Summary
Years after the Battle of Hogwarts, Harry Potter is still struggling to reclaim a sense of peace and identity. Haunted by the war and disillusioned with both the Muggle and wizarding world’s attempts to “fix” him, he retreats into solitude — his only consistent companion a pet snake named Alomeda.
When Professor McGonagall offers him the position of Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Harry reluctantly accepts, hoping the familiar halls of Hogwarts might give him a sense of purpose again.
Upon arrival, he faces the familiar mixture of awe, curiosity, and discomfort that comes with being “The Chosen One” and life after the war. At the staff table, Harry finds himself seated next to Draco Malfoy, now a Potions professor. Their conversation, surprisingly civil and even slightly warm, hints at mutual respect and unspoken understanding — remnants of shared trauma and redemption after the war.
How will Harry be able to heal when he refuses help? How can Draco not want to help his lifelong crush and saviour? How long can Harry refuse the warmth of a newfound relationship he never expected to bloom when it's so peaceful and so fucking gorgeous?

Harry grew up with his aunt and uncle in a boring town, on a boring street, in a boring house. Well not that boring as they seemed to hate him, calling him a freak, hit him, starve him, and make him sleep in a cupboard. He was just going on with his day, getting ignored by his relatives and prepared to do a long list of chores when two stranger men show up. They take him away and Harry learns what a real bed feels like, what unconditional love feels like. Remus Lupin is his new guardian and reminds him everyday how much he cares for him.
Months later, he starts his first year at Hogwarts where he’s sorted into Slytherin with his two new friends while making new friends. He thinks it’s going to be just as easy as home but Harry never seemed to have the best luck.

Summary
Draco never asked to survive the war. It wasn't part of his plan to have to continue going afterwards, through the trials and the repercussions and having to go back to Hogwarts despite nobody wanting him there. What's the point of it anyway, when the wizarding world will never again respect him? Death would have been more agreeable.
Then Harry shows up with a badly sewn heart. Then he shows up with an extra essay. Somehow, he forces himself into Draco's life, and then forces the rest of his friend group into Draco's life, and maybe living can feel a lot less like one long stretch of waiting for nothing.
Finally feeling the calm after the storm comes with its own set of issues, though. Namely having to deal with the feelings he's not meant to deal with.
