Chapter 2: its a new day in a city thats not mine

Summary:

“That is a rude stereotype, sir!” Kenji spoke up, a smile on his face as he walked.

“Good afternoon! My name is Kenji Miyazawa-Nakahara!” He held a hand out but none of the students took it.

Kenji waited until Junichiro stumbled to Kenji and put his hand down gently.

“Sorry, but we aren’t ‘miserable’ or ‘dangerous’,” Kenji continued talking.

“Rather, it's a rather rude stereotype! It’s like saying the people of Mususfatsu can only black and white!” Kenji was annoyed, his smile said so. Often mistaken if someone doesn’t know how to tell the difference between the two.

Chapter Text

Junichiro had woken up considerably late. It was 7. Oh shoot! Class starts at 7.30! He jumped off the mattress (the bed frame hasn't been set up as all three of them got confused by the mechanism.)

"I'M LATE!" Junichiro yelled, brushing his teeth and showering. He had then thrown on his uniform, not bothering to wear the school blazer yet as he rushed to the kitchen to see Kenji just snacking on a granola bar.

"Class starts at 8.35?" Kenji said.

"That means we have to be there at 8.20," Junichiro mumbled, he felt angry at himself for sleeping through his alarm. Kenji was already in his uniform and was already ready.

"I'M BACK! ARE YOU TWO READY!?" Chuuyas hair was dishevelled, his coat and hat in his arms as he held several shopping bags on his arms, some held up by his ability.

"Chuuya-san?" Junichiro gasped, dropping his bag.

"It's okay! Come on get ready, I'm driving you guys there," Chuuya said.

"It's only 7.20-" Kenji said in confusion.

“Oh goodness, that’s late,” Chuuya said, putting the bags down on the kitchen counter and throwing his coat aside and out of his hat.

“Come lets go lets go,” Chuuya urged them.

The drive was hectic. It was filled with Kenji asking innocent wide eyed questions and clutching his bag innocently. Junichiro was worried and panicking about being late. Chuuya was driving fast, and he was yelling in another language.

They reached the front gate, it was quite empty, adding to Kenji’s confusement.

“Oh, we’re not so late,” Junichiro said, landing on his knees, checking a little. Chuuya sighed loudly, taking off his hat and fanning himself with it.

“Should we get breakfast?” Chuuya asked.

“Ooh!” Kenji gleamed.

It was currently 7.40 am, Junichiro’s hair is very unkempt and Kenji looks confused. He did not look amused or excited or processing the situation. It was barely 20 minutes ago that he was snacking on a granola bar. Some of the students walked past Junichiro slumped in the car, Chuuya fanning Kenji with his hat and Kenji holding Junichiro’s hand.

They eventually entered the school, Chuuya waving them goodbye, hopping into the car and bidding them goodbye. Junichiro and Kenji had walked to class, and a small number of people were present. The both of them sat down, minding their own businesses. Kenji was texting Kyouka, advising her how to take care of the plants on the rooftop. Junichiro had his head down, falling asleep, wearing headphones.

Soon it was 8 am, Kenji was still typing on the phone in a quiet and calm manner. Junichiro was asleep in the seat beside him. The two of them wordlessly spend their morning in silence- that is until the class monitor approaches them.

“Excuse me! My name is Tenya Iida, I am the class’ class representative!” The blue haired boy says enthusiastically, his hand in a flat shape. Kenji lowered his phone to blink at Iida and give a warm smile.

“Good morning! My name is Kenji,” Kenji said, giving a small goodbye to Kyouka and flipping his phone close.

“I believe that you two are from Yokohama? Is it true that they threaten people with quirks? And those with abilities are dangerous?” Iida asked, which drew the attention of the other classmates, specifically a green haired boy with a notebook.

“Isn’t Yokohama run by villains?” The green haired boy asked.

“No… we’re not ruled by villains though?” Kenji said, tilting his head in confusion. Other students began coming closer to ask questions, question after question to poor Kenji, which woke Junichiro up.

Junichiro sat up before one of the shortest people he had ever seen was right in front of his face. He had purple round hair, which in Junichiro’s opinion was the most ugly thing he has ever seen.

“Do the women in Yokohama have big boobs?” The midget asked.

Junichiro fought back a gag and pushed the boy away.

“Class, back at your seats.” The teacher came in, black hair and covered in any bandages– what exactly had he gone through to look worse than Dazai?

“The fight is not over yet,” The teacher began Kenji cast a glance at Junichiro, who also looked confused and slightly nervous.

“Is it the villains?” Some of the students murmured.

“As you all know, the UA sports festival is drawing near,”

‘Who has a festival in the middle of the term-’ Junichiro thought.

“That’s a super normal school event!” one of them cheered.

The class began cheering, leaving Kenji and Junichiro confused. Junichiro was most confused because of his half-awake manner.

“Wait wait wait-!” The pikachu look alike had shoved Kirishima’s face as he raised his hand.

"Is it okay to have a sports festival so soon after the villains snuck inside?" earphone jack asked, making the whole class turn at her. Then they looked at Dazai-san 2.0, searching for answers. Junichiro had read something about the students being attacked before they had transferred. That could explain why Dazai-san 2.0 looks so beat up.

“What if they attack us-” Tail fluff asked.

“Apparently they think of it as showing how Ua’s crisis management is as solid as a rock by holding the sports festival. The security will be strengthened five times this year than any years, above all, our sports festival is a huge chance-”

After that, Junichiro fell back asleep.

Chuuya smiles as Endeavour grits his teeth.

“What do you know about Touya?” Endeavour asked, caution lacing his tone.

“First born, had an amazing fire quirk, top of his classes, and dead.” Chuuya said nonchalantly. Chuuya was wearing a mask, in a reporter outfit, the only way to notice his smile was by his eyes. He wore eye contacts and gloves.

“What do you want?” Endeavour asked.

“The truth-”

“5 Million Yen.”

Chuuya pauses, he feels a smile creep up on his face. He giggles before hunching over and cackling.

“Money? Money!?” Chuuya wiped tears from his eyes.

“Ha-h- BAHAHAH!” Chuuya laughed as he walked to Endeavour with the green eyed contacts.

Endeavour nervously looks at the ‘news reporter’. He had made sure that the media had forgotten about his son–.

“Don't bother trying to think about how I found out, Yokohama has a genius hacker.” Chuuya said, turning to Endeavour. How funny, who thought this man who was so stoic in photos could make such a distraught expression? He looked pale and his flames were dying down.

“Yokohama?” Endeavour asked, choosing his next words carefully.

“I’ll be back.” Chuuya said, looking at the CCTV footage.

“Lazy, clean up the footage,” He said to the surveillance camera.

….

“So troublesome–” Katai mumbled, typing away.

“KATAI! WHY ARE YOUR DISHES PILING UP!?”

“Kunikida found me…” Katai groaned.

Chuuya returns to the apartment and pulls up his laptop, he takes off his disguise and enters the kitchen, opening a wine bottle and pouring himself a glass. His phone rings and rings.

“THIS IS ME CHUUYA!!!!! ANSWER!!” Dazai’s voice is the ringtone unfortunately.

He taps the answer button, connecting the phone to the speaker.

“What d'ya want, mackerel?” Chuuya asked, sitting down at the couch, placing his wine glass down.

“Endeavour?”  Dazai asked.

“He gave me 5 MIllion Yen to silence me.” Chuuya laughed.

“Okay, now I have new intel,” There was shuffling, probably Dazai was still in his bed.

“Spill,” Chuuya was opening a new vlog site, he began typing something, a report to Mori.

“So we know how Endeavour has been reigning king of the second place medal. Turns out there’s a new guy, didn’t see him last time. His name is Hawks, his name was really hard to uncover Chuuya. But don't worry, after making Atsushi work for 12 hours, we found his name!” Dazai said nonchalantly.

“Don't overwork your subordinates.” Chuuya said, a light tone of upset and anger.

“Don’t worry, he and Atsushi took turns,”

"And by he you mean Ryuunosuke?”

“Oh chibi you wound me!

Chuuya rolls his eyes and continues typing at lightning speed, anger seeping into his words. How disgusting this hero is, but he has no place to say anything. His hands were stained with blood, black, red and all kinds of things he has done. He has held bullets and used his ability to kill hundreds- thousands.

“Oi Dazai.” Chuuya said, he stopped typing for a bit. Dazai hums through the call.

“Why me? Why not you, you’d get the job done much easier after all,” Chuuya asked.

“Oh! Because I’m still recovering from your bullets!”

Chuuya was quiet, and Dazai knew something was up.

“Is something wrong, Chuuya?”

“Dazai. Find more about this Hawks guy.” Chuuya starts typing once more, frowning and Dazai laughs.

Junichiro had left class without Kenji, Kenji said something about bonding with other people, so he joined Midoriya and the other students. Junichiro walked through the hall, gripping his phone, earpieces in. he walked silently, not looking up. He looked down to the floor, staring at his shoelaces and he reached the rooftop– only to see a purple haired boy.

“A-ah! Sorry!” Junichiro apologised.

“Uh… no worries…” The purple haired boy mumbled.

“Didn’t I meet you in the hallways the other day?” Junichiro asked, tilting his head.

“You’re the one who was walking to the halls to eat?” The boy asked.

“Yeah..”

The two of them stand in front of each other. Junichiro nervously chuckles as the purple haired boy glances and sighs.

“Wanna join?”

Junichiro hesitantly nods. He walks closer to the other boy, closing the rooftop door Junichiro stands a few good feet away from the purple haired boy.

“My name is Junichiro Tanizaki-Nakahara… people usually call me Nakahara,” Junichiro says to the purple haired boy.

“Hitoshi Shinsou, class 1-C.” The other says.

“Oh. Hi,” Junichiro said.

“Hm,”

The two of them sat in silence. They stayed that way, Junichiro just listened to his music, staring at the view of Musufatsu. Junichiro sat in silence and they were quiet.

Silence is scary with people you dont know.

Midoriya, Iida and Uraraka were getting ready to go to lunch before realising that Kenji was talking to Junichiro with a different dialect– most probably the Yokohaman dialect. Kenji said something and Junichiro sighed, only patting Kenji's head and smiling fondly.

“Hi! May I eat lunch with you guys today?” Kenji waved eagerly.

Midoriya paused, however, uraraka eagerly nodded.

“Mhm! You should join us- Nakahara-kun!” Uraraka nodded.

“Call me Miyazawa! I’m not used to people calling me by my other name!” Kenji smiled.

The four of them walk to the canteen before Midoriya suddenly pauses and turns to the rest.

“Uh… Why did you become a pro-hero, Uraraka-san?”

“Hmm-! Um, thats because of…” Uraraka was flustered but she tried to steel herself. “Money”

‘How ‘honourable’ Dazai-san said some just do it for money.’ Kenji thought to himself. ‘But she doesn’t seem the type to become a hero for greed…’

“Money!?” That earned a surprised yell from Iida and Midoriya

“To boil it down simply- yes!” Uraraka’s cheeks were flushed with embarrassment. “Sorry its not as admirable as your motivations!”

“Uh… you don't seem like the type to be a hero for greed..” Kenji spoke up.

“My family owns a construction company but we haven't gotten any work at all. So, we’re flat broke…” Uraraka confessed.

“Construction?” The three of them mumbled.

“Oh! With her quirk, if it gets licensed it will bring costs down right?” Midoriya asks.

“She could make any raw material float! No heavy equipment will be required,” Iida chimed in.

"I know! That's what I've been telling my dad since I was little but..." she paused for a while. "But dad says he would be happier if I achieved my dreams"

Kenji didn’t budge.

”I’ll definitely become a hero and make money, and finally let my parents have it easy!” She was determined. That’s all she needs.

‘She doesn't want money for greed. She needs money for loved ones,’ Kenji thought. She reminds him of someone.

He was broken out of his thoughts by Iida clapping. “Bravo! Uraraka-kun! Bravo!” He reminds Kenjji of Kunikida-san…

“Ke-” Midoriya turned his attention to Kenji before boisterous laughter echoed from a distance.

“Young Midoriya is HERE!”

“Wahhh suugee! He’s buff!” Kenji exclaimed. There stood the number one hero, All Might!

“All Might?” Midoriya asked.

“Lunch! Wanna eat together?” He looks like Haruno-san asking Naomi-san to eat lunch…

“He’s like a maiden!”

“I’d love to!”

“Finally! We can go home!” Junichiro cheered quietly and Kenji laughed with him. Someone opened the door to see a large crowd of students standing in front of their class. Students from other classes, all here to watch Class 1-A from the outside.

“What business do you have with 1-A?” Kunikida-lookalike asked. Iida was it? His name?

Junichiro almost dropped his phone from the sudden confrontation of students. Kenji blinked innocently.

“Scouting out the enemy, small fry,” The explosive one smirked, very quickly.

“We’re  the ones who made it out of the villain attack, They probably want to check us out before the sports festival,”

Junichiro peeked out from his bag, noticing the commotion.

“That’s Kacchan in neutral,” Broccoli said.

‘NOT HELPING!!?’ Junichiro inwardly screeched.

“There’s no point in doing stuff like that. Out of my way, extras!” Explosive yells.

“Stop calling people 'extras' just because you don't know them!" Kunikida-lookalike scolded him.

“I came to see what the famous class 1-A was like, but you seem pretty smug,” Junichiro saw Shinsou. Oh. Oh no. “Are all students in the hero course like this?”

Hearing him say words made the Explosive guy more agitated while the others tried to deny the accusation.

“Seeing something like this makes me feel disillusioned,” Shinsou says, annoyed and a small hint of anger in his voice. “There are a few people who enrolled in general studies or other courses because they didn’t make it into the hero course. Did you know that?” yep, it was a small hint of anger and annoyance. Definitely annoyed. "The school has left those of us a chance. They are going to consider our transfer into the hero course according to the outcome of the sports festival.”

Kenji had undermined what this was. Afterall he has seen these sorts of things just months ago.

“Scouting out the enemy?” Shinsou scoffed. “At least, I came to say even if you are in the hero course, if you get too carried away, then I’ll sweep your feet from under you. I came with a declaration of war.” Shinsour says, not missing a beat.

“he‘s gutsy…” Junichiro whispered while the other Class 1-A members screeched.

“The new ones from Yokohama.” The group of students turned to Kenji and Junichiro. Junichrio had took a step to get closer to Kenji.

“so , you’re the infamous transfer students?” Shinsou had looked at them. He looked at Junichiro, no hint of recognition painting his face.

‘HE HATES ME!’

“You two look rather normal for people from Yokohama. Usually those people are miserable, no?” A student asked

“Kenji!” Junichiro lightly whispered.

“I’m sorry, I may be one of the minority in Yokohama, but that doesn't make me special. Anyone can do what they want if they work hard. I’m sure you all can do the same too. I live by one moral by my family. ‘Be undefeated by the rain’.” Kenji smiled, placing a hand on his chest, eyes closed as he delivered.

“Tcch!” the explosive guy clicked his tongue and stormed off.

“Wait a minute, Bakugou!” actually red hair stops him.

“What are you gonna do about all this? Its your fault everyone hates us now!”

“It doesn’t matter.” The explosive guy growled.

“Huh!?”

“It doesn’t matter as long as you stand at the top!”

“So manly and simple!”

Junichiro had held Kenji’s hand as he manoeuvred through the crowd of students, keeping his head down and muttering small sorrys as he rushed through the crowd.

“He’s egoistical, like Akutagawa-san…” Junichiro mumbled as they walked home.

“But Akutagawa-san is egotistical because he wants Dazai-sans approval right?” Kenji asked.

“Yeah..” Junichiro smiled softly at Kenji, gently ruffling his hair.

Chuuya now wears his news reporter outfit and he uses his ability to climb the side of the building.

“Today’s target, you.” He opens the window silently.

He walks through the halls and finds the office of the Number 3 hero. He knocks on the door, pulling his mask up.

Hawks opens the door, a smile on his face.

“Chisinau right?” Hawks asks.

“Hawks I’m guessing?”
