Handling a house full of memories and grief that Carter knew so well. Luka had told him it wouldn’t take long, that he’d be home before their daughter’s next growth spurt. But each morning bled into the next, and the space beside him stayed cold.

No matter how hard he tried to ignore it it was always a persistent and overbearing presence that wouldn’t ever dissipate. So he gave in to it. When he moved out, he turned into a hungry man. Desperate for experience, desperate for touch. He would fuck anyone willing to experiment with him, not caring if he would wake up the next morning with them still next to him or not. He wasn’t looking for a connection. He was looking for something to satiate this hunger brewing inside of him.
This primal kind of thing that needed to latch and bite and scratch onto any skin he could touch. But he didn’t want to watch the early morning sunlight kiss these people’s faces. So why is he now here, in this apartment, in a bed that’s not his, watching the sunlight peek through the curtains and onto Luka’s eyelashes.
They were drunk, Carter remembers that much due to the pounding headache he’s currently nursing, one too many beers and apple martinis he supposes.

Abby turns around and glares at the newcomers. “You’re late,” she huffs. “It’s about time. Is anyone going to run a train on me, or am I going to have to do it by myself?”
Oh, right, is all Jing-Mei is thinking, the world a blur. We’re not done.
Pratt leans over to Carter. “I can’t believe,” he whispers, “we missed the lesbian sex. Again.”
Carter sputters, “What, like we weren’t also—”

Neela suspects something's wrong the moment Coop steps into the elevator, a pallor to his cheeks that's only exacerbated by the fluorescent lights overhead. She directs a glance towards Abby, hoping perhaps she'll return it and pick up on Coop’s state too, but the nurse-turned-doctor is distracted, flipping through some papers on a clipboard.
As the doors close, Coop leans forward to press the button for a few floors up. His hand shakes ever so slightly, but it's quickly returned to his lab coat pocket before the tremors can be examined properly.
He's fine, right? Coop is... Coop is fine.

His pager beeps once, twice, thrice. Coop doesn't dare to glance down at the reading on the thermometer, instead shoving the device into his pocket and hurriedly exiting the bathroom.
