Chapter Text
Three months later
Ralph Carter turned out to be Dion Zabinski, late of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Zabinski had refused to take a plea, even though trying to steal a dog worth more than $1000 had bumped the charge up to a felony. The local law and order folks thought it was amusing that 43 people insisted on being witnesses at the trial. The judge was amused as well, but asked only for three people to verify the charge. Nonetheless, the local courtroom was packed. After sentencing, everyone went back to the dog park and celebrated, meaning human and dog treats for everyone. Many zoomies.
Zabinski is enjoying the hospitality of the Kansas penal system.
Louis the Hero is still quiet around people, but he has learned that talking with dogs is easy. His parents adopted a sweet-faced Heinz 57 cuddler from a rescue. Louis named her Bee. His new best friend.
Louis and Bee are official members of the Amigos pack. Billy Bob, once again, is in love.
Visitors to the dog park must show an ID. Sam and Dean are pretty sure that the criminal class in the region knows not to mess with the dogs or their human guardians.
And, the worst-kept secret in north central Kansas, maybe in the entire Heartland?
That the world is plagued with Supernatural nasties.
That there are Hunters who work tirelessly to protect humans and allied entities.
And that the two dog-loving men, formerly of Lawrence, now of Lebanon, and their super-hot muscle car, are at the center of it all.
So, when Dean and Sam decided to come clean with the folks at the Happy Trails Dog Park about the Family Business, they found out that Everyone Knew. And Had Known for Decades. And Didn't Care.
"You boys keep up the good work," said Ruth, patting Dean's hand as she would one of her young patrons in her librarian days.
"From what we hear, it's what you do best."
