Chapter Text
Destinee wakes up the next morning. She is going to hang out with Alastor again, just like Vox told her. She gets out of bed. She gets dressed. She goes downstairs. She sits on the couch. Alastor comes downstairs. He sees her. He walks over to her.
Alastor: Good morning, Destinee.
Destinee: Good morning, Alastor.
Alastor sits next to her. He rests his cane on his lap.
Alastor: I had a good time with you yesterday.
Destinee blushes.
Destinee: I had a good time with you too.
Alastor smiles. She smiles back. Vox comes over to them. He looks sad.
Destinee: Vox, what's wrong?
Vox: Val had to leave again. I miss him.
Destinee stands up and puts her hand on his shoulder.
Destinee: I'm sorry, Vox. I'm sure he will come back soon.
Vox: I didn't even get to ask him if he knew how to fly.
Destinee: You can ask him when he gets back.
Vox nods.
Vox: Thanks, Destinee.
Destinee: Of course. That's what friends are for.
Vox: I'll leave you guys be.
Vox goes back upstairs. Destinee sits back down.
Alastor: Do you want to come to the Overlord meeting with me?
Destinee: But, what about last time? I wouldn't want to ruin your reputation.
Alastor: I don't care about that. It's time that they respect Vox. Vox should come too.
Destinee: I don't know if his anxiety would be able to handle it.
Alastor: We will protect him.
Destinee nods. She goes upstairs. She knocks on Vox's door.
Vox: Oh, Destinee. What's up?
Destinee: Do you want to come to the Overlord meeting with me and Alastor.
Vox looks down. His legs move nervously.
Vox: Umm, I don't know if that's a good idea. They don't like me.
Destinee: Alastor said he would defend you.
Vox: Are you sure?
Destinee: Yes, and I will be there too.
Vox: Ok.
Destinee takes his hand. She brings him downstairs.
Alastor: Vox, I'm so happy you are joining us!
Vox: I hope I don't regret this.
They go to the Overlord meeting. Vox is nervous. He is shaking. He pauses.
Destinee: Vox, what's wrong?
Vox: I'm scared. I haven't been to one of these for so long.
Destinee: You're going to be alright. We won't let them do anything to you.
Destinee puts her hand on his shoulder.
Destinee: I promise.
Vox: Ok.
They go into the meeting room.
Carmillia: Alastor, Destinee, nice of you to join us. Vox? What are you doing here?
Vox: Ummm....
Destinee: He's here for the meeting.
Carmillia: Whatever.
Carmillia rolls her eyes. Vox nervously sits down between Alastor and Destinee. Destinee holds his hand.
Carmillia: So, Vox, I saw that interview you did with Destinee. I have to say it doesn't change anything. You are still pathetic.
Vox looks down and holds in tears. His hands are shaking. Destinee notices. She looks at Alastor.
Alastor: Carmillia, may you stop speaking of Vox like that? It's not very formal.
Carmillia: Since when did you care about how Vox felt?
Alastor: Since Destinee has shown me kindness. Now, stop making fun of him. He isn't pathetic for having anxiety.
Carmillia rolls her eyes.
Carmillia: Whatever. Watch where you step, Radio Demon or you might lose your reputation.
Alastor rolls his eyes. Vox calms down a little.
Carmillia: Well, Vox, since you haven't been here for a while, how about you talk about what you have been doing.
Vox looks around. Everyone is staring at him. He looks nervous. Destinee squeezes his hand reassuringly. He goes up to the front. He puts his hands behind his back. His hands are shaking. He is sweating.
Vox: Um, I've been staying at the hotel for a while. I have recently started dating Valentino.
Carmillia: And why isn't he here?
Vox freezes up.
Vox: He's....um....he's out doing...something.
Carmillia raises an eyebrow. Vox fidgets with his hands.
Carmillia: Carry on.
Vox : I've made amends with Alastor.
Carmillia: Oh, great, you are pathetic.
Vox tears up. He can't take it anymore. He runs out of the room. He goes into a corner and cries.
Alastor: Carmillia, what the hell was that?!
Carmillia: He deserved it. He was wasting our time. He shouldn't have even come here.
Destinee stands up and puts her hands on the table.
Destinee: You're wrong. He was right to come here. He is an overlord like all of you. He deserves to be respected, not belittled.
Carmillia: You don't have a say in this. You're not an overlord.
Destinee: That may be true, but at least I have morals.
Destinee goes to comfort Vox.
Alastor: I used to respect you, but not anymore.
Alastor walks out. Destinee finds Vox. He is crying.
Destinee: Vox?
Vox looks up at her. Destinee sits next to him. He clings to her.
Destinee: It's alright. I got you.
She rubs his back. Alastor finds them.
Alastor: Is he alright?
Destinee: No, he's having an anxiety attack.
Alastor puts his hand on Vox's back.
Alastor: You're going to be alright, Vox.
Vox shudders. He starts to calm down.
Destinee: Are you feeling better?
Vox: Yeah. Thanks.
Destinee: No problem.
Vox wipes his tears away. He moves away from her.
Alastor: You are good at comforting people, Destinee.
Destinee blushes and looks away.
Destinee: It's not a big deal.
Alastor smiles.
Alastor: We should go back to the hotel.
Destinee: Yeah.
Destinee helps Vox up. They go back to the hotel. Destinee knows she is in love with Alastor. She doesn't know how to tell him yet, but knows what she feels.
Vox: What are you thinking about, Destinee?
Destinee: Vox, I'm in love with Alastor.
Vox: That's amazing.
Destinee: Yeah, but I don't know how to tell him.
Vox: You we'll figure it out. You have to find the right moment.
Destinee: Yeah. Thanks for helping me with this, Vox.
Vox: Of course. You're helping me with my anxiety, this is the least I can do.
Destinee hugs him. Vox hugs back.
Destinee: Thank you for being such a good friend.
Vox: No, thank you. I wouldn't be able to leave the hotel if it wasn't for you. You have boosted my confidence.
Destinee smiles. Vox smiles back.
