Chapter Text

“Alright, I’ve run out of patience.” Tony sighed, staring at Steve with tired eyes. He cupped is hand around his mouth. “Underoos!” He called out and watched with some satisfaction as the young red and blue clad superhero sprang into the air and webbed the Captain’s wrists together, stealing the shield in one sleek move. “Nice job, kid.” Tony said, watching said kid land neatly a few feet away.

“Thanks! Well, I could have stuck the landing a bit better but it’s just a new suit.” The boy rambled. “Wait, it’s something, Mr. Stark, really! It’s perfect. Thank you. It’s-“

Tony shook his head, “Yeah, we don’t really need to start a conversation.” He said, huffing in slight amusement. He hears Rhodey cover a laugh with a cough from his side and his lips twitch before falling back into a neutral expression.

“Okay.” The kid muttered before turning and sending a salute to Steve. “Cap- Captain!” He greeted. “Big fan.” He paused, gesturing to himself. “Spider-Man” He introduced, his voice squeaky and nervous. Yeah, Tony thought, more like spider baby.

“Yeah, we’ll talk about it later. Just-” Tony interrupted, “Good job.”

“Hey everyone.”

Ignoring the boys words he turned back to look at Steve.

“You’ve been busy.” The super soldier said, his shoulders squared.

Tony huffed in response. “And you’ve been a complete idiot. Dragging in Clint. Rescuing Wanda from a place she doesn’t even want to leave. A safe place! I’m trying to keep-“ he broke off, shaking his head and taking a pained breath, “I’m trying to keep you from tearing the Avengers apart.”

Natasha was frowning as her eyes darted back in forth between the two of them, but she doesn’t add anything to the conversation.

“You did that when you signed.” The other man said firmly, looking at Tony with disappointment shining in his blue eyes. Tony ripped his gaze away for a moment, trying to ignore the bitter feelings that particular look evoked in him.

“Alright, we’re done.” Tony said, swallowing a scoff. He looked at Steve, his teammate, his friend. “You’re gonna turn Barnes over, you’re gonna come with us now. Because-“

His words were cut off as a piercing screech filled the air and lights started flashing so brightly that Tony had to slam his eyes shut. He felt his faceplate close and peeked his eyes opening, sighing in relief when FRIDAY filtered the brightness around them.

“Fri, what is this?” He muttered, staring at the hud.

“I’m not sure, Boss. It seems like a large surge of unidentified energy.” FRIDAY informed him promptly. He braced himself as there was a loud bang and then the lights faded, leaving two figures standing huddled in between the two groups of feuding Avengers. Barton, Maximoff, and Vision having made their ways closer at the commotion.

Tony sucked in a breath as he took in the people standing in front of them, his repulsor raised threateningly. He could see all of the others arming themselves similarly, falling into defensive positions and it was almost like they were still a team for a few seconds.

First his eyes took in the slightly larger figure who was standing protectively over the other.

He was hunched protectively over the smaller figure, wearing what look like a… a futuristic version of the Spider-Man suit the kid was wearing a few feet behind him. It was sleek metal with darker colors but it still had the signature spider emblem and red and blue. The masked man’s head had shot up as Tony surveyed him and he was scanning his surroundings, the eyes of his mask narrowing before widening dramatically.

Tony moved his attention to the other figure. A female figure in a suit that looked eerily similar to the designs of his own Iron Man suit. It was extremely similar to her companions suit in that it was much more advanced than anything Tony had ever seen. Purple and silver, but much smoother looking where his own was bulky.

What the fuck was happening?

“What. The. Fuck.” The Spider imposter spat, unknowingly echoing Tony’s own thoughts. Yeah buddy, that’s what I’d like to know.

“Who are you?” Steve growled, body tense as he stared at the duo. His question went ignored and Tony elected to observe for a few moments before intervening.

“Swear jar!” The other, definitely female voice chirped through a voice modulator, poking her friend in the shoulder. She had stood from her crouched position and was spinning in a circle as she her surroundings. Her buddy was standing tensely, eyes darting across all of the assorted hero’s.

“Fuck!” The unknown (?) man yelled again.

The female figure stopped spinning and slapped the man on the shoulder. “Swear jar!” She repeated, tutting in obvious disappointment.

The man groaned and Tony decided he’d had enough of observing. “Hey, storm troopers! Mind telling us what your business here is? We’re kind of in the middle of something.” He called, shivering slightly as two head snapped towards him.

“We’re not in Kansas anymore, Toto.” The female figure uttered, sounding oddly choked. Tony couldn’t tell for sure with the masks but he was pretty sure the man rolled his eyes in response.

“Now is not the time for out-of-date pop culture references” The red and blue clad man snapped.

“First of all, there is always time for pop culture references, and second, The Wizard of Oz is timeless you peasant, how dare you?” The girl retorted, somehow popping out a hip in her suit.

“Hello.” The man said, trying to keep both groups in his eyeline. “We don’t mean anyone any harm. A sorcerer-“

“I’m sorry did he just say a sorcerer?!”

“-hit us with a spell-”

“A magic spell?”

“-and now we’re here.“ The man finished, ignoring the interruptions with the ease of someone who deals with that on a daily basis. “And now we’ll just be going and you can continue your-“ he paused, gesturing vaguely at the assembled Avengers, “lovers spat.” He decided, waving and grabbing his companions arm to pull her away from the squabbling heroes.

“What?!” The girl squawked, ripping her arm from his grasp. “We can’t just leave!”

“What do you mean?! Do you know where we are?” The man hissed back, waving his arms wildly, his voice losing its composed air and giving way to panic.

“Exactly!” The girl retorted, crossing her arms stubbornly.

The man shook his head wildly. “No. No. We are going to go and find somewhere to wait for Strange to come retrieve us. No interference.” He said firmly, a hint of command in his voice.

“But-“ The girl protested.

“Okay, what is going on here? You have thirty seconds to give us an answer.” Natasha finally cut in, watching them with a calculated gaze.

The man puffed up, stepping in front of the girl protectively. “Try me.” He hissed threateningly, his head tilted as he held the spy’s gaze.

“Peter-“ The girl protested quietly and that is what really got Tony’s attention.

Listen, he wasn’t one to jump to conclusions but he’s a genius, okay? He can add one plus one and get two. Man shows up talking about magic wearing a futuristic Spider-Man suit that reeked of Stark tech and his little partner called him Peter. What he didn’t know was who the girl was.

“You’re from the future.” Tony interrupted firmly. Not a question.

All heads snapped to him and his teammates started protesting but Tony only had eyes for the duo in front of him. The man, Peter, had gone eerily still and the girl was bouncing on her feet in excitement.

“Why would you-“

“That’s not possible.”

“How would-“

“Yup!” The female chirped, popping the ‘p’ at the end. “2035!”

“Don’t-“ Peter hissed, shaking his head.

The girls mask folded back into the body of her suit before forming into a pair of glasses like magic. Nanotechnology. Fascinating, he had been working on it but it was only theory at this point.

Tony started at the bright face staring back at him. The girl was young, around sixteen if he were to guess. She had dark brown hair that fell down her shoulder in waves and shining brown eyes that gave Tony the strangest sense of deja vu. She was smiling cheekily at the group around her, but not in the normal hero worshipping way. A wistful, almost melancholy look painted her freckled face.

“Little Miss!” Spider-Man, because he definitely sounded like a man now, hissed chidingly.

“There’s no way.” Rhodey spoke up, eyeing the two speculatively.

“Oh there’s a way.” The brunette returned, smiling cheekily. She paused for dramatic effect before continuing, her eyes twinkling with delight. “Uncle Rhodey.”

Her smirk spread as her bomb had the intended effect. Tony staggered back, his faceplate lifting as he stared in surprise. The others made various noises of shock around him but Tony only had eyes for her.

James Rhodes was an only child, same as Tony and there was only one person whose child would call the man ‘Uncle’.

Suddenly the other Spider-Man’s mask retracted back into his suit and he shook his head at the girl, brows furrowed in disappointment.

Underoos had been silent behind Tony for the last few minutes but he could hear the startled sound the boy made at the sight of… himself. Certainly older but… him. Taller, stronger looking, with a beard.

Really Morgan?” The man deadpanned, pinching the bridge of his nose.

The teen stuck her tongue out at the exasperated man.

“You are so grounded when we get home.” He said firmly, shaking his head as he avoided the gazes boring into him.

“You can’t ground me.” The girl, Morgan, said with a scoff. Tony was impressed, she held her ground for a good twenty seconds before slumping under the gaze of her… friend? What was the relationship between his future child and a future version of Spider-Man.

“Fine.” She mumbled, scuffing her foot against the ground.

“You’re- you’re-“ Tony stuttered, still gaping at the girl.

She smiled brightly as she turned to face him, though he saw a hint of sadness cross her face as she answered. “Your daughter. Morgan H. Stark at your service.” She said with a mock curtsy.

“Morgan H. Stark.” Tony repeated numbly.

“Great now we’re all introduced and caught up and everything.” The older Parker said sarcastically.

“We’re really not.” Cap cut in, frowning.

“Strange is going to kill me.” Tony heard the time traveler mutter under his breath.

“Come on, Petey-Pie! You’re supposed to be the fun brother!” Morgan whined, leaning into his side.

Brother?!

“Brother?!” The younger Peter squeaked, jumping down to stand next to Tony. He was wringing his hands as he watched his counterpart.

Really?” Peter said, raising a sardonic brow. “I’m the fun brother?”

Morgan nodded, smiling beatifically. “Of course.”

Said brother hummed in response, returning a deceptively serene smile. “I’ll make sure to inform Harls when we get home then.”

Harls? Harley?!

Morgan’s mouth dropped open and her eyes widened. “Wait but-“ She cut off, mouth snapping shut with a click.

“Hm?” Peter grinned, “What’s that? Something to say?”

Morgan’s nose scrunched and she looked to the side with a small pout that reminded Tony of Pepper.

“Okay that’s enough.” Cap spoke up again, voice firm. “You want us to believe that you’re some sort of- some sort of time travelers? Tony’s kid from the future?”

Peter snorted derisively and Tony heard his younger counterpart gasp at the disrespect. “You woke up seventy years in the future, you’ve fought aliens, met gods and somehow time travel is unfathomable to you?”

“Don’t be rude!” Morgan chided, smiling apologetically at the Captain. “Sorry he’s just hangry.”

“Morgan! I am not hangry! We’re literally nineteen years in the past!” Peter snapped, rolling his eyes at the teenager.

“You know exactly how far back you traveled?” Natasha questioned, hands hovering over her knives.

Peter rolled his eyes again and Tony held in a snort at the scandalized sounds the younger version was making at his future selves blatant disregard for the Avengers. “You guys are having a pissing contest over the Accords, right?”

Steve made an affronted noise but Tony nodded in confirmation. “That’s pretty much the gist of it.”

“Then yes, I know exactly how far back we’ve traveled.” Peter confirmed, sarcasm lacing his tone.

“Alright well obviously you’re Spider-Man.” Tony said, pointing at the younger and older counterparts. “What are you supposed to be, exactly?” He asked, gesturing to the girl’s nano suit.

“I’m Iron Queen” The girl informed him proudly, standing taller under his attention.

“She’s not supposed to be anything because she’s supposed to be in school  right now, not fighting a rogue wizard.” Peter added, his tone firm and chiding.

Morgan scoffed, “You were even younger than me when you started superheroing! You were fourteen! And you can’t tell me you didn’t skip classes.” She retorts, pointing at the kid standing just behind Tony’s shoulder. “See he’s right there. Bet he’s probably supposed to be in school right now too, hm?”

“Did she just say fourteen?” Clint muttered, eyes wide.

”Did she just use ‘superheroing’ as a verb?” Wanda’s accented voice added with a snort, red mist leaking from her palms.

“Do as I say, not as I do.” Peter returned, avoiding the questions.

“Plus Spidey Junior was there too!” Morgan added defensively.

Peter threw his hands up in the air. “Yeah well, he should’ve been in school too.” He huffed. “You’re obviously a bad influence on him.”

“Wow, Iron Queen. That’s pretty cool.” Tony praised, ignoring the rest of that conversation. He was pointedly not thinking about the implications of ‘Spidey Junior’.

“Right?!” Morgan said, smiling happily. “Anyway so, the accords, huh? Such an interesting topic. Wouldn’t ya know, I’m something of an expert on the topic. How about we all sit down and have a nice civil conversation about it.” She said musingly, power lacing her tone subtly.

“Morgs! Jesus fucking Christ! We cannot interfere!” Peter scolded.

“Why not, huh?” Morgan yelled, suddenly sounding choked up and angry. “We could- we could save… everyone!”

“But-“

“Peter we’ve already irrevocably changed this timeline by even appearing here, it’s already branching off. You know this. You know how the multiverse works. We might not be able to do anything to change our past but we can change their future!” Morgan cut him off fiercely.

“What do you mean save everyone? Save everyone from what?” Steve asked, before speaking quietly into a comms device under his breath.

Morgan held eye contact with her brother pleadingly for a full thirty seconds before the duo turned back to the group.

Peter sighed tiredly, running a finger through his hair. “You should get everyone out here. It’s a long story. But here’s some incentive for a nice friendly chat if any of you are still itching for a fight.” First he looks at Tony, “The Sokovia Accords are flawed and need to be amended. Ross can’t be in the picture for that. Not that that’s news to you, Mr. Stark.” Then Steve, “The other Winter Soldiers are dead and Siberia is a trap.” And finally, T’Challa who Tony hadn’t even noticed had approached the group, “Your Majesty, Barnes did not kill your father, he was framed by a man named Helmut Zemo. The same man laying the trap for Captain America over there.” He says, holding eye contact with all of them for a few moments before sighing and looking at Morgan. “The things I do for you, Little Miss.” He said ruefully.

The little Stark smiled brightly and launched herself forward to tackle her brother in a bear hug that the man happily returned.

“Shall we?” Peter asked, smirking as he looked back at the dumbfounded group.

“Bullshit! You expect us to- to just believe this?” Clint sputtered, looking around wildly. “This is crazy!” He stared at Natasha, “Right?”

Nat grimaced slightly before her face was smooth once more. She hummed. “They don’t seem to be lying but there’s an easy way to know, isn’t there?”

“What is it?” Steve asked, brows furrowed and Tony also found himself curious about what she was going to say.

She jerked her chin at Spider-Kid, whose eyes widened dramatically if the lenses of his mask were any indication. Which they were, of course. Tony had coded them himself and he’d made them extremely expressive so he seemed friendlier. He was the ‘Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’ after all.  And then she tilted her head back towards the time traveling counterpart. “He’s supposed to be the younger version of him right? So he can take off his mask.” She said succinctly.

“W-what?” Underoos stammered nervously, hands darting up to the seam of his mask.

“He doesn’t have to do that.” The older Peter cut in, frowning. “I’m sure there’s some other way we can prove it.” His face was thoughtful for a few moments as he stared at the redhead but it wasn’t long before his eyes lit up.

He hummed speculatively and when he finally spoke his voice was careful and he was positioned protectively in front of Morgan once more. “In the future we still have the Avengers, of course.” his hands clenched as he explained “but they aren’t exactly the same, of course. A lot can change in twenty years.” He jokes with a forced sounding laugh before he straightens up again and holds Natasha’s gaze, “One of the members. The White Widow.” He smiles fondly. “Yelena is quite the force to be reckoned with. I’m fortunate to have her as a teammate.”

Natasha sucked in a shocked breath and her eyes went wide, her face paling in a shocking display of emotion. More emotion than Tony thinks he’s ever seen on their resident spy’s face.

“She’s the best.” Morgan added brightly. “She’s been teaching me how to throw knives.”

Peters mouth dropped open and his face snapped towards her. “She’s been doing what now?” He screeched. “I told her she had to wait until you were eighteen for weapons training! Mom agreed!”

Morgan scoffed. “Of course Mom agreed! She doesn’t want either of us to be doing this shit! And сестра-паук just wants me to be prepared, you can’t get mad at her for that! Plus, I asked her to teach me.”

Peter pursed his lips. “And she just agreed?” He asked his sister doubtfully.

“Yes.” She said with a decisive nod, earning doubtful looks from both her apparent brother and the rest of the present Avengers.

Older Peter raised one brow in disbelief. An expression that was very Pepper-like. Tony ignored that little thought and focused back on the bickering duo.

“Okay so maybe I bribed her a little bit and Kate has been supervising.” Morgan said, raising her hands in surrender.

“Bribed her with what?” Peter questioned, eyes narrowed.

Morgan bit her lip. “I told her I would buy her with a year supply of mac and cheese.” Pete stared at her and disbelief. “It was either that or ask Auntie Nebs when she comes for a visit.” The teenage girl said with a smirk.

Peter slumped in defeat. “No. At least ‘Lena will teach you safely. Nebula would probably start with trying to teach you how to dodge knives.”

“Petey, I already know how to dodge knives.” Morgan replied with a confused frown.

Peter pinched the bridge of his nose in exhaustion and Tony couldn’t help but want to echo the expression.

“We’re going to talk about that later.” Peter said after a few moments of tense silence. He looked back at Natasha, “Any of that mean anything to you?” He asked innocently, as though he hadn’t seen the woman’s  visible reaction.

“You know her? She’s okay?” Natasha asked, something Tony could almost label as desperation lacing her tone.

Peter pursed his lips, “She’s doing quite well in the future, if I do say so myself. However, I wouldn’t exactly say she’s okay now .”

“Oh.” Natasha breathes.

“I suppose that’s something we’ll have to talk about later. For now we should go, I don’t know how much time we have and we have a lot to tell you.” He says somewhat grimly.

“Who’s Yelena?” Steve wonders aloud, still staring distrustfully.

“My sister.” Natasha answers, almost inaudible.

You have a sister?” Tony asks incredulously. He had never heard her mention anything of the sort. Though he supposed he didn’t know much about her personal life or her past.

“Yes.” Natasha answers, nodding. “I believe them.”

“I trust you.” Clint says, shrugging.

“Me too.” Wanda agrees softly.

Steve still looks unsure but Tony grins, pointing a finger at the older Spider-Man. “I know that face. It may be older and he may have super awesome facial hair now but it’s still him. ‘Sup Underoos.”

Peter smiles bashfully, a hint of sorrow in his eyes that has Tony wondering. “Hey, Mr. Stark.” He says softly.

“Still calling me Mr. Stark, even in twenty years?” Tony jokes, winking at Morgan who beams in response.

“You’ll always be Mr. Stark to me.” Peter responds simply. He clears his throat, sad brown eyes darting away. “We need to go.” He repeats, “All the adults need to talk and little me needs to go home for the time being and find a way to talk to a certain someone about his secret identity. Unfortunately this little leech is stuck with me.” He says, gesturing to Morgan. “So. Stark Tower?” He asks expectantly.

Steve clears his throat. “It’s the Avengers Tower.” He corrects stiffly, eyes darting to Tony distrustfully.

Peter’s eyes widen, “Oh right.”

Morgan looks confused next to him but doesn’t say anything.

“So? Avengers Tower or the Compound, perhaps?” Peter prompts, putting extra emphasis on the word ‘Avengers’ in a voice Tony would almost classify as mocking.

“Probably best we go to the Tower.” Tony answered. “Less chance of Ross looking for these guys there.” He says, jerking his head towards Cap.

“Sergeant Barnes will be fine, Captain Rogers. From the future, remember?” Peter says reassuringly, but somewhat stiffly.

Morgan snorts. “Sergeant Barnes.” She mocks under her breath, not noticing the way Steve stiffens. “I am soooooo telling Jamie-boy you called him that when we get back home. He does so totally miss your whole respectful, hero-worshipping phase. What’s with the honorifics, webhead?”

Tony can’t help his snort which turns into a full laugh when the current ‘respectful, hero-worshipping’ Peter lets out an indignant squawk.

Older Peter rolls his eyes. “They don’t know us Morgs. It’s called being respectful. You should try it sometime. I don’t have to be respectful to our James because I’ve known him for fifteen years, he would laugh at me if I went being all formal. It’s bad enough doing it for the press. I’ll smack him in the head, if I want to. What’s he gonna do? Fight me?” Peter retorted snarkily, waving his hands.

”You know Bucky?” Steve asked loudly, eyes narrowed.

“Yup. James is our resident grumpy asshole. His cat is cute though.” Peter replied with a laugh.

“Okay, this guy is crazy.” Rhodey says decisively.

“I am not crazy!” Little Pete says defensively.

“Not yet!” Older Peter sing songs, smiling brightly. “Okay! Okay! I swear to Thor you guys weren’t always this slow, let’s go, lots of information, not a lot of time. Maybe. Probably.”

“Okay. Jeez, you got pushy.” Tony called out, nudging Underoos with his shoulder. “To the jet!” He calls, and turns and starts jogging in the direction of his jet, not looking to see if anyone follows him.

Rhodey jogs to catch up to him. “Do you understand anything that’s happening.”

“Nope” Tony says, popping the ‘p’ obnoxiously. “But I’m just going to go with it for now. What’s the worst thing what could happen?”

“Famous last words.” Rhodey says with a groan.

Tony pats him on the shoulder. “Don’t be so negative Honeybear!”

“Really Tones?” His best friend says, an unimpressed look on his face.

Tony is distracted from answering from answering when Morgan skips forward and links her arm with Rhodey unexpectedly, the man thankfully goes along with the young girl, lips twitching into an amused smile.

“So, Uncle Rhodey, how are you?” Morgan asks brightly. Somehow she is no longer in armour. Instead she’s in a preppy looking outfit, a pleated skirt, and a baggy sweater with some kind of collared shit under it and she was wearing a very interesting and advanced looking watch on her left wrist that Tony would bet his kidney is the nano housing unit.

Tony snickers as Rhodey answers the young girl indulgently. He listens to them chat as they walk and he can’t help but with she would’ve come talk to him instead. Tony was her father, wasn’t he?

Tony started when someone stepped up on his other side. It was the older Peter. He smiled down at Tony (and wasn’t that great, the boy grew to be at least three inches taller than him) understandingly and he tilted his head toward Morgan and Rhodey.

“Don’t worry Mr. Stark. She’ll come to harass you soon enough.” He says on a laugh. “She’ll get everyone. Her Uncle Rhodey has just always been her favorite!” Peter calls out the last part louder than the rest, catching the brunette girls attention.

She scowled over at Peter. “You’re one to talk, Mamas boy!”

Peter coughed, his cheeks flushing. “Morgan!” He scolds.

“Okay can I ask?” Tony says suddenly, looking at Peter in confusion. “Because last time I checked your mom was-“ he cleared his throat uncomfortably “dead. And last time I checked we’re not- not”

“Related.” Peter finished, smiling somewhat weakly.

”Last time you checked?“ Rhodey echoed incredulously, staring at Tony with wide eyes. He only shrugs in response.

“Peter’s adopted.” Morgan pipes up, smiling brightly and Tony’s mouth drops open in shock.

“Why would I- not that I- it’s just- your aunt! Is she-“

“Oh no! She’s fine! It’s- it’s complicated.” Peter says, shaking his head. “Morgan’s mom-“

Our mom!”

“-kind of adopted me, but I was already seventeen and it was more of a formality than anything. But yeah.”

Tony’s mouth dropped open and his mind was moving a mile a minute as he processed the information he had just been given. A few things weren’t adding up.

“Wait you said Morgan’s mom adopted you, not- not me? But Morgan is my daughter.” Tony asked in confusion.

Peter grimaced slightly, “Yes. I’ll- I’ll explain the best I can. Let’s just get to somewhere more secure before we open that whole can of worms.”

It was silent for a few minutes before Tony spoke again, “So who is your mom?” He asks curiously.

Morgan opens her mouth to answer but Peter shakes his head. “No.” He says firmly and he watches the girl deflate and look away.

Chapter Text

It wasn’t until a few hours later that they finally got to hear what the time travelers had to say. Older Peter had insisted that his younger self be immediately driven home by Happy after they landed, citing that he was far too young and didn’t need to be involved.

This caused young Pete to let out a disappointed groan and a half-asleep Morgan to snort out a laugh and roll her eyes. “You’re such a dad.” The girl muttered under her breath, elbowing her brother.

”Not yet.” He’d muttered back. And wasn’t that just curious.

He had also had a few whispered words with the mostly silent Black Panther that had the man returning to Wakanda with a polite nod in the Avengers direction.

By the time all of the team, give or take a few, made it safely to the Avengers Tower Tony could barely wait to hear their story.

He had spent most of the jet ride staring numbly at his daughter, who had promptly fallen asleep leaning heavily on her brother who grumbled but didn’t move the girl from her (frankly uncomfortable looking) position tucked into his side.

Peter himself had spend most of the ride avoiding everyone’s eyes and questions, with the exception of his younger self whose rambles he listened to indulgently, a sad smile on his face.

They had all settled into a conference room on the Avengers floor when Tony cleared his throat impatiently. “So?” He finally prompted. “How exactly did you two get here?”

“Like I said, we were fighting a sorcerer and he hit us with a spell-” he paused sending a look at Morgan “well it was going to hit Moe and I jumped in front of her. But either way, that’s how we’re both here. Now we just have to wait for our wizard to come and get us.”

“Hopefully before Mom finds out.” Morgan adds unhelpfully.

Peter groans, pressing a hand to his face but doesn’t say anything else.

“Did you just say your wizard? You have a wizard.” Wilson spoke up for the first time, sounding incredulous.

“Yes, we do. He’s a prick but he won’t leave us stranded in another universe… I think.” Peter said, smiling awkwardly.

“Even if he would, America would never.” Morgan said soothingly. Peter shot her a look of disbelief that had Morgan amending her words. “Okay, Miss A would never leave me stranded in another universe.”

Peter huffed amusedly, “You’re right about that.”

“Why are you still wearing your suit? I mean yours can do the same thing hers can, right?” Steve asked, indicating Morgan, and staring at Spider-Man with his head tilted in confusion.

Peter frowned and looked down at himself. “Oh. I forgot.” He said, tapping his wrist. Tony watched with wide curious eyes as the suit practically melted off of his body, nanobots gliding down his arm and settling into two bracelets and a fancy looking watch. His eyes widened further as he took in the very expensive suit the man was wearing under the armour. The Armani suit was easily ten thousand dollars and more seeing as it looked professionally tailored.

Morgan whistled. “Who dressed you this morning?” She joked, smiling cheekily. She smoothed down his collar and tie affectionately as they sat.

Peter rolled his eyes, picking at his sleeves. “I was in a meeting.” He said simply, avoiding everyone’s gaze.

Morgan’s mouth dropped open and a laugh burst from her chest. “You left for a fight in the middle of a meeting?” She asked incredulously. “Harls is going to kill you, Pete.”

Peter’s brows furrowed and he crossed his arms defensively. “Well you left in the middle of school. Mom’s going to kill you. Plus if Keener wanted a CEO who doesn’t miss meetings, he shouldn’t have picked me. Look at my track record.”

“Harley didn’t pick you to be CEO bubba, that was definitely Mom.” Morgan giggled. “And Dad.” She finished under her breath.

“Well then maybe Mom will kill both of us.” Peter stated dryly, seeming to ignore the last part of her sentence.

“Harley-“ Tony echoed under his breath and Peter looked amused.

“Yes.” He said simply and Tony nodded.

“Cass is going to be pissed, you know.” Morgan said, snickering at the look of dawning horror on his face.

“Swear jar!” He snapped. “Moving on.” Peter said, ignoring his sister’s gleeful declaration. “Just in case anyone is confused, I’m Spider-Man and this is Morgan, we are from the future. The year 2035 to be specific. We were accidentally sent to the middle of your little fight. Now, we’re gonna help for get over this because trust me, you’ve got bigger problems than the Sokovia Accords or even Hydra.”

“First we should start with the Accords though. That’s still important.” Morgan said, frowning at the assembled group and narrowing her eyes as she stared at them.

For the first time since they entered the room Tony took in the seating arrangement.

Steve was sitting directly across from Tony on one side of the table, Wilson and Barnes bracketing him on either side. Next to Wilson was a little guy Tony vaguely recognized and on Bucky’s other side was Clint, Wanda pressed into his side, eyeing Tony with disdain shining in her green eyes.

Vision was floating a few feet opposite the witch. On either side of Tony sat Rhodey and Natasha, Morgan and Peter choosing to sit at the end of the table, closest to Rhodey and… Lang? Was that the little guys name? Eh.

It was split purposefully, and it made something in Tony’s stomach squirm uncomfortably.

Well.” Peter says, clearing his throat. “There are a few things you don’t know Morgan.” He said gently. “This fight isn’t really about the accords-“

“What?!” Sam asks incredulously.

“Yes it is.” Steve says firmly, eyebrows furrowed.

“Yeah, now you’ve lost me.” Tony adds, shaking his head.

“It’s about Sergeant Barnes.” Peter says decisively, nodding towards the soldier. “And the lack of trust within this team.” He added, gesturing to the rest of them.

Steve’s mouth dropped open. “It’s- that’s not what-“

“From the future.” Peter interrupted, raising his brows and pointing to himself. He slumped, running a hand through his curly brown hair.

“It’s definitely not about Bucky. What are you talking about, man?” Wilson said, shaking his head and looking at Peter warily.

“Really?” Peter challenged, eyes knowing.

“Really.” Wilson confirmed stubbornly.

“What are the Sokovia Accords?” Peter asks simply, raising a questioning brow.

“They’re- they a way for the government to control the Avengers!” Steve sputtered out.

Peter narrowed his eyes at the blue eyed man, “I was asking Mr. Wilson.”

“Well he’s right, isn’t he?” Clint retorted, shaking his head.

Peter scoffed, shaking his head. “How many of you have actually read the Accords?” At the blank stares from Steve and his little rogues Peter scoffed again. “How about the part where it says that it’s open to amendments?”

Tony nodded when eyes shot to him in question.

“And what part of the UN screams government control?” Peter swiftly continued. “I’m not disagreeing that a lot of changes have to be made to the accords, that were made in our future.” He said, gesturing to himself and Morgan, who was smirking at them as her brother spoke. “Most of the people in this room have signed it, actually. But the UN is an international organization that contain 193 countries. Not all of which care very much about controlling the Avengers.

“But Ross-“ Steve started but Peter cut him off with a single look. Hm. Impressive.

“No. I’m the one talking now. Not all of you have the excuse of being trapped in ice for seventy years, you should know better than to go against the United Nations. You were an hour away from becoming national terrorists before we showed up, so, you’re welcome. No, actually, don’t thank me, thank Moe. If it were up to me, I wouldn’t have to deal with all of this bullshit all over again. Anyway , first of all, Thaddeus Ross did not create the accords. They’ve been in the works for much longer than most of you realize.” He said a look at Tony that said ‘how do you put up with this?’ before continuing, “Probably even longer than the Avengers have been an actual team. You do realize you aren’t the only enhanced people in the world, right? Or even heroes? Sokovia just expedited the process, and what happened in Lagos didn’t help, the people aren’t very happy right now. Ross only has his fingers in this because he’s hoping to manipulate it. Which obviously won’t work.”

Peter rolled his eyes when all he got were blank looks at his last statement. “Ross won’t be a problem for you much longer. Which you would all know if you ever listened to the only one with an actual functioning brain in this group.” He said, tilting his head toward Tony.

Tony straightened in his seat, forcing his face to go blank. “What are you talking about?”

“Please.” Peter rolled his eyes. “Don’t act like you’re not gathering evidence as we speak, or rather FRIDAY is.”

“What?! What does that mean?” Steve yelled. “Tony is working with Ross!”

“So he can gather enough information to get him arrested, dipshit.” Peter deadpanned, shaking his head.

Tony stifled an ill timed laugh when Morgan opened her mouth, presumably to remind her brother of the ‘swear jar’ they both kept mentioning, before promptly snapping her mouth shut with a shrug. Seeing his reaction, his daughter sent him a mischievous smirk.

Steve got a wounded look on his face and looked at Tony. “Why- why wouldn’t you tell us? We could have helped if you had told us! We’re a team! We can’t have secrets like-“

“Okay. No. Absolutely fucking not.” Peter snapped suddenly, seething as he shot up from his seat and braced his hands on the table. He shook his head, “That is something that you are not going to be doing. Fuck no. Not when you’re keeping such an enormous secret, yourself. Hm?”

“Underoos?” Tony called questioning, eyes darting to Morgan’s face at her grimace.

“You want to tell him or will I?” Peter said, head tilted eerily as he stared the Captain down.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Steve said, face blanching tellingly.

“Steve?” Nat murmured, her face contorting with barely veiled confusion.

“Yes you do, Captain.” Peter retorted. “And he’ll be finding out one way or another, I’m just giving you a chance to confess.”

Steve’s eyes darted around the room nervously lingering on himself, Barnes, and Nat before settling back on Peter. Unease was practically radiating from him and Tony decided he’d had enough of the nonspeak. “I don’t-“

“Okay, what is going on?” Tony interrupted, hands curling into fists at his sides. “This obviously has something to do with me. So?”

Peter’s hard eyes turned to look at him, worried. “We don’t have to do this right now. It’s- it’s not going to be easy to hear. I can tell you later in private.”

Tony scoffed under his breath, eyes finding Steve’s again. He stared for a few seconds at fearful blue eyes before looking back at the Spider.

“Tell me.” He said firmly.

Peter cleared his throat nervously, “Okay.” He closed his eyes and took a few deep breaths before opening them again. “Okay,” He repeated “your parent’s car accident, it wasn’t exactly… an accident.” He said haltingly, shooting a look at Roger’s when he made a noise of shock.

“What- what?” Tony sputtered, mouth falling open in shock. He felt Rhodey grab his hand comfortingly but Tony was numb.

“It was a hit.” Peter continued. “Your father had been working on recreating the serum that they used on Roger’s over there. Hydra-“ At this his eyes darted towards Barnes minutely, but it was enough. Tony’s body went cold with dawning horror as he listened to the words. “-found out about it and they sent a- an assassin to retrieve it. To leave no witnesses.”

“What does this have to do with-“ Wanda started before being cut off by Steve sending her a look. The girls mouth snapped shut with a click.

“When S.H.I.E.L.D fell, and Ms. Romanoff and Captain Rogers dropped all of that information on the web, they came across something else too. A video.”

“A video.” Tony repeated, eyes dropping to Romanoff at his side. Her face had gone blank but her eyes were glued to the time travelers face.

“Of the night of December 16, 1991” Peter adds, wincing. “It showed- it showed the Winter Soldier killing Howard and- and Maria Stark.”

Tony couldn’t breathe. His lungs wouldn’t take in any air and his eyes were stuck on Steve- no Rogers’ face and it was… guilty.

“Steve-“ He heard Clint’s shocked (betrayed?) voice say vaguely.

“You- you knew about this? You knew about this for two years and you didn’t tell me?” Tony asks, his heart breaking in his chest.

“It wasn’t Bucky!” Steve protests stubbornly.

“Steve!” Wilson gasps, appalled.

“And you-“ He turned to Natasha and there it was. Guilty. Guilty. Guilty. “You knew too?”

“I did.” Romanoff confirms, face carefully neutral, holding Tony’s eyes. “But Tony, I thought he told you. He told me he would tell you. He promised he would.” Her neutral facade breaks slightly at the end of her sentence, eyes darting to Steve’s guilt ridden face.

Tony can’t help the bitter laugh that bursts from his chest as he turned away from the spy to look at the soldier. “And what you just thought I didn’t deserve to know about my parents- my parents murder?!”

“Tones.” Rhodey says sadly.

“It wasn’t Bucky!” Rogers protested again. “He didn’t-“

“Do you see me blaming your precious Bucky?! No, I’m blaming you! You lied to me! How could you call yourself my friend, my teammate while looking me in the eye and not tell me this?!” Tony snaps. “You think I don’t know what they do to POW’s in Hydra?! I’ve seen all of the files on the Winter Soldier too but-“ Another harsh laugh “I don’t even know why I’m surprised. Is that why you went off on your own? Didn’t involve me unless it was for my money?! To protect him? From me?” Tony asks, nodding to the blank eyed soldier at the Captains side. “That’s it, isn’t it?” Tony asks, looking to Peter for confirmation.

Peter winced. “While I don’t pretend to know or understand the thought process behind Captain Rogers’ actions, it was my understanding that he didn’t support the accords specifically because it would mean accountability. Including accountability for the Winter Solder over there, who had killed hundreds of people while brainwashed, including your parents.” He summarized. “No offence, James.” He added.

”Fuck.” Barton and Wilson muttered under their breath, staring at Captain America as though he were a stranger.

“That can’t be true?! Can it?! Right?!” Lang started hysterically. “I broke my probation for this! I- I left my daughter. Oh God, I’m going to prison, aren’t I? Again?!”

“Sorry Scott.” Peter said, grimacing faintly at the man. Scott apparently.

The guys head snapped up at being acknowledged. “You know me?” He asked incredulously.

“Yes well, I was involved in this whole fight, if you remember.” Peter answered stiffly, attempting a smile.

“And you’re his father in law!” Morgan added, smiling brightly enough to make up for her brother’s half assed one.

“Morgan Stark!” Peter hissed, flicking the girl on the forehead. “He did not need to know that!”

“Y-your father in law.” The man stuttered, eyes wide. “That means you’re married t-to-“

“Cassie!” Morgan chirped up again, twirling a strand of brunette hair around her fingers. “She’s awesome!”

“But she’s- she’s-“ Scott sputtered, face growing red, “eight years old!”

“Oh. Yeah. I forgot about that.” Morgan winced, hiding a laugh behind her hand.

Peter grimaced and shook his head, “Yeah, I did not. See Morgan, this is why we don’t just drop random pieces of information without context.” He held his hands up, looking a little green. “Something happened in the future. Something that caused half of life in the universe to disappear for five years. I disappeared and she didn’t so when I got back she was only two years younger than me and even then we didn’t even meet until we were both in college. So it wasn’t anything weird! I swear! I’m not some kind of creep or-“

“Jesus.” Tony huffs a small laugh despite the thoughts running through his mind.

Steve ‘Sometimes my teammates don’t tell me things’ Rogers keeping the biggest secret of all. Betrayal burned in his gut but he hid it behind a smirk. He didn’t want to think about this anymore.

“Cool it, Underoos!” He continued, amused that even twenty years later (nineteen, his mind corrected) Peter still rambled when he was nervous.

Lang looked a combination of angry, confused, and shocked as he stared at his supposed future son in law.

Peter looks sheepish, “Right, thanks, Mr. Stark.”

“Anyone else want the little dude to explain what exactly he means by ‘half of the life in the universe disappeared for five years’ or is that just me?” Sam whispers loudly.

”Little dude.”’ Morgan echoed, snickering.

“I’d rather table that for now and get back to the conversation at hand.” Peter says decisively, ignoring his sister. “Trust that we’ll get back to that soon. In my timeline, no genius all-knowing time travelers interrupted the airport battle in what came to be known by the media as the Avengers Civil War and it ended with all of ‘team Cap’ with the exception of the Captain himself and Mr. Barnes getting sent to the Raft.”

Tony couldn’t help his small smile despite the current conversation. ‘Genius all-knowing time travelers’. Huh.

“What is the Raft?” Wanda asked, saying the word with distaste regardless of her lack of knowledge on the subject.

“A super secret prison in the middle of the ocean for enhanced people.” Rhodey answered, disgust lacing his tone. “They really sent them there?”

“Ross did.” Peter answered, before nodding to Barnes and Rogers, “And then those two made their way to Siberia in search for the other Winter Soldiers. Mr. Stark followed after them but the Soldiers were dead when they got to the bunker. A man named Helmut Zemo, the man who is responsible for framing Mr. Barnes for the murder of King T’Chaka, had set a trap, and the three of you all walked right into it. It was there that Mr. Stark found out about his parents, by watching a video of it.”

Tony scoffed, “Of course.”

“There was a fight.” Peter cleared his throat uncomfortably. “Afterwards, Mr. Barnes and Captain Rogers aided by King T’Challa, escaped from the bunker in Siberia and after rescuing the others from the raft, they all took refuge in Wakanda. Ms. Romanoff joined them a few weeks later, or so I’m told.”

“Wait, Nat? Why, she’s on Starks side, isn’t she?” Clint asked, sharing a glance with Natashalie.

Peter grimaced and nodded. “She was, but she helped Mr. Barnes and Captain Rogers escape from the airport, switching sides at the last minute. She went against the accords after signing them which is a big no no, soooo…” Peter trailed off awkwardly, avoiding Tony’s eyes.

Tony almost wanted to laugh. This was just classic.

“You said Barnes and Roger’s got out of Siberia, what about Tones?” Rhodey piped up, arms crossed.

Peter flinched slightly at the question and Tony noticed Morgan leaning more firmly into his side. Color him curious. He raised a questioning brow when Peter darted a look his way.

“His suit had been disabled and it took FRIDAY a few hours to get into contact with Vision. By the time Vision and I found him he’d been lying in a dead suit in the freezing cold for close to 20 hours. It was- it was bad.” Peter said, his words careful. “It took a few surgeries, Dr. Cho’s cradle, some Extremis, and a new arc reactor but he was back up and running in a few months.”

Tony’s hand flew automatically to where his reactor used to sit in his chest. “It was that bad?” He asked, eyes darting to Rogers.

Peter smiled tensely. “Worse than I care to remember.”

“I wouldn’t- I would never-“ Steve sputtered, blue eyes wide.

“What? Betray him? Attack him?” Peter spat suddenly, eyes flaming. “Even for your little friend over there? Even if you thought you were saving his life?”

“I-“ Steve stammered, face reddening.

“Already did.” Tony finished. “You may not have beat me half to death but make no mistake that you’ve fucked me over. Big time.”

“I’m- I’m sorry Tony.” Steve said sadly, pleadingly.

“Not necessary.” Tony replied shortly, not meeting the other man’s eyes. “Can we move on now?” He asked, directing his attention back towards Peter.

“Yes. So the Accords, Mr. Stark spent the next year working with the UN, King T’Challa, and a handful of other enhanced people to get some of the clauses amended while adding others. It took a lot of time and effort but, they got them to a point where they were accepted by the public as well as the people the document was targeting. A majority of people with enhancements felt safe signing but it would have been a much easier process if the Avengers had presented a united front. Change would be much smoother than it was the first time around.” Peter looked around the table and gave them a sad looking smile. “Look you guys, I know I’m dropping a lot of information on you guys, stuff that could tear the team apart, but you guys need to stick together. The world will need the Avengers sooner than you think and one of the reasons that we lost that fight in my timeline is because the Avengers were no longer a team.” Peter said, seriousness in every line of his body.

“You’ve hinted at that a few times, something big. What is coming?” Natashalie said, eyeing the man speculatively.

Peter took a deep breath before speaking. “Not what. Who. His name is Thanos.” He answered finally, his voice almost a whisper.

Chapter Text

Tony sucked in a sharp breath as the name registered in his mind. Even though it was the first time he’d ever heard it, he was immediately struck with a sense of terror. His vision went blurry and his heart started pounding. Suddenly he couldn’t breathe. His mind was awash with images that had haunted his nightmares since the New York Invasion.

He clenched his eyes shut and sucked in another breath through his nostrils, eyes brows scrunching in concentration as he tried to burn the images from his brain.

“-ony! Tones! Breathe, man. Come on, you can do it. In and out.” Rhodey’s voice suddenly filtered through and Tony’s eyes snapped open to look at his best friend.

Rhodey’s eyes were worried but his face was calm as he took deep breaths, grabbing Tony’s hand and resting it on his chest to help him through his panic.

“I’m okay.” Tony choked out. “I’m- I’m okay.”

“You sure, Tones?” Rhodey checked, looking his oldest friend up and down as though searching for some physical injury.

“Yes.” Tony answered, sitting up and catching both of his kids eyes. They were both pushed halfway out of their seats, identical looks of worry and panic on their faces.

Peter wiped the look from his face as Tony caught his eye, though he did smile sympathetically as he sat back down. Morgan, however, was staring at Tony, brown eyes wide and face white as a sheet until Peter gently guided the girl back to her chair.

“Who the hell is Thanos?” Rhodey asked, looking up at Peter and clasping Tony’s hand in his own.

“He’s an alien. From a planet called Titan.” Peter started, his tone slightly mechanical sounding.

“Aliens. Of course. Why does it always have to be aliens?” Barton spat.

”Not always! Sometimes it’s murder bots!” Maximoff added unhelpfully, sending Tony a nasty look.

“He’s actually the one that sent the Chitari through the portal to New York in 2012.” Peter replied, a thoughtful frown on his face.

“That was Loki!” Steve retorted, crossing his arms.

“Ohhhh, yeah, I forgot about that. Yeah, actually he was being mind controlled by Thanos. He’s innocent.” Peter tilted his head before amending his answer. “Well I mean, he is still the trickster god. So more like, he is somewhat innocent. At least for the whole invasion thing. And the mind control thing. Mind control actually isn’t even one of Loki’s powers, that was all the scepter.” He said, sending an apologetic glance to Clint.

“Anyway, the New York invasion, that was Thanos’ way of testing Earth’s defenses, so to say. And let’s just say that we caught his attention when Tony decimated half of his forces with that nuke.”

“Wonderful.” Tony muttered under his breath. He noticed his daughter grimacing at her brother’s words and he felt a shiver run through his body.

“See, Thanos is on some kind of moral mission to ‘balance the universe’. Apparently the people of his planet died out due to lack of resources. He wants to stop that from happening to anyone else. Sounds pretty nice right? Reasonable even. Except that obviously,  the only way to do this is to systematically eliminate half of the universes population, planet by planet. But he’s not satisfied with his current progress so he’s searching for something or multiple something’s to, shall I say, speed up the process.” Peter said, watching the group for their reactions and smiling grimly at the gasps and looks of disgust. “Yeah, it’s awful, I know.” He said, nodding.

“What is he looking for, exactly?” The Captain asked.

“The Infinity Stones.” Peter answered simply.

“The what?” Tony asked, squinting at the man in confusion.

Peter lifted his wrist, tapping the face of his watch. “Karen, you with me, girl?” He asked, seemingly to no one.

Tony startled slightly when an unfamiliar robotic voice answered, “I am always here Peter. How may I assist you?” The female voice, apparently named Karen, asked in a crisp American accent.

As she spoke, a bright light projected from the face of the watch. A woman appeared dressed in a sharp red pantsuit. She looked as if she was in her early twenties. Her dirty blonde curls fell over her shoulders neatly and her blue eyes were bright as she rolled them and smiled cheekily at her… creator? Friend? Boss? Ward? Tony wasn’t sure.

Honestly, if didn’t know better he would think she was a real life human person and not a holographic representation of an Artificial Intelligence.

“‘Sup Karen!” Morgan greeted in a chirpy tone, eyes crinkling as she looked towards the holographic woman.

“Hello Miss Morgan. How are you today?” Karen responded, clasping her hands and smiling indulgently at the teen.

“I’m good, K! How about you, big sis? You’re looking rather sexy! Love the suit!” Morgan answered, smiling brightly in return.

“I’m doing quite well, thank you for asking. You look very pretty today as well.” Karen said with an amused lilt to her voice, and was she blushing? Tony didn’t know AI’s could do that.

“Why thank you, darlin’!” Morgan responded in a terrible impression of a country accent, tipping an imaginary hat towards the hologram.

“Morgan, stop calling Karen sexy!” Peter says, pinching the bridge of his nose. He turned to look at Karen who had a hand on her hip and was staring at him through narrowed eyes. He attempted a smile that seemed more like a grimace. “Although you do look lovely, red is definitely your color!” He placated before moving back to the topic at hand. “Anyway, can you pull up a hologram of the stones, pretty please?” Peter asked, huffing a small sigh.

“Only because you asked so nicely, Peter.” Karen said sassily and suddenly another light came from the watch and a projection floated in the middle of the table in front of them.

“Thanks Miss K.” He said warmly.

“No problem, Boss Man.” She responded, waving before her holographic body disappeared.

“Who was that?” Steve asked guardedly, eyes narrowed distrustfully at where the hologram was a few seconds prior.

“Oh!” Peter said, smacking his forehead. “How rude of me. That was Karen, my AI. Mr. Stark made her for me.”

“That was an AI?” Wilson asked, brows raised.

“I made her?” Tony asked at the same time.

“Yup!” Peter said, popping the ‘p’. “To both of those. She’s a gem.” He then tilted his head at Tony, “I mean, I created the hologram and Karen chose her own appearance but, yeah, the base code was all you.”

Tony’s brain started moving a mile a minute as he thought about the science behind it but he quickly shook the thoughts away, vowing to revisit it later.

So cool!” Lang breathed, earning a smile from Peter.

When the rest of the assembled super heroes simply stared at him he quickly moved on.

“Anyways, the stones.” Peter gestured a dramatic hand to the floating hologram in front of them, “At the dawn of the universe there was nothing. And then, boom! The big bang sent six elemental crystals hurling across the virgin universe. These Infinity Stones each control an essential aspect of existence. Space.” He said pinching the blue stone between his fingers, “Reality.” the red one, “Power.” the purple one, “Soul.” the orange one, “Time.” the green one, “And Mind.” the hologram disappeared, leaving Peter gesturing to the yellow crystal sitting on Visions forehead.

The room was tense and silent as they all absorbed that bit of information before Morgan burst into giggles. “I- I can’t believe you just- you just quoted Wong !”

Peter scowled but his lips kept twitching. “What?! I’ve always wanted to give that speech! It’s relevant!”

“I’m so telling everyone you did when we get back, Strange going to die!” Morgan continued to laugh.

“Not important.” Peter said. “The point is, Thanos is looking for these stones and if he gets all of them he can kill half of the universe with a snap of his fingers. He did kill the universe with the snap of his fingers. But you have time to prepare, to collect the stones before him and destroy them. And lucky for you guys, I know where most of them are.”

Tony watched both of their guests faces, the sorrow hiding under the surface and his chest ached.

“How much time?” Tony asked, already feeling weary and bone-tired.

Peter gave a small shrug. “Two years, give or take? But you’re gonna need some help.”

Rogers brows furrowed. “Help? Help from whom?” He asked, doubt lacing his tone.

“A lot of people.” Peter shrugged again. “Some you know, most you don’t. First of all, when’s the last time any of you heard from Thor or Doctor Banner?”

“Jolly Green took off after the whole fiasco with Ultron.” Tony answered, shaking his head. “And Point Break is off god only knows where. Pun intended.” He smirked and then waved a hand. “But I can have FRIDAY start looking for any trace of them, hear that babygirl?”

“On it, Boss.” FRIDAY’s voice echoed throughout the room.

Peter blew out a breath and pursed his lips but nodded. “Any of you know a way to get in contact with Fury?”

Rushmanoff cleared her throat, “I do.” She inserted with a nod.

“Good.” Peter said. “He’ll be able to get you guys into contact with someone named Carol Danvers, she’s this really cool half-alien chick. She got her powers from the Space Stone. She’ll be able to find another group of aliens who call themselves the Guardians of the Galaxy, they’ll be really useful even though you probably won’t think so.”

“Woah woah woah, did you just say Carol Danvers?” Rhodey asked breathlessly.

Peter nodded, looking slightly confused. “Yeah, why? Do you know her?”

“Yeah, we were in the Air Force together. She went missing in action in 1996. I thought she was dead.” Rhodey answered, frowning.

“Ah.” Peter said, grimacing. “Well, she’s very much alive. And she is pretty well known within our universe so she can probably help you guys get into contact with Thor, Loki, and The Guardians.” He paused thoughtfully and then snapped a finger. “Oh! And Doctor Banner!”

“Bruce?” Natashalie questioned, one ginger brow raised.

“Oh yeah, so I never got the full story exactly but he’s in space right now. The Hulk kind of took over after Ultron and he ended stranded on this planet called Sakkar, fighting in a stadium like some sort of Gladiator until Thor uh- liberated him.” Peter said nonchalantly. Morgan muffling a snicker into her hand at the shocked looks exchanged around the table.

“That’s-“ Rogers cut off, looking pale.

“Crazy.” Tony finished, eyes wide.

“Yes, well…” Peter shrugged, picking lint off his shoulder and avoiding everyone’s eyes.

“Who are these Guardians of the Galaxy you have mentioned?” Vision asked softly from where he was floating.

“I guess you could say they’re a bunch of space pirates?” Peter answered questioningly before quickly clarifying. “They have questionable morals but you’re going to need them. Especially since two of them are Thanos’ daughters.”

“That crazy bastard has kids?” Wilson asked, shaking his head.

Peter frowned, tilting his head in thought. “If you consider killing half of the people on their home planet and then kidnapping them as kids and raising them to be child soldiers being their father, then yes.”

Lang raised his hand tentatively. “I don’t-” He cleared his throat awkwardly when everyone turned to look at him, “I don’t think that counts.”

“Either way.” Peter shrugged. “He considers Nebula and Gamora to be his children, and as much as they might hate his guts, he’s still their father.”

“Who else is on this team?” Rogers questioned.

“Well first theres Peter Quill, calls himself Star Lord. He’s their leader, half-human, half-celestial. Mantis, she’s like an empath and she has these really freaky antennae. Next is Drax the Destroyer, I honestly don’t know much about him other than that he’s super strong and he hates Thanos for killing his wife and child. Then there’s Rocket, he’s- well…” Peter scrunched his nose. “this is going to sound crazy but he’s a talking raccoon, scarily intelligent, like I’m talking nearly on Mr. Starks level when it comes to tech.” He smiled at the sounds of disbelief before sharing a smirk with Morgan. “And if you think that’s crazy, just wait. The last member of this rag-tag group of cosmic criminals is a talking tree named Groot. Yes, a literal tree that talks. Though, he does only say three words. They might be able to help find Thor and Doctor Banner too, hopefully before Asgard is destroyed.”

“What the fuck.” Tony whispered under his breath, shaking his head. He shared a wide eyed look with Rhodey for a few moments. He would worry he was hearing things but when he saw the identical incredulous faces of his teammates he figured he’d probably heard the man correctly.

“You’ll also want to smooth things over with King T’Challa. You’ll need his help, and his sisters. Not to mention Wakanda’s resources.” Peter added thoughtfully. “Probably this timelines Doctor Strange too, though I don’t know if he has powered up yet.” He turns to Morgan. “Do you think The Defenders would be worth contacting?” He asked quietly but everyone heard.

Morgan perked up at being asked for an opinion and tilted her head in thought. “They’d help if they knew the stakes. And DD would be able to help with the Accords mess and Jamie-boy.”

Peter hummed. “True.” He nodded, turning back to the group. “I’ll have Karen compile a more comprehensive file of all of the potential players you’ll need for the fight and have her send it to FRIDAY.”

Tony noticed the watch on Peter’s beep in confirmation and smiled slightly. “And the Infinity Stones?” He can’t help but question.

“I’ll add a file about those too. Locations, time frames, the works.” Peter said happily before deflating slightly. “Most of you have actually come into contact with one or two before.”

“We have? Besides the Mind Stone, I mean.” Tony asked, frowning in thought.

“The Space Stone, otherwise known as the Tesseract.” Peter answered, smirking at the gasps and curses that rang from the original members of the Avengers.

“But it’s safe on Asgard, isn’t it?” Steve asked.

“For now.” Peter confirmed with a nod.

Before anyone could say anything else or ask anymore questioned Tony stood, clearing his throat. “We should all take a little break, shower, change clothes. I have a few calls to make and we can meet back up once everyone has cleaned up for dinner. I’ll have FRIDAY get your orders.”

His mind wandered to how he was going to deal with Ross and explain this whole mess to the rest of the Accords Council. Maybe he could ask Peter for his opinion.

Protests rose up but Rogers nodded in agreement, standing as well. “Tony is right, it’s been a long day already, and it’s not over yet.” He said, smiling as though he had done Tony some kind of favor.

“Seems like we’ll be here a while, anyway.” Peter added.

Grumbles were heard as everyone stood and exited the room, leaving Tony, Rhodey, Peter, and Morgan standing somewhat awkwardly in the empty conference room.

“Right.” Tony started to say before he was interrupted.

Peter looked up, eyes bright and guilty. “I’m sorry for dropping that on you in front of everyone. I was going to tell you later, privately. But I just couldn’t listen to Rogers spit his hypocritical bullshit.”

Tony smiled faintly. “It’s alright, kid.”

Peter huffed. “Not really a kid anymore.”

Tony mock gasped, “Oh, that’s right, how could I forget? You’re a whole grown adult, married and everything. And don’t think I didn’t hear something about you being CEO! What’s that about, hm?” He raised a brow.

Peter blushed but nodded. “Yeah, I’ve been CEO of SI for about five years now. And Harley is my head of R&D.” He added, smiling fondly.

“Peter became CEO after he graduated from MIT and mom finally retired .” Morgan said, wrinkling her nose.

Peter rolled his eyes. “Please, Mom will never really retire.” He said with a small scoff.

“Wait.” Tony said, shaking his head. “Are you saying that Pep-“

“Is our mom? Yup!” Morgan answered, popping the ‘p’ and grinning at her father. Grinning at her father with Pepper’s smile, how he didn’t see it before is beyond him.

“Damn, Tones.” Rhodey says, patting Tony on the back.

“Is there any point in trying to stop you from telling everyone everything at this point? I was really hoping we could just stick to the important bits.” Peter asked tiredly, looking at his younger sister.

“Nope.” She said, popping the ‘p’ again.

“Can you at least keep me out of it?” Peter pleads but shakes his head at the look he receives. “Who do I even try?” He mumbled, looking heavenward. He turned back to his sister and pointed a stern finger towards her. “You’re explaining everything to Strange when he gets here.”

“Ugh!” Morgan groaned, leaning Peter’s side dramatically. “Fine, I’ll deal with Doctor Grumpy Pants.”

“You’ve mentioned him a few times, Doctor Strange? Who is he?” Rhodey asked, leaning back in his seat.

“He’s somewhat of a part-time member of the Avengers. And a sorcerer. He’s a cool guy.” Peter answered, running his hand through his hair tiredly.

“Part-time member, is that a normal thing in your time?” Tony asked, quirking a brow.

“Oh yeah!” Morgan nodded emphatically. “There are actually more part-time members than actual members. And then the Junior Avengers, of course.” She says the last part proudly.

“Junior Avengers?” Tony questioned indulgently.

“Yeah! Well…” She frowned thoughtfully. “It’s really only me, Miles, Lila, Abbie, Billy, and Tommy.”

“Morgan, no names!” Peter hissed, shaking his head.

“Peter! It’s not like they know them anyways!” Morgan hissed back, tone slightly mocking.

“Who are Miles, Abbie, Billy, Tommy, and Lila?” Rhodey asked curiously.

“Welllll…” She looks to Peter with big brown puppy dog eyes and smiles victoriously when he shrugs back. “Miles is Spider-Man junior and Abbie is Harley’s little sister, she’s training with an armored suit, kinda like mine but black and blue.”

“Spider-Man junior, huh? I thought your powers were a one time thing.” Tony mused thoughtfully, looking at Peter.

The man shrugged again sheepishly, “Yeah well, I thought so too. Then he showed up, soo…”

“He’s really cool!” Morgan gushed. “He can turn invisible and has electricity powers! Petey can’t do that.”

Peter rolled his eyes. “Yes, I get it, his powers are cooler than mine. You don’t have to remind me every five seconds.” He says jokingly. “Anyway, Lila is Barton’s daughter, she’s training with a bow and arrow. Billy and Tommy are Wanda’s boys. There are eight full-time members of the Avengers, including myself. Twenty something ‘part-time’ members, I stopped counting after a while. And then our six babies, of course!” He said the last part ruffling Morgan’s hair affectionately.

“Wow, that’s quite the team.” Rhodey said, brows raised, impressed.

“We do alright.” Peter replied modestly, rubbing the back of his neck.

“Yup! And most of the main team are women! It’s totally awesome!” Morgan bragged, grinning at Peter teasingly.

“Yes. Yes. Girl power and all of that.” Peter said, rolling his eyes. “We should also take a break Morgs, shower and change, if you don’t mind?” He directed the last bit to Tony.

Tony nodded, “Yeah I can show you to where you’ll be staying while you’re here.” He smiled at them as they exited the room and made their way to the elevator. “I have you guys on my floor, if that’s okay?”

He noticed Peter nod out of the corner of his eye and Morgan slump in obvious relief.

”Yes. Thank you.” Peter said awkwardly after a few seconds.

He decided not to comment. “Fri, to the penthouse, please?” He said instead.

“Of course, Boss.” FRIDAY replied warmly in her robotic voice as the elevator started moving up.

“Thanks, Babygirl.” Tony said fondly, smiling up at one of the cameras.

“Hey Friday!” Morgan greeted, bouncing on the balls of her feet.

“Hello Miss Stark. It is nice to meet you.” FRIDAY responded kindly.

“You too!” Morgan said, beaming at her brother who was chuckling fondly.

Tony’s heart squeezed as he watched them. His kids. Jesus, he needed a drink.

Chapter Text

Tony slumped down with a tired sigh as he sat, resting his arms on the kitchen counter as the bedroom door clicked shut behind the two time travellers.

The previous conversation ran through his mind as he sat but his thoughts were interrupted as Rhodey sat next to him with a huff.

Rhodey made a sympathetic sound that had Tony raising his gaze to look at his bestfriend who was watching him in concern. “You okay, Tones?”

Letting out a scoff, Tony shook his head. His mind caught on his parents. Steve. No, not Steve. He was just Rogers now. “I don’t even know why I’m surprised.”

Rhodey grimaced. “Because he was your friend.”

Tony scoffed again, “Was he? Was he really?”

Rhodey sighed, eyes sad. “I don’t know.” He answered honestly.

“FRIDAY, did you get everyone’s orders?” Tony said instead of continuing that line of conversation. He would think about all of that when he was alone. In his lab.

“Yes, Boss. And Karen has told me Miss Stark and Mister Parker-Stark’s preferences.” FRIDAY answered, voice ringing from the ceiling.

Tony held in a slight flinch at the names. His children’s names but nodded. “Go ahead and order everything, have it brought to the communal floor.”

“On it, Boss.”

“Are you sure you want to go down there, Tones?” Rhodey asked softly.

Tony shrugged in a blasé manner but didn’t respond. He quickly excused himself to deal with Ross, at least momentarily.

It was around fifteen minutes before Morgan and Peter made their way towards where they were sitting in the kitchen, hair wet.

His daughter skipped forward while her brother followed  at a more sedate pace, an amused smile on his face. They were wearing the same clothing but Peter had lost the jacket and tie and looked much more at ease than he had before.

“Are you okay, Mr. Stark?” Peter asked, eyes finding his as Morgan plopped down onto the counter, legs swinging back and forth.

“Yes.” He answered shortly, and he couldn’t help but notice the small flash of hurt in Peter’s eyes at his terse answer.

It was gone just as fast as it appeared and the boy- the man sent him a small forced smile and nodded as he sat in the stool a few seats away from Tony.

The silence was slowly becoming awkward when Rhodey cut in, clearing his throat. “So, Morgan, you’re in highschool right?”

“Yup.” The girl answered, seemingly not noticing the tension as she surveyed the room with a critical eye. “I’m a Junior at Midtown.”

“Midtown, huh?” Tony asked, eyes darting to Peter.

Morgan smiled, having caught his look and launched herself off the counter towards Peter who caught her with minimum effort and transferred her onto his back. “Just like my big bro!” She answered, ruffling his curly brown hair.

“So you must be pretty smart then.” Rhodey continued.

Morgan sniffed and lifted her chin haughtily. “I’m a Stark.” She said as though that answered everything. Which, he supposed it did.

“Boss, the food has arrived. The rest of the team is waiting for you downstairs.” FRIDAY interrupted, a curl of distaste in her tone at the word ‘team’.

Tony let out a loud sigh and stood, slowly making his way to the elevator, “Alright, thanks Babygirl.”

He noticed Peter still had Morgan clinging to his back as they entered the lift and couldn’t contain his slight chuckle, which Rhodey echoed.

When they got to the communal floor everyone was already sitting, food spread across the table. The four quickly made their way to the empty chairs, Peter depositing Morgan into the chair next to his before sitting himself at the head of the table.

Tony settled himself stiffly between Morgan and Rhodey.

There was a tense silence as they started eating that no one seemed interested in breaking until the now familiar voice of Karen rang through the air, startling a few of the team.

“Incoming video call from Iron Mom. Would you like me to answer, Peter?” The robotic voice rang out as the same hologram popped up, watching Peter shrewdly.

Iron Mom .

The man straightened up, eyes wide as he shared a startled look with his sister.

“Didn’t even think- Yes, please, thanks K.” Tony heard him mutter under his breath before answering the AI.

Karen nodded but didn’t disappear, watching the scene with what could only be described as amused anticipation.

There was a beep before a hologram filled the screen in front of Peter and Morgan, who had scooted closer to her brother as the call was answered.

Tony sucked in a breath as Peppers worried face filled the screen. She was obviously older, more laugh lines and grey strands mixed in her strawberry blonde hair. Still beautiful though, Tony couldn’t help but think.

“Oh thank god!” Pepper huffed, eyeing the two with concern. “I got them!” She called to someone off screen.

“Mom!” Peter and Morgan called in unison, Morgan brightly while Peter’s voice seemed wary. Tony started at the address, but shook away the feelings it caused

“Peter,” Pepper said with relief, “are you and Morgan alright? You’re safe?”

Peters eyes darted around the table before he nodded haltingly. “We’re not in any immediate danger.” He answered.

“Good.” Pepper slumped in obvious relief before she straightened up, eyes flashing in a way that Tony was intimately familiar with. Tony braced himself as the women opened her mouth again. “Peter Benjamin Parker-Stark, you and your sister are in so much trouble.”

Peter’s mouth dropped open and he let out an indignant squawk. “What? Mom! It wasn’t even my fault!” He whined petulantly, seeming to forget his surroundings as he defended himself.

Peppers brows shot up and she sent him a look. “So you didn’t jump out of a window in the middle of a board meeting?” Pepper retorted and smirked as Peter winced at her.

Tony gaped at her screen and his eyes darted to Peter in disbelief. ‘Left in the middle of a meeting’ His sister had said earlier. Well, at least the man had style. Tony made a mental note to use that dramatic exit at some point.

He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly, ignoring his sister’s snickers. “Okay, I did do that. But-“

“But nothing. Harley is furious with you.” Pep cut him off. “We’ll discuss your punishment when you’re home. And same with  you, Little Miss.”

Morgan’s laughter cut out abruptly but Peter spoke up before she could say anything.

“What?! Mom, I’m almost thirty years old! You can’t ground me!” Peter scoffed, unknowingly echoing his sister’s words from earlier.

Pepper raised one brow and drilled into him with her eyes until Peter slumped in defeat. She smiled triumphantly before speaking, “Stephen and America are looking for you two as we speak. Do you have any idea where you landed?”

Peter cleared his throat uncomfortably before answering. “Germany. 2016.” He said simply.

Pep gasped, a trembling hand covering her mouth. Her eyes darted around the background, taking in the tower before she closed them tightly, taking a few deep breaths. “You’re at the tower now?”

“Yeah.” Peter winced. “We kind of landed in the middle of the fight. Might’ve stopped it, too.”

Pepper nodded for a little too long before she spoke again, voice shaking. “So that means-“

“Everyone’s here!” Morgan said in a faux bright voice.

“Oh.” Pepper breathed. “Okay, that- okay.”

“Yes.” Peter said simply and Tony could see confusion on everyone’s faces that matched his own. “Where are you?” He asked.

“The compound.” Pepper answered, voice still holding a certain breathless quality.

“Is that Peter?” An unfamiliar female voice called off screen and Pep nodded, eyes softening as she looked up.

Peter went noticeably tense and sheepish at the voice and looked to be visibly preparing himself for whatever interaction was coming.

A few seconds later another attractive woman filled the screen next to Pepper. Heavily pregnant with long brown hair and brown eyes that were filled with ire.

“Peter Benjamin Parker-Stark-Lang! I’m going to kill you!” She screeched, leaning close to the screen. Tony noticed Lang gasp and sit forward out of the corner of his eye. Must be his daughter.

”-full naming me-“ Peter muttered under his breath before gearing up to speak.

“I’ll help.” Karen added sassily, twirling her hair as she watched the interaction with satisfaction.

“Thank you Karen!” Cassie called out, voice still tense.

“Cass-“ Peter started, his voice soft.

“Shut up!” She screeched again, breaths coming heavier until Pepper guided her into a seat, rubbing her back affectionately.

“Deep breathes, sweetie.” Pep said kindly. “Stress isn’t good for the baby.” As she finished her sentence she looked away from her daughter in law and shot her son a hard glare.

The man withered at the look and turned his attention back to his upset wife. “Cassie, baby. I’m so sorry, I’m okay and you can yell at me all you want when we’re home.” Peter murmured, watching his wife with obvious concern and guilt.

The woman, Cassie, looked up, brown eyes flashing again. “You bet your ass I will! I don’t need your damn permission!”

Peter nodded immediately in agreement. “Of course you don’t, my love.”

She scowled in response, “Don’t placate me!”

Peter sighed and shook his head, affection lacing his tone. “Yes, my love.”

Cassie scowled again before turning her attention to Morgan, her entire countenance softening. “How are you doing, lovey?” She asked, rubbing her swollen belly.

“I’m okay, sis. Don’t be too mad at Petey, he was just trying to protect me.” Morgan said, smiling softly at her sister in law.

Cassie rolled her eyes and nodded. “I know, lovey. And don’t think I won’t be having words with you about it too. This is the seventh time you’ve skipped school this year. Not acceptable.”

Morgan slumped guiltily as her mother nodded in agreement. “Yeah, okay.”

Pepper swiftly changed the subject back to the conversation they were having before Cassie showed up. “Who is everyone, exactly?” Her eyes darted around the screen as through she could somehow see everyone at the table.

“Uhm.” Peter cleared his throat uncomfortably. His eyes darted towards the assembled heroes who had all but forgotten their food as they listened to the conversation. “Mr. Stark, Colonel Rhodes, Vision, Miss Romanoff, Miss Maximoff, Sergeant Barnes, Captain Rogers, Mr. Barton, Mr, Wilson and Mr. Lang.” He listed as Pepper nodded, her eyes becoming wide as saucers.

“Oh.” She breathed out. “Wow.”

“Yeah.” Peter huffed a fake sounding laugh.

Cassie’s head shot up at the last name. “My dad is there?”

Peters eyes darted towards where Lang was sitting and he nodded.

“Holy shit!” She said in shock.

“Swear Jar!” Another male voice called out off screen. This one was familiar but Tony couldn’t place it.

“Fuck off!” Cassie retorted. Tony liked her.

Morgan sat forward excitedly. “Is that James?”

Pep rolled her eyes and nodded, beckoning the voice forward.

“James!” Morgan screeched excitedly.

It was only a few seconds before an entirely unfamiliar, familiar face filled the screen leaning between the two women, a cheeky grin on his face.

Tony blinked a few times as he took in the man, his eyes darting to Barnes who was staring at the screen with wide eyes. He took in the differences and if he didn’t know better, he’d think it was a completely different person.

James, they’d called him, was wearing a frilly pink apron that said ‘Kiss The Cook’ and Tony could swear he saw a little white cat peeking out from one of the pockets. He waved a spatula at the screen with his flesh hand as he spoke, “Is that my favorite Stark, I see?”

“Hey!” Peter squawked in offense but was promptly ignored. Tony ignored the way his heart warmed at the idea that this kid considered himself a Stark.

“Yup! And you’ll never believe what I have to tell you!” Morgan whispered in a conspiratorial tone.

“What?” James gasped, playing along.

“Peter keeps calling you Sergeant Barnes, all formal.” She tittered and James’ eyes grew wide with mischief.

He tilted his head, locking eyes with Peter. “Oh, Is he now?”

“Fuck off.” Peter retorted tiredly, rubbing a hand over his face.

“Jar.” Morgan murmured through her giggles.

James gasped in mock shock, his metal hand flying to his chest. “So disrespectful! What did I do to deserve such treatment, hm?”

Morgan shook her head solemnly, “We’ll never know.”

Peter sighed. “Barnes, don’t make me put you on  paperwork duty for a month.”

James gasped theatrically again, a wolfish grin tugging at his lips.

Tony heard Rogers suck in a breath and noticed him staring at the screen with the same wide eyes that Barnes was.

“Damn, so that’s how he looks when he smiles.” Tony heard Wilson mutter under his breath.

“You’re not the boss of me!” James laughed, moving his hand to pet… yup definitely a cat in his pocket.

Peter raised one brow and held his gaze. “Aren’t I?”

Tony watched at disbelief as James slumped before pointing the spatula at the screen threatening. “If you want cookies when you get home, you won’t dare.”

Peter opened his mouth, gaped, and sighed in defeat. With wide hopeful eyes he asked, “What kind of cookies?”

James shrugged, his eyes shining with mirth. “You’ll have to wait and see.”

“Tell me.” Peter scowled, ignoring his families laughter.

“I didn’t raise you to be so disrespectful, Petey.” James teased, nudging Pepper and Cassie with a smirk.

Peter rolled his eyes, “You didn’t raise me at all, James.”

“Who?” James mocked, cupping a hand around his ear.

“James.” Peter growled, annoyance pouring off of him.

“Sorry, Petey. I don’t know any James but if you want any cookies you’ll have to call me by my name .”

James!” Peter groaned.

“Hm?”

Peter growled viciously, “Sergeant Barnes,” He drew the words out threateningly, “Go make out with your boyfriend and leave me alone. And if there aren’t cookies waiting for me I’m going to kick your ass into next week.”

James grinned again, unperturbed by the threat and made a kissy face towards the two Starks before straightening up and moving to leave.

James paused but didn’t get a word out before Peter spoke up again. “Go.” He ordered, receiving a mocking salute and ‘Yes Boss!’ from the cheeky man for his effort.

“Say hi to Uncle Sam for me!” Morgan called as the man moved off the screen, face flushed from laughing.

A metal hand quickly entered the screen, shooting the girl a thumbs up before disappearing just as fast. “Come give me some sugar, Wilson!” James’ voice called distantly.

Pepper rolled her eyes but her smile was bright as she shook her head at their antics.

Tony’s eyes shot to the other side of the table where Wilson and Barnes were pointedly avoiding each others eyes, both looking quite flustered at the implications. Steve was still wide eyed and gaping, but didn’t speak up.

Pepper moved to speak again before her attention caught, once again, on someone off screen.

And once again, an unfamiliar person appeared on the screen. Tony had to do a double take at the older man who was wearing a strange outfit and cape that would probably fit in better on Asgard.

The man looked directly at the camera his face stern. He frowned for a few uncomfortable seconds before sighing. “You two will be the death of me.”

“Aw, come on Stephen, you know you love us.” Morgan cooed at the man, a cheeky grin stretched across her face.

The man, Stephen, rolled his eyes. “Unfortunately I do.” He said, his countenance softening slightly.

“And that’s why you’re our resident wizard!” Peter called, his smile matching his sisters.

Tony supposed that explained the strange getup.

“Sorcerer.” Stephen corrected sternly.

Peter rolled his eyes, waving his hand dismissively. “Yeah, yeah. Tomato, potato.”

“That’s not-“ Stephen cut off and took a deep calming breath. “We should have your location in a few hours.”

Peter slumped in relief. “Good. Okay, that’s good.”

Stephen’s eyes narrowed. “Are you okay?”

Peter waved a hand again. “Oh just dandy. This isn’t my first multiversal rodeo, you know.”

“Don’t I just.” Stephen said, shaking his head. “Don’t do anything too drastic, I beg of you.”

Peter let out a slightly hysterical laugh. “What would you consider too drastic, exactly?” He asked.

Stephen stared at the screen, eyebrows up to his hairline, before sighing and turning away, not answering the question.

“Okay.” Pep said, clapping her hands. “I’m glad you two are safe. We’ll talk when you get home.”

“Okay-“

“Wait!” Yet another unfamiliar voice called in an accented voice. Jesus, how many of them were there?

“Oh god!” Peter groaned slumping in his chair defeatedly.

Tony noticed Cassie and Pepper giggling at his reaction and found himself intrigued, especially when he saw Nat’s face. Ah, the supposed sister.

“брат-паук! ты непослушный мальчик!” Yelena yelled, laughter in her tone.

Natashalie coughed out a startled laugh, her eyes wide and wistful.

Peters nose scrunched up as the blonde woman cuddled into Cassie’s side. “тьфу, сестра-паук, не говори такую чушь.” The man spoke with a perfect Russian accent.

“и почему бы нет?” She retorted.

“Because it’s weird, Lena!” Peter scowled, switching to English.

“It’s not weird!” Yelena defended. “Right, wife?” She asked, looking up at Cassie who nodded in agreement.

“She’s right.” Cassie said, shrugging at Peter’s offended look.

“Hey! My wife, not yours!” Peter called out.

“Вы в этом уверены?” Yelena retorted lasciviously, cuddling up closer to the other woman while Pepper giggled behind her palm.

Because apparently future Pep knows Russian. Makes sense.

“Don’t make me tell Kate!” Peter said, pointing a stern finger towards the hologram.

Yelena gasped, pointing a knife that appeared out of nowhere back at the screen. “You wouldn’t dare!” She retorted, voice threatening.

“Try me.” Peter laughed when the blonde woman slumped, knife disappearing just as fast as it appeared.

“привет сестра паук!” Morgan said, accent just as flawless as her brothers, as she smiled brightly at the woman.

“Ah! My favorite Stark! Привет, детка!” Yelena greeted happily.

“Hey!” Peter called out. “What is it with you Russians liking Morgan more than me?”

“I’m just better than you, Petey.” Morgan said in a haughty manner.

“Morg! You’re supposed to be on my side!” Peter said, offended.

“Says who?” She responded sassily.

“Karen, do you hear this?” Peter said, looking to his AI for support.

The holographic woman nodded in a placating manner before speaking, her voice faux serious. “Yes, Peter. I did hear my favorite Stark’s words.” Karen responded, earning an affronted look from him.

”Love you too, Miss K!” Morgan called, cackling as her brother gasped dramatically.

”My own AI! Turned against me!” Peter said, aghast.

Pep rolled her eyes and spoke up before the conversation could continue. “Morgan, be nice to your brother.”

“Yeah, Moe, be nice to your brother.” Peter repeated tauntingly but snapped his mouth shut when Peppers eyes shot towards him sternly.

“We’ll see you in a few hours. Keep your sister safe.” Pepper said, eyeing both of her children softly.

“Always, Mom.” Peter replied softly, ruffling Morgan’s hair.

“And Little Miss” Pepper started, catching her daughter’s full attention. “Be good for your brother.”

“I will, love you Mom!” Morgan answered, smiling.

“I love you too sweetie, both of you.” Pepper said with a small smile.

“Love you Mom!” Peter said before turning his attention to his wife. “I love you Cass, I’ll be home soon, I promise.”

Cassie softened and smiled, “I love you too baby, see you soon.” She turned her attention to Morgan. “Bye lovey.”

“Bye sis!” Morgan said waving.

“Hey where’s my love?” Yelena shouted, offence lacing her accented voice.

Peter only gave her the finger, nodding at Karen to end the call. There was a beep as both holograms disappeared back into his watch.

And then there was silence for a few seconds before what seemed like everyone started speaking at once, voices overlapping incredulously.

Peters head shot up and his eyes went wide with shock as though he had forgotten they were all sitting there, watching him. The shock swiftly faded, resignation taking its place

He sighed, looked at the ceiling for a few seconds before looking back at the people around the table, his gaze catching onto Tony’s for a split-second before moving to stare at his plate.

“Well. That happened.” Morgan chirped, effectively breaking the tense atmosphere if only for a few moments.

“Can I at least eat before you all start to bombard me with questions?” Peter grumbled, gaze pleading.

Rogers cleared his throat, shooting stern looks at his team before smiling beatifically. “Of course.”

Tony’s mind was blank as everyone started eating again, quiet murmurs of conversation met his ears but he barely paid attention.

Holy shit.

Chapter Text

The team continued to eat in silence, each watching the two time travelers. Both of which were doing a great job of pretending they didn’t notice the staring.

Tony couldn’t help but watch in complete bafflement as the two continued to eat, ignoring the rest of them and conversing under their breath. How they could be so casual about what was going on, he didn’t know.

Rogers was practically vibrating in his chair, and Tony could see the questions waiting to burst from his mouth, the impatient twitch of his brows, the stubborn clench in his jaw.

Tony almost wanted to scoff out loud, as though Rogers wasn’t the one to agree to wait for questioning until after the meal.

As Peter finished the last bite of his food, the entire team visibly straightened up, all but abandoning their own plates. The man, however, only gave his sister a stern look. “Eat. All of it, I know you haven’t had anything since breakfast.”

Morgan grumbled but did as instructed. It was when she finally finished that Peter looked away, bringing his gaze back to the other people at the table. All of which were staring at him intently, Tony included.

“Shall we do this here, then?” Peter asked dully, with a loud sigh that had his sister shoving an elbow into his side.

Before Rogers could speak up Tony stood and clapped his clammy hands together, catching everyone’s attention. “No reason we can’t be comfortable while you talk.” He said, taking charge of the situation and gesturing to the living area.

He quickly walked away, not looking back to see if they followed after him. He took the few seconds he had to gather his thoughts. He was out of his depth with this situation, and while that was a feeling he was rather used to, this one might take the cake.

Settling back into one of the couches, he looked up and watched as everyone sat. Rhodey sat on one side of him while Morgan took the other.

Shooting the teen a questioning look as she settled next to him, she shrugged and flapped a hand at her brother who was standing in front of the TV. “He’s got this. I’m just gonna enjoy the show.”

Tony huffed a small laugh. It was clear the girl- Morgan, his daughter was thriving on the chaos she was inciting.

When everyone started speaking over each other, Peter clapped his hands together, sending everyone a tired glare. “Do we need to use elementary rules or something?” He asked rhetorically.

After a few seconds of silence, Natashalie spoke up. “Who were all of those people?”

Peters brows raised and a smirk twisted his lips. “What? You don’t recognize your own sister?”

Rushmanova’s eyes narrowed slightly. “I saw her.” She answered simply.

“You’re no fun. Fine. That was Pepper Stark, Cassie Stark, James Barnes, Doctor Stephen Strange, and finally Yelena Belova.” Peter huffed with a small pout on his lips.

Tony sucked in a sharp breath at Peppers name. Pepper Stark. It sounded like a fairytail. A dream.

Morgan shot him a concerned look but softened at his reassuring smile. She scooted closer, snuggling into his side tentatively before bringing her attention back to her brother.

“And they are…?” Rogers questioned, posture stiff.

Peter shot him a look before sighing and expanding his explanation. “Pep, whom most of you should be familiar with, is mine and Morgan’s mom. Cassie is my wife, obviously. James, Stephen, and Yelena are all part of the Avengers.” He explained shortly. “That good enough for you? Can we get back to more important topics now?” He asked derisively, locking eyes with the Captain.

“Bucky’s an Avenger?!” Rogers replied excitedly, shooting not so subtle wary looks in Tony’s direction.

Peter, catching the look, scoffed. “Yes, James is an Avenger. And Mr. Stark had nothing to do with that decision. Neither did you.” He said, emphasizing the name. “Don’t call him Bucky, he hates that. I don’t really care if he’s not really here to hear it.” He finished, sending a speculative look at the Winter Solder, who remained stiff, face blank.

“Perhaps we should refocus onto the topic of Thanos.” Vision cut in smoothly, cutting off any response that Rogers might have had.

“Right, yes.” Peter sucked in a deep breath and started. “So in my timeline, after everything with the Civil War, the Avengers stayed out of contact and the Rogues were pretty much constantly on the run from the government with the exception of Mr. Barnes, who was safely recovering from his time with Hydra in Wakanda.”

“Wait, ‘the Rogues’?” Clint interrupted questioningly.

Peter winced. “Oh yeah. That’s what the world called you guys after the airport battle. You, Captain Rogers, Sergeant Barnes, Miss Maximoff, Miss Romanoff, Mr. Wilson, and Mr. Lang were dubbed ‘The Rogue Avengers’.” He finished dramatically, gesturing towards the stunned group.

“Anyway, I started working with Mr. Stark as his intern and he started mentoring me. We got pretty close. Mr. Stark and Pepper got engaged.” He was smiling softly near the end before his face went flat. “Then one morning, June 2018, I was on the bus, going on a field trip to MOMA when this giant spaceship appeared in the middle of Manhattan. Me being me, obviously I had to check it out. I heard that Doctor Banner showed up in the middle of Sanctum yelling about Loki being dead and how Thanos was coming, and how he had the Power and Space stones. He convinced Mr. Stark to call the Rogues for help.”

Before any of them could speak up he continued, tone short and to the point. “When I showed up Mr. Stark, Doctor Banner, and Doctor Strange were fighting these two aliens. Uh, Ebony Maw, he has telekinetic powers and Cull Obsidian, he’s super strong. Maw kidnapped Doctor Strange because he had the Time Stone, so Mr. Stark and I followed them and ended up in space.” He took a shaky breath and gave them a weak smile. Morgan sprang up from her seat and rushed to her brothers arms, holding him tightly. He grabbed Morgan’s trembling hand and clasped it in his own.

Tony’s chest clenched as he listened to what would’ve, could’ve been his future.

“Sanctum?” Wanda asked curiously.

“Doctor Strange’s place.” Peter answered shortly.

The woman nodded in understanding.

“We, um, Mr. Stark, Cloakie, and I- uh- got rid of Maw and we took the ship to Titan, Thanos’ home planet. When we got there we were attacked by who we soon figured out were three of the members of the Guardians of the Galaxy. They had also come looking for Thanos because he had taken his daughter Gamora from them and they wanted her back. So, the six of us, we made a plan to ambush Thanos when he got there but it backfired spectacularly, you don’t really need to know the details, just that he already had gotten the Soul and Reality stones before he arrived on Titan and now he’d gotten the Time Stone from Strange and he was heading for Wakanda where the main battle was taking place. And where the Mind Stone was. The final stone.”

Peter took another deep breath before he continued. “I only know what I’ve heard from other people but from my understanding, Princess Shuri and Doctor Banner were working on a way to safely remove the Mind Stone from Vision so that Miss Maximoff could destroy it without hurting him.” He scrunched his nose and sniffed, avoiding looking at Vision. “There wasn’t enough time. He got the Mind Stone.” He said in a curt tone.

He shook his head before speaking again. “With all of the stones in his possession he could kill half of the universe with the snap of his fingers, and he did. So I died and so did fifty percent of all life, for five years. People, animals, all sentient life across the entire universe. Trillions of living beings, gone in a second. They called it the decimation.”

Everyone had paled at the information, words not coming to them.

“A few weeks after the snap the remaining Avengers got an alert about an energy surge that indicated the Infinity Stones had been used again, they worked together and found Thanos, they planned to steal back the stones and bring everyone back, but he’d used the stones to destroy the stones. Thor killed him. And that was it, for five whole years.” The man’s brown eyes were dull but he smiled gently and wiped his sister’s tears, before turning back to his explanation.

He caught Tony’s eye and smiled again. “You, Rhodey, Pepper, and Happy were all fine. During the five years, you retired, you and Pepper got married and had Morgan, here.” He said, ruffling his sisters hair before turning to some of the Avengers.

Natashalie. “Yelena was snapped and you were in charge of the Avengers, or what was left of them.”

Rogers. “Mr. Wilson and Mr. Barnes were both snapped and you started some kind of support group for the survivors of the decimation.”

Clint. “Your entire family was snapped and you became an assassin or something.”

Wanda. “You were snapped.”

And then Lang. “And you ended up stuck in the quantum realm for five years because Ms. Van Dyne was supposed to take you out but she was snapped. Everyone thought you were too. So when you came back, Cassie was fifteen and it had only been five hours for you but it gave you the idea for the ‘time heist’ which you took straight to the Avengers Compound.”

“I’m sorry did you just say ‘time heist’? What does that even mean?” Sam spoke up, looking concerned.

Rhodey leveled an incredulous look at the man sitting across from him. “That’s the part you’re worried about?”

Wilson raised his hands in surrender. “Hey man, I’m pretty sure I’m in shock or something.”

Peter gave a strained smile. “I’m getting there.” He said, answering Sam’s question. “They basically planned to steal the stones from the past and bring them back to the future, snap everyone back, and then return the stones to the exact moment they had taken them in the first place. Mr. Lang, Miss Romanoff, and Captain Rogers convinced Tony to help them and by help I mean invent time travel for them.”

“I invented time travel?!” Tony squawked, leaning forward in his seat.

“You did.” Peter answered simply, pride shining from his eyes. “And then you, Colonel Rhodes, Captain Rogers, Doctor Banner, Mr. Lang, Mr. Barton, Miss Romanoff, and Nebula completed the time heist and got the stones. Doctor Banner snapped everyone back but something else had happened.”

He took another deep breath before continuing. “See, Nebula is a luphomoid and her brain is basically cybernetic as well as over 68% percent of her entire body. This means that Thanos could view her memories and when Nebula was retrieving the Power Stone he kidnapped her, the Nebula that returned to 2023 was her alternate, who was still loyal to Thanos. Because of this, after everyone had been snapped back, the Thanos from 2014 showed up in 2023 with his entire army and attempted to get the stones so he could redo the snap.”

Taking a shaky breath and wiping his shaking hands on his pants he finished. “There was a very big battle, every hero you could imagine was there. Imagine the biggest battle field you ever seen and quadruple it. When I ‘woke up’ on Titan Doctor Strange told us that it had been five years and that Tony needed us. He made a portal to the Compound and then I was in the thick of it. In the end, Thanos got the stones but before he could snap, somehow Mr. Stark g-got the stones from him an- and- and he snapped away Thanos’ army. It- it killed him.” Peter’s voice broke at his last sentence. Morgan was shaking in her brothers arms, tears staining her face.

Everyone listening seemed shocked into silence and Tony could barely comprehend the words the boy- man had said. Tony had died.

Before anyone could speak up Peter did. “There one more thing. FRIDAY should have all the information you need about the stones but there’s one thing you’re probably better off hearing from me.” When he saw some nods in understanding he continued, “The soul stone. It’s on a planet called Vormir. It’s guarded by a keeper and the only way to get the stone is a sacrifice. A soul for a soul. Thanos sacrificed his daughter Gamora for the stone originally.” He said grimly.

“Wait, you said we grabbed the stones from other timelines. Who went to Vormir?” Rhodey asked, voice authoritative.

Peter winced. “Mr. Barton and Miss Romanoff. But you didn’t know about the sacrifice until Mr. Barton came back alone.”

Tony’s heart skipped a beat at his words, his stomach turning.

“No!” Clint gasped, wrecked.

Nat was stone faced and nodding in satisfaction.

“I’m sorry.” Peter said sympathetically. “But you guys have time to figure something out. A luxury, trust me. One we didn’t have.”

“So that’s pretty much it, any questions?” Morgan piped up in a deceptively sweet tone. If not for the tears still trailing down her cheeks he wouldn’t have suspected anything.

“I died?” Natasha asked, confirming what she already knew.

“Yeah, Auntie Nat.” Morgan said sadly, smiling at the stoic woman.

Auntie Nat?” Natasha asked, shooting Tony a questioning look. At his shrug she turned back to Morgan speculatively.

“Of course! Who do you think taught me Russian? Certainly not Jamie-boy.” Morgan answered, smiling again as she wiped her cheeks and picked nonexistent lint off her sweater.

“Hm.” Natasha hummed, smiling at the girl softly.

“I died.” Tony croaked out, looking up at his children who instantly stilled at his words, despair chasing away the smiles instantly.

“Yes, Mr. Stark. But that won’t be happening this time, right?” Peter asked, or ordered more accurately. His brown eyes were drilling into Tony’s own with uncomfortable intensity.

Shifting uneasily, Tony nodded. “Right.” He choked.

“Good.” Peter nodded firmly. “That’s everything. All other specifics, Karen should’ve sent to FRIDAY already. Right Kare-bear?” He said, tapping his watch.

Tony smirked at the nickname and noticed Rhodey doing the same, nudging him good naturedly.

“I see your kid inherited your need to use ridiculous nicknames.” Rhodey whispered.

“Ridiculous? Honeybear, Platypus, Sour Patch! They are not ridiculous, that’s blasphemy!” Tony murmured back with a small grin.

Again, Karen appeared in front of them, smiling brightly. Though Tony thought he could see the same sadness in her eyes that Peter and Morgan carried when they looked at him. How he hadn’t noticed before, he wasn’t sure. Willful ignorance, probably.

“Of course, Peter.” She said sassily, a smirk twitching her lips.

“Fri?” Tony called to confirm himself.

“Karen has gifted me approximately 347 files pertaining to what Mr. Parker-Stark has spoken with you about today.” FRIDAY answered promptly.

“Including a copy of the Accords from our time. You might find it much more… palatable.” Karen added.

Tony noticed Rogers scowl out of the corner of his eye but resolved to ignore him, especially when the rest of so-called ‘team Cap’ nodded in acquiescence.

“Thank you Karen.” Tony called out, smiling at the AI his future self had made.

“Of course, Mr. Stark.” She replied softly, smiling in his general direction before disappearing again.”

“Why does the hologram appear when she speaks?” Rhodey asked curiously.

Peter rolled his eyes and Morgan smirked. “She says it’s so we don’t misunderstand her jokes and tones. Apparently that’s very important.” Morgan said seriously.

“It is.” Karen’s voice chirped from the watch, no hologram appearing this time.

“Well, you heard the lady.” Peter said with a laugh.

“I want to say hello too!” Another female robotic voice spoke, this time with a French accent. It wasn’t more than a few seconds before a different holographic woman projected from Morgan’s glasses.

She had straight black hair and piercing green eyes. She was, like Karen, wearing an expensive looking pantsuit in an emerald green color. Gold jewelry tastefully added to her look.

She smirked mischievously at the assembled heroes, giving a jaunty wave. “Hello.” She murmured, smiling at the tentative greetings she received.

Tony shivered at the thought that she looked exactly like what he imagined a female version of Loki to look like.

“Edith!” Morgan gasped. “I completely forgot about you! I’m so sorry!”

The AI sniffed imperiously at her ward. “You should be.” She said, dramatically wiping ‘tears’ from her eyes.

“I am!” Morgan said seriously, nodding urgently.

“Edith, stop messing with your sister.” Peter ordered with an amused huff.

Edith sniffed again, flipping her hair over her shoulder. “You’re no fun, Boss.”

Peter rolled his eyes, waving his hand. “Yeah, yeah. I know. I’m the boring brother.”

Karen suddenly popped up next to Edith with a pout on her lips. “You’re not boring, Peter! And if Edith gets to stay out, so do I!”

Tony couldn’t help the laugh that burst from his lips at the sight in front of him. AI’s squabbling like children. Maybe he should make FRIDAY a sibling. He looked at Karen speculatively at that thought. Hmmm.

“Sorry. Sorry.” Tony waved everyone off when all eyes shot to him. “It’s just-“ He trailed off, gesturing to the two AI’s.

Both of them watched Tony with a smile as he got his chuckles under control.

Peter smiled softly, “Well I guess the girls are here to stay.”

Edith and Karen both nodded in agreement to his statement.

“K, can you do me a favor and hang out with Edith, I need to talk to Miss Romanoff about something alone. Why don’t you keep these guys entertained while I’m gone.”

“Got it, Boss Man!” Karen chirped sweetly, hologram disappearing before Karen reappeared next to Edith, wrapping an artificial arm around her sisters shoulder.

Kissing Morgan on the forehead he whispered a small, “Be good.” Before turning to Nat. “Miss Romanoff?” Peter asked, gesturing towards the kitchen.

Natasha watched him intently for a moment before nodding and heading in the direction of the kitchen, Peter following quickly behind.

Tony turned back to Morgan after they disappeared from view and he had to hold in a laugh as he took in the girl, his girl, arguing quietly with the AI’s as everyone watched.

“Ah ah ah!” Morgan hissed. “Peter would be upset.”

Tony watched with wide eyes as both AI’s slumped in defeat at her words. As though Peter being upset was the end of their worlds.

“Anyway!” Morgan chirped, looking away from Karen and Edith to look at the rest of them. “What’s up, my dudes. You alright? I know that was a lot to take in.” She said, throwing herself back on the couch next to Tony.

Wilson let out a hysterical sounding laugh, still looking pale. “Wow, Stark she really is your daughter.”

Tony scowled, pulling the girl into his side protectively. “What’s that supposed to mean?”

“Woah!” Sam held his hands up in surrender. “I don’t mean anything bad by it. She’s just a lot like you. Not a bad thing.”

“Really?” Wanda asked sardonically.

Morgan pulled away from him and stood, hands on her hips as both AI’s watched with wide worried eyes. “I like the older Wanda much better than you.” She hissed angrily, brown eyes burning. “After all that you just heard you still treat my dad like he’s a monster? He died to save the entire universe!”

The witch grimaced sending a distrustful look at Tony. “Maybe yours did but he didn’t.”

“Uh, a nuke in the middle of New York City ring any bells? Flying underneath a falling Sokovia while everyone else evacuated, perhaps?” Morgan spat. “He’s already saved the world at the risk of his own life. More than once!”

Tony noticed Rogers wince at Morgan’s heated words and Tony couldn’t help the insecurity that bubbled up in his chest.

“He killed my parents!” Wanda scowled back, red mist appearing at her fingertips.

Tony felt his heart beating heavily in his chest at the sight of the magic, terror and protectiveness fighting in his mind.

“You know what? I’ve already had this conversation with my version of you and I really don’t feel like doing it all over again. Sit down and be quiet. And keep that witchy magic away from my head, you’ll find you won’t like what happens if you do.” Morgan retorted, scowling fiercely at the woman.

“Woah! What’s going on?” Peter called as he walked into the room with an extremely tense Natasha trailing soundlessly behind him.

“I forgot how annoying younger Wanda was before she had Billy and Tommy.” Morgan snapped angrily.

“Morgan!” Peter hissed.

“What?! It’s true! She’s a bitch and you of all people know it!” Morgan returned.

Peter’s eyes slammed shut and he took a deep cleansing breath before turning away from his sister to look at the offended witch. “I won’t apologize for her.” He said simply before turning to the AI’s. “You weren’t going to intervene?”

Tony smirked as Karen and Edith shrugged in unison, similar looks of dislike on their faces as they watched Wanda from a distance.

”You said to keep them entertained!” Karen sang with an unrepentant grin.

“Urgh!” Peter groaned, running his hand over his beard and moving to flop into an empty armchair next to Tony while Morgan returned to her position on the couch at Tony’s side.

Chapter Text

It was mostly silent for the next few minutes, with the exception of Peter, Morgan, Karen, and Edith whispering together.

Tony couldn’t help his smile as he watched them, Morgan was leaning over the side of the couch towards her brother, a bright grin lighting up her face as she rambled in an eerily similar manner to Peter’s younger counterpart.

Peter’s face was fond as he listened to her, although Tony could still see the underlying tension in his expression, the stiffness in his deceptively casual posture, the way his eyes scanned the room every few seconds before returning his attention to the teenager.

“You’re safe?” His Pepper had asked him.

“We’re not in any immediate danger.” He had replied.

That didn’t sit well with Tony and he couldn’t help but be curious about why Peter felt the need to answer that way. The major dislike he held towards Rogers, though he doesn’t have to think too hard on that one.

He was obviously a long way away from the young boy Tony had met a few days ago. But twenty years will do that to anyone.

Slowly more murmured conversations started between the assembled group, each of them reeling from today’s revelations but not able to stand the silence any longer.

“They really are your kids, huh Tones?” Rhodey whispered loudly, his eyes glued to Morgan and Peter, same as Tony’s.

“Apparently.” Tony huffed in disbelief.

“They’re good kids.” Rhodey said softly.

Tony couldn’t help the warm smile that crossed his face at the words. “Yeah they are.” He said in a dreamy tone, though he would deny it for as long as he lived.

Suddenly Peter looked up, watching him and Rhodey with a soft look in his eyes. His face was flushed and his eyes kept darting away nervously.

And then Tony suddenly remembered. Super hearing.

“Honeybear, he can hear us!” Tony hissed, face and neck flushing with embarrassment.

Rhodey laughed as Peter’s eyes went wide and he looked away, focusing back on his companions, his face sheepish.

“Aww Tones! Are you embarrassed because he heard you being all mushy?” Rhodey asked teasingly.

Tony’s mouth dropped open and he put a hand on his chest. “I am not mushy !” He screeched. Apparently louder than he’d meant to because suddenly all eyes in the room were on him, artificial included.

“Sure you aren’t, daddy.” Morgan said indulgently, a sparkle in her eye as she leaned back into him once more.

He pointed a stern finger at her. “You be quiet, young lady!”

Morgan’s smile was wide and her giggles were possibly the best sound Tony had ever heard. Ah fuck. Rhodey was right. He is mushy! That would not stand. No way, no how. Tony fucking Stark was not the sentimental type.

Rogers cleared his throat, interrupting his internal crisis, and for the first time that day Tony found himself thankful for the interruption. That is, until the good Captain opened his mouth.

“Id like to talk a bit more about the Accords.” He said, after an encouraging look from Wilson and a small twitch of Barnes’ lips.

Tony withheld a groan.

Morgan clapped excitedly, practically bouncing in her seat. “Progress!” She squealed, standing quickly from her seat and moving to the center of the room, Edith by her side with an eager gleam in her eyes.

Tony allowed himself to take a bit of amusement from his daughter’s glee and Rogers responding fear and regret.

“I won’t be able to go as in depth as I’d like because we’re on a time crunch and I have other things I’d like to talk about before I go home. So let’s get started! Okay, so the version of the Accords that is currently in use is a heinous violation of the human rights.” She started passionately but faltered for a second when Rogers started looking vindicated. “For enhanced people. Not the Avengers as a team. I’m not talking about superheroes. I’m talking about the hundreds, thousands even, of regular people who happen to be mutants or mutates.”

Lang raised his hand nervously and she quickly paused, smiling at the man and nodding for him to speak.

“What are mutants and mutates?” Lang asked quietly.

Morgan’s mouth dropped open in shock and she looked towards her brother with wide eyes. “Is this not common knowledge?”

Tony watched as Peter grimaced slightly and shook his head. “Most of them are in hiding at this point because of documents like the current Sokovia Accords. When they were amended and became what they are in our time, enhanced people felt safe enough to come out into the world.”

Morgan scoffed in response, grumbling under her breath before answering the ant guy’s question. “To answer your question, mutants are people who are born with a certain gene called the X-gene and if activated the person will manifest abilities. Usually they can be activated by stress or some life threatening experience. A mutate is a person who was a normal baseline human but due to extenuating circumstances manifested an enhancement. An accident, an experiment, whatever. Peter, Bruce, and Rogers are all perfect examples of mutates.” As she spoke Edith projected the corresponding files and photos.

None of this was new information to Tony, having been in contact with Charles Xavier for years but he couldn’t help the satisfaction in his chest as his daughter laid it out for them.

He startled when Peter whispered from next to him, having moved into Morgan’s seat without him noticing. “I call this her Pepper Mode.”

Tony huffed a small laugh, smile twitching at his lips. “Apt.” He said simply.

Peter only nodded in response, relaxing back into the couch.

“Oh cool.” Lang said faintly, brows still furrowed in confusion.

“Anyway, currently the Accords are actually quite favorable towards the Avengers, as long as Ross is contained. These countries, the U.N. want to work with you, not against you. Not to mention that they are open to amendments and if you present a united front, as a team, it will be much easier to change and use to your advantage than it would be if, say only Iron Man was working to do that while the rest of the Avengers are hailed national terrorists.” She spoke sharply and matter of fact. Tony could definitely see why Peter called this her ‘Pepper Mode’.

“The real problems come from the enhanced registration that is currently being enforced. I’m sure I don’t need to go into detail about why that is a problem.” Morgan said, looking for their reactions to her words. Most of them were nodding in agreement to her words, with the exception of ( surprise! ) Rogers who only looked confused.

Morgan’s eyes sharpened even further as she took in his face and her next words were curt and laced with fury. “What happened the last time a certain kind of human beings had to register their existence with the government, Captain?”

Rogers mouth dropped open as her words dawned on him and his face went pale.

Morgan nodded in satisfaction. “Exactly.” She said firmly. “I don’t think I want to talk about this anymore, actually. This is something you all need to discuss and figure out as a team. The files K sent have all the information you need and more. I urge you to read our version of the Accords before making any decisions.” She moved back to the couch swiftly, avoiding everyone’s eyes as she tucked herself between Tony and Peter.

Tony cleared his throat. “I think it’s best if we all retire for the night.”

“But-“ Rogers argued.

“No. Mr. Stark is right, anything we haven’t told you explicitly, FRIDAY will be able to.” Peter cut in firmly, cradling his sister in his arms as he stood.

“How can we trust Starks AI.” Wanda spat, eyeing the ceiling distrustfully and not noticing Visions slight flinch.

“Morgan was right. You are a bitch.” Tony heard Peter mutter under his breath before he met the witches eyes with his own. Tony stifled a snicker he heard Morgan’s muffled “told you!” as the man spoke over her. “FRIDAY is one of the best people I know and I’d trust her more than I’d trust half of the people in this room combined.”

“Why would we trust you?” Wanda retorted.

Morgan scoffed under his breath. “Are you fucking kidding me? In case you didn’t infer this from the phone call earlier; Petey is the leader of the Avengers in our time. He is one of the most well known and well loved superheroes on Earth only surpassed by Iron Man who literally died to save the world and a select few others, none of which are currently sitting in this room, by the way. Iron Man, the same person that built FRIDAY’s code from scratch.” The girl spat.

“Yeah I have no idea why you would ever trust either of us, especially since we just single-handedly saved all of your asses from making the same mistakes you did in our universe. Sure, don’t listen to us or FRIDAY. Try figuring it out on your own. No skin off my teeth, I’ll be back in my universe safe and sound.” Peter continued Morgans speech, his tone curt, before muttering under his breath. “Well as safe as I can get as a superhero and the CEO of a multi billion dollar international conglomerate.”

After he finished speaking he took in the stunned silence before nodding in satisfaction and walking towards the elevator without a backwards glance.

Tony didn’t think he’d ever seen this group shocked into silence so many times in one day and he kind of loved it despite the circumstances.

As his kids entered the elevator he heard FRIDAY’s voice echoing from the speaker in the lift. “Thank you, Mr. Parker-Stark, Miss Stark.” She said warmly.

As the doors closed he only just caught Peter’s response. “Call me Peter, Fri. We’re family, after all.”

“Hell yeah we are!” Morgan’s voice called brightly.

Tony ignored the warmth that burst in his chest at the exchange and turned his attention towards the remaining people in the room.

“Well.” He said standing awkwardly. “I’m just gonna-“ He gestured vaguely at the elevator and quickly booked it away from the tension in the room, Rhodey following closely behind him. He didn’t give any of them a chance to stop him as he entered the lift and had FRIDAY speed them up to the penthouse.

When they stepped into the living room, Morgan and Peter were laying on the couch together, not speaking. Tony noticed that both AI’s had disappeared and his chest clenched at the looks on his kids faces. He had no clue how to do this parent thing but like hell was he not going to try.

“You alright, kiddos?” Tony asked, wincing slightly as his words slipped out. Him and Rhodey both settled into the couch opposite the time travelers, both watching them with varying degrees of worry.

“We’re fine, Mr. Stark.” Peter answered softly, running his fingers through Morgan’s brunette waves.

“I don’t know how you deal with them, Dad.” Morgan spat, sitting up slightly.

He huffed a laugh. “I’m not sure I know either, Morguna.”

Tony was not expecting tears to well in Morgan’s eyes at his words. “What- what is it? Are you okay? Morguna?”

Morgan sniffed loudly. “Sorry- sorry it’s just-“ She broke off, wiping her eyes heatedly. “That’s what you used to call me.”

“Oh.” Tony breathed out, hands shaking slightly. “I’m sorry.” He said with a questioning lilt.

“No don’t apologize, please.” Morgan said, holding up a hand as though she could ward off any more apologies. “I just wasn’t expecting it, is all.”

“I’m-“ At Morgan’s sharp look Tony’s mouth snapped shit, the ‘sorry’ still on the tip of his tongue.

“Oh Thor! Mom told me you had a guilt complex the size of Manhattan but I didn’t realize it was this bad.” Morgan joked, the waver in her voice betraying her slightly.

Tony and Rhodey both burst into unexpected laughter, Rhodey slapping his knee with mirth.

“Sounds like Pep.” Rhodey said fondly.

Tony’s lips twitched. “Yeah, it does.”

Morgan snickered under her breath and sends both men a cheeky grin. “Uncle Happy, Uncle Rhodey, and Aunt May always say I’m the perfect combination of Mom and Dad.”

“May?” Tony asked, looking towards the duo with slight confusion curiosity.

Peter smiles softly, “Yeah, she got to know you pretty well during those five years and before. You were friends. Well, you became friends after she nearly hit you in the head with a frying pan for taking me to Germany and encouraging my vigilantism. She and Mom are really close.” He huffed a small laugh.

Tony shuddered. “That sounds like a terrifying pair.”

Peter and Morgan both nodded emphatically. “You have no idea.” Peter said seriously, eyes wide.

“But you will!” Morgan added mischievously, her previous anger and sadness seemingly gone.

Rhodey clapped a hand on Tony’s back. “Good luck Tones.” He smirked.

“Oh no Platypus, you’ll be right by my side. Like always.” Tony said cheekily, raising a brow.

Rhodey’s smile quickly dropped and he turned back to the snickering duo. “Just how scary is this aunt?” Rhodey asked, a pleading note in his voice.

They didn’t respond but the answering identical smirks were enough. Rhodey released a groan and slumped into the couch. Tony couldn’t help his grin.

“So, tell me about yourselves.” Tony ordered, smiling.

Peter gave him an unimpressed stare. “Really, Mr. Stark?”

“What?” Tony asked unrepentantly. “I want to know everything.”

Morgan smiled and Peter rolled his eyes but Tony could see the warmth shining from them as he looked at Tony.

“Like that lovely wife of yours, for example, seems to have you wrapped around her little finger.” Tony teased Peter good-naturedly.

Morgan snickered as a grimace overtook the man’s face. “Oh please, like I don’t know you’re the exact same with Mom.” Peter retorted with a grin.

Tony winced. “Pep and I are on a break, actually.”

“What!?” Morgan squeaked, brown eyes wide with shock.

“Oh yeah.” Peter hummed at the same time. “I forgot about that.” He waved a dismissive hand. “Don’t worry Moe, they’ll be okay.”

“But- but-“ She stuttered.

“Yeah! We’ll be fine.” Tony said with faux assuredness, with a press smile pasted on.

Peter rolled his eyes again, catching Tony’s eyes with that same intensity. “You will be.” He said, tilting his head towards a still stunned Morgan.

Ah, the literal evidence of his and Peppers ‘okayness’.

“Why don’t you tell him about your friends and school, hm?” Peter prompted his sister kindly. A mischievous smile pulled at his lips. “You heard the man, he wants to know everything.”

Morgan quickly fell into a deep ramble as she spoke about her classes, teachers, friends, and superhero and lab activities while the three men watched her with soft affectionate smiles.

Tony huffed a laugh as his girl got even more animated when she began talking about her family, hands waving wildly as she told stories about them, Peter chiming in with extra details every few minutes. Soon she’d veered off into her dreams for the future, college, the company. Whoever said it before was right, she was the perfect combination of him and Pepper. Tony was sure just from her intelligent chatter that she was smarter than both him and Pep combined.

Soon enough Peter was talking about his own life, more reserved than Morgan but Tony didn’t care. He soaked up the details about MIT, revealing his identity to the world, his role in the company, as well as stories about Harley, Morgan, and himself sprinkled through.

His three kids.

A part of him wished Harley had come along with them, just so he could see who the kid had grown up to be. Probably a mini-him if he were to guess. He shuddered at the thought.

Just as they finished telling a story about Peter’s college graduation and subsequent proposal to his then girlfriend orange sparks appeared and suddenly a (much as he hates to call it this) portal was opening in the middle of his living room and a man was stepping through, portal closing behind him.

Both time travelers jumped up excitedly at the sight, Morgan rushing into the man’s arms with a yell of, “Doctor Strange, you’re here!”

Tony and Rhodey both rose as well, though more wearily than the kids. As the man entered FRIDAY started setting off an intruder alert, which stopped after a few seconds when Tony waved his hand.

The man, however, stayed completely stiff, not returning the embrace. After a few seconds the girl noticed and stumbled back slightly to look up at the man.

Peter had already returned to his seat with an annoyed sigh as he watched the scene. He ran a tired hand over his face, tugging on his beard.

“You’re not Doctor Strange!” Morgan blurted out.

Not-Doctor Strange gave her a weird look before speaking stiffly. “I’m most certain that I am.” He looked at the two travelers, eyes passing over Tony without a second look. “You don’t belong here.”

As they spoke Tony heard the elevator door open and turned to see all of the remaining Avengers rushing up, weapons held aloft. They paused however as they took in the scene and Tony’s casual stance.

“No shit sherlock.” Peter grumbled. “What are you even doing here. Isn’t checking on abnormalities the Sorcerer Supremes job?”

Not-Doctor Strange stiffened even further. “The Ancient One sent me. She said it was important that I do this myself. How do you know about the Sorcerer Supreme?” He questioned warily.

Peter rolled his eyes, not answering and mumbling under his breath. “Meddling old-“ He paused looking up at the wizard. “So are you a Master yet or still an apprentice?” He deflected.

The wizard sniffed haughtily. “I have reached Master status.” He narrowed his eyes at the duo again. “You shouldn’t be here.”

“Who are you?” Rogers called out, stance still defensive. He was promptly ignored by all parties.

“Yeah well it’s not like it was on purpose and our Doctor Strange is looking for us as we speak.” Morgan retorted.

Not-Strange’s mouth dropped open. “Your Doctor Strange?” He echoed incredulously.

As if on cue blue sparks started forming in the air and a different star shaped portal opened and five people rushed out. Tony could also hear shouts and laughter echoing from inside the portal.

The first person was an obviously older version of the man who had been arguing with Peter and Morgan, alongside a girl who was holding the portal open. She was dressed in casual clothing and watching everyone with a small smile.

“Oh thank Vishanti!” Doctor Strange breathed in relief, rushing towards Peter and Morgan and snatching them into a hug. He pulled away and looked them up and down as though searching for injuries before sighing loudly and hugging them again.

The 2016 Strange was staring wide eyed and gaping as his counterpart fussed over the two ‘abnormalities’.

The other three were dressed in full combat gear, weapons at the ready, causing the Avengers to resume their positions with their own weapons.

The only other male besides Doctor Strange was dressed in an iron suit similar to the one Morgan had been wearing earlier but a tasteful blend of red, grey, and yellow. His repulsers were raised threateningly. Though they were pointed at Peter, not the rest of them. Peter squeaked as the man rushed towards him, his spider suit enveloping him once more as he jumped on the ceiling to escape the other man.

The other two girls were standing shoulder to shoulder. One was obviously the woman from the video call earlier, Yelena. She was wearing a suit almost identical to the one he had made for Nat with only a few exceptions. One being the pure white color. The brunette woman next to her was dressed in a purple suit obviously inspired from Hawkeye’s, bow and arrow poised to fire at the assembled group.

All three suits had the same futurist flare that he could only dream of as Morgan and Peter’s own suits. Stephen was still fussing over Morgan but paused to roll his eyes at their antics.

“Harley!” Peter yelped as the man began to fly towards him. “No flying in the house!”

“This isn’t the house!” Harley, apparently, retorted with a mad sounding cackle.

“I’m sorry!” Peter yelled, climbing along the ceiling to get away from his would be attacker.

Harley landed on the ground with a thump, his mask retracting to reveal a scowling face that looked decades older than the boy Tony knew. “YOU JUMPED OUT of A WINDOW! Do you know how much paperwork I had to because of you?! I’m the R&D guy!! I don’t do paperwork! That’s your job.” He yelled angrily, southern accent thickening with emotions.

Peter quickly dropped from the ceiling, suit dissolving, hands held up in surrender. “I’m sorry. I’m sorry, okay?” He said, approaching the man cautiously.

As he got closer, Harley swiftly smacked him upside the head before dragging Peter into a tight hug, pulling Morgan in too. “You asshole! Don’t do that again. You scared me. Both of you.”

“I’m sorry.” Peter muttered again, shamefaced.

“Me too.” Morgan said softly, holding her oldest brother tightly.

Harley huffed a breath, holding them for a few moments longer before looking up at the room.

Tony took a second to look around as well, Yelena had quickly fallen into her sister’s arms, and they were murmuring to each other too quietly for him to hear. Both of their faces were soft with affection.

The archer was still standing defensively but dropped her stance as soon as her eyes fell onto Barton. Her face lit up and she raced over to the startled man, bow forgotten.

“OMG! Clint! You’re so cute!” The woman yelled, with a cheeky grin. “Aw, look at you. Such a little baby! ‘Lena, babe! Look at him!”

Yelena rolled her eyes, pulling away from her Natasha’s embrace. “Kate Bishop, what is it with you and Clint Barton?”

Kate grinned unrepentantly. “Look how young he is!”

Yelena let her gaze run over him judgmentally. Tony snickered when Clint shifted uneasily under her stare. “I would not call him young.” She said, a Russian accent lacing her words.

“Uh? Thank you?” Barton said, confused.

“It was not a compliment.” Yelena retorted primly before skipping back to her sister’s side. But not before smacking a kiss on Kate’s lips and booping Barton on the nose.

Kate watched the other woman leave with a dreamy sigh before immediately returning her attention to Hawkeye and pinching one of his cheeks. “So adorable!” She squealed.

When she went to grab at him again, Clint reacted, moving to flip the woman but in a move too fast for Tony to see, she had him on the floor.

“Wha-“ Clint mumbled, disoriented.

“OMG I’m so sorry!” Kate gasped before grinning down at the man. “You like that? You taught me that.” She said smugly. “That was so awesome! I’ve never been able to beat you before. I’m so telling Laura about this when we get home!”

Clint’s eyes widened. “You know Laura?”

“Of course I do silly! I only spend almost ninety percent of my time at your house!” Kate chirped happily, looking at Clint as thought her was a little dumb.

“You-“

“Kate, stop messing with Mr. Barton.” Peter interrupted tiredly.

Kate pouted for a moment before his words registered and she burst into laughter. “M-M-Mr. Bar- Barton?! OMG!”

Peter pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed. “Shut up.”

Kate continued laughing so hard that she fell to the floor clutching her stomach.

Tony noticed Harley smiling at the sight and made his way closer to the man. “Hey Potato-Boy!”

Harley grinned, eyes suspiciously shiny. “Hey old man.”

Tony squawked, putting a hand to his chest in offense. “I am not old! Take it back you little gremlin.”

“Are too.” Harley returned cheekily.

“Who are all of you?” Rogers cut in loudly, standing in the center of the room with Wilson and Barnes at his sides, his posture still defensive and his shield in his hand.

“Ooh! Me first!” Kate yelled excitedly, hand raised over her head. “Hello! I’m Kate Bishop and I’m Hawkeye.”

“That’s Hawkeye.” Sam said, pointing at Clint.

“OH MY GOD! CAPTAIN AMERICA!” Kate yelled bouncing on her toes as Yelena made her way to her side.

It was a shock to everyone when instead of pointing at Rogers, she pointed at Sam.

Yelena rolled her eyes. “ Моя дорогая птица , you literally see him almost every day. You were just talking to him in the kitchen eating James’ cookies!”

“What kind of cookies!” Peter called excitedly, turning sheepish when all eyes turned to look at him incredulously. “He wouldn’t tell me.” He defended with a shrug.

“The Reese’s and Red Velvet Cheesecake.” Kate answered dreamily.

“Yesss.” Peter hissed under his breath, pumping his fist. He paused and began smiling awkwardly at the looks he received. Incredulous from the 2016 crowd and fond from those from his own universe. Morgan was giggling at his side.

“Is nobody going to address that woman just referred to Sam as Captain America?” Wanda asked, eyes darting between the energetic brunette to Wilson and Rogers.

“Well he became Captain America after-“ Kate started but was cut off when Yelena put a hand over her mouth.

“I am Yelena Belova, White Widow.” She said shortly, cutting off Kate’s explanation and continuing the introductions, after she was done she turned to look at Harley.

Harley grinned and moved away from Tony’s side to stand next to his teammates. Taking an exaggerated bow and spreading his arms in a classic Stark move, he spoke, “My name is Harley Keener and I am Iron Legacy but you can call me Doctor Keener.” He said with cheeky wink.

He swiftly turned around and dragged the girl that had been standing with the Strange’s forward, prompting her to introduce herself as well.

She stepped forward, giving them all a nervous smile. She tucked a strand of black hair behind her ear as she spoke. “I’m America Chavez or Miss America.”

After she finished speaking, Strange stepped away from where he was conversing with Not-Strange. “And I am Doctor Stephen Strange, Sorcerer Supreme.” Doctor Stephen Strange, Sorcere Supreme (whatever that’s supposed to mean) said curtly. His cape detached from his shoulders and floated forward. “And this is the Cloak of Levitation.”

“Cloakie!” All of their visitors shouted in unison.

Strange rolled his eyes as the cloak did some strange (ha) version of a nod. “Cloakie.” He corrected himself with a reproachful sigh.

The cloak then did a seemingly random series of gestures that Tony had no hope of translating. But Strange apparently understood as he nodded in acquiescence. The cloak swiftly flew over to Not-Strange and his cloak, the two pieces of fabric started circling each other, gesturing enthusiastically.

Tony returned his attention to the other people in the room, resolving not to think about that for a very long time.

“Great. Now that that’s out of the way. We should go.” Strange said, gesturing to the portal.

“But-“ Kate protested, eyes wide.

“Say your goodbyes.” Pepper said, appearing from the other side of the star shaped portal. She didn’t step through but she did watch from the other side, a soft look on her face.

“Fine.” Kate whined, moving back over to Barton and began talking animatedly at the man.

Yelena moved back to Natasha’s side, squeezing her in a tight hug and whispering something in her ear.

Then the two made their way towards the portal together. Just before they stepped through Natasha whistled a note into the air. Yelena faltered in her steps, turning with tears streaming down her cheeks, she whistled back. Natasha smiled softly and nodded encouragingly. With that the duo went through the portal. Greetings could be heard from multiple unfamiliar voices on the other side.

Tony’s stomach clenched as he turned to look at Peter, Morgan, and Harley. All three of his kids were standing side by side, watching him with matching looks of wistfulness in their eyes.

“See ya, Mechanic.” Harley said, a mischievous smile trembling on his lips, his voice cracking slightly on the address. He pulled Tony into a quick but firm hug and whispered. “Love you.”

Before he could even think of responding, Harley was walking away, tucking himself into Pepper’s side.

Then it was just Peter and Morgan. Peter stepped forward, sending his sister a reassuring smile.

“Please give little me a real internship. You and I both know you want to.” Peter said cheekily before pulling him into a much longer and softer hug than Harley had. Tony tentatively returned the gesture.

“Keep Rogers away from the Time Stone.” Peter whispered before pulling away. With a smile, he headed towards his mom and brother. “Goodbye, Mr. Stark. I love you.”

“Bye kid.” Tony whispered, feeling an ache in his chest.

Morgan rushed forward, clinging to Tony as tightly as she could, sobs wracking her whole body. “I-I don’t want to leave.” She mumbled through her wails.

“I don’t want you to leave either.” Tony admitted, pressing a kiss to the girls head. He continued to hold her as she cried, running his fingers through her hair every few seconds.

When Tony felt eyes drilling into him, he looked up, catching Pepper’s warm gaze. Her eyes looked red and shiny but all he could see was a sense of contentment radiating from her as she watched them.

“Hey Pep.” Tony said, smiling at the woman he loved.

“Tony.” She returned, sounding choked but happy.

“You did good with these ones.” He said, gesturing to his three kids.

Peppers smile widened into a sharp grin. “Did you expect anything less, Mr. Stark?” She asked searchingly.

Tony’s eyes widened and then crinkled, “Of course not, Miss Potts.” He answered promptly.

“It’s Mrs. Stark now.” Pepper said teasingly, watching him intently.

Tony couldn’t help his grin, even as his face flushed. “Now, that’s a name.”

“Dad, stop flirting with Mom. It’s gross.” Morgan groaned into his chest, loud enough for Pepper to hear.

“Uh excuse me Little Miss, it is not gross. It’s very tasteful!” Tony defended, squeezing Morgan once before she detached herself from his chest and grabbed onto both his hands.

“I love you 3000, Dad.” Morgan said, watching him, face blotchy.

“Wow, that’s a lot.” Tony joked halfheartedly before becoming more serious. “I love you too Morgan.” He said, pulling her into one more hug before she pulled away and slowly made her way towards the portal, falling into her mom’s arms, her cries muffled.

Tony’s chest ached as he watched his family and they watched him. There was a sense of peace in the air but it still hurt.

Soon enough Strange was summoning his sentient cape and saying goodbye to Not-Strange who quickly portalled away. Then he was stepping through the portal with Miss America at his side. They both turned around and waved at the assembled group before the portal snapped shut with a hiss of blue sparks.

There was a solemn silence that permeated the air for several minutes before Rhodey spoke.

“Did that really just happen.” He asked incredulously.

Not a single voice answered him and Tony turned on his heel and headed towards his personal lab, asking FRIDAY to see everyone off of his floor.

Settling into his chair he pulled a holoscreen closer to himself and cracked his knuckles.

“Alright Babygirl, we’ve got some work to do.” He said grimly before pulling up the files that Karen sent.

He wouldn’t sleep or leave the lab for the next 78 hours.

POV Morgan Hope Stark

As the portal snapped shut behind Stephen and America, Morgan let herself to collapse into her families arms, sobs unforgivingly wracking her body.

“It’s okay baby. It’s okay.” Her mom was murmuring, running a soothing hand down her back. When she looked up she could see the tears streaking down most of the rooms occupants cheeks.

Peter had found his way into Cassie’s warm embrace and  Harley was huddled close to her, shaky smile on his face Morgan knew was just for her. She could see Kate holding a trembling Yelena in her arms as their resident spy broke down. Stephen and America were watching them all with identical worried frowns.

“I-I- he was right there, Momma. I-“ Morgan broke off, frustrated.

“I know baby.” Her mom said, gently wiping away her tears and helping her stand.

“I miss him so much.” Morgan said helplessly.

“So do I.” Pepper assured her, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear affectionately. “But think of this as what it was, a gift. This was a gift Morgan  Hope Stark, treasure it. Let yourself be sad but move on, and remember. That goes for all of you. ” She said wisely, looking at Peter, Harley, Morgan, and Yelena in particular.

“She’s right Morgs.” Peter said, arm around his wife’s waist.

“She’s always right.” Morgan sniffed, breaking away from her mother’s gentle hold. “It’s just hard.”

“It is. But we will be okay.” Yelena cut in firmly, tears drying on her cheeks and determination shining fiercely from her eyes.

“We will.” Harley said with surety.

“And so will they.” Peter said, staring at where the portal had been and Morgan felt a rush of relief at that thought. She had saved one version of her father and that would have to be enough.

“Oh?” Stephen questioned, brow raised.

“We may have told them… well-“ Peter started sheepishly.

“Everything.” Morgan cut in. “We told them everything. And left files for FRIDAY.”

“Oh.” Pepper breathed, eyes wide and watering once more.

“They’ll be okay.” Morgan repeated Peters earlier statement.

That would be enough.

Chapter Text

August 10, 2019

Tony’s smile was bright as wails filled the room, even as his hand screamed in pain under his wife’s unrelenting grip.

“Do you want to cut the cord, daddy?” The midwife asked kindly.

Tony immediately nodded, moving away from Peppers side and grabbing a hold of the scissors.

Soon enough a pink bundle was pressed to Peppers chest. The woman had a beautiful smile on her tired face as she looked down at their dozing daughter.

“Morgan Hope Stark.” Pepper whispered. “It’s perfect.”

“She is.” Tony was mesmerized as a tiny hand clenched around his pointer finger, his heart lighter than it had ever been. Love filled his chest and he couldn’t tear his eyes away from the beautiful sight.

After a few minutes he began shifting slightly causing Pepper to roll her eyes and smile softly.

She jerked her head at the door. “Go get them.”

His eyes widened and his heart began pounding in his chest. “Are you sure?” He asked.

Pepper rolled her eyes again, shooing him away. “Go! Go!”

“Okay, okay! If you wanted to get rid of me you could’ve just said so.” He called cheekily as he raced out of the door.

As soon as he stepped out of the room, multiple people shot up from where they had been waiting. Peter and Harley were first, eager looks on their faces. Rhodey, Happy, May, and Harley’s mom Angela followed at a slightly more sedate pace.

“Morgan Hope Stark. Six pounds and nine ounces, eighteen inches. She’s perfect.” Tony said breathlessly. He turned to look at Harley and Peter directly. “You wanna meet your little sister?”

Both boys nodded wordlessly, eyes wide.

“Come on, then.” Tony beckoned before turning to the adults. “Give us a few minutes.” He requested.

After receiving nods he ushered the boys into the room.

”Come on in, big brothers.” Pepper called with a sleepy grin. Peter and Harley both smiled brightly and shuffled forward nervously.

Retrieving the sleeping bundle from Peppers arms, he called the Harley and Peter closer.

Both boys had tears in their eyes and adoring looks on their faces as they stared down at her dumbstruck.

“She’s so pretty.” Peter mumbled, running a gentle finger down the baby’s cheek.

“Do you boys want to hold her?” Tony asked softly, sharing a smile with his wife.

“Yes!” Harley said excitedly, reaching forward cautiously.

Tony grinned and transferred the baby into his arms, helping him hold her properly.

Both boys moved to sit on the edge of Pepper’s hospital bed, staring down at Morgan in Harley’s arms.

Soon Peter was holding her with a bright grin. “Hey birthday twin.” He greeted in a whisper. “You’re going to be the best of us.” He said softly, surely.

At his words Tony remembered the young girl he had met over three years ago with a pang in his chest. The girl and her brother, who had changed his world. Given him and the Avengers what they needed to defeat Thanos. Which they had over a year ago.

Tony watched his four favorite people in the universe with pure satisfaction blooming in his chest. Pride and protectiveness rushed through him.

He had his family. They were safe. It was enough.
