Chapter 1: Warrior's Shadow
Chapter Text
In the year 4485, nine years after Kirby ventured into the Mirror World and defeated Dark Mind. The Mirror World was at peace for a little while, that was until numerous threats appeared, but wherever they were, one person was there to stop them. Shadow Kirby, a counterpart of a particular Star Child, was there to save the mirror realm from danger, in honor of the courageous puffball who saved his home long ago. However, despite Shadow Kirby having no enemies, there was one particular one that kept preventing the mirror realm from having any peace. The dark reflection of a noble warrior known as Dark Meta Knight appeared and threatened to destroy everything that Shadow Kirby worked so hard to achieve. Although the two would battle from time to time again, there was no true winner or loser, as Dark Meta Knight had one goal aside from ruling the mirror realm, and that was reviving his old master, Dark Mind.
One day, Dark Meta Knight journeyed to a kingdom where he was met with an evil queen known as Dark Sectonia, who told him that she might be able to help him revive Dark Mind. With that, Dark Meta Knight soon traveled to the land of Radish Ruins, where he found a mirror identical to the mirror that Kirby and Meta Knight used to enter the Mirror World. However, before he could take the mirror anywhere with him, Shadow Kirby appeared, intending to stop him. After a brief battle, Shadow Kirby was soon ambushed by Dark Sectonia’s second in command, Dark Taranza, who soon assisted Dark Meta Knight in escorting the mirror back to the kingdom of parallel Floralia. Once the mirror was in Dark Sectonia’s possession, she soon began corrupting the mirror, and in doing so, she corrupts her reflection on the other side in the process.
Soon, Shadow Kirby arrives and defeats several foes along the way. He finally finds Dark Taranza and engages in a battle with him. Soon after Dark Taranza is defeated, he makes it to Dark Sectonia’s palace, where he soon faces Dark Meta Knight once again, but before he can attack him, Shadow Kirby draws a nearby weapon before engaging in a duel against the dark and evil knight. After Dark Meta Knight is defeated, Dark Sectonia intervenes, blasting Dark Meta Knight out of the palace before she turns her attention to Shadow Kirby.
“You think you’re some sort of hero?” she asked tauntingly
“You are nothing more than a pale imitation of that pink puffball, you will never be a true hero!”.
Shadow Kirby and Dark Sectonia soon battled, causing nearby destruction in the kingdom. Throughout the battle, Shadow Kirby soon figured out that the mirror Dark Sectonia had used was the source of her dark power. In an attempt to defeat her once and for all, he shattered the mirror into several pieces.
However, when doing so caused an explosion that nearly destroyed the palace, and in the process, the power that the mirror had was soon absorbed into Shadow Kirby’s body, changing his murky gray appearance to a glistening purple and shadowy look. The explosion soon also transformed Dark Sectonia as she took on a form similar to Zero, a familiar enemy to Kirby. After a climactic and intense battle, Shadow Kirby manages to defeat Dark Sectonia, destroying her body for good, but even after that, he couldn’t help but feel as if he failed in stopping Dark Sectonia in time. If he had known about it earlier, he could’ve stopped her before the damage she caused was done, and the way she told him that he would never be a hero like his counterpart affected him. Sure, he looked like Kirby, he even had his abilities, but did he have what it takes to be a hero like him? Throughout the many weeks, Shadow Kirby soon struggled with defeating many other threats, nearly losing many battles. Many other people began to doubt his ability to be the protector that the Mirror World needed, overwhelmed by his previous failure, and with the opinions of other people, Shadow Kirby soon disappeared, supposedly stepping away from his responsibilities as the Mirror World’s protector.
However, in the following twenty-five years of peace leading into the year 4510. Dark Meta Knight, still wounded from his battle with Shadow Kirby and his betrayal of Dark Sectonia, stumbled upon a dark sorcerer named Parallel Nightmare, who agreed to help Dark Meta Knight revive Dark Mind. Soon, numerous demon beasts had appeared, causing mayhem throughout the Mirror World. In a distant kingdom, the infamous king, Shadow Dedede, fended off a horde of demon beasts before Shadow Kirby appeared to help him fend off the attack. Although the two have never interacted in the past, they didn’t like each other but never hated each other.
To discover the cause of the demon beast outbreak, Shadow Dedede and Shadow Kirby formed a truce to investigate. The two then traveled to numerous locations where they soon faced more minions created by Parallel Nightmare, along the journey Shadow Dedede knows why Shadow Kirby disappeared for so long and confronted him about the topic, “You know, what you did when that Dark Sectonia bug was being evil shouldn’t defy you” he said, although Shadow Kirby didn’t say anything to add why he failed he didn’t deny it either “To hell what other folks are tellin’ you, it don’t matter if you’re perfect neither if you wanna be a hero then you at least have to be the best version of yourself”. As the two journeyed on, they soon made it to Parallel Nightmare’s fortress, where they encountered many demon beasts before facing Parallel Nightmare. After an intense battle, the two soon overwhelmed Parallel Nightmare, but before he disappears, he successfully revives Dark Ming as Dark Meta Knight appears fully restored and back to full strength.
Before the two could face Dark Mind, Shadow Kirby was soon separated from Shadow Dedede as he was forced to face Dark Meta Knight to finish the battle he had started twenty-five years ago. To support him in his battle, Shadow Dedede throws Shadow Kirby his hammer to help him. Dark Meta Knight soon draws out his version of Galaxia as his cape turns into a pair of tattered bat wings and takes a battle stance. After a climactic battle, Shadow Kirby manages to defeat Dark Meta Knight, as he drops his sword and struggles to stand. As his mask broke, revealing his face, he soon shattered before his soul eventually became one with the revived Dark Mind. To combat this threat and prevent it from spreading fear to his home, Shadow Kirby picks up Dark Meta Knight’s Galaxia and battles Dark Mind.
In the end, Dark Mind was defeated once again, but Shadow Kirby could sense that Dark Meta Knight wasn’t truly gone yet. He hopped onto a warp star and traveled to the Colosseum, deserted and in disarray from Dark Meta Knight’s battle with Kirby. When Shadow Kirby arrives, he sees Dark Meta Knight, surrounded by a dark aura and half of his mask broken, only revealing half of his face, as he holds a broken sword, its blade looks like a broken mirror showing shattered reflections. The two engaged in one final battle. Shadow Kirby soon taps into the power of Dark Meta Knight’s galaxia to overwhelm Dark Meta Knight. In his final moments, Dark Meta Knight collapses as he finally admits defeat, he takes off his half-broken mask as he looks at Shadow Kirby who’s matured and becomes a better warrior “Y-You’re only a reflection of that pink nuisance I encountered years ago and yet, you’re as powerful as him” he said as he cracked even more from his arms and wings, “Perhaps Dark Sectonia was wrong about you, you’re a hero, but not a traditional one” those were his final works before he levitated upwards and turned to stardust.
As the sun rose in the mirror-like sky, Shadow Kirby looked at Dark Meta Knight’s Galaxia. As he saw his reflection within the blade, he saw that it briefly changed from showing an image of Kirby before changing back to the reflection. Rather than dwell on what would be his legacy, Shadow Kirby had a new objective: to be the best version of himself he could be. He shouldn’t let what other people think of him or his past failures defy who he is. Before he left the colosseum, he planted his Dark Meta Knight’s sword into the ground as a memorial to his rival and final enemy, with a new path and goal set, Shadow Kirby soon became the protector and hero of the Mirror World once more.
Chapter 2: Ontos
Chapter Text
The year 4520, twenty years after the battle of Curilia. The magic faction of the ancients had slowly declined, leaving fewer than fifty members. However, Domia, who many thought had died in battle, somehow returned thanks to Hyness, the leader of the magical faction. With their loss of Curilla, leaving others to believe that the ancients were weak and broken, Domia works with Hyness to find a way to revive Void Termina. While doing so, Domia researched reviving old fallen warriors. If one could summon the Galactic Comet and use its power to grant one wish, it could theoretically bring a fallen warrior back to life temporarily.
Domia then travelled to an unknown region of space, using his power to reassemble the Galactic Nova, the ancient clock-like entity’s form still retained a bit of damage from its battle with Kirby.
“Ready → I will grant you one wish →…” it said.
Domia then made his wish, knowing the right warrior to bring back to life.
“I hear you have the ability to grant powerful wishes. My wish is for the strongest warrior to be brought back into the world of the living!” Domia said.
“You wish to see the strongest warrior in the galaxy, one who has challenged the great deceivers of the universe and destroyed the false god, Void Termina → I will now summon the one they call Galacta Knight →” Nova said, “3…2…1 Go! →”
Domia shielded his eyes as a bright light illuminated the Galactic Nova. Galacta Knight’s body was soon reformed from stardust; his wounds from long ago still lingered on him when he was fully reformed. Domia traps Galacta Knight in a crystallized barrier, knowing that when he would be revived, it would be only temporarily, and he was not even at full strength yet. Domia then took Galacta Knight to Jambandra, the newly established headquarters for the magical faction of the ancients. When Galacta came to, he suddenly remembered what had happened before he died, when the crystallized barrier soon disappeared, chains appeared on both of his hands, which prevented him from tapping into his angelic power.
“Wh-what in the world is this? Where am I?” Galacta asked, and before a voice from the shadows answered him
“You may not remember us a hundred and thirty years ago, but you gave us trouble back then.” Hyness and Domia soon entered the room. “Hyness?! That’s impossible…You and the rest of the ancients died out years ago!”
“What happened a hundred and thirteen years ago was not exactly what happened,” said Hyness
“You crippled us, but we never truly disappeared from the universe, and now we wish to finish what we started.”
To emphasize his point, a dark, crystalized heart soon slowly floated downwards. Galacta Knight immediately recognized it, knowing what Hyness and Domia were trying to achieve.
“Impossible, h-how did you find it?” Galacta Knight asked, struggling to break free from his chains.
“Did you think we’d believe that you successfully destroyed Termina?” Domia asked
“It’s true you destroyed its form, but you didn’t vanquish its spirit from this world,” Hyness said.
Galacta was in disbelief.
“I thought I destroyed that false god, so how is that thing in there?!”
“You might’ve destroyed Void’s physical form with your angelic powers, but you’ve also sealed it away, sent it into a deep, dreamless slumber, but with your power, you will undo the seal, and Void Termina will rise again!” Hyness explained.
“N-No, I won’t do it! I won’t let you use me to revive Termina!” Galacta said in refusal
“That’s a shame, because you don’t have a choice in the matter,” Domia said as he snapped his fingers.
The chains on Galacta’s arms are inflicting harmful magic upon him.
“You will unleash your power and undo the seal NOW!” Domia said as both he and Hyness held their hands outwards to Galacta Knight, slowly corrupting him
He couldn’t resist as the chains prevented him from escaping. Just as he was about to give up resisting, he heard a voice that no one else could hear.
“Do you want to live?”
Galacta looked up but couldn’t see anyone.
“What? Who said that?” he asked before it responded
“Do you wish to live or do you crave death?” they asked.
“I-I want to live, I can’t allow Void Termina to be revived…”
“Tell me, Aeon, do you like this world?” the mysterious voice spoke.
“O-Of course I do, but who are you?” Galacta said,
“My name is Ontos. I am a guardian to those who wish to achieve power, and I judge beings if they are worthy of my power,” it said.
“You don’t have much time left, Aeon. If you give up now, the ancients may use your power to undo the seal, and you will be lost for good. Do you accept my power?” Ontos spoke as rays of light suddenly entered the room and shone down on Galacta Knight.
“I do,” Galacta said,
In mere moments when the corruption was almost completed, a small butterfly with yellow-orange wings slowly flew down before landing on Galacta Knight’s head. Both of them began to glow as the chains broke, and an explosion then knocked Hyness and Domia away. They soon saw another figure emerge from the flames, standing where Galacta Knight stood, its mask red and adorned with butterfly motifs. It conjured a sword through flames, and with one powerful slash, a flaming crescent-like beam was shot into the air, destroying the ceiling.
“What is this?!” Hyness asked,
“Aeon, you are supposed to obey us! What is this power you’ve been hiding?!” Domia asked
The figure soon looked at the two ancients and spoke, as its voice sounded like multiple overlapping voices.
“...We are Morpho Knight, and you will never rule the universe,” it said as flame-like figures appeared on its back before manifesting into butterfly wings.
Morpho Knight then flew through the hole in the ceiling, escaping Jambandra. Although this setback was unexpected, Domia had another idea for reviving Void Termina. he then explained that if there was a strong source of negative emotions, it could be enough to begin the revival. Hyness was skeptical about this idea but seemingly liked it.
“I don’t care what you have to do, just do not fail like you did long ago on Curilia, Domia” Hyness said.
Elsewhere, high above the skies of Popstar, in the kingdom of Floralia. Its ruler, Queen Sectonia, had become corrupted with power and became harsher and cruel; this soon led the floralians to use a magical plant called the dreamstalk in hopes of summoning the hero of Dream Land. The following morning, Kirby’s home and Castle Dedede were brought up into the sky thanks to the dream stalk. When Kirby tried to investigate Taranza, one of Sectonia’s servants kidnapped Dedede, thinking he was the hero of Dream Land. While Kirby pursues Taranza, Morpho Knight crashes onto Popstar, before being approached by a few stray spear-wielding Waddle Dees, accompanied by Meta Knight and Spatarius. Before Morpho Knight, who’d passed out from exhaustion, could answer any questions, he was forced to transform back into Galacta Knight from exhaustion.
“Th-That’s impossible” Meta Knight said.
“H-He died during the invasion of our base, so how is he alive?” Spatarius asked,
Two then took Galacta Knight to the Halberd, where Maho examined him, sensing the presence of Ontos within him.
“Indeed, Aeon, or by his Star Warrior name, Galacta Knight, had died; it's almost as if someone or something had brought him back to life,” he said,
“So if he’s alive, who was that other warrior with the butterfly wings?” Spatarius asked before Maho made an old book appear before he turned the pages to a section featuring an image of a butterfly.
“You’re familiar with the tale of the butterfly, a strange but beautiful creature that’s capable of incredible power?” he asked both of them as they answered with a nod.
“There are also legends that state that the butterfly can judge powerful entities as it’ll grant them extraordinary power or absorb them and their souls, and there’s no doubt that the butterfly’s presence is inside Aeon,” Maho explained.
“How long will he stay alive before he dies again?” Meta Knight asked hesitantly.
“I don’t know, Meta. But as long as the butterfly stays with Aeon, it’ll keep him alive for the time being.”
Before he could finish his sentence, Maho got a vision, one featuring Domia bringing destruction to innocent worlds. When he then explains the vision, Galacta Knight briefly transforms into Morpho Knight before he approaches the group.
“Destroy the Sfragida Telous by any means necessary,” he said.
“If that weapon is used, the whole universe could be at risk. The Sfragida Telous cannot be allowed to be used by Domia.”
Before they could ask him what they meant. Morpho’s transformation was undone as Galacta Knight collapsed.
“What is a Sfragida Telous?” Meta Knight asked before Maho gave him the answer.
“It’s a planet-destroying weapon that was developed by the ancients, and as far as I know, they were all destroyed by Galacta Knight since the foundation of the GSA,” he explained.
“There must’ve been one hidden, and now Domia might use that terrifying weapon to threaten the universe.”
“If Domia has returned, then we will stop him again,” Spatarius says.
“Get the others to deck three, I’ll locate where Sfragida Telous is,” Maho said before he left the room.
Meta Knight and Spatarius soon entered the deck three alongside Avalan, Fuegis, Ryusei, and Markus. When Maho enters, he then explains that Domia and the Stragida Telous were in an unknown region of space on board a Jambastion.
“I can send you six on board the Jambastion, but you’ll have to find Domia on your own; there’s a strange magic interfering with my telepathy, so I won’t be able to communicate with you once you’re onboard.”
“Don’t worry, we’ll take whatever it is that's interfering with your abilities down, just make sure nothing bad happens to Popstar while we and Kirby are gone,” Markus said.
After Maho opens up a portal and sends Meta Knight and the rest to the Jambastion, he then looks outward and sees multiple vines wrapping around Popstar. Elsewhere, after Kirby defeated many foes and made his way to Floralia, he caught up to Taranza, who revealed his objections were to keep Dedede from interfering with Sectonia’s plans. After a brief battle between Kirby and King Dedede, breaking a mind control spell in the process, Sectonia appears only to push Taranza aside for his failures and battles Kirby, but ultimately overpowers. In a last-minute effort to defeat Kirby, Sectonia uses her magic to become one with the dream stalk and drain Popstar and Floralia of their power. Elsewhere on board the Jambastion, Meta Knight, Spatarius, and their friends fight their way through many foes before locating Domia, who reveals that the last remaining Stragida Telous was repaired and had become one with the Jambastion’s power source.
“How in the stars are you even alive? I stabbed you in the heart!” Ryusei said before unsheathing his katana.
“Did you think I would die so easily? You’re even more gullible and naive than I thought!” Domia said.
Spatarius and Meta Knight soon stepped forward as they were the first to draw their swords.
“You don’t have the full army of the ancients backing you up, nor do you have the master crown in your possession,” Meta Knight said
“We’ve defeated you once, and we will defeat you again,” Spatarius said.
“You may try, and you will fail,” Domia said before they engaged in a battle.
However, during the battle, the Jambastion warped from one region of space to a new galaxy, one that one of the members of the group was familiar with. As the ceiling opened up, it revealed multiple planets, one of which happened to be Frosteria, Avalan’s home planet.
“What’s the matter, star warriors? Is that the extent of your power?” Domia asked tauntingly
“Perhaps this will motivate you!” as he snapped his fingers.
A bright light soon shone at the top of the room as a beam of light shot out before becoming multiple light beams as they soon hit five planets, Frosteria included. Elsewhere on the planet, Flayke sees the beam hit the planet’s surface before an explosion erupts in the distance. A few frost mages and frozen warriors ran away from the explosion.
“G-General, what do we do?” asked a stray frozen warrior,
Flayke stood still as he watched the aftermath of the explosion approach the city before answering.
“I don’t think there's anything we can do.”
In mere moments before a blinding light destroys the entire planet.
Back on the Jambastion, everyone soon witnessed as the five planets were destroyed, being reduced only to atoms.
“Th-The planets, they were wiped out,” Fuegis said.
“That is the power of the Stragida Telous; it uses the power of a supernova and releases that power, destroying any world, no matter the population or current situation of the planet!!” Domia said after laughing. “One of those worlds was my home,” Avalon mumbled.
The area around him was slowly becoming colder than usual; his current weapon soon disappeared and was replaced with an ice bow as he fired an ice beam, nearly hitting Domia, as the wall behind him began to freeze instantly.
“YOU BASTARD!” Avalon shouted outwards.
Elsewhere on Jambandra, the Jambaheart containing Void Termina’s soul suddenly began to pulsate. This reaction would soon be noticed by Hyness.
“So this is what Domia had meant,” he said.
Back on the Jambastaion, everyone had begun to notice that the area seemed colder than usual. Both Meta Knight and Spatarius struggled to keep standing, but noticed Avalon walk forward, holding the Silverfrost sword, which suddenly changed its form, becoming like a double-edged sword.
“Avalon, is this your doing?” Spatarius asked as he tried to stand.
Avalon didn’t answer as he swung his sword forwards, slicing a fireball in half before it exploded into stars. Domia notices the change in Avalon’s personality, but knows that it was what he needed to revive Void Termina.
“What’s this? You’re able to make the area here almost feel like a blizzard? How pathetic!” he said before unleashing version magic attacks, which Avalon would weave and counter with ease.
Fuegis, Markus, Meta Knight, and Spatarius watched Avalon battle against Domia as the walls and ceiling began to be covered with frost and ice.
“Where’s the ice coming from?” Fuegis asked
“I think it’s Avalon’s power; he is a hybrid of a frost-mage and a star child after all,” Markus said
“Then could that mean his powers are tied to his emotions the same way his mother's abilities were?” Meta Knight asked.
Avalon continued to fight Domia as his hate and anger became more present and more manifest.
“Yes, keep fighting me! Give in to your hatred, your power will be used in reviving Void Termina, the Destroyer of worlds!” Domia said
“No, you’re wrong, I won’t allow it! You’re a worse monster than Nightmare was!” Avalon shouted before deflecting another attack.
“You dare compare me to that pathetic whelp?!”
The windows around the room froze up as ice covered them, making it almost impossible to see.
“You killed my father, destroyed my home planet, YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE ANY MERCY FROM ME!” Avalon shouted out before he leapt upwards, unleashing a powerful slash.
The impact was so powerful that it broke Domia’s barrier and sent him hurtling into the Stragida Telous & the Jambastion’s power core. The entire station soon shook as there were explosions happening from the inside. A big explosion soon erupted from the power core as Domia presumably died, yelling out Avalon’s name in rage.
With the core destroyed, the Jambastion started to collapse, and parts of the ceiling soon fell along with other debris. Before Fuegis could go and get Avalon, Markus stopped him from doing so.
“We can’t just leave him!” He said
“The whole place is coming down on top of us; we can only hope that he makes it out alive!” Markus responded before he picked up Fuegis and followed Meta Knight, Ryusei, and Spatarius out of the room, leaving several debris to fall around Avalon as he stood with his weapon in hand.
The rest soon escape the Jambastion before it exploded into millions of pieces, elsewhere back in Floralia, Kirby battled Sectonia who had become one with the Dream Stalk, and with the help of King Dedede and Taranza who learned the errors of his way, Kirby uses the miracle fruit to unlock the power of the hypernova ability and defeat Sectonia, destroying her form in the process, this would then purify the dreamstalk and destroy the vines that Sectonia had created.
Elsewhere in a space between worlds. Meta Knight, Spatarius, Markus, Ryusei, and Fuegis wake up as they meet a strange being who took on the form of the star children. Meta Knight and Spatarius soon realized that it was Void, the creator of the universe, who had saved them from the destruction of the Jambastion. Void then reveals to the group that the worlds that were destroyed by Domia had suddenly reformed, and half of the life on those worlds had been reborn with no memory of the events. Fuegis then asks about Avalon and his home, Frosteria, wondering if it had also been restored. Void tells him that only a handful of Frozen warriors and Frost mages were restored, but only one had been lost to the stars above.
They also explained that while Avalon didn’t die in the Jambastion’s explosion, his current location is unknown, but he can show up. After all the destroyed planets had been reformed, the group ended up on Popstar, where they were welcomed back by Kirby, the citizens of Dream Land, and the sky people of Floralia. Elsewhere, Avalon wakes up in an unknown place. As he gets up, he sees someone he hasn’t seen in years, it was none other than Princess Gliss, his mother.
“Mom, what are you doing here?” he asked.
“I could ask you the same thing,” she responded.
Before he could ask, he was interrupted as Flayke approached him from behind.
“You’re not supposed to be here,” he said.
“Wh-What do you mean?”
Flayke soon points to a tree, adorned with multiple lights on its leaves and branches.
“That is the tree of light, the final realm for fallen star warriors,” Flayke explained.
“It’s not your time to join us yet, my son,” Gliss spoke as she backed away before Flayke stood before him.
“It’s my time, which means I’m supposed to crossover; you, on the other hand, are not ready yet”.
Flayke’s words almost trouble Avalan, almost as if he weren’t ready to say goodbye to his father yet.
“But this means you can still go back,” he said as he picked up the Silverfrost sword, which had reverted into its original form after Avalan’s battle with Domia, before handing it to Avalan.
“Everything, my legacy, and my honor belong to you now,” he said
“Remember, you are never truly alone, Avalan. And we are always with you,” Gliss said.
Flayke then lightly pushes Avalon back, causing him to fall from the strange cloudscape-like terrain.
“Thank you both, I won’t forget, and goodbye for now, Mom and Dad,”
He said before landing in an ocean-like area, before losing consciousness.
Ten months later, on Popstar, near the shore of Dreamland, two Waddle Dees find Avalan’s unconscious body that had washed up on the shore along with the Silverfrost sword. After he was brought to Castle Dedede, Galacta Knight examined him, but knew something was different about him; this was because of his bond to Ontos, which had enhanced his perception. Finally, when Avalan had awakened, Galacta asked him what had happened on board the Jambastion, and Avalan told Galacta that he didn’t fully remember the events.
Back on Jambandra, the glow from the Jambaheart had faded completely, indicating Domia’s failure. Hyness was furious and frustrated; he was the only surviving member of the magic faction and wasn’t about to let his ambitions of ruling the universe fall into ruin. Soon, Zan Partizanne, one of Hyness’s mage generals, entered the room.
“Lord Hyness, and my sisters have returned from our mission, and I believe we’ve found the manuscripts with instructions to reawaken the destroyer of worlds without the first star warrior’s angelic powers,” she said as she presented a scroll to Hyness.
When he approached her, he took the scroll and began to read it, seemingly understanding its instructions.
“You and your sisters did a splendid job, Zan. Leave me and prepare for your next assignments,” he said before he waved his hand, dismissing the electric mage.
“As you wish, Lord Hyness,” she said before politely bowing her head and left.
Once Hyness was alone, he began reviewing the manuscripts and compared them to old books containing information on Void Termina’s creation from many years ago.
“For far too long we’ve been mocked and made fun of, but now we will make them see who is weak.”
Later in the year 4523, a giant spaceship known as the Access Ark flies down to Popstar and begins to mechanize the entire planet. King Dedede and Meta Knight attempted to stop the invasion, but their efforts were in vain as the Access Ark fought back, destroying Castle Dedede and damaging the Halberd. Markus, one of the few survivors of the invasion, takes notice and watches as the Halberd crashes a distance before he heads over to the wreckage. Elsewhere, Kirby awakens underneath a tree and observes the aftermath of the invasion before he heads off to one of the first legs of the Access Ark. In the wreckage of the Halberd, Ryusei, who survived the crash, was barely conscious and saw two Invader Armors recover an unconscious Meta Knight before they flew off with him. Before two more Invader Armors could capture Ryusei, the two were ambushed by Markus, who took Ryusei to safety.
Apart from Markus and Ryusei, there were a few survivors of the mechanized invasion who tried to fight off the invaders, such as Koi, Lectric, Fuegis, and Maho. On the Access Ark, Susie, the Executive Assistant of the organization behind the invasion, informs President Haltmann of two potential threats: one was a group made up of the survivors, while the other was Kirby, who had taken possession of an Invader bot armor. Despite the situation, Haltman then tells Susie to continue with countermeasures but to proceed with caution. Elsewhere a beam of light was soon fired down onto Popstar, phasing through the Access Ark, once the beam of light disappeared Spatarius donning a new dark grey cape with pink trims and a new mask arrived in the new mechanized Dream Land, upon his arrival he was soon met with a squad of Invader Armor, without wasting any time Spatarius drew out the Destroyer Sword, the weapon channeling with energy. With one swift slash, he sent out a crescent blast from his sword to the squad, annihilating the Invader Bots. Once taken care of, Spatarius holstered his sword and walked off to find the others, knowing where they could be.
Elsewhere at the Fountain of Dreams, which wasn’t affected by the mechanization, Markus, Ryusei, Maho, Koi, Lectric, and Fuegis regroup to discuss the situation of Popstar.
“So we have to assume that everyone had been taken by those robot things from that giant ship, right?” Markus asked
“More importantly, we need to figure out what that thing in the sky is,” Ryusei said before Maho explained things.
“The thing in the sky is called the Access Ark; it's the mothership for Haltmann Industries, a cybernetics company,” he said.
“Cybernetics, like in robots?” Koi asked
Maho nodded his head.
“Indeed, why they’ve targeted Popstar, I know not”.
Before anyone could speak, they heard incoming footsteps. Fuegis and Markus immediately got up and were prepared to face whoever was approaching.
“Markus, I thought you said you weren’t followed,” Fuegis said.
“I thought I wasn’t followed,” Markus said.
As the footprints got louder, they soon discovered that it was Spatarius who had arrived. When he approached the group, he took off his mask and greeted them.
“Seems like you guys didn’t get captured by those robots out there,” he said jokingly to keep everyone’s spirits up.
“His highness, Dedede, and his Waddle Dees were defeated with one attack, and Meta Knight was captured after the Halberd crashed,” Ryusei explained as he weakly stood up, still not recovered from the crash.
“What about everyone else?” Spatarius asked
“Marx and Magolor were elsewhere when the invasion happened, but knowing those two, I’d say they weren’t captured yet,” Markus explained.
“Bandana Dee and Varlis went missing after Castle Dedede fell, and both Aestus and Terra were off-world. Both of them thought it would be best to protect both of their home planets with the ancients still a threat,” Lectric said
“Flora and Venom are still out there trying to find more survivors, and we don’t know where Avalan or Galacta Knight are at,” said Koi
“I have an idea, we’ll go to the Halberd hanger bay and get whatever tools we need to repair the ship and find Meta Knight,” Spatarius said before he put his mask back on and was about to head out.
“What about Kirby? Don’t you think we should find him?” Fuegis asked.
“Remember that Kirby was the one who defeated Nightmare, annihilated Dark Matter and Zero, took down Marx, Dark Mind, and Magolor; he can handle himself,” Spatarius replied before the others soon followed him.
As the group travelled through Patched Lands, they soon heard the sounds of a fight going on. They soon discovered Avalan fighting against a Gigavolt who’d soon be assisted by Galacta Knight, who avoided capture. Soon Spatarius and the rest joined Avalan and Galacta Knight in their fight, along with Kirby, who was now piloting the Robobot Armor. After the Gigavolt had been defeated, the rest of the survivors continued their journey to the hangar bay as Kirby continued his journey to each leg of the Access Ark. Once they arrived, they soon discovered Varlis and Flora had already arrived.
“Flora, Varlis, it's good to see both of you are alright,” Markus said to both of them.
“Barely, that thing mechanized and turned everyone else into some sort of robot or clone,” Flora said with concern.
“There’s this lady named Susie who’s taking anyone willing to put up a fight against those robots and turning them into weapons or cloning them,” Varlis said.
“What about Bandana Dee? Is he here?” Avalan asked
“No good, he almost made it, but he got captured and taken to that thing that took down the Halberd,” Varlis said
Spatarius took off his mask before he explained the next steps.
“Here’s the plan: we’ll rest up, but then we’ll split up into two groups. Ryusei, Flora, and Lectric will take whatever supplies they need and fix the Halberd while Me, Markus, Avalan, Fuegis, Maho, and Koi find Bandana Dee and anyone else who might’ve been captured but haven’t been cloned or mechanized yet.”
”I suppose you won’t mind if I tag along with you then?” a mysterious but familiar voice says.
Spatarius turns around to see Morpho Knight, who took Galacta Knight’s place. While Spatarius has been aware of Ontos’s presence with Galacta Knight for some time, it was still a surprise to him.
“Is there something wrong?” he asked.
“No, not at all, I wasn’t expecting to see you here.”
“Would you rather Galacta were here to assist you?” Morpho asked him.
“Not at all, we’ll need all the help we can get if we’re going to help Kirby restore Popstar,” Spatarius said proudly.
“But why decide to help us now, all of a sudden?” Markus asked him before Morpho Knight changed back into Galacta Knight.
“It was my request for Ontos to help us. If he’s going to help us against the ancients, then I thought it would be best if he helped us against Haltmann Industries, if that’s not a problem,” he said.
“It won’t be,” says Avalan.
“But if Morpho Knight is going to be using your body to help us, won’t that get exhausting?”
“Not at all, my power and Ontos’ powers are completely different,” Galacta said before he transformed into Morpho Knight.
“Aeon’s powers are indeed angelic, but mine go beyond anything you've ever seen,” he explained.
“Even more powerful than Void Termina?” Spatarius asked
“I haven’t seen how powerful this ‘Void Termina’ is, but based on Aeon’s memories, I can only assume that my power rivals it.”
“The ancients attempted to recreate the creator of the universe, but only succeeded in creating the destroyer of worlds,” Spatarius explained.
“Galacta Knight and three other rebellion members fought Termina, while everyone else died. Galacta was the sole survivor that day, and Void Termina had perished that day”.
Morpho Knight then wanted to explain the current situation with Void Termina when Galacta Knight discovered that it could be reborn, but decided against it due to Galacta Knight’s requests. As Ryusei, Flora, and Lectric began to work on the Halbred, Spatarius, Avalan, Fuegis, Markus, Maho, Koi, and Ontos head out and recover Venom & Bandana Dee from being mechanized or cloned. Meanwhile, along the way, Kirby made it to each leg of the Access Ark, damaging them in the process. Soon, Kirby and Spataris’ group made their way inside the Access Ark, encountering Susie in the process. After a brief battle, Avalan attempted to harm Susie even when she was defeated, but both Spatarius and Ontos stopped him. It was then soon revealed by Ontos that Avalan had been possessed by Domia’s spirit, while the group was distracted by fighting the possessed Avalan. Susie soon tried to escape with Kirby following in pursuit. After a brief battle, Domia began taking over Avalan’s body even more, transforming it to become demonic. Terrifying demon wings soon manifested from his back, the crystals on his headband became more sinister and cracked, and the colors on his body changed to a dark purple and scarlet red.
“Your friend is no more. As I am in control of his body, I will use this vessel to enact my revenge on all of you, and revive Void Termina once and for all!” Domia had said that the transformation was complete.
The mention of the idea of Void Termina being revived shocked everyone but Ontos and Galacta Knight
“No. We won’t let you do that,” Ontos spoke, his voice soon beginning to overlap with Galacta Knight’s.
“And we will free Avalan from your control, Domia. You will not live to see the next day!” Spatarius said, readying his weapon.
Domia soon chuckled as he conjured an ice barrier, separating Fuegis and the rest from Spatarius and Ontos.
“You think you can defeat me without damaging your friend’s body, as I use it as my vessel? Go ahead and try to stop me, star warriors,” he said before drawing out the Silverfrost sword, which had been tampered with and corrupted by Domia’s lingering will.
After a long and excruciating battle, Domia was soon overpowered by the two, although he was still in control of Avalan’s body, which was enough to make the ice barrier collapse.
“It's over, Domia, you’ve lost!” Spatarius said, aiming his sword at him.
Domia then got back up, weakened by the last battle.
“I-It's not over, until I say it's over, y-you pathetic insolent weaklings have no right to exist in our world, one we will soon rule!” he said, tightening his grip on the Silverfrost sword before he suddenly held it in a reverse grip.
It was soon clear that the battle was enough to allow Avalan some control over his body.
“Wh-What are you doing? Your body succumbs to me, WHY DOES YOUR SPIRIT AND MIND RESIST?!” he said.
Without hesitation, Avalan used every ounce of willpower he had to stab himself with the Silverfrost sword; the impact was enough to cause a small explosion, creating a hole in the wall behind Avalan. After he drops the Silverfrost sword, Avalan loses his balance and he loses consciousness and falls through the hole behind him. Without thinking, Fuegis rushes over and leapt out of the Access Ark through the hole before he and Avalan soon fell into Orange Ocean. Once Fuegis had grabbed onto him, he soon struggled to swim upwards as the flame on his head had been completely extinguished by the water. As the two of them started to drown, Aestus, who’d arrived thanks to Maho, dove into Orange Ocean and rescued Fuegis and Avalan before resurfacing. Aestus then used the surrounding water to create a platform before setting Fuegis and Avalan down.
Fuegis gained consciousness before coughing up water, the flame on his head reigniting weakly.
“That was reckless and foolish of you. You know water is the exact opposite of your element,” Maho said,
“Were you trying to drown?” Aestus asked before Fuegis soon pointed to Avalan’s unconscious body, the color of his body soon became pale and almost seemed dead.
“Is he?..” before Aetus could ask the question, Maho intervened
“He’s not dead, but he’s close to being dead, but why is he like that?” Maho asked
“Domia possessed him; he must’ve figured out how to perform some sort of possession spell and transferred his consciousness into Avalan’s body during their battle on the Jambastion long ago,” Fuegis said.
Maho then tried to look into Avalan’s mind, holding that there would be goodness, but all he saw was the spirit of Domia, weak but still residing in his body. He'd then tried to locate Avalan’s spirit before his mind entered some sort of pocket dimension, where he was soon met with Avalan’s lingering will.
“Avalan, what happened? Where are you?” he asked.
Avalan approached Maho before speaking.
“Maho, is that you? I haven’t heard you in so long,” he said, almost sounding like he hadn't talked to him in years.
“As for what happened?...I’m not entirely sure what happened, but all I remember is killing Domia and then…”
“And then what?” Maho asked as Avalan was hesitant to explain things before speaking once again
“After that attack, my body ceased once the Stragida Telous and the power core for the Jambastion were destroyed, I died…” he said.
The explanation didn’t make sense as Maho struggled to process it.
“What do you mean you died? You washed up on Dream Land months ago. What do you mean you died?”
“The body you saw washed up…it wasn’t mine, before his death Domia casted some sort of spell on me that made a copy of my body which would serve as his vessel, yet even though I couldn’t join the rest of the fallen warriors in the afterlife something kept me from gaining consciousness, but for a brief moment I was able to use the Silverfrost sword to extract my spirit and put Domia’s spirit at bay”
Maho soon snapped back to reality with a terrified look on his face.
“What did you see?!” Fuegis asked
“I-I saw Avalan’s spirit, it's in the Silverfrost sword”
“What do you mean?”
“Domia created a copy of Avalan’s body before he died and tried to use it as a vessel. Domia’s spirit is still in his body, but dormant for now, but we need to get him onboard the Halbred,” Maho said.
“You mean it's fixed?” Fuegis asked
“I spoke to Ryusei using my telepathy; it's just about ready to fly again.”
Back on the Access Ark, Spatarius picked up the Silverfrost sword, which had returned to its original form.
“Ontos, do you think Avalan is dead?” he asked.
“He’s not dead, but his spirit has been removed from his body and has been placed within the sword itself. You should hold onto it for safekeeping,” Ontos said.
Spatarius then placed the Silverfrost sword onto his back and turned to Markus and Koi.
“Me and Ontos will continue ahead, you two regroup back with the others.”
Markus and Koi nodded and soon exited the Access Ark before Spataris and Ontos continued. As the two journeyed through the Access Ark, they came across Meta Knight, who had been mechanized by Susie. Ontos was about to draw their weapon, but Spatarius got in front of them,
“I’ll handle this,” Spatarius said before drawing out the Destroyer sword from his scabbard.
“Can you handle him?”
“He’s my friend and my comrade; if anyone can stop him other than Kirby, it's me,” Spatarius said before he got out his Destroyer Knight mask, put it on, and engaged in a battle with the mechanized Meta Knight.
During the fight, Spatarius soon called upon the true power of the Destroyer sword, transforming it into the blade of light. After the fight, the mechanoid Meta Knight was soon defeated. Ontos soon approaches him before holding their hand out to them, then a strange energy surrounds both them and Meta Knight, which soon restores Meta Knight to normal.
“Meta Knight, are you with us?” Ontos asked.
When Meta Knight regains consciousness, he tries to get up, his body still weak from being restored.
“Kirby..no, Popstar is in danger, there’s this self-aware computer that’ll erase the whole universe,” he said
“How dangerous is the self-aware computer?” Ontos asked
“President Haltmann doesn’t know what his computer is capable of; if it activates, it’ll be the end of all of us!”
When Ontos and Spatarius helped Meta Knight up, Maho appeared.
“Spatarius, Ontos, the Halbred is fixed. Have you found Meta Knight yet?” he asked.
“We’ve found him and restored him; the rest is up to Kirby, assuming Haltmann hasn’t activated the supercomputer Meta Knight had mentioned,” Ontos said before transforming back into Galacta Knight.
“We’ll regroup with the others while Meta Knight takes the Halberd and assists Kirby before it's too late.”
Kirby eventually catches up to Susie and is soon introduced to President Haltmann and discovers Star Dream, the company’s supercomputer. After Haltmann is defeated by Kirby in a climactic battle, he attempts to activate Star Dream, but before he can do so, Susie betrays him and steals the means of controlling Star Dream. However, Star Dream activates on its own, zapping Susie away and merging with Haltman’s mind and spirit, taking control of him and declaring the end of both the universe and history. As Star Dream took off, Susie helped Kirby by giving him the Robobot Armor, telling him to destroy Star Dream for good. Meta Knight soon brings the newly repaired Halbred and merges it with the Robobot Armor to take the fight to Star Dream.
Kirby and the fused Halbred soon damage Star Dream, forcing it to collide with the Access Ark, causing it to take control of the giant spaceship and continue the battle. After another intense battle, Star Dream was critically damaged but not destroyed yet. Kirby ejects his Robobot Armor from the Halberd in an attempt to destroy Star Dream for good. Elsewhere on a distant moon of Popstar, Spatarius and the rest of the survivors watch the battle from afar while figuring out a way to help Avalan.
“Is there any way to restore him to what he once was before Domia's possession took him over completely?” Spatarius asked Maho
“If we destroy the Silverfrost sword, his spirit should return, but with Domia’s spirit still lingering in that body, I don’t see how Avalan will be the same ever again,” he explained.
Galacta Knight then approached the body before transforming into Morpho Knight, allowing Ontos to take control for the moment.
“I can undo what Domia has done,” he said before holding his hand out, as a bright aura surrounded both Avalan and the Silverfrost sword.
In short moments, Domia’s spirit was soon expelled from the body, after that the blade of the Silverfrost sword soon shattered as Avalan’s spirit soon returned to his body, the light blue coloring slowly becoming saturated, the crystals on his head slowly reformed, and the demonic wings from Domia’s influence decayed and were soon replaced with light blue wings that had showed a butterfly-like pattern, the process this left a dark purple-ish scar on his face.
“Finished, I purged every trace of Domia’s magic out of his body and reformed it the best I could,” Ontos said before Galacta Knight took control and transformed back.
Fuegis approached Avalan’s reformed body, hesitant about what the process had done to his friend.
“So he’s alive?..” He asked
“Theoretically, he’s alive, but his fight is not over yet. If he wants to wake up, his spirit has to accept the new body on its own,” Maho said.
While Fuegis tried to process what he heard, an explosion happened far off, indicating Star Dream’s destruction.
“I can no longer feel Star Dream’s presence, which means one thing,” Maho said before Spatarius looked upward at the wreckage.
“Kirby saved Popstar yet again.”
Amidst the wreckage, Kirby, unconscious from the final battle, drifted towards Popstar, leaving his destroyed Robobot Armor behind. Meta Knight flew outward and guided Kirby back to Popstar as the Mechanization process had successfully reversed. In a matter of a few months, after everything that had been destroyed was rebuilt, Spatarius and Fuegis visited Avalan, who was still unconscious in a room at Castle Dedede. Spatarius soon left a new sword called Valkyrie, a weapon that combined both the new motives of Avalan’s new body and old aspects of the Silverfrost sword. Fuegis then tells Avalan that the knighting ceremony was about to begin and that he wished that he could’ve joined him.
Shortly afterwards, two Waddle Dee guards arrived and told them that everyone else was waiting for them. The two then proceeded to the courtyard, where Spatarius, who’d become master knight of the GSA at the request of Galacta Knight, began the ceremony, knighting Kirby, Fuegis, Lectric, Varlis, Markus, Aestus, Flora, and Venom, dubbing them as star warriors of the new GSA. As the seven-star children stepped forward and were given their titles, they received capes with the GSA insignia on the back. Once everyone donned their cape, Fuegis looked over to his right and imagined Avalan awake, standing right beside him, wishing that his best friend was with him.
