It was late in the night, you knew you weren’t supposed to be out here on a hike but you couldn’t sleep. You had been out for a couple hours but you could still see just fine by the moonlight. A sudden loud rustling startled you. That was far too big to be the normal wildlife around here. You quickly hurried down the path away from the sound, but it was following. You couldn’t help it, you bolted off the path, away from the sound.
There was a surprised grunting before the noise continued to follow and you quickly found yourself in a clearing brightly lit. It was enough light to see that you had run yourself into a large circle of stones with no escape. You turned, the moon easily illuminating what was following you. It was a man.

You weren’t far from the cave you and Heehoo called home when you heard his call echo through the trees. It wasn’t his danger call, but it still sounded urgent so you grabbed your partly-filled basket and hurried home.
You met up with him inside as he grunted worriedly over a still form. It only took you a second to register the missing sections of the man’s legs to propel you over to the more medicinal plants, making sure to grab the ones that warded off infection and slowed bleeding, plus a small sprinkling of pain killers. Heehoo had stopped the bleeding with makeshift tourniquets from old cloth strips you’d given him as bandages if he got injured out hunting. You left those in place as you worked the poultices on the injuries, making sure they were covered completely. You’d have to remove them soon so the remaining flesh wouldn’t die, but you didn’t want him to bleed out either.
