Summary
Tommy cursed and, covering his face better, ran to one of the stairs so he could get down, careful where he stepped; the wooden planks were sagging and blackened in places from the fire and it took longer than it should have to reach the stables where the horses were. Tommy tried to calm them down, but he knew that trying to get them out on his own was a gamble, and that the horses might bolt and hurt him, so he ran to the door, looking for something to pry open and dodge the beam.
"Pa! There's a beam blocking the door!" he shouted between coughs, pressing the flap of cloth harder against his mouth. "What are we going to do? The horses can't get out!"
"We'll find a solution, son!" his father shouted from the other side. "But you have to come out of there right now!"
"I can't...!" Tommy interrupted himself with a cough. "I can't leave them here!"
"Get out of there, Thomas!" Tommy also heard his baba's voice, then someone in the distance calling for more water. From the sounds outside, the wind seemed to have picked up as well. "It's going to be okay, but get out of there!"
"You would have stayed!" Tommy screamed back, hearing his parents go silent for what seemed like an eternity.Series

You're just fooling yourself, a voice said in his head, and Damian stopped a few steps away from his room, his heart in his throat.
"Where are you?" Damian asked suddenly, and that laughter erupted within the walls of the house.
I'm right here.
Damian's eyes widened at the sight of his reflection sneering at him through the mirror he had in the hallway, that reflection looking back at him with swagger and pride, and that murderous gleam in his eyes that Damian had hoped to see disappear forever. It wasn't possible, there was nothing rational about the moment he was experiencing, it was just tiredness and stress making him see things that didn't exist and--
Do you really want to convince yourself that's the reason? You've become a wimp.
"You're not real," Damian scoffed, but the reflection tilted its head towards his right shoulder and smiled.
Nobody is real, sweetheart.

"You're a killer. I don't know why I waste my time with you anymore."
"That's not you talking," Damian told himself, not having the courage to raise his eyes to meet Jon's. "It can't be you."

Sta diventando sospettoso come un randagio, e prono a credere a ogni superstizione, peggio di una contadina anziana. Il brivido comunque gli pizzica la spina dorsale per l’intera lunghezza, e nemmeno l'acqua termale ribollente che lo inghiotte come un boccone saporito riesce a placarlo, Non dovrei evocarlo in questo modo.

Damian would have said more if Jason hadn't slapped him on the forehead and made him curse through clenched teeth. "What's got into you, Todd?" he snapped, falling silent at the serious look his brother gave him.

For a moment he panicked, his head spinning and he didn't know what to do, but he recovered quickly, lifting his friend into his arms and noticing the black car parked in the fields not far away.
