With no choice in the matter, he goes through with it, refusing to bond or mate with the man just before setting back out to sea, choosing to wait until he returns and has more time for them to get to know each other. Little does he know that he's about to meet a force of nature that will turn his entire world upside down.
Alexander de Sardet doesn't want to get married to some strange noble alpha he's never met, but no one bothered to ask him. At least his cousin, Constantin, will be the governor of New Serene and that gives him hope that things can change for omegas, even if it is too late for him.

As he ascended to the final area, his heart clenched when he looked out and saw no one. There were no branching paths; there was nowhere else he could go. Where was Callum? He jumped down, heart racing, then a movement to his left caught his eye, a Guardian. However, he looked no more ready to fight him than Vasco was to fight the creature. Perhaps it was his own worry showing through, but the creature before him seemed sad, seemed worried even. “Where is he? Where is Callum?”
