    “Link, I…” Zelda looked at the letter again. Her eyes flashed with utter fury. “There is- something’s happened. A family has arrived in Kakariko, from Lurelin. They asked Impa for your whereabouts.”

    “Oh,” Link said. “Is that all? Do they need help?”

    Zelda took a deep breath and put the letter down. She took Link’s hands.

    “Link, darling,” she said, much softer now, as if trying not to spook him. “Their matriarch claims to be Aryll.”

    One hundred years ago, unknown to everyone, Aryll survived the Calamity. Unknown to her, Link was brought back from the dead.

    Now, with Ganon gone and news of Link and Zelda's survival spreading through Hyrule, Aryll goes in search of her big brother alongside her family. But how to prove herself? How to confirm that she's exactly who she says she is?

    Ficlet #5 in my Tears of the Kingdom Countdown. 11 days remain at time of writing.

    Fluffy fluff. Set after a Link to the Past and sort of incorporating the events of Link's Awakening and the Oracle Games in that they are mentioned. Link is desperately in love with Zelda but doesn't want her to know because he's afraid she'll feel she needs to indulge it. Zelda is hopelessly in love with Link and doesn't want him to know because she thinks she needs to marry for political gain and doesn't want Link to agree to such a life.
    The poor King and Link's Uncle are caught in the middle of this mess until the King takes matters into his own hands.

    Update: this story now has a WIP prequel! Same two silly teenagers, but while they're living through the definitely not silly events of A Link to the Past. Please check out A Link Against the Dark!

    Legend can’t quite describe it, the way his body instantly rejects all thoughts of sleep. He knows, logically, that he needs it. But the moment he lays his head down to rest, his heart starts racing and his hands start getting clammy and it starts getting hard to breathe. The thought of slipping into another Dream again is too horrible to even imagine. The thought of waking up from one is even worse.
    So he handles it. If handling it means that he just doesn’t sleep until he passes out.

    Link’s uncle and only parental figure leaves with an order for his nephew to stay home, but Link can’t help himself when his beloved Princess, the unknowing recipient of his undying love, is calling out for help.

    He rushes out into the night and unto his destiny as the Hero of Legends.

    A Link to the Past novelization with some liberties to allow for Zelda to have a more active role and to incorporate some elements that hadn’t been introduced to the Zelda lore yet back when the game was released.

    The Royal Family of Hyrule have wings, a trait carried through the blood of their line all the way down from Hylia herself. No one else is known to have this unique feature, so when Link, the Hero of Legend, grows wings when he's only six and still just a normal little boy from Kakariko, his Uncle knows they have to hide it.
    Legend grows up hiding his wings and fearing the day he's discovered for them, fortunately, or maybe unfortunately, he can only put that day off for so long and eventually he is discovered.
