Dream's path had long been disregarded and now he's about to lose. The bitter taste of failure mixed with the stinging overboil of his anger. This timeline was ruined from the start. Now it's fractured into something not even he could have predicted.
Burning hot obsidian pressed into his already charred skin. The worn out shreds of an orange uniform did nothing to block the heat. Even making it worse by holding his sweat against open wounds. A leather boot held him in place on the rough stone floor. Refusing to let up, the rough heel dug further into his sternum. His ribs creaked under the growing pressure, forcing him to breath in shallow gasps. Neck muscles protest the angle, stone threatening to fracture his skull as dark green eyes stare into dull gray and shining blue eyes.
The ravenette above him held a shimmering axe far above the blonde's head. Blood dripped down onto his cheek. His own blood left a trail, almost like tears. The duck hybrid had taken no time to put the axe through Dream's shoulder when he first arrived. Using it to encourage Dream to stay put. The pain ebbing from the wound in unwavering pulses was more than enough to hold him in place. The burning stone pressing it open further only willed him to still more. It tore at the edges of skin to sear the giving muscle, heating the bone beneath. Old injuries joined in the chorus of the tyrant's collapsing body.
The deranged smile above him never wavered. Golden fang catching the heated light of the lava curtain behind them. Sweat dripped from his scarred brow as his already matted black hair stuck to his tan skin. Worn tattered remains of the once soft gold feathers stuck out on either side of his head. His beanie had been discarded before he had even entered the cell. A suspender hung off his shoulder, having slipped when he first swung the axe.
"How does it feel to meet your finale, Dream?"
The words were coated in a sickeningly sweet honey. Poisoned with the bitter hatred and disgust the other held for him.
He would have laughed if he could get enough breath. The man above him was so caught up in the fact he had a glimpse of winning that he hadn't even considered one thing.
When has Dream ever played by anyone's rules?
Quackity's hand wavered, dim glowing blade trembling slightly as he growls out one last thing.
"I'll see you on the station, Bastard"
The axe split open Dream's skull, the cracking of the bone echoing throughout the prison. Blood flooded out onto the obsidian beneath them, filling the hollows of where his brain once was. Except, Dream laughed, and laughed, and laughed as Quackity stepped away from him. Blindly moving further into the room as he stared at what should have been Dream's body.
"Silly little thing, don't you know?"
Golden cracks form from his eye sockets. Severely more silver and green eyes open inside the splitting skin. His laughter echoes into three different voices as he rises from the ground. Six huge white feathered wings unfolded from his back. His wings didn't move as he hovered above the blood coated stone.
"You can't kill God"
His head tilted much too far right, neck creaking with the effort.
"Let's try this again and this time, I'll make sure you don't get in my way."
The sound of metal scraping against bone filled the room as he pulled the ax slowly from his own skull. The resounding cracks as his skull knits itself back together were deafening. Muscle growing over the exposed bone in a spiderweb of motion. His skin stitched itself back together, following the guided paths.
"Now, it's your turn to hold still."
"SAM-"
George woke up with a start. Covers falling from his upper half as he bolted upright. His vision blurring at the sudden movement and awakening. Mind still foggy from exhaustion, he looked around the room. The oak boards and paintings rang bells in his mind. Familiar but something wasn't sitting right. Where was he?
Pushing the warm covers further off himself. Before he gave up and
kicked them off the bed. Sleep still rooted in his brain, it took everything in him to leave the warmth of the bed. Weighing him back towards the mattress and blue blankets. Begging him to sleep away his day. The new room shouldn't be his concern. It was a good shelter anyways. Wait, not new. He knew this place. He still couldn't place his finger on it. The name was right on the tip of his tongue. That was until his reflection caught his eye from the body mirror pressed into the corner. Effectively distracting him from whatever his train of thought was.
It was George, yeah. Bed messed dark brown hair. Bright blue eyes with flecks of dark brown. Pale skin, despite how much sun he gets. There he stood in the mirror, his signature blue cover shirt with a white button up below it. Faded blue pants that have seen better days. So much was missing. His white spotted red mushrooms, his cloak of moss, his white rimmed goggles. Didn't he leave those on the table? Turning back to the bed, there stood his signature goggles on a bedside table. Right beside his picture of Sapnap and Dream. Didn't he lose that a while ago? It was the one where Dream had both of them in a headlock. The other's mask was pushed to the side so everyone could see his smile. They were all laughing at some dumb joke. What day was it?
"FUCK I'M LATE"
He grabs the goggles and a bag hanging off the oak bed post. Shoving his feet into a pair of heavy duty boots pressed against the wall. Not even bothering with lacing them before he ran out of the small room. His previous exhaustion faded away. Did it ever exist in the first place? Making his way through the group home as fast as he could. The halls always seemed to run on forever. Especially when he was late. Ignoring the people gathered in the large common room. Giving a brief wave in the direction of someone calling his name as he darted out the door. He'll make it up to them later.
He didn't stop running till he got to the large open field he was supposed to be at three hours ago. Sapnap and Dream are already sitting across from each other in knee high grass. Clothes stained with mud, they probably spared while waiting for him. Stumbling over his own two feet and the hidden stones laying on the worn path they always used. As he got closer, Dream called out to him. Hand raised as he waved him down.
"Hey goggy, you missed the show!"
Dream lets out a wheeze as Sapnap hits him in the side, hard, causing the guy to choke on his own spit.
"Shut up! You tell him and I drown you"
George scoffs softly as he sits down across from the pair. A faint smile ghosted his lips before he caught sight of an odd book in Dream's lap. The green spiral sent a spike of anxiety through him. When the other noticed, he shoved the book in his bag. Tucking it behind him before tilting his head.
"So welcome to hanging out. It started a while ago"
George sputtered as he jolted back reflexively. Shrugging with a nervous laugh before tumbling out.
"Sorry I overslept, I think I had a really weird dream again."
"Was it that weird egg again?"
Sapnap was concerned again but when wasn't the demon hybrid.
George shrugs in response before adding on to the motion.
"Can't really remember. I think something about mushrooms."
"Maybe it's for the best."
Dream's voice jolted George out of his train of thought.
"Yeah, maybe. Besides! I wouldn't have been late if someone had gotten me up."
Sapnap gasps dramatically as he stands up, shoving George. Dream watches them bicker. George takes the time to pull his goggles onto his head as they wander towards the small clearing. Tuning out their words as his fingers ghost over his bag, over the book. His smile turns demented as he chuckles under his breath. It looks like he's in the clear. George's memories are gone for good this time. That means he did it right, despite the stupid books gibberish. As long as George thinks it's all odd dreams, he won't have to keep George asleep. He missed having the other around. Maybe he'll convince him to rule the smp with him. This time had already started off far better than before. George lacked memories and Karl's nowhere to be found. He's not even remembered. No one stood in his way. He'll make sure the smp stays how it should be. No more games, no more compromises. This time, there will be blood.
