It Feels Like an Eternity

Summary:

For a thousand years Pixlriffs has traveled and sometimes settled down, but this time is different. He's finally home with the people who left him centuries ago.

Notes:

This is a rewrite of my one-shot "My Atlantis" from almost three years ago. This is going to be a multi-chapter fic where the last chapter will be posted on the anniversary of "My Atlantis". I hope you all enjoy it.

Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Chapter Text

Within a cold dark room somewhere where the sun can't reach, the ruler of Pixandria awoke.

Pixlriffs groans before he blinks his eyes open. The darkness filling up his sight made him think he might be still asleep.

Just then a sharp pain shot through his arms making them sore, strained, and strangely numb.

He looks up to find his wrists shackled above his head and he is being held up by a chain that connects his shackles to the wall behind him.

Which makes him look down, and through the darkness he sees that he has to be at least a foot above the ground.

He figures he must have been here for hours now with how numb his arms are with strain and pain.

But who did this?

“Well, well, well.”

At the voice, Pixlriffs looks over and through the darkness.

This man in front of him has long magenta hair and matching eyes. He wears a buttoned white shirt, black pants, and brown shoes. Within his hair he has a wither rose.

He smiles towards Pixlriffs. “Nice to see you're finally awake King Pixlriffs.”

Pixlriffs looks over the man with suspension. “Who are you?”

The man smiles softly and a bit sadly as he takes out the wither rose. “You wouldn't know me. No one really knows me… unfortunately.” He sets the wither rose down into a vase so gently like he is handling something precious. “My name is Seth.”

Pixlriffs’ suspension gaze softens, but doesn't really go away. “Seth?”

Seth nods as he gently tends for the wither rose. “Yes, Seth. I’m the original heir of Riverdale.”

Pixlriffs' eyes widened. “You’re Scott’s brother?”

Seth turns to look at Pixlriffs finally. “Yes. I’m his elder twin brother.”

Pixlriffs looks at Seth with shaking pupils. “Where am I? What is this place?”

Seth pours out some tea into a cup before picking it up and walking over to Pixlriffs. “You're in an ancient trail ruin.”

Pixlriffs raises an eyebrow. “A what?”

Seth raises the tea cup and Pixlriffs allows him to feed him the tea. “An ancient trail ruin. They're home to traps and treasures, and no one that they exist.”

Pixlriffs drinks the tea, but chokes on the last bit of it. “No one knows that they exist?! Why am I here?! What do you want?!”

Seth flinches a bit at that before walking back to the table to set the cup back down. “I want to protect you.”

“From what?!” Pixlriffs questions beginning more scared and suspicious by the second.

Seth looks at Pixlriffs, his own pupils shaking now. “From him.”

Pixlriffs' eyes soften already knowing the him Seth is talking about. “Xornoth?”

Seth nods. “He’s going too far. He’ll hurt you along with everyone else.”

Pixlriffs tries to move closer, but the shackles prevent him from moving too much. “The others! They're in danger! You have to protect them too!”

Seth shakes his head. “I can't.” He walks to the wither rose and gently takes it into his hand. “I only have enough mental power to protect one.”

Pixlriffs frowns, getting frustrated. “Why?! Why me?!”

Seth looks at Pixlriffs before turning and walking out of the room leaving Pixlriffs back in the darkness.

Chapter 2: Chapter 2

Chapter Text

What drew Pix to this place was the beautiful statue that stood upon an ancient cathedral.

While looking in and around the ruins of what he guesses was once a beautiful empire he fell in love.

Deciding that this was going to be where he set up camp for the next century or so.

After setting up his tent, and placing everything inside, he started on making sure he had food ready.

Pix made sure to find a lot of wheat seeds, and planted them. He would have a wheat farm in no time.

While tending to the wheat farm that had grown tremendously for the past few days, Pix heard a cry for help.

“AHHHHH HELP!!”

Pix tenses up while his mind races. That voice, it couldn't be, but then why does it sound like-

“STAY AWAY FROM ME!!”

Pix quickly dropped everything he was doing and ran towards the scared voice.

Whether or not if Pix was finally losing it after a thousand years someone was in trouble, and he made a promise to never stand aside when someone needed help.

Pix runs over to see two men standing over who he guesses was the one who screamed for help.

He narrows his eyes and pulls out his rune sword to point it at the men. “Leave them alone.”

They looked up ready to tell Pix off, but as soon as they saw the blade their eyes widened, and ran away.

Pix sighs before putting his rune blade away, and walks up to the one on the ground. “Hey, you alri-”

His breath caught in his throat as soon as they turned around.

Their ginger hair rests comfortably around their neck and on their shoulders, the once bloody brown eyes were now an icy blue but still recognizable. The only thing that made Pix do a double take was they were half his size, pointed ears, and green.

He smiles mischiefly, but is grateful. “Thanks for the save. I’m fWhip.”

Pix had to quickly regain his breath. “I’m Pix L Riffs.” It was fWhip, not fWhip from a thousand years ago, but it was him.

fWhip stands up dusting off his clothes. “Nice meeting ya. Maybe I'll see you around some time.” He then walks away heading to what Pix is guessing is his home.

Pix watches him walk away gulping. “Yeah… see ya.”

Chapter 3: Chapter 3

Chapter Text

Pixlriffs figures it's been days now. He's been calculating with how many times Seth has been there.

Seth always shows up saying one of three things; breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

So Pixlriffs has come to the conclusion once it's the third time when Seth is saying dinner it's been a whole day.

With that he can say with confidence it's been a whole week.

A whole week?!

He can't take this anymore. He wants out. He wants to see his friends. They must be so worried.

Waking up is always a strange feeling as he’s in a punctuated state of darkness within the ancient ruins.

Pixlriffs looks up as the door opens and Seth walks back in.

“Breakfast.”

Pixlriffs doesn't move, he just allows Seth to feed him like always.

It was only when Seth was cleaning up and watering the wither rose when Pixlriffs spoke up.

“You never answered my question.”

Seth tenses up before relaxing. “What question again?”

Pixlriffs frowns. “You said you only have enough mental power to protect one, so why me?”

Seth turns around to smile softly at him. “You may not believe now, but you're more important and powerful than you know.”

Pixlriffs shakes his head. “I'm only human. Just a human.”

Seth turns back around to the wither rose. “A powerful human. Which puts you in danger. You have to stay here. I'm sorry.” He then walks to leave. “I’ll be back later.”

Pixlriffs struggles. “Wait Seth! Don't leave! Please! Don't leave me all alone!”

Chapter 4: Chapter 4

Chapter Text

Pix has settled into a very easy and peaceful life within the ruins. He even started to clean them up and start a reservation project for the whole place.

Once he is done the place will look as good as before it fell.

Pix was just working when a bird showed up crashing into the ground.

He flinched before walking to the bird and picking it up. “Are you okay?”

The bird shakes itself showing how it was okay before giving Pix a letter and flying off.

Pix was baffled by the actions of the bird, but decided not to question it and opened up the letter.

Dear friend,

I have recently discovered that below my empire there is a portal to the End dimension, but it is in fact already opened.

I am cordially inviting you to join me in entering the portal to take down the dragon, and possibly looting the outer lands.

If you wish to join please come to the Goblin Empire tomorrow evening, and bring supplies.

Sincerely,

Head Goblin fWhip

Pix blinks at the letter surprisingly.

He had only met this fWhip once, and he is already invited on entering the End with him.

Pix laughs. “Oh fWhip. Never change.”

Pix was back home after the End adventure. So much happened.

He met all the reincarnations of his friends minus Pearl. He was kinda uncanny seeing so many familiar faces, but none of them being the people he knows.

Examples:

Joel. He knew him as King Joel of Mezalea. He is now Joel, God of Sky, Prophecies, and History.

Jimmy. He knew him as the Codfather. He is now Sheriff Jimmy of Tumble Town.

And Scott… he was once the King of Rivendale, and now… he's the mayor of Cromina.

Scott…

Pix shakes his head after a blush formed on his cheeks.

He will have to keep reminding himself that these are not the people he once knew anymore.

The actual adventure itself was… interesting.

The dragon has already been taken care of, so many just went back home. Pix ended up joining the new Sausage and Joey- Pirate Joe in looting the End Cities.

It was fun, and he got to learn more about the new people that his once friends were now.

Then Sausage fell out of the End.

Pix being the man that he is, gathers up Sausage’s stuff and returns home instead of wandering around to find Sanctuary.

“Pix.”

He turned around to see the every smiling, even now, face of one Mythical J Sausage. Never did find out what the J standed for.

Pix smiles back. “Hey Sausage.” He motions over to a chest he settled up to hold Sausage’s stuff. “Your stuff is right here.”

Sausage brightens up even more, if that possible, and runs over to the chest. “Oh mi amigo. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

Pix chuckles admitting he missed Sausage's Spanish after so many centuries before realizing. “Hey Sausage, where did you know where to go to find me?”

Sausage hums as he picks up his axe before resting it on his shoulder as he turns to look at Pix. “Oh fWhip informed of where you settled up at. Really nice guy,” he giggles, “goblin. The same goes to you. Thanks for collecting my stuff for me.”

Pix rubs the back of his neck. “It was nothing. An old friend would have wanted me to do it.”

Sausage continues to smile. “Well thank you anyway. I do truly appreciate it, and I'm sure your friend would be proud of you. Here,” he says, taking out a map and hands it to Pix. “Take this map I found on the way here as a thank you.”

Pix takes the map. “Sure. See ya around?”

Sausage nods as he closes the chest. “Oh definitely. You and I are friends now after all.” He waves goodbye as he leaves.

Pix waves back as well as he smiles. “Friends.”

Chapter 5: Chapter 5

Chapter Text

Pixlriffs had started to get worried. It's been days now, right? And there has been no sign of Seth.

Without the man coming down to feed him and check on him the days and time began to blend in together.

He can't tell how long it has been anymore.

His eyes have adjusted to the darkness, and now he can see all around him.

Nearby is a suit of armour that can be useful. He’ll definitely make note of that in case he needs it.

Pixlriffs decided to wait a bit more, but he's starting to get worried.

What happened to Seth?

Chapter 6: Chapter 6

Chapter Text

Pix at the moment was looking through his enchanted books deciding which ones were suitable for his enchanting set up.

He put his decided book into the shelves when a voice spook him.

“Morning.”

It was completely unexpected.

He quickly turned around to see who it was.

Right there. Ginger hair shimmering in the sunlight, green eyes shining like emeralds, and her skin is like it was blessed by the sun itself.

It was obvious who this was: one Gemini Tay.

He laughs nervously. “Oh hey.”

She smiles and looks around. “Lovely place you got here. It's very nice.”

He looks around with her. “Thank you.”

She then curtsies while introducing herself. “I'm Princess Gemini Tay of the Kingdom of Dawn, and I am currently in need of some strings. I've been told you have some.”

He chuckles. “Well Your Highness, I am Sir Pix L Riffs, you may call Pix. You have been told correctly.“ He walks to one of his chests, opening it up to grab a bundle and some strings.

He places the string into the bundle before walking back to the princess. “Here you are. The bundle is thrown in.”

She smiles before taking the bundle into her hands. “Thank you kind sir.”

He chuckles. “No problem really. Happy to help.”

She curtsies once more before walking away.

Chapter 7: Chapter 7

Chapter Text

Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

No water. No food. No Seth.

It's been days, and Seth never came back. Almost like he never existed.

Pixlriffs knows he did though.

Regardless of what happened to Seth, he can't stay in this ruin anymore.

He starts to shake his hands, getting a good grip on how sturdy the wall or chain is.

The chain is strong, but the wall is ready to break.

Pixlriffs sets his feet on the wall behind him, and he uses it as a resting place to pull on the chain.

It works. The wall crumbles, and he falls onto the ground.

He groans as he sits up. He takes a couple of minutes just sitting there before standing up.

He walks over to a chest in the corner hoping his stuff is in it.

Pixlriffs opens it, and sighs. His stuff is right there.

He quickly grabs his sword to stick it into the ground.

Once it was he put the chains around it, and used it to break the chains.

The chains break after a few minutes leaving the cuffs on his wrists.

Pixlriffs smiles, picking his sword out of the floor, and grabs the rest of his belongings.

Putting the sword into its holder, his now stale food into his dusty backpack, and he puts on his armor.

He sighs before opening the door that enters the ancient trail ruin.

“Oh dear.”

Chapter 8: Chapter 8

Chapter Text

Pix had walked his way through mangrove trees for a while. Honestly a bit lost, but he found his way.

He found himself facing a hut, and he figures who he is looking for lives within it.

He walks up to said hut. “Hello?”

“Hello?” Replied a soft voice within the hut. Said voice made Pix tenses up before the door opened revealing golden eyes that for some reason had always pierced his very being making him uncomfortable. She smiles at him. “Why hello there. I'm Shubble the Witch. Welcome to The Evermoore.”

Pix gulps, keeping his voice steady. “Hello, I'm Pix L Riffs. I was hoping to get some mangrove wood, if that's alright with you?”

She smiles at the politeness of his question. “Oh please. Take as much as you want.”

He laughs nervously before turning to one of the trees to begin chopping it down.

Shubble watches him just chopping the tree for a while before speaking again. “Your magic is kinda weird.”

Pix stops chopping as he tenses up before turning to smile at her. “What do you mean?”

She rubs the back of her head a bit sheepishly. “Well… it's just… there's an ancient feel to it.” She chuckles and shakes her head. “But that's impossible. You can't be more than a few years older than myself.”

He chuckles, turning back to the tree as he whispers to himself. “You’d be surprised.”

Chapter 9: Chapter 9

Chapter Text

Getting out of the ancient trail ruin was a challenge of itself, but Pixlriffs did it. He got out.

Soon he climbs out of the ground where he had been all this time.

He was amazed. Turns out he was under Rivendell this entire time.

Scott.

Pixlriffs smiles before getting up and runs over trying to find the king of said Kingdom.

“Scott!”

He couldn't find him. Pixlriffs started to worry before seeing a body in the corner of his eye, so he looked over.

The familiar long magenta hair was unmistakable.

He lets out a shaky breath before running over. “Seth!”

Pixlriffs kneels down next to the man who had kept him company for weeks and shakes him. “Come on! Wake up Seth!”

Seth didn't move. He didn't even make a sound.

Pixlriffs turns him onto his back and leans down hoping to hear his heartbeat.

Nothing. Not even a slow heartbeat. Seth of Rivendell is dead.

Pixlriffs cries.

He didn't know Seth that long. In fact, he didn't really trust the man, but he was his friend, and now they’ll never really get to know each other.

Pixlriffs wipes his eyes before looking up, and his eyes widen.

Right there nearby was Scott.

He was laying down just like Seth had been.

“No.” Pixlriffs said before crawling over to Scott. “No, no, no! Scott!”

He shakes his fellow king hoping to get some reaction out of him.

“Please, you can't be gone!” Pixlriffs said before looking down at where the rune sword was sticking out of Scott. “No please. Scott.”

He leans down just like he did with Seth.

No heartbeat. Just silence.

Pixlriffs starts crying again. “I'm sorry. I should've been here for you.” He hugs Scott's dead body as he cries. “I never got to tell you. I loved you. I knew you were with Jimmy, and happy that's all that mattered that you were happy, but still. I wish I got to tell you.”

He stays there for a while just crying over his dead friend. His dead love.

Pixlriffs sniffs, and sets Scott down before standing up. He takes his sword out and throws it down allowing him to put the rune sword in its place.

“Please. Everyone else still be alive.” He then runs towards the rainbow road where he hopes goes to Katherine’s empire.

Chapter 10: Chapter 10

Chapter Text

Pix was walking through the underground tunnels holding up a torch to find his way.

Over the course of rebuilding the ruins, other historians and archaeologists have joined him, and marked him as head archaeologist.

He doesn't actually mind it. He feels better knowing he has a place in this new time.

And as Head Archaeologist, he has been tasked to find and protect rare artifacts and sights.

That brings us to where he is headed.

They had a letter arrive from Tumble Town explaining how their Sheriff found a giant skeleton carcass, so he's on his way to the sight of said carcass.

It took a while, but soon Pix found the carcass and the man who found it.

This new Jimmy looks so different from the Jimmy he knew. No fins, no gills, no scales. Only a pair of canary wings. Everything else is the same as ever.

Hearing the coming footsteps, Jimmy turns around and smiles. “Howdy there partner, name’s Sheriff Jimmy, and you must be that fella Pix L Riffs everyone be talking about.”

Pix chuckles and smiles back. “Yes, that's me. And this must be the carcass.”

Jimmy nods and pats the carcass. “Yep. Dug her up with my own two hands.”

Pix wolf whistles as he looks over the carcass himself. “Amazing.”

Jimmy laughs. “Ain't she a beauty?”

Pix nods and looks back at the sheriff. “It's lovely. Great job at finding it, you can head back while I take care of it now.”

Jimmy blinks in surprise before tipping his hat and leaving.

Pix sets down his bag to crack his knuckles before getting to work.

Chapter 11: Chapter 11

Chapter Text

Gone.

They were all gone.

The Overgrown was burnt down to the ground. The flowers are all withered and sad. There's no way anything will grow ever again.

He found Katherine’s body in her well. She must have tried to fly away, but her wings withered alongside her land.

The Ocean Empire was drained. The water gone, the fish dead.

Lizzie's body wash in the middle of it all.

The Cod Empire wasn't doing good either. The water level hasn't drained just like its sister empire. Not to mention the place was destroyed.

Jimmy wasn't good either. He had dried out.

Mythland wasn't even there anymore. It's just debris. The citizens are unsure if they can rebuild.

Sausage looked like he lost his spark. Didn't even look up.

Grimlands has a giant hole in the middle of it. The citizens said that the explosion killed fWhip breaking their curse.

So no sign of fWhip.

The Crystal Cliffs weren't as bad as the others, but it was abandoned. The remaining citizens said Gem flew off on one of the dragons with fWhip.

At least they're both still alive.

The Lost Empire was in perfect condition except the avians say that Joey had fallen to his death. It shocked the kingdom so bad that they didn't realize that the catfolk had run away until it was too late.

The Undergrove was just abandoned. No one was there anymore. No wolves, no spirits, no Shrub.

Mezalea wasn't any better. The imperial palace was split in half, and everything looked to be in shambles.

According to the citizens Joel had gone to check on the Ocean Empire, and didn't come back.

Gilded Helianthia was in terrible shape. Fire everywhere, people scattered, and things were dying.

Including Pearl. He found her body at the top of her beanstalk.

Everything…

Everyone…

Is gone.

Chapter 12: Chapter 12

Chapter Text

Pix was organizing his chests when he was snuck up on.

“Hello Lore Man.”

Pix’s eyes widened before turning around to be met with the still most beautiful sight.

That familiar teal hair that shines like ice. No longer two matching eyes, it's one matching blue eye and one yellow, but still… so pretty.

Pix feels his face heat up before clearing his throat. “Oh… hello hi. You came out of nowhere.”

He smirks at the blush that grazed Pix’s cheeks before chuckling. “Yeah I know, I do that a lot. I'm Scott by the way. Scott Keldor.”

“Pix L Riffs.” Pix said without a thought, unfortunately already taking in Scott.

Scott smirks and twirls his hair enjoying how fluttered Pix is due to him. “Love the outfit Mr Riffs.”

Pix chuckles and brushes his shirt down. “Thank you. You look pre- snazzy yourself.” He quickly caught himself before he said pretty.

Scott chuckles and spins around.

His mismatch jacket follows over his shoulders showing off his white tank top and his freckled shoulders. He has a beautiful magenta hair clip that has two ends going up and making a diamond.

Even now he is beautiful.

“Thank you, thank you.” Scott says as he stops spinning. “I hear you're the froglight man.” He moves, grabbing Pix’s arm gently. “I was hoping to get some.”

Pix flushes. “Yeah, yeah I am. Which one would you like, and how much?”

Scott smiles brightly. “One stack of green and one stack of yellow please, and I brought two stacks of white dye and two stacks of blue dye for you.” He then let go of Pix’s arm to pull out the dyes.

Pix grabs the yellow and green froglights, and hands them over to the fellow man. “Thank you.”

Scott takes the froglights, and hands over the dye before putting his hand out to shake Pix’s. “Pleasure doing business with you.”

Pix smirks himself before taking Scott's hand, and turns it over to kiss. “The pleasure is all mine.”

Scott's breath hicks as his own cheeks softly flush, and he giggles. Giggles. “Bye.” He then leaves after Pix lets go of his hand.

Pix chuckles and watches as Scott leaves before sighing. “You're still as hooked as ever.”

Chapter 13: Chapter 13

Chapter Text

It took days to look into each of the other empires, and then Pixlriffs searched everywhere else for Shrub and Joel.

But gone.

They were nowhere to be found.

They were just gone without a single trace to be found.

It took Pixlriffs a day or so to get out of the trail ruin, it took him about five days or so to check the other empires, and finally eight days to check elsewhere for Shrub and Joel.

So after those two weeks, and couldn't find his remaining friends, he gave up.

Shrub was probably consumed by the forest, and Joel… honestly Pixlriffs wouldn't be surprised if Joel took himself out when he found Lizzie’s dead body.

They really loved each other.

He was all alone. No one else is alive, but him.

Chapter Text

Pix was going through his things to get rid of stuff he no longer needed, when he found the map Sausage had given him as a thank you gift.

He picks up the map to look it over, discovering it to be a pirate map.

Pix then remembers Pirate Joe and figures he might find treasure where the map leads.

“Just one problem.” He says to himself as he finds the plan perfect regardless of the problem. “I don't know where he's settled.”

After searching for a day, Pix discovered Pirate Joe and Sausage are actually neighbors.

Note to himself for the future.

Pix sails up to the dock of the pirate kingdom as he smiles. “Hey Pirate Joe.”

Pirate Joe, who was fishing up what could only be his food, looks over towards Pix and smiles. “Ahoy matey. What can I do ye for?”

Pix climbs onto the dock out of his boat, so he can walk up to Joe. “I had been going through my things, and I fished this out.” He took the map out, and handed it towards his fellow man. “I have no use for it, so I figured you would like it.”

Joe gasps and rips the map out of Pix’s hand to look at it.

Pix flinched as the map was torn out of his grip, and he looked surprised.

Joe smiles and looks back at Pix. “A treasure map!”

Pix chuckles a little nervously. “Yeah, it's a treasure map. Please enjoy whatever you find.”

Joe looks back at the map greedily. “Oh I will.”

Pix nods and walks back to his boat.

He briefly glances back at Joe before climbing back into his boat.

Joe wasn't paying enough attention to see Pix off as he started rowing away.

Pix let out a breath he didn't realize he took. “Joey was never that aggressive, right?”

Chapter 15: Chapter 15

Chapter Text

Finally after two weeks, Pixlriffs went back to Pixandria.

It looked as if he never left, but he did. The way his people acted was a reminder of that.

While he was gone someone by the name of The Phantom Assassin looked over Pixandria.

Apparently he at first wanted to kill him, but after taking care of Pixandria and the people he decided not to.

Pixlriffs made sure to thank him before heading to his home. He was tired, he couldn't remember the last time he got a proper night's rest.

He couldn't stay up any longer, not unless he just wanted to straight up pass out.

Pixlriffs quickly made it to his palace, and walked in towards his bed.

Once he laid down, he was out like a light.

Chapter 16: Chapter 16

Chapter Text

Pix was getting back from Joe's, dragging his boat back home unaware someone showed up.

“Why hello.”

He jumped at that before seeing her.

Her pink hair wavy down her back, blue eyes, and… is she wearing skin paint?

Pix blinks. “Um… hi. How are you doing? You startled me.”

She giggles. “Sorry. Good day, it's really hot and humid here.”

He looks around himself as he nods. “Yeah it is, but I'm used to hot and humid places. Name's Pix L Riffs. You're Lizzie, right?”

She looks back at him and nods. “The one and only.” She flips her hair. “I’ve come for some froglights.”

Pix nods and walks over to his supply.* “Of course, of course. Which one would you like?”

Lizzie smiles and follows behind him. “Pearlescent ones if you please.”

He nods as he grabs a stack of the pearlescent froglights, turning back around to hand them over to her. “Here you go.”

She grabs out a bundle dumping out the stack of amethyst she’s trading, and holds it out for him to put the froglights in.

Pix laughs at that before putting the froglights into the bundle, and bends down to pick up the amethyst.

Lizzie smiles and laughs too.

Once he was standing back up, he noticed she was looking at him in confusion. “What?”

She looks at him and tilts her head to the side as she narrows her eyes. “You seem strangely familiar.”

Pix blinks surprised before chuckling nervously as he rubs the back of his head. “Maybe because we both went to fWhip’s for The End.”

Lizzie thinks before smiling and nods. “That's probably it. Thank you for the froglights. See you again.” She then walks backwards before turning to walk forwards.

“You're welcome.” He watches her leave before letting out a breath. “How did she… did Lizzie… remember me?”

Chapter 17: Chapter 17

Chapter Text

Pixlriffs woke up to moonlight shining outside alongside a small blue light.

He looks confused as he gets up and walks out of the palace.

Right there was the Phantom Assassin with a small blue flame on his palm.

Pixlriffs walks up to him. “Hey.”

The Phantom Assassin tenses up before turning to Pixlriffs. “Hey.”

Pixlriffs blinks while looking up at the sky before looking at the Phantom Assassin. “How long have you been up?”

The Phantom Assassin shrugs. “A while.”

Pixlriffs nods.

They end up sitting in silence for a while.

“Can I ask you something?” Pixlriffs asks, the Phantom Assassin nods. “You don't have to answer, but why did you want to kill me?”

The Phantom Assassin sighs. “These lands have a prophecy about a king that has the powers over the sand and sky, and most people believe this king to be evil. I had learned that king was you, so I decided to get rid of you before you could hurt the people of Pixandria.”

Pixlriffs’ eyes widened at that.

“But then,” he continues, “I didn't hear anything about my traps and their king, so I came here to discover Pixandria in panic as their king had disappeared. So I stayed to help, and learned… you weren't the evil tyrant I had built in my head. And for that I apologize.”

Pixlriffs blinks before smiling softly. “No worries, everyone makes mistakes.”

The Phantom Assassin looks at Pixlriffs. “What happen to you?”

Pixlriffs sighs. “Long story. I rather not get into it.”

He nods before asking another question. “So where'd you get the sword?”

Pixlriffs touches the rune sword. “I got it from a good friend.”

The Phantom Assassin nods, now waiting for Pixlriffs to ask another question.

He hums thinking. “What's your name?”

The Phantom Assassin blinks, just staring at Pixlriffs for a long time.

Pixlriffs soon gets uncomfortable. “You don't have to-” Before he could finish the Phantom Assassin took his mask off.

Brown hair falls out over his shoulders and around his peach skin, and his purple eyes are now able to really meet Pixlriffs’ blue eyes.

“Xisuma. My name is Xisuma Void.”

Pixlriffs blinks before smiling. “Nice to meet you Xisuma.”

They end up watching a star shoot by.

“How long are you staying?” Pixlriffs asked.

“Not much longer.” Xisuma confesses. “I’ve been invited to a reign, so I'm joining. I’ll have to leave in an hour or so.”

Pixlriffs looks down. “Oh.”

Xisuma frowns before taking out one of his two purple emeralds and hands it to Pixlriffs. “To remember me bye.”

Pixlriffs smiles and takes the emerald. “Thank you Xisuma.”

They just stood there talking about random things and laughing before Xisuma had to leave.

Once his new friend is gone Pixlriffs walks to the Vigil to look at it.

These weeks play back in his mind.

His time with Seth despite being in captivity, finding what's left of his friends and their empires, not finding the ones who weren't dead as far as he knew, and finally making a new friend but having to say goodbye.

Everything was just…

Wrong.

Pixlriffs finally fell down onto his knees and started crying.

As he cries, the Vigil shook before the lanterns around it started to spin around it.

Pixlriffs looks back down at the Vigil before standing up fast to take a few steps back.

The lanterns soon stopped spinning only to fly towards him.

Pixlriffs gets knocked off his feet onto the ground, knocked him out by the lanterns rushing into him.

The lanterns soon disappeared, leaving Pixlriffs unconscious on the ground unaware of what just happened.

Chapter 18: Chapter 18

Chapter Text

Pix was currently coming out of the catacombs, when a soft sweet voice spoke up.

“Hello?”

He walks all the way up and out to get a good look at her.

She’s just as he remembers her. Wavy dark brown hair, matching soft eyes, and her tan skin that no matter what simply shined in the sun. She now wears a light pink dress, and she is no longer a fairy.

She smiles at him. “Hello I am Princess Katherine of GlimmerGrove.”

Pix smiles and bows. “I'm Pix L Riffs. Pleasure to meet you.”

She takes her pointer finger, and pushes him back up. “Lovely to meet you too. I hear you have froglights.”

He blinks before smiling softly and chuckles. “I do, I do.”

She smiles brightly and claps her hands like an excited child. “Wonderful. So I brought different kinds of wool for you. May I have two stacks of the purple froglights, and you can take six stacks of any color wool.”

Pix smiles like a proud dad before nodding. “That sounds reasonable.”

He takes her to his froglights chest before she sets her wool shoulder down.

Katherine walked up to the chest, opening it and taking the two stacks of pearlescent froglights.

Pix opened up the shulker and swiped through the wools before finding the black and white taking three stacks of each.

He closes the shulker back up before turning to her. “Thank you for the visit. You're always welcomed back.”

She walks up smiling lovely and picks up her shulker. “No problem. Thank you for the froglights and for the welcome.”

Pix chuckles again. “No problem either.”

They finished saying their goodbyes before Katherine leaves back to her kingdom.

Chapter 19: Chapter 19

Chapter Text

Pix was cleaning up some stone that he and the other archaeologists chipped off some ruins, when a giant shadow appeared overhead.

So he looked up and gasped.

Out of the sky, a brown hair with a green strip hair man flew using white-golden wings to fly down.

His brown eyes widen with excitement and mischief, his beard blowing in the wind, and his toga moves with the wind as well.

Once he was on the ground he stood over Pix by four feet. He smiles at the mortal. “Grand entrance.”

Pix gulps as he looks up at the god. “Grand indeed. How may I help you, Your Godliness?”

He smirks. “Your Godliness? Oh I like that.”

Pix smiles at that.

He then clears his throat. “I am Joel, God of Sky, Prophecies, and History. I have come bearing gifts for I have received word that you are the one who has been chosen to be the judge in an upcoming trial that I have found myself in.”

Pix perks up as he relaxes remembering how fWhip asked him to be a judge for a trial case. “Oh yes of course. May I see said gifts?”

Joel sets down a green shulker box and bows while walking up for Pix to examine the gifts.

Pix opens the shulker box to swipe through the gifts.

Inside was eight stacks of moss, thirty-two gold blocks, and a toy sheriff.

Pix closes the shulker as he holds back a laugh before clearing his throat. “These are lovely gifts. Thank you God Joel.”

Joel smiles and bows to the mortal, surprising Pix. “You are quite welcome Sir Pix L Riffs.” He thinks for a moment. “Can I call you Pixlriffs?”

Pix tenses up as he has a flash to a thousand years ago with King Joel of Mezalea.

He takes in a deep breath before smiling. “Sure, go ahead. That was actually my o-” He quickly catches himself before quickly coming up with a lie. “My ancestor's name.”

Something flickers in Joel's eyes before nodding.

Pix clears his throat. “I will see you at the trial.”

Joel smiles before flying away.

Chapter Text

Pixlriffs had woken up, and decided to leave. He left his empire in the capable hands of his advisor before packing up his things, and leaving.

He traveled throughout the lands meeting many people and seeing many things.

It wouldn't be until years later, when he heard about the king of Pixandria passed away leaving his oldest the throne.

Pixlriffs had to look at himself realizing that he hasn't aged a day since all those years ago.

That night with the Vigil, it did something to him.

He's no longer aging, at least not at a normal human pace anymore. He also has new powers. Each connected to his friends’ empires.

The Vigil made him into something else. He's not human, but he's not a god or anything else.

He doesn't know what he is.

But he does no one thing.

He’ll get to live alongside his friends again, and maybe this time. Get to die with them.
