Summary
Nearly twenty-five years after the events of Trespasser and following the Heritage Wars, the Inquisition, once reduced, has lost all public faith and has disbanded.

Here we follow three stories: the events of the Inquisition, what happened after the Exalted Council, and the current world through the eyes of the assumed never-born daughter of the Inquisitor. Happenstance brings her to Val Royeaux to learn about the world she was never a part of, just as the world loses a little more control. The only consistency between the three - a man trying to learn to live with a little bit of humanity in his heart.
The world's trust in its leaders is at an all-time low in an age of discovery and devastation, and with that stirs an uprising that will shake the known world to its core.

Thinking of Nursey as good-looking is a completely normal response to seeing him in the low light of the Haus, shirt rumpled from dancing on the coffee table earlier, eyes shining brighter than Dex has ever seen them off the ice, and an easy grin on his lips that reveals a flash of straight white teeth. It kind of looks like Nursey cares about something for once and it looks good on him. Objectively.
That doesn’t mean anything.
A hand clasps his shoulder and rips him out of his thoughts. The music—some song from when he was in middle school that’s most likely Holster’s fault—shifts back into focus and he realizes Nursey and Shitty are still standing in front of him with expectant expressions on their faces.
Nursey has his arms crossed over his chest, his shirt pulling tightly over his shoulders. Dex doesn’t dwell on it.
“Sorry, what?” he asks as his cheeks start to burn.
Or, five times Nursey chooses Dex and one time Dex chooses Nursey.

Iolite never thought their life would take this drastic of a turn, but they couldn't complain even if they wanted to. Tsaritsa's orders are impossible to go against unless you want yourself dead.
They'd say their life turned for the worse, but a simple acquaintance day one turned into something much bigger that sweetened the whole thing.
