Summary
Shiro didn't make good on his promise to never give up on Keith, Instead just as most of the other adults in Keith's life he failed him not knowing it would lead to a series of disastrous outcomes
OR
Shiro abandoned Keith early on causing him to be booted from there Garrison. Shiro lives regretting this decision and when the Galran Empire captures him and his team on Kerberos they use this to their advantage and find Keith to make him the ultimate warrior to fight Shiro who they now call 'The Champion.' Haggar and Zarkon however don't know that the little game they've made could be the end or new beginning of their empire.
They've created the Star Killer, and soon no one will know what to do with him.

Summary
There were more than two groups of paladins. Between Zarkon being the black paladin and Shiro being the black paladin, as Alfor and Zarkon were settling into there leadership positions they realized they couldn't lead and be paladins. So they decided to give up there positions as paladins, and instead help train a new group of paladins to be the paladins of Voltron. So they sent the lions out to find there new paladins and begin training at once.
Years Later,
All Evidence of these paladins had been erased from existence until the awakening of Allura and the Castle of Lion. With the new Human recruits as the next paladins they find the videos of the 'in between' paladins Alfor Kept of there trainings. Known As The Paladin Diaries. But somethings wrong with them. The black Paladin is blurred out of the videos hes barley being show in most of the tapes. Whoever this paladin is must've been important enough for Alfor to erase and to erase him and the rest of the paladins from everyone elses memory! Including someone who is apparently Allura's older brother? who was erased from Allura and Coran's memories even though there both seen with him in multiple vidoes! With Allura's fathers gone, there are no answers...yet
