In the early hours of a mellow May night, TK Strand wakes Carlos Reyes and proposes to him. A baffled Carlos initially starts to talk TK down – as if assuming he might not mean it. This is the story of why.
Or, 4 times TK accidentally proposed because Carlos is spectacular with his mouth, +1 time he genuinely proposed because Carlos is spectacular with his heart.
He’s smug when he enters him. He gets to be. No finger-stretch is quite enough for Carlos’ thickness, and TK grits his teeth at the exquisite burn – so familiar, yet always a shock. Carlos catches TK’s mouth with his as he opens wide, his head tipping back. Carlos licks at TK’s lips, his tongue, his teeth. He loves the way he can make TK’s mouth open with words or make it open with silence. He can make TK’s mouth open like he can’t open it wide enough to get all the air he needs, or to let out the moan trapped around his heart. He loves TK’s mouth so much, he just has to kiss it, even if TK’s mind has bent sideways and he doesn’t have the wherewithal to kiss him back right now. On his desk at work, Carlos keeps a picture of TK grinning beautifully. It’s his favourite thing. That smile, that mouth. He thinks about it all the time.

Summary
“Morning,” he croaks.
“Good morning,” TK replies, almost a sing-song. He kisses the corner of Carlos’ mouth. “I’ve been waiting for you to wake up.”
Carlos lifts his hand to rub his eyes. As he does so, he sees stars behind turn, but it’s nothing compared to the sight of his boyfriend, his hair poking up in every direction possible, a wide smile on his face, and an adorable blush on his cheeks.
“You did a pretty good job of waking me,” he mumbles, but he mirrors TK’s smile, and TK’s widens impossibly.
“Yep.” He practically preens, no doubt proud of himself. “Which is real good because you still have an hour until your alarm goes off.”
Ugh, no wonder he feels so tired. Especially after all the lifting of boxes and exercise bikes yesterday, the way his muscles ache makes him want to stay in bed all day.

Carlos asks TK to move in with him and finds that his boyfriend is accompanied by an army of hoodies, Carlos' belt (that he didn't know he was missing), and a single-minded mission to celebrate as soon as possible. It wouldn't be the worst thing to make TK wait for a bit, right?

TK is silent the entire drive home, choosing instead to stare out the window with his jaw firmly clenched, his hands making fists in his lap. The silence extends all the way into the house, right up until the point when he flops down on the couch with a loud, frustrated sigh, burying his head in his hands.
At this point, Carlos knows not to push when TK is like this; he’ll talk when he wants to, and not a moment before. So he simply walks over, sitting next to him and placing a hand on TK’s back, rubbing gentle circles. TK slowly relaxes under his touch, unfurling his body, and Carlos is all too happy to let him shift into his arms, holding on and pressing kisses on the top of his head.
I’m here, he’s saying - not with words, but he knows the message gets across regardless.
