Chapter Text

You all know sprout’s handler, sam mclaughen. (is that even a real last name?) but what if, sam wasn't sprout’s first handler, what if there was someone before them.

It all started when Miss Delilah made the first 7 toons. (the mains) dandy, sprout, astro, vee, shelly, pebble, and spin. (my oc)

Arthur gave the toon to their handlers. Dandy and pebble were given to Deven. Vee was given to Veronica, shelly was given to Shannon, astro was given to Austin.

But Sprout was not given to Sam. (this was before them) he was given to nayla. Nayla russel.

You may be wondering, “oh, what’s so special about this au?”

Well, you know that all of the handlers take care and love the toon or toons they have to take care of. But nayla didnt like sprout at all. Not even a little bit.

(and yes, i made sprout have the most trauma in my au)

Nayla wouldn't go to work to take care of sprout. The other handlers or delilah has to. But when she goes to work to take care of sprout. She just abuses him.

Soon sprout was five years old. It was his birthday.

“Here, sprout. I got you a dino plush, I know you like the t-rex.”

“Thank you Shelly! I love it!”

“I asked my handler to make this with me.” astro said as he handed sprout a fresh yummy blue frosting cupcake.

“Thank you, astro! This looks so yummy!”

“I made you this, seedly.” Vee gave Sprout a box with something inside of it.

“Whatever, vee. But thanks.”

Sprout opened the box and there was a plush of a cupcake.

“Wow, vee. Did you make this?”

“Yep, my handler helped too.”

“Thank you.”

“You're welcome.”

“I made you this sprout! It’s a drawing of you and all of us!”

Sprout looked at the drawing and smiled big.

“Thank you, dandy! This looks so cool! I'm going to hang this up on my wall!”

Dandy smiled, “I'm glad you liked it!”

“And i made you this!”

Spin handed sprout his gift.

Sprput opened his gift and it was a red and white sweater.

“Thanks spin! I love it!”

“Your welcome!”

“I got you this, sprout.” Miss Delilah gave her his present.

Sprout opened it and there was a homemade plush of his self, the plush looking just like him.

“Wow! This is so awesome! Thank you mo- I mean, Miss Delilah.”

Vee was about to laugh, “were you about to call Miss Delilah mom?”

“N-no!”

Delilah laughed, “it’s okay, sprout.”

Later sprout was getting a glass of water, but he dropped it. The glass shattered everywhere.

“What happened?!” nayla said

Nayla slapped sprout. “Clean this up right now!” she shouted.

Sprout was crying, he grabbed a towel and cleaned the mess.

“Stop crying!”
Sprout stoped crying.

later, Sprout was crying on his pillow.

“Sprout? Are you okay?

Sprout got up, it was astro. He wiped his tears away.

“Y-yeah! I'm okay!”

Astro frowned, “I know you're not okay. I saw you cry.”

Sprout teared up,”c-can i have a hug?”

“Okay.”

Astro walked to sprout and hugged him, his blanket falling off of him. All four of his arms around sprout’s body. Sprout sobbed, tears running down his face.

One of astro’s arms grabbed his blanket and wrapped it around sprout.

“Shhh, it’s okay. I got you.”

Soon sprout calmed down.

“ t-thank you, astro. I'm glad to have a friend like you.”

Astro smiled, “your welcome.”

Sprout grabbed his favorite book, “Want to read this together?”

Astro nodded.

Sprout was reading his favorite chapter, it was the one where the knight was saving the princess.

“The dragon roared out flames! The fire is spreading fast! But the knight was not scared! Not even a little bit!”

“Is he going to save the princess??!”

“Just wait.”

“The knight ran up the stairs, the fire spreading like the wind! He grabbed the princess and jumped out of the window!”

Astro gasped, “are they okay??!”

“He jumped on his horse and took the princess to safety, and got married and lived happily ever after!”

Astro clapped, “wow! That was awesome!”

“Yeah it was! This is why I love this book!”

Astro yawned, “I'm tired.”

“Me too.”

Astro was already asleep, sprout smiled and layed down.

“Good night, astro.”

Chapter Text

5 more years went by, it was sprout’s tenth birthday.

“I can't believe I'm already ten!”

“Me too, sprout.”

“Yeah! It was like just yesterday you were five!”

“Yep!”

Soon sprout was opening his presents.

“Wow! A new cook book! It has a lot of foods I've never heard of. Thanks shelly!”

“You're welcome!”

“ a plush of vee. Thanks vee.”

“Your welcome, seedly.”

“Wow! A plush, and it smells like cupcakes! Thank you dandy!”

“You're welcome!”

Sprout opened up his big present, it was a bike.

It was red, black, and white, with wheels the sise of dandy's head, with peddles.

“Whoa! A bike!”

“Oh my gosh! That looks so cool!

“Wow!”

“Awesome!”

“Cool!”

“Holy moly!”

“Oh my god, that’s a big bike!”

“Thank you Miss Delilah! Thank you!” sprout said, hugging Miss Delilah.

She smiled, “your welcome sprout.”

later sprout was trying his bike, But he kept falling.

“Ahh!” sprout said as he fell.

Sprout was siting on the ground, his bike laying on it’s side.

“I can never do it. I keep falling.”

“You can do it.” Miss Delilah said, walking into the lobby.

“Just keep trying and never give up. If you need help, ask me.”

Sprout got up, dusted off his knees and got on his bike. He was pebbleing his bike, one after another.

“I-im doing it! I'm doing it!”

“Good job sprout!”

“Yeah!”

Sprout was riding his new bike, he felt proud of himself. He was doing what he thought he'd never do.

“You're doing great, sprout!”

“Thanks Miss Delilah!”

But just when things were doing great, one of his training wheels fell out.

“AHHHHH!!!!!”

“Sprout!!”

Sprout crashed, his bike landing on his leg. He had a bruise on his head, and his leg really hurts.

“Are you okay, sprout?!”

“Im okay.”

“You're not! You just crashed!”

“My leg hurts, and my head does too.”

Delilah carried sprout to the medbay.

“Dont worry, I'll make it all better.”

Soon, sprout got his leg healed and the bruise on his head was also healed.

“thank you, Miss Delilah.”

“Your welcome, sprout.”

Sprout walked to the kitchen to get some water when, “boo!”

“AHHHH!!!”

“Hahahaha! I got you!”

“Shelly! You got me!”

“That was funny!”

“It was.”

“What are you doing, sprout?”

“Im just getting water, what are you doing?”

“I'm trying to get a snack but I'm too short to get it, can you help me?”

“Sure!”

Sprout reached the mini bag of chips and grabbed it.

“What happened to your leg, sprout?”

“I fell off of my bike.”

“Ouch, it looks like it hurts.”

“It did, but not so much anymore.”

Sprout gave Shelly the mini bag of chips.

“Thank you.”

“You're welcome.”

Shelly walked back to her room as Sprout walked back to his room.

“You're late, sprout.”

Chapter Text

“Sprout!”

“Y-yes, nayla?”

“Get me some water.”

“Okay.”

Sprout went to the kitchen and got her some water.

Nayla took a sip.

“It’s too cold!”

“I-im sorry!”

“Whatever!”

Nayla grabbed her charging cord and wrapped it up 5 times.

“I-i didn't do anything wrong!”

“You made my water cold, and you talked back to me!” she said as she hit sprout.

“I-im sorry! Please forgive me!”

Nayla hit him again, “what did i tell you about talking back!?”

Sprout was sobbing, “t-to not to do it.”

Nayla was about to hit sprout again when,

“Hey! Nayla! Stop hitting my friend!”

It was astro!

“Stop being a bully and take care of him! Look at him! He’s hurt, crying and you dont give a fuck!”

“How dare you talk to me that way!”

“That’s what you get fuckhead!”

Nayla hit astro, he fell to the ground as he was hit. “dont ever call me that ever! Do you hear me!?”

Astro was tearing up, “j-just don't hurt my friend, please.”

“Astro no! You can just do that! You’ll get hurt like I am!”

(im sorry for the moonberry fans out there, i dont ship it in this au. But in a different one, I do ship them so stay in toon to read more!) (get it, stay in toon? lol.)

“If it keeps you safe, I'll be fine.”

“No! Astro!”

Nayla dragged sprout to his closet, “stay in here while I deal with your friend here.”

What sprout saw was unforgettable, he wanted to save Astro from what he was seeing, but the door was locked. Sprout was sobbing, knowing that he’s useless to trying to open the door. He wants to save astro from her, but no matter how hard he tries to open the door, he can't open it.

Three hours later, Nayla opened the door. “You can get out now.”

Sprout ran to Astro, “are you okay?! What has she done to you?!”

Astro didn't say anything, he turned around and walked to his room. Sprout was speechless, whatever nayla did to astro, must have made him sad or upset.

Sprout doesn't like seeing his friends sad or upset. So he had to do something to help astro, something, anything!

That’s when he remembered, there were cameras. One in every room.

The next day sprout ran to Miss Delilah’s office, where she was drinking her daily cup of coffee.

“Miss Delilah!!”

“What is it, sprout?”

“Nayla did something to astro.”

Delilah looked concerned, “what did she do to him?”

“She did something, I don't know what it was though.”

“Did she beat him?”

“No,no! She…took off her and astro’s clothes. And I don't know, I did something that I know that is not right to do!”

Delilah looked even more concerned, "i-I'll check the cameras."

As Delilah checked the cameras, her eyes widened with fear.

“No, not astro.” she whispered.

Meanwhile, astro was crying, his body hurts all over, he was in pain.

“Astro? Are you okay? You’ve been in your room all morning.” Austen asked, looking consurned as his door.

Chapter Text

It has been a month since what happened. Astro took a long time to heal, poor astro. He didn't deserve that. He’s only a year younger than me…This is all my fault. But then someone new came.

“Everyone.” Miss Delilah started, “this is pepper, she’s the new toon.”

Pepper was a pizza slice, she looked awesome. I want to be her friend.

“Hello, nice to meet you.”

“Nice to meet you too! What’s your name?”

“My name’s sprout.”

“Cool name!”

“Thanks.”

“Wanna come to my room?”

“Sure!”

Sprout and pepper walked to her room, “looks like sprout made a new friend.”

“Yep, and I'm glad of that.”

“So! This is my room!”

Her walls were covered with posters of famous bakers, cooks, and chefs. Some were drawings of her being a baker.

“Wow! Your room is so cool!”

“Thanks!”

Sprout looked at the posters one by one. “You want to be a baker when you grow up?”

“Yep! Baking is so cool and awesome! I just love it!”

“It seems kinda hard.”

“It does, but with lots of practice, i can get it right!”

“I want to learn too.”

“You do?”

“Yeah, for a while.”

“I can teach you! Is there a cook book anywhere?”

“Yeah, I got one for my 5th birthday.”

“Awesome! Get it and meet me in the kitchen at 6:35!”

“Okay!”

Later sprout had the cook book in his hands and went to the kitchen.

“Sorry I'm late, I was busy cleaning up a mess that pebble made.”

“It’s okay! Come on! Let’s cook!”

As sprout and pepper were cooking, things changed for sprout. He thought that pepper wasn’t only cool, she looked pretty, awesome, and…cute..? Was he falling for someone that just came to gardenview? He didn't know. He never felt this way for anyone before. He saw her as more than a friend, but he didn't say anything.

And just like that, they made their first dish, “wow! It smells good!”

“It sure does!”

“Let’s have a taste test.”

“Okay!”

Sprout took two spoons and gave one to pepper.

“Ready?”

“Yep!”

“Three, two….one!”

They both scooped a little chunk and ate it.

Sprout felt like a firework of flavor just bursted into his mouth.

“Holy snickerdoodles. That tasted so yummy!”

“Yeah! We should share it with the others!”

Pepper grabbed four plates and put the brownies in each of the plates. Sprout grabbed some forks and put them on each of the plates.

“Here! We made some brownies! Try it!” Pepper said as she handed a plate to Astro.

“Thanks.” astro grabbed the fork, scooped the brownie and ate it. “Wow, this tastes really good.”

“It’s great!” shelly added, taking another bite of the brownie.

“Kinda wish I could eat it.” vee said, looking at the plate.

“You do?”
“Yeah, i mean. It looks pretty tasty.”

“Thanks.”

“Yep.”

A few mouths went by, and sprout was still falling for pepper. He really wants to tell her how he feels. But he’s too scared to say it.

“What should i say to her?”

“Maybe just ask her to go on a date?” shelly replied.

“Maybe get her flowers?” astro asked.

“Mayeb you can make chocolate for her and ask her out?”

“That’s a great idea, dandy! But I don't know how to make chocolate.”

“Who wants to make chocolate?”

“Oh! Sprout wants to-”

Before dandy could say anymore to pepper, sprout covered his mouth with his hands. “Shhhh!! Don't tell her!”

“Tell me what, sprout?”

Sprout froze and looked at pepper. “I-it’s nothing.”

“Not if my name is heard. Come on, sprout. Just tell me.”

“Fine! I like you, as in like like.”

Pepper blushed, she never thought that sprout liked her back. She didn't know what to say or do. She was just standing there, shocked and relieved.

But sprout? He thought he messed up. For his pov,he saw a disgusted look on her face. It made sprout think that he fucked up badly.

“P-pepper, i… you know what, never mind. Forget what i said.”

“I'm so fucken stupid. stupid, stupid, stupid.” sprout mumbled.

Then all of a sudden, pepper gave sprout a kiss on the cheek. Everyone was shocked, vee, astro, shelly, dandy and spin.

“Your not stupid, sprout. I liked you too. Like, as in love. I have had a crush on you since we met. I just thought you liked Shelly.”

“Huh?!” shelly gasped, “why would sprout like me like that? We are just friends!”

“It’s just, you two have a strong bond and i thought that you two liked each other.”

“Well, now that you know now, wanna-”

“Yes, i would like to go out with you.”
