Work Text:
"I don't want you to have this baby," Ross told her. "Rachel, there are solutions to this that would make us both happy."
"What do you mean, solutions?"
"I mean, you could do what's right, and get an abortion," he suggested. "You can't be that far along."
"Ross! I don't want an abortion," she informed him. "I don't care if you're involved or not, but this is my baby, and I want to keep them."
"Well, then, what about an adoption? You won't have to worry about all those sleepless nights if someone else has the baby!"
"I said no," she said firmly. "Ross, why do you think that you get a say in this? I'm the one who's pregnant, not you." She crossed her arms. "If I had known you were going to react so negatively to this entire thing, I would have just taking Joey up on his offer to marry me and act as the baby's father." She shook her head. "Maybe I should see if he still wants to."
"Would that get me off the hook?"
"Are you serious? Is that all you care about?"
"Yeah, Rach, I mean, the sex was a mistake, and so is your baby. I already have to deal with the consequences of one mistake, why on earth would I want to make it two?"
"I had no idea that you felt so poorly about Ben," Rachel spat. "Why didn't you have this discussion with Carol?"
"Because, Rach, I thought that by encouraging her to keep the baby, she'd want to work on our marriage. Instead she persisted in that weird relationship with Susan. I won't make that mistake again. We're not even in a relationship! Why would I want to fake one because I bought a defective condom? Let Joey."
"Forgive me for thinking that you might be upset if I didn't tell you that I was pregnant with you child!" She exclaimed. Rachel knew that if she'd kept this from Ross, when he'd discovered it, he'd have made it everyone else's problem. It was ridiculous for him to portray anything otherwise. "Ross, if I hadn't told you, you would have made everyone's lives miserable when you inevitably found out," she snapped. "Don't even try to play like you're innocent. We both know the truth."
"And we both know that Joey will be a better dad. Pick him, not me."
