Buck is waiting in his car outside Eddie's house, then he sees a girl sneaking out of his window.
He waits.
Eddie is not a morning guy, and he knows how to drive-better than Buck-but for some reason, he wakes up earlier so he can go to school with Buck, his best friend. Maybe there's something about their relationship that makes him feel different, maybe he likes Buck, or maybe he just likes being a passenger princess.
''I saw a girl, what happened to no distractions before the nationals? Ripping off the band-aid and all that'' Buck asks, looking at Eddie
Eddie scoffs ''I decided that showing up to college a virgin is a mistake. No offense''
Buck stays silent because the fact that Eddie thinks that he is a virgin is funny, and also he spirals thinking of Eddie with that girl.
When they are on their way to school, Eddie sees a sign with ''We're proud of our boys Baseball-jackets''
''What the hell is this bullshit?'' Eddie says indigned
''What?'' Buck tries to read what the sign tells without taking his view outta the road
''These assholes played horrible last season, Buck honk at that shit!'' Eddie says as he manages to honk without Buck stopping him
''No, they will think we're celebrating their mediocre baseball team'' Buck says while he laughs
''No, they won't''
Buck knows Eddie is gonna do something dumb, but instead of stopping him, he just looks at him with heart eyes.
''Undefeated bitches, we're going to fucking nationals!!'' Eddie says with half of his body outside he window car
''That was fun'' Buck says
''Now that you like fun things, maybe you should come to tonight's party''
''I don't know,'' says Buck
''It'll be fun, it'll help us relax before the nationals''
Buck thought that party was for assholes that didn't have anything to do, but there he was, in his room with Eddie laying down in his superman bedsheets, getting ready to go to that dumb party.
Eddie looks at Buck ''Y'know, Tommy is gonna be at the party tonight''
Buck wasn't paying attention to him because he was deciding what jacket he should wear, but he managed to understand what Eddie meant
''Umm.. okay'' He says indifferent
''He asked me if you were gonna be there,'' Eddie says with a flirtatious tone in his voice
That just upsets Buck even more ''Tommy, really?'' he says almost like they were talking about dog poop or some kind of radioactive substance
''What? I just thought you would've wanted to know somebody asked about you'' he says as he sits in Buck's bed ''Wear the leather jackets that I gave you, the womanizer jacket''
''Maybe I don't wanna wear the leather jacket, and I'm sure as hell I don't wanna hook up with Tommy fucking Kinard'' Buck yells
Eddie scoffs, he hasn't seen Buck like this since he was yelling about how a teachergave him a B, ''Jesus, what crawled up your ass? Wear whatever you want, Buck''
''Thanks, I will''
Buck likes that leather jacket -the womanizer jacket- but the problem isn't the jacket, the problem is that it reminds him of Eddie, it smells like him, and probably also smells like all the girls he's kissed.
Then there they are, at a party where he doesn't wanna be, and Eddie is hugging some random girl
Buck doesn't want to be obvious, but he is leaning on a car with his eyes landing on Eddie.
He thought that maybe that night he could relax and forget about Eddie and maybe hook up with someone that aren't Eddie's girlfriends or love interest. But when he was considering being a party boy, he heard his teammates Tai and Nat fighting.
Then, Eddie came ''Yellowjackets! With me''
Eddie was the captain of the team, and he was tired of dealing with their problems, but he was always there to help
''I don't know what the fuck that was, but I do know that it's over'' He says looking at his teammates ''We're about to go to nationals, and based at what I'm seeing right now we might not even get on that plane''
The team looks at each other, Buck doesn't know how but they always listen to Eddie, even if he says the weirdest shit
''Now you're going to line up and say a good thing about everyone''
When it was Buck's turn, he avoided meeting Eddie's gaze
''Are- are we cool?'' Asks Eddie
''I don't know, you haven't said anything good about me yet.'' Buck smiles
''You're the best friend I've ever had.'' Eddie's lying, Buck is not his best friend, well technically he is, but he wishes he could be more ''You know that right?''
Buck's heart falls when he hears that, and he only manages to say '' Yeah, I know, you're my best friend too'' He lied; Eddie is his best friend, but he thinks he doesn't deserve being Eddie's, not after all that he's done to him.
Buck wasn't scared of airplanes, well, maybe he was, a little, but thankfully, he was next to Eddie.
He was starting to spiral before the plane didn't even take off, so Eddie, as always, was there to protect him
''Remember when you came to Texas with us in second grade, and you cried the whole flight?'' Eddie scoffs
Buck smiles. He remembers that
Buck sees Eddie taking some kind of pills ''Here. I took them from my mom's medicine cabinet, Valium.''
Buck smiles again, he's so lucky to have Eddie and he-
''I know, I'm basically the best,'' Eddie says while Buck's swallowing the pills
''And here, it's a good luck charm'' Eddie gave him a heart necklace ''Now nothing can touch you''
Buck can't remember what happened after that, but he remembers that he was sleepy.
Maybe because of the pills that Eddie gave him, or maybe because he was up last night thinking about Eddie, journaling, and also thinking about how he f-cked all the girls that Eddie liked, he's such a bad best friend.
Suddenly, the plane is on fire, and Eddie is trying to get Buck out, but he's not conscious.
Eddie is on top of Buck, yelling at him
''Buck! Buck! Get the fuck up'' while shaking Buck
Buck wakes up and all he sees is Eddie and fire, and some of her teammates running out of the plane
He can't say anything, he just watches Eddie
Eddie drags him out of his seat because there's fire under Buck's legs.
''Buck, we gotta go, we gotta go.'' Eddie tries to take Buck out of the plane, ignoring his friend Ravi, who is trapped in the seat, asking for his help.
But Buck wanted to help Ravi, because he was his friend
Eddie stood behind Buck while he was helping Ravi, but he couldn't let Buck be there for much longer, and Ravi was pretty stuck, he couldn't let the guy he loved die
''Buck!'' Ravi yells before Eddie completely took him out of the plane
Buck falls with Eddie to the floor, and all he sees is fire, his teammates injured, and trees, only trees.
Buck yells ''We have to go back for Ravi'' Eddie stops him, and after that, the lower half of the plane explodes.
Buck is angry. Why did Eddie drag him out of there? He could've saved Ravi
''Buck, please'' Eddie says while grabbing Buck's arm ''There's nothing we could do''
Buck was going to say something but he sees Coach Ben badly hurt, and then Ravi appears, with blood on his face
Buck smiles out of relief
''Surprise'' Says Ravi while his teammates are hugging him
Buck hugs Ravi and lets Eddie alone, maybe he was being a little harsh with him, but it didn't feel right to do that
''I think Ravi is angry at me'' Eddie says
Buck thinks it's obvious and that Ravi should be angry at Eddie, but he tells him otherwise ''Just give him a little time''
''For the record, I was trying to save you, don't be angry at me.'' Eddie smiles ''I think that was really romantic''
Buck rolls his eyes ''Maybe if you stopped flirting with everyone and helped with the disaster, it would be great''
''Imagine if they never find us, maybe we'll end up being boyfriends or something like that'' Eddie laughs
''Shut up'' Buck says
''Well, I mean it's not that impossible, you're hot, I'm hot, and also all our teammates are gay, it's not like I'm gonna hook up with Van''
Buck thinks that is true. Van is with Taissa, Misty is not gay, or maybe she is, but she's kinda obsessed with Coach Ben (and Nat), and Nat is in a weir relationship with Lottie, but that doesn't mean that they'll have to end up together
''Yeah, but you're not gay, and last time I checked, you have to be gay to hook up with a guy. Also, stop saying that we're going to stay here. They should've come for us by now, what if they never come?''
''Hey, calm down, they're probably coming for us, don't worry''
