Chapter Text
Frisk watched the sunrise. They did it. They had released the monsters, finally. It was all over. Well... That, Frisk knew, wasn't entirely accurate. there was someone who had not been saved.
Asriel, Flowey now, Frisk guessed, was still trapped in the underground. The problem was that Frisk didn't know how to save Asriel. Without the souls inside him, Asriel went back to being Flowey. He would probably keep his original form for a while, the magic within him making it possible, but eventually that magic would wear off, and then Asriel would go back to being Flowey the flower. Mentally it would be much sooner. Even when he retained his memories of being Asriel, without a soul, he would soon forget the emotions associated with such memories. They would be mere concepts to him, something he intrinsically knew should be there, but he was unable to reach.
It was not fair! Asriel had been through hell! He also deserved his happy ending, dammit!
Frisk sighed. There was nothing they could do. Not right away at least. They had noted a number of possibilities along their journey, but they would need time to think, much less carry out any of them. Also, they were tired.
They had barely slept on their little adventure. A nap here and there, but not much more than that.
Well, that had an easy fix, Frisk mused. They would find a clearing at the foot of some large tree to lean against and sleep. After all, for someone like them, the forest at the foot of Mount Ebott was the paradise.
They felt the slight discomfort of their shadow due to the arrival of the sun, but they did not care. They would be fine. After all, they were a living creature, thankfully. Furthermore, the six human souls gave them strength and stamina beyond normal. "Okay. Bedtime, Frisky!" They told themselves. Covering a loud yawn with their right hand, they began looking for a place to sleep.
'The thought of saving Asriel fills you with determination!'
---------------
Frisk quickly ran towards the underground. The lycan pack was not far away. They could hear his alpha let out a howl of challenge. "Fuck, Frisky! You should have thought of that!" They berated themselves.
Despite their permanent human form, Frisk possessed the scent of an alpha. Mixed with that of a bloodsucker, too. That was bad when you ran into a pack of werewolves. Smelling enemy and rival was not good, especially for a weak human.
Damn, they were too close! Frisk needed to get to the underground, like, yesterday!
Fortunately, their human form meant it was much easier to run through the forest for Frisk than it was for the lycan pack, so Frisk reached the entrance to the underground long before they did. Panting, they allowed themselves a moment to catch their breath before heading deeper into the underground.
"Okay, note to myself. There are licans on Mount Ebott." Following this idle thought, Frisk ventured into the underground.
They could sleep in Chara and Asriel's room. They didn't know if there were any monsters left in the underground, but at least the castle seemed empty. Which was incredibly convenient for Frisk at the moment. They certainly didn't want to explain what they were doing here.
Opening the door carefully and peeking inside, Frisk checked that the bedroom was empty before stepping inside. They could already feel the exhaustion beginning to dissipate thanks to the darkness. Without direct sunlight, their shadow filled them with energy, especially with the six human souls feeding it. Perks of being a half vampire, let's say.
On the other hand, Frisk could feel the wolf much calmer. Now that they had time to think, Frisk noticed that it had slowly calmed down since yesterday. They figured it had something to do with monster magic, but they could hardly be considered scholars on the subject.
Be that as it may, Frisk was happy with it. With the shadow receiving strength thanks to the six souls and with the wolf being calmer, they hardly needed to worry about anything until tomorrow. Yes, tomorrow would be another day, they reflected as they closed their eyes and went to sleep. They just hoped nothing would wake them up this time.
Notes:
Some clarifications.
As you may or may not have noticed, our Frisky is half vampire, half werewolf. The latter are also referred to as licans or lycanthropes. Vampires, for their part, have beautiful epithets like bloodsuckers or leeches.
In later chapters, these races will be explained in detail, as well as the reason why Frisk mentions that they are enemies, considering that at least there seems to be a hybrid between the two races that contradicts that fact.
Chapter 2: The ghoul and the soul.

We learn a bit more about vampires as Frisk investigates in the underground.

Chapter Text
Frisk woke up.
Judging from the feeling the shadow gave them, it was night now. Their vampire side was extremely excited. It could feel a corpse nearby. The fact that their shadow could perceive it told Frisk that the corpse was very well preserved. After all, his vampiric senses would ignore any corpse that was too degraded, even if it was possible to reanimate such corpses anyway.
"Okay, Frisk. Time to investigate." They told themselves.
-----------------
As Frisk had guessed, Asriel still maintained his original form, even as he seemed increasingly haggard. The amount of magic he could absorb on his own was not enough to maintain his form, and the excess was slowly leaking out of him. He would soon resume his Flowey form. Right now, however, Frisk needed to find a good excuse for him to leave Chara's grave, since it was the corpse of Asriel's sibling that their shadow had sensed...
Right at that moment, however, Asriel began to rapidly turn to dust. It seemed that his magic had finally reached his limit. As Frisk watched, Flowey emerged from the pile of dust, huffing and puffing. Taking advantage of the momentary distraction, Frisk reached out with their shadow and made contact with Chara's corpse.
A very well preserved corpse, Frisk hoped. What they didn't expect was the double soul inside. The instant they made contact with the corpse and awakened its shadow, the soul shot upward rapidly, expelled from the corpse for some reason Frisk didn't understand. Fortunately or not, Flowey was there. Having been designed as a soul vessel, he was able to quickly absorb the soul before it disappeared. Which was good, because Frisk couldn't transform it into their familiar, probably because it was a human-monster combined soul.
"Awakened ghoul? Check. Soul safe? Double check. Flowey aware that something is up? Triple check. Oh shit..."
"Hum... Hi, Flowey. Err... I'm uh... I'm Frisk, I don't know if you remember me..."
"Oh yeah! Hi Frisky! I thought you left with the others? Also... What's going on? This soul seems familiar..."
"It should. It's your soul, after all. Hum, something like that. I mean... err, your soul and Chara's, I think."
"Oh? How can that be? I thought monster souls disappeared upon death. I know Asriel was a boss monster, but even then, the soul should have only persisted for a few seconds..."
"I don't know, Asr…Hum…Flowey. I…I guess Chara's soul helped, in some way we don't understand. I mean, none of us are really soul experts, are we?"
"Hahaha! No, we're not. Unless you are. You're not a secret soul expert, are you Frisky?"
"No I'm not. Well, I know a few things, but none applicable to this particular case."
"Oh, good then. Now... Say, Frisky. Wanna play? I've got enough magic to use my bullets... I mean pellets! Friendship pellets!"
"No thanks. I… I need to do some more research on this find. But don't worry, Flowey. We'll play soon, I promise!"
With that said, Frisk fled.
---------------
Studying Alphys's notes was not easy. The problem wasn't even that Frisk couldn't understand a lot of this technical jargon. Surprisingly, they were able to do that. Frisk didn't know how, but that could wait. Right now, their biggest problem was sorting out the notes scattered everywhere. How a renowned scientist could be so unbelievably messy was beyond Frisk. If so, they needed to gather everything they could about souls.
"Do you need help, master?"
"Thanks Chara. Look up everything you can about souls. Ignore anything else, but check it out first just in case. I don't want us to miss something important because it was just in the middle of other useless information. Err, useless right now, I mean."
Frisk continued to search, now that he had another set of helping hands. They had made human souls enter the Ghoul, thus giving them more intelligence and power. Now Chara was a full vampire. Frisk was lucky that they considered them their master, because otherwise Frisk would be very screwed...
---------------------
Frisk stared at the machine in front of them. To the untrained eye, it would appear broken or half-built, but Frisk knew better. They had seen it during their adventure, but back then they had hardly had time to study it carefully. This artifact contained the answers that Frisk needed. Not about souls, but about Chara. Chara's conscience at least. If Frisk could make the machine work for them, or somehow duplicate the apparatus, they could summon the demon from the void they were in, and directly ask Chara about their soul. Even if they didn't have an answer, it wouldn't be a fruitless activity, as Frisk wished to save Chara as well anyway, especially now that they knew their soul was intact. Well, sort of.
Well, they could always call out to Sans, sure, but they didn't know how he would react to Chara's presence, all things considered. After all, Chara had killed the entire underground once, being very technical about it. Frisk knew that someone else had actually been pulling the strings, but they couldn't prove it right now, so there was a chance that Sans didn't believe them and attacked Chara. And that would be very, very bad for Frisk. Also for Chara, naturally.
"*Sigh*. Decisions, decisions..."
Notes:
Well. Chara is back, sort of.
Now, Frisk needs to contact Sans. Or learn to duplicate his machine.
What will be Sans's reaction to Chara's presence? It will certainly be interesting...
Chapter 3: The demon that comes when you call its name...
Summary:
Flowey and Chara manage to recreate Sans' machine, somehow. All it takes is for them to merge with Frisk to use the designs contained in their mind...

Chapter Text
"Okay, okay. Somehow I can understand all these schematics and notes when I couldn't before. When the hell did I get a course in monster science?" Frisk mused to themselves.
They had left Chara in Alphys' lab, with instructions to continue searching for anything about souls. Meanwhile, they had focused on finding out everything they could about this machine that Sans was hiding in his workshop. And somehow, for reasons totally out of their control, Frisk was able to fully understand what they were reading, at least when they managed to decipher Sans's handwriting. They could understand advanced sciences that they had never seen before, let alone study them.
"Master, I think I have something." Chara walked through the door, holding a bunch of papers in their hands. They had taken his work seriously, no doubt. Frisk was very proud of them.
"Let me see that. Yes, this will do. Good job, Chara."
"Thank you master." Chara's body shuddered, as if they had had a mini-orgasm simply from receiving Frisk's praise.
"You are very welcome..." Frisk replied distractedly. They were concentrated studying the notes that Chara had brought them. They had bothered to put them in order for Frisk, too, they noted. "Thanks for putting them in order too." congratulated. Chara fell to their knees, their legs shaking. Frisk looked at them, slightly surprised, not expecting such a strong reaction from a simple compliment.
"Are you alright, Chara?" Frisk asked, approaching them quickly and kneeling in front of them.
"I am, Master. It was just too much and it overwhelmed me for a moment."
Frisk frowned in confusion. Why was Chara's reaction to their complements so strong? It was very strange, especially since they were now a full vampire and shouldn't have such poor stamina. Then Frisk felt it. A bloodmate bond. How was this even possible? Frisk didn't understand, but now he knew why Chara was reacting the way they did. Frisk would have had the exact same reaction if the wolf and the shadow weren't buffering each other.
"Chara... Why do you address me as master? You know that the bloodmate bond makes us equal, right?"
"You'd be right if you didn't have a red soul. Despite what you may think, being a determined soul makes you more powerful than me, Master. And I can sense that power, so my instincts force me to show you due respect." ."
So a red soul was more powerful than even six other souls. It made sense up to a point, Frisk thought. All human souls had determination, but it was not their main trait. Only the red ones had such a primary trait. Now that they were aware, Frisk focused on their metaphysical senses, effectively checking the truth of Chara's statement. They were more powerful than Chara, even if by a minuscule margin.
"I will still consider you equal to me." Frisk flatly affirmed, causing Chara's lips to form a slight smile. From the softness of their expression, Frisk knew that such a smile was genuine. "Now... Let's see what we can do with everything we have." Frisk sighed.
----------------------
It turns out that Frisk and Chara could merge together. Turns out they could do it with Flowey, too. Such a merger could create many things, including Sans's quantum processor. Well, a copy of it. Instead of feeding it with magic, they fed it with DT. After all, together the three of them had DT to spare. As it would turn out, merging together allowed Flowey to become Asriel again, most likely thanks to the power of human souls.
Instead of a portal to the abyss being opened, it happened that they now had the ability to travel towards the demon, which they did without hesitation. The instant it saw them, the demon pounced, clearly trying to possess them. It was equal parts success and failure. the six human souls somehow absorbed the demon's EXP, while its magic and matter merged with them too. The result? The demon shrank to the shape of a soul shell, gray instead of red, still pulsing like a human soul would. Chara was back.
Notes:
Holy shit!
Chara and Asriel are safe now, so it's all over. TRUE? Correct?
Oh my naive readers! Of course it's not over. We still have a lot to find out. Especially how Frisk will manage so that Sans and Chara don't kill each other. That will be very, very difficult.
Chapter 4: dissolution.
Summary:
Frisk has been dissolved in the merger. They need to get a monster soul for their wolf to keep them intact. Asriel is willing to give up his soul, but his soul is combined with Chara's and it is impossible to separate them at the moment. Chara has no ideas either...
Notes:
(See the end of the chapter for notes.)
Chapter Text
It all felt so strange. the six souls beated in unison, intertwined with the shadow. the ghoul's cursed blood flowed through their veins, the only remnant of Chara's corpse. The combined human-monster soul of Asriel and Chara resonated with the others, and also with the hollow shell of the demon Chara. Hollow was a bit of a misnomer at this point though. Within the gray shell, Frisk's soul beat in unison with the others too.
They blinked. the wolf remained calm, as if nothing was wrong, its spirit remaining dormant inside them. They knew that with Asriel's soul, Frisk would have access to enough magic for their wolf to form a body, but the problem was that Asriel's soul was combined with Chara's soul, and the magic inside them was not enough to force a separation.
The immediate consequence of all this was that they could not unmerge at the moment. Chara's body could be regenerated to allow them to unmerge, but then they would take Frisk's soul with them. Flowey couldn't unmerge leaving the combined soul behind either, because Frisk's regenerated body would be unable to maintain it, which in addition to causing the soul's destruction would cause Frisk to lose their body again... In short, they were screwed.
The only possible option for Frisk was to receive another monster's soul and combine it with theirs. Demon Chara would have to give up Frisk's soul, but within their regenerated corpse, the gray shell could survive without any soul inside it without any problem. This would also make Frisk lose their vampire powers, but they didn't care about that part. Another option would be for Frisk to generate a monster soul of their own, but that was impossible.
they had returned to their timeline easily thanks to the machine. It was the only thing they had unmerged from so far, and it had been perfectly safe to do so. Since the machine had been upgraded to be a DT extractor as well as a quantum processor, it wouldn't be running out of power anytime soon. After all, they had eight human souls, two of which were red. They could still feel the connection with the machine, drawing DT out of the eight souls and keeping demon Chara out of the abyss, even as the abys tried to draw the demon back inside its deeps.
Sighing, they took Frisk's human shape and left the room, leaving the machine behind. They couldn't unmerge, okay, but they had enough power to take whatever shape they wanted. In this case, frisk's human shape. Also, since Frisk were indeed part of their consciousness, it would be easy to impersonate them. It wasn't the best solution, but it would have to suffice for now...
------------------------
He stared at all, furious. this hybrid, this instance of Frisk, was just what he needed to come back. He unfortunately he couldn't control it like he had the others. To make matters worse, the demon was free now. He was furious. Nothing was going his way, dammit! He breathed in and out a few times, calming down. He couldn't do anything for now, and getting carried away with anger wouldn't help him. For now he would have to wait...
Notes:
Oh my gosh!
It seems that someone is not happy with the current state of affairs.
Who is this mysterious character? What he wants? Most important of all, what is the meaning of life and everything else?
Well, that's forty-two, of course. But to find out the answers to the rest of the questions, you must continue to accompany me!
Chapter 5: The origin.
Summary:
We go back to the origin of the world and the four great races.

Chapter Text
The creator looked at the world with joy.
First he shaped living creatures. Every living creature followed the laws of nature. Living physical bodies and a spirit. A mental essence that contained all of the creature's memories and mental reflection. The creator, however, wanted and needed intelligent races to believe in him, or else he would lose his power and disappear. So he manifested the lycanthropes. werewolf people. Literally wolves that he gave souls to, causing them to develop another spirit that eventually allowed them to take human form.
Then he created monsters. some based on animals, others on other things, but all of them with a common trait. The ability to use magic. Unlike living creatures, monsters did not bleed and had hardly any mass. this was because their bodies were made of magic and dust. The monsters' souls were so attuned to their bodies that they died with them. There was only one type of monster that could bleed. The vampires. Reanimated blood-drinking corpses with a physical body. They arose when the creator gave physical form to various skeleton monsters using animal blood. Specifically vampire bat blood.
This turned vampires into vessels of souls, with poisonous blood and an internal shadow capable of reanimating other corpses as Ghouls, basically soulless vampires in the service of their creator. They also made every soul within them a slave to their will. When a ghoul obtained a soul, the bond with their sire was broken. Now the soul belonged to them and they became a full vampire. This also meant that the fights between vampires were based on the will and the number of souls. When one vampire managed to prevail over another, all the souls of the defeated vampire became slaves to the victor, and their empty corpse too. Any corpse of any living creature could be ghoulified, taking on the appearance of a pale, starving human corpse, and any monster could be enslaved, turning to dust as its soul entered the vampire, persisting only by the vampire's power.
One very interesting thing about vampires was that they had the ability to metamorphose, being able to turn into whoever they wanted, biological sex included. Lycanthropes, on the other hand, were functional androgynous hermaphrodites. None of these three races were immortal, but certainly vampires and werewolves were the strongest, due especially to their high natural regeneration. At least until the fourth race arose.
The first humans were hybrids. When a vampire and a werewolf mated, their offspring possessed both the spirit of the wolf and the shadow of the vampire. The vampiric poison pulsed in his blood too. However, they were unable to call upon the werewolves shapeshifting or necromantic abilities of the vampires. They could familiarize souls and animate corpses, but that was as far as their power. They were physically weaker than their parents as well.
When these hybrids had children with each other, such children lacked the shadow and the wolf. their bodies were forced to fight magic, now unnecessary, to avoid disintegration. This caused them to develop an internal power opposed to magic. A powerful binding energy capable of keeping their bodies and souls together. The power was so strong that it granted human souls the ability to persist after death...
-------------------------------
They were furious. No, cross that out. They were fucking pissed off.
Around the bed were most of the boss monsters. Alphys, Undyne, Asgore and Toriel... Along with MK's parents.
MK, who had been attacked by a group of human teenagers, who had thought it was fun to bully the armless monster. MK, who had fallen. MK, who would probably turn to dust very soon...
No.
He wouldn't.
They wouldn't allow it!
With a simple thought, they levitated MK's body. The monsters around them started to panic, but they ignored them. With another thought, they merged with MK. Everything would be fine...
Except it wasn't. With a violent energetic and metaphysical reaction, the machine that kept them alive suddenly ceased to exist. They heard a very short mental scream, unable to identify the person, probably all of them. Then everything went black...
Notes:
Oh, a cliffhanger!
What will have happened to our beloved protagonists? Will those dumb thugs pay for what they did? Will the world explode?
Chapter 6: core and kernel
Summary:
Souls evolve. War breaks out. God creates a new world.
Notes:
(See the end of the chapter for notes.)
Chapter Text
The creator modified his body based on his children. He granted himself a hybrid body, first. Afterward, as human souls developed their special energy, he gave himself a human soul, though without removing his monster soul.
As the magic continued to blend into the bodies of the humans, the souls began to develop different primary traits, in addition to red, representative of the special energy capable of keeping them alive in the presence of magic. Such power still held, but other special energies, derived from different special attributes and produced by the mixture of magic and the special binder, appeared as well.
As humans and their different souls grew stronger with each generation, as non-hybrid humans aged and died over time, their souls began to take on different colors due to these attributes, indicative of the color of their special magic. Red souls were the first to appear, as red magic was the most abundant. Such magic was internal and simply represented the intertwining of magic and binder, with no special abilities. The others were different.
The greens possessed defensive and healing magic. Oranges had the ability to increase their attack in battles. the blues could use localized telekinesis. The violets could trap their enemies using their own abilities. The yellows were capable of using triggers and switches, whether it was an enemy attack or their own bodies. the cyans used a sniper magic, capable of damaging moving targets.
The creator gave himself a human soul of each color, keeping a white monster soul as well. He gave himself the body of a vampire and the spirit of a wolf, which combined with his monster soul and his 7 human souls made him extremely powerful.
He never suspected that his first son, the first vampire, would betray him…
He lied. He told everyone that the creator was a monster, a monster that had obtained seven human souls somehow. That convinced the humans that they should attack him. Vampires and werewolves joined forces, convinced that their body and spirit were stolen as well.
If he had known what it would cause, he might never have dared to betray him. By now, hybrids barely existed. The parent races had evolved as well, to the point where werewolves now also had human souls, just like vampires. Only monsters possessed monster souls. His first son used his vast power to bring seven powerful human wizards to life, turning himself into a vampire monster. Instead of a soul possessing the seven human magics, he now had a monster soul. This weakened his power, but he did not attach importance to such a circumstance. In his place, he continued the fight, even when his physical body was destroyed. The creator watched in horror as the surviving monsters were sealed under Mount Ebot. He had given up his monster soul to create an avatar, someone who would watch over the actions of his wayward son.
When it was all over, only three races were left on the surface. The creator had managed to convince everyone of his death, a relatively easy thing to do when he gave up his monster soul and wolf spirit. Now he was a vampire with seven souls. Powerful, but no longer a god. Before the magic completely disappeared from the surface due to the sealing of the monsters, he placed a curse on humanity. It only affected the red souls, but that was not its intention, they were simply the ones with the most binder. It was known as the devil's curse. Basically, when a human accumulated enough hate and pain, their tainted spirit would acquire the ability to cling to another human after death, creating a gray casing around that unfortunate soul. If the human failed to resist their new killing intent, their EXP and LV would increase with each kill until they was finally consumed by the new demon, who would turn their host's body into their own and enslave their soul forever. The demons could eventually be killed, but they were a real threat. Such a powerful curse came at a cost. He got turned into a human after that. The only human with a multicolored soul.
—----------
The god gazed at the devastation around him. The world within the world. He had used his advanced technological knowledge to create a powerful supercomputer which he called Kernel. He then he merged with said supercomputer. As human technology and the internet evolved, he was able to expand his digital world and his creatures, the digimon. Unfortunately, the digital worlds interconnected and exchanged data. The god was forced to create various groups of beings to help rule the world. The first conflict broke out when the four sacred beasts rescued the data of two dark digimon and used it for a DNA digievolution, becoming themselves Zeed Millenniumon. The dark digimon then proceed to use his power as a evil emperor.
The god salvaged the data of another digimon, thus creating his own version of lucemon. A seraphimon that absorbed the data of a cherubimon and an ofanimon, given voluntarily, and then was blessed by the god himself as his son and chosen. Lucemon was able to use a monodramon to absorb Zeed Milleniumon, evolving it into cyberdramon in the process. Such conflict was not without its consequences, as Zeed Milleniumon managed to inject one of his dark seeds into Lucemon before Monodramon absorbed him. This would prove to be extremely effective, as Lucemon eventually absorbed the three archangels who ruled alongside him and from whose data the god had formed Lucemon. Lucemon then transformed into Lucemon Fallen Mode.
Fallen Lucemon then proceeded to try to destroy the digital world again. Fortunately, ten powerful digimon managed to hurt him enough to send his data into the dark area and free the three archangels. Cyberdramon then decided to release the four sacred beasts, keeping Zeed Milleniumon inside of him. They had discovered that the sacred beasts had been manipulated by Milleniumon all along, eager to incarnate in this new digital world and rule it. The ten ancient warriors achieved their goal, but died in the process. All that was left of them were the digispirits, given to the three archangels for safekeeping.
The god knew that even with the seven of them working together, the digital world would take a long time to recover. Kernel was no longer something physical. Furthermore, he was interfaced with a physical machine made by monsters, specifically his wayward son. The core had been created with the supposed intention of providing energy to the underground, but his son had had other plans. Magical energy, temporary energy, and continuously interacting photons were meant to try to destroy the barrier. Of course, Gaster also intended to use the power for himself. That was the reason why he plunged into the core so happily, seeking to become the god of monsters.
Unfortunately for Gaster, his attempt at godhood failed miserably. His body, magic, soul, and essence merged with the core, forcing him to disappear from the physical world. Some time later he was followed by the creator's avatar, who had attempted to recreate the core on a smaller scale. She had been somewhat smarter, however, so even as she disappeared, a substitute agent was created. A small monster capable of interacting with her, the Only One who remembered her. He believed that she was her sister.
Afraid of what Gaster and Lucemon would do if they managed to communicate, the god shut down the kernel completely, effectively isolating the digital world completely, at the cost of weakening the seal on the dark area, further making it the center of the digital world now. Before the kernel shut down completely, he used his power to connect with a very special human, making him his last chosen one. He would never know that this particular human was the ultimate hybrid, nor would he know that he was currently possessed by a demon. How could he? After all, there weren't supposed to be demons in the underground...
Notes:
We have discovered the player. We also now know that there is a third world in danger. Will our chosen ones be able to save it?
Chapter 7: New start again.
Summary:
Frisk is sent to a strange place. Nothing feels normal there. They activate something and go back to the underground. Right at the beginning, on a bed of golden flowers... Again.
Chapter Text
When they opened their eyes, Frisk did not recognize their surroundings. They were in a strange white void, illuminated only by a multicolored light in the distance. All was silent, except for a faint white noise, a barely audible static hum, like a computer would make.
They could not see the ground, but somehow they could walk. Their red soul was perfectly visible, floating in front of them. The curious thing was that they could not feel their body in the normal way. It was there, no doubt, but.... It just didn't feel right.
As they got closer to the light, they realized it was an orb made of what looked like data, if data could float in the air and glow with the rainbow light.
'The kernel,' their mind provided.
Frisk didn't know how or why they knew, just as they didn't know how they had been able to read Alphys' or Sans' notes.
They did know that they should not have touched the orb, but their hand reached out without their control anyway.
The words "reset" popped into their mind, like a strange thought, and an electric shock coursed through Frisk's body as the multicolored light enveloped them.
That didn't hurt them at all. Then everything went black. Again.
------
Frisk opened their eyes.
They were surrounded by golden flowers. Their whole body ached. Beneath them, Chara's corpse rested. They were back to square one, again.
However, there was a problem.
They knew Chara's body was there, but they couldn't feel it. Frisk's vampiric senses were not responding. Frisk had no shadow. They were no longer half-vampire.
Then there was movement. One of the flowers opened its eyes. Flowey was smiling. It wasn't a friendly smile. Oh, shit.
Frisk managed to dart across the room just in time. Flowey's bullets exploded where Frisk had been a moment before. Flowey pouted.
Out of the corner of their eyes, they saw Chara appear. Demon Chara, shrouded in shadows and emitting magic. Chara sank underground.
They dodged again. A boss monster soul floated out from Chara's grave. Frisk was closer. They absorbed it. They dodged again. A fireball came through the exit and Flowey fled. Toriel had arrived.
------
Frisk didn't understand anything. Why had it all started again? Why did Chara have their shadow? Who had their wolf spirit? Frisk didn't feel it anymore either. They were now a simple human. A red-souled human, but a human nonetheless.
Granted, they also had the soul of a boss monster inside them, something all the other monsters could see. That generated a lot of distrust, but Frisk was able to win everyone's friendship again. They had to promise to explain the presence of a monster soul in their body when it was all over, of course, but that was something they would do anyway. When they understood it all themselves, at least.
------
Okay. Flowey calling them all idiots and bragging about stealing the human souls? Check. Asriel taking his hyperdeath god form early? Check. Chara using their power to kill every monster inside Asriel? Check. Also, fuck it all. No, seriously, fuck.
Chapter 8: In the name of the father, in the name of the son.
Summary:
Frisk needs to find a way to save them all. They know it won't be easy, but they are full of determination!
Chapter Text
Frisk looked around.
Chara and Asriel were still fighting. Frisk noticed that Asriel was now holding their wolf. How had he gotten it? Frisk didn't know, but it would certainly explain why Flowey had attacked so aggressively.
They jumped to the side, dodging one of Asriel's attacks. Then they were forced to drop to the ground to avoid Chara.
They sighed. Frisk didn't know what to do. They needed to save Chara and Asriel, but how to do it?
Then they came up with an idea. They had Asriel's soul. It was combined with theirs, but.... What if they gave Asriel the combined soul?
Granted, it would surely kill them, but at least their soul would remain inside Asriel. Hopefully, the wolf would allow them to form a new body, or so Frisk hoped. With his soul back, Asriel would surely be himself again, right? Hopefully Asriel would come up with a way to save Chara?
Frisk didn't hesitate any longer. They let their and Asriel's soul float away from them and towards the god of hyperdeath. they were immediately absorbed.
The last thing Frisk felt before died was the transformation of their body into something else. A creature made of data, a digimon.
------
As he watched the transformation, Gaster smiled.
Finally! Now he could combine with the dragon god in front of him and achieve godhood. Not even Asriel with his seven human souls would be a match for him now.
Gaster would be much more powerful thanks to the demon he now controlled. Besides, if he managed to absorb Asriel, he could use the souls to reduce Chara's EXP and therefore their LOVE, preventing them from being able to reveal themselves against him.
It was then that the god of hyperdeath made a move that Gaster did not expect. He stole Lucemon's larva data, which was nothing more than the dark seed that Zeed-Milleniumon had injected into Lucemon during their battle.
Fortunately for Gaster, the dragon retained its form, possibly due to the presence of Zeed-Milleniumon himself. For his part, Asriel was completely separated from the hyperdeath god, who now took the form of a huge wolf while Asriel himself retained his adult size.
Before anything else could happen, Gaster combined with the mighty digital dragon, eager to finally achieve full godhood. He couldn't help but smile as he did so, mentally mocking his foolish and naive father. Everything the old god had done had only served to delay the inevitable. Gaster would finally be a god and nothing would stop him.
------
The god smiled. He finally had his son where he wanted him. Now he could destroy him once and for all.
"You have failed, father!" Gaster sneered.
"Did I? Do you really think me so naive, my son? Do you really think I never considered this possibility?"
The god saw the doubt in his son's eyes. Gaster tried to cover it up and kept bluffing, of course, but the god saw it. Gaster wasn't sure. That was good. The more unsure his son was, the easier it would be for the god to use the necessary destruction technique. He too would disappear forever, but it didn't matter. The demon would inherit his and his son's power. He only hoped that Chara would understand the nature of what they had inherited. Hopefully they would hand it over to Frisk.
With a thought, the god executed the technique. In mere seconds, he ceased to exist along with his son. Gaster had no time to do anything, busy as he was taunting his father. Both simply ceased to be...
Chapter 9: Chara's new power
Summary:
Chara experiments their new power and discovers their new destiny.
Chapter Text
Chara feels it. An incredible power now flows through them.
What was once just the dust of all the monsters they killed, their inaccessible memories providing Chara with all the EXP they needed. Everything is accessible now, everything is intertwined thanks to the data they are combined with.
Now, they literally have access to the code of every monster in the underground. Also to more stuff, of course. All the data from the digiworld is inside them, and their connection to both the core and the kernel allows Chara to sense other timelines.
They still can't reach those other timelines. Not until this one is destroyed first. They feel a great urge to do that, but they hold back.
It is easy to modify the various devices that some monsters are connected to, as well as the monsters themselves. Sans' quantum processor soon becomes part of him, now turned into data inside Sans. Mettaton's various bodies are now a digimon, or at least almost a digimon, again thanks to data manipulation. Chara does the same with each monster, improving them as much as they can.
When they get to the amalgamates data, they find a connection to the DT estractor. they turn the machine into data within themself and slowly separate each monster, breaking the determination links that combine them.
When they reach the MK data they find the connection to the machine that keeps them intact. Modifying that machine is not difficult, but Chara is forced to use the determination estractor data. The new machine ends up combined with the Core and the Kernel, Chara unable to do anything else.
The instant that combination occurs, the entire underground trembles and the barrier pulsates. After all, the Core was connected to the barrier and the Kernel generates its own barrier. Now, the underground and the digiworld are one.
The barrier can no longer be destroyed, but temporary portals to the surface can be opened. 'This is better.' Chara thinks to themself. 'Not all monsters will be ready to leave the underground and live together with humans. This way they can be trained, taught before they leave the underground.
Chara looks at the huge wolf in front of them and they smile. This creature contains the souls of every monster in the underground. It also contains the six human souls along with Frisk's.
The thought of Frisk fills Chara with an overwhelming desire. They know they are meant to be with Frisk. They also know that the connection to the Kernel belongs to Frisk.
Chara then does the only thing they can. They combine themself with the wolf.
