Summary
After Rei is assaulted by Ritsuko, she distances herself from Shinji and others, fearful that Ritsuko may finish the job if it ever came out what happened. However, a worried Shinji wants to help, and decided to speak to Rei and teach her a lesson that she needed.
In my headcanon, the current Rei is the result of so much experimenting that she has none of Yui's DNA in her body, so she is not related to the Ikaris in any way.

When Asuka and Shinji are deployed to fight against an Angel that the MAGI system has designated as Israfel, neither could have expected that it would possess the ability to split in two and proceed to immediately put them both in the dirt-much to their collective embarrassment.
Then again, they couldn't have predicted a new Eva, wielding swords as large as skyscrapers, coming to their aid either.

Summary
Shinji Ikari seemed to be forever destined to eternal banishment in space locked inside a manmade god, a fitting end for a failed hero. Meanwhile, a Green Lantern who's destiny was be to be the greatest is the last living being of his universe guarding the emotional embodiments as it's gets eaten by antimatter, a failure much like Shinji. A twist of fate allows the two beings to meet. Shattering the illusion inside Unit 01. By the same twist of fate Shinji's willpower is big enough to attract the last power ring. The Daxamite finally puts down his duty, handing over his ring and the title of Ion to Shinji as Unit 01 is transported to another world. One filled with god-like beings, heroes. Now as a Green Lantern, Shinji must put the past behind him as he integrates in the hero society. Finding new friends, regaining trust in others, and perhaps...finding the love of his life as his presence shifts destinies of people around him. Shinji knowing one thing, that no matter if it's the Brightest Day or the Blackest Night, no Evil would escape his sight ever again.

Summary
When the Second Impact occurred, more was lost (and almost lost) than humanity thought - and yet, that is not dead which can eternally lie. And with strange aeons even death may die.
The year is 2015, and terrorist attacks have seen Shinji arrive at Tokyo-3 a week earlier than planned. So when Sachiel, the Covering of God, the Third Angel, finally appears, things go radically different. And in the aftermath, when the LCL has evaporated and the dust has cleared, things have returned that are as equally fearsome as the Angels are.
And on the edge of the Solar System, something far worse has awoken, leaving open a gateway to the galaxy at large - for better or worse.
How will the post-Second-Impact world react? What will survive? And most importantly, will Shinji finally find some peace?
