Chapter 1: The beginning

Chapter Text

1 The beginning

My name is Isagi Youichi. I'm Japan's number 1 striker… at least, that's what they want you to know.
Now you're probably wondering where it all goes wrong. Well, first it was just playing soccer, then it was falling from a 50-foot bridge. Allow me to explain.

It all started five weeks ago. It was after practice, and all the guys agreed to have a movie night. Isagi was in charge of popcorn.

He was walking back from the cafeteria with popcorn in hand. As he walked, the guys were all arguing about what they should watch.

“We should watch a horror movie!” Meguru Bachira exclaimed.

“Let's watch a Romcom,” Shindou said, winking at Bachira.

Bachira put a finger in his mouth and pretended to gaga at Shindou's reply.

“How about an action movie?” Seishirō Nagi suggested.

Chaos erupted. Hyoma Chigiri calmed them down. “How about a documentary?” he offered.

In unison, they agreed. Chigiri started typing on Netflix: *documentaries.* Loads of documentaries popped up. He scrolled for a bit then stopped.

“Do you guys see that?” he asked the others.

They glanced at the screen and shrugged.

“The same documentary keeps popping up.”

“So?” Bachira asked.

“It must be really good.”

“Eh, probably.” Chigiri clicked it. It was titled *The Lone Survivor.*

They all went silent as it started.

*[Murder, kidnappings, and the lone survivor who refuses to speak]*

It went on showing a man named Tristen Vel, the supposed killer. He was in his mid-thirties with stubble on his chin, dead eyes, and a nasty scar going from his mouth to his chin.

The documentary continued:

*[Tristen Vel also called himself the ‘Valet.’ It was a fitting name, as he would dress up as a valet parker, steal the car, then proceed to put on a mask and snatch up little boys coming home from school.]*

Reo Mikage started tearing up. “Oh, that's awful,” he said, his voice cracking.

“Calm down,” Nagi scolded Reo, with more shake in his voice than he'd like to admit.

Shindou suddenly became quiet, and Bachira was wide-eyed.

The documentary continued:

*[Although it isn't confirmed how many boys went missing, it's presumed that 30 boys got kidnapped by the Valet.]*

Finally, Isagi was coming back with the popcorn. He walked down the halls and through the door holding the glass bowl.

He started speaking when he glanced up and froze. All the guys were staring at him, wide-eyed. Some gazes were filled with fear, others with pity and shock.

“W-why are you all staring at me like that?” he asked.

Then he glanced at the TV on the wall. Then it said the words that shook him to the bone:

*[The lone survivor of this massacre is 10-year-old little Isagi Youichi.]*

It showed tiny Isagi trembling with fear. A gigantic fuzzy blanket was wrapped around him as he sat in the ambulance. His skin was white as snow, and his cheeks were covered in dirt and blood.

He dropped his bowl of popcorn. As it shattered across the floor, he took a couple of steps back and kept whispering to himself:

“No. No no no no no…”

At first it was quiet, but then he started shouting:

“TURN IT OFF! TURN IT OFF!”

The guys slowly started getting up, trying to approach Isagi to calm him down. But they were too late. Panic had already set in.

Isagi was full-on hyperventilating and shaking from fear. Suddenly, he sank to his knees and started covering his ears, continually saying:

“No, no, no… this can't be happening!”

Chaos suddenly erupted. Men in Blue Lock uniforms appeared. Some raced toward Isagi, while others tried to turn the TV off and get the other soccer players out of the room.

“What's wrong with Isagi?” Bachira asked, eyeing him with concern.

“None of your concern,” a massive man said, trying to usher Bachira out of the room.

Many more questions were asked, but none received a reply.

Isagi, still panicking, picked up a piece of glass off the ground from the bowl. He was about to plunge it into his neck when suddenly a tall man with shaggy black hair tackled him. He grabbed Isagi's arms and held them to restrain him.

Isagi moved and kicked, hoping to break free.

“Let me go! Ugh, let me go. Please!” His voice broke with desperation as tears streamed down his face.

The black-haired man hummed gently as he pulled Isagi into his arms to comfort him.

“I don't wanna remember. I don't.” Isagi cried.

“It's ok. It will all be over soon enough,” the black-haired man said as he injected a needle into Isagi's neck, causing him to lose consciousness. His body went limp.

The black-haired man lifted his walkie-talkie and announced:

“Isagi Youichi is successfully neutralized. I repeat: Isagi Youichi is successfully neutralized.”

Jinpachi Ego replied, “Tell your men to clean up the mess and find out how the HELL that documentary was able to be played. It was banned all across the world.”

“Roger,” the black-haired man said, putting his walkie-talkie back. He lifted Isagi's limp body off the floor.

“Clean this mess up and make sure all the players are locked in their rooms and monitored at all times. MOVE OUT!” he commanded.

Then he turned and walked out of the room with Isagi in tow.

This left all the players wondering the same thing:

“What just happened to Isagi?”
