Chapter Text

Moja comes stomping in through the teleporter like a woman on a mission. At the same time, her sister and what is apparently the younger version of her father return from the balcony. The rest of their extended family is sitting around the common area, playing some videogame Moja has never even heard of.

“Hey, sis.”

“Don’t ‘Hey, sis.’ me! What the hell is this?!”

“Family reunion?”

“Yi-.”

“Check it out, dudes!” Mikey called at his own siblings. “I’ve got more of them!”

Raphael choked on his drink. Leonardo looked like he was ageing ten years. Donatello waved at the newcomer as Master Splinter face lit up at the prospect of more grandchildren. “Hi Aunt Moja!” Cody called, the only one in the room who paid the sisters no mind.

Moja returned both Cody and Don’s greetings before her attention returned to her sister. “Explain.”

“Can it wait until we get in contact with Uno and Odyn? I’d rather not have to explain this twice.”

“No.”

“There’s more of them?!” Raph shouted in exasperation. Leo continued to look shaken as Don and Mikey snickered at their brothers’ reaction.

“Maybe we should talk in private,” Yi whispered to her sister. “These guys argue more than we do. We’ll never get anywhere with them.”

Moja relented as she followed the other she-turtle. Shouting followed them as the sisters left the room.

“So can you tell me now what’s going on?” the older sister asked as soon as they were alone. “How is pops here?”

“You know that secret project me and Cody have been working on?”

“The one we’re not allowed to let Uno know about?” Yi nodded. “Yeah? What about it?”

“It malfunctioned today. And jumped them a hundred years into the future.”

“Is everyone alright?”

“Mostly. There was a brief scare with Mikey going missing for a few hours but everyone’s fine.”

“I’m sorry. What?”

“He’s fine.”

“He went missing!”

“Look, you and I are still here. If the timeline was actually messed with, we wouldn’t be having this conversation right now.”

Moja sighs as she concedes. “So how old are they?”

“Yeah, that leads me to our bigger issue. We have to be very, very careful with what we tell them. Any slip up or bit of information could cause irreparable damage.”

“Then…how do we go about this?”

“We can’t tell them anything concrete. They can know about our current lives, but anything in between their time and now isn’t safe to discuss.”

“Do you even know when they were taken from?”

“Mikey was telling me-.” Yi paused as she took in her sister’s expression. “What?”

“You keep calling pops ‘Mikey’.”

“He isn’t our dad yet, Moja. And well…it just doesn’t feel right.”

Moja’s face dropped. It had been years since their pops’ death. Time lessened, but never fully alleviated the pain.

“Right. So anyways Mikey and I were talking earlier. He was telling me about how he’s the Battle Nexus Champion and about Aunt Don’s mutation. So that puts them somewhere in 2006. They’re probably like seventeen. Eighteen at the oldest.”

“Do they know about the Tribunal?”

“He didn’t mention. But if it is 2006 and Aunt Don clearly isn’t a turtle monster,” Moja snorted, “then I think it’s safe to say they know. But maybe, don’t mention it, to be on the safe side. Unless one of them brings it up.”

Moja nodded before something her sister said finally caught her attention. “You keep calling Aunt Don well Aunt Don.”

“Yeah, what of it?”

“Does she know she’s a she? Or Aunt El? Or, fuck, even dad?”

Yi froze at the question. “Oh my god, none of them know.”

“We are fucked.”

Yi agreed. “Welp we are lucky Au-Don at least kept her name. And I suppose El can be interpreted as a nickname for Raphel.”

“And Mikey?”

“We just keep calling him he. There’s not much we can do.”

“I hate this.”

“I know.” Yi crossed the room to pull her sister into a hug. “But we can’t interfere. Even on this.”

Moja sighed through her nose. “Ok. Is there anything else we need to know?”

“The turtle museum is probably out of the question.”

“Cody’s memorabilia doesn’t count?”

“…”

“…”

“…I’ll talk to Cody.”

Moja cackled. Still grinning, the older asked, “So how pissed do you think Uno’s gonna be when he finds out about all this?”

Yi groaned. “I don’t even want to think about thinking about it, Mo. I can already hear his know-it-all-voice.”

Moja cackles again. Hearing her sister’s laughter breaks Yi, who starts laughing too. When they finally calm down, the older sister pulls the younger close and lightly bumps her head. “We’ll figure it out together. For now, let’s just get to know the family we always wished to meet and spend more time with someone we never thought we’d see again.”

Yi nuzzles her sister’s snout. “I can agree to that.” She nudges her head in the direction of the common area. “Well, do we want to go face the music?”

Moja pulls apart and heads to the door. As it slides open, the older turtle bows, saying, “After you, sister dear.”

“Oh, no, no,” Yi says teasingly. “Age before beauty, darling.”

“I insist.”

“So do I.”

Looking up, Moja holds her hand out. “Together?” Yi hooks their arms together. “Together.”

The walk back was quiet. So was the room they were heading to. Strange. The sisters’ good mood evaporated upon seeing the figure speaking with Cody.

“Darius.”

Cody and his uncle turned to the sisters. They and Sterling were the only ones in the room. Where had the others gone?

“Ah, ladies. Good evening. How were your days?”

“It was going fine until you showed up,” Moja muttered. Yi elbowed her sister as she addressed the man. “Well. And yourself?”

“I was having a splendid day until I got Sterling’s call. What’s this I hear you went on a joyride with my nephew?”

Moja bit her tongue to keep herself from snapping as she let her sister answer. “You must have misunderstood. I decided to take our,” she all but growled, “nephew on a daytrip.”

Darius hummed. “And that is wise to you? There are quite dangerous beings out there.” He wrapped his arm around Cody. “We wouldn’t want anything to happen to the boy.”

Moja couldn’t stop the growl this time. When CJ first introduced Sunita, it was very apparent that the girl didn’t have a good relationship with her family. She especially had a poor relationship with her brother. She had made it abundantly if anything should happen to her and her husband, that she wanted the Splinterson siblings to raise their son.

It had been a grueling battle for custody, and Yi ultimately had to bargain some of her shares in O’Neil Tech, but it was worth it. Cody would always be worth it.

“With all due respect Uncle Darius,” Cody placated. “I’ve been Aunt Yi and Moja’s care for fourteen years. I’m perfectly safe. Come on. I’ll walk you out. We can talk about some of the new projects I’ve been working on.”

The sisters watched their nephew walk off with his uncle. When they turned back around, the four turtles and elderly rat were once again in their line of sight, as if they had been there the whole time.

“Who was that gem?” Raph asked.

“Cody’s uncle.”

“So what’s his deal?” Leo asked. “You don’t seem to get along.”

“We don’t,” Moja growled again as Yi added, “He’s a snake. Always has been. We just can’t prove it.”

Splinter looked in the direction of the two humans. “And you don’t want Cody to get involved?”

The sisters nodded. “He’s the only thing we have left of his parents,” Yi said sadly. “CJ was our little brother. Suni was such a wonderful, bright human being. We would do anything for that boy.”
Splinter nodded in understanding. He was a father. He would do anything he could to keep his sons safe too.

“Well enough about that scumbag.” Moja snorted at her sister’s change in mood. Yi flung her arm around the older turtle. “Everyone, I would like to formerly introduce you to my darling older sister, Moja!”

“Sup.”

“How many of them are you?” Donnie asked from his spot on the couch. “You mentioned you didn’t want to have to explain this twice?”

“There’s four of us.”

“Of course there is.”

Both sisters snorted. “Unfortunately, Uno and Odyn are off world right now. We’re going to have to wait until tomorrow to tell Odyn, but there’s no telling when we’ll be able to get in contact with Uno.”

Donatello blinked before turning towards his younger brother. “You named all four of your kids ‘one’?”

“We’re all named after Renaissance artists, dude.”

Leo chose to ignore his brothers as they continued to bicker. “How safe are we in your time?”

None of you have to hide, if that’s what you’re asking,” Yi answered. “I’m sure you all saw various lifeforms during our little adventure.”

“There’s probably a lot of folks around here funnier looking than us,” Moja teased, which earned her a shove from Yi. “Be nice.”

“It’s true though. You know it’s true.”

“What about our weapons?” Raph asked. “Safe or not, I’d feel better with a blade.”

“We can whip something up in the lab tomorrow. For now, I say we celebrate.” Moja was already pulling out her holo-phone. Pizza sounded good right about now. As she was about to punch in a number, a message popped up on the screen.

Moja looked up at the turtles and rat before her. She grins as she texts them back.

Moja made it home to her dinky little apartment around nine thirty in the morning the next day. As promised, two whole boxes of pizza had accompanied her home.

Cody and Yi had taken the rest of their family to O’Neil Tech as they speak to make new weapons. The older turtle didn’t need to be there. Certainly not when she had pizza to deliver and start getting ready for work.

One of her roommates, Alopex, was curled up on the couch, the TV still on. Y’Gythgba was nowhere to be found. “Hey sleepyhead, up and at um,” she whispered in the fox’s ear.

“Ugh five more minutes.”

“If you don’t get up now, me and Gyth are gonna eat all the pizza I brought home.” Quick as a flash, the fox was on his feet and rushing off towards the kitchen. Moja grabbed his arm as he moved past her. “You know where xe are?”

As Al was about to respond, the two roommates heard the front door open. They watched as the Salamandrian walked into the room, Pepperoni, on a leash in xir arms. They continued to watch as xe placed the Protoceratops on the countertop, grabbed two slices, and started to feed the extra to the little dinosaur. “Morning. Explain.”

Straight to the point as always, Moja thought with a smirk and a shake of her head as Al moved closer to kiss his partner and got a pot going.

Twenty minutes later, Y’Gythgba and Alopex sat in silence as their boss and friend continued to sip her coffee and pet her baby.

“So…” Al broke first. “How does it feel to have a dad fifty years your junior?”

Moja flipped him off.

“What do you intend to do?” the Salamandrian asked.

“Yi, Cody, and Don are going to try and get the time window operational again. We just have to deal in the meantime.”

“Do we get to meet them?” the fox asked as he grabbed a third slice.

“Of course you’re fucking meeting them! You’re my family too.”

Al grinned widely as Y’Gythgba’s face lit up at the comment.

It was of course at this point everything went to shit. Moja’s holo started blaring metal from the speakers, startling everyone in the room.

“Boss, I beg you to please reconsider changing that ringtone,” Y’Gythgba growled. Moja waived xir off. “Yi, I swear-.”

“Cody’s been kidnapped.”

Notes:

God, I had to do math for this one.
I've been thinking in my head that Yi, Moja, and their brothers are somewhere in their twenties/thirties, even though it doesn't make sense.
They're in their sixties if my math is correct.
