Day 6: Secret/Fake Dating
George asks Karl on a date for a bet. That's it, just a bet his friends have running on if Karl really does like dudes or not. He isn't meant to actually go on the date, and he's definitely not meant to actually catch feelings for Karl. In the end, all it takes is a single week for his entire world to turn around.

Yeah, George’s friends didn’t like gay people very much. George himself didn’t like gay people very much, or he was trying very hard not to at least. The burning in his arm where Karl’s touched him could be disgust if he tried very hard to convince himself it was.
“I’m sorry,” Karl said, soft and genuine, and George forced himself to look back at him. His clear gray eyes were wide and watery, compassionate enough to hurt, and George’s stomach compressed in on itself. Karl spoke carefully, choosing every word like a picky eater dancing around broccoli on a dinner plate. Delicate and harmful. “That’s awful. I’m sorry, it’s hard to not be yourself around your friends.”
George wasn’t gay. He was himself around his friends. He muttered a quiet “it’s okay” despite this.

“What did you just say?” George tilted his head, maybe he misheard.
Karl recoiled, like he regretted his words immediately. After a few quick breaths, the man dared to repeat himself, “I said, you’re not much to look at.”
George was going to make him regret that.Or Karl is pretty - George hears it every fucking day from his friend group of how pretty Karl is, or how cute he is when he smiles. George is fucking tired of it.
He is supposed to be the pretty one, not Karl. -

George thought he would never get bored of the thrill of living behind closed doors, ones that are literally down the hall from their friend’s living room, but maybe he is. Maybe he wants people to see Karl’s hair all fucked up while a deep blush paints his face and neck. George has seen it a million times, but maybe he wants to watch the look on people’s faces as they connect the dots between the marks on Karl’s neck and the look of sneaky pride on George’s face.
He’s selfish all right, but that doesn’t mean he can’t be proud of his work.
Karl and George have kept their relationship a secret for a while now, but the urge to show Karl off when he looks his prettiest is something that he has a hard time resisting. After all, artwork is for display, isn’t it?

Day 7: Friends with Benefits to Lovers
"I'm in Groundhog Day," George said.
"What?" Both Sapnap and Dream said.
"I know, I know what that sounds like-" George said. "But I've lived through this day three times. Sunday, the 23rd."
"Maybe he is going through a mental breakdown," Sapnap whispered to Dream though George was well within the hearing distance.
"Look, every morning, I woke up in bed with Karl. Karl came over Saturday night and not Sunday night. I make him coffee, and kick him out. Around that time, my mother will call me saying she's landed and wants to get lunch with me tomorrow-" George rambled.
"Your mother's in town?" Dream questioned.
"See, see?" George exclaimed, his finger furiously pointing at Dream. "We've had this conversation before. You've asked me this before."
"I feel like that's a pretty standard question to ask when your friend's mother is in town," Dream mumbled.
George is stuck in a time loop, reliving the same seemingly mundane Sunday over, and over, and over again. He gets some help trying to figure out how to escape it.

Day 6: Secret Dating (technically Marriage)
"Would you take off your ring?" George slapped Karl's hand yet again, seeing the golden band still wrapped around his fourth finger. "Somebody's gonna see it and I'd rather people not find out before we tell them."
"And when are we gonna tell them?" Karl rolled his eyes.
"When we're ready," George replied.
"When you're ready, you mean," Karl said "Because I'm ready. I've been ready."
"I know, love, just be patient," George smiled and pecked him on the cheek. "A little while longer," He said. "And in the meantime, we'll just sneak around some more."
"Okay," Karl agreed. "We are just gonna have to be good at this."
They were not.
When a certain someone caught two professors making out in where they thought was a private and discrete place, the news went around and well, spread like wildfire. Turns out more than a few people have opinions and thoughts about it.

Day 5: Kid Fic
"I will text you more things, the addresses and the times," Karl told him. "I love you, thank you."
"I love you too," George said, kissing Karl on the lips.
It did not miss either of their attention the gagging sound in the background. Karl could only close his eyes and shake his head.
"Love you, baby, I'll be back home soon," Karl yelled out one last time before getting in the car.
George watched until the car drove down the road and turned the corner before he looked back to see Lexie trying to destroy his skull with her laser gaze.
"Daddy was talking to me," She said proudly, sticking her tongue out at George, before walking back inside, closing the door in front of George.
When George first met Karl, one of the first thing he did was lie about how much he loves children. It's honestly a miracle that they're still together even after Karl found out that George wasn't so fond of children. Especialy because Lexie, Karl's daughter, wasn't so fond of George either. Leaving them alone together when Karl had to go out of town might not be the best idea.

George chuckles, “You know, this place really hasn't been the same without you.”
“My heart really hasn't been the same since I left this place. I've missed the comforts of home, I've missed not seeing you... guys. You guys.”
George chooses to ignore Karl’s slip up because he knows if he dwells on it too long, he is going to fall apart. “I'm glad you're back though.”
“I’m glad to be back,” Karl says, squeezing George's hand slightly.
George and Karl are long time friends, but things change when Karl moves back home.

"I'm-" George didn't know how to respond, so he said the only thing that seemed reasonable. "-George."
"I'm Karl," The man replied brightly. "Nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you too," George's voice was still hesitant.
"So what's the best man doing here all mopey and sad with a completely boring drink?" Karl said. "Quackity is out on the dance floor getting absolutely floored right now, such a big contrast between the two best men."
"Quackity," George repeated. "Sorry, I don't think I know you, but you know Quackity?"
"Right," Karl laughed. "Sorry, I forget that we're usually super invisible. I play bass, in the wedding band like an hour ago? Before we switched up to the DJ. Quackity was my college roommate, he's the one that booked me for this gig."
George didn't expect to be approached by the bassist that was playing at Dream and Sapnap's wedding, especially when he was a little bit out of it. He was really cute though, and George didn't mind the talking company.

Day Seven: Friends to Lovers
This would change Karl, his eyes went from being bright blue like a freshly bloomed iris to a soft grey that would paint the sky before a storm would start. His loud energetic laughs turned into stifled soft laughs that had no energy behind them. Karl still looked like himself just without the magic that he once held before and George would do anything to bring that back.

Karl considered himself quirky, and his friends would agree to the term. He was always doing something new and exciting, getting the others looped into his ridiculous antics since they were young. They all admired him for his bravery to call random phone numbers and tell them his life story if they were willing to listen, or be the one to volunteer to ding-dong-ditch the mean neighbors house. And as Karl got older and he discovered Snapchat, his willingness to do ‘quirky’ things escalated. His friends were not shocked when they got pictures of Karl posing in front of his dingy college dorm mirror in ridiculous ways. Or when he was home, how he rummaged through his sister's closet to wear her skirts or her corset tops, just to make the boys laugh. Karl was one of a kind.

Day 2: Sharing a Bed
"What the hell do you think you were doing?" Dream demanded.
"I-" Karl hummed softly. "-don't know what you're talking about."
"Don't act stupid, Mr. Davidson told me all about you little stunt," Dream said.
"It wasn't a stunt, I was simply telling him the success rates and wonderful statistics to attempt to persuade-" Karl slowly said.
"Coerce," George coughed.
"-properly educate him on the positive and hopeful chances of heart transplants," Karl finished.
"I didn't even tell you about him," Dream said before turning to George. "I did not tell him, I apologize for this level of unprofessionalism-"
"Relax, I'm not gonna hit you with a HIPAA lawsuit, you're fine," George rolled his eyes, though he was still thoroughly amused.
When George decided that he was too tired to fight his congenital heart disease and was ready to just live it out and leave it up to fate, the last thing he expected was a young doctor (who really had no business being there) trying to talk him out of it.

"Well, we just wanted to run it by the table," Quackity said. "Some of them were wedding gifts and they may have sentimental value. Your names are engraved on the gravy boat, for example."
"I don't care," George muttered.
"I'm shocked," Karl mumbled just as quietly though his sarcastic tone cut through the room like a sharpened ax through barely set Jello.
"You wanna say something to my face?" George was very quick to jump into his defense.
"That was sarcasm," Karl explained himself with a little wry smile. "In case you didn't get that."
"What's that supposed to mean?" George scoffed, his arms folded in front of him, the glare in his eyes was dark.
"Okay, we're straying away from the topi-" Dream attempted to calm them down.
"You never do," Karl said. "I'm just saying, you know," He rolled his head like he was tired of the conversation already. "Not really surprised."
"Right," George bit back. "Because I'm supposed to want to keep a gravy boat with your name on it next to mine."
Divorce proceedings are messy, especially if your friends are the one going through it after almost 10 years of being married.

So I was thinking about that and decided to take you to one. But I didn’t want there to be a bunch of teens around because that’s weird, so I found, y'know, a cliff that’s supposed to be quiet at night.”
Karl giggled, running his fingers along the car hood until they bumped into George’s thigh. He jumped, startled, then rolled his eyes at Karl. “You took me out to a cliff because I said I liked the make-out point trope?”
“Well, when you say it like that, it sounds stupid,” George grumbled and Karl patted his leg soothingly.
“No, that’s so cute! You’re so cute!”
