Arthur had a look on his face that was equal parts confused and happy. "You wrote all this for me?"
"I know it's stupid, but there were so many things I wanted to tell you. And I knew I would forget them, so I wrote them all down." Merlin only just realised how daunting three and a half bookshelves worth of thinking about Arthur was. "It made it easier. Losing you. So much happened that I wanted to tell you, but I couldn't. It started out as important things, like Gwen and Camelot and such. But then I started writing down everything I thought you wouldn't want to miss." He didn't say every time he thought of Arthur.
Merlin continued, "It's dumb. You're here now! You obviously don't have to read all of them, I can just pick the important ones-"
"Stop it, Merlin. I want to read them." Arthur looked around. "Where do we start?"

Vanitas wheezed as he was bowled over, sliding another few steps before coming to a standstil with the dragon standing right above him, tail wagging back and forth, wings fluttering in delight, eyes glimmering as it sniffed his face, a red tongue darting out to lick over his cheeks.
It was the same as what Wayward Wind would have done. The same twitch of its head, the same way it nuzzled against his cheek. The same way it kept poking him, like demanding head scratches and pats.
Vanitas lay there limply, staring up at the dragon that was behaving like it loved him, the dragon that was not his own, and felt nothing but rage.
In a world where wielders are blessed with dragons instead of Keyblades, Vanitas grows up in the Graveyard, with Master Xehanort to train him and a dragon at his side that he doesn't want.

Through the frozen mist in the tank, a figure lurches toward the glass, fingers curling in the frost. Dark hair frozen in a seal-slick, like oil in viscous fluid. A naked torso, deathly pale and riddled with those blue veins like tributaries. One hand wrenches the cryotank mouthpiece away from his face, and the man in the tank bares his teeth in a snarl as he looks down at Xie Lian, and then stops.
“Oh,” Xie Lian breathes.
The man in the tank is a shade elf.
