I've been this way (I want to change)

Chapter Text

Arriving at the entrance Oliver took a deep breath trying to calm himself just enough that he wouldn't immediately raise his voice before approaching his little sister, who just happened to still be arguing with the unlucky bouncer of the night,

“Thea…what are you doing here?” Oliver questions despite knowing the answer as Diggle positions himself beside Mr Queen.

“Olieeee! These bouncers you hired are idiots! They won't let me in! Do they not know who I am?” Thea sang, already showing signs of being past tipsy.

“They're not letting you in because I explicitly told them not to” Oliver sterns “You seriously think I'm going to let my sister get underage drunk in my brand new club?”

“But Ollieeeee I just want to show my support” Thea begged, giving puppy dog eyes that always used to work on Oliver when she was young, when it was as simple as wanting more ice cream or to be pushed on the swings. Oliver had changed - Thea had too and her younger sister's charm wasn't what it used to be.

“No, Thea” Oliver pulled out his phone and called for the driver who brought her to come back “We are staying right here until Joseph comes back to get you. And you WILL go home” His voice is very stern and leaves no room for negociation.

“Fine. I bet your clubs loads of shit anyway” Thea snorted, shaking a little as it wasn’t the warmest of nights and she hadn’t exactly left the house wearing much, nievely expecting a party.

Oliver sighed and took off his jacket, throwing it around his sisters shoulders “How about remembering a jacket next time you want to sneak into my club?” Oliver attempted to tease, the humor not quite reaching Thea but appreciating the warm jacket all the same.

“Y’know you don’t have to wait here with me? Im not a child I dont need babysitting” Thea whined, to that Oliver just chuckled.

“Well for one Thea, you are still a child in the eyes of the law whether you like it or not. And two - even adults need babysitting sometime” He grinned, nudging Dig with his elbow making a jab at the first thing he’d said when he met bodyguard John Diggle for the first time.

Thea laughs “Yeah I forgot that's what you said! Seems you quite like being babysat now Ollie!” She teased as Joshua pulled back up in the Rolls Royce, throwing Oliver's jacket back at him.

Oliver was grateful for the cold as he felt a small blush roll over his cheeks. He couldn’t really feel the cold anymore but that didn’t mean he couldn't have a wind-chilled face. Dig stood beside him as he shrugged his jacket back on and waved his sister off, finding himself wishing he could just stay out here the rest of the night on door duty.

“Youre a good brother man, from one big brother to another”. Dig spurs, his hand coming to rest on Oliver's left shoulder as both men allow themselves a little more breathing time from the party that continues inside.

“Thanks Dig, I just hope one day Thea believes that too” Oliver mumbles, staying quiet for just a moment longer before shaking his head back to reality.

Oliver points back into the club “We should probably get back in there, considering I just insisted on being Tommy's personal bartender for the night”

Dig gives a short nod before letting Oliver lead the way, Oliver casing his exists and threats, Dig surveying Oliver finding him calmer than before Thea's surprise visit.
