Summary
Dying to a work-related accident is one thing, but waking up as an "Iterator" inside a massive box is another.
Now I need to somehow adopt and cope with my new existence while preserving what little sanity I have left. At least being a giant super computer gives me all the time and brain power I need to solve all of my problems…somewhat.
Like keeping those damn zealots at arm’s length and figuring out how to get out of his damn box.
First order of business, don't die a second time and to not cause too much psychological damage to myself.
Easier said than done. For one of them at least.

Summary
The Void Fluid Revolution was an epoch of progress. An age of scientific discoveries, never seen before. - The Void Fluid Revolution was an age ruled by bloodshed.
The tribal Ancients, formerly a loosely unified collective of similar interests, were blinded by the possibilities of the golden liquid, overwhelmed by the technological leap of many centuries over the minuscule span of a few Major Cycles.
They forgot their roots and formed Houses to extort the world with no regard for the karmic virtues. And their numbers started dwindling. Reincarnations found themselves reborn in the forms of lower beings, punished for their hubris and neglect. Fewer and fewer remained, incapable on their own to withstand the freezing nature of their dying planet. It was a godless era, consumed by greed and ambition.
The Ancients direly required something to believe in, something to remind them of their neglected past. A gaze back at the Great Problem, the strife for ascension.
The House of String took it upon themselves to find that certain something - To research and construct the certain somebody to guide them - Iterator.

Summary
The slugcat got up and circled around him, something they do often yet it never ceases to confuse him. Copper watched the creature go round and round, laughing at the absurdity. “What are you doing? This behavior of yours is always odd.” They seemed to pause at his words, he turned his body to look at them now behind him. “What is it?”
He was taken off guard when the animal rounded behind him again then grabbed him by the back of his cloak, bringing him a bit of panic. “Ah! Friend, be careful!” Copper squeaked out, worried that their little friend would rip their cloak by mistake. Or damage his umbilical, that one is worse. “Don’t pull on anything too hard back there—”
Interrupted by the slugcat picking him up, sitting on their hind legs for once as they held him up in the air. Copper was even more confused by this, resulting in them struggling in it’s grip. “Friend?” Being a little more timid, as this is new behavior. They tried to look back at the animal, but was heavily restricted. This must be what baby animals feel when their parents pick them up, they think.

Summary
The Ancients chapter had, at last, drawn to a close. They were free.
Free from the cycle, free from their worldly attachments.Free.
And yet, Tarnish still finds herself clinging to their living memory. Not even out of obligation. Out of… something else.
Something she, for all her processing power, could not put a name to.
She was still here, after all.
Mass Ascension had occurred with the weight of absolute finality, a force she could not join nor stop. She had been abandoned.
Not only her. Everyone. How many other Iterators were feeling this same hollowness?
She had never reached outside her local group before.
The thought alone had once felt absurd - there was no time, no point.
But what was her excuse now?
…
Her senior. She knew they would never permit it.
But she would sooner watch her structure erode than allow another them inch of control over her.Void below, it was too soon to start thinking that way.

Summary
Five iterators and some friends of theirs living and dying through the end of iterator civilization.
Set far south of the local group of the canon story, these iterators have very little to do with it. Slugcats are not even native to the region.
Along the way are mysteries to ponder, puzzles to solve, purposed organisms to create, art to make, and much, much more.
The lengths they will go to save each other and stay alive are long, but nothing can last forever.

Summary
“Do you know Sliver of Straw? She's quite legendary among us.
Sliver of Straw is the only one to ever broadcast a specific signal: that the Big Problem we're all working on has been solved. The triple affirmative - affirmative that a solution has been found, affirmative that the solution is portable, and affirmative that a technical implementation is possible and generally applicable. She's also one of few that has ever been confirmed as exhaustively incapacitated, or dead. We do not die easily.” - Looks To The Moon (Pale Yellow Pearl)
-
Sliver of Straw receives a strange file from an anonymous sender that shakes the foundations of what she believed she would always be bound to, but her newfound freedom comes at a cost. She will be forced to navigate the consequences of her decision, all while discovering what it means to truly be part of the cycle.

Summary
Six Myths had been left with no method to contact the group she was in charge of, and vice versa. With her comms down, her overseers had been set free, and she was no longer in control of them. A part of her ached, as her group hadn't contacted her despite all those cycles missing. Could she really blame them, though? She had fallen still in the cycles leading up to today, having gone without a word for a vast amount of time.
In the quiet of her chamber, she slowly grew to the realization that perhaps they wouldn't find out she had crossed the veil until an extended amount of time. Her imminent demise felt… even more pathetic, now.
"This is my legacy. No broadcasts nor messengers will change my fate beyond this point.” She was on the edge of oblivion. All she needed now was a push.

Summary
Like sleep, like death, you wake up again.
This does not necessarily mean that waking up gives you back all the pieces you lost along the way.
(Five Pebbles is acting strange, Suns thinks, though can’t quite pin down how. He seems to forget simple things- the projects they were working on naught a few cycles prior, the date. Small things, about their creators, about the laws of the universe.
About the fact that he has the rot, and about the fact that Suns was the one to lead him to it. This, Suns has decided, is not a bad thing.)
