Isekai Theater

Chapter 24: A Question To My Audience

Chapter Text

Hello, my dear readers, Null here.

Sorry if you thought this is going to be an update. I have been so busy these past few weeks that I haven't even begun to write the next chapters so sorry about that.

Now then, with that being said, here is the reason I wrote this Author's Note.

I was actually about to begin writing the next few chapters this week, but then I began to think very deeply.

This fanfiction is a gargantuan project. A reaction fic of one story is no easy feat by itself, but a reaction fic of nine different series with the cast of everyone included is nigh-impossible. It is a miracle that I managed to reach this far. However, I am only one human with many hobbies. I am NOT being paid to do this. This fic is fueled solely by my own passion.

Now, before anyone panics, I am not abandoning the story. I love this fic way too much, and I have invested way too much time in this fic for me to drop it.

If the author of 100 Girlfriends can write a story about 100 different distinct girls and come up with them, I can write about that many characters that I don't even have to come up with.

With that being said, it is difficult for me to write these chapters. Ridiculously so. Because of this, I thought of an idea.

An idea that may very well not be received positively, but it is a risk that I'm willing to take if I want to make it easier for me to write this story.

So, the typical format of a reaction fic is:

(Canon Story Material)

Reaction Part

That's how most reaction fics work. However, this is extremely difficult for me.

Not only do I have to read the chapter, but I also have to summarize it then put it in the fanfic. This is harder than one may think. In fact, I've spent entire weeks just transcribing the chapters, even before writing any of the actual fanfic material. Imagine putting in an entire paragraph of stuff only for the reaction bit to be three lines, I feel like I just wasted my time. I also have to look at the chapter carefully to see what parts I include in the summary or not.

I suffer with this problem with Overlord the most, where there's a lot of lore that I have to practically skip. It is absolutely tedious.

With this, I thought of this idea: I am just going to not include the canon material in the chapter itself, just the reaction part.

That means that we just get the reaction of the audience, the canon part that is normally there is now not there. We just read the reactions of the audience to the scenes.

I know how EXTREMELY LAZY this is, and this is cutting a whole lot of corners, but think about it. People read reaction fics because they want to see how the characters react to their own shows (or fanfics) as well as the possible character interactions and consequences that come from them knowing this stuff.

I know some people read reaction fics as a way to read the canon material as well, but who would actually read this fanfic, with its random order, as a substitute for reading canon?

The reason why the canon part is written as well is simply because it is a way to keep track of where we are within the story.

And so here we go: Do you guys want to go with the usual formula, or do you guys want to go with this proposed formula for this fanfic? The choice is yours!

For visualization purposes:

Usual Formula:

Canon Part
Reaction Part

Proposed Formula:

Reaction Part

Reaction Part

With that, Null out!
