People do stupid things when they're drunk, right? You know, have sex, confess feelings, that sort of stuff. I guess what I did could be put under that category. I feel so incredibly… idiotic? Is that how I feel? I don't even know anymore.
What did I do? Well… I don't want to go into depth right now. Let's just see what happened leading up to me being drunk in the first place.
Alana’s Halloween party is coming up. I'm panicking. It completely slipped my mind that I would need to find a costume. In the end, I ask my mom about it at the last minute.
“Hey? Do we have any Halloween costumes?”
My mom turns to me, curious. “Why do you ask, honey?”
“I… got invited to a Halloween party.”
“That's good. I see you're finally putting yourself out there!”
“I guess I am.” I haven't even told her, or Dr. Sherman for that matter, that I've found a friend in Connor Murphy. It's still crazy to me. The school's public enemy number one - my friend.
“If you're going to this party, just make sure you don't do anything irresponsible.”
“I won't.” Really kept that promise, Evan.
“Good.” My mom disappears to look for something for me to wear.
It seems this party is going to be the highlight of my senior year. That's one way to put it… Highlight. Sure.
My mom eventually returns with a cheap vampire costume, probably from a dollar store.
“Thanks,” I say as I take it from her.
The party is next night. The one thing I'm looking forward to. I regret looking forward to it now… It was a waste of excitement.
