Keith arrived early. He always did.
Not early enough to beat some of the skaters and hockey players, but early enough to feel like he was pulling his weight and getting some downtime before the crazy started and the rink was way too loud.Unbearable, loud music radiated through his eardrums, and he groaned loudly.
A click of his tongue brings him back to earth, but he tries to ignore it. To bury his face into his new project for today- but it's impossible. The loud upbeat pop music and the clatter of skates, sharp and precise, bring him out of his zone.
He knew exactly who else was here at this time. And he hated this specific rich kid the most.Lance McClain.

Keith is a loner mechanic who has been working at the rink for years but has never formed any meaningful connections. And Lance is a performative figure skater trying not to buckle under the pressure of supporting his family. Lance is what Keith hates the most outwardly, but would he hate him if he really knew what was going on underneath?

With a vengeful Keith vowing to end all pirates and Lance, who enjoys the power he holds over the seas, they learn to get along after a series of terrible accidents (*cough* they fuck up *cough*), and on their journey, realize that there's a lot to learn from each others.
Their paths cross and things... well, they don't end up well.

All Keith wanted was to get into the town, get a contract, and get the fuck out. But of course, some weird and overly friendly thief type guy decided he wanted to come along for the ride. It didn't exactly go well - they got into a brawl not two minutes after they met. And yet, for some reason, Keith seems to have a hard time saying no to him.
OR A fantasy AU where Keith is a mutant trained to kill monsters from birth, and "Pike" is a thief that has no problem admitting it. This is how they met.

“What are you doing in my apartment?” the man (Lance was 87% sure he was talking to a man) said, his voice just as distrustful as the look he was throwing Lance’s way.
“I heard the fire alarm and saw the smoke and you didn’t answer when I knocked, so I thought you might, you know, need some help,” Lance explained with an awkward one-shouldered shrug.
“I don’t need help,” he said dismissively, shaking his head as he eyes narrowed further into a look much closer to a defensive glare. Lance knew it was probably supposed to be intimidating, but he thought it really just looked kind of cute.
“You’ve set off the fire alarm four times in the past hour,” Lance said, raising an eyebrow as he slipped his hands into his pockets. “Are you sure you don’t need help? What are you even doing?”

Pidge, using the promise of new daggers and epic sword fights, convinces Keith to accompany she and Hunk to the local Renaissance Faire. However, upon reaching the faire, they don't find either, and Keith feels his mood quickly sour - particularly because of the awful, rainy weather. In a last-ditch effort to put Keith in a better mood, Pidge and Hunk convince him to go to the jousting event - it's not really a sword fight, but it's cute men riding on horses, so what's not to love?
That's where he meets Shiro - the "Hero of England," if the jousting competition has any say in the matter. It's also where his miserable day suddenly turns around, and he begins to realize that Ren Faires really can be as exciting as everyone says they are.
