Damian knows that his father, Bruce Wayne, is supposed to be Batman, but he still is not quite used to it. The man was lost for nearly two years and Damian has spent that entire time playing the role of Robin for his older brother, Richard. Now that his father is back and Richard has taken back up the mantle of Nightwing, Damian feels oddly alone and disconnected from both of the two men.
He is bad at expressing his emotions, but maybe the new school therapist at Gotham Academy can help him cope? Jasmine Fenton is rather odd, but she’s incredibly supportive of his interest in the arts. Even if she does seem to have the uncanny ability to read exactly what emotion is on his mind…

When Danny first watched Fullmetal Alchemist, he'd laughed at the idea of equivalent exchange. Losing his leg hadn't gotten him anything. It only took from him--his ability to walk, his place in the league, his brother. Sure, his new life in Amity was fine, but it didn't take away the great losses he'd experienced. None of it felt equal.
Years later, Danny finds himself in Gotham, prey to the people his mother had thrown him to. He's prepared to lose his life, but then Damian appears, and suddenly Danny understand the desperation Edward felt when he'd sacrificed his arm so readily for Alphonse.
I don't think of equivalent exchange as a law of the world anymore. I think of it as a promise, between my brother and me, a promise that someday we'll see each other again.

So what happens when Damian is made to place a candle on a Day of the Dead altar with his brother's name in mind while Danny, who is injured, floats mindlessly into the void of the Infinite Realms? A light is what happens. A bright, beaconing light, pulling Danny towards it from the void of the Realms, and a bright light, that appears inside the Justice League's Watchtower coming out of Damian's candle.
