This is a Hollow Knight x Dave and Bambi crossover, where I take the Dave and Bambi world and lore, and plop it into Hallownest! Then I mix it around, and chaos is inbound. Knowledge of Hollow Knight and Dave and Bambi is probably needed to understand the slop I'm making.
I'm terrible at keeping secrets, but I try.

After the fall of Hallownest and the disappearance of the pale wyrm, the pale princess had been left to defend the now dead kingdom preserving it from scavengers and invaders, a vessel who left the land for unknown reasons returns after hearing the call from the black egg. These two have begun their legendary journey through the dead kingdom, however their quests would drastically change with the arrival of a strange creature from a far off land.
Meet Corporal Dennis McNamara, a human soldier, member of the US Army’s 75th Ranger Regiment. While on patrol fighting an overseas war, his convoy is ambushed by enemy fire which he’d be KIA in the process, However by some miracle, he’d be given a second chance at life. Though its use as an entry point for passing travelers has long since expired, Elderbug finds himself constantly gazing up towards Kings Pass, reminiscing on the times before the fall of Hallownest, when the streets were bustling with life. Of course, he liked the quiet, but the collapse of the stairs had truly solidified Hallownest’s status as a fallen kingdom.
Which is why, it was a surprise to see a figure walking towards the edge of Kings Pass, a strange looking bug, clad in a tattered blue-gray cloak.
(AKA: The Non-hollow Ghost fic nobody but myself asked for. Basically follows the progression of Ghost's journey through Hallownest whilst detailing the external perception of them and how it changes, as well as their internal struggle with emotions they don't know how to cope with.)

TL;DR: Ghost is molting, Hornet and Quirrel have no idea what they're doing, and chaos ensues.

After defeating the Radiance in the pantheon of Hallownest, the Shade Lord decides not to kill her, but to send her back to Hallownest to give her a second chance.
Hornet tries to find out what was taking little Ghost so long, and discovers the infection to have suddenly disappeared. She finds the seals unbroken, giving her the chance to save not only her mother, but the other two dreamers as well.
The Hollow Knight wakes to find the Old Light a mere mortal. he is, unfortunately, not allowed to kill her.Hornet must, with the help of both the Hollow Knight and her step-mother, revive a long dead kingdom.
This will not be easy.
