot. At this wedding I’m going full wingman for you. We will set you up with Kyle 2.0. I set Stan and Kyle up so I know my potential.” Kenny smiled as Lucy glared at him.

“You mean we equally did this for them.” Lucy supplied as Kenny got up to sit next to her on the other bed. He casually put an arm around her as he said that obviously they are a great pair.

“I wonder who we should put together next, Cartman we could try and help, but oh god will he be upset knowing he lost the jew.” Kenny questioned as Lucy and Kyle looked at Kenny with wide eyes.

“Wait, Cartman her bleh oh god he bleh. He liked me?” Kyle gagged as he tried to speak with this shocking revelation.

“Likes. He still does. Why are you shocked? I told you at the sleepover?” Kenny asked.

“I thought it was a hypothetical thing. Now that I know it’s real. Oh god.” Stan laughed at his now boyfriends despair.

“It’s not that bad, just we may have to be careful with Cartman. He did feel his dad and step mom to his step brother all those years ago. Remember the chili.” Stan commented as Lucy was in a more state of shock.

“Oh god. He’s that terrible? I said he was internally homophobic. What if he tries to kill my brother and feed him to me. Oh lord.” Lucy cried as Kenny hugged her close.

“Nah, you’ll be ok. He’s been pretty tame in recent years. Still Stan should be one watching his back. Kyle was the target so anyone gets in a Cartman’s way. They need to look out.” Stan gave a look to Kenny as he sighed. Kyle put a reassuring hand on his back as he massaged in circles to calm his boyfriend down.

“Oh god. I’m not going to think about it. We have a reception to get to. Right, Lucy?” Stan asked as Lucy glanced at the time. It read Five pm.

“Yes, I need to meet with Wendy and Bebe soon to start playing. We won’t be playing all night though. My brother got a dj for second half so we could enjoy reception. I got a couple covers planned too, if you wanted to help with the ones that have a duet Stan?” Lucy asked as Stan shook his head.

“Not enough time to practice them but thank you.” Stan laughed as Lucy nodded in understanding before leaving to go ahead of them.

Now they just had a reception to get through before Kyle and Stan could make up for lost time. They knew they couldn’t do pta at the reception but they were excited to get back to the room to share in more kisses and skin-ship. Only a few hours to go.

Chapter 10: The Reception

Summary:

The reception- some homophobia ahead

Notes:

This has been one hell of a journey! Thank you for sticking with me through this work. I really hope the ending didn’t feel to rushed but I honestly didn’t know where to go with the ending. It was always intended to be pure fluff. Just mature for language.

If you liked this enough or liked Lucy enough as a character and would like a sequel I would be happy to do it, but right now my current work which is style is folklore. It’s an alpha beta dynamics type of story but I’m making small changes to it like the males can’t get pregnant in the story. And heats do still weaken the omegas the bonding part I didn’t want it to change to much of their personalities so all it does is just make them more protective of each other. But first one takes place in mideval times. Please check it out, and I got other story ideas listed in chapter 4 of the story so let me know what you’d like to see when folklore and evermore are done

Chapter Text

The reception was off without a hitch. Stan let Lucy and Kyle fake their relationship in front of her family. He was so relieved that he and Kyle were finally together. Kenny was mingling with all the single woman, men and everything in between. Stan just found himself watching as Lucy and Kyle would slow dance and how he wished he could dance with him as well.

Lucy kissed Kyle on the cheek as she walked away to meet with Wendy and Bebe who were officially ready for their first set. Even with Lucy leaving earlier to meet them, they were unable to play since the crew was late to help set up the audio for them.

Kyle rushed over to Stans side and smiled at him. “This seat taken?” It was teasing in nature and Stan refused the opportunity to try his luck at flirting. Despite the fact that his nerves were in overdrive.

“Only by you handsome….bleh that was so gross. I will never say that again. That was way to weird.” Stan laughed at how awkward it sounded as Kyle joined in taking a seat beside Stan.

“I’m happy. I think this is honestly the happiest I’ve been the past two months.” Stan looked up at Kyle and grimaced knowing it was hit fault.

“I’m sorry, dude.” Stan apologized as Kyle took his hand in his. Not noticing how one of the party goers had given them a look.

“Don’t apologize. I know you suck at communicating. You always have even with Wendy.” Kyle chuckled as Lucy started to perform their first number. It sounded like a cover of perfect by Ed Sheeran.

“Not with you though.” Stan whispered.

“Hey, do you wanna dance?” Kyle asked as Stan blushed looking around frantically at everyone around them.

“Lucy, she mentioned her family was conservative. I don’t think that’s a good idea dude.” Stan explained as Kyle grabbed his hand and pulled him away from prying eyes.

“I more so thought we could dance away from prying eyes.” Kyle smiled as he brought them to a perfect gazebo that was outside the reception area. Music still playing loud enough to hear, and a perfect amount away for them to not be bothered. “So, wanna dance?” Kyle stood in front of Stan with his hand outstretched. The sunset lighting the freckles that adorned his face and made his eyes even brighter.

Stan was mesmerized by those eyes and simply nodded as he took a hold of his hand. Kyle took the lead and brought Stan’s arm to his shoulder as he took his other and placed another hand along his waist. Kyle was always so awful at coordination and was surprised when he was able to ballroom dance so perfectly as he spun Stan around.

“When did you learn how to dance?” Stan teased as Kyle dipper him.

“I took some lessons to prepare for the wedding. I’m thankful for them now.” Kyle mentioned as he brought Stan back up and spun him in a circle before bringing him in for an embrace.

“I’m thankful for your lessons.” Stan laughed as he looked into his eyes before leaning into a kiss.

Kyle reciprocated as they heard the song start to come to a close. Kyle turned toward the reception area before sighing.

“Well, we better get back.” Stan grabbed a hold of Kyle’s arm to stop him.

“What about one more dance?” Stan asked as he flushed scarlet. Kyle laughed as he took Stan’s hand again and did the same dance they did before but a bit slower in pace.

“I love you, Kyle.” Stan whispered in Kyle’s ears as a wide smile appeared on his face.

“I love you too, Stan.”

A disapproving look was given their way as Lucy and her band did another cover truly madly deeply by savage garden. The man who had been watching the couple glared at his daughter who was on stage. More than prepared to talk to her about what he witnessed.

A few hours later, Lucy had performed the full set with Wendy and Bebe and congratulated her brother and wife on their marriage. Once she stepped off the stage, she found her father waiting for her.

“Dad?” Lucy questioned as she saw behind him that Stan and Kyle were making their way back over. Her eyes widened as she looked back up at her father.

“Care to explain why your apparent boyfriend was kissing another man?” Her father yelled as she shrunk in on herself. Her father never truly understood that she loved men and woman equally and thought it was a phase. The homophobia ran deep with him and she had been an idiot to not have Kenny make sure the two boys were careful.

“Do you want me to lie to you?” Lucy yelled which got the attention of the party goers, even her brother Danny who was looking her way.

“I told you I did not want any of your gay nonsense.” The father scolded her as she glared at him with tears in her eyes. The atmosphere had changed to fun to dark in a moment of seconds. Kyle and Stan had made their way back to them and once they reached Lucy, Kyle didn’t know what to do.

“It’s not nonsense dad. It’s who I am and if you can’t accept it, then that’s your own problem.” Lucy snapped back as she let the tears fall. Kyle and Stan stood idly by not wanting to involve themselves. Knowing that it was between Lucy and her father.

“I did not raise my daughter to be a gay.” He barked as Danny came over to stand in front of his sister.

“And I didn’t invite you to be bigoted.” Danny shot back as their father looked around the room to see all the guests glaring at him.

“You would really choose homosexuality over your own father.” Their father questioned as Danny grinned.

“I will always choose them over you. Can you taste the rainbow dad? Because I think it’s time you got the fuck out.” Their father scoffed at them as he stormed out of the party. Kyle took this time to come to Lucy’s aid and let her cry in his shoulder. “Sorry about our dad, you guys are alright now. It was honestly only ever our dad who was small minded. I just didn’t think he’d cause a scene on our day. I always make sure to keep my father and Lucy separate for reasons, but looks like I’m going to have to disown him completely.”

“Doesn’t Lucy live with him?” Stan questioned as kyle shook his head.

“No, her parents divorced because of his views. Her brother always had a close relationship with their father though and had a hard time letting him go. I guess this time was an eye opener.” Kyle explained as Danny nodded.

“Sorry for ruining your experience. You guys enjoy the rest of the reception.” Danny exclaimed as he waved them goodbye.

“I hope you guys had a good time at least.” Lucy smiled as Stan took Kyle’s hand in his and smiled.

“Thank you, for everything. I don’t deserve this.” Stan said as Lucy punched him in the arm.

“You’re cool, but we just have to teach you some communication skills.” Lucy teased as Stan rolled his eyes.

Kenny ran over to hug Lucy quick to tell her he was sorry her dad was a doushe canoe. She stuck her tongue out at him as she shoved him off.

“Any prospects?” She questioned as Kenny sighed.

“Nadda, Kyle you think I still got a chance with your fine ass?” Kenny winked as Stan punched him in the back knocking it off balance. “Alright, alright I get it! What about you Lu?”

“I had my eye on someone.” Lucy smiled as she spotted a girl with curly black hair staring at her from across the room.

“She’s cute.” Kyle whistled as Lucy shyly smiled as Danny said that she had to perform the last song of the night. She nodded as she told the guys to have an awesome rest of the night.

She got onto the stage immediately and announced that this song was a recent one that the group worked on for the wedding and hoped they liked it.

“You're the kind of friend, Who always bends when I'm broken, Like, remember when. You took my heart and put it back together again.” Lucy sang as Kyle and Stan ran to the dance floor with Kenny to have one last dance.

“I've been wasting time with clueless guys. But now it's over. Let me tell you why I'm through. I've got someone new. He's just like you…” Wendy sang next as all of them took the chorus.

“You're it. You're the ultimate. It's automatic, I'm sure of it. No lie. So don't even try. To tell me that you're not the guy. Cause I've been waiting all my life. For someone just like you. But you're it. You're the ultimate. You.” The group sang as the performed their song together. It was the last song of the night and it was their to end the reception. Kenny ran and grabbed a boy to dance who was shyly dancing with him. Stan and Kyle were in their own world and were happy to finally be together after all this time.

“Can you believe this all started because Kenny told me I have a type?” Stan laughed as Kyle gave him a look.

“You don’t say.” Kyle smiled as Stan laughed at the memory.

“He said you and Wendy are same different person same font. His words not mine. I didn’t even notice till he pointed it out. I guess I’ve always loved you. Kind of cheesy huh.” Stan laughed as Kyle brought his hand to his face and caressed it.

“Never.” Kyle kissed Stan once more as they just enjoyed being together and in each others arms. They had been through to much together to let anything stand in their way. Cartman be damned. They waited to long to be happy and nothing was going to ruin it.

“Wanna go home?” Kyle asked as Stan nodded.

“You’re my home.” Stan laughed.

“Cheesy.”

During story you may see some edits. I’m currently working on correcting some grammatical issues I had not noticed before. So I’ll be proof reading my work a bit slowly but be prepared for some changes.
