Summary
The Human fell down into the Underground, and befriended every Monster in their path. The Human tought the Monsters that not all Humans were as bad as they thought. Even UNDYNE, the Captain of the Royal Guard had put aside her qualms and befriended The Human just the same. The Underground was once again full of hope like it was so many years ago, until they reached ASGORE. That's when it all went wrong. ASGORE was killed, and the Six Human SOULS vanished. Of course, The Underground did not know what would happen next, so The Monsters The Human befriended reached out to The Human via phone-call. They got no response from the Human. They thought nothing of this. The Human was probably busy on the Surface World. The Monsters knew that one day the Human would return, and when that day came, they would be set free from their prison beneath Mount Ebott.
That day never came.

Toriel and Papyrus exchanged some more farewells, but Sans didn’t hear any of them because, as he looked into her eyes, he felt something flick on in the back of his head like a switch. Hm. Well, whatever being was holding control over Chara’s mind, it must have been doing to the same to this human’s body. If they reset now, this human wouldn’t be under the control of that entity anymore. If they reset, Chara could guide them to Asgore! The monsters already have six souls, right? It seemed most monsters were hunting for the last human anyway, so it wouldn’t be too hard to find one competent enough to bring the soul to Asgore.
Even if they’d never be alive enough to truly enjoy it, even if no one would know they helped, Chara had to make it up to monsterkind. They’ve suffered so much at Chara’s hand, it’s time for Chara to finally repent. They would fix it. They had to.
For Mom, for Dad,
For Asriel.
“Greetings, Human. I am Chara,” they said, “and I think we are going to be best friends.”

What is magic really?
For time out of mind, monsters have been studying the nature of magic. Truly, all Soul Studies are simply a lens through which to study what comprises magic - love, hope, joy, and compassion. Though, as humans have shown them, that is not all that exists within a SOUL.
For as long as Mettaton can remember, those questions were purely the domain of those educated at the university. They were boring questions that he occasionally pondered when he had nothing better to do than stare at the ceiling.
Yet, the Surface is not the place of answered wishes that Mettaton, Alphys, Undyne, Papyrus, or any monster dreamed. Instead, it is filled with hostile humans, accidental miscommunications, and crushed dreams.
Though, maybe, there is still love to be found on the Surface in romance, adoption, or found family of all kinds. Who could ever hope to tell?
