Summary

Merlin's plans, however, are thwarted by a manevolent spirit on a vengeful hunt to destroy Camelot with Arthur in it. Can Arthur and the knights save Merlin and Camelot before dawn breaks?

Summary
One hand clutched the fabric around her shoulders, while the other held up the missive. “This is from my brother.” It wasn’t a question, but that dark head bobbed once in answer. “My brother who is in Camelot. And you…” She trailed off, finally taking in the man in front of her. Broad shoulders hidden under a heavy riding cloak hinted at his physique; a warrior's stature. She spared a look back up into those eyes that seemed darker than pitch, unable to place why they seemed so familiar. It took just a moment longer for the realization to make itself clear; this was no stranger.
“Balinor,” her voice was once again quiet.
His answering smile was a small, wan thing. Even so, the lines around his eyes came forward with it. “Hunith.”

Instead, Arthur is stuck waiting in the middle of nowhere while Balinor calls the dragon. To make matters worse, Arthur’s idiot manservant clearly has a massive crush on the guy: despite him being a grumpy, straggly, cave-dwelling sorcerer, who makes terrible cabbage pottage, Merlin hasn’t taken his eyes off him! Arthur will tolerate this nonsense for a couple of days, but only because he must save Camelot.

The side of her face that remained facing him was spotted with old, familiar scars, mottling her eyebrow into patches and making her right ear small with ruin. The skin was dragged like rivers over her cheekbone and jaw, a little pale and tough. Merlin loved her, loved this face, though he knew it disgusted the town. But, for the first time, Merlin reckoned he knew just how this had happened to her, just whose fire this was.
And if that Balinor was alive, and Merlin ever happened upon him, Merlin would kill the son of a bitch. -

Merlin made a huge mistake when Arthur asked him for advice before going to talk to the Disir. He realizes it too late, when they see Mordred in Camelot upon return. He immediately runs back to the Disir to beg for a second chance. Fortunately, they take mercy and give him one. A very unexpected and highly inconvenient one.
