Summary
Disoriented and emotionally frayed from decades spent in the void, W.D Gaster suddenly finds himself at the mercy of a cold and arrogant alternate self. His doppelganger promises to return him to the void once his research is complete but before he can make good on his threat, Gaster is introduced to this world’s variant of his son and he is forced to make a quick, spur of the moment decision.
This sole act sends unforeseen ripples throughout the Multiverse and hurdles Gaster on a perilous journey across it to find his way home.

Summary
Desperation. It'd make you do things you'd thought incapable of yourself. Fear and anxiety drills and spills out from the frontier of your brain-- all rationale is hazardly thrown out the imaginary window, animal following instinct. Your judgment falls; ticks. Consequently, you make choices you don't usually make, say things not normally said. Can you truly be blamed for simple desperation?

Dr. W.D Gaster is bone-tired, to put it plainly. He can sense it deep within his marrow, decreasing his already dubious will to live. Not that he had any to begin with. Too many coffee cups complicate his work desk, paperwork overwhelms the surface. Everything feels out of place-messy-imperfect.
The clock on his computer screen reads 1:55 AM. He sighs quiet-soft, his boney hands scrape and nudge at his skull-head. He should just go home...yet there's so much work to be done.
He has a plan, an idea that could greatly improve monsterkind's chances if he has the willpower. He can't rest now. He will not fail them.

She turned and ran. Her mind was screaming at her. GO BACK, and fight! Dad and Papyrus did! I sho- I SHOULD. Maybe… maybe this is a dream. Maybe I can wake up. Maybe they’re not- maybe they're not dea-. Her thoughts screeched to a halt, as did her body. She stumbled forward a couple more steps, then stopped. She was underneath a huge fir, covered in snow and offering shelter, comfort. She pressed her back to the tree, and slowly slid down. She didn’t know what to do. She pulled her legs up to her chest and buried her head in them. She stared at the snow between her feet. Everything was coming crashing down on her. Everything that had happened. She felt sobs bubble up and let them come.
Tears dripped in the snow, melting it slightly. She knew the truth. There was no way it wasn’t true. They’re gone. They’re gone. I’m- I’m alone. I couldn’t do anything. I couldn’t save them. I couldn’t even fight for them, like they fought for me. She figured the creature would come after her eventually, but she didn’t care. Maybe she’d get to see her father and brother, if it did. She curled in on herself and cried.

After the war, monsters are trapped underneath the mountain. This was the story that was told above the ground for kids to stay away from the forest and the mountain all the way back in the English hills. Drake Jackson Conningway, a nine-year-old boy runs away from a orphanage that has abused him in the worst ways not even caring about the rumors and dangers of traversing the forest.
Slipping and falling from a hill, he ends in up in a vast and dark void unsure where he had ended up and how he got here. Drake slowly learns that this void is not what it seems and falls through the darkness to the realm below the mountain in another hole.

Papyrus knew his brother was different from other skeletons. Well... he really couldn't know, since they were the only skeletons in the underground. For all he knew he could be the odd one.
But he knew normal monsters didn't have change their circuits whenever they got wet or have wires exposed whenever they popped open a panel to fix something.
For this was all papyrus knew, so he stayed quite.
But when Alphys brings up some odd files she found at the lab. He can't help but wonder, 'that's strange' to all those little things sans does.
