You're a Jinx, Sunny

Prologue : Act I

If you're reading this on any other platform than AO3, this work has been stolen.

...

Sun gazed intently at the weird, glowing purple shards present on the desk. What were those? They looked pretty, and he was somehow drawn to them.

It was almost scary.

Vaguely familiar, like a distant blocked-out memory.

Sunrise heard Moon calling for him, Lunar's voice ringing soon after, "Someone's coming, we need to leave!"

Without a second thought, Sun scooped up all the shards he could manage to grab and shoved them in his bag. Sun ran back to the rest of the family. Earth and Lunar were already on the balcony, Moon stayed behind waiting for Sun.

"C'mon! Hurry!" Moon latched onto Sun and pulled him forward, a shard being knocked out of Sun's bag without any notice.

It hit the ground, not very lightly.

Fifteen seconds.

Sun made it onto the roof, adjusting his personal bag then turning back to pull Moon up.

Ten seconds.

The shard rolled across the tiled floor of the raided penthouse apartment, each impact with another object setting the place up for more violent destruction.

Five.

The Celestial Family had successfully dragged Moon up onto their somewhat safe area from the homeowners. They just needed to fish their bags of stolen, "borrowed" as Sun would say, goods from the balcony.

Four.

Moon seems to notice the mysterious shard rolling almost coming off as intimidating, it honestly looked explosive and powerful.

Three.

"Moon hurry!" Sun cried, holding on for dear life to his brother, who was pulling up the duffle bags.

Two.

The actual owner of the property had broke down the door, already suspicious that it was set like that. The man's eyes swept the main living space, eventually noticing the bright..too familiar...purple glow. It almost looked like the dangerous shards he was studying -

One.

The entire apartment detonated without much warning.

The man was lucky to be standing so close to the entrance, he was knocked back by the force of the explosion, missing most of the impact.

Now, Sun doesn't remember very well what had happened after that, just being tugged along by his siblings.

Then being chased, weapons swing at them, hurling through the air until they went under the city where they knew they were safe from the guards...and angry citizens.

Luckily they still had their stolen valuables...until they didn't. Some kids decided to pick a fight with the family, Sun didn't like to fight, so he was sent off to take the valuables elsewhere, and to hide.

Fuzzy memory. Gone. Threatened. Lost the treasure.

Holes in the entire story. Nothing was completed in their mind.

Who knows if it was tampered with-

"...But I'm right here."

...

(A/N)

Certainly an opening, a little insight for what is to come.

Let us rewind, shall we?

...

Present day

"It's Sun's fault, we shouldn't have taken him." Lunar shouted as he paced the room, clearly annoyed.

"Whoa, hey take it easy-" Moon defended. He was the only one who ever took Sun's side.

"No! Every time they come, they screw up and something goes wrong!"

"Lunar-"

Earth stayed silent. She knew better than to get involved with these kinds of fights.

The yelling continued, eyes shot towards the 'weakling' of the family. Always messing something up, one way or another.

Sun sat hidden on the bottom bunk of the bed, tinkering with some handmade projects. They never really worked all that well. He just wanted something to help Moon. To be like Moon. He looked up to him, a lot.

Moon had finally gotten Lunar to back off, and Earth followed the little blue bot out of the room to go see Sven. The animatronic creator that graciously took the Celestial Family in as his own. The door slammed behind the two, now only leaving the Celestial Twins in the room together.

Sun attempted to press himself into the corner of the bed, not wanting Moon to yell at him right now separately. It was too soon for that matter. Moon noticed the solar-themed animatronics' reluctance to be confronted as always, and he didn't want to push it.

Moon looked over at Sunrise, who was still hiding as best as he could. Moon couldn't really understand the others' anger towards him, sure there were times, but he always got over it.

Moon and Sun had always been the closest, they have been together even before their technically-found family came into the picture. This always reminded Earth and Lunar why Moon was so overprotective.

Moon glanced once more over at Sunrise, Moon wasn't mad, he couldn't be..he needed Sun, he couldn't get rid of him. Moon disregarded the previous thought and was about to open the door to follow the others when they came bursting back in first.

"It's Nexus! He...he took Sven!" Lunar shouted, out of breath from running. Earth moved past Moon to grab some gear, tossing it to Lunar. "We're going after him..." She stated, she wasn't taking an argument. "Are you coming?"

Moon nodded swiftly, "Yeah...yeah, let's go." He grabbed his primary equipment off the couch dashing towards the door, only to be met with his twin.

Sun looked down, clearly shy of trying to stick to Moon's side. He had a satchel that was clearly too big for them to carry, inside was all his homemade weapons and bombs.

Moon stared at them for a moment, then he shook his head. "Sun... Sunny, no, you....I don't want you to get hurt...you know how Nexus is with you.."

Sun was about to argue back, but was abruptly stopped by Moon holding him back physically. Instead, they watched as Moon pulled out an almost lightsaber-looking tube and placed it in Sun's hands.

"If anything happens, if Ruin or Dark Sun or...Nexus..finds you somehow, light this up to the sky, and I will stop at nothing to find you...okay? No matter how long I have to fight for...you will always be my number one priority...okay, Sunny?" He finished, tilting Sun's head up to look him in the eyes.

Sun stared at the flare for a moment, before nodding and backing away from the door.

Moon gave him one last nod. "I'll be quick. We'll be back soon, just sit tight." He ran out into the alleyway, following Earth and Lunar.

...

Yeah, this could work! Sun could actually help Moon! Sun had ended up following the rest of his siblings searching for Sven, who turned out to be locked up in Nexus' lab.

Sunrise watched carefully as Moon fought off anything Nexus threw at them, it was mesmerizing, Sun hoped they could be as good as Moon one day. Earth was working on their exit plan and Lunar was working on the circuitry to free Sven.

Sun watched from the roof of the lab, they had snuck in quite easily. They didn't really like heights...let alone hanging from the ceiling beams. Sun duct taped one of those funky shards to his homemade bomb...making it a real, functional explosive now.

They had certainly finished making sure it would go off, looking down, Moon was looking tired, Lunar was only half done with the breakout, and Earth was still attempting to find a easy, safe, and accessable exit.

Sun threw a quick prayer to whatever God who would be watching and tossed the little cat shaped detonator down onto the platform.

It only took a minute, it was perfectly timed. Sun was so happy, they couldn't wait to see Moon's reaction!

Sun waited outside the lab.

And waited.

Waiting.

...

The building burst into flames, despite the rain falling hard, there had been a reaction, though no indication of life anywhere. So when Moon finally trudged out, drenched in oil that wasn't his, Sun was overly relieved.

Didn't last long.

Sun took a swift punch to the face, his were used to this by now, Moon always has been...somewhat abusive, but not purposely, right? It was for his own good. Punishment builds character. Sun didn't bother to question it. Moon was is his brother.

"You are now responsible for single-handedly murdering everyone in that building. I told you not to be here. I-"

Moon looked down at his hand, the oil matching what was leaking down Sun's faceplate.

"I- Sunny.. you. I can't."

Sun froze. Moon only used that nickname when he was really happy with him....or unbelievably upset.

...

The rain poured heavily as the toxic smoke took any chance of even watching Moon walk away. All of Sun's remaining strength gave way, he collapsed to the ground. Moon had disappeared.

Sun screamed and cried, begging for Moon to come back. He couldn't be alone. He hated being alone.

He tried to drag themselves across the ground, away from the approaching tall, shadowy figure.

Whatever Sun was going through right now, it was worse than hyperventilating. He were shaking badly, thinking this was all their fault. Moon wasn't coming back, but not because he didn't want to.

"Sunrise, it's okay. Moon may have left..." The being moved to fully face Sun.

Revealing himself, Nexus kneels next to the Sun-themed animatronic.

"I won't leave you." Nexus tries, poking at the agitated and overwhelmed bot. Sun responded by tackling the larger bot to the ground, this didn't hurt Nexus much physically.

Sun was unaware of what had actually happened in the lab during the explosion. He were barely able to understand Moon screaming at them, but judging by the marks on Nexus, everyone seemed to be badly injured or....dead

Earth and Lunar....were...dead?

Moon left. Sun was alone.

He didn't even realize when Nexus placed a hand on their back, pulling them into a protective hug.

"It's okay."

Cue theme song!
