Chapter 1: You're a Vampire
Notes:
A snippet from chapter 15 that didn't make it in, unfortunately. I was too pleased with this joke to not post it somewhere.
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
As Shen Jiu set Shen Yuan on the bed, Shen Yuan got a glimpse of his skin. He would’ve flinched at the sight of his sparkling skin if his body would’ve allowed the movement. As it was, his body was still partially paralysed and didn’t let him flinch. The diamond-winged mantis-eater’s poison had made him sparkly like he was… oh. Oh.
“Jiu-Ge, Jiu-Ge,” Shen Yuan said urgently. “Er-Ge, LanLan.”
“What?!” Shen Jiu snapped, irritated but not at Shen Yuan, just at his condition.
“{I know what I am},” Shen Yuan intoned with mock seriousness.
After a drawn out heartbeat, Shen Jiu leaned in closer.
“{What are you}?” Shen Jiu played along, hiding his fretful manner over Shen Yuan's dying body.
“{A vampire},” Shen Yuan whispered ‘fearfully’.
Shen Jiu stared at Shen Yuan and Shen Yuan stared back at him. A snort left Shen Jiu as he cracked first. The two of them fell into howling laughter, all too pleased with their little joke.

Chapter 2: Planning for Forgiveness
Chapter Text
Wei QingWei was an idiot, he knew that. A genius at swords-smithing and capable of building any weapon from scratch. But, Social interactions? Political plots? Paperwork? No, he was below average. It didn't surprise him that he’d missed the fact that Shen QingQiu had been possessed by a different soul despite Hong Jing telling him different. It just reminded him that his master used to tell him to not rely so heavily on tools and aides to get through cultivation and life in general.
He’d been blind to this whole convoluted plot and would need to ask either Yin QingXian or Mu QingFang to explain it in terms he’d understand.
What Wei QingWei understood now, in this moment, was that he had a lot of grovelling to do before Shen Jiu and Shen Yuan.
He’d start by gathering materials that Shen Yuan might be attuned to in hopes of making him a sword. Gods, he hoped he be able to make a sword wonderful enough for the Shen brothers to forgive him.

Yin QingXian saw the drinks that Shen Yuan and Shang QingHua were drinking and something like dread fell to the pit of his stomach.
“Yin-Shidi?” Wei QingWei whispered to him.
“I—“ Yin QingXian had to take a shuddering breath to calm him. “I believe that I have far too much knowledge to be able to recreate that drink.”
Tian QingYou brightened at that. Well, the woman always did have a sweet tooth. Almost as bad as Shen-Shixiong’s. Er... Shen Jiu's.
“Later,” Yin QingXian warned her.
“Too much knowledge?” Qi QingQi frowned at him.
“Too much,” Yin QingXian nodded in agreement.
The others in the mirror were still talking, something about memory suppression and novels and Yin QingXian hated the fact that he could keep up and understand what the two otherworlders were saying.

Chapter 4: just messing
Summary:
Set during end of chapter 15 and start of chapter 16.
Notes:
This is just a bit of insight into how my mind plays out scenes for stories before actually putting it into words. Sometimes, I just replay the action sequence and where everyone is in relation to each other before putting words in their mouth.
And sometimes it leads me to imagining silly situations like this. I hope you enjoy this silly little snippet
Chapter Text
In the background, Shen Jiu and Liu QingGe were going through the motions of their to-be fight scene, making sure they wouldn’t accidentally hurt each other in the upcoming scene. The author was still puzzling out what Shen Yuan and Shang QingHua were going to say to each other that sounded like their characters. Even though they were just background characters in this scene, Shen Jiu and Liu QingGe decided to practice going through the motions.
Shen Yuan was bored, waiting for the lines to be given to him and ready to snap at the author if she gave him a sentence he’d never say. Shang QingHua was the same, munching on some melon seeds he’d managed to conjure in the mirror-scape. He offered some to Shen Yuan but the younger transmigrator declined.
For a moment, Shen Yuan stared at Shang QingHua with slightly squinted eyes. His friend made a questioning sound, but didn’t get a real response until;
“{Sweet~ Carol~ine},” Shen Yuan sang softly.
“BAM BAM BAM!” Shang QingHua belted out like a knee-jerk reaction.
The loud noise from Shang QingHua caused Shen QingQiu and Liu QingGe to fumble their moves.
“YUAN’ER!” Shen QingQiu bellowed, immediately knowing who was the cause of such a loud noise (even if it was indirectly).
“Was just checking!” Shen Yuan yelled back.
Shang QingHua was a little flushed from embarrassment and Liu QingGe was just staring at the two of them like they were crazy.
