Chapter Text

The sun rises.

There was electricity in the air as the residents of the grand kingdom woke up and started heading to the steps of the palace. A prince was about to be born.

At the palace stood the king, Technoblade. Standing on the roof, the wind flowing through his mesmerizing pink hair, his eyes staring at the sun through his warthog skull, he waited. Having no wife of his own but needing to have an heir, the king confided in a friend and asked if she would be able to help him. It had been a long nine months but finally, the anticipation was just barely shaking him.

Techno watched as his residents gathered at the steps, waiting to meet the new prince. He looked down, recognizing old friends and smiling as some of them had kids of their own, hoping that these young children would accept the prince.

Behind him, he heard footsteps. A bald Italian man walked up and gave him a slight bow.

“Sire, it’s time.”

“Not yet it’s not. He hasn’t arrived yet.”

Fit walked up next to Techno and looked out into the horizon. He saw what looked like a black cloud rapidly approaching.

“He’s here now.”

Techno looked up as the first few crows flew past him. Among the murder of crows was a tall blonde man adorned in a green robe, his heart emblem front and centered on his shirt, and a striped hat with an emerald shard attached to it, glistening in the morning sun. What made this man so amazing was his wings. He flew through the sky with these big feathered wings among his birds, just feeling the wind and magic. He quickly dipped down among the crowd and showered them in feathers. There were shouts of joy and laughter as he lifted himself up and gracefully landed on the castle ledge in front of the king. After shaking the wind from his wings and tucking them in, he dramatically bowed before Techno.

“Your Majesty.”

He looked up, a small smile spread on the king's face. The crow father gave a small yet loud laugh at his own goofiness. Both men opened their arms and hugged. It had been awhile since the old friends had seen each other. The hug was full of love and excitement. After they pulled away, the crow walked over to Fit. Both men reached out their hands, grabbed each other's arms and pulled themselves into their own hug.

The comradery was strong and the future was bright. Techno looked at his friends. Fit. His right hand man. His advisor. Someone he could trust with his future. Philza. His best friend. Years of fighting side by side, he trusted the Gods that protected Phil and gave him his power. Nothing made this kingdom stronger than the three of them together. Techno nodded. Now it was time.

“Fit. Lead the way.”

The three men walked down to the infirmary. While Fit and Phil talked, Techno got lost in his mind. He was about to have a child. Someone to pass down his wisdom and teach to become a warrior.

As they walked to the door, it flew open. A tired looking nurse looked at Techno.

“My Lord,” she sighed happily. “It’s a boy.”

Fit and Phil cheered, patted Techno on the back, and congratulated him. He barely heard them. He slowly walked in, approached the small bed in the middle of the room, and looked in. In the tiny bed, was an even tinier being. The child was quiet. His blonde hair already coming in. As the child opened his eyes, he looked up curiously with piercing blue eyes. Techno was told his child would be part dragon. He already saw tiny horns poking out of his little head.

Slowly, Techno reached in, and gently picked up the child. He felt so small, fragile. It was a wonder how they all started out like this. Powerless, defenseless. This kid was dependent solely on Techno and he couldn’t wait to teach him about the world.

Techno held him close as he turned to his friends, who were beaming with pride. He started to walk out, his friends followed silently. They walked to the throne room where eventually they would walk out to meet the public. First, Techno walked up to a basin full of red liquid and turned to Phil.

“Do your magic, bird man.”

Philza walked up to the basin and reached into his robe. He pulled out a small skull mask. Phil then reached for one of his feathers and plucked it. He dipped the quill into the basin and wrote an incantation on the forehead of the skull. For protection, bravery, strength, and growth. Phil called upon his deities to bless not only the mask but also the child. After a small show of light and love, Phil placed the mask on the curious child. It fit but barely.

Phil giggled. “He’ll grow into it.”

“I know he will. He already takes after me.”

Fit walked up. “So what’s his name?”

Techno looked down and said the first name he thought of.

“Chayanne.”

His friends looked at him curiously.

“I’m not sure what made me think about it, but that name has been screaming at me for over a week now.”

Phil put a hand on his shoulder. “You might also have a God looking after you.”

Techno smiled. He looked at Fit. “Let’s go.”

All three men walked outside to the absolute crowd of people. They all waited patiently as Techno handed Chayanne to Phil and placed himself next to The Bell.

Phil walked up to be in front of the crowd and slowly raised Chayanne. Once he was in the air, Techno rang the bell and the crowd cheered. They had a Prince. After a few more rings, Techno walked up to Phil who handed Chayanne back to him. Techno looked out at all his friends and family. Happiness and magic and excitement filled the air. But someone was missing. As Techno looked at Fit, they made eye contact and they both knew.

In the basement of the castle, was the trophy room. Full of weapons and trophies of the king's past wars. But not just the kings, as this purple figure saw. He walked past a plague gas mask and an enchanted trident. Memories of war for his friends.

This tall, dark, glowing purple man walked up to a map. A map of his own home that had been lost thanks to that greedy bird man. The man, lost in his anger, scratched at the map.

“That was unnecessary.”

The figure turned to face the bald man named Fit. He growled at him.

“Leave me to my misery.”

Fit chuckled. “As much as I would love to, unfortunately the king is looking for you.”

The man flinched. King. He was a king!

“And why would he do that?”

“Maybe because you messed up by being absent for the important event this morning. So pick yourself up and stop being sorry for yourself. You should be grateful you’re even alive.”

The figure lunged at Fit and grabbed him by his shirt. “Don’t patronize me, you bald freak!”

“Enderking!” A loud, commanding voice came from the entrance of the room. “Let. Him. Go.”

“Impeccable timing, Techno.” Fit chuckled before being shoved off by the Enderking.

Enderking gave a fake, dramatic bow.

“Ah, the king graces me with his mighty presence. To what do I owe this honor?”

“The boys and I didn’t see you at the presentation of Chayanne.”

 Enderking faked surprise.

“That was today?” He walked over to a chair and began to stretch. “Oh I feel so awful.” As he stretched, he let out an Enderman screech that caused Fit to cringe and cover his ears. After his stretch, he collapsed into the chair. “Must have slipped my mind.”

Fit inched toward him. “Well maybe if you cared a little extra about people other than yourself, you wouldn’t be here. The king was gracious enough to take you in after your home fell and this is how you repay him?”

Enderking flashed to be in front of Fit, who was startled enough to fall back behind Techno.

“I didn’t ask for help. And I most certainly didn’t feel the need to socialize for some bastard child.”

Techno stepped in front of Fit and Enderking and looked down on the broken man. “That ‘bastard child’ is my son. And your future king. Unfortunately for you, I expect you to be a part of this big picture or I’ll send you out. If I don’t decide to kill you first.”

The Enderking scoffed. “I’d rather swim than help you raise a future dictator.”

He started to walk away but Techno called out to him. “Don’t turn your back on my generosity, Ender.”

“Your generosity will get you killed, your majesty. So I suggest you watch your back.”

Enraged, Techno pulled out his sword and flew in front of the Enderking, pointing the edge of the blade at his throat.

He growled. “Is that a threat?”

Enderking scoffed and pushed the blade away. “You might have once been a great warrior, but your days are behind you now. Soon you won’t be strong enough to save yourself. Or your friends.”

Enderking walked past him and walked out of the room. Techno put his sword away and sighed. Fit walked up beside him and pat his shoulder.

“Don’t let him get to you, boss. I don’t think he’s ever been happy.”

“What am I going to do with him?”

Fit thought for a second. “Push him into a lake?”

Techno chuckled. “Fit, please be serious.”

“I am! See if he really will die. Then Phil could come back and live with us again.”

Techno chuckled as he and Fit left the room and prepared for the future.

Chapter Text

For the next ten years, Techno learned what it meant to be a dad and a King. To his surprise, everyone wanted to help raise Chayanne. His friends slowly had their kids introduce themselves and before long, they were a little family of siblings. To his dismay, the Enderking was present but no help. Chayanne knew him as Uncle Ender but that was it.

One morning, some time after his 10th birthday, Chayanne woke up before the sun. Today was a special day. His dad was going to show him more of the kingdom and teach him how to be king.

Chayanne flew down the stairs, skipping steps on the way. He passed by all the artwork of his father and his friends. Artwork he would stare at for hours just imagining him and his friends as this regal.

As he ran, the duck bracelet, given to him by Philza for his birthday, jingled happily. What would the day hold?

Chayanne dodged past servants and maids, replying to everyone’s “Good Morning”. There was only one place his father would be this early in the morning. Chayanne finally arrived at the training grounds and looked around to find his dad standing at the front of the class, instructing how to handle a sword.

“This weapon is an extension of yourself. Just like you trained yourself how to write, you can also train yourself to fight.”

Chayanne ran straight to Technos leg and started tugging on his pant leg.

“Dad Dad Dad we gotta go!”

Techno looked down at his son and patted his head.

“In a minute, Son. Class just started.”

“But Dad, we gotta go!”

Techno was focused on his students. He whispered to the other instructors about who was doing well and who needed help. Chayanne, frustrated and eager, walked a good distance away. He made sure his skull mask was fitted and his horn nubs were exposed. He started running full force to his dad and, like a baby goat, butted his dad in the leg, forcing Techno to lose all equilibrium and causing him to take a knee.

Surprised, he looked at his son, starting to scold him, but took one look at Chayanne’s disappointed face and felt his heart break.

“You promised,” he said, letting some hurt flow out.

Techno sighed and picked up his son. Chayanne sure knew how to get what he wanted.

“You’re right. Let’s go.”

Chayanne burst with happiness and climbed onto his fathers shoulders, holding onto his crown for balance.

Techno said his goodbyes and walked out, taking Chayanne to the roof. Once there, Techno pulled Chayanne down and set him on the roof. They both looked out, just in time to see the sun rise over the horizon and become flooded in its golden light. Chayanne looked out in awe. He had seen everything from his bedroom before. He’s even walked the roads of the village before. But something felt so different and powerful seeing the kingdom from the roof and taking in all this magic.

Techno felt the air on his face and sighed. “Look at this, Son. Everything the light touches, shows us the accomplishments we can make.”

“Wooooow.”

Techno smiled. “One day, you will have to take over. So it’s important for you to know how we operate and protect ourselves.”

“And fight!”

Chayanne posed in a ready stance and Techno chuckled. “Not yet, little warrior. You’ll learn to fight when the time is right.”

Chayanne looked up at his dad but then got distracted by the dark red desert in the distance. He walked over to that side of the roof and looked out.

“Dad, what’s that?”

Techno looked out and frowned. Memories of a rescue flooded his mind. The feeling of sadness and regret heavy on his heart.

“Those are the Purge Deserts. An awful battle that lasted two weeks destroyed the sands and created awful monsters. They are wild and you must never go out there.”

“But I thought it was our job to bring everyone together.”

“Sometimes, Son, you have to know when to quit and just let it fall. There is no instance of a nation benefitting from prolonged warfare.”

Chayanne listened but still had no idea how to interpret what his father was saying. He felt that sometimes his father forgot he was just a kid and right now his quotes were just going over his head.

Techno turned from the deserts and started to lead Chayanne away.

“Come. There’s something I want to show you.”

 Chayanne excitedly followed. “There’s more?”

 Techno chuckled.

Out in the potato farms, Techno took Chayanne walking through tall grass. Chayanne ran around picking up sticks to find the perfect one. In the distance, farmers waved at the king and young prince, who then would wave back. Chayanne found a stick and started waving it around. Techno smiled and spent some time gently showing him simple stances and easy swinging tactics.

After a while, Techno and Chayanne found a boulder to sit on.

“Son, what do you see?”

Chayanne looked around. He didn’t see much. “Potatoes for miles and mountains?”

Techno laughed. “Close. Come see what I see.”

Techno picked up his son and set him in his lap. As he talked, he used his hand to point so that Chayanne could follow along.

“You were right about the potatoes, but what I also see is the farmers harvesting said potatoes to take them to your Uncle Tubbo, who then takes them on his trains to other kingdoms. Then those kingdoms send us their resources on his trains and suddenly, Bagi and Tina can bake, Foolish can build, and our kingdom can thrive. Being a king also means taking care of the people who follow us. They trust us with their lives so protecting them and leading them is the least we can do.”

Chayanne looked out in amazement at his town. Everyone worked in Harmony. Everything looked perfect. He hoped nothing changed.

A caw could be heard above them. As they looked up, a crow landed on Technos shoulders and whispered in his ear. Chayanne couldn’t understand the crows yet. Apparently, when he was old enough, he would be able to hear them talk to him. But for now, he watched his dad.

Techno nodded and sent the crow back to its job. Philza had trained his crows a long time ago to be able to send messages and act as fast travel communication. It applied to the whole kingdom. All the adults can hear the crows but the kids would learn, someday.

“Fit is on his way with the morning report.”

Chayanne was excited to see Fit but not happy about the boring stuff. He could never stay awake for his studies and half the time he just wanted to be outside either with his friends or pretending to fight off bad guys. Did he really need to know all this stuff?

Chayanne jumped from his dads lap and the boulder just as Fit walked up. They did a little fist bump before Fit started talking to Techno.

“Sleep well last night?”

“You know I don’t sleep.”

“Right. So here’s what I know.”

As Fit went on about resource news and possible Purge enemies, Chayanne practiced his swings with his stick. Techno got up to walk over to him as Fit started to complain about Philza.

“He keeps asking me when I’ll marry, but it’s impossible to date right now.”

Techno bent down to Chayanne and turned him to Fit. “Want to learn how to sneak?”

Fit ranted on as Chayanne blended into the grass, his father whispering to him.

“Light feet. Small breaths. Weapon in hand to quickly attack.”

Fit finally noticed Techno wasn’t in front of him so he turned expecting to see two people, but only found Techno standing. Fit looked around. “Where’s Chayanne?”

WHAM

A stick met Fits shin at full speed, causing Fit to cry out and collapse to hold his leg.

“GOD-WHAT THE-”

Techno burst out laughing as Chayanne walked up to him proudly. Techno picked him up and twirled him around, overjoyed and proud of his son.

“Fantastic!”

Fit groaned. Techno was always using him to teach Chayanne something. Chayanne might have been small but holy hell did he take after his dad in the feisty department. As Fit stood, the sounds of cawing and flapping filled his ears. He looked up to see at least three crows flying towards them. Fit took the messages.

Techno set Chayanne down. “Now, we need to bulk up your arms to do serious damage.”

As they both laughed, Fit yelled “Techno! Purge Cannibals! On the edge of town!”

Techno dropped everything and stood, readying his sword. “Fit, take Chayanne home.”

“But Dad, I can help.”

Techno turned and said in a stern voice “Absolutely not. It’s too dangerous. Go home.”

As Techno followed the crows, sword in hand, Chayanne watched him leave, a little sad. He walked over to Fit who picked him up and put him on his shoulders.

“Fit, why is it that I have to learn boring stuff before doing the fighting and stuff?”

Fit chuckled. “You’re still a kid. Your dad doesn’t want you growing up too fast.”

Chayanne laid his chin on Fits head. “But I could help.”

Fit sighed as he started to walk back to the palace. “Trust me, kid. You’re not ready for that.”

Chapter Text

Back at the palace, Enderking walked the halls. These days, the only thing he could do was walk around and sulk in the shadows. Noticing how everything worked and where everything was. Being forced to live in this awful place made him tired. He missed his home. The waterfall wall, his citizens, his life. Damn that Bird Man.

It didn’t help that TechnoBlade forced him to entertain his spawn. This child had no discipline and too much energy. He would never be a good king. Speaking of…

The little devil himself ran in, looking for his “Uncle”.

“Uncle Ender! Guess what!”

Enderking sighed deeply. “I can’t possibly guess what you’ll tell me.”

“My dad says I’m gonna take over the kingdom one day.”

Enderking rolled his eyes. “Brilliant. And I’m sure you have many plans for how to control your subjects?”

Chayanne giggled. “They’re family, Uncle! No one in the kingdom is a subject.”

Enderking collapsed on a sofa next to a window. “That’s not how I see it. And I’m sure your father explained the Purge Deserts to you?”

Chayanne fell silent. Puzzled, Enderking looked at the future war monger and realized Techno hadn’t explained anything about those deserts. Perfect.

Chayanne eventually looked at him and said “My dad said I shouldn’t go there.”

Enderking sat up. “And he is perfectly right. That treasure is not something a child should go looking for.”

Chayanne’s ears perked up. “Treasure?”

Enderking pretended to gasp and look defeated. “Oh, I shouldn’t have said anything. But the rumor is the war was over some diamond city buried under the sand. You're fathers greed nearly destroyed the land.”

Chayanne was only half listening. “It’s still there?”

Enderking hid his sly smile. “Only the bravest, strongest warrior can find this treasure. And since your father never could, who knows if anybody ever will.”

Chayanne quickly ran out of the room. “Bye, Uncle Ender!”

Enderking smiled. What a fool that child was.

Behind him, black feathers fell from the roof.

In the kingdom, it was business as usual. Tina and Bagi operate their bakery, Foolish looking over new building blueprints, Tubbo working under a train car, and all the children running around, playing a game only they understood the rules for.

Chayanne ran through the streets, shouting “Excuse me!” to villagers, waving to his uncles and aunts, until he entered a garden full of flowers and animals.

In the middle of this garden, was a small girl with long, messy brown hair, wrapped in a green cloak and humming a tune. She was petting a capybara with its head in her lap when Chayanne burst through the trees shouting “TALLULAH I NEED TO TALK TO YOU!”

Tallulah jumped which caused the capy and other animals to run away. Tallulah looked happily at her adopted brother.

“Chayanne! Where have you been?”

“My dad’s been keeping me busy with school work and training but he’s busy with some cannibals right now so I’m free.”

Chayanne collided with Tallulah and gave her a giant hug. “Come on! We’re going on an adventure!”

Tallulah laughed. “Okay!”

“Niños!”

Tallulah and Chayanne jumped as Tallulah’s dad Missa showed up. “I heard Chayanne yelling so I figured something was wrong!”

The siblings laughed as Tallulah walked up to her nervous father. “Everything’s ok, Pa. But can Chayanne and I go meet the others at the playground?”

Chayanne was always getting Tallulah into trouble. Whenever Chayanne said they were going on an adventure, Tallulah always ended up calling for help or left to defend herself. She wasn’t the strongest fighter but she couldn’t help but follow Chayanne whenever he called on her. They did everything together. But her dad, Missa, was always nervous about letting her go with Chayanne. Missa was a reaper and always feared when Tallulah went out in case the next person he reaped was her.

Missa sighed behind his skull mask and scratched his head, which was covered in long black hair. He knew he couldn’t stop her, but he could make sure she stayed safe.

“Alright, but be home in time for dinner. We’re meeting with Phil tonight.”

The two kids cheered and were about to run off when Missa shouted “But as long as Fit goes with you!”

They both stopped and groaned “Not Fit!”

Missa called upon a crow and whispered in its ear to tell Fit to come get the kids. As they waited, he watched as Tallulah showed Chayanne what flowers were ready to bloom and what animals were new. He thought to himself. He couldn’t blame Chayanne for his warrior spirit, but he knew it was going to be his downfall. Something was on the horizon. His biggest reap was coming but he couldn’t tell who it was. He just prayed to Phils goddess that everything was going to be ok.
