“Morgana, please. I’m asking you to listen to me,” Gwen said, aiming for a gentle yet authoritative tone. As much as she wanted to resort to a friendly manner, this was a High Priestess who was currently an enemy of the realm. In fact, it was a small miracle that Gwen was still alive.
Morgana’s eyes narrowed and she muttered something under her breath. Instantly, a knife appeared from the far corner of the room and pressed itself close to Gwen’s throat, who backed away on instinct. “Is this some ploy to distract me?” she asked as she looked out of the door. Gwen sighed.
“No, Morgana. I simply wished to see you. May we speak as old friends?”
“I have nothing to say to the Queen of Camelot,” hissed Morgana over her shoulder.
“I’m not here as the Queen, I’m here as your friend and I wish to speak with you,” said Gwen, sitting as straight as one could whilst a dagger lightly traced the curve of her throat. Morgana raised an eyebrow but turned and settled for sending wary looks at the door, as though expecting a fleet of knights to charge any second. If Gwen wasn’t quick, that very incident was certain to happen.
Or Gwen and Morgana have a long overdue chat. Arthur just wants his wife back.
