Summary
Peter can readily admit that, in life, he’s not really sure what route he wants to take. This means that, for now, he can reasonably say that he’s more or less driving blind.
But that’s completely and utterly besides the point. The more relevant issue is that he’s currently strapped in a car with someone who is literally driving blind.
“Matt… Matt, MATT - TURN LEFT TURN LEFT TURN LEFT TURN LEFT”
or
Peter overhears some gang members plotting to go after Matt because of an upcoming trial, so, obviously, Peter goes to give his fellow vigilante a hand. There's just one teeny weeny, itty bitty, inconspicuous little problem.
Peter was absolutely not prepared to deal with the fact that Matt is certifiably insane.

Summary
“Are we on the same page?” Matt asked.
“We’re so gonna get caught.” Peter bemoaned.
“We are not on the same page.” Matt acknowledged.
They were soon enough, though, because what other option was there? The cops were coming, and there was no way to avoid them.
Hence, Matt was a concussed blind man and Peter was the terrified adolescent who'd stuck by his side.
