There was less than a week until Christmas Eve, he noted dully.
The days were ticking by impossibly slow. At least when he was in limbo, there was no sort of time measurement that could be checked. That meant that he hadn't driven himself (more) insane constantly checking a clock and waiting for it to tell him when enough eons had passed, but it also meant that time flowed in accordance to his mental state rather than any sort of metric. That was scarcely better.
"Fuck," he breathed.
Wilbur was alone.

wilbur grows up with a mother who cooks meals only sometimes. kristin and phil split duties pretty evenly, but phil is at home more, worked more remotely, and oftentimes wilbur eats food made by private chefs and famous pâtissiers. kristin makes food that's perfect and classy, expensive and foreign defining everything from the spices to the bread and meat to the fruits. wilbur, however, is not trusted with an oven. for one, he is twelve, and for two, the last time he tried to boil water he had almost spilled it all over himself and floof, techno's hellspawn of a dog. so yeah, no oven for wilbur.

This is my first take on this.
Sirius loves his brother. More than anything, and would do anything to protect him from their parents wrath. When Severus Snape gives Sirius an option between Remus and Regulus, there isn't much he can do but weigh his options.
WARNING:
Sirius here is more of what is reflected in canon. He is much more morally questionable, and this can be hard to read if you think of him as an innocent bean (which is completely fine!).If you want something easier to digest, the second, and final work in this series, might be for you. It paints Sirius in a much better light.
